Voyage Samaritaine, the magnificent club restaurant under the new store’s art nouveau glass ceiling

La Samaritaine se dévoile en photos !

The reopening of La Samaritaine is breathtaking. The sleeping beauty is waking up in tip-top shape and makes us understand it during the press brief. We have been welcomed under the historic monument’s glass ceiling , on the last and 5 th floor, in the club area , proudly showing its name from the very lift on the ground floor: Voyage Samaritaine .

“ Voyage is a word shaking our senses up ”, we are told. And this is no lie. The historic murals surrounding the glass ceiling are so beautiful they leave us speechless. As for the Art Nouveau staircase , it is fascinating. Everything is inordinate, such as the big bar held by incredibly talented bartender Matthias Giroud , and the wall of bottles showing the way to the lounge area in the gourmet restaurant . Cars, the department store visitors, on the 5 th floor seem so far away. Paris is a moving party!

This time bubble offers us to make the most of life, to “roam from a bar to a restaurant”. This is what we do. Voyage opens from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. to have a drink, a pre-dinner drink, or an eclectic lunch. Why eclectic you wonder? The on-site chef, Mathieu Viannay (La Mère Brazier) serves mosaic dishes in a structured mishmash. Grilled cheese sandwiches twisted with wagyu beef, alright, some salmon pizzetta with extra caviar, the chef can do it. More into pâté en croute? The chefs have it, thanks to the menu shining a light on 40 dishes between French cuisine staples and exceptional produces.

It seems they are thumbling their noses to their neighbor, Le Cheval Blanc , aiming at being a Parisian palace and they got an entire section of La Samaritaine. On the last floor, Le Cheval Blanc will come up with the Langosteria , a terrace restaurant with panoramic views on the Parisian roofs, serving sea-inspired dishes that made the fame of the Langosteria in Italy. On the first floor, Cheval Blanc Saint-Tropez 3-Michelin-star chef Arnaud Donckele will take the helm.

The restaurant war has started in La Samaritaine.

Voyage Samaritaine : un bar et restaurant emblématique

By La rédaction

voyage bar samaritaine

Envie d’ailleurs ?

Voyage Samaritaine

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

Location Avoiding the noisy and overcrowded street restaurants and tourist traps in Paris, this place is a quiet and relaxing place for lunch or a drink. Price However, there is a price attached to it for a full 3 course meal all included, cocktail, water,... glass of wine 100€ Food The food was excellent for burratta, beef and dessert Service There is a brigade of servants that bring the food from the kitchen. Drinks however, are served from the bar on the opposite site. The waitress totally unmotivated and no interested in asking if something else was needed. I had to chase after my wine once the beef was already served. Food and drink service totally uncoordiated. Glasses for wine and cocktail very cheap for a luxury department store. But I would come again for the nice and quiet envionment and good food More

I had lunch at Voyage last week. I had a yellow chicken (guess fed on maze) with vinegar. It was simply delicious. Strangely enough it is rare to see chicken on menus, currently. I had a bottle of Evian to drink. Service was kind except... the lead-waiter, who was of the opinion that he needed to step in for his colleagues, who were completely in control. I paid EUR 30 (25 for chicken and 5 for water). A nice break in the area before going to the new Pinault museum. More

Food was truly delightful and a pleasure to have. However, given the location and the environment, the service of well below the standard expected. From plates getting stacked in-front of the client to each dish being served to different clients at different times it ruptured... our dining experience. More

We came here and were sat down only for drinks. Staff were not that friendly. We waited for 20/30 minutes and did not get served which is unacceptable especially because of the sky high prices they were charging. Three other groups left while we waited... to be served and in the end we left, having had no one approach us to take our order. Amazing look but not worth the wait at all - we wouldn’t know anyway. More

Even if the food is good , I never experienced such a bad and unprofessional service!! Not only the waiters but the manager ! I strongly disrecommended place. There are so many nice places in Paris. Please find another place !!!!

Disappointed as we arrived Saturday at 18h15 kitchen was closed although it says on the website and even on the menu that they serve until 19h and the center closes at 20h.

Nice seating under the glass roof of the Samaritaine. The menu is prepared by michelin stars chef. Food is light with an interesting mix of flavors.
