Visit canada house.

Located on the west side of Trafalgar Square, Canada House serves as a true showcase of our country in the 21st century.

Tours take place monthly, on select Fridays. Guests must register in advance (spaces are limited). Please indicate your preferred language for your tour.

In addition to in-person tours, you can take a virtual tour celebrating the 96th birthday of Canada House on June 29, 2021.

If you cannot attend a tour, the Canada Gallery is open and free to the public from Monday to Saturday.

• We are unable to accommodate children under the age of 6.
• You must present government-issued photo ID and be subject to airport-style security screening.
• Large bags, rucksacks and suitcases will not be permitted in the building.
• Mobile devices and computers will be safely stored in lockers for the duration of the visit.

About Canada House

The revitalized Canada House on Trafalgar Square has drawn upon the diverse talents of Canadian artisans and craftspeople from coast to coast to coast in order to deliver a building that celebrates the very best of Canada in the 21st century.

Canadian artists provided the inspiration behind custom-made carpets featured in dedicated meeting rooms named after each of Canada’s provinces, territories and oceans.

From visual artists to custom furniture and lighting designers, to the materials and abundance of Canadian wood, at every turn Canada House celebrates leading design and outstanding products.

Visitors to Canada House are treated to some of the finest examples of forward-looking design that relies on Canadian materials wherever possible. Key examples include:

• Bocci lighting installation: celebrated Vancouver designer Omer Arbel created 57.157, the 14.5-metre high glass and metal chandelier that provides a clear contrast between old and new from its position in the grand staircase.
• Warren Carther glass wall: the Winnipeg-based glass artist has created a backlit structural glass wall featured in the Sir Wilfred Laurier Room that evokes images of Canada ranging from the beaver to snow.
• Edmonton’s IZM, a furniture company specializing in hand-made furniture, contributed tables and credenzas to several of the rooms, including 1 for the dedicated Alberta room. Made of Canadian white oak, walnut and maple, the pieces inject a modern sensibility into their surroundings.
• Québec wood artist Kino Guérin has fashioned 2 benches from single strips of material – including a signature ‘Why Knot’ bench that add a playful touch to the building.
• New Brunswick-based woodworker Jamie Landry used local wood to create several pieces for the Atlantic Room. He said: “I’ve always been proud to be Canadian. Having my pieces help represent the country is a great way to do it.”
• Sabina Hill of Port Moody in British Columbia collaborated with Mark Preston, a First Nations artist born in Dawson City, Yukon to create a striking signing table that will sit at the entrance to Canada House. The piece incorporates western red cedar, bronze and glass and evokes the traditional watchmen of B.C.’s Tlingit culture.
• Ontario-based Style Garage created a stunning walnut meeting room table and credenza for the Ontario Room. Toronto-based Creative Matters was responsible for the creation of spectacular custom rugs based throughout the building.

There’s nothing more exciting than touring beautiful homes and it gets even better when we’re touring a designer’s personal home. I have admired Christy’s ( @centrestagedesign ) work for many years. In fact, I have also shared her previous home on our “ Beautiful Homes of Instagram ” series.

Christy is a very talented interior designer located in Vancouver, British Columbia, and today we have the honor to tour her stunning new home. I truly can’t thank her enough for opening the doors to her place and for explaining all of the details on her design choices.

“What an honour it is to have our home featured yet again by @homebuch. My name is Christy and I’m the founder and creative director at Centre Stage Design . We are a full-service Interior Design firm based outside of Vancouver, British Columbia. “My kitchen was designed for those who get joy out of symmetry. The wood-stained double arches lead into a coffee bar (right) and bulter’s pantry (left). The double stepped plaster island pendants execute a beautiful glow at night as the light diffuses upwards. Vertical fluted panels in the vent hood and back of the island add visual interest.” – Christy of @centrestagedesign

“Our venthood is chef’s kiss in this house! Seeing our designs go from paper to reality is one of the best feelings. The curved profile paired with some linear fluting made my heart skip a beat when I saw it for the first time. “I wanted a unique design for our fireplace so I curved the edges of the build out to play on the existing curves within the house. “When designing bedrooms, I like to play with the scale of the bed in relation to the room. I custom designed our bed to have random-width vertical channelling and made it 2’ taller than the average bed height. “Our teen son’s bathroom is small but highly functional. His 42” vanity consists entirely of drawers to maximize storage. We used oversized 18” pulls to elongate the look of the vanity and to make it feel more like a piece of furniture.” – Christy of @centrestagedesign

“Our mudroom was thoughtfully designed around the needs of our family of six. This space has been optimized for storage, allowing me to keep everything organized and tidy. The drawers for shoes make it easy for our kids to keep their shoes in one place and easily accessible when they need them. The oversized doors above are designed with hangers in behind for our jackets. Inside Rapper Drake's Manor House in Hometown Toronto

Remember the chintzy, pimped-out McMansions that were a staple of the long-running MTV series Cribs ? The Toronto home of mega recording artist Aubrey Drake Graham is something else altogether. Measuring 50,000 square feet, with amenities such as an NBA regulation-size indoor basketball court crowned by a 21-square-foot pyramidal skylight, Drake’s astonishing domicile certainly qualifies as extravagant. But instead of vast expanses of cheap drywall and mountains of ungainly furniture upholstered with a hot glue gun, stately Drake Manor, as envisioned by Canadian architectural and interior designer Ferris Rafauli, is a marvel of old-world craftsmanship, constructed of limestone, bronze, exotic woods, and other noble materials. Every detail of the sprawling property has been meticulously conceived and executed. And there isn’t a Scarface poster in sight.

Two sculptures by Kaws flank the home’s entrance. Custom bronze-and-solid-marble chandelier by Rafauli ; Escarpment Light and Nero Marquina marble cover the floor.

“Because I was building it in my hometown, I wanted the structure to stand firm for 100 years. I wanted it to have a monumental scale and feel,” Drake says of his passion project. “It will be one of the things I leave behind, so it had to be timeless and strong,” he adds.

Dubbed The Embassy, the house takes its cues from traditional Beaux Arts architecture, distilled and slightly abstracted to imbue the classic idiom with a more contemporary spirit. “In form, materials, and execution, the structure is a proper 19th-century limestone mansion. But the exterior profiles are more minimal and the lines are a bit cleaner,” says Rafauli, who heads his own namesake luxury design/build firm based in Ontario. “This isn’t stucco, paint, and fake gold. That’s not what Drake wanted, and that’s not what I do.”

Rafauli describes the crazysexycool interiors as “modern Art Deco,” again referencing a classic historical style that has been tweaked and rejuvenated to mirror the spirit of the times as well as the DNA of his high-profile client. “Once you’ve chosen a certain style, you can dance within that style,” the designer observes. Drake insists, “It’s overwhelming high luxury. That message is delivered through the size of the rooms and the materials and details of the floors and the ceilings. I wanted to make sure people can see the work I’ve put in over the years reflected from every vantage point.”

Indeed, the scale of the rooms sets the tone for the home experience from the moment one enters the vast entry hall, which is clad in solid limestone with beveled inserts of Nero Marquina marble beneath a faceted ceiling of antique mirror framed in bronze. The epic great room, which soars to 44 feet high, pumps up the volume even further. At one end of the space, a bespoke concert grand piano by the venerable Austrian piano maker Bösendorfer designed in collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and Rafauli sits nestled within a portal defined by floor-to-ceiling panels of macassar ebony set alongside bronze screens fronting more antique beveled mirror. “Drake’s world completely revolves around music, so he wasn’t going to buy just any piano. This prized possession is an authentic marriage of artistry, craft, and quality,” Rafauli notes.

The second jewel of the great room is a monumental iteration of Lobmeyr’s iconic Metropolitan chandelier, originally designed by Hans Harald Rath for the Viennese maker to decorate the Metropolitan Opera in New York City in 1963. With more than 20,000 pieces of hand-cut Swarovski crystal, the dazzling light sculpture is the second largest installation of its kind in the world.

Over the pool, a backlit slab of Nero Assoluto granite offers interchangeable atmosphere lighting.

The designer’s nods to Art Deco style become more explicit in the lavish canary-yellow lounge, which, like several other spaces in the house, can be glimpsed in Drake’s videos for his songs “When to Say When”/“Chicago Freestyle” and “Toosie Slide.” The room’s crowning glory is a foliate ceiling of concentric backlit hexagonal panels wrapped in Alcantara faux suede, with a massive Venini-glass sunburst chandelier dropped from its center. The furnishings, here as throughout the home, were all custom designed by Rafauli in materials that range from dyed ostrich skin and mohair to macassar and bronze.

Drake’s favorite spot in the house is his 3,200-square-foot master-bedroom suite, with an additional 1,100 square feet of covered terraces. “The bedroom is where I come to decompress from the world at the end of the night and where I open my eyes to seize the day,” he says. “The bed lets you float, the shower lets you escape and gather your thoughts, and the closet makes you want to talk to yourself while you’re getting dressed.”

As always, God is in the details. The bed and bed base, which weigh roughly one ton and cost more than many people’s entire homes, is from Rafauli’s new line for Hästens, called Grand Vividus. The headboard, accented with antique mirror and channel-tufted leather, encompasses a whiskey-and-­champagne bar on the reverse side. The nightstands feature mother-of-pearl inlays, and the bedding incorporates an Alexander McQueen hummingbird tapestry from The Rug Company.

The official NBA-size court is painted with details inspired by Drake’s lifestyle brand, October’s Very Own.

The centerpiece of the master bath is a 4,000-pound tub of faceted black marble carved from a single block. Equally dramatic is Drake’s two-story closet, adorned with amethyst hardware, rock crystal, and seating upholstered in diamond-tufted shearling with polished nickel studs. It’s the perfect place to display the musician’s extensive wardrobe, sneaker collection, and the array of precious Hermès Birkin bags that he has been amassing for years.

And the hits keep coming. There’s the world-class recording studio, which Drake likens to “eccentric 1970s studios mixed with Annabel’s in London”; the well-used kitchen that features the first stove from Rafauli’s new line for La Cornue; the awards room, which tells the story of Drake from his childhood to his years on the Canadian television show Degrassi: The Next Generation to his reign as a Grammy-winning artist; the hall of sports jerseys displayed in museum-like vitrines; and the indoor swimming pool sheathed in black granite.

Surveying the splendors of his Canadian pleasure palace, Drake takes the long view: “I think the house shows that I have true faith in myself to take on this task when I was just 27 and see it through,” says the now 33-year-old superstar. “I also think the house says that I will forever remain solid in the place I was born.”

2023/2024 Tour Season

In October of 2023, Home Routes kicked off their first full season since 2019, with 42 artists touring across 7 tour routes nationwide, performing  500+ concerts.

From October 2023 – May 2024,  a stellar lineup of artists, including   will take their respective shows on the road, treating audiences to some of Canada’s finest folk music, performed in some very special and often unexpected venues.

“It has been a lot of work bringing together the 2023-2024 Home Routes season, but I am thrilled by the outstanding performances we’ve witnessed so far. October and November saw a lot of musical talents setting the stage for an even more exhilarating journey from January to May,” say Home Routes Co-Executive and Artistic Director  Leonard Podolak & Cathy Crawford.

This was achieved by partnering with local community members to create a network of hosts across the country who donate their time and homes, or find appropriate venues to host music events in intimate and unique settings.

We have been inspired to do a second home tour. We want to provide a way for people to be part of the movement to end human trafficking and bring freedom to children this Christmas. We are hosting the second Christmas home tour in our historic Mt. Lehman neighbourhood for the benefit of IJM (International Justice Mission). The homes in our neighbourhood have starred in over 50 Christmas movies, mostly Hallmark.

We live in a charming country neighbourhood where we have had over 50 Christmas Ha llmark movies filmed. This Christmas we are coming together as neighbours to create a Christmas experience that will be like being inside a Hallmark movie - people can walk through the neighbourhood, see inside beautifully decorated homes, hear live Christmas music, visit Santa in a gazebo, climb up into an attic to discover a 52,000 piece Christmas LEGO train, get treats at a Christmas café and a Candy Cottage and do a QR code scavenger hunt to discover which movies the homes have been featured in.

W e’re doing this as neighbours to raise awareness about human trafficking and to help rescue people who have been enslaved - 100% of the proc eeds go to International Justice Mission.

The way our neighbourhood has come together to work for this cause is really heartwarming and a perfect story for for Christmas.

Admittedly, simply reading the word "shed" might conjure visions of craft stations and tools as far as the eye can see, but this Yardline structure can be so much more. The Yardline Upton Wood Shed is comprised of pre-cut pieces, so it can be a DIY project. However, if you're looking to ease off the elbow grease, you can also pay to have it installed on your behalf. That's exactly what Laura Lamb of Costco Hot Finds did—and she shared her experience with this on Instagram. "That’s what we chose and they had it done in one day." she captioned her IG Reel . "I can’t say enough good things about their incredible team, too."

It turns out, we're not the only ones who are intrigued by this shed: Lambs' IG followers are equally smitten. "Millennials and Gen Z, this our shot at home ownership," one viewer wrote. "This shed is amazing. I can’t say enough positive things about it. The options for its use are numerous," a second commented. Meanwhile, several people were musing about what they 'd do with the shed, throwing around ideas like turning it into an office, an in-law studio, or a home gym. "Man, I’m going to live in there," one person said.

There is one caveat to this product: The Yardline Upton Wood Shed is on sale, but it's by no means cheap. While flooring and professional installation cost an additional fee, pricing for this structure is $5,000—yes, that's with the discount. But when you think about how much extending an area of your house can cost, this shed is a worthy alternative.
