Trip (Japanese: シューティー Shooti) is a male character from the series, Pokémon: Black & White. He has a non-friendly rivalry with Ash, meaning they hate each other both on and off the battlefield. While traveling to take on the Unova League, Trip enjoys taking photographs of Pokémon that he sees and he is known to be a Pokémon Photographer. Trip has been shown to care for his Pokémon, despite not being the most caring Trainer, but is quite obnoxious, much like Gary Oak . The main reason he has taken a dislike to Ash is because of his training style and the fact that he is from Kanto. He seems to dislike Ash more than Gary does but less than Paul does, as he often teases Ash about losing. However, before running into Alder, they are shown to have at least some respect for each other. Trip is bound to learn that becoming the champion does not depend on just becoming strong. His goals are to become the champion and to crush Ash's dream of becoming a Pokemon Master.
Trip does not like the Kanto region- or anyone from there. He thinks of anyone from Kanto as one who knows nothing about Pokemon. He considers Ash to be a hillbilly who should go back to the basics of Pokemon. He is prejudice against Ash because of this.

Biography [ ]
Trip made his first appearance in " In The Shadow of Zekrom! " where he was a beginning trainer shown choosing his first Pokémon. Ash was friendly to him at first. He eventually chooses Snivy and wants to battle Ash's Pikachu because of it not being able to be found in his region. Although because of Zekrom, Pikachu's power is weakened and is unable to use Electric type of moves causing it to be defeated. Trip tells Ash to "go back to the basics" as a dis, and leaves to Accumula Town.
Trip later reappears in " A Rival Battle for Club Champ! " where he was at the local Battle club and Ash challenges him to a 5-on-5 battle.Trip comes out victorious where his Tranquill easily defeats Oshawott and Tepig, Servine defeats Pikachu, and his Frillish beats Pidove and Snivy. It was revealed that he used Servine to defeat Chili's Pansear at the Striaton Gym for his Trio Badge. He then later states that Pikachu and Snivy are improving well, but the rest of his team members are "a joke".
Trip shows up again in " A Venipede Stampede! ," where he is using his new Lampent in an attempt to destroy a swarm of Venipede, teaming up with other Fire-Type trainers. After destroying too many of them, Ash tries to stop Trip. Trip pretends to agree, but tells Lampent to kill the leader of the Venipede with Shadow Ball. Ash jumps in the way and gets injured, then says they should move them out of the way. Trip first refuses. He finally agrees, and they clear out the Venipede with their Tranquills. Trip later leaves, jokingly saying he'll battle Ash again once he's worthy.
He reappears in " Ash and Trip's Third Battle! " where he attempts to catch what would become Ash's Palpitoad, but Ash falls of a cliff, gets hit by Trip's PokeBall and scares Palpitoad away. Trip is furious, but they decide to just battle before things got out of hand, and Trip challenges him to a 3-on-3 battle using his Servine, Vanillite, and Timburr. Despite their tough battling styles, it resulted in a tie between the two adversaries. Trip walks away and Ash says bye to him, of course with no response.
He returns in " Reunion Battles In Nimbasa! " where he competes in the Club Battle tournament in Nimbasa Town where he was up against Cilan in the first round.
His battle begins with Cilan in " Cilan Versus Trip, Ash Versus Georgia! " where his newly evolved Gurdurr is defeated by Cilan's Dwebble. He takes a picture of Cilan, saying it was to remember his anger frustration, proving he takes losses harder and dwells on them, as well as this possibly being his first loss ever. After healing his Gurdurr, he leaves and moves on to the next city.
Trip reappeared in " Ash Versus The Champion " where he watched the battle between his rival Ash and his role model Alder , the Champion of the Unova League. He left when Alder refused to battle him by saying "Maybe next time."
Trip reappeared in "The Clubsplosion Begins!" where he bumped into Ash and co. when entering the Donamite with his Conkeldurr. His first round opponent was revealed to be Bianca, whom he didn't consider a threat.
He began his battle against Bianca and her Emboar in " Search for the Clubultimate! " but lost in the next episode despite putting up a strong fight.
Pokémon [ ]
Besides his Servine, Trip has gained these Pokemon through unknown events and are a close resemblance to Ash's; has obtained the same Flying -type Pokemon, two different Water- and Fire-types, an Ice-type, and a different Figting-type, but is still unknown if he has caught other Pokémon than his current team.

Pokemon Sleep Suite At Tokyo's Grand Hyatt Hotel Opening This Summer
- Pokemon Sleep fans will be able to spend the night in a room themed after the game this summer.
- Tokyo's Grand Hyatt Hotel has a Pokemon Sleep suite, opening on July 1 and available to book until September 1.
- Guests in the suite can take the plushes home with them and will have Pokemon-themed food brought to their room.
We're closing in on a year since the release of Pokemon Sleep . A game/lifestyle app The Pokemon Company had been radio silent on for so long after its announcement that some of us were convinced it had all been a dream. Pokemon Sleep users have their phones unlocked next to them while they slumber and various Pokemon will be waiting to meet them in the morning depending on their sleep style. There will naturally be some sort of anniversary event announced for Sleep's first birthday, but if you really want to celebrate a year of the game in style, you can do so in an official Pokemon Sleep suite.
Tokyo's Grand Hyatt hotel revealed today that it has transformed its chairman suite into Pokemon Sleep's Greengrass Isle. The suite has a green carpet down to replicate the grass, shrubs and flowers dotted around to mimic the foliage, and even a tiny tent to sleep in, although there appears to be a bed too. There's also a giant Snorlax plush in the room with four smaller Pokemon plushes gathered around it which you can take with you at the end of your stay.
Pokemon's Teddiursa Squishmallow Is Only $19 On Amazon For A Very Limited Time
There will be other Pokemon Sleep-themed amenities in the room that guests can take with them at the end of their stay. A t-shirt, backpack, wellness bag, and water bottle - all Pokemon Sleep-branded and all free. Well, not free. You'll have to pay to stay in the room, and it's going to cost you a lot to do so. The suite will be available from July 1 through September 1, 2024, and it will cost 275,050 yen ($1,777) per night.
Spend The Night In Greengrass Isle
That's a lot of money, but there is even more than we've already covered included in the price. You will also get a Pokemon-themed dinner and breakfast for two delivered to your room. Among the special food you'll get to try is a Snorlax burger and actual items you can make for your Pokemon in Pokemon Sleep. If you stay in the Hyatt Pokemon Suite, you will be some of the only people in the world who actually know what Pokemon Sleep's Lucky Chant Apple Pie and Craft Soda Pop taste like.
The Pokemon Sleep-themed food seems to be available to all hotel guests during the period above should they want to try it, and there's also a lesser Pokemon Sleep experience available for considerably less - 71,500 yen, so $462 per night. The cheaper room comes with fewer Pokemon Sleep accessories, but it does include the same amenities to take with you. You can't take the sleeping Pikachu plush you'll find waiting for you though, the description on the site makes that very clear.

Pokémon Go ‘Rediscover Kanto’ Special Research quest steps, rewards
Return to Gen 1 in celebration of biomes and a visual refresh

“Rediscover Kanto” is a Special Research quest in Pokémon Go which sees players revisit the first generation of Pokémon.
As well as the Special Research, there is a time limited event of the same name running April 22 to May 9, 2024 . This offers spawns of Pokémon from the Kanto region in the wild, bonus XP for completing certain activities, and boosted Friendship level increases.
The event celebrates an April 2024 visual and biome refresh in Pokémon Go , and as part of that, discovering starters Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle in their respective biomes increases their chances of being shiny.
Finally, as Pokémon Go wasn’t busy enough, the opening week of “Rediscover Kanto” coincides with 2024’s “ Sustainability Week ” event.
‘Rediscover Kanto’ Special Research quest steps and rewards
All players who log in April 22 to May 9, 2024 will receive the following Special Research for free.
Once acquired, “Rediscover Kanto” Special Research does not expire — meaning there is no need to rush through all the following quest steps.
Step 1 of 5
- Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokémon (Bulbasaur encounter)
- Feed your Buddy 5 times (Charmander encounter)
- Catch 20 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region (Squirtle encounter)
Rewards: 5,000 XP, 2,500 Stardust , 1 Lucky Egg
Step 2 of 5
- Use 10 Berries to help catch Pokémon (10 Poké Balls)
- Play with your Buddy 5 times (15 Great Balls)
- Catch 30 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region (10 Ultra Balls)
Rewards: 5,000 XP, 2,500 Stardust , 3 Fast TM
Step 3 of 5
- Use 15 Berries to help catch Pokémon (10 Razz Berry)
- Earn 25 hearts with your Buddy (10 Nanab Berry)
- Catch 40 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region (10 Pinap Berry)
Rewards: 5,000 XP, 2,500 Stardust , 3 Charged TM
Step 4 of 5
- Use 20 Berries to help catch Pokémon (25 Bulbasaur Candy)
- Earn 4 Candy exploring with your Buddy (25 Charmander Candy)
- Catch 50 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region (25 Squirtle Candy)
Rewards: 5,000 XP, 2,500 Stardust , 1 Lure
Step 5 of 5
- Use 151 Berries to catch Pokémon (15,100 XP)
- Earn 15,100 Stardust (15,100 XP)
- Catch 151 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region (15,100 XP)
Rewards: 10,000 Stardust , 1 Incubator
Though it’s worth noting the steps involving catching Pokémon originally found in the Kanto region will be easier while the “Rediscover Kanto” event is still active (as, unlike the Special Research, that does have an end date), Kanto Pokémon are common enough in Pokémon Go that completing these won’t be an issue long term.
‘Rediscover Kanto’ event bonuses
Alongside the Special Research steps, the “Rediscover Kanto” event offers a handful of bonuses active April 22 to May 9, 2024:
- Increased XP for seven day PokéStop spin and Pokémon catch streaks
- Double Friendship level boost (when opening Gifts, trading, or battling together)
- Increased chance of shiny Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle when spawning in their respective biomes
- Ivysaur, Charmeleon, and Wartortle will gain Charged attacks Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon respectively when evolved
‘Rediscover Kanto’ Field Research tasks, rewards
Spinning a PokéStop during the event period can offer one of the following Field Research tasks:
- Power Up Pokémon 5 Times (25 Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise Mega Energy)
- Pokémon Go guides
- “Rediscover Kanto” Special Research
- How to find Wiglett
- Ditto disguises
The next level of puzzles.
Take a break from your day by playing a puzzle or two! We’ve got SpellTower, Typeshift, crosswords, and more.

- Key Street: Michigan Ave. Leads to 7 Key Hotels in Chicago
A brief guide to all the MICHELIN Key hotels in Chicago.
Travel Hotels Chicago MICHELIN Keys
On April 24, 2024, the MICHELIN Guide announced its very first Key hotels in the United States — a brand new distinction recognizing the most outstanding hotels in the country. We're thrilled to report that in Chicago, eight hotels earned at least One Key. Of those, half make their home in the kinds of historic buildings that give this city its well-earned reputation as one of the most architecturally distinguished cities in the country. Follow Michigan Avenue north from the heart of the Loop to the Gold Coast and you’ll pass within two blocks of all but one of them. The Chicago Athletic Association sits within a Venetian Gothic landmark. The Gwen makes its home in a storied 1929 Art Deco skyscraper. The Pendry sets up shop in the masterpiece that is the 1929 Art Deco Carbide & Carbon Building. And the lower floors of the Viceroy make use of the meticulously-preserved, 1920s-vintage Cedar Hotel. There are Key hotels too in newer builds, among them the Peninsula (with uniformed bellboys and staffers who seem to know the name of each individual guest) and the Waldorf Astoria , its lobby a marble marvel. Below, explore the map and scroll down for more about each of the MICHELIN Guide’s eight hotels in Chicago.
The Eight KEY Hotels in Chicago:
Chicago Athletic Association — One Key
Pendry Chicago — Two Keys
The Langham Chicago — Two Keys
The Gwen — One Key
The Peninsula Chicago — Two Keys
Waldorf Astoria Chicago — One Key
Viceroy Chicago — One Key
