The coolest month is December with an average low of 23°C (73°F) and high of 31°C (88°F), which is still warm. The driest month is February, with almost no rainfall.

The hottest month is April, with an average high of 34°C (93°F) and low of 24°C (75°F). The highest rainfall comes in October.

Best Times to Visit Krabi

The best time to visit Krabi weather-wise is from December to February. The weather is not-so-hot in the evenings, but can still be very warm in the afternoon, and it's mostly dry and sunny, which is very suitable for all kinds of activities.

If you prefer water sports, like snorkeling and diving, March and April are still suitable for a visit. The wind and waves are usually calm and the water temperature is warm.

If you want to find discounts, you could consider traveling in the rainy season, between August and October.

The Worst Times to Visit Krabi

May in Krabi can be muggy. If you cannot stand mugginess, May should be avoided. The muggy feeling is strongest in May, because the moderate rain increases humidity but does not bring the temperature down much (compared to the heavier rain later in the year).

August, September, and October are also times to avoid if you don't like rain, especially October.

But some travelers also choose visit during those times, because there are fewer tourists and great discounts.

However, these "worst" times actually won't ruin your travel plans if they're mindfully and flexibly made. The effects of the rain/heat can be ameliorated by organizing your schedule wisely.

The Best Time To Visit Krabi, Thailand: A Seasonal Guide

Krabi is one of Thailand’s most beautiful regions and is a must-visit destination should you find yourself in the country. From beaches to cliff-top temples, Krabi has something for every traveler, whether they prefer natural beauty or cultural gems. The province is well-known for having a huge mix of beach activities and sightseeing opportunities while Krabi Town comes to life at night with one of the world’s most famous night-time markets. Krabi’s location makes it the perfect starting point for island hopping to the famous Phi Phi Islands and others or even spending a day or two in Phuket .

An opportunity to visit Krabi should not be missed, no matter the time of year. But, there are seasons and months of the year that make for a more enjoyable and unforgettable trip. Each season has its pros and cons, like most places, and choosing which season would be best for you to visit will depend on what activities you plan to carry out in Krabi.

Dry Season (December-March)

Krabi, Thailand

Temperature

If you didn’t know already, Thailand is among many Southeast Asian countries that experience just two seasons – dry and wet. Visiting Krabi in the dry season will guarantee you cooler temperatures and a lot less rainfall. The season is preferable for those travelers who can’t quite stand the heat or want to do lots of sports while away, to prevent heat exhaustion.

Temperatures in the dry season in Krabi average around 23°C in January, rising considerably towards the end of the dry season. The season runs from December to March with temperatures being coolest in January and rainfall being at its minimum in March.

If you are set in wanting to avoid the hottest time of the year then definitely opt to visit towards the start of the year. You’ll get the best of both worlds, little rain but still pretty warm temperatures.

One disadvantage is that you’ll likely find Krabi to be very crowded during this period. While it may seem odd, Thailand is most popular in most other region’s winter months (due to having a reverse weather system). Solo travelers or couples without kids will likely be the most common type of visitor to the area, whereas the wet season will have more families due to school holidays. This popularity is why solo travelers should consider this time of year for Krabi- to meet other like-minded people. There are endless  reasons to travel to Thailand solo .

What To Wear

Light layers of clothing are recommended in the dry season to visit Krabi. While not overly warm, you can still break a sweat lying on the beach or walking far distances so it is better to dress light with an additional layer with you in case you need it.

Avoid any clothing that may make you too hot or itchy and try to cover your limbs if you’re taking part in activities near bodies of water or in jungle areas to prevent bug bites.

The dry season is the perfect time to visit Krabi as all activities are on the table, which is why so many  backpackers love coming to Thailand  at this time of year. There is nothing that you can’t do in the dry season in Krabi and there are plenty of attractions to visit and things to do which will suit every kind of traveler.

You could opt to swim at some of Krabi’s most infamous beaches or partake in rock climbing. Another popular activity would be to take a dip at some of the region’s hot springs, the perfect location for relaxation.

This Is The Best Time To Visit For

Those looking to meet new people. The dry season draws in the highest number of travelers, from all over the world and so is the perfect time to visit if you’re looking to socialize.

Hostels are typically packed during the dry season with budget travelers all in search of new experiences. If you’d prefer a private stay and still want to meet people then you definitely can!

Guided tours are one of the best places to meet people. They’ll speak the same language as you and you know you’ll have something in common – a love for travel and sports. You could also meet people at the infamous Krabi night market.

The Krabi Town night market is always bustling with life in the evenings – particularly in the dry season, with stalls selling everything you could think of. The market is extremely popular with travelers and so is the perfect place to meet a new friend.

Wet Season (May-October)

Krabi, Thailand

Temperatures for the wet season can vary greatly. May typically has an average temperature of around 30°C and there is a fluctuating decrease, reaching around 26°C daily in October. If you couldn’t already tell, Thailand never really gets  cold . That’s why most  Thailand group tours  run all year round! The country has a very consistently warm climate, it is the rain or lack thereof that should inform decisions about when to visit.

The wet season is, as the name would suggest, wet. The rainfall totals can be very, very high with heavy showers regularly. The showers tend to be short but frequent and they can have you soaked to your skin in just a few short minutes.

Because of the amount and high probability of rain, the wet season does tend to be a lot quieter in Krabi. So if you don’t mind the rain then at least you’ll be avoiding the crowds.

It can be hard to decide what to pack to wear in Krabi during the wet season. While you may be most concerned about the rain, it is still very hot and you’ll be unlikely to stick wearing a coat.

One of the most popular ideas is to take a reusable poncho with you when visiting in the wet season. That way, you can be dry but not uncomfortably hot.

Appropriate and breathable footwear is important when visiting at this time of year. While it is hot, sandals might not be the best idea as no one wants to walk barefoot through puddles. Bring some light, breathable footwear that will dry easily after showers.

In terms of clothes, you’ll need to pack similarly to the dry season. Light and airy fabrics are best, nothing too thick which could take a long time to dry. Flowy trousers and T-shirts are great options to allow you sun protection and good airflow to cool you.

The wet season is a better time of year to explore the jungle and national parks in the Krabi region. The humidity makes for a serene environment and the experience of walking through a steaming jungle is just incredible.

One of the best activities to do in the wet season is hiking. While it may sound miserable to walk in the rain, the weather allows for an unforgettable experience and a bit of relief during a sweaty climb. One of the most popular hikes in the Krabi region is the Tiger Cave Temple, up 1200 steps. The views from the top are well worth the effort and you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to do the climb.

Saving money. Visiting Krabi in the wet season is one of the easiest ways of saving money. With fewer crowds and more availability of accommodation and activities, prices will be far reduced in comparison to the dry season.

If you’re a budget traveler and don’t mind a bit of rain then deciding to visit in the wet season can be one of the biggest money-savers. You’ll likely have to have more flexibility in your itinerary to deal with tour rescheduling if the weather is overly bad, but the saving is very much worth it.

Legend has it that within the limestone caves that are located at the bottom of the rock formation lived a tiger, which gave the temple its name. Now there are no tigers, but there are plenty of cheeky monkeys, so make sure to keep your belongings close to you at all times.

A great time to visit is at sunrise or sunset to experience the magic colors of the sky set against the gold of the Buddha.

Beginning this guided tour of Krabi , you can take small walk in the city itself, in order to discover the main monuments.

What are the things to see in Krabi?

1) Wat Kaew Ko Wararam: a pretty, white temple (not to be confused with Chiang Rai temple) which has a staircase decorated with dragon sculptures. Inside, you can admire a golden Buddha.

The temple is located in the heart of the city, on Maharaj street. Entry is free.

2) Andaman Art Museum, which opened just recently, opposite the Wat Kaew. This contemporary art museum houses a collection of paintings and sculptures by Thai and international artists.

3) Krabi market: a local and not really a touristy market where you can eat pocket friendly food. A Pad Thai costs barely 40 Bahts and you can end up with fresh fruit at 20 Bahts, all accompanied by a 30 Baht coconut water. Less than 100 Bahts for the meal, dessert and drink!

It is also located on Maharaj street.

4) Krabi Weekend Night Market: the Krabi Town night market is located towards the Chao Fah pier on Maharaj 8 Alley street. From Friday to Sunday evening, you can try delicious Thai cuisine sold in the numerous street stands.

There are also dance and music shows.

5) Khao Kanab Nam: these 2 karst rocks shaped like crab pincers and 100 metres tall have become the symbol of the city.

You can admire them from the river in Krabi Town or even go by long tail boat (the typical Thai boats). The boats leave from Chao Fah quay and the crossing takes just 15 minutes.

Exploring the 2 rock formations is usually combined with a visit to the caves just nearby (entrance at 30 Bahts) and a passage through the mangrove . You will end the tour with a stop at a fish farm in the fishing village of Ko Klang.

The ride lasts 2 hours and costs between 450 and 600 Bahts for the boat. The more people with you, the less you will pay.

Krabi

The Tiger Temple or Tiger Cave Temple is one of the main places of interest to visit in Krabi.

It is located less than 12 km from the city centre.

Built on top of a hill, the upper part of the temple is accessible via a staircase that has no less than 1,237 steps to be precise. And to top it all off, the staircase is really very steep, which makes the climb akin to a sports activity. Take your time, bring some water and all will be well!

At the top, if the weather is clear, you can enjoy a 360° view of the whole province. If it has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Krabi despite the arduous climb, it’s indeed worth it!

The round-trip takes between 1h and 1h30.

On the site, on the right side before the stairs to climb the temple, you can also take a walk in the part called “Wonderland”. To reach it, you will also have to go through a staircase but much smaller than the one that leads to the top.

You can also see the “Tiger cave”, the cave after which the temple is named. Tiger paw prints were found there, which led to believe that a tiger lived there.

During the 30 minute walk through the jungle you can also admire some very large trees.

Practical information: entry to the temple is free . Ladies, remember to bring something to cover your shoulders and legs with you.

There are several bars, restaurants, shops and toilets all around and inside the hotel.

To get to the Tiger Cave Temple from Krabi Town , you have to take the red song thaew (shared taxi). They leave from Utarakit street but you can hail them on the road and they will stop if they are not full.

You also have the option of a tuk tuk or a taxi, but it will be more expensive.

The last possibility is to book a trip including the visit of the temple and exploring Krabi Town and the market. You will find all the information about this trip to Krabi with driver by clicking here!

temple du tigre Krabi

Ao Nang is one of the must-see spots during a stay in Krabi.

It is the province’s main seaside resorts. Here you can find the beaches closest to the centre, about 20 km away.

Many people choose to stay there to be near the sea rather than in the city.

The Ao Nang area has several beautiful beaches:

  • Ao Nang Beach: a large sandy beach bordered by numerous bars, restaurants and tour desks. All the tourist activities of Krabi and the surrounding area are concentrated there. This is where you can take the boat to Railay (I’ll tell you a bit more about that in this article).
  • Noppharat Thara Beach: another big beach with fewer people than Ao Nang. Also very pretty and wilder. However, there are no boats leaving from this beach.
  • The Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas beach in a protected bay. To reach there, you have take a staircase and a path through a forest that begins at the end of Ao Nang beach. Alternatively, you can rent a kayak to get there. There aren’t a lot of people here apart from the hotel guests.

If you are staying in Ao Nang during your trip to Thailand , it is also the best way to visit the surrounding islands. All tour operators offer trips to Koh Phi Phi, the Hong Islands or the 4 islands with departure from Ao Nang Beach.

I will give you the details for all these trips in the rest of this article.

Ao Nang is also famous for its beautiful sunset . If you are spending some time in the area, you can admire it from the beach, but if you want to change it up a little and do a nice activity, you must book a cruise at dusk.

The cruise, which begins in the early afternoon, offers several snorkelling stops before ending with a dinner at sunset on the islands of the Andaman Sea.

The rate includes cruise, meals, soft drinks and unlimited fruit, as well as snorkelling equipment.

To book your cruise at sunset, just click on the button below:

Just a few miles from Ao Nang is Fossil Shell Beach, a fossil shell a seashell graveyard on the beach.

After reading this, you may want to go there, but in reality there isn’ t much to see except a few mineral slabs (strongly resembling concrete slabs) with embedded fossils.

Ao-Nang

Railay is one of the places you must absolutely see in the province of Krabi.

To get to Railay, you have to take the boat from Ao Nang Beach . You do not need to book your trip in advance. Just go there and buy your ticket directly at the shack by the beach.

The fare is 200 Bahts per person for a boat trip of less than 10 minutes.

Once you get to Railay, you will quickly realise that this is one of the most beautiful places to go to the beach in Krabi . The setting is truly heavenly! However, don’t expect to be alone, there are a lot of people.

What are the things to see in Railay, Krabi province:

1) Railay West Beach: this beach is where you will arrive by boat, half of the beach is reserved for disembarking from boats.

Flanked by large karst cliffs, this large beach with fine sands is really very pretty. You can swim, sunbathe and rent kayaks and paddle boats.

2) Railay East Beach: this beach is not really suitable for swimming, especially at low tide. Rather, it is used for boats that disembark and board people staying at nearby hotels. To the left is a small, quiet beach that is easily accessible.

3) Between the beach of Railay West and that of Railay East , there is a small tourist village that has several restaurants, shops, hotels and tour and information offices.

4) The Phra Nang Nai Cellar: a cave that can be visited for 200 Bahts but frankly, it is not interesting.

5) Railay view point: to get there, you will have to make a very steep climb with ropes for about 20 minutes. If you don’t have sneakers, it is better to go bare foot than flip-flops: it’s muddy and slippery.

The view from the top will be worth the effort!

You can then continue the walk by going to the Princess Lagoon, a crater filled with water with a small cave on the side. The descent to get there is a bit difficult and even requires a bit of climbing at the end.

You’re going to Krabi?

You probably know it: the hardest part of planning your trip is to find an hotel offering a good value for money!

The closer you get to your travel dates, the harder it will be to get a good deal. Lots of people will be visiting Krabi on the same dates as you , so you can be sure that the best deals are booked extremely quickly!

Hopefully, there is a pretty simple solution to this problem: do like me and book your hotel as early as possible!

So, my best advice is to take 5 minutes (now) to have a look at the list of travelers’ favorite hotels in Krabi.

And if you see a good offer, book it!

Most hotels offer free cancellation, so it’s quick, easy, and you will avoid the the inconvenience of finding nothing but mediocre rooms at exorbitant prices.

To check the current best deals for your hotel in Krabi, simply click on the green button below 😎:

Once you’ve booked your hotel, it will be time to continue reading this guide and find out more about the best things to do in Krabi!

Railay beach

6) Phra Nang Beach: clearly the most beautiful beach in Railay, the place is truly superb, a postcard-worthy vista! This is one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen on my tour in Thailand.

On the left, at very the end, you can go and see the Phra Nang Cave. Legend has it that the cave is inhabited by the spirit of a princess whose boat ran aground here after a big storm. The Thai fishermen come here to lay down wooden phalluses so that the princess will grant them an abundant bounty of fish.

If you cross the cave and go across the rocks, there’s a small view point.

On the opposite side of Ao Nang Cave , at the end of the beach, you can also take a path that climbs up to a large cave.

However, you will need a flashlight to explore it, as the place is not developed at all. It is not possible to continue the path further and go down the other side on Railay West Beach , unless you have climbing equipment.

And talking about climbing, this is one of the main reasons why people come to spend some time in Railay. The peninsula is known for its approximately 700 climbing routes.

Whether you are a beginner or a veteran climber, you will have plenty to do in Railay. You can choose to take a course lasting a few hours or even one lasting several days.

To book a 4-hour climbing course in Railay , please click on the button below.

Rates include pick-up at your hotel in Krabi, Ao Nang or Railay, an experienced instructor and equipment rental.

The guide is very nice and you can do this activity safely with equipment that meets international standards.

If you are looking for a beautiful beach with fewer people, I recommend going to Tonsai Beach. It is located between Ao Nang beach and Railay West beach.

Krabi Railay Plage

Did you visit Krabi Town? You have explored the nearby beaches and you don’t know what to do in Krabi anymore?

Now you can discover the most beautiful islands in the area through boat trips.

One of the most famous is the one that takes you to 4 small islands near Krabi:

  • Koh Kai, nicknamed Chicken Island because of its chicken-shaped rock formation
  • Phra Nang Cave (in Railay)

Departures every morning from Ao Nang beach. A boat will pick you up and take you around the 4 islands , stopping at each one so that you can swim and go snorkelling.

The price includes pick-up from of your hotel, one-day boat rental, diving equipment, lunch and as much water as needed.

You can book this one-day boat trip by clicking on the button below:

The trip I’ve just mentioned involves a boat, but if you wish, you can also make this trip in longtail boats, the traditional Thai boats.

You can reserve it by clicking here!

Finally, if you prefer to visit the 4 islands around Krabi in the afternoon (departure around 1.30pm) in order to watch the sunset afterwards, this is the trip you need (click here)!

Koh Poda

Another unmissable trip from Krabi and Ao Nang is the one-day trip to Koh Phi Phi.

If you haven’t already visited this island during your Thai itinerary, then now the time!

The island of Koh Phi Phi is famous worldwide for the famous Maya Bay beach where a part of the movie “The Beach” starring Leonardo di Caprio was shot.

Unfortunately, the fame spread so much that every day dozens of boats and thousands of people came to the beach. This influx was disastrous for the ecosystem and corals, which were severely damaged.

The beach was therefore closed down completely for several years (and even today the authorities can decide to close it a few months a the year to protect it). And even you are able to go there during your visit, it is now forbidden to swim there.

Rest assured though, you will still have the opportunity to admire it from the boat!

In addition to Maya Bay, the trip includes:

  • Snorkelling in Hin Klang Reef
  • A visit to the Viking cave with its murals
  • Snorkelling in the Pileh lagoon
  • A trip through the Bay of Monkeys
  • Lunch on Phi Phi Don Island
  • A relaxing break on the Bamboo Island beach

To book this trip to Koh Phi Phi, you can just click the button:

If you are going to Krabi for a short time , you can also book a trip to discover Koh Phi Phi + the 4 islands mentioned above (Koh Poda, Koh Tup, Chicken Island and Phra Nang Cave).

This is a 2-in-1 trip, and is very convenient to see everything in 1 day instead of 2.

Koh Phi Phi

Last boat trip available to you during your stay in Krabi: explore the Hong Islands.

Embark on a day of total relaxation with only snorkelling and swimming in the turquoise water on the agenda.

The round-trips from your hotel, the day-trip in a boat, diving equipment, lunch and guide expenses are included in the price.

To book this amazing trip, just click on the following button:

This boat trip to the Hong Islands from Krabi is also available with an afternoon departure to enjoy a barbecue on the beach at sunset.

Here is another idea for a day trip from Krabi, but this time on land: the emerald pool and the hot springs.

Located some fifty km from Krabi, the Emerald Pool (Sa Morakot in Thai) is one of the most popular tourist sites in Krabi. It is frequented by both tourists and Thai people, who love to come here with their families on weekends.

The swimming pool is actually a natural pool where you can swim in spring water with an incredible emerald green colour. On the site, in addition to the swimming area, you can also take the paths and go to another natural swimming pool: the Blue Pool (swimming not allowed).

From the car park, you have to walk a little less than 1 km to reach the emerald swimming pool. The entrance to the nature reserve costs 200 Bahts per person.

As there is no public transport to get there, it is best to either rent a scooter or go on an organised tour.

If you choose the latter option, the trip, in addition to the Emerald Pool, can also take you to the hot springs fed by a waterfall with water at 40°.

You will finish the day at the Tiger Temple, which I mentioned at the beginning of this article.

To book this trip at the Emerald Pool + Hot Springs + Tiger Cave , just click the button:

Emerald Pool Krabi

For a change from the long sandy beaches and islands, I recommend that you go for a ride in the Khao Phanom Bencha National Park during your holiday in Krabi.

It is just 20 km north of the city .

The park is the ideal place to go hiking in Krabi. It has several paths to walk through the jungle and observe the fauna and flora.

Also another unmissable spot is the Huay Toh waterfall , which has several levels and where the main waterfall is 230 feet high. You can even take a dip!

To go to Khao Phanom Bencha National Park, you will have to rent a scooter, a car or book a tuk tuk or a taxi for the day.

Entrance to the park is 200 Bahts per person + 20 Bahts for scooter.

Parc national Khao Phanom Bencha

Visiting Krabi is also about enjoying nature.

If you enjoy hiking , in addition to Khao Phanom Bencha National Park, you can also do the Tab Kak Hang Nak Nature Trail.

The 3.7 km path leads up to the summit and affords a panoramic view of Krabi province and the islands.

This trail is rather gruelling , so don’t wear flip-flops. Sneakers or even hiking shoes are mandatory to climb the stony trail. And remember to bring enough water.

It takes about 2 hours to reach the summit.

Entry to the site is free but the rangers who welcome you and give you some explanations will appreciate it if you leave a tip.

There is also no public transport to reach the beginning of the trail. From Krabi (40 km away), you can take a scooter, car, tuk tuk or taxi.

The time taken to get there, go up, take photos, climb down and return to Krabi, is more or less one day.

Tab Kak Hang Nak Nature Trail

If you’re tired of basking on the beach, you can do several sports activities in Krabi (click on the orange links to book):

  • Ziplines and tree-climbing . The Ao Nang Fiore Zipline Adventure offers 2 different options: one for beginners and/or families and one more complicated. Book here!
  • Sea kayaking in the Thalane mangrove where you can observe crabs, herons and monkeys. If you want to go kayaking in Krabi, you can book your activity here.
  • Quad biking.   The route takes you right through the rainforest.
  • Several tours even offer a combination of quad bikes with kayaking, which allows you to do 2 activities in the same day. To make sure you go through a reliable agency, you can book this activity here.
  • A horse ride on the beach is an option for a romantic activity in Krabi!
  • A Thai boxing class to discover one of the country’s most popular sports
  • Stand up paddling
  • A bike tour with a guide in a national park around Krabi
  • Go karting

kayaking ao nang

Several Krabi agencies also offer sports activities such as quad biking or kayaking + a ride on elephants. Knowing how these animals are treated, I strongly advise against it.

If you really want to see elephants, I recommend the Krabi Elephant Sanctuary , which houses abused elephants. For half a day, you can feed them and help bathe them.

The round-trip to and from the sanctuary is included.

If you wish to go and see the elephants during your stay in Krabi , you must book in advance by clicking on the green button below:

Elephants Thailand

As you will see, the food in Thailand is really delicious! Even the simplest dishes like fried rice are very good.

If you want to make the local specialities once you get home, I suggest you take the opportunity during your holiday in Krabi to take a cooking class. In addition to learning how to cook 4 dishes and taste them, you will leave with a recipe booklet!

And what I find very nice is that each person can choose the dishes that they want to prepare, including a green curry, Pad Thai pad, spicy shrimp soup , coconut milk chicken , sticky mango rice, curry sauce pasta etc..

The best things to do around Krabi?

After doing all the things I’m talking about in this guide to Krabi, it’s time to continue your road trip in Thailand !

From the Krabi province, you can easily reach other famous places such as Koh Lanta or Phuket .

Koh Lanta is one of the best known islands to visit in the surroundings of Krabi.

To discover the island, you just have to rent a scooter and follow the main road in search of the most beautiful beaches.

From Koh Lanta, you can also go on boat trips to Koh Rok or the islands of Koh Ngai and Koh Muk.

I will give you all the detailed explanations to visit Koh Lanta in this article: The best things to do in Koh Lanta?

Koh Lanta

Less well-known than Koh Lanta and yet just as pretty, Koh Yao Noi is also close to Krabi.

The island is still not much visited and doesn’t have mass tourism. In short, a paradise for those seeking peace and quiet, the ideal place to spend a totally relaxing holiday in a postcard setting.

It is also the perfect island for boat cruises to James Bond Island or the islands of Than Bok Khorani National Park.

All things to do in Koh Yao Noi can be found in our article: Visit Koh Yao Noi.

Koh Yao Noi tour scooter

Phuket is without doubt the most touristy island around Krabi.

People come here mainly to party all night and enjoy the beautiful beaches and water activities during the day.

The island is also an excellent starting point for discovering Koh Phi Phi, Phang Nga Bay or even the Similan Islands.

If you would like to visit Phuket, we recommend you read our article: Phuket: the definitive guide.

Phuket plage

These 2 names probably don’t mean anything to you (and it’s understandable because I had never heard of them before I went to Krabi) and yet these 2 small islands lie between Krabi and Koh Lanta.

They both have a few hotels but are completely protected from mass tourism and still very authentic.

It is an excellent choice if all you want for your vacation is some quiet and rest! It is a place that is totally off the beaten track, perfect for a relaxing stay in Thailand.

To reach these islands, you will have to take a boat to Krabi, or, if you are coming from Koh Lanta, the ferry makes 2 stops on the way to unload the passengers.

To visit Krabi, I recommend a minimum of 3 days.

You can of course spend 4, 5 days or even 1 week here to do all the activities or simply stay on the beach.

In 1 day in Krabi, you must go to Railay.

Guests can relax at the beach , discover the Phra Nang Cave and climb to the viewpoint.

On your way back in a boat to Ao Nang at the end of the day , you can enjoy the beautiful sunset over the bay.

If you have 2 days in Krabi , you can continue from the schedule for the first day and add a trip to the surrounding islands, with the choice of:

  • Trip to the 4 islands
  • Day at Koh Phi Phi
  • The 4 islands + Koh Phi Phi
  • Trip to Hong Islands

On the third day in Krabi , in addition to the previous 2 days, you have several options:

1) A trip to the islands, choosing those that you did not go to on day 2

2) Climbing to the Tiger temple in the morning and discovering Krabi Town in the afternoon

3) One day at the emerald pool and hot springs

4) The Tab Kak Hang Nak trail

5) Hiking in Khao Phanom Bencha National Park

6) Sports activities such as kayaking in the mangrove or zip line.

For 4, 5 or even 7 days in Krabi , you won’t have to choose, you’ll be able to do all the important things.

If you spread out the day 3 options over the rest of your stay in Krabi, you will have plenty to do!

You can then continue your holiday in Thailand by going to Koh Lanta or Phuket.

Where to stay in Krabi

There are 3 main areas to stay in Krabi province:

  • Krabi Town, practical for visiting “land” sites such as the national park, the tiger temple or the emerald swimming pool.
  • Ao Nang if you are looking for a lively area on the seafront and for trips to nearby islands such as Koh Phi Phi or Chicken Island.
  • Railay to enjoy the beach.

To help you, I have prepared a selection of the best hotels to stay based on these areas and your budget.

  • Pak-Up Hostel: Hostel located in the centre of Krabi. Dormitory bed from 7€. Strong points: cleanliness, large storage lockers under the beds, air conditioned dormitories. Perfect for small budgets and backpackers!
  • Krabi Golden Hill Hotel: Located 500 metres from the river and 900 m from the Night market. Spacious and bright double room from €25, breakfast included. Strong points: swimming pool, friendly staff, free shuttle to the city centre.

Bhu Nga Thani Resort & Spa - Hôtel de luxe à Railay

The easiest way to get around Krabi, Ao Nang and the surroundings is to rent a scooter. You don’t have to follow a schedule and you can do anything you want during the day.

If you only plan to stay in Krabi Town or Ao Nang , you can also use the song thaew . The red ones connect Fossil Shell / Ao Nang / Krabi / Tiger Cave. The Blue ones, Krabi Town and the airport.

But you can’t go to the emerald pool or the national park in a song thaew, for example.

You will then have to book a taxi for the half day or the day.

If you wish to hire a car (or even a minibus) with a private driver that will take you to visit the places of your choice , the rates are around €65 for 2 for 4 hours and €90 for 2 for 8 hours.

You can click on the button to view the details and make your reservation:

How to go to Krabi

You have several options to reach Krabi.

To go to Krabi from Koh Lanta , you will have to take the boat.

The journey takes about 2h30 with 2 5-minute stops to disembark the passengers who want to go to Koh Jum and Koh Siboya. To give you an idea, we paid 350 Bahts per person with the transfer from our hotel in Koh Lanta to the port.

In the boat, you will be offered shuttles to reach your hotel in Krabi, Railay or Ao Nang . The prices are quite high but don’t hesitate to negotiate.

Otherwise, when you arrive at the port, you will find taxis but the prices are fixed and just as high.

The ferry ride from Koh Phi Phi to Krabi takes about 2 hours.

You can book your transport with pick-up directly from your hotel and the included boat ticket by clicking on the button below:

And ifyou prefer to take a speedboat to reduce the travel time (1 hour only), this is also possible and you need to book it here.

The quickest way to get to Krabi from Phuket is to take a minibus.

The journey takes a little more than 3 hours. You have to take the bus to Phuket station or the airport.

Krabi has an airport 10 km south of the city . There are flights from Bangkok every day.

The flight time is only 1 hour 10 minutes from Bangkok to Krabi. The price is also super interesting: less than €50 per person.

If you are not in a hurry, it is also possible to catch a bus to Krabi from Bangkok . Departure is from the Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai in Thai).

The ride is 12 hours , so I recommend you book a VIP bus for more comfort.

Once you arrive at Krabi airport, you can catch the bus or a song thaew to Krabi Town, Ao Nang or Railay.

To avoid hassle, you can also book your group transfer from Krabi Airport to Krabi town or Ao Nang. A driver will wait for you upon your arrival to take you to your hotel. Prices start at only €8 per person.

However, you have to book in advance by clicking here!

Private transfers are also available and it really doesn’t cost much more if there are 2 or 3 of you. Here is the link with all the information.

Since flight prices for Krabi vary greatly, it is a good idea to compare them as soon as possible. To do this, you can use our flight comparison tool, in partnership with Skyscanner.  You can rest assured that you will get the best rates.

To help you visualise the town a little better, I made you a tourist map of Krabi listing the places to visit that I talk about in this top 17 things to do in Krabi and nearby. You can display the map legend by clicking the button at the top left with a small arrow.

So what have you planned to in Krabi?

Best Things to do in Krabi, Thailand

Written By: The Planet D

Updated On: July 22, 2023

Krabi Province is our favorite destination in Thailand. With so many things to do in Krabi, it has taken us several visits to see it all! This beautiful southern province of Thailand packs a huge punch with beautiful natural limestone cliffs, mangrove forests, and more than 150 islands in the Andaman Sea.

No trip to Thailand would be complete without adding Krabi to your itinerary. Once you see everything that Krabi has to offer, you’ll be itching to go to Thailand .

Table of Contents

Best Things to Do in Krabi Thailand

The first half of this post of the best things to do in Krabi post will start in the islands and then we will head to the mainland to showcase all the top sights around Krabi Town. So let’s get started.

1. Rock Climbing in Railay

Things to do in Krabi Deb Rock Climbing

Rock climbing tops our list of the best things to do in Krabi. When we first visited Thailand in 2000, we made a beeline to Railay to go rock climbing in Krabi. It is one of the best places in the world to learn how to rock climb.

Rock climbers of all levels are drawn to the more than 300 climbing routes up its limestone cliffs. Whenever we go back we make a point to go rock climbing in Railay. We’ve climbed with King Climbers and Hot Rocks and both are professional and affordable. Take a top rope rock climbing excursion with them for a day or learn how to lead climb on a multiday rock climbing course.

A lot of companies offer climbing course to Railay, but book with the companies that have been there forever there are a few on the island.

Where to Stay in Railay – We have stayed at many different hotels in Railay. It is a small destination that is easy to walk to most places, so it really doesn’t matter where you choose. It all depends on your budget. Railay Bay Resort & Spa is a personal favourite for an upscale stay and Diamond Cave is a good mid-range.

2. Railay Beach

things to do in krabi - railay beach

Railay houses some of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand . After you have had an adventure rock climbing, chill out on Railay Beach for a few nights. Railay Beach East is the most beautiful to catch some rays or rent a kayak. Railay Beach West is where all the nightlife happens and then you can head over to Phra Nang Beach for some caving.

There are plenty of things to keep you occupied at Railay Beach. Restaurants line the beach for the ultimate chill-out experience and the nightlife goes wild on Railay.

3. Phra Nang Beach

what to do in krabi - phra nang beach cave

Phra Nang Beach is Thailand’s most famous and beautiful beach. With sea caves, warm waters and white sand bookended by two limestone cliffs and sea caves. It attracts day trippers by the hundreds. But when staying on Railay, you have it all to yourself as you go for a walk early in the morning.

When you see it deserted, you’ll understand why it became one of the most popular beaches in Thailand. Looking out from the beach to see the towering rock formations is one of the most beautiful views in the islands.

Phra Nang Cave is a beautiful cave to take in the view as its stalactites frame the scene. At the other end of the beach, you can hike through a massive cave to emerge at the incredible viewpoints of Ralaiy Bay.

Getting to Railay

Railay Beach and Phra Nang Beach can easily be reached by longtail boat from Ao Nang. They are just a 20 minute boat ride away. Boats also run regularly from Krabi Town. The trip is approximately 45 minutes.

4. Ao Nang Beach

fields in ao nang - krabi attractions

When visiting Railay, chances are you will go through the beach town of Ao Nang. We actually stayed once in Ao Nang and commuted to Railay by long-tail boat and it was good fun.

Ao Nang Beach is not as beautiful as Railay Beach but it is a fun place to stay with so many hotels, restaurants, and bars to keep you busy. Plus, there are plenty of excursions from Ao Nang Beach that will take you out on an island tour of Krabi every day.

5. Sea Kayaking 0 Koh Hong Island

things to do in krabi kayaking

One of the best things to do in Krabi is to go kayaking. Take a day trip to Koh Hong Island in Than Bok Khorani National Park. Hong means, room in the center of the island and that is exactly what you’ll see at  Koh Hong. It has a hidden lagoon in its center which is the coolest thing to see.

Paddle through a cave at low tide and come out inside surrounded by limestone cliffs. Phang Nga Bay.

6. Island Hopping

things to do in krabi kayaking islands

If kayaking isn’t your speed, you can hire a longtail boat to go island hopping for the day to see the beautiful islands that have been featured in Jame Bond and The Beach. There are several day trips that leave from Ao Nang, Railay or Krabi town that will take you out to see the stunning islands of Krabi.

  • Check out these top-rated island hopping tours to see Rope Island and Emerald Cave. Details here.
  • Visit James Bond Island on this speed boat tour around Krabi. Details here.

You can book a four island tour to go island hopping in Krabi which we highly recommend. Islands include Chicken Island, Railay Beach, Tub Island, and Poda Island which stand proud in the turquoise water of the Andaman Sea. Book this highly rated tour here.

7. Ao Thalane Bay Among the Mangroves

Ao Thalane Bay things to do in Krabi, Thailand

One of the more off the beaten path things to do in Krabi is to go kayaking at Ao Thalane Bay. This beautiful day trip leaves from Krabi Town, Ao Nang or Railay Beach and takes you to a mangrove forest where you’ll paddle into dark caves and hidden pools. Like the islands of Krabi Ao Thalane Bay has karst islands jutting into the air.

8. Phi Phi Islands

koh phi phi don things to do in krabi province

It is hard to believe that one province can have so many beautiful places. Phi Phi is an island paradise and is certainly one of the top attractions in Krabi. Phi Phi Don is the main tourist island with five-star resorts, beach bungalows, and nightlife. This is where you’ll find many hotels and beaches and where you can book day tours via longtail boat to surrounding islands.

The main beaches on Koh Phi Phi Don are Tonsai, Long Beach, and Nui Beach. Tonsai is where you’ll also find dive centers, travel agents, and beach bars. If you are looking for a great place to stay on Phi Phi Don, The PP Princess Resort is located on a stretch of white sand beach along oh Dalum Bay.

9. Island Tour to Maya Bay

things to do in krabi maya bay ko phi phi pix

Phi Phi Leh is part of the Hat Noppharat Thara – Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park and is about 30 minutes from Koh Phi Phi Don by boat. It is also where you’ll find the famous Maya Bay.

Maya Bay is one of the best beaches in Thailand that was used as the setting for the Beach. No trip to the Phi Phi islands would be complete without seeing this pristine beach. It is closed to tourists but you can hire a bot to take you to see the limestone cliffs surrounding its white sand beaches. Access to Maya Bay is limited to a few daily visitors so check with your hotel for details.

How to Get There

Ferries and speed boats run regularly from Phuket, Krabi Town, or Koh Lanta. You can book day tours to the Phi Phi Islands from Krabi by speed boat. Details here.

9. Koh Lanta

sunset at koh lanta thailand in krabi

Koh Lanta is a great places to unwind and chill out. Another paradise island in Krabi, it has beautiful beaches to relax and enjoy some pad that with a cold Chang Beer. Long Beach is exactly that. A long beach filled with beach bungalows and restaurants.

10. Scuba Diving

manta ray swimming pix

While the best scuba diving in Thailand is on Koh Tao or Koh Samui , Koh Lanta is one of the best places to go scuba diving on the west coast of Thailand. Marine Life to see in these waters are Blacktip reef sharks, sea turtles, seahorses, manta rays and if you time it correctly, whale sharks.

11. Skull Island – Koh Talabeng

One of the coolest things to do in Krabi is to take a kayaking trip to Skull Island. Located about 20 minutes by boat from Koh Lanta, Skull Island is a karst island that looks like a skull. It’s an adventurous day trip involving climbing ropes and tire ladders to explore inside the cave where you get to look out from the eyes of the skull.

You can book tours from your guesthouse or at the beach.

12. Koh Klang

One of the most interesting things to do in Krabi is to take a long tail boat to the island of Koh Klang. It just a few minutes from the town of Krabi but it feels worlds away. The local villagers live a simple life fishing and harvesting rice.

13. Thai Massage

Thai Massage on Beach - pix

I think every single article I’ve written about Thailand includes getting a traditional Thai Massage. It is one of the best things to do in Thailand because they are so cheap and amazing. Where else on earth can you get a daily massage if you like? In Krabi, get a massage on a beach and feel like a millionaire as you relax under palm trees getting those aching muscles worked out.

14. Krabi Town

things to do in Krabi town mascot crab - pix

Krabi Town is the main hub and chances are if you are flying or taking the train from Bangkok to Krabi, you will be entering here. It’s worth sticking around for a couple of days to take in the vibe and it makes a great base to explore all the attractions around Krabi before moving on to the islands.

15. Krabi Town Night Market

things to do in krabi - krabit town night market lanterns at night market thailand

Like every city in Thailand, Krabi has a fantastic night market. One of the best things to do in Krabi Town is to go out at night and do some shopping at the Weekend Night market. This is your chance to try some street food at the many food stalls, munch on pad thai or pick up your Thailand souvenirs.

The  Chao Fah Night Market is the largest market. Other markets to visit include Klong Muang Market, and Ao Nang Market.

16. Khao Khanab Nam Mountains

The most striking landmarks of Krabi are The Khao Khanab Nam Mountains. Known as the gateway to Krabi Town these two mountains stand on either side of the river. Hire a boat to take you on a trip to climb the mountains or explore its caves. Longtail boats can be hired from the Chaofa Pier in Krabi.

17. Thai Cooking Class

things to do in krabi thai cooking class thai food - pix

While in Krabi make sure to take a Thai Cooking class. One of our favorite things to spark memories of Thailand, when we are back in Canada, is to whip up some Thai Food. Go to the local markets to find fresh ingredients and learn to make your favorite Thai food from Thai Curries to spring rolls. We took a cooking class years ago and it was one of the best investments we made during our travels in Thailand.

18. Wat Tham Sua (Tiger Cave Temple)

things to do in Krabi wat tham sua cave tiger temple in Krabi Thailand - pix

Krabi isn’t all about natural beauty and outdoor adventures, you can also enjoy cultural experiences in Krabi. Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Sua) is just 3km from Krabi Town and is one of the not to miss things to do in Krabi.

Sitting atop a high cliff, Tiger Cave Temple is a working temple with monks living within a maze of caves. Make sure to climb its 1,272 to see the massive golden Buddha statue and don’t miss the footprint of the Buddha. Tours can be combined with Hot Springs and Emerald Pool on this Jungle Tour.

19. Wat Kaew Ko Wararam

visit krabi in july

Another temple to visit in Krabi is the White Temple or Wat Keaw Ko Wararam. It is an easy visit located downtown Krabi, so when you are doing your shopping, be sure to stop by for a photo.

It is one of the most beautiful temples in Krabi Province.

20. Emerald Pool – Thung Teao Forest Natural Park

One of the most popular activities in Krabi is a visit to the Emerald Pool in Thung Teao Forest Natural Park. Another great day trip in Krabi, Thung Teao Forest Natural Park is about an hour from Ao Nang. Take the 2.7 km nature trail to the Emerald Pool, (Aka Crystal Pool) to swim in its crystal clear waters, enjoy the water fall and explore the flora and fauna.

21. Klong Thom Hot Springs – Krabi Hot Springs

visit krabi in july

It’s not normally at the top of my list of things to do in hot destinations, but the Klong Thom Hot Springs are worth the drive from Krabi Town. Usually combined on a day trip with the Emerald Pool, the Krabi Hot Springs are therapeutic pools that reach 35-40 degrees Celcius. The smooth stone pools are located in the heart of the jungle. Soothe those aching travel muscles with a bit of thermal mineral therapy.

You can book tours to the hot springs with a spa package at GetYourGuide. Full refunds within 24 hours of cancellation.

22. Khao Phanom Bencha National Park

Khao Phanom Bencha National Park - near krabi town things to do in Krabi,

Another jungle escape from Krabi is a visit to Khao Phanom Bencha located 30 minutes from Krabi Town. What draws people here? Hiking trails, limestone caves and waterfalls. No trip to Thailand would be complete without visiting a waterfalls. This is less touristy than other locations since it’s a little farther away from it all, so it’s good for people looking for a quiet escape.

23. Shell Cemetery at Susan Hoi

Certainly one of the most unique things to do in Krabi is to visit the Shell Cemetery at Susan Hoi. Dating back 40 million years, this fish cemetery is one of only three of its kind in the world. Located just 17 km from Krabi Town, it contains fossilized shellfish and snails preserved in its rocks.

When to Visit Krabi

  • The best time to visit Krabi is between December and March. The weather is dry and warm, but it is also the high season.
  • You can visit Krabi in November and April and still have great weather and may encounter fewer crowds.
  • During the high season, hotels are often booked in advance, so make sure to book accommodation ahead of time.

  • From Ao Nang, you can catch regular longtail boast to Ton Sai and Railay Beach.
  • Longtail boats will also take you from the Chao Fah pier in Krabi Town to Railay Beach on a regular basis. They take about 25 minutes.

Krabi is thought to be one of the oldest communities within Thailand with findings going back to the prehistoric era. Its beautiful islands and weather make it a great destination within South East Asia. Given the seasonality of weather patterns, we think the best time to visit Krabi is during from December through March during its dry season.

Krabi is 814 kilometres south of Bangkok and it traverses 4,708 square kilometres of Thailand. The province is well-known for its beaches, islands, water sports, and scenic beauty. When to visit Krabi

Last updated on 30 March 2018 by Your Krabi

Krabi enjoys a tropical climate with the temperature rarely dropping below 27C in the daytime, year round (the average is around 32C). There are two seasons, dry and rainy, defined by the reversal of the monsoon winds.

The northeasterly winds bring the driest weather from around December to April, with the temperature getting progressively hotter as the months go by. The southwesterly winds make rain more prevalent during May – November, with the wettest months tending to be September and October. But the seasonal changeover does not always happen on schedule so, for example, it is possible that the rain starts “early” in April one year and not until mid-June the next.

Weather-wise, the ideal time to visit Krabi is in late January to March, when you are sure to enjoy nearly perfect conditions: calm, glassy seas; clear blue skies; moderate temperatures; and only a tiny chance of shower burst. By coming at this time, you also avoid the peak season supplements the hotels charge around Christmas and New Year.

This time is, naturally, extremely busy here, so you may find popular hotels and beaches full, especially around the Chinese New Year. Some people prefer to visit Krabi in the ‘rainy’ off-season, despite the risk of showers, as it is cooler, cheaper and much less crowded – it is even possible to have a whole island to yourself!

Booking a holiday during the monsoon months of May-November remains, however, a gamble: while the typical rainy season pattern is of sunny days punctuated by short, heavy showers, you could just as easily end up with ten days of unbroken rain – or sun!

For more information about the rainy season, see our guide to the tourist low season in Krabi .

The Krabi Vegetarian Festival occurs during October and is a great cultural explorative festival.

  • Average Rainfall: 325mm / 22 days

This is the first month of the high season. The average daytime temperature remains at 31 degrees Celsius, and 22 degrees at nighttime. The number of predicted rainy days drops down to 14. The weather begins to calm down and become more calm and clear.

The weather is perfect for a tropical vacation, and if you choose to visit at the beginning of the month you will experience Krabi with wonderful weather and low amounts of tourists. If you visit in November, expect there to be a large influx of travelers as people begin their holiday vacations. There are famous Loy Krathong celebrations around Krabi during this month, and plenty of tourist attractions to visit.

  • Average Temperature: 26,7°C / 80°F
  • Average High Temperature: 30°C / 86°F
  • Average Rainfall: 252mm / 17 days

December has an average high temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and an average low of 22 degrees. The weather during this month is clear and cool, with only 6 days of predicted rain. This is one of the most popular months to visit Krabi due to the phenomenal weather perfect for island hopping and relaxing on the beach.

If you choose to visit Krabi in December, expect there to be a lot of tourists. December is the busiest out of all the months in Krabi. Most desirable accommodation options will be booked ahead of time, so try to keep this in mind when planning your trip. There are plenty of things to do around Krabi during the high season including outdoor exploration, sightseeing, and even cultural exploration with events like King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Birthday celebrations.

  • Average Temperature: 27,2°C / 81°F
  • Average Rainfall: 108mm / 10 days

tourist on the boat trip in Krabi

Krabi is a world-famous destination in the South of Thailand, known for its easy accessibility to nearby islands, famous landscapes, and outdoor activities. It is a small and quiet town that has a lot to offer for nature lovers and adventurers alike. Everyone can find something to like in Krabi.

The best time overall for visiting Krabi would be during the high season. The months of November through February provide the best weather overall and the best authentic feel of Krabi.

You can find plenty of activities and attractions, and even a few events like Bergfah Andaman Festival and Loy Krathong Festivities. A must not miss activity during the high season is hiring a private boat to explore the nearby islands. It is a relatively cheap and unforgettable experience. I highly recommend trying it!

Krabi Itinerary Pre-Travel Tips

Planning a trip to Krabi is relatively easy since the region is very tourist-friendly. Moreover, since Thailand is one of the cheapest countries in Asia , it’s a great destination for all kinds of travelers – whether you’re backpacking Thailand or visiting with friends or family.

However, Krabi covers quite a large area. As a consequence, there are a few things that you’ll need in place to guarantee a hassle-free Krabi vacation. Here are some travel tips and hacks to help you plan the perfect Krabi itinerary.

  • Search the  best hotels in Krabi . Krabi is quite a tourist hotspot, so rooms tend to fill up quickly. Make sure to book accommodation well in advance.  Also, expect steep prices during peak seasons.
  • If you’re traveling with lots of luggage, or not comfortable catching a bus from the airport,   booking a private transfer  is an excellent alternative.
  • Wifi is widely available at most tourist spots, restaurants, and hotels in Krabi. But if you prefer to have internet on the go, grabbing an eSIM is highly encouraged. By doing so, you’ll never have to worry about accessing maps, checking transport schedules, or planning your stops. Alternatively, pick up  pocket wifi while still in Bangkok .
  • Unfortunately, things can and do go wrong when you travel. Make sure you have travel insurance when visiting Thailand. I use SafetyWing .
  • If you aren’t comfortable navigating Krabi on your own, o r perhaps traveling in a group, this Krabi private custom tour   allows you to see all the highlights without the headache of planning out a trip.
  • While it’s great to discover all of Krabi’s best bits independently, having a travel guide handy is always a good idea. This Lonely Planet includes tons of valuable tips on traveling Thailand and was a lifesaver on my Krabi solo trip.

When to Visit Krabi, Thailand

South Thailand has two very distinctive seasons, a dry season and a wet season. The  best time to visit Krabi is during the dry season , which runs from  November  through  March . During this time, you can expect pleasant temperatures and sunny blue skies – perfect for a Krabi beach getaway.

Krabi’s off-season starts in April and runs through October . April is the hottest month in Krabi Province, and October sees the most rain during the year. Although it is possible to enjoy good weather during the wet season, frequent downpours aren’t uncommon.

How to Get to Krabi, Southern Thailand

Krabi is a vast province in Southern Thailand and includes several popular destinations stretched over land and sea. These include Krabi Town ,  Ao Nang ,  Koh Phi Phi , and  beautiful Koh Lanta , to name just a few.

Krabi International Airport is the main gateway to Krabi Province, and most likely the starting point of your Krabi itinerary. There are many daily flights from Bangkok to Krabi , as well as elsewhere in Thailand and Asia. If you haven’t booked a flight yet, Skyscanner is good place to compare airline prices and find cheap domestic or international flights. For those backpacking Thailand, this SEA transport guide includes lots of tips to help navigate your travels.

Once at the airport, it’s easy to access the rest of the province by land or sea. If you’re visiting the nearby islands or Railay Bay, you can take a ferry, speedboat, or long-tail boat to access them. Inland there is also an array of taxis, buses, tuk-tuks , and songthaews ready to transport you to all corners of Ao Nang and Krabi Town.

Joining a island hopping tour to Chicken Island is an excellent add-on to any Krabi travel itinerary.

How to Get to Your Destination From Krabi Airport

If this is your first visit to Krabi, I recommend basing yourself in Ao Nang or Railay. From here, it’s easy to explore the rest of Krabi Province and come face-to-face with some of Thailand’s best landmarks .

To get to  Ao Nang from the airport , it’s a good idea to  book a discounted transfer  in advance. Alternatively, take the  shuttle bus  (150 Baht) or order a  fixed-rate transfer  at the airport upon arrival (600 Baht).  Read my detailed guide on exactly how to get from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang for more tips.

The  fastest and easiest way to get to Railay  is to book a direct transfer with your hotel . Railay is c ompletely cut off by land, so it is slightly harder to get there . If you are traveling with lots of luggage , this will be the best way to get there. If that’s not an option, catch a long-tail boat to Railay at Ao Nang Private Boat Club  or  Ao Nam Mao Pier .

If you are headed to  Koh Lanta  or  Koh Phi Phi  directly from the airport and haven’t booked a transfer in advance, don’t worry. There are several stalls within the arrivals hall where you can quickly get this sorted out.

Taking a day trip to discover the best Islands near Krabi is a fun day out.

The Ultimate 5 Day Krabi Itinerary: The Best Things to do in Krabi

Now that you know when to visit Krabi and how to get to Krabi, it’s time to find out where to go and what to do!  Ready to discover the best things to do in Krabi? Let’s dive into this 5 days in Krabi itinerary!

Krabi Itinerary Day 1: Explore Ao Nang

On your first day in Krabi, you’ll have ample town to settle in and orientate yourself to Ao Nang town.

Ao Nang is a bustling little seaside town with plenty to entice travelers. Make sure to read my super detailed guide on top things to do in Ao Nang , as well as my guide on the best places to stay in Ao Nang on any budget.

The very first thing you’ll want to do after arriving at the airport is to catch the local airport shuttle bus (150 Thai Baht) or grab a   transfer (600 Thai Baht) to get to your accommodation in Ao Nang town stress-free. (Pre-book a  shared transfer  or a  private transfer  here).

Once you’ve settled in, it’s time to see what Ao Nang has on offer! Here are my top recommendations on what to do in Ao Nang on your first day in Krabi.

Head to the Beach

Ao Nang is blessed with an incredible laid-back vibe, a bustling nightlife scene, great food, and gorgeous beaches. While most travelers flock to  Ao Nang Beach  to enjoy the sand and sea, a short stroll further you’ll find  Nopparat Thara Beach .

Nopparat Thara is a great beach to chill for a few hours and the ideal spot if you want to get away from the crowds. The main road is lined with lots of cute beach bars and restaurants. So, if the heat gets too much for you or if you simply want to enjoy an ice-cold beer with a view, the options are endless!

Tranquil beach setting

Take a Sunset Cruise

Another fun thing to do in Ao Nang is to join a sunset cruise . It’s a great way to see Krabi’s spectacular coastline and scenery from the water while you sail past several of Krabi’s most famous islands. The best part? You can jump off the boat and discover the diverse underwater world along the way.

Snack Your Way Through the Night Market

After watching the epic sunset, it’s time to head to the Ao Nang Night Market to feast on incredible treats. While Ao Nang’s food market isn’t nearly as big as the  night market in Krabi Town , it is one of the most popular night markets in Krabi and should not be overlooked.

Ao Nang Night Market boasts a great selection of food, and you’ll find many vendors selling tasty Thai street food like pad Thai, Thai pancakes, sticky mango rice, fresh seafood, and all kinds of kebabs.

Ao Nang Night Market

Krabi Itinerary Day 2: Go Island Hopping

Krabi is blessed with 80 marvelous islands near its shores and, consequently, quite a hotspot for island hopping. That said, there are a few Krabi islands that you definitely shouldn’t miss on your Krabi 5 days itinerary.

While it’s possible to rent a long-tail boat for a day to explore Krabi at your leisure, the easiest way to discover Krabi’s gems are on an organized tour. Make sure also to read my detailed guide on the best islands near Krabi for more tips on which islands not to miss.

Hopping in a long-tail boat to explore the dreamy islands near Krabi's coastline should not be missed.

Krabi 4 Islands Tour

You can’t visit Krabi without adding an island hopping tour to your 5 day Krabi itinerary !

The  Krabi 4 Islands tour  is the perfect opportunity to see some of Thailand’s most dreamy islands. The tour stops at four islands, namely Phra Nang Cave, Koh Tup, Koh Poda and Chicken Island. It’s a fun day trip to take, and there are lots of opportunities to snorkel, swim, or lie under a coconut tree.

Taking this full day tour is a great way to see the best of the best and will allow you to maximize your time in Krabi.

Taking a Krabi 4 island day tour is a highlight on any 5 days in Krabi itinerary.

Hong Island Tour

Another excellent day tour, I highly recommend, is  spending a day at Hong Island . Besides the exquisite beaches, Hong Island boasts crystal clear turquoise water full of marine life. The best part, you don’t need to go very deep to see all kids of bright-colored fish dashing past you.

After you’ve explored the treasures below, make sure to take a hike through the island’s thick jungle or rent a kayak to explore the dreamy turquoise lagoon.

Exploring Krabi's diverse and tranquil coastline.

Krabi Itinerary Day 3: Explore Railay Beach

When spending time in Krabi, a visit to Railay Beach is a huge must! Revered for its gorgeous beaches, stunning craggy cliffs, countless adventure-filled activities, and chilled out vibes, Railay is the perfect add-on to any Krabi itinerary. It’s also the perfect spot to experience outdoor adventures in Thailand !

What really sets Railay Beach apart from other gems in Krabi is its location. Since Railay is completely cut-off by land access, you’ll need to catch a long-tail boat to get here. Luckily, Railay is only a 10-minute long-tail boat ride from Ao Nang, making it easy to access.

While Railay is relatively small, there’s also plenty to do and see. From rock climbing and kayaking to hiking, swimming in a secret lagoon and much more! Read my super detailed guide on the most unmissable things to do in Railay for more tips.

Railay Beach packs the perfect mix of outdoor fun, pristine beaches, and epic sunsets.

Krabi Itinerary Day 4: Head out to Koh Phi Phi

If you have 4 days in Krabi, you’ll have ample time to visit the dreamy Phi Phi islands . The islands are stunning and possibly the most beautiful islands in Asia !

If you just want to take it easy, head straight to the beach to enjoy the sand and sea. Many shops sell or rent snorkel gear, so it’s easy to explore the warm waters at your leisure. Afterward, kick back at one of the cute beach bars with a boozy cocktail as you wait for the epic sunset.

More adventurous travelers shouldn’t miss the chance to catch the epic sunset from the Phi Phi Viewpoint. It’s a short hike taking no longer than 30 minutes, but prepare to break a sweat. Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded panoramic views over the islands, sea, and cliffs. It’s truly magical!

While it is possible to take a  day trip to Koh Phi Phi by speedboat , I suggest staying overnight or even longer if your Krabi itinerary is flexible.  By doing so, you can easily squeeze in a visit to the world-renowned Maya Bay, which was made famous by the movie “The Beach.” After being closed for several years for coral rehabilitation, Maya Bay opened back up to tourists in 2022. You can only visit on an  organized tour  now, and even though you can’t swim there anymore, it truly is one of the most beautiful places you’ll ever see in your life!

pileh lagoon Koh Phi Phi

Travel T ip:  If you’re visiting Koh Phi Phi during peak season, make sure to book accommodations well in advance. Koh Phi Phi is a popular destination, so hotels fill up rather quickly. I suggest staying somewhere central as some parts of the island is only accessible by a long-tail boat. The  Phi Phi Holiday Resort  is a great mid-range option, while  Phi Phi Coco Beach Resort   is an excellent choice if you’re looking for an upscale secluded stay.

Krabi Itinerary Day 5: Unwind and Soak up the Vibes

On the last day of your Krabi 5 day itinerary, reward yourself for getting through Krabi’s top attractions on this Krabi itinerary! Here are my recommendations on what to do in Krabi on day 5.

Join a Cooking Class

Start your morning by learning the ins and outs of Thai cooking!

Joining a cooking class in Krabi is a massive must while visiting Thailand, and also a fun way to master a new skill. During the cooking class, you’ll prepare seven local dishes of your choice and get lots of tips to take back home with you.  You’ll be surprised how easy it is to make Thai food, but don’t let that fool you, you’ll work up quite an appetite during this 3-hour cooking class !

Master the ins and outs of Thai cuisine by going a fun cooking class.

Soak in a Hot Spring

A great way to get away from the crowds is to head out to  Wareerak Hot Spring . Located near the Khao Phra Bang Khram Nature Reserve, this is the perfect place to spend your last day in Krabi. The springs are surrounded by lush jungle, making it an excellent place for nature seekers.

After a soak in the steamy pools, make sure to drop by the dreamy  Emerald Pool a bit further afield. It’s a short trek, and you’ll pass by gentle streams, waterfalls, and tropical plant life along the way.  If you still have energy, climb the 1,237 steps to the top of Tiger Cave Temple , where you’ll be rewarded with a bird’s-eye view over the Krabi basin.

Stopping by the Emerald Pool to explore Krabi's lush interior is a must-do on any Krabi itinerary.

Get a Thai Massage

No visit to Krabi, or Thailand, would be complete without experiencing a Thai massage.

Massage parlors are practically on every corner, so it’s really easy to find one. If you’re looking for something a bit more upscale, I suggest spending the afternoon at  Boossabakorn Spa  for a full pamper session.

What to Wear in Krabi: Krabi Packing List

Since the weather in Krabi is mostly hot and humid, it’s best to pack light, breathable clothes. Besides the usual beachwear like swimwear, t-shirts, shorts, light dresses, and skirts, it’s a good idea also to pack flip-flops, sunglasses, and a hat.

Here are a few more essentials to add to your Krabi packing list:

  • You’ll probably need a travel adapter for your visit to Krabi and the rest of Thailand.  This world travel adapter  is lightweight and covers more than 160 countries.
  • Since you’ll probably be spending lots of time near the water, keep your phone and belongings safe from getting wet. Make sure to grab  this waterproof cellphone case  and  this handy dry bag  to enjoy a stress-free Krabi itinerary.
  • You won’t have trouble finding sunscreen in Krabi, but since most of them aren’t always eco-friendly, it’s a good idea to bring your own.  This reef-safe sunscreen  doesn’t contain a whitening agent, and its the perfect choice for eco-friendly or vegan travelers.
  • Mosquitoes aren’t uncommon in Krabi, so make sure to pack DEET-free bug spray .
  • Make sure you pack a lightweight microfibre towel, like this Turkish beach towel that will dry quickly and won’t weigh you down.
  • The weather in Krabi can be somewhat unpredictable, especially during the wet season. Pack a  lightweight travel umbrella  that won’t weigh you down.
  • Don’t forget your camera! I never travel without my  Olympus Mirrorless Camera , but if you prefer something more lightweight, bring a GoPro Hero . Just a heads-up — most of the islands near Krabi do not allow the use of drones . Make sure you do proper research before flying a drone in Thailand.

Thailand boasts paradise beach settings lined with towering palm trees.

5 Days Krabi Itinerary Conclusion

Whether you have 3 days in Krabi or planning to spend 5 days or more here, Krabi is an excellent add-on to any Thailand itinerary. Although these are just a handful of the top attractions in Krabi, I hope this guide will come in handy when planning your Krabi itinerary.

Picture of Yen Ang

  • Last Updated: January 17, 2024

If you’re planning a trip to Thailand, be sure to consider this awesome three days in Krabi itinerary.

Krabi is a coastal town located on the west coast of Thailand that is surrounded by craggy limestone hills and pristine islands. It has a spot on the bucket list of countless travellers.

Vibrant bustling streets in Ao Nang Beach and the gorgeous view of Railay Beach, dining by the river in Chao Fah Night Market, dipping in Emerald Pool, panoramic view of Krabi city – it’s not exaggerating to say that Krabi truly has something for everyone .

Did I mention the Krabi island hopping tours? There are plenty of those to go around!

Table of Contents

Hiking in Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint

Shell cemetery (susan hoi), pay a visit to wat kaew korawaram, sunset & nightlife in ao nang beach, walking along the pier, go for an island-hopping tour, have a drink in a bar in krabi town, hiking in wat tham sua or tiger cave temple , ride to emerald pool in krabi, dip into klong thom hot springs in krabi, dinner in chao fah night market, best time to visit krabi, getting to krabi, thailand, getting around in krabi, where to stay in krabi – baan to guesthouse , wrapping up your krabi itinerary, the perfect 3 days in krabi itinerary for every traveller.

If you’re planning a trip to Krabi, Thailand, here is the perfect 3 days in Krabi itinerary to ease up your travel planning!

We’ll include island tours in the Andaman Sea, the famous Railay Beach, Krabi night market, hikes through the jungle, views over the stunning Krabi province, and more. There is so much to do when you visit Krabi town and the surrounding areas!

Ma Tang Ming Island In Krabi

Day 1 – Hikes and Nightlife

Let’s get the first morning of your Krabi itinerary started with some hiking. You’ll end the day exploring Ao Nang, a vibrant town for nightlife.

What’s a better way to start your trip in a new city than enjoying the panoramic view over the surrounding wilderness after an exhausting hike?

Everyone has their way of fighting the fatigue of flying. In my case, I always prefer hiking, which guarantees a good night’s sleep at the end of the day.

The hike to Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint is not a difficult one, but it does take some time – around 2-3 hours for a return trip.

And the next stop on our Krabi itinerary is on the way back from Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint, so plan for a long day out.

There are plenty of free motorcycle parking lots at the entrance in front of the luxurious resorts. Don’t ride past the gate, if not, you’ll be charged a parking fee for a distance of 5 minutes’ walk.

There is no entrance fee to this hike, but the ranger at the counter will repeatedly remind you to tip them before and after you do the hike.

The Surreal View Of Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint Over The Vast Rainforest In Krabi.

Like other hikes, there are steep and plain parts on the trail. For some steeper parts, they’ve built staircases to make your hike easier.

It’s all dirt trail on the hike, and wearing a sandal is no doubt a bad idea. The dense jungle blocks off any winds that could be cooling you off, so make sure you bring plenty of water to hydrate yourself!

When you’re approaching the peak, there are signboards pointing to a waterfall and a lake. You may want to avoid these as they are not all that attractive.

At the peak, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view at a few hundred meters above sea level. Just make sure you don’t stand on the dangerous cliffs barred off from visitors.

Never risk your life for a photo, just enjoy the view from the vantage point.

If you have the time, stop at Tubkaek Beach , located right just after leaving Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint. This is a very quiet, long beach with amazing views on the limestone hills budding from the sea surface in distance.

The Krabi Shell Cemetery is located 17 kilometres from Krabi town centre, which makes a great detour on your way back from the Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint. That’s if you’re staying in Krabi town.

The road leading to the entrance of Susan Hoi is intercepted at the main road connecting Ao Nang Beach and Krabi Town.

With the shell fossils dating back to 25-40 million years, it’s a great place for those who’re interested. But if you’re not into these things, you’ll probably want to pass on this attraction and head straight back into Krabi town.

The entrance fee to Susan Hoi is 200 Baht per entry.

On your way to the next point, don’t forget to grab some snacks or drinks from the Family Mart or 7-Eleven. They’re spread out across the town like mushrooms, you find them literally everywhere.

Wat Kaew Korawaram is absolutely the most elegant temple in Krabi. Located right inside Krabi town centre, the temple is easily accessible to visitors staying near the pier.

The staircases leading to the temple from the main road are decorated with naga sculptures, giving it a classic Thailand Buddhist temple appearance.

Upon reaching the temple, you’ll notice several dozens of information boards depicting the stories of Buddha – the birth of Buddha, how Buddha achieved enlightenment , and more.

The only downside is that some of the details and explanations are in the Thai language only.

While you’re there, take a moment and appreciate the architecture of the majestic temple. The entrance to Wat Kaew Korawaram is free of charge!

Wat Kaew Korawaram

Now we’re talking about one of the most popular beaches in Thailand – Ao Nang Beach. This well-trodden beach is often the spot to be for sunset views.

And despite the crowds, there’s no reason to miss Ao Nang on your Krabi itinerary.

On your way to Ao Nang Beach, you’ll pass by dozens of vibrant stores before reaching the parking lot.

While the beach is always filled during evening hours, it’s totally possible to find a spot for yourself on the massive stretch of beach.

Head into the bustling streets and alleys of Ao Nang when the sun goes down as this is when the nightlife begins.

Hundreds of restaurants serve cuisines from all around the world on the wide budget range. Need cheap eats? Head over to the night market.

Bars, pubs, and souvenir stores are spread throughout Ao Nang, so you’ll surely enjoy your night there!

Ao Nang Beach!

Day 2 – Island Hopping

After a fun night in Ao Nang, get ready for an epic day. Your second day in your Krabi itinerary will be an unforgettable one.

Today, we’re going island-hopping! You’ll get to see some gorgeous islands, and even pay a visit to the infamous Railay Beach.

Walking along the Krabi pier is a great way to start your day. Facing east, you could catch the sunrise from the mangrove forest on the opposite side.

The famous crab sculptures and several decorations were placed along the pier and every morning, it welcomes dozens of morning runners.

On your way back to your hotel, grab a sandwich from the Family Mart nearby or quickly stop at a cafe or restaurant of your choice in the area.

It’s going to be a busy day so load up on coffee and grab that bite to eat and let’s get started!

The Famous Crab Sculptures In Krabi.

A trip to Krabi wouldn’t be complete without an island-hopping tour. This very coast is surrounded by dozens of breathtaking uninhabited islands, crystal-clear waters and limestone hills.

It’s extremely easy to book a tour in Krabi. The easiest way would be booking with your accommodation manager, who usually has some discounts.

Most tours you will find will either be for 4 islands or 7 islands.

While I was staying in Baan To Guesthouse in Krabi, I went on the 7 Islands Sunset Tour for 900 Baht (discounted from 1,500 Baht).

There are also different tours like the 4 Islands Tour (which is more well-known to visitors), kayaking tours, rainforest discovery tour, and more.

There is honestly not much difference between the 7 Islands and 4 Islands tours.

BONUS –  Booking ahead of time ensures you won’t miss out on the tour, and get the best price too! And just for NOMADasaurus readers, if you use the Klook discount code  “NOMADS10”  on the website when checking out, you’ll get $10 off your first booking!

Both are going to provide you with a full-day tour. The 4 islands tours will allow you to spend more time on each island. But you get to see more on the 7 islands tour.

It’s all up to you whether you want to spend more time racing around between the different islands or relaxing on the beach!

For the 7 Islands Sunset Tour you can expect an itinerary similar to this:

The tuk-tuk will pick you up at 12 pm and bring you to Ao Nam Mao Pier. There, you will register yourself and collect the snorkelling mask.

Snorkeling With The Fish In Chicken Island.

You’ll then be directed onboard the longtail boat to start your day.

Throughout the day you will be visiting Tup Island, Thap Island, Chicken Island, Poda Island, Ma Tang Ming Island, Si Island, Phra Nang Beach, and Railay Beach (which technically isn’t an island).

You will get to walk between Tup Island and Thap Island , which is connected by the shallow beach on foot. You’ll also get to snorkel with the fish near Chicken Island , chill on Poda Island , visit Phra Nang Cave Beach and finally feast on a buffet dinner while watching the sunset in Railay Beach .

Railay Beach is one of Thailand’s most famous. Framed by limestone cliffs and dense jungle, Railay Beach is popular among rock climbers and photographers.

For some tours on your Krabi itinerary, you may also get to go night snorkelling to see the phytoplankton before heading back for the fire show at the pier at around 8 pm.

Sounds cool, right!? Book a 4-Island tour here!

An alternative option is booking a day tour to Koh Phi Phi . Koh Phi Phi is a great day trip, as it includes all the highlights like Viking Cave, Monkey Beach, and Maya Bay.

We would recommend spending a few days in Koh Phi Phi and taking your time seeing Maya Bay and the Koh Phi Phi town center.

But if you’re short on time and you’d rather visit Koh Phi Phi as a day trip from Krabi, you can do that. Any Krabi island hopping trip should include Koh Phi Phi for sure!

The View You Get From Tup Island, Surrounded By Nothing But Pristine Beaches And Crystal-Clear Seawater. Well, And Boats And Other Visitors, Of Course.

After returning back to the Krabi province after a busy day exploring the islands you will find the nightlife is starting to pick up.

Krabi is home to countless bars, swarmed by foreign visitors every night to spend the last few hours of the day. If you’re staying in Ao Nang Beach, then, of course, you should spend the night there.

I never visited all of the bars in Krabi Town, but there’s one particular bar that I highly recommend – Booze Bar . The staff are friendly and they have live music and lovely vibes, all you could ask for in a perfect bar.

Day 3 – Caves and the Emerald Pool

Most of the accommodations in Krabi do include breakfast in your stay, but if they don’t, they probably have a café to fill your morning tummy.

Today, we’re gonna rent a motorcycle to have fun around the outskirts of Krabi. If it’s not your thing, it’s pretty easy to get a tuk-tuk in Krabi to get to wherever you want!

You can also save a bunch of time by booking today’s activities as part of an all-inclusive tour ! Perfect if you’d rather not run the risk of riding a motorcycle without insurance or a license when you visit Krabi.

You might want to know that this is way more physically demanding compared to Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint.

I’m not trying to scare you. But trust me, you’ll be thanking yourself after reaching the top, enjoying the magnificent view of the temple sitting upon the ragged limestone hill.

At the base, there are several attractions like an artificial waterfall, cafeteria, and temples.

But the main attraction lies on the top connected by the 1,200-step staircases (Note: due to its physical demand this is not for all travellers.)

Visiting in the morning is a better idea as the weather is usually cooler and the sunlight isn’t as harsh as the scorching tropical sun in the afternoon.

It takes around 20-40 minutes to get to the temple on top.

If you’re worried about dehydration, bring a water bottle with you. But note that there is a water station at the temple on top to refill your bottle.

You’ll have to take off your shoes to visit around the temple, and you could easily spend 30 minutes up there on the view alone.

Also, be extra careful of the aggressive monkeys. Don’t touch them, and don’t go near a mom with babies. And definitely don’t feed them.

Limestone Views Krabi

Over the years, Emerald Pool has become one of the must-visits in Krabi for no other reasons than it’s simply wonderful. Minerals in the water make the colour absolutely spectacular!

Located inside Thung Teao Forest Natural Park , there are several hiking trails surrounding the emerald pool too. But for now, let’s go straight for the pool.

Due to the tourist crowds, it’s wiser to pay this attraction a visit in the morning. So, it’s all up to you if you want to interchange this with Tiger Cave Temple.

With an entrance fee of 200 Baht, you are allowed to soak yourself in the crystal pond for as long as you want. The entrance closes at 4.30 pm.

Next up, Klong Thom Hot Springs is located near Emerald Pool, so I highly recommend you arrange both of these attractions on the same day on your Krabi itinerary.

The hot spring itself is extremely small and difficult to accommodate the number of visitors daily.

So, the authorities have decided to build an artificial pool near the hot spring and drain part of the water there for more people to enjoy.

The artificial pool is located before the authentic hot spring. So, if you’re visiting in the non-peak hours you could possibly enjoy the hot springs surrounded by gigantic tree roots.

It’s advised that you shouldn’t soak yourself in the hot springs for more than 20 minutes at a time.

The entrance fee to Klong Thom Hot Springs is 160 Baht, plus 10 Baht for your motorbike parking.

Chao Fah Night Market is one of the most enjoyable night markets in all of Thailand. Hundreds of tables and chairs are arranged by the pier, fenced by dozens of hawker stalls.

You can go over all the menus of every stall, but you won’t notice much difference other than the design. Choose the one you like, and order whatever you want, and they’ll arrange a seat for you.

There are milkshake stalls there, which I recommend. (Krabi has much better milkshakes compared to Phi Phi Islands and Phuket, honestly.)

The highlights here are, of course, seafood, since Krabi is a coastal town. And they’re surprisingly affordable here too. You can get a big plate of clams for under 200 Baht!

You could also choose to attend the Blue Dragon Cabaret show , which is one of the more popular and most famous attractions in all of Thailand.

There are other Ladyboy shows throughout Thailand but this is worth a watch on the last of your 3 days in Krabi itinerary.

Krabi Thailand City Guide

Now that you have a pretty good idea about what you’re going to do with your 3 days in Krabi itinerary, let’s help you travel to and around Krabi and find the best accommodation and food!

The best time to visit Krabi and the rest of Southern Thailand is generally during the dry season, which spans from November to April.

During these months, Krabi experiences pleasant weather with clear skies, warm temperatures, and lower humidity. Travel guides would recommend these months for exploring the region’s renowned limestone cliffs, pristine beaches, and vibrant marine life.

While the peak tourist season occurs from December to February, offering optimal conditions for various outdoor activities like rock climbing, island hopping, and snorkeling, visitors can still enjoy nice weather in the shoulder months of November and April.

However, you should always check the local weather and be mindful of potential variations in weather patterns, as occasional brief rain showers can occur even during the dry season.

If Krabi is your first destination in Thailand, then there’s good news – there is an international airport in Krabi.

Inside the Krabi Airport, you’ll have to choose between taking the shared van or private transfer to your accommodation.

In my case, I took the shared van, which is surprisingly comfortable with leather seats and a well-air-conditioned interior.

It took around 30 minutes to reach our hostel, and yes, they drop you right at the doorstep. The price? Only 90 Baht!

In some cases where you’re travelling in Phuket first, then consider taking the shared van from the bus terminals to Krabi. There are two bus terminals in Phuket.

It takes 3 hours to reach Krabi by bus. The only downside is that the bus terminal is rather far from most accommodations.

You might need a cab to get to your hotel, or you could walk, which I did! The shared van costs 140 Baht.

What if you’re staying in Ao Nang? Well, it’s pretty similar.

From the airport, catch the shared van to Ao Nang, which costs slightly more at 110 Baht. From Phuket, just tell the receptionist that you’re going to Ao Nang. It’s pretty straightforward as Ao Nang and Krabi are so close.

For travellers, the most popular place to stay would be near the Chao Fah Park Pier. There are plenty of shops, marts, hostels, and hotels – and of course, night markets.

Since there are not that many attractions inside Krabi Town, renting a motorcycle is the easiest way to visit the nearest attractions like the Emerald Pool, Ao Nang, Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint, and more.

Renting a motorcycle when you visit Krabi is almost effortless and is reasonably priced at around 200-250 Baht per day.

This price excludes petrol, which is pretty cheap as well. Chances are, you can rent a motorcycle from your hotel or hostel.

If a motorcycle is not your thing, then your options would be either private cabs, tours or GrabCar.

Tours are pretty common when you visit Krabi due to its popularity among Chinese, Russian and Korean tourists. So booking a tour is trouble-free.

Baan To Guesthouse definitely has one of the most strategic locations for those who visit Krabi. Within a 5-minutes’ walk, you’ll get to Chao Fah Night Market, the pier, and plenty of amazing cafes and restaurants, like 89 Café .

I highly recommend this café, even though it’s a little pricey, the foods are top-notch and will never disappoint you.

They have one of the cheapest prices for double rooms in Krabi, and the on-site restaurant is perfect for breakfast. The host was extremely friendly as well, and we gladly rented her motorcycle for 250 Baht per day.

The rooms were basic, a little bit warm, so I suggest getting an air-conditioned room.

I hope you enjoyed reading this 3 days Krabi itinerary. Krabi Thailand is a wonderland for those who love nightlife. But it’s also perfect for those who enjoy travelling at a slower pace.

In short, Krabi Thailand has something for everyone. Three days in Krabi are enough for most people to take in the essential attractions.

But if you’re opting to stay longer, Krabi is a great spot to sit back and relax!

Is Krabi Worth Visiting? 10 Reasons to Visit Krabi in 2024

Is Krabi Worth Visiting? 10 Reasons to Visit Krabi in 2024

Written by Josh Band

Posted, 19th October 2023

Find yourself asking the question “Is Krabi worth visiting?”

Don’t worry- thousands and thousands of people ask this question every year, and we’ve created a guide with the best reasons to visit Krabi.

Krabi is an incredible province in the west of Thailand which draws in millions of travellers every year looking for unique experiences and many people are left asking the question, “Is Krabi worth visiting?”.

The area is infamous for its white sand beaches and huge and unique rock structures. Krabi is full of luscious jungles and mangroves and the entire area is very much what travel brochures like to promote about Thailand.

Considering whether an area is worth visiting comes down to many factors as no one wants to waste their time or money on a place that they might not enjoy.

We run guided Thailand group tours so we consider ourselves experts in all things Thailand , and this article will give you the answer to “Is Krabi worth visiting?”.

So let’s get on with it!

Is Krabi Worth Visiting?

In a simple answer, yes ! Krabi is absolutely worth visiting . The area is so full of life both naturally and socially and it should definitely be on your Thailand itinerary.

We include it in all of our Thailand group tours for a reason 😉.

Krabi is one of the most visited parts of Thailand and it is clear to see why that is! It’s the part of Thailand with both the most incredible beaches and the best national parks.

It’s also the perfect place to start island hopping with infamous islands nearby like Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta. The port is always busy with ferries going to and from the islands making it easy to move on.

Quick ferry rides will find you in perfect spots for swimming and snorkelling, and white sand beaches for enjoying the sunshine and warm weather.

And Krabi Town – Krabi is actually a province in Thailand, not just a town like many people think – is a centre of culture with a huge list of temples to explore and admire.

For those that like to party, Krabi Town also has some of Thailand’s most thriving nightlife spots and it is relatively cheap too!

All in all, the answer to “ Is Krabi worth visiting? ” is a definite yes , and we’ll now tell you exactly why in our top reasons to visit Krabi.

Reasons to visit Krabi

Of course, there are endless reasons to visit Krabi and it would be impossible to list all of them. So we’ve narrowed it down to our 10 favourite things about Krabi, and after reading these, you will understand why we answer “yes” to “ Is Krabi worth visiting? “.

1. Gorgeous Beaches

Krabi is most well-known for its beautiful coastline and beaches. The white sand and crystal clear water come together to make the beaches in Krabi truly like paradise .

Railay Beach is the most popular of the beaches in Krabi, and many consider it the prettiest. It’s split into 3 sections meaning Railay Beach has space for all sorts of activities.

Railay Beach West is popular for watching the sunset and swimming while being surrounded by the famous limestone cliffs whereas the east end is popular amongst those more adventurous as it is the perfect spot for rock climbing.

Diving in Thailand is a must, and Krabi is the perfect part of the country to do so. The coastline has some incredible reefs and bays to explore, and there are endless diving opportunities .

The limestone rocks and cliffs have created the perfect environment for many different species of fish and marine life- yes, you can see turtles .

With a warm, all-year climate, Krabi is perfect for diving all year round. You are guaranteed an unforgettable experience in Krabi, no doubt about it.

It’s also a great place to get your PADI certificate , as you can get it for a fraction of the price compared to other countries.

3. Tiger Cave Temple

Tiger Cave Temple is a luxurious Buddhist temple found hidden among the jungle in Krabi. The temple is decorated with intricate religious figures and brightly coloured statues.

Tiger Cave Temple is the perfect spot for relaxation and reflection, regardless of whether or not you are religious.

Many people consider it to be one of the most impressive and exclusive temples in all of Thailand as the temple rests atop a tower of limestone rock and is only accessible by visitors willing to climb over 1,200 steps.

But rest assured, the climb gives an incredible view of the Krabi region.

An aerial view of Tiger Cave Temple.

4. Panoramic Views

Tiger Cave Temple isn’t the only place in Krabi with a wonderful view. There are countless locations across Krabi where you can find stunning panoramic views.

The most stunning viewpoints are the ones located on the Phi Phi Islands. To remind you, Krabi is a province of Thailand (kind of like States in America or Counties in the UK) and the Phi Phi Islands are a group of islands in the province of Krabi.

The views from the top of the Phi Phi Islands are amazing and well worth the climbs. It’s like looking into Pandora from Avatar but in real life. The views are hard to believe!

We love the Phi Phi Islands, and they’re a key stop on our Thailand island hopping tours .

5. Island Hopping

Island hopping is one of the most popular things to do when visiting the Krabi region and one of the main reasons that people visit.

The most popular are the Phi Phi Islands. These islands are just a short ferry ride from Krabi Town and draw in many travellers every year.

The vibrant coral reefs are one of the main attractions, perfect for snorkelling and Maya Bay is a popular Instagram spot due to its Leonardo di Caprio feature.

Hong Island is another popular island destination with hidden lagoons and turquoise waters that are so dream-worthy. It’s also a great spot for kayaking and other water activities.

6. Hot Springs

If all of the talk about stunning beaches wasn’t enough to persuade you that Krabi is worth visiting then maybe the hot springs will be.

Krabi has some wonderful hot spring locations – perfect for a period of relaxation on your trip. The most-visited hot spring park is the Emerald Pool in Khlong Thom Nuea.

The Emerald Pool has extremely mineral-rich water which is believed to have therapeutic properties that can soothe muscles and promote relaxation.

Krabi is essentially one huge spa retreat. Clear your mind at Tiger Cave Temple then allow your body to unwind in the hot springs!

7. Waterfalls

Krabi is pretty much a nature lover’s heaven , as it’s also home to an impressive amount of beautiful waterfalls.

The region has lots of natural parks which contain the majority of the hundreds of waterfalls in this area of Thailand. Many waterfalls are popular in Krabi, but Huay To has had a huge rise in numbers over recent years due to social media.

Huay To is known for its stepped formation, travelling through the rainforest in many tiers. Than Bok Khorani National Park is another popular location.

The Than Bok Khorani waterfall is a stunning example of Krabi’s natural beauty. You can also swim in the waterfall’s pool at the bottom which is pretty epic!

A picture of a stepped waterfall. Is Krabi worth visting? Yes, the natural beauty is amazing.

8. Night Market

The best place to head in the evening while in Krabi Town is the Krabi Town Night Market. It’s the heart of Krabi and keeps the city beating.

The market is always busy with locals and tourists, all on a mission to immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere.

Whether you’re looking for food, clothing, souvenirs or handmade crafts, you’ll find it all at Krabi Town Night Market. There is, quite literally, everything you could possibly think of.

The huge range of street food available is the perfect chance to try some local delicacies and get a taste of Thailand. It’s also a great place to meet new people if you travel Thailand solo .

A picture of two girls eating street food in a night market.

9. Opportunities to get active

As we said earlier, there are lots of ways to get active in Krabi. Whether you’re interested in water sports or are more comfortable on the gold old dry land, you’ll find something you’ll love in Krabi.

Kayaking in Mangrove Forest is one of the top-rated locations for the sport and the views from the water are incredible. A kayaking excursion is a great way to get a glimpse of hidden parts of Krabi and get a unique perspective of the region.

Rock climbing is an equally popular activity. Railay Beach has some incredible cliffs worth climbing and the views are well worth your energy. Rock climbing at Railay is relatively inexpensive and so is a perfect way to spend your time if you’d rather not lounge at the beach.

A picture of a man rock climbing at Railay Beach.

10. It’s Affordable

One of the top reasons that Krabi is worth visiting is due to it being inexpensive- which is why it’s on our ultimate Thailand backpacking route .

Krabi has a huge range of accommodation options and activities that will suit very low-budget travellers. There are lots of hostel options to choose from.

Meals can be made a lot cheaper by eating from local markets and street food stalls while transportation costs can be exceptionally low when you choose to rent scooters or take tuk-tuks.

Watch out for scammers who might try to take advantage of you and make sure you are always clear on prices before committing to paying for things - this will save you from any heated disagreements caused by simple misunderstandings.

Watch out for scammers who might try to take advantage of you and make sure you are always clear on prices before committing to paying for things – this will save you from any heated disagreements caused by simple misunderstandings.

It’s the perfect place for anyone on any budget. It’s great that somewhere as magical as Krabi can be visited on a luxurious budget but also on a shoestring.

Due to the unusual landscape of the beach, it has been dubbed the Fossil Beach. The Susan Hoi site is found within the Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park and captivates people worldwide who know about its existence. There are said to be only two other places like it in the whole world! The fossils date back to forty million years ago, making this one of the most outstanding places to add onto our three-day itinerary in Krabi.

Susan Hoi, Krabi

Susan Hoi once used to be a thriving large freshwater swamp, hosting an immense amount of creatures and critters within its banks and surrounding vegetation. Once the swamp dried out, the layers of shells that were left behind created huge rock slabs. These rock slabs are now humorously called “shelly limestone,” and they rest on layers of lignite .

The unique beauty of one of the most gorgeous Krabi landmarks is unforgetable and will surely have you thinking about what life on earth could have been like 40 million years ago.

Krabi Night Market

The inhabitants of this island are natives, and they live in a way that has not been tainted by the west, maintaining their roots and keeping to the ways of the old.

The name Koh Klang means “middle island,” and it has been given this name because it is between two wide estuaries. On the east, you will find the Krabi River, where it will take you a short five-minute ferry ride to get back to Krabi.

Koh Klang, Krabi

Most tourists don’t go to Koh Klang. This is because it is native land and does not offer a lot in the way of mainstream tourism with no major attractions or must-see sites. The only exciting sightseeing wise will be of some amazing rural landscapes. However, it does offer something that other places in Krabi may not- an authentic looking glass into the ways of the ancient Thai natives.

Mu Ko Lanta National Park, Krabi

Taking a turn for the unusual, you may also come across nomadic sea gypsies called the Chao Le that live in the forests and islands of the national park. They are said to set boats adrift during the full moon of June and November, as it is a tradition of theirs to draw in good luck.

Mainly what you’ll find during your great adventure at Mu Ko Lanta National Park is outstanding and private white sand beaches, jaw-dropping viewpoints, hidden walking trails, and some incredibly impressive ancient caves.

Insider Tip: Like at the National Mosque, dress conservatively to skip the queues for robes.

The province of Krabi is renowned for being a safe place for both extensive and short visits. The locals are incredibly friendly, and most travelers don’t experience any kind of threats or mishap during their stay. With this in mind, we would still love to cover some safety tips in our Krabi itinerary to make sure that everything goes smoothly during your island adventure!

Pickpockets are all over the world, and Krabi is no exception. Be sure to watch your belongings and don’t let strangers get too friendly with you out of the blue. This should not be a major issue, but it is something to remember and stay cautious of.

Of course, behave sensibly when partying and when walking about at night. Keep friends and travel companions close when going places on foot at night, and stay away from suspicious alleyways.

Although crime happens everywhere, the main danger in Krabi doesn’t come from the people, but more from mother nature herself. Beach safety is something to be aware of, as the ocean can become rough during the monsoon season from May to October.

Otherwise, rip tides aren’t lethal but are better to be avoided. Remember to also be careful of mooring boats! Thankfully, Krabi’s marine life species aren’t poisonous, so there are no threats from the creatures of the sea.

Is Thailand in July a good idea? Here’s what to consider

Visiting Thailand in July can be a good or bad idea depending on what you want to get out of your trip. July falls within the country’s low season, so you can expect to find fewer tourists and lower prices for flights, accommodation, and tours. However, the weather during this time can be quite hot and humid, and there is an increased likelihood of rain.

If you are comfortable with the heat and humidity and prepared for the possibility of rain, traveling to Thailand in July can be a great way to avoid crowds and save money. There are still plenty of things to see and do, including exploring cultural and historical sites, visiting national parks and waterfalls, and relaxing on beaches. However, if you don’t enjoy hot and humid weather or you prefer to travel during the high season when the weather is drier and cooler, then July may not be the best time for you to visit Thailand.

Overall, whether or not you should visit Thailand in July depends on your personal preferences, priorities, and travel style. It is always a good idea to conduct thorough research and plan ahead to ensure that you have the best possible trip, regardless of when you choose to visit.

Table of Contents

Best places to visit in Thailand in July

Thailand has many places to visit in July, despite being a low season for tourism. Here are some of the top places you might want to consider.

Thailand’s capital city is always worth a visit and belongs on everyone’s Thailand bucket list . In July, you can explore its many temples, markets, and museums without dealing with as many crowds as during the high season.

2. Chiang Mai

This northern city is known for its vibrant cultural scene, including traditional markets and some of the best temples in Thailand . July is a great time to visit to experience the city’s unique Lanna culture and explore its natural surroundings, including national parks and waterfalls.

Despite being a popular beach destination, Phuket is less crowded in July and offers visitors the chance to relax on its beautiful beaches, take boat trips to nearby islands, and explore the local markets and cultural sites. Bangla Road is located in Patong, which is a beach town on the island of Phuket. Bangla Road is a famous street in Patong that is known for its nightlife, including bars, nightclubs, and entertainment shows. While Bangla Road can be a lively and exciting place to visit in the evening, it’s worth noting that it can also be quite crowded and chaotic, especially during the high season. In July, however, you may find that the crowds are more manageable, and you can enjoy the street’s entertainment and nightlife at a more relaxed pace.

If you enjoy nightlife and entertainment, the things Thailand is famous for , then Bangla Road is definitely worth a visit. Just keep in mind that it may not be suitable for all travelers, and it’s important to exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings, especially if you are traveling alone or at night.

Located on Thailand’s southern coast, Krabi is known for its stunning natural beauty, including limestone cliffs and white sand beaches. July is a good time to visit Krabi to take advantage of its low-season prices, and you can also enjoy activities such as kayaking, rock climbing, and island hopping.

5. Khao Yai National Park

This park, located northeast of Bangkok, is home to a variety of wildlife and has many hiking trails and waterfalls to explore. It’s one of the best offbeat destinations in Thailand . The cooler temperatures in July can make it a comfortable time to visit and see the park’s stunning scenery.

Visiting Thailand in July – Conclusion

Overall, there are many places to visit in Thailand in July, whether you want to explore the country’s cultural heritage, relax on its beaches, or enjoy its natural beauty. Just be prepared for the possibility of rain and the hot, humid weather.

visit krabi in july

Our family with children age 11, 15 and 17 plan for 12 days on beach resorts in late June and early July. We plan for beach life, snorking, kayaking and good Thai food.

What are your recommendations? Would 12 days in Kho Samui be too long. Any other desinations to recommend during that time period.

In July I would not go to the Andaman coast if beach life & related activities are a priority. Stick to the Gulf islands of Samui, Phangan & Tao.

Even though it only happens on an average of 10% of days, temperatures have been known to exceed 32°C and drop below 23°C at this time of year in Krabi. The highest temperature which has ever been recorded in the province in July is 38°C, whilst the lowest temperature that has ever been registered here during this month is 22°C.

With average temperatures as hot as these, Krabi in July is best suited to travellers who love the heat and sunshine. If you're not comfortable with hot temperatures but are determined to visit Krabi, then you'll be more suited to Krabi in January , when the temperatures are at their coldest. Whichever month you decide to visit Krabi, you'll need to make sure you pack plenty of light and airy clothing, plus sunglasses, hats and suntan cream to avoid sunburn and heatstroke.

Throughout the month, Krabi receives an average of 216mm/9 inches of rainfall spread out over 15 rainy days that's about the same as in June . Over the course of July, Krabi boasts an average seven hours of sunshine each day, alongside median cloud cover of 78% (partly cloudy) which hardly varies at all throughout the month. This amount of sunshine and overcast skies means that although Krabi might be warm when you're there, it will probably be too cloudy to work on your tan.

The average sea temperature for Krabi stays consistently warm throughout the year. In July, it's 30°C that's the same as last month which is definitely warm enough to go swimming, whether or not the sky is clear.

Thanks to its tropical climate, Krabi remains humid all-year-round. In July, the relative humidity for the province fluctuates between 63% (mildly humid) and 93% (very humid), almost never falling below 56% (mildly humid) or reaching as high as 99% (very humid). Krabi Hotels in July

For a luxury boutique hotel in Krabi, take a look at  Phu Petra . Located in Ao Nang, this four-star hotel enjoys fantastic beach and mountains views, plus natural, green surroundings, making it the perfect peaceful retreat. Guests can choose between 25 authentic Thai villas, many of which are located with direct access to the swimming pool. Onsite services and facilities include a restaurant which serves Thai and international cuisine, lounge which serves soft drinks and snacks, free shuttle service to Ao Nang beach, mini market, open-air massage parlour, WiFi access and Thai cooking classes.

If you'd rather stay at a spa hotel in Krabi, consider  Peace Laguna Resort & Spa . Also found in Ao Nang, just a short walk away from the local beach, this resort boasts a fantastic location, surrounded by tall cliffs and encircling a natural lagoon. Cottages and rooms are available to guests, each of which comes complete with air conditioning and WiFi access. There are three different swimming pools onsite, library, kids' club and all-day restaurant which serves international cuisine. The onsite spa is the highlight of the resort and is made up of fitness centre, massage salon and beauty therapy room.

When it comes to a small and intimate resort in Krabi, it's tough to beat  Duangjai Resort . Located in Ao Nang, just 500m from the beach and 30 minutes from the airport, this resort is made up of 20 deluxe rooms and one suite, which means there are never more than 42 guests onsite at one time. Each of the rooms is simply decorated in a modern style and comes with coffee making facilities and air conditioning. There is a handful of services and facilities onsite, including swimming pool, kids' pool, Jacuzzi, high-speed WiFi access, open-air Thai massage salon and bar/restaurant.

Aonang Princeville Resort  is another top pick for those who want an exclusive and private hotel in Krabi. Boasting a beachfront location with fantastic sea views, this resort is made up of double rooms, triple rooms, family rooms and honeymoon suites, each of which comes with a sea or garden view and free WiFi access. There are some onsite amenities, such as halal restaurant, swimming pool and solarium, but if you'd like to do something a bit more adventurous, there are plenty of excursions you can book at reception.

Krabi Beach for July

Koh Poda beach is one of the most popular in Krabi, thanks to its picture-perfect beauty. Here you'll find soft white sands stretching on for several kilometres, providing children with plenty of space to play and adults with more than enough room to relax. The clean and clear waters are always incredibly calm, making them perfect for swimming, whilst the incredible clarity makes the sea here ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving. There are also several small boats moored off the shore which will take you on excursions.

The beach at Ko Paid (sometimes known as Bamboo Island) is located on the uninhabited island of the same name. Since no one lives here, the beach on this island is entirely unspoilt and very quiet so quiet you'll often have the whole place to yourself. The soft, white sands provide the ideal conditions for sunbathing, whilst the remarkably clear and warm waters are great for snorkelling. You can catch a long tail boat from many of the other islands within the Krabi province to visit the beach. If the beach the boat pulls up on is crowded with tourists, you can explore the island and discover a quieter, more remote beach elsewhere on the island.

Neither of these beaches provide visitors with parasols or sun loungers, so you'll have to bring your own if you think you'll need them.

Bars and Restaurants

If you're struggling to find some gluten-free food and drink in Krabi, pop into Diver's Inn Steakhouse and Restaurant . Located in Ao Nang and open from 11am until 11pm every day, this restaurant specialises in 120 day-aged grain-fed Australian beef steaks, alongside a variety of duck, pork, chicken, seafood and Thai dishes, too. The restaurant recently added a number of gluten-free main meals, desserts and beer, for those who can't tolerate gluten.

For a true taste of local cuisine, consider dining at Ton-Ma-Yom Restaurant . Situated in Ao Nang and open from 8am until 2pm and again from 5pm until 9.30pm, this eatery is off the main streets and provides a very quiet place to enjoy a meal which is typically made to locals' tastes, unlike many other restaurants which claim to be authentic Thai, but tailor their flavours to the western palate. This restaurant fills up very quickly, so it's best to book in advance if you don't want to be disappointed.

When it comes to live cabaret in Krabi, it's tough to beat the Blue Dragon on the third floor at Centre Point . Shows take place twice each night once from 9pm until 10pm and again from 11pm until midnight and are performed by Thailand's infamous glamorous lady boys who lip synch to various popular tunes. Unlike you might imagine, the Blue Dragon isn't sleazy in the slightest it's clean and comfortable making for a fun night out, whatever your age.

Luna Beach Bar is one of the best beachfront bars on Noppharat Thara Beach. Open every day from midday until 2am, this bar is known for its open-air dance floor which is located on the beach. If you're not up for a dance, there are several comfy sofas where you can relax and enjoy the sea views with a drink in your hand. Sadly, the food does not come highly recommended here, so you're best off just having a drink here and eating elsewhere.

Things to do in Krabi in July

For a daring show unlike any other, stop by the Snake Show in Ao Nang . Shows run between 9am and 5pm and there are no set times for performances the show will take place whenever you show up. Before the show begins, visitors are encouraged to wander around the venue and admire the various snakes, lizards and turtles on display. After exploring, the show begins with a selection of pythons, vipers, cobras, rattle snakes and racers taking centre stage, alongside brave Thai locals who act out incredible stunts with the snakes. No snakes have had their fans or venom removed, so it really is as dangerous as it looks.

If you're up for a short tour, consider visiting Koh Pan Yi, the floating Muslim village . This floating village is packed with attractions, including restaurants serving fresh seafood, bars serving local beer, souvenir shops selling artisan handicrafts and traditional mosque. A few hours wandering around this village is a great way to experience the local culture and see how people really live away from the tourist resorts. The village is very small, so a couple of hours will give you plenty of time to see everything there is to see.

When it comes to rock climbing in Krabi, you can't beat Real Rocks Climbing Railay . Located on East Railay Beach , this rock climbing academy offers half-day rock climbing, full-day rock climbing, three-day climbing courses, deep water free climbing and climbing and caving tours for families. Climbing courses with private guides are also available, ranging from basic climbing courses to beginner abseiling and advanced lead climbing, all of which take place over several days.
