Why Miranda Lambert's Next Tour Will Be Unlike Any Other She's Ever Done

Miranda Lambert posted a list of tour dates for a nationwide trek unlike any other in her decades-long career as one of country music’s most iconic artists. Rather than touring to perform her award-winning music, Lambert is set to embark on her first-ever book tour this spring, with stops in New York, California and Texas.

Lambert is getting ready to release her own cookbook , inspired by her family. She previously shared that Y’all Eat Yet? will offer her own collection of recipes, plus “stories from my pretty b*tchin’ kitchen to yours. I was blessed to be raised by two generations of hell-raising, hard working women who knew how to make people feel good. This is a look into our lives and the food we’ve made along the way.”

The Palomino superstar has book signings scheduled in April and May. The first one will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.n. ET at Barnes & Noble in New York, New York. Next, Lambert is headed to Los Angeles, California, where she’ll host a signing at Barnes & Noble from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. PT. Finally, the Texas native will return to her home state for a signing from noon to 2 p.m. CT at the Pink Pistol in Lindale, Texas, according to information she shared on her social media channels on Monday (March 20).

Y’all Eat Yet? is set to release on April 25.

Miranda Lambert Applauds ‘Good and Drunk’ Crowd During Final Vegas Residency Show — and Promises a Return!

The singer finished the final show of her Las Vegas residency on April 6

Miranda Lambert is saying goodbye to Las Vegas — for now!

The country music singer, 40, had just finished the final show of her Las Vegas residency when an oversized screen behind her displayed the words: “That’s Y’all Folks.” “Thank you so much for coming out to the last Velvet Rodeo,” she said, referencing the name of her show, before adding, “We’ll be back Vegas. Don’t you worry about it.”

Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

This weekend's show marked the end of a year-and-a-half run in Sin City, and the most awarded ACM artist in history didn’t shy away from the historic evening, often referencing the 48th and final performance of Velvet Rodeo.  “Welcome everybody to the last and final Velvet Rodeo,” she said early in the 90-minute concert. As the crowd cheered, she added, “You sound good and drunk on a Saturday night!”

Throughout the lengthy run of the show at Bakkt Theater, Lambert thrilled her audiences with songs that spanned her entire career, seamlessly weaving in classics like 2005's “Kerosene” and 2007’s “Gunpowder & Lead,” which she meshed with 2023’s “Drunk.”

Vegas was good to Lambert and her interests, too.

Just over two weeks ago, she was presented with a $140,000 check to benefit her MuttNation charity .

The money was raised from the show at Planet Hollywood — with $1 from every ticket purchased donated to Lambert’s dog-friendly foundation, which is dedicated to promoting pet adoption, advancing spay and neuter access to pet owners and sharing resources to help people be responsible pet parents.

Lambert's residency was an unequivocal success, given that she initially signed on for 24 concerts. But, due to sales, the number of shows doubled.

In a recently shared Instagram post , Lambert said the end of her residency was a fond moment for her.

"It’s our last few days in Vegas yall! Bitter sweet for sure. 🤠🥹," the star wrote.

Now, after 48 shows, the cowgirl is riding away — but she did the show her way.

Just in case anybody had any lingering doubts regarding Miranda Lambert 's status as a country music icon, those have now been thoroughly dissipated by the news that the Texan will be returning to Las Vegas for another blockbuster residency.

With dates at Sin City’s Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood lined up throughout the rest of the year, along with a handful of festival appearances, it's safe to say Miranda has plenty of opportunities to hone and experiment with her 2023 setlist.

Here you can find Miranda Lambert’s updated setlist as she continues her 2023 concert tour and Las Vegas residency.

So far, the multiple Grammy-winner has been treating fans to electrifying renditions of fan-favourites such as ‘Bluebird’, ‘Gunpowder & Lead’, ‘Tequila Does’ and ‘Kerosene’.

Interestingly, Miranda has also been introducing a cover of Morgan Wallen's chart-topping Mother's Day hit, ‘Thought You Should Know’, into her set from time to time. Miranda Lambert co-wrote the song alongside Nicolle Galyon and Morgan Wallen , and her rendition of the sweet, heartwarming track always receives a jubilant welcome from the crowd.

In addition, a number of highlights from Miranda Lambert's latest album, Palomino , have made their way into her 2023 setlist, including ‘If I Was A Cowboy’ and ‘Geraldene’. The latter originally appeared on the singer-songwriter's widely acclaimed collaborative album with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, The Marfa Tapes .

We're curious to see how Miranda chops and changes her setlist as her 2023 run of shows continues to unfurl. With the country titan having recently released a new collaboration with Leon Bridges, ‘If You Were Mine’, it seems likely this duet will become a more regular fixture during her upcoming series of performances in Las Vegas.

Miranda Lambert promises to return to Las Vegas one day

Miranda Lambert has pledged to bring her residency back to Las Vegas one day.

The 40-year-oild country singer said goodbye to Sin City after 48 shows in 18 months on Saturday (06.04.24) but she reassured fans who were there for her final performance that she will "be back" at some point in the future.

According to People magazine, she told the audience at the end of her show: “Thank you so much for coming out to the last 'Velvet Rodeo'.

“We’ll be back Vegas. Don’t you worry about it.”

Early in the concert, Miranda praised the crowd for being well prepared for the show because they were "good and drunk".

She said: “Welcome everybody to the last and final 'Velvet Rodeo'. You sound good and drunk on a Saturday night!”

And on Sunday (07.04.24), the 'Kerosene' singer took the time to reflect on how proud she was of her 'Velvet Rodeo' residency.

She wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "“Every show must end, every circus leaves town...”

"Velvet Rodeo wrapped up last night. As a little girl in Lindale, TX, I could have never dreamed of having a Vegas residency. Thank y’all for being on this ride with us.

"And a big thank you to my band, crew, glam, and everyone else behind the scenes that made this happen. Love y’all!(sic)"

The 'Space in my Heart' hitmaker recently revealed preparing for the end of her time in Las Vegas was "bittersweet".

She wrote on Instagram: "It’s our last few days in Vegas yall! Bitter sweet for sure. [cowboy and teary-eyed emojis] (sic)"

Miranda had initially signed on for 24 concerts but due to the popularity of tickets, the number of shows were increased until the residency doubled in length.

Colleen Ballinger

Colleen Ballinger Miranda Sings Photo

Who Is Colleen Ballinger?

Colleen Ballinger uses smeared red lipstick, an altered voice and incredibly inept singing to create the egotistical and boundlessly confident character of Miranda Sings on YouTube. Since first appearing on the site in 2008, Ballinger's collection of videos has received more than a billion views and earned millions of subscribers. With Miranda, Ballinger also became a best-selling author, toured the globe, appeared on Netflix and received a Teen Choice Award in 2015. Throughout this success, Ballinger has continued to make YouTube videos as herself and as Miranda.

Early Life and Education

Colleen Mae Ballinger was born on November 21, 1986, in Santa Barbara, California. Ballinger grew up in Santa Barbara. For the 6th, 7th and 8th grades, she was homeschooled (Miranda is also homeschooled). Ballinger attended San Marcos High School before going on to Azusa Pacific University, which is a Christian college near Los Angeles.

Ballinger is very close to her family. Her parents, Tim and Gwen Ballinger, had four children: Christopher, Trent, Colleen and Rachel. Rachel used to tour with Ballinger, and Chris has worked on multiple projects with her. Chris and Rachel are also YouTubers. Ballinger's brother Trent isn't as interested in social media, though he did appear on Ballinger's YouTube to discuss getting cochlear implants (he was born hard of hearing, and this hearing loss worsened as he grew older).

YouTube Stardom

Ballinger uploaded the first Miranda Sings video to YouTube in 2008. Inspiration for the character had come from fellow students at Azusa Pacific University, where Ballinger was a vocal performance major. She had classmates who were often rude as they waited for stardom to arrive. Some of these girls couldn't sing yet still uploaded videos to YouTube, so Ballinger decided to alter her voice and appearance in order to make her own videos as an inside joke for friends.

In Ballinger's videos, Miranda is an appalling performer and opinionated individual who believes her talent is destined to take over the world. The character's style features Crocs, fully buttoned shirts and lipstick that migrates far away from her lips. Ballinger has said that many of Miranda's traits developed in response to the comments on early videos, telling Elle in 2016, "I thought it was fascinating that someone who didn't know me would take the time to say hateful things about me. Whatever haters didn't like, I would do more of in the next video."

As Miranda's unflagging confidence and nonexistent talent were on display for the first year, Ballinger's regular life continued. She'd graduated in 2008 and had gigs that included a job at Disneyland, where she performed in High School Musical and Playhouse Disney. Then in 2009 a Miranda video called "free voice lesson" went viral. Ballinger soon became a successful YouTuber, part of a breed of performers whose fame — and earnings — come from YouTube.

Fans and Haters

Though Miranda has her detractors (some videos feature her reading mail from "haters"), she also has plenty of actual fans, who are known as "Mirfandas." Ballinger told The Verge in 2016, "I’ve received thousands of letters from kids who are a little different and a little weird, and they thank me for teaching them to be confident in who they are. That’s a great lesson Miranda teaches everyone."

Ballinger counts herself among Miranda's fans. In a 2014 interview, she declared, "I love Miranda. The only way I would leave her behind would be if my fans didn’t want to watch her anymore. Certainly, I enjoy working on other projects and ambitions, but I think the only way Miranda will ever die is if my fans force me to make her die."

A recording of four holiday classics called "Christmas With Miranda Sings" came out in 2009.

Tours and Live Performances

When Miranda first took off, Ballinger got the opportunity to perform in New York City and London. Her live shows did well and she's since toured across the United States, as well as in places like Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

Ballinger has also been able to step on stage with Broadway stars like Lin-Manuel Miranda and Sutton Foster. In Ballinger's 2018 "No Offense" tour, she appeared as herself for half of the show, and as Miranda for the other half.

Selp-Helf (2015) is a collection of advice from Miranda that's co-written by Ballinger and her brother Chris. A Miranda diary — My Diarrhe — came out in 2018. Both books landed on the New York Times bestsellers list.

Ballinger and her brother Chris developed a television show to further explore Miranda and her background. The series — called Haters Back Off , a common Miranda phrase — was commissioned by Netflix, making Ballinger the first YouTuber with a scripted series. The eight episodes of the first season appeared on Netflix in October 2016; a second season followed in 2017. Netflix decided not to pick up the show for a third season.

Ballinger appeared on Netflix again in a Miranda Sings comedy special shot during her performance at the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater in Washington, D.C., on September 15, 2018.

Other Appearances

In 2014 Ballinger appeared as an angry, ranting Miranda on Jerry Seinfeld 's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee . She's also guest hosted The View and appeared on The Tonight Show .

In 2013 Ballinger was profiled on an episode MTV’s True Life . She later said, "I feel like an idiot for agreeing to it and thinking they would portray my life how it actually is."Ballinger was part of season 3 of the YouTube series Escape the Night in 2018.

Personal Life and Husband

Ballinger met fellow YouTuber Joshua Evans in 2009. After the two began dating, much of their relationship played out online, including a video they shared of their July 2015 wedding. When the couple decided to divorce a year later, Ballinger posted a video called "Life Update" to announce the decision to her fans. In it she explained that the couple's relationship had gone through difficulties and hurdles that hadn't been featured on-screen.

Erik Stocklin played friend and love interest Patrick on Haters Back Off . He and Ballinger were friends before their relationship shifted to a romantic one. They've also navigated social media differences, as Stocklin prefers more privacy.

In June 2018, Ballinger announced she was pregnant and that she and Stocklin were engaged. In July, a gender reveal video on her YouTube shared that they were expecting a boy. The pair married a few months later and welcomed their son in December 2018.

In May 2021, Ballinger announced she was pregnant with twins after suffering a miscarriage earlier in the year.

  • I think the most inspiring thing about Miranda is how confident she is, regardless of what anyone says to her.
  • Anyone can sing badly, but to sing badly on purpose and make it believable is harder. I listen for the actual melody in my head, but sing right underneath or above it out loud. It takes a lot of concentration.
  • I really tried to take advantage of my 15 minutes of fame. And I’ve gotten lucky — those 15 minutes have become several years.

Miranda Lambert Fans Are Shocked After She Hosted an "Epic" Live Gender Reveal

Miranda created the special moment for her best friend.

preview for Miranda Lambert Will Go Down in Country Music History

Miranda hosted the special moment for her "best friend slash personal assistant" Cameron Mitchell and her husband, keyboardist, bandleader and vocalist, Danny Mitchell. She revealed their baby's gender during her performance of "Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home)," alongside special guest Natalie Hemby.

The "Mama's Broken Heart" songstress shared the gender reveal clip with fans on Instagram, writing: "We had a Velvet Rodeo first last night y’all!!! A gender reveal for @cameronruthm & @iamdannymitchell ’s Tour Baby 🤍😭✨."

As the pink confetti fell, Miranda cheered, "It's a baby girl, y'all!" Of course, fans were quick to congratulate the soon-to-be parents in the comments.

"😭😭😭 congrats cam! Awwwww this is the best! Love yall! 💗💗💗," "wait but really @iamdannymitchell is gonna be the best girl dad!!! 😭 so happy for y’all. @cameronruthm 💕🌸" and "Omg most epic gender reveal ever!!!," fans gushed.

Even a few fellow country music stars jumped in to offer well wishes. "Awwww!!!! I love it!! Congrats Cam!!" and "Sweetest!!!!," Kimberly Schlapman and Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town chimed in. "This is the best!!!!," emerging artist Tigirlily Gold wrote.

This sweet gesture definitely earned Miranda some brownie points after she received some backlash last year for her on-stage behavior.

Lambert has just a handful of shows left in Las Vegas, so we'll be keeping a close eye for more heartfelt moments.

Looking for Wedding Dresses With a ‘Bachelorette’ Star

Charity Lawson earned a reputation of being a sweetheart after starring in the 20th season of “The Bachelorette,” which ended in August with her engagement to Dotun Olubeko, an integrative medicine specialist.

Ms. Lawson, 28, seemingly always has a smile on her face. She knows what she likes and she does not put up with drama, a trait that was witnessed first hand this week amid the chaos that was New York Bridal Fashion Week — a chaos that this season was exacerbated by heavy rain and wind.

The three-day event, from April 2 to 4, was an opportunity for bridal designers to show their latest collections to journalists, buyers and, in Ms. Lawson’s case, a bride-to-be who is starting to look for dresses for her 2025 wedding.

She hopes to have a dress chosen by July for the wedding she is planning in California next fall, which will be followed by a traditional Nigerian celebration in Lagos, Nigeria, to honor her fiancé’s heritage.

Before becoming a “Bachelorette,” Ms. Lawson, 28, was a contestant on the 27th season of “The Bachelor,” which premiered in January 2023. Later that year, she appeared on season 32 of “Dancing With the Stars,” finishing in fourth place with her dance partner Artem Chigvintsev.

“It’s a lot,” Ms. Lawson, a former children’s therapist, said about appearing in back-to-back-to-back reality television shows broadcast last year. “I came into all of this quickly. I didn’t envision myself even being engaged.”

The New York Times followed her for two days during Bridal Fashion Week as she made her way to runway shows, presentations and private appointments around the city.

Seated guests, including Charity Lawson, take pictures of a model wearing a white dress on the runway.

3:15 p.m.: Ines Di Santo Show and an Unplanned Interview

Ms. Lawson’s first Bridal Fashion Week stop was the Ines Di Santo runway show at Lavan, a venue in Midtown Manhattan. She was behind schedule, running on a few hours of sleep after a late-night flight from Los Angeles. The abysmal traffic she hit on the way to midtown from her brownstone near Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, where she moved in January, did not help.

She frantically rushed into the modern event space bathed in blue lights, which dimmed just as she took her front-row seat.

After the label’s eponymous designer ended the show with a bow, some guests rushed to greet Ms. Lawson. One asked if she had chosen her wedding gown yet. Others asked for photos. An editor offered to feature her on the cover of a magazine. And a tabloid reporter ambushed her, asking Ms. Lawson a jumble of questions about topics like her wedding date and if she has any “travel hacks.” (“I don’t,” Ms. Lawson said.)

“Very random questions,” she later said. “Anything to get a little headline. People want me to disclose our wedding day so bad — that is between me, my family and fiancé.”

Ms. Lawson left the venue during a torrential downpour, scurrying around in the rain as she tried to locate her Uber ride. The moment had all the elements of a classic rom-com scene. As she made her way into the car, the driver shouted, “Hurry up!”

“Welcome to New York,” she said jokingly.

4:30 p.m.: Letting Her Collarbones Shine at Rime Arodaky

Rime Arodaky, a French bridal designer, makes wedding dresses that exude French-girl cool. For a preview of her namesake label’s 2025 collection, Ms. Arodaky had filled her airy showroom in the Soho neighborhood of Manhattan with her dainty designs.

Ms. Lawson browsed the garments and, after selecting five of her favorite pieces, went behind a curtain with Ms. Arodaky, who pinned the dresses to fit her frame.

After trying on a strapless pleated gown with a detachable scarf-sleeve, Ms. Lawson walked over to a big mirror and stepped onto an elevated platform.

“I’m obsessed,” she said. “This is a moment. It’s so romantic and elegant.” She struggled to peel herself away from the mirror.

It was the first wedding dress she had ever tried on.

She’s a fan of the sweetheart neckline: “I have good collarbones,” she said. “I’ve got to show the collarbones.”

2 p.m.: Tears at Francesca Miranda

Ms. Lawson’s second day of Bridal Fashion Week began with an appointment with Francesca Miranda, a designer in Barranquilla, Colombia, who arrived in New York just days before she presented her collection.

Ms. Lawson selected six dresses from the racks full of items that the designer had arranged in a large, rustic studio in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.

As she tried them on, she honed in on elements she preferred: strapless or off-the-shoulder sleeves; ivory shades instead of snow-white; and definitely no ball-gown silhouettes.

Ms. Lawson said that she thinks some people see her as a Disney princess.

“But that’s not who I am,” she said. “I don’t want my wedding day to be costume-y.”

She tried on a feathered pantsuit, which she thought was well-suited for her bachelorette or rehearsal dinner. “It’s bridal meets Cher,” said Daniella Jassir, Ms. Miranda’s daughter and the marketing director for her mother’s namesake brand.

Another piece — a long-sleeve illusion dress with a detachable tulle-organza overskirt — was completely out of Ms. Lawson’s comfort zone. When Ms. Miranda and Ms. Jassir fastened the matching veil in her hair, Ms. Lawson took a peek in a mirror and shed tears.

After gently wiping them away, she said, “Mark this as a favorite.”

3:30 p.m.: Matcha Break and a Tour at Nardos

Ms. Lawson wore a black trench coat, a printed mock neck dress and pointy vinyl boots for her second day of bridal fashion week. After getting caught in the rain in open-toe shoes the day before, she had learned her lesson, she said.

She took an afternoon break from her schedule of appointments and presentations at a coffee shop, where she ordered an iced matcha latte and a croissant. After taking a seat by the shop’s foggy windows, she reflected on her tearful moment while trying on the Francesca Miranda gown.

“It was hitting me, it’s happening,” Ms. Lawson said. “I look like a bride. I feel like a bride.”

She left the coffee shop and hopped into a cab. On the ride she played a string of twangy songs from “Cowboy Carter,” Beyoncé’s latest album, from her phone through the car’s stereo.

“I’m not really a country girl, but Southern by upbringing,” said Ms. Lawson, who was raised in Columbus, Ga. “This was the perfect combo,” she added of the album. “A little touch of the South, a touch of the country.”

About forty minutes later, she was greeted by the bridal designer Nardos Imam at Ms. Imam’s three-story salon on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The designer’s new collection for her brand, Nardos, was displayed on the ground floor, with a few models roaming around in some of her latest designs.

“Her stuff gives more couture,” Ms. Lawson said after a tour of the salon. “Very high end. I like the drama of couture.”

She took a few mirror selfies, looked at a few more dresses and posed for photos with a few more starry-eyed fans before making her way to her final event.

5 p.m.: A Collection of Favorites at Esé Azénabor

Ms. Lawson’s last Bridal Fashion Week event might have been the one she was most excited for: The designer Esé Azénabor ’s presentation at her Madison Avenue flagship boutique. Ms. Azénabor, who is Nigerian, has a cult following, particularly among brides of color. Her namesake label is also a favorite of Ms. Lawson’s mother-in-law.

The boutique had been reconfigured for a runway show, with seats for about 60 guests. Models walked onto an elevated platform one by one, with Ms. Azénabor popping up a number of times to unpin detachable trains, veils, tops and skirts. One such element was a silk mikado ball skirt attached to an off-the-shoulder top that, when unpinned, transformed the garment from a gown to a jumpsuit finished with pearls and crystals.

Ms. Lawson, watching with wide eyes and an open mouth, let out an audible gasp.

The 20-minute show was full of embellishments and bling. “Don’t ask me which one’s my favorite,” Ms. Lawson said after the presentation. “All of them.”

She excitedly told Ms. Azénabor about her future husband and their shared Nigerian background. “His mother loves your work,” Ms. Lawson said.

“You all have to come to the store,” Ms. Azénabor said. “When it looks like a store.”

Ms. Lawson replied, “I’m in New York, so I will be back.”
