The fact that Lucy Celon was our trip planner for Portugal and Spain was nothing short of EXEMPLARY!! Lucy took a personal interest in our trip and from "day one" she displayed that interest!! Egypt: A Very Well Managed Trip

We have just returned from an eleven day trip to Egypt covering Lower and Upper Egypt including Abu Simbel and a five day Nile cruise. I had requested my country specialist for a couple of hotels we wanted to stay in, the Mena House in Cairo and the Old Cataract in Aswan. Excellent rooms were arranged in both these hotels as well as the Cecil in Alexandria (suggested by our country specialist), which turned out to be delightfully atmospheric. The Sonesta cruise ship was superb both in service, accommodation and food and lived up to its billing. The tour leader who was assigned to us was the very best and took care of all the admin throughout our stay. He was with us in Cairo and Alexandria and was always available on WhatsApp when we were up country. All the little details I had requested, like restaurant bookings for my wife’s birthday, were taken care of. In addition the local representatives arranged for all on the spot restaurant bookings and transfers. The Guides and the transportation throughout were of a very high order and little touches like the VIP service through immigration on arrival at Cairo were very thoughtful. We had planned this trip for the year before but had to defer it by a year at the last moment due to a medical emergency. Our Country Specialist arranged for the whole trip to be pushed a year ahead at no extra cost. This was out third trip with Audley and all have turned out to excellent. A special thanks to Jason, our Country Specialist, who was a fount of knowledge on Egypt, gave excellent advice telling us both what and what not to do and accommodating all of our special requests.

Barcelona - Spring 2024

We had a fantastic family vacation in Barcelona thanks to the attention and care we received from Eric Carnes. Eric was genuinely interested in our family dynamic and was able to assist us with creating unique opportunities for our time together while experiencing Barcelona. We asked for many unique amenities from customized architectural tours to securing sporting event tickets. He was even able to accommodate our big ask of being in the middle of city in a multi-bedroom apartment with all of the perks of staying in a high end hotel. We highly recommend Audrey Travel and Eric Carnes.

Audley Great in Exotic Locations

We just got back from a trip to India and Bhutan. This is our 2nd trip with Audley and we would definitely use them again. They have excellent partners (both Audley and local partners) and we felt well taken care of. The trip was well organized and Jason did a great job in keeping us in the loop. My only feedback would be it would be great to see a more itemized bill - you just get one lump sum. But in locations that are difficult or out of the ordinary (like Bhutan) I would definitely go with Audley.

Laura Coughlin at Audley Travel is…

Laura Coughlin at Audley Travel is absolutely the best! If you have a desire to go to South Africa to visit Cape Town, go on Safari or visit Victoria Falls in Zambia she is the expert. To no surprise, every i was dotted and every t crossed. The transfer drivers always arrived on time whether at the airports or from lodge to lodge. Friendly and knowledgeable about the different townships or villages we drove through. They were great. The binder Audley provided us had every detail organized by date & time which released any stress we might have had, Can’t even begin to tell you what a fantastic trip my wife & I had with select hotels, suggested excursions and the like all by Laura. Gotta be up front, we were nervous about the trip however Laura and her expertise made everything come off without a hitch. The planning for our trip was flawless

The planning for our trip was flawless. Drivers were always on time and uniformly helpful. Hotels were unique--not the usual chains--always lovely and well located. Guides were beyond amazing--knowledgable about history, architecture and art as well as warm and engaging. I can't say enough about Audley's travel services. This was our 6th trip with them and we are already planning another.

It was great experience.

This was our first experience using a travel agent to plan a trip for us. It was a trip of a lifetime, and we are ready to do more. We went from Perth, Australia on the Indian Pacific Railway to Adelaide. From there we drove the Great Ocean Road through Port Campbell and down to Melbourne. We then flew to Sydney before returning home. Our highlights were Rottness Island, Winery Tour, Kangaroo Island, Grampians National Park, Pinnacle, Mackenzie Falls, Boroka Lookout, Phillip Island Wildlife Expedition (including the Penguin Parade), Lanes and Arcades Tour in Melbourne, and Sydney Harbour Long Lunch Cruise. Anthony was thorough in talking with us about what kinds of excursions and tours we were interested in doing on this trip. He was there to assist us before, during and after this trip.

Jason Toms put together a trip of a lifetime…

Jason Toms put together a wonderful trip for my husband and I. Everything went perfectly. Everyday was a highlight. If I could pick one it would be the houseboat in Alleppey. It was a fabulous experience and the food was superb. Overall, there was a nice assortment of different types of accommodations. Our drivers Nagandra and Unni were just wonderful. The pace of the trip worked well for us. It was a great way to see India, we were lucky to be traveling alone, more local people talked to us so that was extra special. Once in a lifetime trip to Iceland

Audley travel organized a wonderful trip for my family of 7 to Iceland. We had fantastic, knowledgeable guides to help us get the most out of our experiences in this gorgeous country. We were basically taken care of every step of the way from arriving at the airport to being driven back. Our agent, Julia Mole was responsive to our requests and constructed the perfect trip for us. We really did have a once in a lifetime trip to Iceland including Northern Lights, Ice Cave, Lava tube, Highlands SuperJeep tour, black beaches, geysers, geothermic pools, many beautiful waterfalls, finding the elusive Arctic Fox ,and even seeing an erupting volcano (that we were able to get pictures of on our way back to the airport). We had a very happy group of travelers.

A dream trip

We have just returned from a phenomenal trip to southern Spain and Morocco , which we planned as a special adventure with our 13 year old grandson. Fantastic trip

My wife and I just returned from a fantastic trip to Agra and Rajasthan. Our trip creator, Jason Toms, put together an itinerary nicely balanced between urban and rural experiences. The rural sites allowed us to interact with locals in non commercial settings that weren’t possible in the urban settings. Throughout the process of creating the trip, taking it and upon our return, Jason listened, was very attentive and supportive, and was easily reachable. We can’t thank him enough for our very special trip. This was our second positive experience with an Audley planned trip. The local support and guides helped make the trip a pleasant experience. Travel in India with Confidence…

Just returned from a two-week trip to India -- Golden Triangle and a brief visit to self India. Overall the experience was first-class. To begin with, Audley’s US India tour manager was responsive and informative on all points both before and during travel. Audley’s pre-trip package is very complete and valuable to the traveler. Audley city office staff were consistently present at all key moves and hand-offs during the trip. The drivers provided a high level of confidence in difficult circumstances. The guides were well-informed and solicitous -- and able to calibrate the pace to fit our needs. The selection of hotels was excellent – both the new ones and the interesting “legacy properties -- and the prices were reasonable. Of course, standards of service would be considered “pampering” by US standards. Altogether, Audley provided a fantastic experience!

Veronica at Audley created a seamless…

Veronica at Audley created a seamless and fascinating experience in Cambodia and Vietnam. The highlight was the interaction with local guides - not just their knowledge but their life stories, their personal warmth and concern. I want to particularly cite Nara in Siem Reap and Hau David in Hoi An. Nara cared for us as would have for his parents. Hau found services and restaurant tables we never could have found for ourselves. Each was always available and always a pleasure to be with. Like Veronica herself.

Our Japan trip was to be a trip of a lifetime

Our Japan trip was to be a trip of a lifetime. Once we paid our full trip cost we heard nothing though Asha From Audley said we would talk more about details of trip three weeks out. Three weeks came and we get an email Asha had a wedding to go to and then she will be in Korea. Long story short run from this agency. Asha built us an itinerary for a 30 year old we are in our late 60’s and 80’s. It’s sad when a trip of a lifetime is ruined by greed!

We just returned from a trip to Spain…

We just returned from a trip to Spain through AudleyTravel. It was excellent our second booking with them. . I cannot recommend it more highly. I would never again use anyone else. We had two different agents because of the promotion of our first gal, Jay Drasich, who was great and then Maggie McCarthy took over. Maggie was friendly , easy to deal with, very professional. We were a special case because of a family medical situation. We had to cancel the first booking and reschedule it for a year later only to reverse it all over again. AudleyTravel, first Jay and then Maggie were all wonderful with this. They were so accommodating. The trip itself was wonderful. Every person , the drivers, the guides, the local contacts were first rate. Our guide Yolanda at the Prada gave a master class in art history. We learned so much and it made the whole experience more meaningful. That was true of all the tours we took. We loved the hotels , their locations, everything. This is the way we love to travel, independently, but beautifully supported in every way. As older travelers we didn’t have to get up early and take a bus with a lot of folks we might not have wanted to be with. We had our own itinerary, the things we wanted to do and see at our pace on our schedule. Maggie was with me every step of the way, planning, answering questions. She prepared me so well that when yet another medical situation came up I knew what to do and all went smoothly. This is a first class company with first class agents. With that kind of service you might think it is outrageously expensive but as I was referring Maggie to a friend she asked about cost and when I told her she said, wow that is very reasonable. I am just sorry I didn’t find AudleyTravel earlier. Our first trip with them to Hawaii was also fabulous. Thank you, AudleyTravel!

Amazing experience with Audley

We worked with Laura C at Audley to plan our honeymoon and it turned out perfect! From the beginning of the process Laura helped us select the right country and cities for our dream safari and beach honeymoon. She took care of everything from hotels, car transfers and even made us a reservation at a local restaurant for our layover in Nairobi. They picked the perfect safari camp for us and we got to see the big 5! 10/10 experience and we can’t wait to book our next trip with Audley!

Another memorable family trip with Audley; our 3rd Audley trip I think. From the initial fact finding call with Arista all the way through to identification of options and itinerary finalisation, Audley offered a very personal and tailored service. Accommodation was of a high quality and local South Africa operators similarly provided a great experience. Whilst Audley is definitely a premium brand, they will always be my go to travel company for our more complex or exotic trips. Audley also showed great flexibility and customer loyalty during those difficult Covid years, which certainly can’t be said for some holiday companies.

The most wonderful Namibian Safari

We had the most fantastic Safari in Namibia organised by Arista Midwinter from Audley Travel who used the most efficient local Namibian company Ultimate Safaris for guiding us through the country. From our departure from London Heathrow till our return approximately two weeks later everything ran as smoothly as clockwork. A very well balanced safari. Our guide for the whole trip Jason was absolutely incredible, his knowledge of everything relating to this safari and much more knew no bounds. Animals, birds, plants and trees. We even had a lesson in astronomy. The lack of light pollution gave a wonderful view of the starry night. All accommodations were well chosen for their locations and all meals were very good. The first couple of nights staying in Windhoek in the first class hotel The Weinberg gave a chance to acclimatise and get used to the high temperatures we were going to experience. From there onto Sossusvlei where we stayed in Dead Valley Lodge and from where we were taken to the dunes and dried out pan of Sossusvlei - an incredible experience with our first sighting of Oryxes. From here we travelled to Swakopmund via Walvisbay where we saw beautiful flamingos and had an outing on a catamaran seeing the enormous population of seals. Then onto Damaraland staying in the most unusual but comfortable lodge Camp Kipwe. The rooms were built in between the rocks with outdoor facilities, but all very private and of course air conditioned. From here we did elephant tracking and thanks to our knowledgeable guide found a small herd. The following day we visited Twyfelfontein with its rock etchings which apparently were between 2000 and 6000 years old - fascinating! In the evening while having sundowners we saw the most beautiful sunset we’ve ever seen. From Camp Kipwe we travelled on to Etosha National Park where we stayed just outside the park in Ovanga Lodge, which was set in an enormous reserve with its own wildlife. On late afternoon/evening game drives besides Impalas, springbok, wildebeests, zebras, kudos we saw Rhinos and a pride of 6 lions. That was before we got into Etosha! The lodge again was very comfortable and the meals as everywhere before was excellent. Etosha National Park is very large- somebody mentioned it is about the size of Belgium, so it was again thanks to our excellent guide that during the next couple of days we got to see so much wildlife including rhinos, giraffes and lions. A first for even our guide was the sighting of 5 cheetahs together! Then one morning around 11.00 we got to a water hole where there must have been at least 50 elephants drinking and messing around and after about 10 minutes a further herd of about 25 to 30 approached through the bushes. Well what more did we want. The only animals we did not see were leopards and hyenas, but as they are more nocturnal this wasn’t surprising. Our safari finished with a very comfortable stay at the Omaanda reserve about 3/4 hr drive from Windhoek airport. All in all this was one of our best holidays we’ve had (and we have travelled a fair bit). We can’t praise Audley Travel and the local company Ultimate Safaris enough and of course our excellent guide Jason !!

An Australian Adventure

We have just returned from an incredible 6 week adventure around Australia that had been expertly put together for us by Jindy. The difference between Audley Travel and other agents is that they are truly curious about you as a couple and take the time to really understand what's important to you when you visit a new part of the world. Jindy was completely open to feedback on her initial proposal and refined the trip until it was perfect, the out come being an experience that exceeded our expectations. As well as the tours that we booked, the level of supplementary information on each of our various destinations, provided in the trip folder and app, enabled us ensure that we maximised every opportunity to fully explore these cities and regions. The absolute highlight being eight days in Tasmania that we will never forget. We have used Audley before when we went to Canada and will do so again when we start planning our trip to Japan in 2025. We cannot recommend this company more highly and if you're considering travelling to Australia, Jindy Sangha is the ideal person to help you create something memorable.

Dream Trip to Rome, Amalfi Coast & Florence

I had long dreamed of going to the Amalfi Coast. After a couple of canceled group tours to Italy & a lot of research I decided to forgo a group tour and connected with Audley Travel to plan a customized trip that would not only include the Amalfi Coast but Rome & Florence as well. I cannot say enough great things about the trip and our country specialist Taylor Lack. It was clear from the beginning that Taylor was truly a specialist on Italy. We had an amazing 2 week busy but wonderful trip. There were only a couple of minor glitches but overall, the tours, drivers and accommodations were excellent. We particularly enjoyed our walking food tour of the Jewish Ghetto in Rome. The food was outstanding, and we truly enjoyed our very knowledgeable & personable guide Andrea Lillinlini. Andrea also took us on our visit to the Catacombs as well. Taylor was able to book us a tour of the Vatican at night which was magical along with a morning tour of the Vatican Garden - just beautiful & a must if you are lover of gardens and flowers. Our tour in the evening was led by Emilliano. His knowledge of the Vatican and the museums particularly the Sistine Chappel was beyond compare. The drivers in Rome were all wonderful but our favorite was the personable Matthew. A shout out also to our Capri guide Lorenzo Bari. My fiancé & I were exhausted at the end of our trip but that was due to all of the wonderful experiences Taylor packed into our trip. We are dreaming of going back again and would most definitely use Taylor & Audley Travel a second time around. Truly a memorable and magnifico trip!

Wonderful Private Tour in Mexico

Our country specialist was really helpful pre-trip, and extremely responsive when we suggested itinerary changes we wanted to make, and the trip itself was fabulous - we thoroughly enjoyed it all and it fully met our expectations. There was only one minor blip when, well ahead of time, our flight out of Mexico was reported as delayed, and our driver was unable to contact anyone at the destination agent to see if we could be booked on another flight (though in the end we did, through our own efforts, manage to get on to an earlier flight. The one thing which was a bit disappointing was that there was no follow-up post-trip, other than for a fairly bland online questionnaire. From our experience with other tailor-made travel agents, I would have expected that Audley would want a bit more 'colour' (eg we tried one of your recommended restaurants in xxx and it's no longer that great, or the hotel in yyy was fabulous because .....). Otherwise, though, I would recommend Audley and would certainly look to use them again.

Exactly what we wanted!

My wife and I had the most amazing experience in Japan--and we couldn't have done it without Adam at Audley! When we began to plan a trip to Japan, we realized quickly that we needed help from an expert. We had never used a travel service before, but I am so glad that we reached out to Audley. Adam interviewed us and got a sense of the kind of experience that we wanted, then--with just our arrival and departure dates--he assembled an itinerary of cities, amazing lodging (including traditional ryokans), and really interesting activities with local guides that were tailored for us. He absolutely nailed what we wanted--not simply travel, but an experience that was more immersive, fun, and with the right mix of planned activities and unplanned time. His support was really helpful, including lots of time before departure to ensure that the plan fit our needs, as well as lots of advice and tips from his own time staying in Japan. The logistical support was really key to making our travel easy--including providing a mobile wifi hotspot to ensure we had internet access everywhere, supplying our JR vouchers and tickets on our first day on the ground, as well as the Audley mobile app and printed binders of our trip. Adam arranged private transfers to and from the airport, and local guides that taught us how to use transit, that gave *tons* of tips of what to see, and that were eager to share their culture with us... All of this really took all the stress out of planning and execution, and just made our trip *so* enjoyable. Thanks to Audley, and thanks to Adam for giving us memories that we will never forget!

Beyond Expectations - our Thailand adventure

We have just returned from our Tailormade 33-day tour and beach holiday in Thailand. What an amazing experience; it certainly did not disappoint and in fact, exceeded all expectations. We planned our itinerary with the insider knowledge and advice of Mark Hotham, South East Asia Specialist at Audley Travel. His suggestions gave us just the right balance of cultural and historical sites, countryside and nature, food experience, varied activities and the opportunity to engage with people from the local communities. Travel arrangements and transfers were smoothly conducted, and we were informed about any changes in the programme. Vehicles were clean and comfortable and we always felt safe being driven on often hectic roads. Our local guides were all very knowledgeable and clearly proud of this and enjoyed sharing this with us. We also appreciated their knowledge of transport systems, knowledge of the local area and ability to access entry tickets as a priority, therefore reducing wait time. They managed to adapt and change the schedule to incorporate the optimum experiences for us; for example, when there would be fewer people, cooler temperatures, or even changing the route and order of visits. Our guides recognised when we were flagging and offered timely refreshment and comfort breaks. It was interesting to learn directly from them about life in Thailand and they offered insight into their own lives. We developed a particularly good rapport with two guides and this is in part due to continuity over a period of time. However, we greatly appreciate that these two guides had such wonderful personalities, coupled with a passion for their jobs and a positive attitude towards providing excellent customer experience. We would like to acknowledge the organisational arrangements provided by Exo Travel – Thailand who coordinated bookings, internal travel, transfers and guides for a seamless experience We are fortunate to have the luxurious commodity of time and so were able to build in time to relax and enjoy the environment rather than constantly travelling day after day. For example, we occasionally included in our itinerary an extra day so we could make use of the hotel facilities for a full day rather than simply a couple of hours after an excursion, or take time out to explore on our own. We also really enjoyed the sometimes-brutal Thai massage in several locations! The quality of accommodation we stayed in ranged through Simple (x4), Medium (x5) and First Class (x1) (Audley classifications) All were welcoming, clean and had a comfortable bed. We were more than satisfied with most that we stayed at. In making our booking, we understood that in some instances there were limited accommodation options and therefore we were forewarned of any potential negative issues. There were two hotels where in hindsight we would not wish to stay again; one was the only option. The other was selected as a convenient location for a flight the following day but we would choose a longer drive time in preference to this hotel. We feel very fortunate to have had this incredible experience of Thailand which we could not possibly have constructed ourselves and would like to thank Mark, our SE Asia Specialist Adviser for his expert knowledge, advice and seemingly endless patience which have undoubtedly contributed to making this trip the best we have experienced, through any company, ever!

Audley put together the best package…

Audley put together the best package holiday for us we are not well traveled and they really made everything so easy for us so very helpful - our holiday was amazing and unfortunately it all went very wrong as my husband was taken ill - Audley stepped in with the very best of support for me all through the ordeal they kept in touch daily sometimes twice a day or even night they were absolutely amazing and helped me get through everything - once back they continued with their support in the long battle I had with the travel insurance claim Audley are simply the best at what they do - VALUE THEIR CUSOMERS - I can not thank them enough.

Our trip to Kenya

Our trip to Kenya was absolutely amazing. Abigail Childres made it so we always felt safe and cared for. We never had to worry about any of our travel arrangements and she always had someone there to take care of us. Abigail figured it out very soon in our planning conversations that we were not campers. She then made it so that our accommodations were amazing. Truly beautiful views, beautiful people and unbelievable animal watching. She made it so that our meals were cooked special for us, and she even helped make sure that one of our companions, who had dietary restrictions never had to feel like they weren’t going to get an unbelievable meal. Abigail and Audley experts for Dubi also arranged for a side trip after Kenya to Dubai, which was just as amazing as going to Kenya in its own way,. Abigail and Audley knocked it out of the park. Thank you so much Abigail and Audley for the trip of a lifetime!!

Returned from a 2 week trip to Vietnam with Audley a few weeks ago. Only now can I write about the trip with neutrality. Nothing to do with Vietnam which is an interesting country with friendly people. The problems were all to do with the very poor service we received from Audley. We were repeat customers and have traveled widely with a variety of operators. never before have we experienced the number or scale of issues we had on this trip. Things began to go downhill reading our 'final' itinerary and noticing that instead of a short flight from one place to another, we were due to fly to Ho Chi Mihn City at 6am then be driven for what turned out to be 4 hrs. On enquiry we were told the original flight was cancelled some weeks previously and this was the best alternative. We didn't see it that way - Audley state that they will keep people updated of any flight change as soon as they are aware, and that all arrangements are 'bespoke' ie arranged to best suit the customer. We consider that we should have been informed and consulted about how to deal with the cancelled flight immediately it happened. Eventually Audley agreed to change our flight to a later one (which meant they had to pay for an upgrade because it had virtually sold out by then - something they seemed to 'hold against' us as it was mentioned many times) Sadly no one in Vietnam knew of the change and we had to communicate with the UK many times before the new flight was confirmed - the day before it took place, 7 days into the trip. We further experienced being informed by the Audley app that we had landed from a different internal flight several hours before the flight took off - because the app was incorrect. We also were given incorrect information about booking in to the International flights by personal e-mail, and the information about booking in arrangements in the itinerary were not appropriate to the e-ticket arrangements that now exist for all flights. Most of the hotels that were booked for us were good, except one which was not suited to our needs ( I have mobility issues and the hotel supplies cycles-which I cant even get on- to get around) Furthermore it took 5 hours after arriving at this hotel (which we had been assured was one of the best Audley work with) to get a room with working air-con and the trouble we had during this time resembles a farce ! We went to this hotel to visit a floating market, which we anticipated would be a highlight of our trip (I am a keen photographer) In the Audley website the market is described as 'the throng of boats make it difficult to see the water' and 'boats are filed with teetering piles of fruit and vegetables' Many friends have seen such sights in the past but sadly it is not like that now - there are a few big black container boats from Cambodia with produce, but the trading is done elsewhere - surely Audley who claim to have very good, up to date local knowledge should know this ? The whole experience was beyond disappointing. We also found other descriptions to be inaccurate and misleading for example - Can Tho is not a small town, it is the 4 biggest City in Vietnam with well over 1 million inhabitants, Hoi An Old Town is lovely but it no longer has the Japanese bridge described and depicted on the website. The area is surrounded by unmentioned huge hotels and a 'party Island' on the opposite riverbank. The final major issue we had was with a guide who acted inappropriately. Having mentioned we were unhappy to Audley they started a process where the guide was informed he would not be continuing with us while we were on a long car journey with him - something we had expressly asked not to happen. The whole situation was very awkward, with the guide asking me twice if he had offended me and even trying to contact me when we got home. We understand why he would be upset but strongly feel it is for his employers to deal with updating him about expected attitudes. This is far from Audleys promise to offer 'the best guides' - we have to say the others were excellent. There were other 'niggles' along the way and we ended the holiday more stressed than we began, partly because as problems multiplied and escalated we worried about what might go wrong next rather than relax and feel looked after - surely the main reason that people pay a lot of money to a company like Audley. Why have I given a score of 2 ? On return it would have been zero ! We put together a full complaint -not that Audley give an indication that they have a complaint procedure or a customer services department on their website. We wanted to alert them to the flaws in their promotional material and help prevent future issues. We also wanted compensation. We believe this has been taken seriously, we have received apologies and we have agreed a sum. It wont give us the happy memories we hoped to bring back.

An excellent travel company to trust with your holiday plans

Keshia, at Audley, created a truly memorable holiday for us to New Zealand. The whole experience was very simple and easy for us. Audley were extremely quick to reply to our initial enquiry, arranging a video call to understand our requirements, and they produced an itinerary that matched those requirements. Keshia kept us well informed on the progress of all bookings and was quick to come back with any questions over the options available to us, clearly setting out pros and cons. The online portal hosting our travel details was easy to use and very comprehensive, as was the folder provided for those who prefer a paper-based solution. We always knew where we needed to be, at what time, and had full contact details should any questions arise. Keshia's thorough knowledge of the country meant that she could recommend the best times for us to be at certain locations the get the most out of our holiday. In summary, their organisation was superb and we would recommend them to our family and friends without hesitation.

A dream trip

We have just returned from a phenomenal trip to southern Spain and Morocco , which we planned as a special adventure with our 13 year old grandson. We can't say enough about our specialist Corinne, who planned every detail to perfection, keeping our grandson in mind: the unique boutique hotels and riad, outstanding activities, hand picked guides, excellent restaurant recommendations, cultural hints, etc. We look forward to planning more trips with Audley!

Trip to Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore

We have just returned from a trip to Hong Kong , Thailand and Singapore . Shannon Winzar helped us put our trip together and made a number of recommendations as to where to stay including visiting Singapore on our return leg which was something we hadn’t considered and turned out to be a great experience . She also recommended the Pimalai resort on the island of Koh Lantra which has to rate as simply the best resort we have ever visited.We were delighted with all aspects of our trip and glad we had Shannon to advise, her first hand experience made all the difference. Fantastic trip

My wife and I just returned from a fantastic trip to Agra and Rajasthan. Our trip creator, Jason Toms, put together an itinerary nicely balanced between urban and rural experiences. The rural sites allowed us to interact with locals in non commercial settings that weren’t possible in the urban settings. Throughout the process of creating the trip, taking it and upon our return, Jason listened, was very attentive and supportive, and was easily reachable. We can’t thank him enough for our very special trip. This was our second positive experience with an Audley planned trip. The local support and guides helped make the trip a pleasant experience. Detailed planning and excellent execution

Undertook a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia in March 2024. Audley had helped us with a trip to India in 2019 and this was handled very well in all aspects. This new trip was well planned with lots of relevant information provided to us. Unfortunately due to a missing bag and poor service from the Sheraton Hotel in Frankfurt on our way to Vietnam, we had to shorten our trip to Vietnam by 4 days. Christian LeFort, our Audley contact, and the Audley Help Desk team went into action and were able to rejig our itinerary to cope with the sudden change. Christian was extremely helpful and this helped to reduce the stress we were feeling as a result of the last minute changes. Christian deserves the highest compliments for his quick reaction to our plight. The trip went well after the unfortunate start. We were met at airports etc as planned for transfers. Tours were good. Hotels were excellent. We must mention the Jaya House River Park in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Excellent service levels. Room, facilities and food excellent. World class. I highly recommend Audley as a travel company. Expensive but you get what you pay for. Excellent service at all times.

Incredible Mistreatment on Solaris/San Jacinto “Cruise” to Galapagos: February 26 to March 4, 2024

My husband and I paid dearly (more than $16,000) for Audley Travel to book/arrange for us a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Galapagos. We expected excellence. We received the opposite. Here is the cautionary tale about Audley (the center of greed) and the half-wit thugs who ran the boat. Let it serve as a warning to others to never use Audley for anything and to never arrange any excursion of any length with San Jacinto/Solaris if you care about quality and the kindness or competence of the boat crew.

After much research, I opted for Audley to book my Masaai Mara safari. I travelled last September and it was the most amazing, life changing trip I have had so far. We dealt with Charlotte Callin the Malaysia and Borneo specialist. She was very professional and not pushy at all when we were considering booking our Malaysia trip. When we booked, she answered every query quickly and readjusted all our travel plans by a day at our request which was probably a lot of work. She arranged 2 video calls to discuss last minute arrangements and to answer all our queries. Has anyone used this agent before Audley Travel ( http://audleytravel.com )?

I recently signed up for a holiday to South America and was a last minute addition to the tour of 7 of us. I am only sharing a triple room and for a 10 day tour to Rio, Bueno Aires and Iguazu Falls it is costing me £2850.

To top it all off it is actually only 9 full days not 10 as one of those days is flying back to the UK,

I realise I had a choice as to whether or not I agreed to go but due to recent stresses in my life I needed to get away and it was just a phone call to the agent to get this sorted. I guess I signed up stupidly not realising what terrible value for money it was, which is unlike me.

I was curious if anyone else found the same with Audley Travel?

Next time for sure, I will be organising myself and will never use these services again.

If you type Audley Travel into the search box just above your question, and from the drop-down menu choose "All Forums" that search will yield many forum topics over the years.

Sounds like you booked quickly because of stresses in your life, wanting to escape for a while. That's understandable. Travel companies put together package trips that may not be the best value. They are obviously in business to make money, so are often more expensive than trips you independently researched and booked yourself. I think they rely on people assuming they couldn't organise it all themselves, so go for the convenient option of a package trip. But when they start looking into the components of the trip they see it's not top quality or good value.

You have booked it, and probably can't cancel or you would face stiff penalties. Maybe just try and enjoy the trip, relax and explore South America. Getting away might be just what you need. Then for future travel get a package trip quote, then use tripadvisor and other resources to see if you could do it better and cheaper yourself.

Safe travels.

Audley Travel have been around for quite a number of years, so imagine they are doing something right. If I was spending that amount of money on a holiday I would certainly have done plenty of research BEFORE I booked. Travel companies ar businesses that need to make money. You may possibly been able do have booked the same trip yourself at a much cheaper price.

The above to me sounds like a plausible and fairly logical explanation.

As for the £1000-1500 you're "probably going to spend", that is mere speculation and comes across to me as considerably high average daily spend on food for just 9 days. What you choose to or choose not to spend on food, is beyond the control of the travel agent. The final figure you've arrived at of £4000+, is *not* what the agent is charging.

It is unfortunate that you had stresses in your life, but nobody can reasonably expect agents to discount prices based on such circumstances.

And you have a number of flights and accommodations that this will apply to.

It is also normal on a tour to have to forgo days of exploration to travel between places. When you have time to plan you can take this into consideration and make an informed decision but I'm guessing that you just wanted to go.

It is actually not excessively steep for the destination and what you will see. It will refect the last minute nature of the trip.

Go and have a great time, unwind and enjoy the beauty of the place. Good memories are priceless and you will have them always.

I appreciate it is last minute, however my family booked a while ago and they are all paying £2500 each! I am paying an extra £400 for the last minute nature but even if I booked a while ago, it is still costing £2450 per person for 9 days in South America.

Seems very steep to me.

This is the 2nd time we have used Audley Travel as we were so impressed with how they planned our first holiday with them. Very poor customer service

Booked to go to Japan many months ahead and very excited. Unfortunately our specialist rep left and her replacement was not very efficient. She promised things, calls that never materialised. I booked with them because I suffer from anxiety and wanted all the stress taken away. Her inefficiency left me stressed before we left. We missed our flight connection due to late departure and we were abandoned. No help during a weekend. Lost paid for trips and tickets as no rep. would rearrange to meet us. Now trying to claim compensation and constant stalling. Yet again booked phone calls not received. Japan is wonderful by the way but not the experience I was expecting from Audley.

New Zealand Trip of a Lifetime…

The New Zealand trip had been on our agenda pre Covid and we used Audley to help plan our self drive itinerary. Fantastic tour of New Zealand

Three perfect trips with Audley

Exceptional

Superb, for once you do actually get what you pay for!

We were recommended Audley Travel by friends who had used them for their honeymoon in South Africa. We went to Thailand and Audley excelled. Our expert Anna was exactly that, great recommendations, wasn’t phased by our requests to tweak our arrangements and the 3 weeks went without a hitch. 99% our our experience was fabulous, and the 1 element we found slightly amiss was out of Audrey’s control. I had always wanted to go to the floating markets of Bangkok but did not agree with the use of drugged slow lorises for the purpose of tourist photographs. This was discussed with Anna on our return and I was assured as a company that focuses on high animal welfare, this option would be addressed. The standard of our transfers, hotels and experiences was superb. Our two highlights were Anantara hotel with both the elephant experiences in The Golden Triangle and The Sarojin hotel in Khao Lak; just exceptional. Will definitely be using Audley for future trips.

South Africa boutique style

We decided to book a trip to South Africa but didn’t know where to start. After engaging with a specialist Andy Freeman at Audley, the process was so easy and relaxing. A few calls with Andy, great questions to know more about us and what we wanted from the trip and presto we had an itinerary designed just for us. 6 Week New Zealand and Australia Holiday

We’ve been on an amazing 6 week trip to New Zealand and Australia, arranged by Amy Waters, who has been brilliant from our first telephone conversation to our catch up call after our trip and all the emails and phone calls in between, all our flights, hotels, various trips, car hire and transfers have been exceptional, we wanted a trip to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary and my 60th birthday, and this was a trip of a lifetime, Amy listened to what we do and don’t like from a holiday and tailored it perfectly to us. We can’t thank Amy enough for all her help, also Audley as a company have been fantastic, when I contacted the UK office from Australia, for some advice they were brilliant. Amy even helped our daughter arrange a Mothers Day surprise to be at our accommodation in New Zealand. Classic Costa Rica

We had a great time in Costa Rica based on the Classic Costa Rica tour - communication at home was excellent and usually by phone which made things very personal. My only complaints are that we changed flights in Miami for which we needed an ESTA, which was mentioned in our written itinerary but not mentioned in communications, so we had a last minute panic getting this sorted. Also, our detailed itinerary was given to us by the ground agent in the taxi from the airport to our hotel when we arrived after a 22 hour door-to-door journey, which wasn’t ideal! This could have been done before we left the UK. Also, because we made a few changes/additions to the standard tour, some trips were not necessary. This could also have been addressed beforehand and given us a little more free time. Other than this the organisation, hotels and service were excellent.

Review of UN agency helping Palestinian refugees found Israel did not express concern about staff

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — An independent review of the neutrality of the U.N. agency helping Palestinian refugees found that Israel never expressed concern about anyone on the staff lists it has received annually since 2011. The review was carried out after Israel alleged that a dozen employees of the agency known as UNRWA had participated in  Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks .

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, Canada and the European Union.

In a wide-ranging 48-page report released Monday, the independent panel said  UNRWA  has “robust” procedures to uphold the U.N. principle of neutrality, but it cited serious gaps in implementation, including staff publicly expressing political views, textbooks used in schools the agency runs with “problematic content” and staff unions disrupting operations.

From 2017 to 2022, the report said the annual  number of allegations of neutrality  being breached at UNRWA ranged from seven to 55. But between January 2022 and February 2024, U.N. investigators received 151 allegations, most related to social media posts “made public by external sources,” it said.

In a key section on the neutrality of staff, the panel, which was led by former French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, said UNRWA shares lists of staff with host countries for its 32,000 staff, including about 13,000 in Gaza. But it said Israeli officials never expressed concern and informed panel members it did not consider the list “a screening or vetting process” but rather a procedure to register diplomats.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry informed the panel that until March 2024 the staff lists did not include Palestinian identification numbers, the report said.

Apparently based on those numbers, “Israel made public claims that a significant number of UNRWA employees are  members of terrorist organizations ,” the panel said. “However, Israel has yet to provide supporting evidence of this.”

Israel’s allegations led to the  suspension of contributions to UNRWA  by the United States and more than a dozen other countries. That amounted to a pause in funding worth about $450 million, according to Monday’s report, but a number of countries have resumed contributions.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Monday called on donor countries to  avoid sending money to the organization .

“The Colonna report ignores the severity of the problem, and offers cosmetic solutions that do not deal with the enormous scope of Hamas’ infiltration of UNRWA,” ministry spokesperson Oren Marmorstein said. “This is not what a genuine and thorough review looks like. This is what an effort to avoid the problem and not address it head on looks like.”

Colonna, speaking at the United Nations as the report was released, said the panel had been well received by Israelis while conducting its review and she urged the Israeli government not to discount it. “Of course you will find it is insufficient, but please take it on board. Whatever we recommend, if implemented, will bring good.”

The report stresses the critical importance of UNRWA, calling it “irreplaceable and indispensable to Palestinians’ human and economic development” in the absence of a political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and “pivotal in providing life-saving humanitarian aid and essential social services, particularly in health and education, to Palestinian refugees in Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and the West Bank.”

U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric welcomed this commitment to UNRWA and said the report “lays out clear recommendations, which the secretary-general accepts.”

UNRWA’s Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini said last week he accepts all recommendations. As Israel has called for the breakup of the agency, Lazzarini told the U.N. Security Council that  dismantling UNRWA would deepen Gaza’s humanitarian crisis  and speed up the onset of famine.

International experts have warned of imminent famine in northern Gaza and said half the territory’s 2.3 million people could be pushed to the brink of starvation if the Israeli-Hamas war intensifies.

Separately, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also ordered the U.N. internal watchdog, the Office of Internal Oversight Services, to carry out an investigation into the Israeli allegations that 12 UNRWA staffers participated in the Oct. 7 attacks. That report is eagerly awaited.

In its interim report on March 20, the panel noted UNRWA’s “significant number of mechanisms and procedures to ensure compliance with the humanitarian principles of neutrality” but also identified “critical areas that need to be addressed.”
