Fabulous 4,000 acre ranch in Ka’a’awa Valley with huge variety of super fun activities from beach to ocean to zip lines to horses, jeeps, buses and more. Breathtakingly beautiful mountains. One of the best places in Hawaii Nei.

Our family took the Jurassic Park tour yesterday. Our son was interested in this and we decided to go. Our tour guide, Sunshine, was wonderful. She knew so many facts about the movies and the ranch, made the tour enjoyable (even for those of us who knew little about the movies), and was an expert in making sure we took pictures. I would highly recommend visiting the ranch!

Jurassic Park Hawaii | How to Visit Kualoa Ranch in 2024

The islands of Hawaii have so much to offer and that includes visiting Jurassic Park Hawaii, officially known as Kualoa Ranch!

Scenes from Jurassic Park and Jurassic World (among others like LOST and Fifty First Dates) were filmed on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, and are an incredible opportunity for fans to see the amazing film locations up close and in person.

And even if you are not a Jurassic Park fan? The landscape is so beautiful, that I am sure you will love the adventure anyway!

Check out out the pros and cons of the various ways to visit Jurassic Park Oahu below to help you choose the best tour. No matter which option you choose, you are sure to find that your time in the valley is among your favorite activities on Oahu!

Some of the links below are affiliate links which means that we earn a small commission if you choose to purchase – at no additional cost to you. We only recommend products that we use and think you will love as much as we do.

No time to read the whole article? No problem!

Here are our top three picks:

Jurassic Adventure Tour – best tour for seeing all Jurassic Park Valleys

Movie Sites Tour – best tour for a quick overview of the movie highlights; all ages allowed

Ocean Voyage Catamaran – best tour for seeing the valley from the ocean – and maybe turtles too!

About Jurassic Park Hawaii on Oahu

Kualoa Ranch makes up 4000 acres of the northern windward side of Oahu and is made up of the Ko’olau Mountains and vibrant green valleys along the picturesque Kaneohe Bay.  It is a working cattle ranch, but is best known by tourists for its famous film locations since the 1950s. In addition to the beaches and valleys, you’ll find an ancient fish pond and gorgeous fruit and plant gardens.

The ranch is open to visitors almost every day of the year, but guided tours are required to visit the valleys and mountain ranges beyond the gift shop. Tours come in all shapes and forms to please everyone on your list from air-conditioned buses to ATVs to boat tours to ziplining.

Getting to Kualoa Ranch

Kualoa Ranch is located in Kaneohe which is about a 50 minute drive from Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. It is an easy and beautiful drive that we find quite enjoyable.  We always recommend renting a car on Oahu because there is so much to explore! Parking at Kualoa Ranch is free and easy.

Who knew Jurassic Park was so close to Honolulu?!

However, if you do not have a car, you are in luck because Kualoa Ranch offers roundtrip transportation from Honolulu for only $15 per person. You can add this on at the time of your reservation.

*Pro Tip* Upon making your reservation, you will be advised to arrive at Kualoa Ranch no later than 45 minutes before your tour time. Do not overlook this!

We arrived a few minutes after 8:00am for our 8:45am tour. By the time we headed through the gift shop and followed the dinosaur tracks to the check-in line outside, it was about 8:10am. We made it through the long line in time, but just barely! We had five minutes to spare before loading our bus, and the restroom line was too long to be able to use it in time.

CAN’t DECIDE WHICH TOUR TO CHOOSE?

We recommend the best of kualoa package deal.

This tour includes jeep ride through the rain forest, stops at movie sites, buffet lunch + farm trolley tour

How to See Jurassic Park Hawaii Movie Spots

The majority of Kualoa Ranch can only be seen by taking one of their numerous Jurassic Park Hawaii tours.

All tours are guided through the gorgeous Ka’a’awa Valley aka Jurassic Park Oahu. Kualoa Ranch offers ten different tour types ranging from mild to adventurous and lasting from one hour to 2.5 hours each.

Due to the popularity of Hawaii and it’s Jurassic Park Valley, it is imperative that you make reservations in advance. Many tours at this Jurassic Park Oahu location sell out 2-3 weeks in advance, especially in summer months.

I have heard WAY too many stories of visitors arriving to Kualoa Ranch in the morning with their favorite activity in mind, but no reservations, and finding that they are booked all day. PLEASE make a reservation!

Here are the Jurassic Park Valley tour options broken down by age requirements so that you can determine which are options for your family. There are also places to relax should some family members wish to stay behind during certain tours. A café, farm animal visiting area, and sculpture garden are all lovely for some down time for little ones.

Jurassic Park Hawaii Tours for all ages (including infants)

Movie sites tour.

Age Restrictions: None | Tour Length: 1.5 hours

The Movie Sites Tour is one of the ranch’s most popular excursions and is highly recommended for movie buffs especially. The tour will stop at several movie locations throughout the Ka’a’wa Valley, including Jurassic World, Fifty First Dates, Hawaii Five-0, LOST, and a WWII Bunker that is filled with movie props from over 60 movies that have filmed on the property.

Note that this is a different valley than the Jungle Expedition tour. If you wish to see both valleys, you may want to consider the Jungle Adventure Tour (ages 3+).

*Pro tip* Sitting on the right side will typically grant you with the best views.

Ocean Voyaging Catamaran Tour – one of our favorite Jurassic Park tours on Oahu

This Voyaging Catamaran Tour at Jurassic Park Oahu is one of our family favorites. You take a open air bus for several minutes through the property  to view the gardens and learn about medicinal properties of the plants and arrive at Secret Island (see separate tour for Secret Island below).

A brief walk through the jungle to the ocean’s edge allows you to board the catamaran. The ride is about 30-40 minutes long, taking you out around Kaneohe Bay with stunning views of the mountains from the water. You also get an up close view of Chinaman’s Hat.

After the catamaran ride, you have the opportunity to ride an outrigger canoe and learn about the ancient fish pond that has been supporting the land and its inhabitants for centuries. The canoe ride also takes you past several movie locations such as Soul Surfer and Fifty First Dates.

*Pro tip* Keep your eye out for turtles in the bay- we spotted a few!

Aloha Aina Farm Tour

This Aloha Aina Farm Tour is best for those interested in the history of Hawaii and its exported goods. On this Jurassic Park tour, you will visit the gardens and ancient fishpond via an open-air trolley. You will also see some of the movie sites filmed on the property – no tour is complete without some Hollywood experiences!

Secret Island Beach Adventure at Jurassic Park Hawaii

Age Restrictions: None | Tour Length: 2.5 hours

I first discovered this gem on my high school graduation trip (many years ago…) and upon visiting Secret Island again recently, I can see why I had such lovely memories of this place! A simple open air bus will drive you through gardens of green on a short ride to this private beach which can only be accessed on the Kualoa Ranch property.

Because only a select number of people can join the tour at one time, the beach stays peaceful and uncrowded with stunning views of Kaneohe Bay. Chinaman’s Hat is clearly visible from the beach and the palm tree lined white sand is postcard perfect.

Several activities are available during your time at Secret Island including stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, glass bottom boats, beach volleyball, table tennis, and hammocks if you just want a nap. They will provide snorkel gear and life jackets as needed.

Don’t forget to pack your beach bag with all the necessities that you won’t want to forget for your afternoon in the sun on this paradise of a beach.

*Pro Tip* Book a morning tour if you wish to snorkel here. The water is clearer in the earlier hours for fish viewing.

Jurassic Park Valley Tours for Ages 3+

All tours listed above plus:

Jungle Adventure Tour (our favorite Jurassic Park tour!)

Age Restrictions: 3+ | Tour Length: 2.5 hours

This Jurassic Adventure Tour is our top pick for tours in Jurassic Valley. This open air ride last 2.5 hours and takes you to Kualoa, Hakipu’u and Ka’a’awa Valleys giving you the best scenic views possible. Beyond the scenery, movie buffs will also loves seeing filming locations and sets from Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, and Fallen Kingdom.

Expect panoramic views on this tour – you won’t be disappointed!

Roads are bumpy on this ride, so be prepared for that. Expectant mothers or those with back issues may prefer a different tour.

Jungle Expedition Tour at Kualoa Ranch

This Jungle Expedition Tour is a great option for families looking for adventure but with littles too young for the more extreme tours. This jeep tour is known for being a bumpy ride! So hold on to your hats and think twice if back issues or motion sickness apply to anyone in your group. Some visitors report that they were given the option of a two vehicles  – one bumpy and one smoother – but don’t count on that!

This tour rewards you with gorgeous views of the real Jurassic Park Valley. You will see filming scenery from Jurassic World, Jumanji, and Lost among others. This tour goes into a completely different valley, Hakapu’u Valley, than the Hollywood Movie Sites Tour. So if you are here to see as much of the real Jurassic Park as possible, you might consider booking both tours or booking the Jurassic Adventure Tour instead which takes you to both valleys.

The guides will enjoy teaching you about the valley and the various plants growing there, often with a bit of humor thrown in. You will also have the opportunity to check out various viewpoints around the ranch, so don’t forget your camera.

At one point on the tour, you will be given the opportunity to take an optional 10 minute hike to the top. The views are stunning from the lookout, but please note, that it is a bit of a strenuous hike and requires appropriate shoes to safely climb rocks and tree roots.

*Pro tip*  Where you choose to sit is everything on this ride!

Want a wild and bumpy ride? Sit in the back! Is it raining? Sit in the front to stay dry! Want to see the best scenery? Sit on the right side! Want a close up of Indominus Rex from Jurassic World? Sit on the left side!

Jurassic Park Valley Tours for Ages 5+

Utv raptor tour.

Age Restrictions: 5+ | Tour Length: 1-2 hour options

The best part of this UTV Raptor tour is that it is family friendly and allows families to ride together in their own vehicle (fits 2 to 6 people). This is similar to the ATV tour except that on this one you can visit with one another and take photos rather than ride as individuals. This tour also allows children, which the ATV tour cannot accommodate.

You will cover a large area of Kualoa Ranch including hills, stream crossings, and gorgeous ridgelines and coastal views. You will view movie locations from Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, Jumanji and several others. Kong Skull Island is another highlight of the movie locations on this tour. One adult over 21 years old will be the driver.  You will ride single file in a line with a max speed of 14 MPH to explore the Ka’a’awa Valley. This tour allows you to tour trails deep in the Valley that are not easily accessible to others.

There are one- and two-hour tours available. The areas visited are similar on both Jurassic Valley tours, however, the two-hour tour allows more time for stopping at movie locations and viewpoints for photo taking and learning about the history of the area. One hour is never enough, but will still be wonderful if that is all the time you have.

You are provided with helmets and a safety training video. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty because it is very dusty! Sunglasses are recommended for eye protection.

*Pro tip* Purchase a bandana in the ranch gift shop to cover your face on this DUSTY ride. It will double as a practical and fun souvenir!

This Electric Bike Tour is designed for novices and allow for a relaxing day exploring the valley without riding in a vehicle.

Guests who have not ridden e bikes before, will find that they are given detailed instructions how to operate them and a chance to try them out before departing. They are quiet and peaceful, but also give assistance when pedaling to allow for a less exerting ride!

This tour is a unique way to see Kong Skull Island, the Jurassic Valley, Godzilla, Hawaii Five-0, 50 First Dates, LOST, and several others.

Be sure to check weight minimums for older children. Refunds are not provided if you book a tour for a child that does not meet the safety requirements.

Kualoa Ranch Zipline Tours

Age Restrictions: 10+ with height minimums | Tour Length: 2-3 hours

This Zip Lining Tour at Kualoa Ranch gives you an aerial view of the ranch resulting in views that are more expansive that the other tours. The tour offers seven ziplines as well as a couple of swinging bridges. You have the option to stop after the first 200 foot warm up line – but who would want to?!

We recommend booking this tour early, because the sun gets very hot up there throughout the day! Lockers are provided free of charge for all belongings except for secured Go-Pros.

You will be rewarded with Amazing views of the valley and ocean as you zipline through the property where movies such as Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, Hawaii Five-0, Kong Skull Island, LOST, and several other movies were filmed. Keep an eye out for Godzilla’s footprint! You will also learn about the plants and history of the Valley in the short, but informative, presentations.

Photo packages are available to capture your experience ziplining among the gorgeous mountains. They are currently $40/person or $15 per photo.

*Pro tip* This tour takes the same path as the ATV and UTV Tours, with the same movie sites, so keep this in mind if booking multiple tours.

Jurassic Park Valley Tours for Ages 16+

Age Restrictions: 16+ | Tour Length: 2.5 hours

This ATV tour takes the same path as the UTV Raptor Tour but is for older teens and adults who would like to ride separately rather than together.  This is a very fun, but very bumpy and dusty ride through the Valley!

The ATVs offer one- or two-hour tours. The paths through Jurassic Valley Hawaii are similar on each tour, but the one-hour tour will stop at only one location (maybe Godzilla’s footprint? It’s up to your guide!) for photos and exploring, while the two hour tour will stop at more. You may find yourself disappointed if you book the one hour tour and have to zip by all the cool places that you would like to stop and discover!

You will ride the ATVs in a single file line behind the guide at a max speed of 12MPH. This is perfect for those who are beginner riders or who are happy to just soak up the beauty of the mountains and valley around them, but might be a bit slow for thrill seekers!

*Pro-Tip* This tour takes you to the same movie locations as the Movie Sites Tour.

How to Book Tickets at Kualoa Ranch

Book your activities for early in the day as it gets much hotter and busier throughout the day as the tour buses start arriving.

Kualoa Ranch prides themselves on their low guide to guest ratio ensuring that you are well cared for during your adventures. We found the staff to all be very friendly and helpful before and after booking our activities.

If you plan to purchase several activities around Oahu, you might find that the Go Oahu card is the best bang for your buck.

Note, that the Go Oahu card does offer several Kualoa Ranch activities on the pass, however, you can only do one per day. Once you receive your card, call Kualoa Ranch directly to reserve your time slots with your Go Oahu card number. The Go Oahu card does not ensure availability for the activity if you forget to make a reservation.

Our family did choose to purchase the Go Oahu card, but as we had a rental car and did not need tours for every day of our trip, we chose the Build Your Own option , which was perfect for us and saved us 20% . This gave us the flexibility to save money on a few excursions, but also to take our rental car around the island and explore on our own for most of our vacation on Oahu.

Of all of the beauty and adventure that we have experienced on this island over multiple trips, our times at at Kualoa Ranch on Oahu are among our favorites!

Jurassic Adventure Tour Review (Kualoa Ranch) [2022]

Kualoa Ranch in Oahu is one of the most beautiful spots in Hawaii and it’s been home to blockbuster movie after blockbuster movie. They offer several different tours for enjoying the ranch but there is one specific tour that is designed specifically for Jurassic Park fans: the Jurassic Adventure Tour .

In this article, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about the Jurassic Adventure Tour.

I’ll show you what to expect and give you some pointers on how to get some photographs that line up with scenes from different Jurassic Park movies.

Table of Contents

What is the Jurassic Adventure Tour?

The Jurassic Adventure Tour is a special tour of Kualoa Ranch that takes you to several filming sites for Jurassic World, Jurassic Park, and a host of other blockbuster movies and hit TV shows like Kong and Lost.

The tour is approximately 2.5 hours long and admission for each adult is $139.95 and $69.95 for children (ages 3 to 12). These tours run pretty small so my advice would be to book these as soon as possible to ensure that you get a spot.

This is a must-do attraction for Jurassic Park fans when in Oahu, especially if you are a big fan of Jurassic World and some of the other movies filmed here.

Checking in

When you first arrive at Kualoa Ranch, you’ll be in awe of the surrounding backdrop.

Located on the east side of the island about 40 minutes from Waikiki, Honolulu, it’s just a visually stunning place all around and it becomes immediately apparent why so many movies have chosen to film here.

If you are driving in, they have ample parking so finding a parking spot should not be an issue.

For those without a vehicle, you can arrange transportation from Waikiki for about $30 depending on the type of tour you have booked.

Once you’re ready, you head up some stairs and venture through the gift shop/cafe on your way to the ticket center which is just outside the gift shop.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

It’s there where you can verify your booking and receive your tickets (although I don’t believe we actually had to show them to board).

The staff was very friendly and helpful and actually helped us consolidate our tours for the day a little bit more efficiently which was greatly appreciated.

From there, you’ll enter the Kualoa Ranch courtyard.

Each tour will have its own little waiting area. In this case you will head towards the Jurassic Adventure Tour waiting area which is a cool little building with benches and a TV.

You can go for a photo op with the dinosaur head on the wall and hopefully your tour vehicle will be arriving soon.

The Jurassic Adventure Tour experience

Kualoa Ranch asks you to arrive 45 minutes prior to your tour which in my opinion is too big of an ask.

Time is precious in Hawaii and while I understand they want people to arrive on time, there’s nothing unique about the tour that requires you to arrive more than 15 minutes early.

I love Kualoa Ranch but the 45 minute requirement feels like more of an excuse to get you to buy food in their restaurant than a way of ensuring everyone gets there on time.

To make matters worse, on our tour they had a mechanical issue (rock in the tire) that they did not decide needed to be fixed until minutes before our tour which meant that we would be starting ~25 minutes late.

I would not have cared that much about waiting but we were doing back to back tours so that put us in a time crunch with lunch.

My issue was: how can you ask customers to arrive so early and eat up precious vacation time when you’re not ensuring your vehicles are ready to go on time?

Again, I absolutely love this place but that’s something that needs to be addressed.

On the bright side, at least they don’t sacrifice customer safety for efficiency?

Anyway, the delay did give me a little bit of time to practice with Google’s augmented reality.

If you want some cool pictures and video, try out the dino augmented reality on Google.

Use the Google Chrome app to search for something like “Tyrannosaurus,” tap “View in 3D,” and then “View in your space.”

You can then portray a dinosaur in a real life setting which is perfect for a tour like this .

Tip: Be sure to check out my augmented reality video at the bottom of the article to see how you can really bring this experience to life.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

For the delay, they did give us complimentary chocolates which was a very nice gesture but you can imagine how carrying around chocolates for hours on a sunny day turned out….

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

Eventually we boarded and we chose to sit in the very back because it would allow us to be the first to explore some of the sites and get photos without people in them which just worked out better for the blog.

Most of the vehicles seat 16 but ours was the one that seated 20 which is why it was such an issue to fix it (I think they only have one 20 person vehicle).

As far as what side of the vehicle is the best, that’s hard to answer. I think both the left and the right side are good in their own ways.

(All of our photos below were taken from the right side.)

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

On the tour

Although the tour started off a little rocky, we quickly got rolling once the vehicle was ready.

We started off by climbing up the hill and checking out some interesting World War II bunkers that still exist today.

Then we made our way inside one of the bunkers that in addition to some war memorabilia, houses a bunch of memorabilia from different movies and shows that were filmed on Kualoa Ranch.

It’s a really cool experience to see some of the props and promotion materials used for these movies. It’s also insane at how many big-budget movies have been filmed in this location .

To enhance your experience, I would recommend you checking out some of the films before you visit which include:

  • 50 First Dates
  • Mighty Joe Young
  • Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates
  • Kong: Skull Island

And of course there are shows you need to watch like:

It’s also really cool because whenever you get back home you can re-watch these and it’s super easy to recognize a lot of the Kualoa Ranch scenery from your tour.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

Jurassic World tour vehicle

When you come out of the bunker, you can get a close look at one of the tour vehicles used in Jurassic World.

This was the vehicle that was heading through the field when the herd of Gallimimus was running through – an homage to the original Jurassic Park.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

At this spot, there’s also some really nice views of the ocean and if you’re lucky you might be able to spot whales off in the distance.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

Jurassic Park Gallimimus stampede

From there we stopped at one of the first major sites which is the location from Jurassic Park where the Gallimimus stampede took place and Dr. Grant and the two kids hid behind a piece of driftwood.

This is actually the only shot filmed on this island from Jurassic Park as the vast majority of them were done on the island of Kauai.

Related: Jurassic Park Gates & T-Rex Paddock Hike & Off-Road Guide

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

It’s a great photo opportunity and it’s really cool to stand in that same location.

The buzz kill is that this piece of wood is not the original since dead wood simply can’t last that long outdoors in a climate like this.

Still, the log gives you an opportunity to line up a photograph with a real scene from Jurassic Park.

It’s kind of difficult to do because if you take a photo straight on with the log the background is not the same.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

Instead, you need to focus on the background towards the right. If you stand far enough to the left of the log you might be able to incorporate some of those jagged mountain ridges seen in the background of the movie.

You can see those in the wide angle shot I took below. (Unfortunately, I did not notice this until after.)

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

Whether or not you choose to line up that shot, it’s still a lot of fun to mess around and your tour guide will help you out with getting some spectacularly cheesy photos of a dinosaur wreaking havoc.

Kualoa Ranch Jurassic Park

Jurassic World entrance gates

Towards the end of Jurassic World, the two boys are driving back to the park in one of the jeeps and a flock of Dimorphodons is flying towards visitor center.

The guides did not point this out, but I believe they used the back of the valley for this scene and then simply modified the landscape to look a little bit more interesting.

You can see the “scrapes” in the hilly ground which further make me think it was shot from around the Lost golf course area which is by the Jurassic Park log.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

Other movie sites

On the way to your next Jurassic Park location, you’ll swing by some pretty iconic spots like the golf course from Lost, foot prints from Kong?, the hill used in the four wheeler jump from Mike and Dave, and one of my favorites, the road from 50 First Dates where Adam Sandler resorts to all sorts of roadside shenanigans.

Other scenes include those from Jumanji, Mighty Joe Young, and plenty others.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom bunker

Eventually, you get to view a bunker used in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

This was the bunker at the beginning of Fallen Kingdom that they entered into to track down Blue. Eventually, a dinosaur makes its way inside and lava starts to pour from the roof as the two have to escape via a ladder.

There are actually two separate bunker sets that were used to film these scenes (one is just the roof and the tower while the other one is the entire structure).

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

Jurassic World Gyrosphere

Next you’ll take a short walk over to where the Jurassic World Gyrosphere scene was filmed.

This is where the kids boarded one of those gnarly looking clear spheres that took them all around the park to admire dinosaurs from close up.

They still have the platform set up which I believe is still used for events these days such as small weddings, parties, etc.

You’ll notice in the still from the movie below that you can’t see the ocean and that’s because they extended the length of the mountains for dramatic effect.

If you want to get a shot that lines up with the movie just head up the hill and you’ll be able to get roughly where the camera was.

Jurassic World Gyrosphere movie scene

The scene where the Indominus Rex attacks the kids in the Gyrosphere is also another site you can see but on our tour we did not go through that.

Skull Island

After that, we turned through the valley and passed through a few more movie scenes including one with skeletons from Kong: Skull Island.

Unlike some other tours we were not able to get out and play with the bones because I think they were getting some touchup work done.

Kualoa Ranch Kong: Skull Island props

At that point, we ventured out of the valley and started to head to the other section of Kualoa Ranch which is known to be the bumpy side.

While things did get a bit bumpy, I honestly thought it was going to be a lot worse, especially sitting in the back but it wasn’t bad.

(I don’t think they recommend this tour if you have a back issues or are pregnant though).

Jurassic World Helipad

We then made our way to the Jurassic World helipad. The helipad pops up several times throughout the Jurassic World movie. Unfortunately, they have dismantled the helipad structure so there’s nothing really there except for a cleared dirt area.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

We did not stop at this location unlike some previous tours but it didn’t really matter because there was so much CGI used on the scene that it would have been basically impossible to match up a scene looking out over the ocean.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

Although you don’t get an exact look based on what was in the movie, it’s a really nice view of the Fish Pond from up in this area.

Kualoa Ranch fish pond

Camouflaging I-Rex

After the helipad, you’re on your way to the signature attraction which is the I-Rex paddock. Before you get there, you’ll pass over a creek which is where one of the most interesting scenes from Jurassic World was filmed.

After the I-Rex got on the loose and crew from the park was after it, they located its tracking device in a wooded creek area.

Then, to their surprise the perfectly camouflaged I-Rex appears and ends up feasting on someone. It’s easily one of the coolest scenes in the movie in my opinion.

The thing is our guide did not point out the scene and I only knew about it from watching prior tours so you may have to be on the lookout for yourself. When you’re going to the I-Rex Paddock, it’s going to be on the right.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

I-Rex Paddock

The crown jewel of this experience is getting to visit the I-Rex Paddock.

This is where they kept the in Indominus Rex in Jurassic World and where it escaped from before it unleashed fury on a lot of other dinos and humans in the park.

Kualoa Ranch Jurassic World I-Rex Paddock

Your first get to go upstairs in the control room which is honestly one of the coolest things I think I’ve ever done related to movie sets.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

You’ll have the chance to grab several shots from the movie at this site.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

The claw marks on the walls are deeper than in the movie but it’s still pretty cool to stand in the same spot.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

It’s interesting to see some of the deterioration of the styrofoam. I’m wondering how long they plan on keeping that and what the expected lifespan of this set is.

If you’ve been putting off seeing this you may not wanna put it off that long….

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

You can also check out and even walk in some of the dinosaur crates.

Kualoa Ranch Jurassic World I-Rex Paddock cage

This one right here was from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, when Owen tries to get the blood transfusion from the T-Rex.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

And remember that augmented reality I was talking about at the beginning of the article?

This paddock is the perfect place to bust it out.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

After you’ve spent some time in the paddock, it’s time to head out and you’ll get one last look of the paddock through some overgrown grass which just adds to the appeal of this place.

Kualoa Ranch Jurassic World I-Rex Paddock cage

Aunty Pat’s Cafe

After our tour, we had a little bit of time to get something to eat before our next tour so we tried out the café. This is probably the only real problem I had with the tour.

We paid $14 for two small slices of pizza that looked like this.

oahu hawaii jurassic park tour

This is such a cool tour and experience that I didn’t like to see it watered down with tourist trap food.

If you’re gonna charge seven dollars a slice, at least give us something remotely fresh and maybe not use such an oversized pizza slice box?

Perhaps if I had been able to try the main menu the quality would have been better but we did not have time because our tour had been running so late.

Overall, I really enjoyed this experience and would have to recommend it to Jurassic Park fans, especially those who really like the newer Jurassic World. It’s just such a fun experience to see where so many big movies were filmed and the scenery is simply stunning.

The only things I didn’t care for were that 45 minute time requirement and the low quality food, which both give off tourist trap vibes.

I was thinking about this tour but those pictures look nothing like the film shots. Like, absolutely nothing like them. Even the props.

“We took the 1-hour raptor ride with our 5 year old boy and had a blast!! The scenery at Kualoa Ranch is simply out of this world and we had so much fun on the ride as it was sunny one moment and raining the other. It was so much fun with the rain hitting hard against our face, going up and down the bumps and navigating the tight turn! This is definitely a must-try and once in a lifetime experience if you are there! Don’t miss this especially if you are traveling with young ones and is not able to take the ATV ride.” – Visitor, Singapore (Trip Advisor)

I was wondering if the Jurassic tour is worth the cost versus the Movie Sites tour for my daughter who loves Jurassic Park. It is $100 more than the Movie sites tour.

I haven't done the movie sites tour but I did the Jurassic tour a few months ago. I loved it.

We did the Movie tour before. It was a pretty good 90-min tour.

Our guide brought a small rubber T-rex dinosaur, and used people's phone/cameras to take pics of the T-rex almost eating up frightened people (us). That was cool.

We didn't do the more expensive Jurassic tour, but it must be move focused on Jurassic movies related stuff.

Kualoa Ranch is a great location for ATV tours and has some of the most spectacular and most recognized landscapes in Hawaii – thanks to the many Hollywood films and TV shows that have shot scenes here. You will instantly recognize these locations, and after doing this tour and returning home, you will recognize it even more. Every time you see Kualoa Ranch scenes on TV you will say "That's where we were!!!"

These Raptors are easy to drive and seat from 2 to 6 guests. Kualoa Ranch does not place guests from different parties into the same machine. You will have one machine to yourself if there are 2 people or 6 people in your party … or any number in between. If you are 7 or more you will get two machines.
