The Perfect Camper Like most: Dear Steve, Thank you for being our salesperson. I am very happy that we are getting a new camper. I am also happy that we chose General RV Center as our main RV store. Without General RV Center, we would of never found "the perfect camper".
Going Above And Beyond Like most: My husband and I chose to write this letter to you to express our extreme gratitude for the special attention that we received by your staff when we recently purchased a new RV from your business. Sherry Corne was amazing. She really takes a personal interest in her sales and takes her time.
Will Never Forget You Like most: We all had a great time and everything was great - so much room!! Just wanted to thank you again for all you did to get us our Wildwood trailer! You and your staff out in Wixom were all great and we will never forget you.

Luke Haggard of Alabama

I can’t thank you guys enough for my experience in purchasing a new RV. Everyone (Coach, Billy, Curtis, Mat and Robert) was extremely nice and very diligent in helping me through the process. Doing this all on line was scary in the beginning but when I arrived at your dealership I realized I was dealing with professionals and not just a dealer. You can own a dealership or you can provide a the means to be a great dealership. MHSRV definitely provides the means and professionalism that goes with a great dealership. From your on-site ( and free I might add) Restaurant for customers to the Service area and the delivery process you guys made it all feel right and never once did I feel like I was making a mistake or have second thoughts. What an experience and process! It was simply an awesome way for me to feel good about buying new when I normally would not. When my wife and I started our RV search a few years ago it was crazy. We spend over a year looking at different coaches and went to dozens of dealerships in several states. None of the other dealers we visited holds a candle to what MHSRV has in a dealership! Keep in mind I said we looked for over a year! We ended up purchasing from an individual because no dealer made me feel good about our purchase! But that was all erased when I drove on to the MHSRV lot. The minute I arrived in my old RV I was absolutely blown away!! Just the sheer size of the place is awesome! But seeing all those RV’s hooked up like a campground that was just the best! Each one I walked in was like walking into my own. The lights were on and the AC was blowing cold and it was just remarkable! I was even given a golf cart to ride around on without a salesman to tag along! What?! That’s crazy!! Who does that?! MHSRV does, that’s who! Guys, this was simply the best way to end the search for a new RV.

Now there is one negative to this purchase. Sorry to end this on a bad note but when I got home my wife loved it and said to me; you better get me a Washer and Dryer in here. When I asked why she said “we’re going to be doing a lot of traveling.” J So now I got to find her a Washer and Dryer. But on the good side of that, during my deliver process Mat told me the hook ups were there so that’s good!

I can’t say enough about how great this experience was and how great you guys were! In the great words of John Fogerty: Put me in Coach, I’m ready to Play! ( I mean RV )

From the bottom of our hearts, Thanks Coach and all of you at MHSRV!!! God bless you all!!

Col. Fred L. Kelley USA, Ret.

Thank You! I bought from Motor Home Specialist. The best deal I have ever made. It took over 6 months before I would write this email. I had to check out other dealers. I searched the USA for the best price and the best sales staff! We have now traveled more than 12,000 miles (yes 12,000 miles) to check on other RV dealers and we are very lucky to have dealt with Motor Home Specialist in Texas. The O’Banion family is the best. Another thing that most do not know is that this family's sons’ served in the Armed Forces, not as regulars, but as Texas Heroes.

Gunnery Sergeant Michael D. Moser USMC Ret.

As a retired Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps, I appreciate professionalism and MHS excels in every aspect. From the first time we met our salesman and told him what we were looking for, he treated us with respect and showed a vast knowledge of the different RVs that may meet our needs. He applied no pressure at all and let us come to our decision at our own pace.

We went to the Fort Worth RV Show the next weekend, and we saw nothing from any dealer there that could match the coach or the price from MHS. After choosing the Thor A.C.E. 30.1, our salesman worked with us to get us the best offer for our trade-in. We chose the closing day and when we arrived all was in readiness for us. From the paperwork that Katy had prepared to the coach itself all was ready for us. A smooth walk-through was conducted by Brandon who showed a lot of patience and knowledge throughout the process. Any questions were answered promptly and we were encouraged to stay the night on their lot to ensure that everything was working to our satisfaction.

In summary, I highly recommend MHS as the place to start your RV purchase. I am certain that after experiencing their hospitality and professionalism you will complete your purchase with them too.

MHS’s honesty and integrity were exemplified when after the deal had been completed, MHS discovered an error in the valuation of our trade-in. The sales manager personally came to the site we were in and delivered to us a check for $3,000. What a breath of fresh air!

mpg 183 travel trailer

The Hansen's of Australia

We spent many hours looking on the Internet searching for the right RV for our 12 month trip around America and Canada. We came across MHS on several search sites and found a great variety of coaches to suit our needs and the prices were amazing. So we knew that by making Texas our destination we could come and look at a large variety of coaches at the one place.

It was nice to be picked up at the airport and treated like a customer straight away. We spent the day with a great sales person whose no pressure sales approach made it easy for us to make the right decision. The after sales process was great too and helped us settle in and allowed us to get to know our RV before leaving the yard.

What a great environment and experience we had purchasing our new RV.

2011 Heartland Mpg 183

Prior Lake, Minnesota

2011 MPG 183 purchased new in 2012. The MPG trailers feature high quality construction of fiberglass over an aluminum sidewall framing. The trailer has the optional Cabana room which is new in the bag and has never been used. It also has an Equalizer E-2 weight distributing hitch installed on it, for safety and ease of towing. The trailer has less than 2000 miles on it. The 183 features a u-shaped dinette that converts into a queen bed. It also has two bunk beds that lift to provide additional storage. The fit and finish of the MPG's interior is better than most RVs. All seams are caulked with a clear sealant, storage compartments have dedicated lighting, cushions are higher density foam, etc. The 183 has one small slide and has a surprising amount of storage space, both inside and out. It's galley style kitchen has a lot of counter space. The trailer has air conditioning, refrigerator with freezer, furnace, water heater, microwave, DVD-CD player, and a spot to mount a small flat screen TV (no TV is included). It has a small fiberglass enclosed bathroom with shower. It has a regular RV toilet and septic system, as opposed to a port-a-potty. The trailer has a spare tire and carrier. The cabana room is a tent enclosure that attaches to the side of the trailer. We never setup it up, but it was advertised to be able to function as an awning, as a screen porch, or a full sided tent enclosure. The E-2 hitch was considered perhaps unnecessary for this size trailer by some. But this $ 485 addition makes the trailer tow straight and easy. We have received numerous compliments on the look of our cute little trailer. If you've only experienced tent camping or camping in a pop-up trailer, you'll find camping in a this MPG trailer to be a very enjoyable experience. We've camped in 30 degrees with the MPG's propane furnace keeping the interior warm and toasty. We also camped in 100 degrees with AC cooling us off after outside activities. Setting up camp is as easy as backing the trailer in, and pulling out a chair. This trailer would make an excellent unit for a couple or especially for a young family. This easy to tow, quality built trailer, should provide its new owners with many wonderful camping experiences. More information on the 183 and the MPG brand can be found on numerous videos on You Tube.

Hello, My long term goal is to live and travel in an RV, back and forth from FL to Ohio. That's a ways off though. I'm a single mom and I have a 5 year old son and a 10 year old daughter. I have dreamed of RVing my whole life, so it's time to stop dreaming and get started, even with something smaller. I have researched many travel trailers, but this is my dilemma. I saw the MGP and loved it. I like the 183 for the bunk bed for the kids. Just going through some of the posts, I saw someone with a Honda Odyssey, and they said they were pushing the limits with the Odyssey. That's so disappointing, after seeing people online pulling it with their smaller cross-overs, I thought for sure I would be able to pull it. I'm sure we would travel light, and the kids are small, so it's really less than 2 adults in the van. Anyone have any luck with an Odyssey with a lesser load? I can't really trade in the the van, it's the kid car and paid for. Can't go for a new vehicle and a camper when I'm trying to shoot for cash purchase. Thanks! Shellie in FL

Hi Shellie, Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and hopefully to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed. I'm sure you will get some opinions from some of our other members soon. The main thing is to be safe when towing, whether large or small. Enjoy the forum and join our family. Jim M

Probably too late to make a difference....FWIW, I towed our MPG with a 2008 Chevy Uplander minivan - (3.9L V6, added airbags, trans cooler and used a WDH) for two years. Also, this is out west in the mountains and the desert....higher speed limits, etc. Up as high as 10,000 feet, interstate, some desert tracks and sometimes on logging roads. Also up and down Cajon pass, Arizona strip (I-15), The sisters on I-80 in Wyoming, etc. Not the same as going back and forth to Florida. Just saying it can be done. I had zero, repeat zero problems. Obviously, we weren't rolling at 75 mph up anything, but that's a poor idea no matter what your setup. This was with our MPG 185. I kept the load sane....just sayin' Two kids, two adults, and on one trip, add one each gramma. Again, maybe it's because I don't know any better, but seemed fine to me.

Seeming to be fine and actually being fine are often very different. You can tow all manner of RV's with about any TV with a decent engine. However, towing does not mean the same as towing safely. How good would that Honda stop in a crisis situation? Why risk injury and death when it can easily be avoided?

Scare tactics. I towed the same trailer with a similar vehicle, personally, and had zero problems or concerns. I assume that that Honda would stop approximately as well as my Chevrolet, which was pretty darn good. Internet experts are always willing to tell you what cannot be done that they have never tried. There is another thread here where another internet expert is advising against towing an MPG with a 4.0L Explorer! Perhaps we all need super duties to tow our little teardrops about....

Shellie, trailer towing specs are somewhat of a shell game with smoke and mirrors, dealerships will tell you anything to get you to buy. DO NOT believe a salesman. There are multiple factors involved to determine if you can safely tow a trailer. 1. Your vehicle's weight, loaded for travel with people, pets, stuff, fuel, hitch. 2. The towing capacity of your specific year, make, model, and options. 3. The hitch weight of the towed trailer, loaded 4. The loaded weight of the trailer 5. The maximum weight of the trailer. (GVWR) 6. The combined maximum weight of the towed trailer plus the vehicle. (GCWR) All these numbers play a part in the safe towing equation, and as you can see as a buyer, you are missing some of these because you don't know how much things "might" weigh. A great website to help you get educated is here: Www.Fifthwheelst.com They have info for conventional towing as well as 5th wheel towing. Good luck in your search! Scare tactics....HUMMM. Well then I should be able to pull a 19K Cyclone with a 150/1500 with a gas motor. Just because you can do it does not make it right or safe. Just let us know where you will be when you do it. At the CG I'm in.... a couple was pulling an Airstream that had a GVW of near 9K with a Versa. Is that safe JimmyD???? You scoff at us....but I am not willing the be injured or killed by someone who thinks anything goes when towing. Nuff said.

John, that was my point. Most anything can pull it....BUT WILL IT STOP IT. Most and I said most, trailers will out weigh the TV. If for some reason you loose the trailer brakes, they get very hot or what ever. You are SOL if you are on a down grade. Smaller TV's do not have the brake size to stop both vehicles. Very hot...smoking drum brakes are useless and now the TV is on it's own to stop the whole mess. On a 5 or 6 mile 6% + downgrade I'm sure there would be a tragic ending.

Add to the fact the sway issue. When your trailer is out of the weight guidelines, there's more chance of bad things happening (think uncontrollable fish-tailing) when a semi passes or a sudden gust of a crosswind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
