Good short trip if you want to experience both the deserts and mountains of Morocco. Obviously lots of driving (unavoidable - as you can't move mountains), but the bus was decent.

5 day trip: Sahara Fun Outdoor Experience Tour

5 day trip: Sahara Fun Outdoor Experience

I recently embarked on an amazing 5-day trip from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert, and it exceeded all my expectations. From thrilling treks through breathtaking landscapes to the freedom of horseback riding and the magic of camel riding, each activity was a unique adventure. Nights spent camping under a canopy of stars added an element of tranquility and serenity to the trip. The highlight was undoubtedly the breathtaking hot air balloon ride, which provided an unparalleled aerial perspective of the vast desert. And we can't forget the adrenaline rush of riding ATVs over the golden dunes. The trip was expertly organized, the guides were knowledgeable and friendly, and the whole experience left me with unforgettable memories of Morocco's diverse and magical beauty.

5 days desert trip from Marrakesh

We were a group of 8 who chose this 5-day tour option. The whole thing from start to finish worked perfectly. The itinerary is well structured and a good balance of outdoor activities with cultural aspects and amazing scenery. There is a lot of driving time, but the views of the landscape are worth it, highly recommended.

Thank you for my time in Morocco. It was very good. All my tour leaders were excellent. It would nice if our tour leaders could eat with us so that we could ask them questions and clarify any questions we have. The pace was very fast but I enjoyed everything especially Ait Ben Haddou and watching the sunrise in the Sahara Desert/

10-Day Kasbahs & Deserts of Morocco - Private tour

Morocco was fantastic, and the tour explored many intriguing areas. The daily travel was a bit lengthy, as mentioned in the initial itinerary, so we were prepared for it. However, I recommend reconsidering some of the accommodations and included meals, as we found ourselves paying tourist prices for varying quality at each stop.

What people love about Sahara Desert Tours

Ali was an incredible guide and I would thoroughly recommend booking with Morocco Joy Travel. We travelled with our 2 kids (8 &9) and Ali made it such a wonderful adventure for our family. He was so warm and kind, knowledgeable and thoughtful. We opted for the luxury accommodation and it surpassed our expectations. There was a lot of driving but the vehicle was very comfortable and Ali was so knowledgeable and a pleasure to tour with. We are left with wonderful memories of sunsets, fossil digging, sand dune exploring, camel riding, drum playing, spectacular scenery, delicious meals…thank you Ali…we cannot wait to visit again!
I recently returned from a fabulous tour with Morocco Joy.....4days/3 nights Sahara Experience. Never having travelled solo before, I was a little concerned about this new experience. I needn't have worried at all. Ali put me at ease from the first moment I got in his van. He was very knowledgeable and did everything he could to make my tour the tour of a lifetime. He even went so far as to help me take photos of a toy my young granddaughter asked me to bring with me and take photos of as we traveled around the country. We were in fits of laughter when Ali tried to teach the doll how to drive. My granddaughter and I will never forget this trip! Thanks, Ali.
It was an unforgettable tour and the amount of things we could see and do in only one week was unbelievable. Even though we spent a big part of the time driving, there were enough stops in between and I also got this strange feeling that time was passing more slowly on this trip, simply because we experienced so much. In the car, we could watch the scenery from the windows and people when driving through towns and villages. We could also take naps in the car, all in all it was a relaxing trip despite being full of adventure as well. Karim was a great guide, not least due to his humor and smiling. I also saw that he was good at dealing with different people within our group. He seemed to know almost everyone personally wherever we went, chatting briefly with people on our way. A few negatives though, a tiny part of the overall experience. We stopped 2-3 times shops for traditional handicraft (e.g. pottery) which I disliked as I'm not into shopping and found these stops too commercial. A stop at a place for making argan oil products was also too sales driven for my taste although I thought it was interesting to hear about the production process. Some of the women on the group bought something there, so they probably had a more positive view. There was also one stop at the end of the 4x4 excursion in the desert to listen to local music, which I think nobody particularly enjoyed. If you are going to Morocco for the first time, I would highly recommend this tour.

From the medinas of Marrakech to the sands of the Sahara - introducing our newest short break

Giant gorges, ancient architecture and a taste of local hospitality await you on a three-day mini-adventure from the buzzing streets of Marrakesh to the serene stillness of the Sahara Desert . Be transported to what can feel like another world as you wind your way through the towering Todra Valley and roam the earthen architecture at Ait Benhaddou (of Hollywood fame). You'll then have the best seat in the house for a magical Saharan sunset - on the back of a camel - before finishing your day in the desert sleeping under the stars. Believe us, this is one trip you’ll be glad you went on.

Highlights of the Sahara Mini Adventure

People looking out over Ait Benhaddou

A day out at Ait Benhaddou

Ait Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and with one look at this ancient city, you can see why. Approximately dating back to the 17 th century, this mudbrick ksar is an example of pre-Saharan natural construction that once served as a Sahara trading post. It’s since been revived by Hollywood, so you might just recognise it from some pretty big films – does The Mummy , Lawrence of Arabia or Gladiator ring any bells? Before leaving, you’ll be treated to a delicious meal courtesy of the women of the Tawesna Association at a nearby teahouse.

A guide taking travellers through Marrakech

Meander in Marrakech

For a starting and finishing point, you can’t really ask for a better place than Marrakech. With its enticing food stalls, vibrant goods, bountiful gardens, engaging entertainers and unique architecture gracing every corner, there’s a souk’s worth of activities to keep you occupied. The beauty of Marrakech is that it’s a choose-your-own-adventure city. Unwind in serene riads or local spas, take your tastebuds on a culinary journey , or jumpstart your Morocco tour with exciting adventures quad biking in the desert or cycling the city streets of Marrakech .

Camels lounging in the Sahara Desert

Sand, sun and stars in the Sahara

Take a gander on camelback through the spectacular sands of the Sahara Desert and experience the colour-changing landscape by sunrise and sunset. You’ll be taken to the Erg Chebbi  sand dunes, the largest dunes in Morocco. Watch as they move with the wind and change hue depending on the time of day. After experiencing the hubbub of Marrakech, fall asleep to peace and quiet under the grandeur of a full desert starry night. If you’re going to visit the largest hot desert in the world, we think you might as well stay the night.

Clinking mint tea around the table in Morocco

Towering Todra Gorge and local flavours

Among the man-made wonders of Morocco sits the impressive Todra Valley . Home to Todra Gorge and Todra River, the area is a burst of bright green farmlands cutting through the rocky, dusty terrain. You’ll get a chance to experience the region’s produce after a morning sojourn through the 400 meters high sandstone canyons as you sit down for a picnic provided by the members of the local Amazigh Women’s Association. Savour local specialities, from the country-favourite mint tea to speciality bread with olive oil; it’s the perfect Moroccan meal .

Where is the Sahara Desert?

The Sahara Desert is located in North Africa. It spans a mighty 9,200,000 square kilometres across 10 countries, including Morocco, Egypt, Mali and Libya. It's the world's largest hot desert, and the third-largest desert after Antarctica and the Arctic.

What's the weather like in the Sahara Desert?

As a desert region, the Sahara can experience extreme weather. Winter (December to February) can be very cold, with overnight temperatures dropping to 5°C or lower. You'll need a sleeping bag, thermals, a scarf, gloves and a warm jacket for travel in winter. Oh, and be prepared for cold showers at your desert camp!

Summer (June to September) can be very hot with intense temperatures that can reach the high 40°Cs. This might be too uncomfortable for those not used to the heat. It’s super important to use sun protection and stay hydrated. That said, the desert can still get pretty chilly at night when the sun goes down, so you'll need a fleece to rug up.

Spring (March to May) sees the arrival of strong winds and there is an increased risk of sandstorms in April – but don't worry, your leader will always check the forecast beforehand to see if it's safe to stay in the desert.

When is the best time to visit the Sahara Desert?

The best time to visit the Sahara Desert is during the spring months between March to May, as well as the autumn months of October and November. During these times, the desert temperatures are hot but manageable and the nights don’t get quite as cold. Although one thing to note is that between January to May there is usually a higher number of sandstorms recorded, especially in April.

What clothing should I wear in the Sahara Desert?

What to pack will differ slightly depending on the time of year and the activities you'll be doing. But below are the basics you'll need:

  • Light scarf or face mask can be handy for preventing you from inhaling desert dust
  • Sun hat – wide-brimmed, ideally, to protect your face and head from the sun's rays and strong winds
  • Sunscreen – when you're in the desert, it goes without saying!
  • Small daypack for day trips and excursions
  • Light, loose-fitting pants
  • Joggers or jeans for camel rides
  • Long-sleeved shirts
  • Fleece – for all seasons
  • Warm layers (for winter trips) – you'll need thermals, gloves, a woolly hat and a fleece to rug up as the temperatures can drop to below freezing at night
  • Small head torch – handy for going to the bathroom at night
  • Thongs (flip flops) for camp
  • Hiking shoes or runners

What animals live in the Sahara Desert?

The Sahara Desert is one of the fiercest environments for animal life. The mammals that live in the Sahara range from Saharan cheetahs, dromedary camels and desert foxes to gazelles, ostrich, hyrax and African wild dogs. Reptile life includes the desert crocodile, sand viper and the desert monitor. Other common species include the deathstalker scorpion and the Saharan silver ant as well as over 90 species of birds.

Do I need to purchase travel insurance for a Sahara Desert tour?

You sure do. All passengers travelling with Intrepid are required to purchase travel insurance before the start of their tour. Your travel insurance details will be recorded by your leader on the first day of the trip. Due to the varying nature, availability and cost of health care around the world, travel insurance is very much an essential and necessary part of every journey.

Learn more about travel insurance.

Are Intrepid's Sahara Desert trips accessible for travellers with disabilities?

Intrepid is committed to making travel widely accessible , regardless of ability or disability. That’s why we do our best to help as many people see the world as possible, regardless of any physical or mental limitations they might have. We’re always happy to talk to travellers with disabilities and see if we can help guide them towards the most suitable itinerary for their needs and where possible, make reasonable adjustments to our itineraries.

Are there any cultural etiquette tips for Morocco Guided Tours?

Yes, there are several cultural etiquette tips to keep in mind when embarking on Morocco Guided Tours to ensure a respectful and enjoyable experience:

  • Dress Modestly: Morocco is a predominantly Muslim country with conservative dress norms. When visiting religious sites, markets, or rural areas, it’s respectful to dress modestly, covering shoulders, cleavage, and knees. Women may consider wearing a headscarf when entering mosques.
  • Greetings: Use polite greetings such as “Salam alaykum” (peace be upon you) and reply with “Wa alaykum salam” (and peace be upon you) when greeted. A handshake is common in more urban areas, but it’s polite to wait for a local’s lead.
  • Respect Religious Practices: When visiting mosques, follow the rules, and ask your guide for guidance on appropriate behavior. Non-Muslims are often not allowed inside some mosques.
  • Photography Etiquette: Always ask for permission before taking photos of people, especially in rural areas. Some locals may request a small fee for photos.
  • Respect Privacy: Avoid entering private homes or spaces without permission. Moroccan hospitality is warm, but it’s essential to be invited.
  • Use Your Right Hand: When eating or passing items to others, use your right hand, as the left hand is traditionally considered unclean.
  • Haggling: Bargaining is common in Moroccan markets (souks). However, do it respectfully and with a sense of humour. Be prepared to negotiate prices.
  • Ramadan: If your tour falls during Ramadan, be mindful of fasting hours. Eating, drinking, and smoking in public during the day can be considered disrespectful.
  • Respect Local Customs: Be aware of local customs and traditions, such as removing your shoes before entering someone’s home.
  • Language: Learning a few basic Arabic or Berber phrases, such as “Shukran” (thank you) and “La shukran” (no thank you), can go a long way in showing respect for the local culture.
  • Tipping: Tipping is customary in Morocco. It’s appreciated to tip guides, drivers, and service staff in restaurants and hotels.
  • Public Displays of Affection: Public displays of affection should be kept to a minimum, as they may be considered inappropriate in certain contexts.

By respecting these cultural etiquette tips, you’ll not only ensure a positive and respectful interaction with the local population but also have a more immersive and enriching experience during your Morocco Guided Tour. Are Morocco Group Tours a cost-effective way to explore the country?

Morocco Group Tours can be a cost-effective way to explore the country, depending on your travel preferences and priorities. Here are some factors to consider:

  • Shared Costs: Group tours often distribute expenses such as transportation, accommodation, and guides among the participants, making it more cost-effective per person compared to solo travel or private tours.

My friend booked this tour for our group, Three 20-year-old women. Nervous and excited for what was to come, we awaited our pick-up time. Bags on our back, we wonder what the next three days would include, who would drive us, and what we would see. I'm happy to report it was the best 3 days of our time in Morocco...

Reviews talk!

The best morocco desert tours.

“We are really pleased to have worked with them. We received excellent guidance for our excursion. Lblar and Hassan always provide unique and pleasant service. They have demonstrated exceptional professionalism and efficiency in their job. Everything that was agreed upon was carried out exactly as anticipated. Without a doubt, I will return to discuss with you during our next holiday.”

Clean accommodations!

“All of the locations are breathtaking. It's a thousand times better! All of the personnel engaged in the Morocco Desert Tours organization provided excellent service! Everything was fantastic! Professional, well-organized, and meticulous in every aspect. Hassan, our extremely pleasant and knowledgable guide, was there for us at all times, even after the tour was over. Excellent accomodation and meals. Definitely recommended!”

Morocco in 5 days!

“We took a five journey across the Merzouga desert from Marrakech to Fes, and it was an incredible experience. We were fortunate to spend those days with Mohamed, the driver, a Merzouga local. Who contributed to the authenticity of our journey. We've been able to observe how the Berber people live since he has patiently answered all of our questions. We were devastated to have to say good-by to him. We would absolutely recommend it to anybody planning a trip to Morocco. ”

Thanks Hassan and Lblar!

“An amazing adventure. We first met Youssef, who made our holiday unforgettable. Our adventure from Tangier to Marrakech began with a drive over the desert dunes with our wonderful guide Said. The desert was our objective, and we hallucinated, especially when reclining beneath the stars in the middle of the desert, and we observed a lot of Moroccan beauty from north to south. Thank you, Lblar and Bouwltof; you are an amazing family who have taught us about another country, customs, and way of life.”

We love Unique Desert Tour!

“We only had a few days and were unable to complete the three-day, two-night desert adventure. They gave us the option of doing only one night, picking us up in Fes, taking us to the desert, and then taking us to Marrakech the next day. Hamid, our private guide, did an excellent job of taking us to several locations and explaining many things. Laughing and displaying a keen interest in studying a variety of languages (he already speaks half a dozen!). Without a doubt, this is an experience that should not be missed! We'll spend more nights in the desert the next time! Feel free to contact Unique Desert Tour for Morocco desert Tours.”

Morocco Camel Trekking

“The fact is that the vacation exceeded my expectations. We began contacting Unique Desert Tour and scheduled a vacation. With impeccable timeliness and a lot of support from Mohamed the driver, a very cheerful Berber lad, always with a smile, very competent driver and a good desert aficionado. It's amazing how young nomads adapt to various languages and learn alongside others. A very long but magnificent trip to visit Fez, the cultural capital, Dades, the Gorges of Todra, and conclude in Chefchaouen, the blue city, with two young and extremely knowledgeable guides who taught us about their cities and Islamism. It is recommended for Morocco Desert Tours.”

Top locations to visit with Unique Desert Tour

Morocco Desert Tours will take you to numerous gorgeous sites and amazing activities. As a result, we’ve included them below so you can get a sense of where you’re going.

The list does not include all of the details. If you would want to incorporate any place, activity, or stop in your trip with us, please let us know.

Marrakech was established in 1071 by the Almoravid dynasty’s ruler Youssef Ibn Tachfin. That is to say, because of Almoravids were a particularly devout people, the city of Marrakech saw fit to erect several mosques with minarets in its streets during the time. In addition to pointing to the sky, there are Koranic schools that teach future imams. Parallel to the development of religious structures. Also, many of the city’s craftspeople arrived from Cordoba or Seville, Spain, during this time period. The city was created with monuments that are today synonymous with Marrakech, including the red ramparts and different city gates.

In the hands of Almohads:

The Almohads took control of the city in the eleventh century. From the High Atlas, who exterminated the Almoravids and demolished their many constructions. The renowned Koutoubia mosque from this time still stands in Marrakech. Furthermore, the strength of its external construction elevates it to one of the most stunning Moroccan representations of Moorish art. At the same period, the Bab Agnaou gate was built.

Following the Almohade dynasty, numerous peoples succeeded one another at the helm of the red city. For many years, Marrakech was ignored. Marrakech would not regain its splendor until the sixteenth century, following the capture of the city by the Saadians. The majestic El Badi Palace, located in the Mellah neighborhood, is still one of the most attractive sights to see in the ochre city. Sultan Ahmed al-Mansur Dhahbi constructed it to commemorate his army’s victory over the Portuguese adversary at the “Battle of the Three Kings.” This effectively put an end to Portugal’s aspirations to conquer Morocco. You also think that the Saadians’ tomb dated from this epoch…

During the Alaouites power:

As the Alaouites seize control from the Saadians, the city of Marrakech will lose appeal to these people, who will instead pick Meknes as their imperial capital. It will therefore take until 1912 and the French protectorate for the city to evolve again, with the appearance of the new district of Guéliz. Companies and banks have their headquarters in this neighborhood. The city government, as well as prominent luxury brands and retail boutiques. There are also numerous global eateries and legendary cafés there.

Marrakech is not just a popular tourist destination, but it is also the starting place for our Unique Desert Tour Morocco Tours.

Fez’s history is intertwined with the history of Morocco, as it is the country’s first Muslim metropolis. For a long time, the capital was a competitor to Marrakech, Meknes, or Rabat. Today. Fez is the country’s spiritual capital.

Foundation of Fez:

This region was inhabited by Berbers prior to the advent of the Arabs. It is also after. The Arabs, then, are city inhabitants, but the Berbers are more rural.

Fez was founded in 788 by Idriss ben Abdellah, the founder of the first Muslim dynasty in the Maghreb, the Idrissides.

The chosen location will be at a crossroads where multiple trade routes intersect:

– From the south (Sijilmissa and Mali) to the north (Ports of Tangier and Ceuta). – East (Marrakech) and west (Tlemcen, Tunis, and further on Cairo and Mecca or Damascus).

The river Oued Fez and gushing springs flourish in the future Fez. Furthermore, the surrounds are excellent for agricultural production and include building resources like as stone, clay, and wood from the Middle Atlas Mountains.

Families banished from Cordoba (now Spain) and Kairouan (now Tunisia) progressively inhabit both banks of the river, resulting in two distinct cities:

  • The Karouanais bank is on the right bank.
  • The Andalusians’ bank on the left bank (little tourist today).

Fatima el Fihriya, a Kairouanese aristocrat, founded the Quaraouiyine mosque in 859. Furthermore, it will be the first Muslim university in the world, maybe even before Bologna in Italy. The Al-Andalus mosque is situated on the opposite bank.

The banks are united in a walled enclosure (1069) with the Almoravides dynasty: the modern Medina of Fez.

Under the Almohad rigorists, the city grew and became an important intellectual center.

The Golden Age of Fez:

The emergence of the new Merinid dynasty is a watershed moment.

In 1276, Abu Youssef chose to abandon the Kasbah Nouar in the Medina and create a new neighborhood farther west: Fez la Blanche, la Neuve, or Fez El Jedid in Arabic.

A palace was constructed, the region was home to troops (the Mellah), and residential sections were soon fortified. The increased power was not universally welcomed by the populace. As a result, it was critical not to take any chances.

Several measures were taken to reduce the opposition of the population:

Sumptuous colleges (Medersa) were established in Medina to erode the religious influence of major mosques opposed to the government. Poor students from all around the realm come to train under the sultan’s lavish sponsorship. They will grow into appreciative and loyal citizens and civil servants. The discovery of the grave of the founder, Idriss ben Abdellah, is a good cause to relocate the Jews from Medina to the ancient Mellah fortress. 1 stone, 2 blows: The new holy site will be kept safe from unbelievers. Above important, the monarch will divide the influence of Fez’s merchants by keeping the Jews under his command.

It is the golden era of Fez, and the Christians’ reconquest of Granada draws the Muslims into the city, bringing with them their know-how as a legacy.

Fez will become a storehouse of Arab-Andalusian culture, particularly in architecture, music, and gastronomy.

The decline of Fez:

  • Fez deteriorated under the Ouattassides (or Wattassides), and in 1522, the city was devastated by a devastating earthquake.
  • The Saadians chose Marrakech as their capital, and erected the El Badi Palace there. The new monarchy will encircle Fez with castles because it is distrustful of the populace.
  • For a while, Fez was the capital under the Alaouites. Then it’s Meknes’ turn for a while. Many independence rebellions spring out under French protectorate, challenging the sultan’s power: Rabat becomes the new capital, safer.

Fes is one of the highlights of our Unique Desert Tour Morocco tours. From this cultural city, you can start your journey towards the Sahara desert or to any destination in general.

Merzouga is most likely the greatest and most memorable of our Morocco vacation sites. A metropolis that appears to be floating in nothingness, remote from everything and everyone, and enveloped in a dreamlike stillness. Merzouga is a desert stretch in the Sahara. Crossing its dunes is a lively experience, one not to be missed on your Morocco holiday.

Sahara is an Arabic term that means “loneliness,” but viewing some Moroccan landscapes gives you a sense of anything but solitude. On the contrary, there are locations where the spirit and heart may be filled. Merzouga is among them. Seeing the sun rise and set among the sand dunes is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The tallest dunes in the Sahara desert, some of which are over a hundred meters high, may be found in this beautiful location. Merzouga’s dunes, known as Erg Chebbi, are located in the southeast of Morocco.

The region is made up of a small cluster of dwellings divided by two streets: one that runs from the desert to Rissani and one where tourists may purchase food from the few businesses that exist. From Merzouga, you may go on some amazing adventures, such as riding a camel or a dromedary across the desert and appreciating the sunrises and sunsets, as well as the starry sky at night. Those who do not enjoy this type of experience. Even more daring is the trip with a 4 x 4 off-road vehicle, during which you may cross the dunes and visit a Berber family when you are tired.

Merzouga and its dunes put up a spectacular performance. The sensation you have in front of this natural wonder is nearly helplessness. The stillness that envelops you, the breeze that caresses your hair, and the sun that warms not only your body but also your heart.

This is Merzouga, a location where you feel alone in the middle of nowhere while still being surrounded by wonderful feelings that only nature can provide. Unlike other regions of the Sahara, the Erg Chebbi is defined by a thirty-kilometer-long cordon of golden dunes. Merzouga’s dunes, which exceed 150 meters in height and dominate the oasis of the same name, are among the tallest.

During the day, the hue of these dunes changes from pink to gold to red. In the winter, you may witness an even more thrilling display. In fact, a tiny lake, the Dayet Srji, emerges among the dunes, attracting hundreds of pink flamingos and storks.

Chefchaouen:

Chefchaouen is a tiny hamlet in northern Morocco’s highlands that offers a magnificent Mediterranean backdrop. It has big legendary whitewashed blue corridors and a genuine and friendly ambiance. This city is a respite for tired travelers, a source of inspiration for photographers, and a treasure for the curious traveller.

We encourage you to explore this unique medina with a sense of nostalgia. This is a historic city where you will be served as much mint tea as marijuana and where you will be able to converse in both French and Spanish. This is a place where you can take your time to relax and experience the cultural variety of northern Morocco.

The Kasbah of Chefchaouen :

The kasbah is one of the primary historical attractions of the medina, and it is accessible via the location Outa el Hammam for a fee of 10 Dh at the entry. It is unlikely to be the most magnificent of the kasbahs you will have the opportunity to visit during your time in Morocco. However, it is still a fascinating landmark to find. Inside these walls, which Rachid Ben Ali constructed in 1471, you will find a lovely garden and a glimpse of an extremely amazing building.

Throughout your Morocco Desert Tours travel, you will find an old jail as well as the ethnological museum of the town of Chefchaouen, which houses a vast collection of folk art and handicrafts from the country’s north. Make sure you don’t leave the premises without going to the top of the kasbah tower, which will provide you with a 360-degree view of the surroundings, particularly the grand mosque.

The gates of the medina :

Chefchaouen is no exception. The Medina is coated in many colors of blue, yet some elements stand out strongly from this magnificent blue. These are the doors. Throughout my time in this city, I was obsessed by the many doors of houses, riads, and shops. They might be a striking and vibrant hue, or they can be neutral with distinctive and glossy handles.

The Spanish Mosque:

We confined ourselves to the Spanish mosque located on the route leading to the Ras-el-Ma waterfall and the kif fields, despite the fact that there is a great range of treks to do in this region of the nation. The Ras-el-Ma water spring is a wonderful spot to take a breather and appreciate the residents’ animation as well as the wilder scenery. In terms of hiking, it is a very pleasant ascent that lasts about 15 minutes. When you arrive at the mosque, you may take some time to rest and enjoy the wonderful view of the city. The show is really stunning!

A Morocco trip with Morocco Desert Tours agency:

If you want to visit Chefchaouen on your trip to Morocco, we recommend that you book a tour with us. Morocco Desert Tours local guides can provide you with a comprehensive exploration of everything this city has to offer.

History of Meknes:

The Inter-Governmental Commission of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization designated Meknes as a World Heritage Site in December 1996.

It is one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. It enjoyed a time of tremendous wealth during the reign of Moulay Ismail, and what remains of this age of grandeur and prior eras makes this city a vital stop on any journey with Morocco Desert Tours. Meknes was chosen as Moulay Ismael’s capital for strategic, political, and geographical reasons. Remember that Louis XIV was the reigning monarch of France at the time. The well-known tale is Moulay Ismael’s marriage proposal to one of Louis XIV’s daughters, which did not take place since the suitor already had three wives. Louis sent him three Comtois clocks, which are still visible in the mausoleum!

In addition to its apparent architectural attraction to even the most casual tourist, the Meknes Kasbah is significant since it represents the Alaouite dynasty’s first great effort. A Moroccan dynasty that has ruled for almost 300 years. The Ismaili Kasbah is an important piece of Moroccan architectural heritage. Its monuments captivate the mind due to their apparent variety as well as their essential uniformity.

On the ornamental plan, a specific number of doors are marked (Bab Mansour Laalej and Bab Errih). Allow entry to a palace, a sub-assembly, or even the entire Kasbah. It is primarily these doors that deserve the moniker “Meknes, capital of magnificent doors.”

Gate of Bab El Mansour:

The city of Meknes was built in the 10th century by the Zenet Meknassa tribe from Morocco’s east. She was drawn to the region by the fertility of the land, the quantity of water, and the beauty of its gardens. This tribe was also responsible for the establishment of the city of Taza. Prior to its construction, there were just a succession of villages with no ramparts that coexisted peacefully in an agricultural existence based on Berber customs.

Building mosques:

The Almoravids fortified the city in the 11th century. In the twelfth century, the Almohads repopulated it and erected mosques and hammams (Moorish baths). Mohammed An-Nasir, the fourth Almohad ruler, renovated the grand mosque and added a mihrab (around 1203). Abu Yusuf constructed a Kasbah, and Meknes became the home of the viziers.

Many monuments were erected by Abu Youssef and Abu El Hassan during the Merinids’ reign in the 13th century. Meknes will really become a Hispano-Maghrebian metropolis under the Merinids.

The cities of the north lost prominence under the Saâdyines’ reign. Meknes did not become the first imperial city until the end of the 17th century, with the arrival of the second Alaouite sultan. Moulay Ismael, the governor at the time, gave it remarkable growth; he wished to make it a magnificent capital. As a result, he made it his permanent home and adorned it with several spectacular structures: opulent palaces, mosques, madrasas (schools) with harmonic ensembles, towering gateways, formidable fortifications, vast gardens, ponds…

Prison of Kara:

Moulay Ismael died in 1727, and his son Moulay Abdellah continued and completed portions of his father’s work. Several monuments were added to Meknes during his rule, which lasted from 1757 until 1790. He constructed mosques, mausoleums, and the Dar Beîda mansion, which is currently home to the Royal Military Academy. The Alaouites have not stopped being king builders to this day, and the Kasbah of Meknes is consequently of great importance.

Meknes now consists of a historic and contemporary city divided by the Boufekrane wadi valley. The new city offers a stunning perspective of the medina, with its numerous minarets, walls, and imperial city.

Casablanca:

Morocco Casablanca sprang established atop the ruins of an ancient city called Anfa. It was significant in Moroccan history toward the end of the seventh century. Also, it is the beginning of the eighth century. Anfa was a rich city with a prosperous agricultural hinterland. It was also a former fishing harbor. Destroyed by Portuguese invasions in the 15th and early 16th centuries. Sultan Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah will then rebuild the city in the 18th century (1757-1790). The white city had just a thousand residents at the middle of the nineteenth century.

The city’s port gradually connected it to the rest of the globe. It piqued the curiosity of Europeans, who were motivated by commerce. Then it established itself as the European counter-point of North Africa, and it became Morocco’s first export port.

The port’s traffic is propelled by the advancement of steam navigation and the expansion of the textile industry. Following that, it will become one of the Mediterranean basin’s biggest suppliers of wool.

They established a regular marine route between Marseille and Casablanca in 1862.

The port of Casablanca, the kingdom’s first big modern port, was built in 1912 and boosted the city’s and region’s economic activities. As a result, it drew a large number of investors and workers.

Casablanca, the economical capital city:

It so determined the fate of the little city of Dar al Baida, which grew to become the country’s main economic center, metropolis, and financial capital.

Between 1910 and 1950, the city experiences a prosperous period of establishing large construction sites, including the planning of large avenues, the construction of large buildings, the organization of regular shipping lines… It is also the period of the beginning of the electric car, with the Euro-automobile Rally Casablanca in 1920.

The invasion of the Allies in North Africa in November 1942, particularly the American landing in Casablanca, Operation Torch, which is still fresh in the minds of elderly Casablancais, will be remembered as a watershed moment in the history of the Second World War.

Two months later, at the historic Anfa conference in January 1943, the leaders of the Allied powers (Roosevelt, Churchill, Giraud, and de Gaulle) gathered in Casablanca to plan their post-war strategy.

Casablanca between 1953 and 1965:

Casablanca is a city that stands up against oppression. It was the birthplace of the resistance to the French Protectorate. It was the collective effort of all Casablancais. Great resistance warriors perished. During Sultan Mohamed V’s expulsion by French authorities in 1953-1955, Casablanca the Resistance fighter erupted into flames. When the Sultan returned, the women left their cloister to greet their king.

A great patriotism was restored during the Green March (1975), a nonviolent march, an epic at King Hassan II’s request, to liberate the Sahara from Spanish control. Casablanca had the biggest delegation, with 35,000 volunteers.

The Casablancais were forced to escape to the countryside as a result of the Protectorate, Operation Torch, and the ensuing German reprisal.

The resistance, the Casablancais’ revolt against Sultan Mohamed V’s deportation, and the protest riots of 1965 and 1981 reinforced this population’s unity, establishing a strong commitment to the monarchy, the nation, and the city.

Casablanca was the epicenter of the protectorate’s opposition. The ancient medina, the Habous, Derb Sultan, Derb Al Kabir… were the armed resistance’s districts.

The “fidayeen” fought to restore the country’s political independence. “Al Fidaa,” means “Redemption.”

This nationalist drive lives on through the city’s major arteries, which bear its name. The Bd Al Fida runs through resistance fighters’ neighborhoods. The Bd of Resistance, which is led by Bd Zerktouni (the resistance leader), encircles the whole city.

What to Expect Driving From Marrakech to the Sahara Desert

The drive from Marrakech to Merzouga, which is the entry point to the Sahara Desert, takes about 9 – 11 hours, depending on how often you break. Luckily, there are lots of stops along the way which break up the long drive.

The first stop on the drive from Marrakech to the Sahara is for a view of the High Atlas mountain range.

The mountains serve as a home to some of North Africa’s Berber communities, who live there in remote villages. The High Atlas mountains stretch on for ages, and this is part of why the drive to the Sahara is so long.

Ait Ben Haddou is a fortified village and UNESCO world heritage site that’s a popular stop for tours from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert. Most Moroccans no longer live in Ait Ben Haddou itself, but in a newer village on the other side of the river.

While visiting Ait Ben Haddou, it looked oddly familiar to me. Our local guide explained why: This site has been used as a film location for films since the 1960s, including The Mummy, Gladiator, Prince of Persia, and television show Game of Thrones.

The Dadès Gorges are a series of rugged wadi (an Arabic word for canyon) that were carved out by the Dadès river. The walls of the gorge range from 200 to 500 meters high, and appear in various colors.

On your way to visit the Sahara Desert, it is necessary to drive through these gorges. Most tours will make a couple stops to take in the beautiful views, and to walk around the Dadès Gorges.

On my tour, I learned that some parts of the gorges are used to grow roses, which are then used to produce rose water. If you have the chance, buy a rose water product to bring home with you!

The Todgha Gorges are limestone river wadi, carved out by the Dadès and Todgha rivers. Driving through the Todgha Gorge was super exciting with its winding roads and huge cliffs. Most tours include a stop in the gorge so you can rest, wander around, and take some photos.

The main thing to know about a Sahara Desert tour from Marrakech is that you’ll be doing lots of driving. But the drive is worth it.

As you drive more and more south from Marrakech, past the Atlas Mountains and gorges, the landscape becomes more flat. You’ll start to see rocky terrain mixed with pockets of sand. As you enter the desert region, you might spot a Berber person, walking along with a procession of camels.

And eventually, the rocky desert turns to golden sand. When you start to see sand dunes, it means you’ve reached the Sahara!

Once you reach the Sahara, you’ll make a final stop in Merzouga. This is a town near the border with Algeria. It’s from here that you’ll depart on your desert safari into the Sahara.

Most tours arrive in the late afternoon, so that you head into the Sahara when the sun is starting to set. This way, it isn’t as hot.

I made sure to stock up on water in Merzouga. There will be plenty of roadside shops where you can buy a couple liters to bring with you. Lastly, you’ll be brought to a warehouse where you can leave your bigger luggage for the night.

On these Sahara Desert tours you spend just one night in the desert, and so it doesn’t make sense to bring all your luggage. You’ll just bring a backpack with what you need for the night.

It’s here that your Berber guides will arrive to bring you to the desert camp. On my tour, the guides were super friendly, helping us tie scarves around our heads to protect us from the sun.

The guides then bring you over to the camels! These animals were larger than I’d imagined, and full of character.

Camels appear always to be smiling, and seemingly are always chewing. One of the Berbers explained that camels regurgitate their food so that they can continue to chew it. This is called chewing the cud, and it helps them to digest.

At this point, you’ll be helped onto a camel that you’ll ride into the Sahara to your desert camp. The journey in takes about an hour.

Now, I need to make a note about camel riding and responsible animal tourism . In general, the most responsible way to choose activities that are observation only. This is something I learned after I went on this trip. If I were to do it again, I would ask to walk alongside the camels rather than ride.

After about an hour of walking over sand dunes, you’ll arrive at the Sahara desert camp. I stayed in a budget camp, and so I can only share what that camp was like. We were shown around the camp tents: the main tent where we would eat, and various smaller tents where we would sleep. It was a permanent camp, and it was clear that the camp serviced an ongoing cycle of tourists, there for one or two nights.

After you’ve settled into the camp, it’s time to enjoy the desert! You’re allowed to wander off into the dunes. I recommend taking your shoes off so you can feel the warm sand on your feet while watching the sun set over the desert.

Climbing the massive Sahara sand dunes is a work out – I see now why desert survival is notoriously difficult. I found the climb up a dune was difficult, but it was worth the fun of leaping and bounding back down them!

After the sun sets, the camp comes together to eat dinner together while chatting with the Berber guides. Following dinner, there is a desert bonfire. You can lay in the sand and take in a view of the stars that’s like no other.

The Berbers in our camp stayed awake all night to watch over the camels. Many people in my group stayed up with them, but I tucked myself into bed eventually for a short sleep. At sunrise, you’re woken up to pack up and get back on the camels for the ride back to Merzouga.

Tips For Your Sahara Desert Tour From Marrakech

Going on a Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech is an unforgettable experience, but it can sometimes be an uncomfortable trip. There is lots of driving, and at some times of the year, it can be uncomfortably hot.

Here are some tips to keep in mind for your Sahara Desert tour.

The summer months in Morocco (June – August) can be excruciatingly hot, and from what I was told during this period the trips to the Sahara tend to be shorter because the heat in the desert is unbearable. For pleasant weather, aim to go in the spring (April & May) or fall (September & October).

The winter months are a good time to visit if you don’t mind cooler weather – there will be way less tourists, which helps reduce overtourism .

Regardless of the time of year, deserts do get cold at night. Be sure to pack a sweater and long pants to wear while you’re sleeping, so you get a comfortable night of rest while sleeping in the Sahara Desert.

What not to do in Morocco ? Don’t be ignorant of local customs. Morocco is a conservative nation, specifically when it comes to gender roles. Women dress very modestly and tend to take on domestic duties. Although it can admittedly be very frustrating to adjust to these customs, it’s important to do when you’re a guest in another country.

I think it is best as a visitor to educate yourself and be respectful of local tradition. It’s a good idea to dress modestly (loose pants, shoulders and chest always covered) and carry a light scarf with you to cover your head, if needed.

Once you’ve left Marrakech, many toilets will not supply toilet paper, so if this is a comfort that you can’t bear to live without, make sure to bring your own tissue. When you are out at the Sahara camp, there will not be toilets (time to squat in the sand!).

You have the option to stay in Merzouga after the Sahara, return to Marrakech, or book a tour that brings you onward to Fes.

I opted to travel from the Sahara north, to spend 4 days in Fes . I went by private taxi, because returning back to Marrakech did not make sense for my itinerary. I regret that I didn’t book a tour that went to Fes, but at the time I didn’t actually know these existed.

The bus driver that drove my group from Marrakech to the Sahara was a man of few words, but many exaggerations. When we asked how long the drive would be he always told us, “1 hour, we will be there soon.”

I quickly learned that this answer was a prime example of Moroccan time: his time estimates were meaningless. Sometimes 1 hour meant 5, other times 1 hour meant 10 minutes.

Regardless of the long drive and all the Morrocan time answers, the trip to the Sahara was absolutely worth it. The Sahara Desert truly is special.

What an unforgettable adventure! This is right up on my list of must-do experiences. Really smart tips too. Especially about the TP 🙂

If you’re ever going to head off an do anything remotely like this again, TAKE ME WITH YOU PLEASE!

Sounds like a bucket list item to me! Interesting how you observed that certain aspects of the trip were things we tend to over-romanticize, but you still loved it on the whole.

I have always wanted to see the Sahara! It’s in my 40 before 40 list actually. Did you do anything in the Atlas Mountains? I want to hike them, but need more information first.

I didn’t do any hiking in the Atlas Mountain range, only in the Todgha Gorge and some other gorges. But in talking with other travellers I learned that Ait Bouguemez is a great region to trek in, and if you’re up to a greater challenge, you can hike Mount Toubkal (Morocco’s highest peak at 4,167 meters). Researching those regions might be a good starting point!

This would be such a fun adventure! I visited a place in California that reminded me of the sand dunes like this, it was totally unexpected to see in CALIFORNIA! This is definitely a bucket list experience that I hope to complete in my lifetime! Thanks for sharing 🙂

California has such incredible landscapes! I am in love with deserts, and so California is on the bucket list for sure.

What an adventure! And sleeping in the Sahara is so unusual. The sand dunes are lovely. And your photos have a nice element of fun to them!

I was so excited to read this since my boyfriend and I were just talking about this last weekend! We’re tentatively planning to tour Morocco including sleeping in the Sahara next September. What a great adventure you had!

What to expect during your Desert Tours in Morocco?

Look deep into morocco's history.

Morocco is a predominately Arab/Berber country sitting in the cross hairs of the ancient world – perfectly geographically situated to be involved in cross country trading and exchange. Moroccan geography is so varied; from its high snow covered peaks of the Atlas mountains to the ocean front beaches to the mind blowing vastness and solemn serenity of the Great Sahara Desert. Some of the cities are so incredible – ranging from the Spanish influenced small towns in the north to the great medina’s of the larger cities. The inner workings of the Medina’s can be an assault on your senses, in one sense seeing that life hasn’t really changed that much over the centuries, to the smells, sights and sounds that are mostly foreign to the westerner.

About Morocco

The Kingdom of Morocco is the most westerly of the North African countrie s known as the Maghreb – the “Arab West”. It has Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines , a rugged mountain interior and a history of independence not shared by its neighbours.

Kingdom of Morocco , is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa . Geographically, Morocco is characterized by a rugged mountainous interior and large portions of desert. It is one of only three countries (with Spain and France) to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines. The Arabic name al-Mamlakah al-Maghribiyah (Arabic: المملكة المغربية‎, meaning “The Western Kingdom”) and Al-Maghrib (Arabic: المغرب‎, meaning “The West”) are commonly used as alternate names.

Morocco Travel Guide

Morocco has a population of over 33.8 million and an area of 446,550 km2 (172,410 sq mi). Its political capital is Rabat, although the largest city is Casablanca ; other major cities include Marrakesh , Tangier, Tetouan, Salé, Fes, Agadir, Meknes, Oujda, Kenitra, and Nador. A historically prominent regional power, Morocco has a history of independence not shared by its neighbours. Its distinct culture is a blend of Arab, indigenous Berber, Sub-Saharan African, and European influences.

Morocco claims the non-self-governing territory of Western Sahara as its Southern Provinces. Morocco annexed the territory in 1975, leading to a guerrilla war with indigenous forces until a cease-fire in 1991. Peace processes have thus far failed to break the political deadlock.

What to Expect While You’re in the Sahara

A man holds the harness attached to the camel which is one of the best Sahara desert attractions.

Each of these Sahara desert tours from Fes has a very similar itinerary when you’re actually in the dunes. To save you time reading the same descriptions for each tour over and over, let me give you a full description here.

You’ll meet your desert camp hosts in Merzouga (the village right on the edge of the dunes) in the evening, usually a couple hours before sunset. Then, you’ll head off into the Erg Chebbi dunes (the name of the specific dunes in Morocco), riding a camel into the Sahara.

It will take about 1.5 hours to reach your camp on the other side of the Erg Chebbi dunes. There, you’ll witness the sunset either in the middle of the dunes or right at the camp.

When you arrive at camp, you’ll enjoy a delicious hot dinner – this dinner will be as good as any Moroccan meal you’ve eaten! An appetizing breakfast will be served in the morning too.

After dinner, your Berber guides will make a fire and play traditional music around the flames. Definitely don’t miss observing the stars in the middle of the dunes!

Finally, you’ll spend the night in your luxury desert tent. These are not your usual camping tents – they are well-designed, sturdy, and roomy tents, and sometimes have en-suite bathrooms, with running water, a bathroom, and electricity.

Important Things to Know Before You Book

➡️ my top tip for choosing a sahara desert tour.

My big tip for choosing a Sahara Desert tour is to dedicate a complete day to embracing the wonders of the Sahara Desert. Although an overnight stay can provide a remarkable experience on its own, if you are investing the time and effort to reach the desert, why not extend your stay and fully immerse yourself?

We loved our full day in the desert, and I’d recommend it to anyone who can make it work in their schedule.

The 4-day tour I listed above (#5 on the list) and the 3 day tour starting and ending in Fes (#2 on the list) both give you a full day to explore and play in the desert.

➡️ Booking Your Tour in Advance vs Booking in Fes

You do have the option to wait until you are actually in Fes to find a tour operator in the city (it won’t be hard, there are lots around) and haggle for the most affordable price there.

But it’s important to know that there are advantages and disadvantages to this. Obviously, you can certainly get a tour for a lower price when you’re haggling in Fes than booking online.

However, it also comes with some disadvantages. Online tour companies are much more committed to giving quality experiences to tourists since they are looking forward to receiving positive reviews.

The ones you’ll find in the city won’t care that much because they don’t rely on reviews for new travelers to book them, and your travel experience can really be affected by this.

In particular, if you are a solo female traveler, I would definitely book your Sahara desert tour from Fes online ahead of time, as there have been multiple reports of women being hassled by their guides on tours like these.

For such a bucket list experience, I think it’s worth making sure you get a great desert adventure.

A woman smiling at a dinner table in a glamping campground in the Sahara desert.

➡️ Small Group Tour vs Private Tour

This one is really down to personal preference. It’s really up to you and what’s available for the itinerary you want. For example, I could only find a private tour available for a 3-day tour (not 2 or 4 days).

I used to totally avoid any kind of group tour (after an experience in Cozueml where us and 500 other people were shuffled through the streets), I’ve come to really appreciate and enjoy a quality small group tour.

We’ve now gone on a lot of small group tours in many countries we’ve visited, and the result has been overwhelmingly positive. We’ve enjoyed connecting with fellow travelers from different corners of the world, and these interactions have often become highlights of our journeys.

Embracing the company of like-minded adventurers has brought an unexpected and delightful dimension to our travels.

What to Pack for the Sahara Desert

Headscarf:  Beyond making you look very authentic, Moroccan headscarves are very helpful to protect your head from the sun, wind, and sand. You can get one in any marketplace in Morocco for around 50 dirhams ($5) – plus it makes a great souvenir from Morocco to bring home with you.

Your desert guides will help you tie the scarf in their traditional style.

Dress, kaftan or djallaba : Kaftan and djallabas are traditional Moroccan clothing (long “dress”-like outfits that both men and women wear) and are a great thing to pick up if you want to look SUPER legit in the desert.

Matthew is wearing a kaftan in our camel pictures and he looks absolutely bomb. (Wear shorts underneath and then hike up the kaftan a little bit – it wasn’t hard for him to sit on the camel wearing that outfit).

Jacket : The Sahara can get chilly at night, even after a hot day. I’d plan to bring a light jacket if you’re visiting during the spring or summer. However, nights get downright cold during the winter, (lows in the 30’s and 40’s) so I’d bring a heavier coat and possibly other winter gear (hat, gloves).

Sunscreen : No explanation necessary, but definitely don’t forget it. Matthew always uses  this sunscreen stick , and I wear this facial  sunscreen for sensitive skin  under my makeup.

Something for motion sickness : No matter what tour you take out to the Sahara, you’re going to have to ride on the winding roads of Morocco. These roads made me suuuuuuuuper nauseous (I actually  threw up out the window  as we were going through switchbacks in the Atlas Mountains).

All that to say, I’d highly recommend something for motion sickness.

While  dramamine  is a tried and true option, I recently tried out the  Relief Band for motion sickness  and it has worked impressively well!

You wear this device like a watch on your wrist, and it sends out little pulses of electricity to stimulate your vagus nerve. You’ll feel just a little buzz in your wrist and hand (its nothing like getting shocked), and is extremely effective.

An E-Sim Card: I like having fast, high speed data when we’re traveling out of the country, and I recently found a new service that for getting inexpensive data while traveling.

Instead of purchasing a local SIM card when arriving in a country, I’m now using an e-sim card from Airalo. I’ve used a lot of different methods in the past to get data when traveling internationally, and let me tell you, buying an e-sim card is EASILY the most affordable, fast, and convenient option.

Sahara Desert Tours FAQs

A man and woman stand together romantically in a sunset on a Sahara desert

Can You Do A Day Trip to the Sahara Desert from Fes?

It takes 8-9 hours to reach Merzouga from Fes, so it’s not possible to do a day trip to the Sahara desert from Fes. You’ll for sure need 2 days minimum to do an ideal desert tour.

Don’t worry, the extra time is definitely worth it!

What is the Best Month to Visit the Sahara?

As one would expect, the Sahara Desert can become scorching hot during the summer months. From May to September, temperatures soar into the mid-90s to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit (35-40 degrees Celsius), with nighttime lows ranging from 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit (20-25 degrees Celsius).

In winter, highs generally hover in the 60s-70s Fahrenheit (15-20 degrees Celsius), while lows drop to the low 40s Fahrenheit (4 degrees Celsius). If you plan to visit during this season, it’s essential to pack warm coats, cozy pajamas, a beanie, and gloves, as the tents lack heating facilities.

Undeniably, the optimal time to explore the Sahara desert is during the spring and fall when temperatures are more moderate and the heat is less intense. Nonetheless, regardless of the time of year, you can still have an incredible experience in the Sahara desert, as long as you come prepared for the prevailing weather conditions.

Is It Worth Going to the Sahara Desert?

Without a doubt, the answer is a resounding yes! Including a visit to the Sahara desert in your Morocco itinerary is unquestionably worth the time and effort you’ll spend. This surreal and epic bucket list adventure will be one you never forget!

The Wrap Up: Sahara Desert Tours from Fes

All of these tours are incredible adventures with welcoming and knowledgeable guides, so it’s really just a matter of choosing which option works for your itinerary. Include one of these excursions out to the Sahara desert as part of your visit to Fes !

What They Say About Our Marrakech Sahara Desert Trips

Our 4-day private tour from Marrakech to Fez via the desert was an absolute blast! It’s been an unforgettable and joy-filled experience from start to finish. Our guide, Youssef, is an absolute gem – friendly, caring, and always ready with his camera to capture precious moments. He’s truly passionate about his job, and it shines through in everything he does. Plus, he went out of his way to make sure our little one feel comfortable.

Just got back from the most incredible three days celebrating New Year’s Eve in the Sahara with Desert Morocco Adventure! The camel trek was an absolute highlight! Gliding through the desert on these serene desert ships as the sun sets was pure magic! And let’s talk about the food – it was beyond delicious. From mouthwatering tagines to fluffy couscous, they treated us like royalty.

Zohir, our guide throughout the entire 10-day journey, was not only reliable and trustworthy but also incredibly personable and fun to be around. His presence made the long drives much more enjoyable, and he went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly, minimizing any hiccups along the way. It was clear that he takes great pride in his work and has a deep love for his country, which added an extra layer of enjoyment to our tour.
