Snoop Dogg Announces Star-Studded “Cali To Canada” 2024 Tour Dates

Snoop Dogg is taking his legendary talents out on the road once again, and this time, he’s heading north of the border. The Doggystyle creator has announced his Cali to Canada Tour , which will see him perform 11 dates across Canada. Joining him on all dates are fellow West Coast trailblazers Warren G and DJ Quik.

The tour kicks off in Halifax on June 3 and winds through cities like Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, and more before closing out in Vancouver on June 25.

“I’m bringin Cali to Canada!!! With special guests Warren G n DJ Quik. Get tickets startin tomorrow @ 10am local time with the code CALI2CANADA,” Snoop wrote on Instagram. Tickets can be purchased here.

If fans were itching for some new lyrics to learn ahead of the tour, they may be in luck. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last month, Dr. Dre confirmed there’s a new Snoop Dogg album on the way that will make landfall sometime this year.

The 59-year-old producer said the LP is titled  Missionary . He also revealed the project is produced by Dre and finds the pair  working together  in a capacity similar to that of Snoop’s debut album  Doggystyle.

“The first album I’ve done with Snoop was in 1993 and it’s the only album I’ve ever produced on Snoop,” Dre noted. “Thirty years ago. So now, believe it or not, we’re getting together again and we’re almost done with the album. The first album was called  Doggystyle , so we decided to flip it and call this one  Missionary .”

Snoop Dogg is blessing the Prairie province with tour dates and iconic openers.

Snoop Dogg is a busy man. He's been one of the hardest working figures in hip-hop history since he arrived on the scene, and he's going to maintain his packed schedule with an upcoming tour in Canada. Snoop announced the tour on his Instagram, which will bear the catchy title of the "Cali to Canada Tour." To really hammer the point home, the Doggfather is wearing a maple leaf hockey jersey on the poster. Snoop's opening acts will be fellow west coast legends DJ Quik and Warren G .

The tour will span several Canadian cities, including Toronto, Calgary, Quebec City and Montreal. This is not the first time Snoop has toured the Sunshine Province, as he went on a joint tour with Wiz Khalifa in summer 2023. What makes the "Cali to Canada Tour" different, however, is the emphasis on cities in the rural Prairie province. There will be 11 dates in total, starting with Halifax on June 3 and ending with Vancouver on June 25.

Snoop Will Tour With DJ Quik And Warren G

It's a great time to book tickets to a Snoop show. The rapper is experiencing a career renaissance between the 30th anniversary of his album Doggystyle and the anticipation for his upcoming album with Dr. Dre, Missionary . Snoop and Dre are selling Missionary as a spiritual sequel to Doggystyle , as evidenced by its personnel and suggestive album title. Snoop talked about the recording process for Missionary during an appearance on All the Smoke with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackso n. He praised Dre for challenging him as a rapper, and bringing out the "grown" side of his songwriting.

Tickets for the "Cali to Canada Tour" go on sale at 10 am on Friday, April 5th. The presale for the tickets kicks off on Thursday, April 4th, with additional pre-sale options throughout the week. Snoop also gave fans a code ("CALI2CANADA") that will expedite the ticket buying process on sites like Ticketmaster. If you don't get to see Snoop in Canada, the rapper will also be performing at the Lovers & Friends festival. The festival will be held in Las Vegas on May 4, and tickets are currently available.

Hip hop legend Snoop Dogg has added 2022 tour dates to his schedule. Following the historic Super Bowl Halftime Show, which was the first to feature hip hop artists as the main performers, Snoop gets back on the road in March.

This week, new shows were added at large scale American venues in April. Joining Snoop on the bill as opening acts will be like-minded rappers Warren G or Koe Wetzel. Previously, Snoop announced plans to tour through Europe beginning in August with Warren G, Versatile, Obie Trice, D12, and Xzibit.

Calvin Broadus was born on October 20th 1971, and started rapping when he was eleven years old. Ten years after that he took the stage name Snoop Doggy Dogg to begin recording, and in doing so, changed the face of Hip-Hop forever.

There are more than a few artists around that it’s basically impossible to say anything new about. They have been so scrutinised, so celebrated and so criticised that most of what one can say about them has already been said before. This is very much the case with Snoop Dogg, one of the cast iron legends of Hip-Hop and one of the key influences that make it what it is today, both as a cultural phenomenon, and as (arguably) the dominant force of pop music in the world.

After his rapping caught the attention of Hip-Hop godhead Dr. Dre, the legendary producer gave the up and coming Snoop the exposure of a lifetime by featuring him heavily on his 1992 album “The Chronic”. The California, US native capitalised by releasing the following years “Doggystyle” and promptly became one of the world’s most successful, famous, controversial, and downright feared musicians overnight. Since then his image has softened slightly, he’s more likely to be seen in adverts for Hot Pockets than on trial for murder (as he was in 1996), but he’s diversified to a thrilling degree as a musician.

Not content with giving the world the best G-Funk it’s ever going to get with “Who Am I (What’s My Name)?” and “Gin and Juice”, he’s also given it some of its best straight up hip hop with the Pharrell Williams assisted “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and is still unafraid to tread his own path. His most recent reinvention, with a new name (Snoop Lion) and a new reggae sound on the album “Reincarnated”, sees him still going from strength to strength 22 years into his career. With a back catalogue like his, and a bright future to match, you can’t go wrong with the Doggfather himself, Snoop Dogg.

I was pretty worried that the concert might've been uncomfortable, as I'm a teen that went with their parents. Also, my mom isn't good at keeping her calm in situations surrounded by high intensity and tons of weed (which I guarantee will be at any Snoop concert). But it was the opposite of awkward. It was really fucking fun and people of all ages and backgrounds were there. We sat in the mezzanine, and even that far away from the stage it was high energy and a great vibe. HYPE Everyone was feeling the music and yes, there was shitloads of marijuana, even in a fancy theater venue like the Paramount in Seattle. But it's not overwhelming at all, even if you don't smoke. No one's aggressive or anything of the sort or passing judgement. Everybody's there to flip out over Snoop Dogg, dance, sing their hearts out, and have a good time. Snoop was so charismatic, captivating, and comfortable onstage. He never missed a beat or messed up his lyrics and put on a great show. I lost all inhibition dancing, and I'm usually self-conscious and anxious. Tons of fun. There were about five different groups opening, which lasted around three and a half hours (Puff Puff Pass Tour Part 2). Snoop was up there for about an hour and a half. He finished with Young, Wild & Free and spoke about all the hatred in the world in its current situation and how his tour was all about empathy, peace, and love and to stay strong. It was honestly beautiful. The show closed with Bob Marley's jamming. My clothes and hair still smelled like weed the day after. Definitely a must-see.

Thought the show was very entertaining! Snoop's got a great legacy and his story is definitely worthy of a play (and a movie as well, which we know will happen). Tamar Braxton was perfect as the Angel and WOW was really impressed with La Toya London's performance! Thought physically Lil JJ was too short to play Snoop but he very much acted the part and won me over. Oh and the visuals and sound effects were great too. Every time I heard gunshots I actually turned to make sure it wasn't real. LOL!!! So my only critique was it ran a little long, thought his story could have been told in less time. Other than that great job by everyone, cast, crew, the band.

Oh and forgot how much I despise the seating arrangement at Microsoft Theater. Rows are too long so if you're seated in middle seats you have to scoot by at least 10-14 people to get to your seat, annoying! Also people actually brought infants and small children. This is not a good place to bring children. Hire a babysitter! This along with the high ticket price, convenience charge, taxes and parking fees are probably why I will consider not going here again.

Okay, who doesn't love Snoop Dogg? Maybe my grandma, but otherwise, I can't think of anyone!

So, when I had the opportunity of a lifetime to see Snoop Dogg (and others) live I was more than thrilled. I was excited as I have ever been in my entire life. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. Snoop Dogg is a legend in the rap world and he did nothing less than live up to that legacy during this show at Coachella.

He kept the audience involved in the show the entire time. There was not one dull moment, it was probably one of the best nights of my life. At one time, I swear he even looked right at me and pointed and winked at me. I almost died! I was so excited.

His music is well, Snoop Dogg's music and if you like it you love it. I enjoyed all the old school music that he played as well as some of the newer songs he has.

His performance was great. He had me smiling the entire time, I seriously couldn't believe I was seeing Snoop Dogg. Like, it was him, right there in front of me. I will never forget that night. One of the best ever!

Last night's snoop show was a blast !! We puffed puffed passed till we couldn't anymore cuz the show ended but The smooth dark chocolate rapper has done it again in Colorado showing us that his vital stamina and pure heart and soulkeeps him ahead of the pack !! Well since it was spoiled rasta Rosa's 4 th Snoopsy concert in 2016 I'll rate it #2 after the 420 concert with wiz @ Fiddlers Green in April I loved the old school feel with Bone Thigs and harmony it was like my cherry got poped again 18 years later took me right back to the Glorydays !!! Lol I love you Snoop I am your biggest Fan from Colorado. It's funny Snoop was talking about bucket lists last night and go sure smoking with the Dogg face to face blowing o's in each other's face is definitely on my bucket list ! Bring The wifey and Martha we will all get down ! Thank you Snoop for listening to yourself to be who you are you inspire the best of us !!!

Well, it was great to see him do so many hits, (and I actually really admired the athleticism of the 2 pole dancers on the stage). However, it really felt like he was phoning it in. The show was 1 long medley. I don't think he performed 1 song from beginning to end, and there was definitely a lack of energy on the stage. But, ya know what? My friend and I agreed; if anyone has earned the right to do that, it's him at this point in his career. Now, if I had paid $150 or $300 I would've been pissed and felt ripped off. But the for the $60 I paid, it was fine. We enjoyed the show, and I always enjoy going to the Concord in Chicago - it's a great venue: best acoustics anywhere, plenty of elbow room even for sold out shows, and plenty of bars with little or no waiting.

The overall show was 5.5 hours so it was good value from that perspective. Kudos to the long line-up. I've seen Snoop perform about 10 times. The good thing is that his overall stage presence was fairly long and he touched on many songs, albums and artists and he made a decent effort. The bad part is that he shortens all the songs by about half, to ensure he can cover more songs (which I think is fine), but also speeds the bpm of songs which makes them a bit disorienting to those that know the songs and lyrics. I didn't love the dancing girls personally but that is a matter of taste. Wow, since he stopped wearing Adidas, his wardrobe style ranking has sure dropped a quite a few levels! ; )

About the artists.... hahaha... i cant say anything about redman et methodman cause we couldnt hear anything... Cypress was good and Snoop is over with his commercial music now.

Show was great whole way thur cant wait till next show see you again what day I can remember is I saw you come through with a Letterman's jacket on and then you walk over to the side and you took it off in like a white tent and you came out on stage in the sweat suitthat CUZZ I was like oh my God he's going to be so hot and then I watched the whole way the whole show and I was like this dude didn't sweat at least one time LOL great show please come again.

I have been to many concerts and I would have to say by far the best concert I have ever witnessed in my life. I can’t even say who was better Bone Thugz, Warren G and Snoop where all amazing !!! I am so happy that I was able to witness this concert and the storm going down in the back round just made the concert that much better !!

It sucked. Cypress hill was dope... if they promoted that snoop dogg and wiz were collaborating and performing together I would have never gone. It was garbage snoop should just stick to himself on stage and play his style of music. Don't waste your money on going. Unless u like that new style of "hip hop" than its perfect but if not than definitely don't waste your money

Snoop Dogg Takes A Trip North of the Border for Cali to Canada Tour

The iconic west coast rapper is going on an 11-date canadian-exclusive tour this june, showing love to cities in every prairie province, as well as ontario, quebec and nova scotia..

West coast rap icon Snoop Dogg is leaving California behind this summer for a trip north of the border. Snoop will perform 11 dates across the country on his Cali to Canada Tour, presented by Live Nation Canada.

The tour kicks off in Halifax on June 3 and closes out in Vancouver on June 25. Joining Snoop on all dates are fellow G-Funk trailblazers Warren G and DJ Quik.

Over 30 years after his 1993 debut, Doggystyle , Snoop remains a major name in entertainment. The multi-platinum musician has three No. 1 hits to his name and dozens of Hot 100 hits. He released his 20th album, B.O.D.R. , in 2022, following his acquisition of Death Row Records, the label that first launched him to fame.

Snoop last performed in Canada in summer 2023, on a joint tour with Wiz Khalifa that came to Toronto and Vancouver. This time around, though, he's showing love to cities in every Prairie province, as well as Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia.

Canadians are streaming their homegrown musicians. According to a new report, of the 1,000 most-streamed artists in Canada, 113 are Canadian.

Laying a Foundation for Success , published by Music Canada — the association representing major music labels in Canada — takes a look at Canadian streaming data to determine whether Canadian artists are getting heard. Studying the 10,000 most popular artists Canada in 2022, economist Will Page finds that 889 were Canadian. Of the 10,000 most popular songs, 1013 were Canadian.

At the upper echelons of popularity, the trend holds: roughly ten percent of the thousand most-streamed artists and songs were Canadian. Canadian artists like Tate McRae and Charlotte Cardin outranked popular American stars like Selena Gomez on that list. Other Canadians amongst the 1000 most-streamed artists include country singer Josh Ross, Punjabi-Canadian artist Karan Aujla, pianist Alexandra Stréliski and singer Lauren Spencer Smith.

Of the 889 Canadian artists amongst the top ten thousand, roughly 75% perform in English, while 20% perform in French. Page notes that the third most-popular language segment is Punjabi music, which is also the fastest-growing music language in the country , and accounts for 3% of the 889 musicians.

On the global stage, Canadian artists also rank third, behind the U.S. and the U.K., in worldwide streams of the thousand most-popular songs.

“In a world where fans can listen to any artist, from any country in the world, and with nearly every recorded song at their fingertips, listeners are choosing Canadian music," says Music Canada CEO Patrick Rogers.

Andrew Cash, President of Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA), points to the Canadian funding organizations that make streaming numbers like this possible.

"In many ways, this is a real testament to the work that FACTOR and Musicaction and Starmaker have done to invest in Canadian talent at the beginning, and to work with companies and artists along the way," Cash tells Billboard Canada .

For economist Will Page, who previously worked at Spotify, this data demonstrates the strength of Canada's music industry in the streaming economy.

"The Canadian recorded music industry is by any honest reckoning a case study in streaming success," Page writes.

Recorded music revenues in Canada have doubled since 2014, when Spotify launched, and are now as high as they were before the launch of iTunes in 2004. Page notes that according to consultancy MIDIA, Canadian recorded music revenues could soon hit a billion dollars for the first time.

Though streaming revenues may be growing, many artists are critical of streaming services' royalty models. Spotify's new royalty share structure has de-monetized tracks with fewer than a thousand plays per year, leaving many smaller and emerging artists out of the royalty share pool.

In the report, Page argues that the problem is not with the royalty models but with the increase in the number of musicians and "mouths to feed."

Getting Canadian Artists Out to the World

It's a pivotal time for music streaming in Canada, and Music Canada's report has some suggestions on how this data could be used for regulating streaming services.

The government is preparing to implement Bill C-11 , the Online Streaming Act, which became law last year. As the CRTC undertakes consultations around how to best apply the new amendments to the Broadcasting Act — the first round of hearings wrapped up in December — Page's report lays out three possible policy approaches.

The first is to do nothing, and to let the services continue to operate essentially unregulated.

The second approach, which Page refers to as "Mandate, Don't Dictate," would entail moderate government interventions that benefit Canadian artists and rights-holders. Page outlines potential interventions such as requirements that Canadian artists be indexed highly on playlists, or that streaming services pay into the Canadian music industry in the same way as radio broadcasters, which are mandated to contribute to FACTOR and Musicaction, funding bodies that support Canadian artists.

The third approach considered is a more involved form of regulation that imposes clearer quotas (similar to CanCon regulations on radio) on streaming platforms.

Andrew Cash says that CIMA is most interested in the second approach, specifically ensuring that streaming services will contribute financially to the sector, similarly to radio broadcasters.

"What we're trying to do is build sustainable careers over time," he says. "The best way for Canadians to hear Canadian music is to have competitive companies that can duke it out with other companies on the global stage, supporting excellent artists that can also compete with the best of everyone else." The way to achieve this, Cash emphasizes, is through investment in Canadian talent and companies.

The report stops short of recommending a particular strategy — though, from the short amount of space it receives, it seems clear Page doesn't support the most regulated third approach — but he emphasizes that the government should consider the need to support exporting Canadian music globally.

For every one stream within Canada, he writes, Canadian artists are getting roughly ten abroad, and any government music strategy should focus on helping Canadian music thrive on the international stage. Cash says that's an industry-wide priority.

As Music Canada's Rogers puts it, "Our regulatory framework should build on streaming’s ability to connect Canadian and Indigenous artists with fans at home and abroad."

NBC Paris Olympics correspondent and valiant Walmart suer Snoop Dogg has announced a 2024 Canadian tour with Warren G , DJ Quik and DJ Green Lantern . The June run will bring him to 11 cities across seven provinces.

Kicking things off on June 3 at Halifax's Scotiabank Centre, the Cali to Canada tour will quickly veer more central for two Quebec stops in Quebec City (June 6) and Montreal (June 9), followed by three Ontario concerts in Ottawa (June 11), Toronto (June 12) and London (June 14). 

Snoop and co. then head west for one show each in Manitoba (Winnipeg on June 17) and Saskatchewan (Saskatoon on June 19), as well as a pair of Alberta performances in Edmonton (June 20) and Calgary (June 21). They'll cap things off at Vancouver's Rogers Arena on June 25.

Born in Long Beach, Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr. picked up the nickname "Snoopy" at a young age. 'Happy Birthday Willie': Keith Richards drops in on Willie Nelson's 90th birthday concert

LOS ANGELES –  Willie Nelson's  Hollywood Bowl  90th birthday celebration is in the concert history books.

"Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90," the power-packed two-night event that kicked off Saturday (Nelson's birthday) ended Sunday as a celebration worthy of the country music icon.

"This is one of those weekends that people are going to be talking about forever," musician Lyle Lovett predicted to USA TODAY before Saturday's concert. "I just said 'yes' immediately. I was honored to be asked."

The lineup of performers – from Snoop Dogg to Chris Stapleton, The Chicks to Tom Jones – just "shows the power of Willie Nelson," Lovett said. "There's nobody like him. Everyone here has Willie Nelson in common, we're all automatically friends because of him. The world needs that and the world needs Willie."

Keith Richards paid respect to Nelson

After presenter Woody Harrelson brought Nelson to the stage late Sunday night, performers such as Sheryl Crow stepped out to perform with the seated Nelson. The duo played their song "Far Away Places" before Crow exited, giving Nelson a power hug that knocked his hat off his head.

The ultimate drop-in visit was fellow outlaw rocker Keith Richards, 79, who thanked the Nelson for "being invited to this party." With Nelson's sons Lukas, and Micah on guitar, the iconic duo played "We Had It All" and “Live Forever,” with the poignant refrain, “Just like the songs I leave behind me / I’m gonna live forever, now."

The entire star-studded cast of the evening's musicians – including Dwight Yoakum, Dave Matthews, Emmylou Harris, Beck, and The Avett Brothers – came on stage for the gospel medley "Will the Circle Be Unbroken/I'll Fly Away."

But the night was not complete without presenter Ethan Hawke insisting on a performer-and-audience rendition of "Happy Birthday" to Nelson, who joined along.

His final words ending the weekend were a joke, "Same time tomorrow night," Nelson said.

Day 1 featured Chris Stapleton to The Chicks 

Nelson let his music superstars carry Saturday's concert's first three hours. Kris Kristofferson joined Rosanne Cash to sing his song "Loving Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)." Cash poignantly allowed the 86-year-old Kristofferson to sing the final words solo. As he walked off the stage with Cash, an emotional Kristofferson saluted the audience, which gave a standing ovation.

Helen Mirren introduced Jones, a fellow Brit, who marveled at Nelson's vitality. "I'm 83, I have something to look forward to," said Jones, who hits that age in June, before breaking into "Opportunity to Cry."

Bob Weir sang "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" and The Chicks performed a rowdy version of "Bloody Mary Morning." Jennifer Garner introduced Miranda Lambert, who wore a red-and-black jumpsuit with audacious red fringe to perform "Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys." 

Stapleton performed soulful versions of "Last Thing I Needed First Thing This Morning" and "Always on My Mind." 

Before singing his song "Willie Got Me Stoned," Jack Johnson alluded to a backstage party that might have been keeping Nelson off the concert stage.

"It's a party. We're having a good time back there," Johnson said.

A beaming Nelson finally strode onstage more than three hours into the concert, taking a seat to join Neil Young for "Are There Any More Real Cowboys?"

"I want to thank all the artists for helping to celebrate whatever we're celebrating," Nelson joked after the song ended.

He sang two songs with country music legend George Strait – "Sing One With Willie" and "Pancho and Lefty" – before bringing his friend Snoop Dogg to the stage.

"Hey, Snoop, come on out here and help me roll one up," Nelson said as the rapper, wielding a gold microphone, took a seat beside him to sing, "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die." Snoop suggested the song be performed "in the key of smoke." 

After playing a joyful version of his classic "On the Road Again," Nelson started serenading himself with "Happy Birthday to Me" from the stage.

The celebrant continued the humor with his final song, Mac Davis’ classic, "It's Hard to Be Humble" with the lyrics, "I can't wait to look in the mirror 'cause I get better looking each day."

Nelson still had the energy to forcefully throw his cowboy hat into the crowd during the final standing ovation.

There are few artists in popular music who have enjoyed the length, breadth and seemingly joyous career as the Long Beach, California-born Calvin Broadus, aka Snoop Dogg, who will perform at the WaMu Theater on Thursday, April 13.

Snoop will be joined by a handful of friends on his “Mount Kushmore Wellness Retreat” tour — names that speed the hearts of ’90s hip-hop fans everywhere: Method Man, Redman and Cypress Hill. While all of these prestigious performers regularly showcase skillful verse spitting and lyricism, they are also bound by the appreciation of one other thing: marijuana — one of Washington’s most well-known (and recently legalized) crops.

Woven throughout the artists’ music, including some of their most well-known songs — like Cypress Hill’s bouncy “Hits from the Bong,” Snoop’s smooth “Gin and Juice” and Method Man and Redman’s classic “How High” — is a love of weed.

Since Seattle is the first stop on the “Mount Kushmore” tour, which started as a two-day festival, no spoilers are available. The group’s sets will likely play on related themes though; the tour celebrates “music, cannabis and the wellness.” They might even dip into politics, if Snoop’s latest video is any indication.

Last month, the rapper found himself embroiled in hot water over his video for the song “Lavendar,” which tackles police violence and racism. In the video, a clown resembling Donald Trump is “shot” by Snoop with a fake gun — a “bang” flag protrudes. While some considered the video satire, others, like President Trump, called for punishment. “Jail time!” POTUS tweeted.

Nevertheless, this controversy has not hindered Snoop’s seemingly unstoppable creative momentum — in fact, it’s likely helped fuel the buzz around the current tour and his upcoming album, “Neva Left,” set to be released in May. Snoop also recently launched his latest venture, the media platform Merry Jane, which covers marijuana news and releases pot-related digital content. He’s also the star of VH1’s “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party.”

As for the other performers on the “Mount Kushmore” docket, it’s been rumored Cypress Hill will release a new record, “Elephants on Acid.” Redman and Method Man, who have earned international success as a duo and solo performers, last released an LP together in 2009, the acclaimed “Blackout! 2.”

Thursday will likely wow and inspire fans who have bumped Snoop, Cypress, Red and Meth in cars, at parties or in headphones. For many, it will be like seeing their favorite rap playlist come to life.
