1989 World Tour: Washington, DC (Night 2)
Taylor performed a second sold out night at Nationals Park in Washington, DC tonight! Due to bad weather, there were several changes in the show throughout the night. Haim’s set was cut short and Vance Joy’s set was skipped, which resulted in Taylor coming on stage an hour earlier. Taylor also skipped All You Had To Do Was Stay and This Love due to the weather. Her special guest for the night was Jason Derulo with who she performed Want To Want Me with and for the acoustic portion of the show, she sang You Belong With Me. Check out photos from the show in the gallery, stay tuned for videos and reviews from the show!

Taylor Swift announces details of 1989 world tour
Including her first live show in Scotland and a Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park headline slot, her 2015 tour starts in Louisiana in May
- We read every Taylor Swift thinkpiece so you don’t have to
As sales of her fifth album gain momentum, Taylor Swift has announced news of a huge world tour for 2015 - including her first date in Scotland.
Beginning on 20 May in Louisiana, the world tour spans across fifty dates, eight countries and throughout four continents, and follows her record breaking Red Tour, which encompassed more than 85 shows, included five sold out shows at London’s O2 and was described by the Guardian as a “slick spectacular” in its five star review.
From spring to autumn, Swift will perform in Europe and America, headlining Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2015 in London on 27 June and stopping by at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow on 23 June, dates which notably align with this year’s Glastonbury festival, which takes place from 24 - 28 June. Her ode to New York gets its closest airing in New Jersey, at the MetLife Stadium in July. Vance Joy will support her throughout her north American leg with “viral sensation” Shawn Mendes also on the bill.
The tour follows the release of Taylor’s acclaimed new album 1989, which topped iTunes’ sales charts in 95 countries on its release and was the highest selling first week release of the year in the US.
Seven-time Grammy award winner Taylor Swift has sold 30 million albums, clocking almost 80 million song downloads to date.

The best ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ parties and events in the D.C. area
Taylor swift’s fourth rerecorded album drops friday. these area bars are celebrating in ‘style.’.
In a year that has been dominated by Taylor Swift news, the past few weeks have felt particularly packed — her romance with Chiefs star Travis Kelce , the premiere of the “Eras Tour” movie and, now, the release of a rerecorded “1989.”
The 2014 album that brought us pop hits like “Blank Space” and “Bad Blood” is back Friday, and with it comes Taylor look-alike contests, Swiftie karaoke and a whole lot of glittery drinks. Here’s how to celebrate (and yeah, fine, shake it off) around D.C. this week.
Thursday, Oct. 26
“1989 (Taylor’s Version)” listening party at Barrel
It’s not the Capitol Hill whiskey bar’s first party in honor of Taylor’s rerecords — in July, Barrel was one of the first to offer a midnight listening of “Speak Now.” Then it planned the free party in its basement, but demand for tickets was so high that the party spread to both floors. This time, Barrel is charging for tickets ($13 a pop, Swifties will note) that include one Taylor-themed cocktail, a friendship bracelet and a Polaroid to take home, vis-à-vis the album’s original cover. The needle drops at midnight. Regular tickets are sold out, but Barrel will release a few “last call” tickets for $19.89 the midnight before the party. 8 p.m. $13.
“1989 (Taylor’s Version)” listening party at As You Are
The LGBTQ+ bar on Capitol Hill is calling for guests to dress like they would at a stop on the Eras Tour — meaning it might be time to dig out those pink cowboy hats, sparkly boots and fringe jackets. Karaoke starts at 7 p.m., and the night includes a raffle with prizes like a “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” vinyl record, CDs and copies of “Folklore.” Expect a friendship bracelet-making station and Taylor-themed drinks before the new album plays at midnight. Tickets are sold out, but there’s space for a limited number of walk-ins. And for those who’d rather get an early start on the celebrations, check out As You Are’s Wednesday’s pre-party , which includes bracelet and paper airplane making, discounted wine, and one last listen to the original album. 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Midnight release dance party at Birch & Barley
The “Two Paper Airplanes Flying” and “Wine-Stained Dress” are just a couple of the nine specialty cocktails, all named for “1989” lyrics, available at this Show of Hands pop-up. Head bartender Joe Doten has not only traveled for Eras Tour shows but has served as the catalyst for the cocktail bar’s themed dance parties, drink menus and “ Swiftie Sundays .” This time, the party is held at 14th Street NW restaurant Birch & Barley, and the full beverage menu (including drinks, like the “Want Who You Want,” that can be made nonalcoholic) is offered up to and during the album release dance party that kicks off at midnight. 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Free.
Friday, Oct. 27
Taylor Swift party at Red Derby
The Columbia Heights haunt is inviting you to kick off your Halloweekend not with a costume party, but with a tribute. Listen to “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” while drinking Taylor-inspired cocktail specials. Halloween can wait — “1989” only comes around, well, twice. 5 p.m. Free.
“1989 (Vitis’ Version)” tastings
What, exactly, Taylor-themed wines are, we’re not sure. Could it be those featured in music videos or selections she drank on the Eras Tour ? Vitis gives us a hint: “Bubbly never goes out of style.” The Union Market wine and spirits shop is hosting a tasting event, featuring wines it says should pair well with a deep dive into “1989 (Taylor’s Version).” The album will, of course, be playing, and a life-size cardboard version of Taylor herself will be in attendance. The ticket fee will apply to any in-store purchase. During opening hours Friday from 5 p.m. through Saturday at 9 p.m. $5.
Saturday, Oct. 28
Taylor Swift Night at Quincy Hall
A Taylor Swift look-alike and costume contest is the main attraction at this Arlington beer hall’s “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” celebration, where you can also expect Taylor-themed karaoke and cocktails. The event falls on Saturday, so take advantage of the day’s specials — which include $5 select drinks and $3 pizza slices and fries — before the party gets started. 9 p.m. Free.
Monday, Oct. 30
“1989” Halloween Swiftie Night at the Pug
Shockingly, Taylor Swift is not among the most-searched Halloween costume options this year (coming in at 22, far behind Barbie’s No. 1 spot ) — but the Pug is combining its Halloween party with a celebration of “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” anyway. The H Street NE bar, whose soundtrack is usually punk and go-go, was one of the earliest in D.C. to host Taylor-themed nights, and those parties have taken off among the city’s Swifties. So be sure to arrive early — and in costume. 7 p.m. Free.

Taylor Swift's THE 1989 WORLD TOUR stops in DC
Taylor Swift's THE 1989 WORLD TOUR stopped by Washington D.C. for two concerts at Nationals Park.
One of the biggest moments of Monday night was a surprise guest appearance by Lorde, who joined Swift on stage to perform the song "Royals."
Another memorable moment during the show was when Swift's performance was hit with a technical difficulty. The stage lift that brings her up over the crowd got stuck. However, she was eventually brought down and continued her concert without any other issues.
On Tuesday night, Jason Derulo joined Swift on the stage as the surprise performer.
Many devoted Swifties lined up outside the stadium waiting to get in while showing off their excitement with some interesting signs and wardrobe.
Many others were hoping to buy last-minute tickets for the hottest ticket in town. Although tickets were sold out, there were some available on secondhand ticket selling websites such as StubHub for around $500.
Before Swift hit the stage Monday night, our own Mike Thomas caught the attention of the music superstar with a special weather forecast on Monday morning and she had a special message for him on her Twitter account .
For those attending Tuesday night's concert, Nationals Park reminds fans that you cannot bring in any selfie sticks! See a full list of prohibited items here.
There is a threat of possible severe weather during Tuesday night's concert. Swift tweeted Tuesday evening , "Due to this sketchy weather situation in DC, I'm not sure what time I'll be going on tonight. You might want to get here early."
A Washington Nationals spokesperson tells FOX 5 that the show will go on and said in a statement, "The safety of our guests is of the utmost importance. If severe weather occurs, we are prepared to relocate fans under cover until the storm passes."
Watch Lorde Perform ‘Royals’ On Stage With Taylor Swift
T aylor Swift has been surprising fans by bringing her super-famous pals on stage during her 1989 tour. During Monday night’s concert in Washington, D.C., Tay outdid herself by bringing out Lorde, who flew across the world to be there. They performed “Royals” together:

Fans were super excited about this, obviously:

At a different point in the night, Swifties experienced another surprise when the stage completely malfunctioned, leaving Tay stuck up on a platform.
“They just told me in my ear that I might be stuck up here forever,” she told the packed stadium. “This thing is broken.” She laughed it off and handled it with aplomb:

Soon enough, the issue was resolved, and the concert continued as normal. “I’m so happy, you guys!” she told fans. “I didn’t know what I was going to do!”

Local Institutions Beg Taylor Swift to Bring Tour to DC Area
Jose andres and the library of congress were among those that asked swift to reconsider bringing "the eras tour" to the d.c. area, by allison hageman • published november 5, 2022 • updated on november 7, 2022 at 9:28 am.
Pop superstar Taylor Swift announced “The Eras Tour” will be playing across the U.S. in 2023, but is notably skipping the D.C. area.
The announcement was made Tuesday, about a week after the release of her album “Midnights.” In a social media post, Swift described the tour as a "journey through the musical eras of my career (past & present!)"
Following the tour announcement, local fans expressed disappointment and joked online that Swift not playing at FedExField was connected to the possible sale of the Washington Commanders. A Swift- inspired dance party, coming to the 9:30 Club in January, also quickly sold out during the week.
D.C. area celebrities and institutions got involved by tweeting reasons why Swift should change her mind and add the area to the tour.

The National Air & Space Museum offered to show Swift how to use a telescope.
"@taylorswift13, we're a little concerned with you staring directly at the Sun (but never in the mirror). If you do a show in DC, we'd love to show you how to safely observe with a special solar telescope. We could even bring one to the show!" @airandspace tweeted.

Swift added eight shows to the tour on Friday, but the D.C. area was not included.
