After Cruise and Elsina Khayrova made their public debut in December, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the pair have been quietly dating for “a while now.”

“They’re very happy,” the insider told Us . “And Tom’s extremely confident about it working out for the long term.”

The source shared that the pair met through mutual friends in London. “What started as a basic friendship quickly turned into something more special,” the insider added.

As for where Cruise’s eldest children, Isabella and Connor, stand with the relationship, the source told Us that they “think Elsina is great and are so happy to see that their dad has love in his life again.” (Cruise shares both children with ex-wife Nicole Kidman . He also shares a daughter with ex-wife Katie Holmes .)

Tom Cruise reportedly has a new girlfriend.

The Top Gun: Maverick star, 61, has been “growing closer” to Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova, 36, over the past couple of months and is now officially dating her, the Daily Mail reports.

“It’s well known within Elsina’s circle that she and Tom are now an item,” an insider told the outlet.

“They’ve grown very close over the past few weeks but take a lot of care not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy,” the source continued.

“Tom has been staying the night at Elsina’s apartment, which as you can imagine, is a very beautiful place. They enjoy hanging out together and despite their wealth, do a lot of the things that normal couples do.”

The pair both attended a gala dinner in support of London’s Air Ambulance Charity, where Prince William was the guest of honour.

Though Cruise and Khayrova arrived separately, friends told the outlet that it’s not a surprise, as they’ve been spending most of their time behind closed doors at her multimillion-dollar apartment in Knightsbridge, London.

However, the pair have stepped out incognito for strolls through Hyde Park, sources claimed.

The two have also reportedly dined privately at several exclusive London restaurants.

Page Six contacted Cruise’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.

They were first romantically linked after reportedly canoodling at a party in London’s ritzy Mayfair neighbourhood in December.

“They were inseparable, clearly a couple. He seemed to be besotted with her,” an eyewitness told the Daily Mail at the time.

The Jack Reacher actor has previously said “I do” three times.

He was married to Mimi Rogers from 1987 to 1990, Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001 and Katie Holmes from 2006 to 2012.

Khayrova, for her part, split from ex-husband Dmitry Tsetkov in 2022.

The Russian oligarch, 43, spoke to the tabloid in December about their bitter three-year divorce battle, which he claims cost him more than $150 million.

A Daily Mail source who attended the party informed the publication that the Mission Impossible star and Russian model arrived at 9 pm and were seen acting inseparable like a couple. The source also claimed that Cruise was deeply infatuated with her.

Hayley Atwell Shut Down Rumors That She Was Dating Tom Cruise  

Atwell shut down these dating rumors about Tom Cruise in early May, telling Country & Townhouse that she was aware of the discussions about her and her co-star. She explained that she does love him and the Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One team, but in a platonic way. She said:  

I felt like if I ever was worried about it, I could talk to him [Tom]. And I know that he would’ve said, ‘People say whatever they want to say, but you know who you are, I know who I am and I want you to feel safe in this environment.’

She continued to gush about her love for both Tom Cruise and the action movie’s director Christopher McQuarrie , saying:

What I feel is the truly extraordinary power of platonic love, which seems to be sometimes under-represented. And my love for Tom, my love for McQuarrie, my love for the process of this [Mission], and also the people who they keep very close to them and who are very present on set, has a wholesomeness to it. That for me, I just found so beautiful, so, yeah, I can freely say ‘I love this group of people.’

While Atwell read for Jack Reacher , and could have worked with Cruise sooner, M:I 7 is the first time she’s worked with the action star. She’s been open about working with Cruise, and everything that goes into filming one of these epic action movies including the delays on Mission Impossible 7 and 8 . Now, as the cast is getting ready to release Dead Reckoning, the MCU actress posted a fun photo from set of her and her co-star getting close during an action sequence. 

A New Mission: Impossible Still Shows Tom Cruise And Hayley Atwell Holding Hands

Hayley Atwell took to her Instagram to post a new still from Mission: Impossible 7 in preparation for the movie’s release on July 12. The photo shows the Captain America actress handcuffed to Tom Cruise, and they’re holding hands. Check it out for yourself:

This isn’t the first time Atwell has addressed the handcuff scene . She explained that it’s not just Tom Cruise pulling off wild stunts. The Peggy Carter actress got to learn how to drift race, she backflipped over a bridge, jumped off a moving train, and had to run “uphill in high heels while handcuffed” to the Top Gun : Maverick star. 

While the actress posted a fun still from the movie, the footage of the two cuffed together was shown at CinemaCon earlier this year. It appears the chase happens after Atwell and Cruise’s characters get into some trouble involving INTERPOL, and Ethan (Tom Cruise) cuffs himself to Grace (Hayley Atwell) in an effort to make sure she can’t get away.

Hayley Atwell Breaks Silence On Tom Cruise Dating Rumors During ‘Mission: Impossible’ Interview

Hayley Atwell revealed that Tom Cruise gave her advice on how to navigate the rumors that the 'Mission: Impossible 7' co-stars are dating.

Hayley Atwell , 41, finally addressed the rumors that she’s dating Tom Cruise , 61. After the two actors were romantically linked when they were filming  Mission: Impossible 7 in 2020, Hayley set the record straight about their relationship in a July 8 interview with The Independent . Hayley confirmed they aren’t dating and said that she looks at Tom as an “uncle”. “I would be like, ‘Ooh, there’s some weird rumors, and it feels base, it feels a little dirty, it feels grubby, it’s not what I’m about,'” she said in the interview. “Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss?”

Hayley said that the rumors about her and Tom were “upsetting” to her because “it’s involving people in my actual life, my personal life, who have to be on the receiving end of that. It becomes invasive.” The  Captain America: The First Avenger  star also revealed that she got advice from Tom on how to handle the speculation about their connection . “When I’ve talked to him about it, he’d be like, ‘You know exactly who you are. You know what you’re about. And that is the only thing that matters. It doesn’t matter what people think of you, if you are in integrity with yourself, if you know what your value system is,’ ” she said.

Ahead of their movie’s July 12 theatrical release , Hayley praised Tom and pushed back against any of the criticism about the Oscar nominee. “I truly feel you could meet him and go, ‘He’s nice; he’s charming; he’s charismatic; he knows how to make people feel good about themselves. So that’s just a tactic for total manipulation, because he’s probably just an egocentric.’ Or whatever bulls*** people want to make up about people,” Hayley said. “But over time, you’re just watching him, going: he really works hard, he really cares, he’s really interested in people and wants to engage with them, and he believes in the power of cinema as much as he did when he was five years old.” Hayley also said that Tom made her feel “safe” on the set of Mission: Impossible 7 .

When Hayley and Tom were filming their action movie in 2020, it was rumored that they were dating , but they never confirmed the relationship themselves. In June 2022, news of their split was reported and Hayley started dating actor and music producer Ned Wolfgang Kelly . She got engaged to Ned in April 2023. Hayley and Tom had a friendly reunion at the Mission: Impossible 7  premiere in Dubai on June 26. The co-stars shared a hug and Tom leaned in to give Hayley a kiss on the cheek, proving they’ve stayed friendly amidst the rumors about their relationship.

Tom Cruise is handsome, talented, charismatic, fabulously rich and, at 59, can still perform super-human stunts for the latest installment of his “Mission: Impossible” series.

So, why wouldn’t any woman, including his “Mission: Impossible 7” co-star Hayley Atwell, be absolutely thrilled to be dating him? Cruise and the British actor, 39, fanned months-long dating rumors when they attended the Wimbledon women’s singles final Saturday.

“Tom and Hayley hit it off from day one,” a source told The Sun in December, which first reported on rumors that the “Top Gun” megastar and Atwell were romantically involved.

Cruise’s three ex-wives might have things to say on the pros and cons of being drawn into his orbit. Of course, it’s unlikely that they actually will — publicly, at least — given the likelihood that non-disclosure agreements were part of their divorce settlements.

If nothing else, the next woman who becomes Cruise’s real-life love interest needs to be prepared for his level of fame and reported idiosyncrasies. Among other things Cruise is known to be “intense.” He demonstrated as much when he famously jumped on Oprah Winfrey’s couch in 2005 to proclaim his love for Katie Holmes before she became wife no. 3.

At the time, Holmes was the latest in a line of famous actresses to catch Cruise’s eye. In fact, Cruise has only been publicly attached to women in the industry, going back to Melissa Gilbert of “Little House on the Prairie” fame, who was 16 or 17 at the time they dated in the early 1980s. He had just moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in movies and was still known by his birth name, Tom Mapother.

“I did not have sex with him,” Gilbert said on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” in 2017 . “We made out, but, honestly, there was no sex. He was a good kisser. But, you know, he was, like, a struggling, starving actor. I actually bought him his first set of dishes.”

Cruise went on one date with Heather Locklear next, spent two years in a relationship with Rebecca De Mornay, his co-star in his 1983 breakthrough film “Risky Business,” and had a brief romance with, yes, Cher, Hollywood Life reported . He then married and divorced Mimi Rogers and married and divorced Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, with whom he adopted two children. Cruise also dated Oscar winner Penelope Cruz before he met and proclaimed his mad love for Holmes.

According to multiple reports, Cruise’s adherence to the Church of Scientology has long guided his romantic choices, ever since Rogers introduced him to the controversial organization while they were married in the late 1980s. Cruise is now said to be one of the most powerful people in the organization.

A detailed 2012 Vanity Fair report described how Cruise divorced Kidman in 2001 and broke up with Cruz in 2004 because they didn’t sufficiently embrace the organization’s teachings. Vanity Fair also reported that the church staged “an elaborate auditioning process” to find Cruise’s next girlfriend and potential wife. He had a brief romance with actress and fellow Scientologist Nazanin Boniadi, during which he “overwhelmed her with the intensity of his affection.”

Responding to Vanity Fair’s report in 2012, a spokesperson for Scientology denied the allegations about “auditioning” women and denied that the church or its leader, David Miscavige, exercised any involvement in the actor’s personal life.

When Cruise’s relationship with Boniadi ended, he moved on to Holmes.  “Like Princess Diana with Prince Charles, Katie Holmes had a mad schoolgirl crush on the older Tom Cruise,” when she was a teenager, Vanity Fair reported. Holmes was 26, some 16 years Cruise’s junior when they began dating.

Cruise and Holmes married in a fairytale wedding in an Italian castle in 2006, after they already had become parents to daughter Suri. But the church and its leader David Miscavige were said to be like “a third person” in the marriage, Vanity Fair said.

Holmes reportedly became concerned about the influence Scientology might have over how Suri was raised, and surprised Cruise by filing for divorce in 2012. Because of a prenuptial agreement negotiated by Holmes’ attorney father, she was able to quickly resolve her divorce from Cruise and secure custody of Suri, Vanity Fair added.

When asked about the divorce, Cruise opened up, just a little, on a German talk show , saying he was blindsided.  “I did not expect that. To be 50 and to have experiences and to think you have a grip on everything, and then it hits you — this is it, what life can do to you. Life is a tragicomedy. You need to have a sense of humor.”

Over the years, Cruise’s ex-wives have said little about their time with him. Rogers famously told Playboy in 1993 that Cruise was “seriously thinking of becoming a monk. … he thought he had to be celibate to maintain the purity of his instrument.”

Kidman has never revealed anything about their divorce, allegations in the Vanity Fair report nor a 2015 HBO documentary, “Going Clear,” that said Scientology helped orchestrate their breakup and trained her children to view her as a “suppressive person,” or enemy of the church. But Kidman has talked about some good times with Cruise, telling Vanity Fair in 2002: “He basically swept me off my feet. I fell madly, passionately in love. And as happens when you fall in love, my whole plan in terms of what I wanted for my life — I was like, ‘Forget it. This is it.’ I was consumed by it, willingly.”

At least one of Cruise’s ex-girlfriends has had other kind things to say about Cruise. Cher put Cruise in her “Top 5” lovers list, she told Andy Cohen in 2013: “l I had just the greatest lovers ever. Not a long list. It’s just a good list.”

Cher told the Daily Mail in 2018 she first met Cruise at Madonna and Sean Penn’s wedding in Malibu in 1985, met up again at an event at the White House when Reagan was still in office, then hooked up sometime later.

Cher said she and Cruise are still friends: “Though I don’t get what he does, that whole Scientology thing,” Cher said. “I can’t understand it so I just… don’t.”

Since Cruise and Holmes divorced, he had not been publicly linked with anyone until Atwell, who may be best known for playing Peggy Carter in the “Captain America” movies. The Sun first reported in December that the co-stars began dating while filming “Mission: Impossible 7.”

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, production has been arduous and protracted. The movie was supposed to start shooting in February 2020 in Italy, but production was shut down due to the pandemic.

Production began again in the autumn, then stopped when some crew members tested positive for COVID. In December, audio leaked from the Warner Bros. Studios set in the U.K. revealed some more of Cruise’s famous intensity. On the recording, Cruise was heard ranting against members of the crew for not taking COVID-19 protocols seriously enough.

“If I see you do it again, you’re (expletive) gone,” Cruise shouted in the audio, according to the Sun. “And if anyone in this crew does it, that’s it — and you too and you too. And you, don’t you ever f—king do it again.”

Production on the film was halted yet again in June, reportedly due to someone testing positive for COVID. But Cruise and Atwell may have bonded amid the pandemic challenges. A source told The Sun that “lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable.”

The "Top Gun" star, 61, and Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova, 36, attended London’s Air Ambulance Charity together Feb. 7. Prince William was the guest of honor during the gala, and Cruise has longtime ties to the royal family.

According to the Daily Mail, Cruise and Khayrova, who is 25 years younger, have made their romance official. 

"It's well known within Elsina's circle that she and Tom are now an item," a source recently told the outlet. "They've grown very close over the past few weeks but take a lot of care not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy."

"Tom has been staying the night at Elsina's apartment, which as you can imagine, is a very beautiful place. They enjoy hanging out together and, despite their wealth, do a lot of the things that normal couples do."

Prior to Khayrova, photographers snapped photos of Cruise hugging his "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning" co-star Hayley Atwell, 41, last year during a cocktail party at the hotel De Russie in Rome before the world premiere of the film.

There had been rumors Cruise was dating Atwell, a relationship that reportedly began in 2020 during filming of the latest installment in the "Mission: Impossible" franchise.

However, the actors never commented on their rumored romance, and Atwell announced she was engaged to boyfriend Ned Wolfgang Kelly in April 2023.

On the red carpet for the same film the following day, Cruise also appeared affectionate with his other co-star, Rebecca Ferguson, 40. He gave her a kiss on the cheek, and she seemed to whisper in his ear. They held onto each other for several photos.

Despite the cozy appearance, Ferguson is married to businessman Rory St. Clair Gainer, with whom she has one child.

Cruise has a history of sparking romance rumors with past co-stars.

During the press tour for 2017's "The Mummy," the actor was rumored to be dating co-star Sofia Boutella, 41. At a stop in Sydney, Cruise gave her a kiss on the cheek, and she had her arm around him at one point.

Rumors flew across the internet that the two were an item, but it amounted to nothing more than speculation.

In May, at Miami's Formula One Grand Prix race, Cruise was photographed walking with Shakira below the thousands of attendees in the stands. 

The rumor mill quickly began grinding out headlines, but the recently-divorced Shakira, 47, shut down the story shortly after the photo was taken.

In a report by Us Weekly, a source told the outlet, "Shakira had a great time hanging out with Tom at F1, but she has no interest in dating him. He was really nice, and she enjoyed his company, but she isn’t focused on dating him or anybody else at the moment. She has a lot on her plate and is focused on her kids and career for now."

With all of Cruise's rumored romances, he has also had official relationships with A-list stars over the years.

His first marriage to actress Mimi Rogers lasted from 1987 to 1990. In a Rolling Stone interview, Cruise revealed how they met.

"I met her at a dinner party about a year ago when I was developing ‘Top Gun.’ "She was dating a friend, and, uh, I thought she was extremely bright."

After his split with Rogers, Cruise married Nicole Kidman . The couple starred in three movies together — "Days of Thunder," "Far and Away" and "Eyes Wide Shut," — and were a staple on the red carpet throughout the '90s.

In a 1994 Vanity Fair interview, Cruise said of the relationship, "It was that special connection when you recognize your soulmate. She is a person who understands. It was as if a whole new life had started for me."

The couple, who share two adopted children, divorced in 2001 after 11 years of marriage.

Not long after his divorce from Kidman, Cruise began dating his "Vanilla Sky" co-star Penelope Cruz .

Cruise's spokesperson, Pat Kingsley, confirmed they were an official couple, telling reporters in 2001, "Tom Cruise invited Penelope Cruz to his 39th birthday party on July 6, and they've had a few dates since."

The actor also opened up about the relationship in Marie Claire, telling the magazine in 2003, "I surprise Penelope with different things. She’ll come home, and I’ll have her favorite kind of food made, have a bath drawn. I like doing stuff like that. She likes my food, so I cook for her. It’s always the little things I like in a relationship."

After nearly three years of dating, Cruise and Cruz split.

Cruise and his third wife, Katie Holmes, began dating in 2005. The couple later welcomed their daughter, Suri Cruise, in 2006 before marrying in Italy that same year.

In 2005, they arrived at a "War of the Worlds" fan event on a motorcycle together, making a grand entry to their relationship.

Tom Cruise breaks up with his partner after her ex-husband warned him that she "had expensive and luxurious tastes"

The actor has made the decision after the interview.

A few months ago, Tom Cruise began a relationship with Elsina Khayrova . The young Russian woman is dedicated to the world of modeling, aesthetics and image and had previously been married to a Russian tycoon, Dmitry Tsvetkov .

He had already 'warned' the actor in the past about the tastes of his ex-wife and mother of two children: "You have to be aware that Elsina likes the good things in life and has expensive tastes".

Moreover, he did not hesitate to advise him to keep "his eyes wide open and also, his wallet." Tsvetkov went so far as to claim that "in 11 years of marriage, Khayrova spent more than 10 million euros on clothes and handbags".

With the passage of time, it seems that these words have taken their toll on Cruise who ended up making the decision to end his relationship with the Russian model. The media outlet Pagesix now claims that the reason was to avoid problems with her ex-husband.

Tom Cruise does not want distractions in his work

A person of the actor's trusted team has assured the aforementioned media that the reasons for his breakup had little to do with his understanding with Khayrova and more to do with the whole context surrounding the couple after the words of her ex-husband.

" Cruise is filming and he can't be shooting a movie and have her ex-husband say things every time he's mentioned in the press," explains a source close to the man who plays Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible.

In his next statement he is even more direct and makes clear what has been the main reason for his breakup with the Russian model.

"They just didn't want to deal with the ex-husband saying something nasty every few weeks," he says.

Cruise only has eyes for acting and that's the only way he has managed to stay on top for so many years.

All three of Tom Cruise's marriages ended when wife was 33

Soon after news broke about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' plans to divorce , fans noted a weird coincidence. All of Cruise's three marriages broke up when his wife at the time was 33, and ended when she was 34.

Cruise's first wife was Mimi Rogers, who was 31 when she wed 24-year-old Cruise in May 1987 and 33 when they broke up in 1990.

Cruise then married Nicole Kidman, 23, in December of 1990, and then separated in 2001, when Kidman was 33.

Holmes, 28, and Cruise wed in 2006, seven months after daughter Suri was born. And when word came Friday that Holmes had filed for divorce, those with a sense of Cruise history noted that Holmes was also 33.

Divorces, in each case, came when the woman in question had turned 34 (or so we assume with Holmes, who will turn 34 in December).

The coincidence didn't go unnoticed on social media, where no weird fact is too small to escape notice.

"How weird is it that Tom Cruise's three failed marriages have all ended while the women were 34?" tweeted Karen D'Souza. Others tried to find a connection between the number 33 and Cruise's well-publicized Scientology faith.

And others had fun with a different numerical aspect of the Cruise-Holmes marriage. Wrote Adolf McGough, "Shoutout to Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. Your marriage lasted 28.47 Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries marriages."

Oliver Hudson  is opening up about his past indiscretions and how it shaped him into the person he's become.

During an interview with guest Robyn Lively for his and sister Kate Hudson's Sibling Revelry podcast, the 47-year-old actor touched on whether he ever had any regrets in life. After sharing that he passed up on a host of acting gigs because they would keep him away from his three children for a long period of time, Hudson shared a past experience he didn't regret.

"When I got engaged, something happened psychologically and I spiraled. I was unfaithful, and I was cheating," said Hudson in reference to cheating on his then-fiancée, Erinn Bartlett. "It was crazy. I never got caught. I told her everything because I couldn't live with myself and get married and be married and have children with this sort of weight."

He continued, "So, there's something happening to me psychologically that I sort of had to get through. I told her everything. And she's an amazing woman. And my mother [Goldie Hawn] played a big part in it as well, where it's about looking at the entirety and the totality of the relationship, not just the action. Even though it might seem extreme, let's dig in a little bit into why. And looking at the whole person rather than affliction."

Hudson said he and Bartlett -- who met in acting class in the late 1990s and tied the knot in 2006 -- got through it all thanks to therapy. But having said that, Hudson, who proposed to Barlett in 2004, says the experience perhaps was a necessary evil.

"Honestly, if that didn't happen I don't know what kind of person I would be," he said. "So, do I regret it? I mean, no. I guess not. I regret causing pain. I don't wanna cause anyone any pain."

Hudson also said the experience made him grow as a person.

"Although some choices might be bad, if you can come out the other end of them, [asking] why they were bad and how that affected you and everyone else around you, then you're only growing and you're building a toolbox," Hudson explained. "If everything was rainbow and roses, then who are you?"

Last month, the Rules of Engagement star made headlines when he talked on the podcast about the " trauma " he experienced due to his famous mom "living her life." He later clarified his comments , saying that it was "more about my child feelings in that moment rather than me and how I feel about Mom as a parent."

Suri Cruise, 17, pictured with beautiful long hair as she heads off for last vacation with mom Katie Holmes before her 18th birthday

The daughter of tom cruise lives in new york with her actress mother.

Suri Cruise looked so grown up on Wednesday when she she was captured heading on vacation with her mother, Katie Holmes  from New York. 

The mother-daughter duo were pictured getting into a car with their luggage as they headed off for the Easter weekend. Suri's beautiful long hair took centre stage of the pre-holiday snaps. The 17-year-old donned a pair of fabulously vibrant red trousers covered in white swirls, a corduroy navy blue jacket with a shearling collar and black trainers. 

Meanwhile, mom Katie oozed glamour wearing an oversized army-green jacket and beige trousers. The actress slipped on a pair of dark sunglasses, and opted for a pair of chunky black sandals for footwear.

The mother-daughter trip came just weeks before Suri turns 18 on April 18. Katie is exceptionally private about her daughter, and whether or not she will go to college has yet to be revealed. 

However, Suri has been involved in two of her mother's movies, Alone Together and Rare Objects, where she can be heard showing off her impressive singing voice.

Therefore, it is likely that the youngster may want to follow in her movie star parent's footsteps for a career in Hollywood.  Listen to Suri's incredible vocals in the video below.

Prior to their latest appearance in New York, the duo were spotted back in December for  Katie's 45th birthday celebrations.  The pair couldn't have looked more similar in the photos.

Katie looked effortlessly glamorous,  sporting a grey and black leopard print maxi dress, which she paired with classic white boots. 

Meanwhile, Suri was wrapped in a cozy grey tweed coat, oversized maroon scarf and black pointed-toe heels.

Katie shares Suri with her ex-husband Tom Cruise,  who is reportedly estranged from his daughter. Tom and Suri haven't been pictured together in public for over ten years.

He does however pay £400,000 a year in child support which will come to an end when she turns 18 in April.

The former couple had a whirlwind romance and were engaged in June 2005, two months after they started dating. They welcomed Suri one year later. The pair split in August 2012.

Katie and Suri couldn't be closer and Katie has previously opened up about becoming a mother at 27: "I was happy to become a mom in my twenties. It's been nice that our ages fit … how do I put this? Every age that my child has been and my age at that time has been a good match. We kind of grew up together," she told Elle UK.

Tom Cruise’s ice cold telling off to man who pranked him on red carpet still divides audiences

Pranking often comes with the chance that you’ll receive a reaction you’re not expecting, but if it’s a celeb telling you off, it’s even worse.

This is why Tom Cruise ’s stern words to a prankster on the red carpet continues to divide viewers almost two decades on.

It was all the way back in 2005 when the star was talking to media at the London premiere for Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds .

A Channel 4 prankster posing as a reporter decided it was his shot to get Cruise a little wet in the face as part of a gag.

So, when the time came for the actor to walk up and provide an interview, he was shot in the face with a stream of water from the microphone.

Evidently shocked and more than a little annoyed, he asked the man ‘why would you do that’, and quickly batted away the trick item before pulling the prankster forward.

The Top Gun star was understandably not happy to have fallen victim to the prank in front of so many people and let loose on the guy.

Cruise asked: “What’s so funny about that?”

“It’s ridiculous,” he added.

As the joker seemed to apologise and try to defend himself, the actor still didn’t seem to see the funny side of the prank.

He said: “You like doing mean things to people?”

The Mission Impossible frontman had his face wiped with a towel and didn’t let the prankster try to walk away.

He said: “Hey, hey, no, no, don’t run away.

“Don’t run away, it’s incredibly rude. I’m here giving you an interview and answering your questions and you do something really nasty.

“You’re a jerk. You’re a jerk. You know what, you’re a jerk.”

At the time of the incident, Cruise’s response left divided people as many thought he was in the right, while others believed he was well out of order.

Some X, formerly Twitter, users said he said ‘nothing wrong’ in his response to the prank, is ‘absolutely right’ and that: “Childish behaviour calls for being spoken to like a child.”

One also wrote: “I don’t even like Tom Cruise but he’s spot on here.”

The awkward interview moment still lives on almost two decades later.

However, one put: “The moment it happened, I felt scared. Tom Cruise seems very nice a lot of the time, but you just would not f**k with him.”

Another wrote: “He’s honestly terrifying.”

And someone else said: “He’s not wrong at all but I mean it’s a bit of water, it’s not that deep.”

Channel 4 ended up releasing an apology to Cruise after the incident as according to the broadcaster, it was just meant to be ‘light-hearted’ for some comedy.

"The stunt was intended to be light-hearted rather than malicious and we would apologise to Mr Cruise for any offence that was caused," Channel 4 said in a statement.

"The incident that took place on Sunday evening involving Tom Cruise was for a new Channel 4 entertainment show, part of which involves playing light-hearted comedy pranks on celebrities and members of the public."

Well, let’s hope that there’s no more red-carpet funny business with Cruise from now on, especially with all the hype from Top Gun: Maverick dropping on Netflix on Friday (22 March).

Tom Cruise has reportedly found love in a pandemic with Hayley Atwell.

A production source told the Sun that Cruise, 58, and Atwell, 38, started dating after meeting on the set of “Mission: Impossible 7,” saying the pair “hit it off from day one.”

“Lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable,” the source added.

It’s unknown if the “Captain America” actress is a Scientologist like Cruise. Atwell previously dated model Evan Jones, but they parted ways in 2015 after two years together.

Reps for Cruise and Atwell didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

Cruise has three children, 27-year-old Isabella and 25-year-old Connor from his marriage to Nicole Kidman, and 14-year-old Suri, whom he shares with ex-wife Katie Holmes.

The relationship revelation comes as Cruise departed the set of his upcoming action flick for the holidays early after audio of him lambasting crew members for not following COVID-19 protocols went viral.

“If I see you do it again, you’re f—ing gone,” Cruise yelled. “And if anyone in this crew does it, that’s it — and you too and you too. And you, don’t you ever f—ing do it again.”
