Disney Fantasy Ship Overview

The arrival of the Disney Fantasy in 2012 marked what many saw (at the time) as the “completion” of Disney’s fleet, bringing the total number of ships to four. Disney Magic and Disney Wonder had launched more than a decade earlier in the late 1990s, followed by the Disney Dream in 2011.

While the launch of the Dream one year earlier had consumed some of the pent-up demand for a new Disney Cruise ship, the Fantasy’s arrival was still a source of excitement for avid cruisers. Like the Dream, Imagineers planning the Fantasy were able to take advantage of all the experience and technological advances they’d perfected since the launch of the first ships. Innovations such as the AquaDuck water coaster and an onboard mystery game featuring interactive artwork, the Fantasy offers lots to keep its Guests occupied.

As you arrive at the port and approach the Disney Fantasy, you might notice Dumbo and Timothy on the ship’s stern. Dumbo’s 7-foot ear span and 2,300 weight — contrasted against their apparent size compared to the rest of the ship — help drive home the true size of this amazing floating city.

Inside, the three-decks-tall grand atrium lobby of the ship pays homage to the golden age of steamliner travel. A statue of Minnie Mouse — in period-appropriate garb and with luggage in tow — greets passengers embarking on their seafaring adventure.

This central hub of activity is decorated in an Art Nouveau motif, with designs reminiscent of peacock feathers repeated throughout.

From the atrium, take gleaming glass elevators to your stateroom or to any of the restaurants, theatres, pools, and activities scattered about the ship’s 14 passenger decks.

How Does Disney Fantasy Compare to Other Disney Cruise Ships?

The Disney Fantasy is a sister ship to the Disney Dream ; the two ships, which launched within roughly a year of one another, are generally the same in terms of construction. That said, some similar areas on each ship are themed slightly differently from one another — the nightclub district, for example, offers entirely different venues on each ship. The Fantasy (and Dream) are significantly larger than the two original ships ( Disney Magic and Disney Wonder ) but remain slightly smaller than the Disney Wish .

The Disney Fantasy is one of the “mid-sized” ships in the Disney Cruise fleet, at least based on what we now about the remaining Disney Cruise ships currently being built . It is larger than the classic ships, but will be well below the gargantuan size of the ship Disney is planning to launch in Singapore in 2025.

Disney Fantasy is one of only two ships in the fleet to offer the AquaDuck water coaster, the Remy adult-exclusive fine dining restaurant, and virtual portholes (with live camera views of the outside) for its inside staterooms.

Should I Pick the Fantasy or a Smaller/Larger Ship?

Ship size is usually a matter of personal preference depending on how importantly you rank the various pros and cons.

Smaller ships such as the Magic and Wonder are generally easier to navigate on foot – indeed, you’re just a short walk away from the restaurants or virtually anything else onboard. My wife and I tend to prefer the smaller ships for this very reason — but I can honestly say we’ve never found the difference compelling enough to steer us toward solely booking the smaller ships. Interestingly enough, Katie and I have sailed onboard the larger ships more than the smaller ones, even though we prefer the smaller ones.

We at MagicGuides also tend to recommend smaller ships for first-time cruisers as they might feel a bit less overwhelming — but again, it’s not a major consideration. My first Disney Cruise (and my first cruise ever, for that matter) was on the Disney Fantasy’s sister ship the Disney Dream; I never felt overwhelmed during my maiden voyage and you likely won’t either.

On the other hand, some repeat cruisers love larger ships such as the Disney Fantasy because the larger size is simply just a bit more impressive and immersive. There’s no doubt that the larger size fully envelops you in the action. That first glimpse of the ship in port as you arrive for your cruise — and its looming presence at every port along the way, almost become a point of pride for cruisers.

Larger ships such as the Fantasy are at a disadvantage in smaller ports where they might simply not fit, but this usually is not a concern. Disney wisely plans its itineraries to avoid this issue wherever possible, though some ports are so small that virtually every cruise ship has to rely on tsmaller boats to ferry you to shore (known as tendering ).

A bigger ship means more passengers, so onboard venues are larger as a result. Luckily, the larger restaurants, theaters, and pools do a great job of handling the additional passengers so it rarely feels crowded. Those larger venues also give you more options; you can pick a lower or upper balcony seat at a movie theatre, for example, or you might simply have more shops/lounges to choose from. But don’t worry that it’s too big — the Imagineers who designed the ship pulled out their bag of design tricks such as forced perspective, which means you can still find cozy spots onboard that almost make it feel like you have the ship to yourself. Sailing during slower times can also help.

Disney Fantasy Staterooms

Choosing your own private room onboard the ship is a major part of planning your Disney Cruise. Your stateroom (AKA your passenger cabin) serves as your hotel room at sea. It’s where you’ll spend a decent portion of your waking hours — and where you’ll sleep each night.

The Disney Fantasy boasts 1,250 staterooms, most of which offer outside views through a porthole window or a private verandah (balcony). There are four primary types of staterooms on the ship; each of those four types is further divided into multiple categories and subcategories. Your choice of stateroom is one of the biggest factors in the how much a Disney Cruise costs , because the per-person cost can increase depending on the stateroom category.

Here is a brief list of the room types offered onboard. They’re listed here generally from least expensive to most expensive, though there may be some price overlap. Inside Staterooms on Disney Fantasy

Inside Staterooms are the smallest Guest rooms on the ship, but are still larger than those found on some other cruise lines. Luckily they’re wisely designed to offer plenty of room for everyone and their luggage.

These staterooms have no porthole window and no balcony, but on the Disney Fantasy they do feature something called a “magical porthole.” That’s a circular video screen which provides live video from the outside, along with occasional character sightings.

Inside staterooms are offered in standard and deluxe variants, with standard being the smaller of the two. The standard version is also the only regular stateroom category on the ship which does not feature a split bathroom configuration. A split bathroom has a toilet & sink in one section, with a shower & sink in the other; this provides the handy benefit of allowing two people to get ready at the same time.

Oceanview Staterooms on Disney Fantasy

Oceanview staterooms offer an outside view through a porthole window. Note that the window does not open.

There are two major choices within this category: a  Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom which is similar in layout to many other staterooms on the ship, and a  Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom  which is larger and offers many additional features geared toward larger families. Family staterooms generally hold more people than other staterooms onboard.

Verandah staterooms offer a private outside balcony which can be accessed through glass doors in your room. Most verandahs have see-through metal railings, but don’t fret if you have a toddler cruising with you — they also have clear plexiglass sheets on them for safety. Note that a few verandah category staterooms have solid metal partitions or are otherwise somewhat obstructed.

Disney Fantasy Dining and Lounges

It’s common knowledge that dining is an important part of the cruise experience , and the Disney Fantasy certainly lives up to those expectations. Onboard, you’ll find three main dining restaurants, two elegant adult-exclusive specialty dining options, a nightclub district and several lounges, plus plenty of places to grab a quick meal or a snack.

Rotational Dining Restaurants on Disney Fantasy

Like all Disney Cruise Ships, the Disney Fantasy offers rotational dining during the nightly dinner service. This concept is a Disney Cruise Line dining innovation; you’re pre-scheduled to visit a different restaurant on each night of the cruise with no need to make individual reservations. And you’ll have the same servers each night, so they’ll get to know you and your food preferences.

Dinner at these three restaurants is included in the cost of your Disney Cruise .

Animator’s Palate

Animator’s Palate is the flagship dining experience on the Disney Fantasy. It offers a fan-favorite menu along with a taste of the magic of animation.

The menu is inspired by the cuisines of Asia, California, and the Pacific. Be sure to try the black truffle pasta purseittes, a personal favorite of mine (and of many other repeat cruisers). You’ll also find butternut squash soup, wild mushroom risotto, polenta cake with tomatoes and mushroom, a lemon-thyme marinated chicken dish, beef tenderloin, and much more.

Your dinner also includes one of several shows which focus on the art of animation.

In one version of the show — known as Undersea Magic — interactive digital animation of the Finding Nemo characters allows you to talk with Crush! It’s very similar to EPCOT’s Turtle Talk with Crush.

In another version of the show — known as Animation Magic — you get a chance to become an animator! Start out by drawing your own character on a special paper placemat, then watch in awe as Sorcerer Mickey brings them to life at the end of your meal! I had a chance to do this on another Disney ship… it really does feel like magic!

• Enchanted Garden

The atmosphere of this French countryside conservatory truly does feel enchanted; it magically changes from daytime to sunset to nighttime, all during the course of your dinner! Light fixtures transform and flowers “bloom” as your meal proceeds.

Enchanted Garden offers a farm-fresh continental cuisine menu; My wife loves the lobster ravioli, while I’m always impressed by the unique curried carrot & apple soup. You an also enjoy the Ahi tuna and avocado tower, a lovely sea bass, marjoram-scented chicken, or pork tenderloin. Round out the meal with a tempting dessert of steamed lemon buttermilk pudding, banana sundaes, chocolate tortes, and almond meringue cake. Don’t be shy — order more than one!

Enchanted Garden sometimes serves as an alternate breakfast and lunch option (versus the primary onboard buffet Cabanas ).

• Royal Court

You’re invited to a royal feast at this elegant restaurant inspired by the greatest animated princess tales Disney has ever made. You’ll see nods to Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and many more classics.

Your four-course royal feast includes French- and American-inspired options. I love anything with pomegranate so I always order the pomegranate-glazed duck breast. There’s also spinach soufflé, and iced lobster and jumbo shrimp cocktail, avocado citrus salad, French onion soup, beef tenderloin with lobster medallions, and many more tempting choices. For dessert, indulge in a crunchy and creamy crème brûlée or enjoy a peanut butter mousse.

Royal Court may also serve an alternate breakfast or lunch service on some days.

Adult-Exclusive Dining on the Disney Fantasy

Disney cruises are certainly family-friendly, but there are still options which cater solely to adults because everyone needs a little time to themselves. One of the best adult-exclusive offerings on the Disney Fantasy is its duo of elegant specialty restaurants . So send the kids off to the Oceaneer Club, put on some nice clothes, and enjoy a date night at Palo or Remy!

Palo is the home of memorable Italian cuisine during your cruise. This gorgeous venue includes giant windows overlooking the ocean, providing a perfect backdrop for your meal. Dinner menu items include seared sea scallops, tableside-fileted dover sole, butternut agnolotti, tiramisu, and a signature chocolate soufflé that’s considered one of the most popular items across the entire Disney Cruise fleet. On sea days, a tremendously-popular brunch service is typically offered.

Dining here requires an upcharge and space is usually in high demand; book as early as your onboard booking window allows.

The most upscale onboard dining experience onboard the Disney Fantasy is Remy. The restaurant, named in honor of the diminutive chef in Ratatouille , transports you to France for a gourmet experience like no other. Dine in the main room, the 900-bottle wine room, or splurge for the luxurious private Gusteau room (complete with a custom multi-course menu).

Dinner at Remy begins with a signature champagne cocktail prepared at your table. Then, it’s a gastronomic adventure designed in part by Chef Scott Hunnel (of Disney World’s Victoria & Albert’s) and Chef Arnaud Lallement (recipient of three Michelin stars and voted by  other Michelin-starred chefs as one of the 10 best chefs in the entire world). A gourmet cheese trolley and selections such as duck, elk, Kobe beef, langoustine, and sablefish are hallmarks of the menu.

On certain cruises, there’s also a highly-demanded champagne brunch as well as a multi-course dessert experience.

Dining here requires a fairly significant upcharge. You’ll want to book as early as possible to have the best chance of securing a spot.

Casual Dining on the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

Breakfast and lunch are casual meals onboard the Disney Fantasy. So come as you are (just cover up any swimsuits) and grab a quick meal at Cabanas.

This buffet-style restaurant has nearly a dozen food stations offering a mix of American, Asian, and European favorites in an all-you-care-to-eat breakfast and lunch.

Décor-wise, you’re clearly “on the beach” here. You’ll find palm trees, “sand castle” artwork, and a Caribbean soundtrack. There’s also an impressive set of mosaic walls, with roughly 194,500 tiny Venetian enamel tiles making up scenes inspired by  Finding Nemo and the Great Barrier Reef.

As to the food, those seeking traditional American Breakfast favorites won’t be disappointed here. You’ll find all the usual morning offerings — custom-made omelets, bacon & sausage, Mickey Waffles, hash browns, and so on. But I always suggest making an effort to also try some of the international offerings that we normally don’t have for breakfast here in the states — perhaps an Asian offering such as rice and miso soup, or a European breakfast of fresh muesli with dried fruits and nuts. Because everything’s included, you can still pile on the Mickey Waffles alongside your more-adventurous choices.

Lunch at Cabanas is a daily-changing mix of chilled and hot choices. Jumbo iced shrimp & crab claws are longtime cruise favorites here, along with hamburgers, sandwiches, pizza, freshly-grilled meats, veggies, and much more.

Cabanas also offers an alternative dinner service most nights. It’s not buffet style at night; a server will present you with a menu and bring your food to you, and it’s usually a rather quiet meal. My spouse and I will sometimes plan to have dinner here on formal night if we don’t feel like packing dress clothes for the cruise.

Lounges, Bars, and Snacks on the Disney Fantasy

There’s always a place to grab a quick bite or a refreshing drink onboard. Whether you’re looking for a snack or a soda, or are seeking something a little stronger , you’ll easily find it on the ship. Here are just a few highlights:

• Beverage Station

There’s no need to purchase a separate drink package on a Disney Cruise, as most non-alcoholic drinks are included at no additional cost (a rarity in the cruise industry). This self-service beverage station located near the pool offers unlimited refills of sodas, teas, coffees, and other non-specialty beverages.

An adults-only retreat that focuses on specialty coffees and teas during the day, with cocktails in the evening.

A compelling open-air bar on Deck 13 offering expansive views and delightful cocktails. Adults only.

Eye Scream Treats and Frozone Treats

Cool down with all-you-can eat soft-serve ice cream cones (included in the cost of your cruise!), or spend a bit extra to enjoy a specialty smoothie.

Flo’s Cafe: Fillmore’s Favorites, Luigi’s Pizza, and Tow Mater’s Grill

For a quick grab-and-go snack poolside, check out these quick service windows. You’ll find pizza, chicken tenders, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and more.

Part of the Europa nightclub district, this lounge features highlights of Italy. Gather ’round the Carosello bar or settle into an intimate booth to enjoy live music and Italian-inspired cocktails. Adults only.

Meridian Lounge

Supplement your elegant meal at Remy or Palo by having cocktails at this upscale travel-themed lounge conveniently located directly between those two fine dining establishments. Cigars are also offered for purchase.

Minnie’s Sweet on You

Purchase hand-scooped ice cream, baked goods, and candy in this shop. Fees apply.

O’Gill’s Pub

Polish of a pint or two at this Irish pub, featuring live sport on-screen and some of the best American, Irish, and international beer on tap. Adults only.

A whimsical atmosphere and a custom private-label Taittinger Champagne are the hallmarks of this lush lounge. Adults only.

A serene lounge on Deck 14 in the forward funnel (red smokestack). This spot is often overlooked due to its secluded location, so it’s a quiet retreat with compelling views (and a great wedding venue, too!).

• Senses Juice Bar

Enjoy a healthy drink at this retreat near Senses Spa and Salon. Fresh fruit and vegetables give their all for these nutritious protein- and vitamin-packed beverages.

This adults-only bar provides scenic views of iconic city skylines around the world. Thanks to a little Disney magic, the view out the “window” changes to a different city every fifteen minutes.

It’s always London’s swinging ’70s at this mojo-bolstering nightclub. Pick a proper British cocktail or have a cuppa — it’s up to you! Adults only.

Room Service on Disney Fantasy

Most items on the Disney Fantasy’s Room Service menu are offered at no additional charge – you’ll only have to pay for a few specialty items and to tip the crew member who delivers the food to your room.

The standard room service menu usually includes soups & salads, chicken tenders, burgers & dogs, sandwiches & wraps, and hot wings.  You’ll also typically find a few flatbreads or pizzas and perhaps some pasta. Dessert is also offered — usually cookies, cake, or pie.

A favorite among repeat cruisers is the All Hands on Deck , a cheese, fruit, and crackers plate. Kids of all ages will be pleased to know you can also request a Mickey’s Premium ice cream bar – the same kind found at Disney World.

If you don’t mind coming out of pocket, you can add on specialty items such as beer, wine, canned soft drinks, deluxe coffees, juices, and pre-packaged snacks such as candies.

I personally usually skip the upcharge items and just go for the buffalo wings and perhaps a burger.

Best Bets for Each Meal on Disney Fantasy

Below are my personal picks for the best onboard dining options for each meal.

• Primary option: Cabanas is the number one breakfast spot onboard thanks to its long hours, expansive options, and all-you-care-to-eat service style. Mornings can be rather hectic here, but there’s rarely difficulty in finding a seat.
• Secondary option: One of the three rotational restaurants usually offers a table-service breakfast, complete with a server who will bring your food and keep your drinks refilled. The menu is a bit more limited than at Cabanas so I usually don’t go this route, but it’s definitely a much quieter option to start your day.
• Other options: Room service is available, but I tend to steer clear of it for breakfast. Why? First, you need to order in advance via a menu card that you hang on your doorknob the night before and I usually don’t know in advance what will sound good tomorrow morning. Second and more importantly, the room service breakfast menu is extremely limited. It’s a continental sort of menu with juices, coffees, pastries, and cold cereals. All well and good, but no bacon, eggs, sausage, or oatmeal? No thank you. Though I will admit that it’s nice to be able to order coffee and a light pastry to enjoy while watching sunrise from my verandah.
• Primary option: Like at breakfast, Cabanas is the best lunch option thanks to its wide selection. Iced jumbo shrimp and crab claws are a signature menu item most days and I usually eat my fill of them at least once during the cruise; you’ll also find freshly grilled meats, a wide variety of side items, some interesting international selections, and lots of tempting desserts.
• Secondary option: The food service windows at Flo’s Café offer an endless supply of burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and ice cream cones. These windows are great for folks who want to spend the day by the pool without having to stray too far for a nosh. Even if you’re elsewhere on the ship, heading here is a good option due to their extended hours. More than once we’ve missed lunch hours at Cabanas and had to grab a bite here. They’re also a good choice when you have a late dinner seating but need something to hold you over.
• Other options : ne of the three main restaurants typically serves lunch with open seating, no reservation required. Room Service is another good option, though there’s sometimes a lunch rush which can delay your food’s arrival a bit. One minor complaint, though: the cloche-covered dishes sometimes mean that my hot wings don’t arrive quite as crispy as I’d like.
• Primary option: Your assigned rotational dining restaurant is the heart of Disney Cruise dining and shouldn’t be missed. Your dedicated service team follows you all voyage long and will likely become your favorite Crew Members onboard the ship (my wife and I made such a connection with our servers on a 2019 cruise that we still remember their names!). Add in special themed menus and other thoughtful touches, and you’ll quickly see why this is a highlight of each day onboard. We rarely skip it.
• Secondary option: As an alternative to your pre-scheduled rotational dining restaurant, you might opt to experience Cabanas in a totally new way. Dinner at Cabanas is an entirely different experience than the free-for-all buffet-style offerings that are the mainstay of breakfast and lunch. A host seats you at your table, and a server presents you a menu featuring some of the most popular selections onboard. As I mentioned earlier, my wife and I sometimes go this route when it’s formal night at the main restaurants.
• Other options: Many cruisers enjoy dedicating at least one night of their cruise to an adult-exclusive meal at Palo or Remy. I personally prefer the idea of going the brunch route there rather than dinner, but that’s just a personal preference. On he other end of the spectrum, you can always grab something from the quick-service windows on the pool deck, or order room service.

Off-Hours Eating and Snacking

• Primary option: For cravings outside the main meal periods, your best bet is Flo’s Café on the pool deck. Their generous hours and snack-friendly offerings make them a great choice to tide you over between meals. Individual portions tend to be “snack sized” (perhaps 2 or 3 chicken tenders and a few fries), so you won’t spoil your dinner unless you want to.
• Secondary option: Room Service is available 24/7, up until about 1:30 AM on the last morning of your cruise. It’s the only option for overnight snacking. I’ll occasionally order a few warm cookies and some milk at bedtime, but you can also order 4:00 AM buffalo wings with no judgement.

The AquaDuck is the premier water attraction onboard the Disney Fantasy. This first-of-its kind (water coaster on a cruise ship) attraction takes its guests on a wild adventure high above the upper decks of the ship.

Guests board a raft and are propelled by jets of water through 765 feet of tubes and open-air slide segments; along the way, you’ll experience a 4-deck drop, a careening curve over the edge of the ship, and a journey through one of the iconic red smokestack funnels.

You don’t have to pay extra to ride the AquaDuck, but you will have to wait in line (sorry, no FastPass, Lightning Lane, or Genie+ here). Lines tend to be longest on Sea Days and shorter when the ship is in port. You might have the best luck if you’re willing to ride while everyone’s ashore at Castaway Cay . Riding earlier or later in the day can also help avoid crowds – just don’t forget to check the operating hours each day in the Navigator app.

To ride solo, Guests must be at least 54″ tall and at least 7 years of age. Children under the age of 7 who are at least 42″ tall and toilet-trained may ride with a companion who is at least 14 years of age.

Pools and Splash Pads

An interactive water play zone on Deck 12. Paint cans, shower heads, pop jets, and more make up the splashy atmosphere of this experimental area concocted by Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Kids can patch leaky pipes, “control” water flow to the AquaDuck, and dodge spills from the Ducky Dinghy. Ages 3+; supervision required for those under age 16.

• Donald’s Pool

This pool offers a shallow wading area with a deeper center. This is a perfect place to enjoy Disney movies on the giant 24′ x 14′ FunnelVision screen nearby. This pool is sometimes closed during special on-deck events, covered with a retractable floor to offer more deck space.

Funnel Puddle

A shallow (approximately 1-foot deep) family friendly pool that’s far removed from the raucousness of the Donald’s and Mickey’s pools. This is the closest thing the Disney Fantasy has to a “quiet pool” that’s still open to all ages; but there’s still a small water fountain feature in the middle that kids love to splash in.

• Mickey’s Pool & Slide

The shape alone clearly communicates this is designed for kids; The deeper zones of this still-shallow pool are shaped like the friendly face of everyone’s favorite pal, Mickey Mouse. Meanwhile, one of Mickey’s signature white gloves supports a bright yellow waterslide for kids aged 4 to 14 / height 38″ to 64″. May be closed during deck parties.

• Nemo’s Reef

This toddler-friendly splash zone features PIXAR characters spraying water, a child-sized Mr. Ray waterslide, and more — all in a shaded, enclosed, soft-surfaced area. Ages 3 years or younger; swim diapers are required.

• Quiet Cove Pool

A serene oasis for those 18 and up to get away from the kids for some quiet time. There’s a three-circled pool of varying depths, lounge-style seating in the shallowest segment, a whirlpool spa, and of course plenty of adult beverages nearby.

Satellite Falls Pool

One of the most unique water spaces onboard the Disney Fantasy, Satellite Falls is an adults-only wading pool that features drizzling water directly underneath one of the giant satellite domes on the ship’s upper deck.

Disney Fantasy Kids Clubs and Teen Clubs

Much of Deck 5 on the Disney Fantasy is dedicated to spaces especially designed for younger passengers (thanks in part to space saved by not having casinos onboard the ship ). Here’s a preview of the kids clubs and other youth-friendly spaces onboard the ship.

• Disney’s Oceaneer Club

The Oceaneer Club is the primary kids activity onboard the Disney Fantasy. It’s the place where your kids will probably spend most of their time onboard.

This secure facility is accessible only to kids aged 3-10 and trained youth activities staff — but there are pre-scheduled open houses to allow parents and children to tour the location together. Inside there are tons of kid-friendly spaces and activities, and it’s all included in the cost of your Disney cruise! This amazing kids club is one of the reasons we consider Disney to be the best cruise line for children .

Tweens and young teens (ages 11 to 14) have a space all to themselves onboard the Disney Fantasy, and it’s in one of the most exclusive spots on the entire ship: inside the iconic red smokestack funnel on Deck 13! Edge is the perfect place to relax as tweens see fit — a huge video wall, a dance floor, karaoke machines, a game room, and photo booths. The furniture can even be moved around so Guests can make the space their own. A mix of planned activities and unstructured free time keeps things interesting.

Those aged 14 to 17 have a unique indoor/outdoor space made just for them, complete with a super secret entrance! Indoors, teens will find plenty of TVs, video games, and tablets, plus dance parties, karaoke sessions, and group activities. Outside, there’s a private sundeck at the bow of the ship that’s perfect for games, splashing in one of two small pools, and sunbathing.

Tiny cruisers are well cared for in it’s a small world nursery! , an onboard babysitting service for infants and toddlers aged three and younger.

Disney youth counselors watch over the tykes, playing with them, feeding them, and handling diaper changes.

Nominal fees apply, charged by the half-hour (one-hour minimum). Discounts are offered for multiple children in the same family. Advanced reservations are strongly recommended. There are no in-room babysitting services onboard.

Given Disney’s reputation as an entertainment powerhouse, it’s no surprise that the shows and experiences onboard the Disney Fantasy are of the highest quality.

Broadway-Style Shows in the Walt Disney Theatre

Each night of your cruise, you’ll be treated to a live show in the beautiful Walt Disney Theatre. This includes at least three Broadway-style shows during your cruise, along with other additions (such as family-friendly comedians, ventriloquists, magicians, or even hypnotists) on longer voyages.

Shows are typically offered twice nightly, with times are opposite your dinner time onboard. Those with early dining will see the late show, while later diners will see the early show.

Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular

Spectacular special effects and just a little magic from the lamp bring this timeless tale to the stage with music and comedy. Marvel at the Magic Carpet and just try to figure out how Jafar transforms! You’ll also enjoy beloved songs from the film as well as a new one written just for this production.

Disney’s Believe

A true stage spectacular, featuring 300+ costumes, 200+ scenic elements, and a cast of characters assembled to help a daughter provide her hard-working father a bit of perspective on what’s truly important in life.

Frozen – A Musical Spectacular

A lively musical retelling of Anna and Elsa’s journey. Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf are all here to join in the adventure, and of course all the familiar songs are there, too.

Pirate Night / Pirates in the Caribbean Deck Party with Fireworks

Pirate night starts with the delivery of pirate bandanas to your stateroom – then the party moves to your scheduled dining location for the evening, where a special themed menu awaits. Then, head up to the pool deck for a raucous show with high-flying pirates including favorite Disney characters. Finally, the grand finale (and another Disney innovation) – fireworks at sea!

Note: not every itinerary offers a pirate night, and fireworks may be canceled due to weather.

Sailing Away Deck Party

The official start to your cruise on the Disney Fantasy. Your vacation begins when the ship’s horn plays those familiar notes and confetti rains down from the upper decks. Captain Mickey and all his pals are there to join the fun to ensure your trip gets off to a great, high-energy start.

Disney Movies in the Buena Vista Theatre

First-run and classic Disney, LucasFilm, Marvel, and PIXAR films are shown all day long inside the Buena Vista Theatre. Every show is completely free — you don’t even need a ticket! Just check the Navigator app or signs outside the theatre for showtimes, then head inside to find a seat.

This is honestly one of my wife’s favorite things to do onboard the ship. It’s a great way to catch up with films she might have missed throughout the year, or to re-watch one that we haven’t ever seen on a true big screen.

If you find yourself sailing during the premiere of a highly-anticipated Disney film, you don’t have to worry missing out. It’ll be shown practically non-stop in the Buena Vista Theatre, likely following a huge “PremEAR at Sea” showing in the Walt Disney Theatre.

Goofy Golf and Sports Deck

If you prefer your entertainment to be a bit more active, there’s plenty of great recreation to be had on Goofy’s Sports Deck , located on Deck 13 aft.

One of my absolute favorite things to do onboard the Disney Fantasy is to play a round of Goofy Golf. The nine-hole course features plenty of terrible puns, which is right on par (see?) with my terrible sense of humor. It’s completely free to play and you don’t need to reserve a tee time. Just grab a putter and a goofball, er, golf ball — and perhaps a scorecard/pencil if you insist on keeping things official. More hard-core mini-golfers will appreciate that each hole offers two tee locations — one just for fun and one for a slightly more challenging experience.

Elsewhere on the sports deck, you’ll find other, more mainstream pursuits, such as a basketball court and even a digital sports simulator (fees apply).

Down on deck 4, you’ll also find shuffleboard courts — a classic cruise activity.

If it’s your first time on the Disney Fantasy, I highly suggest setting aside some time on the first few days of your cruise to play the Midship Detective Agency activity that’s offered onboard. Not only is it tons of fun, but it’ll also send you all over the ship — a great way to get your bearings and discover things you might have missed otherwise.

Your adventure starts on Deck 5, where you’ll visit a kiosk to pick up a “badge,” a deck plan / casebook, and instructions on where to find your first clue.

This extensive activity has you seeking out more than 20 interactive artwork displays to find clues and stolen items. Thanks to random gameplay events and “choose your own adventure” dilemmas, it’s easy to play this over and over without getting bored.

Depending on the agency’s caseload, you might help Mickey and pals recover some stolen paintings, try to find 99 missing Dalmatians, or follow Pepe the King Prawn’s clues to solve a zany Muppet mystery. The Muppet case is my favorite! See if you can find Pepe the King Prawn’s stateroom door on Deck 5.

Don’t have a ton of time to commit? No worries. Your detective badge tracks your progress, so you can play at your own pace, starting and stopping as you like.

Disney Fantasy Spas and Salons

Disney Fantasy offers a full-service spa onboard the ship, featuring many other health and wellness services.

Senses Spa and Salon

Pamper yourself with spa treatments, salon services, and rejuvenation procedures at this restful retreat onboard Disney Fantasy. Some of the services offered at the spa include Swedish massages, aroma stone therapy, deep tissue massage, acupuncture, facials, teeth whitening, shampoo/cut/style, manicures, pedicures, and more. Even those who aren’t into spa treatments might still be interested in enjoying the Rainforest Room with its various themed shower settings. Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, showers, lockers, sandals, and robes round out the offerings. While prices are higher than at spas on land, many repeat cruisers feel that Senses Spa is worth the added expense .

Exclusively for guests aged 13-17, this special area of Senses offers treatments to teens. A parent or guardian must accompany the teen for the duration of the treatment ( solo and combined treatments are offered as an option).

• Fitness Center

Perhaps you’re a regular exerciser, or maybe you just want to offset several days of all-you-can-eat meals. Either way, you can stay in shape with the offerings at the Disney Fantasy’s onboard fitness center. Whatever your preferred equipment — weight machines, cardio equipment, ellipticals, treadmills, and others — you’re likely to find it here. If you prefer a group experience you can join a yoga, Pilates, or aerobics class. Or, opt for personalized one-on-one training and analysis with a professional trainer.

• Walking/Jogging Track

I enjoy a nice walk after dinner, so I appreciate that the Disney Fantasy offers an open-air covered walking/jogging track on Deck 4. I like that it’s low enough on the ship to offer some close-up ocean views — especially handy if you’re lucky enough to see wildlife such as dolphins playing alongside the ship. A leisurely stroll is perfectly fine, but jogging is also fair game here if you don’t want to miss your daily run while onboard. You might even recognize off-duty Crew Members getting a bit of exercise.

How much does a Disney cruise really cost?

With everything that's included on the sailings, you might be wondering how much a Disney cruise costs — and if you can afford one.

Cruises with Mickey Mouse and his pals range in price depending on many factors such as the embarkation port and destination, departure date, length of the cruise and cabin type you book. No matter which cruise you book, it will be pricey, like any Disney vacation. You'll have to determine what value you put on experiencing the "magic" of Disney.

To me, it's worth a lot. I've experienced all five ships in the Disney fleet and have sailed seven times to destinations around the Caribbean and the Mediterranean .

Here, I'm sharing how much a Disney cruise costs per ship and itinerary, any extras that are worth the additional fees and how to save money on a Disney cruise.

How much does it cost to go on a Disney cruise?

Let's be honest: A cruise on any Disney ship isn't cheap. Factors like cabin type and category, sail date, destination, length of cruise, traveling party size and if you're on a themed cruise can impact the overall cost. If you're trying to keep your costs lower, your best option is to pick a cruise on an older ship (Disney Wonder, Disney Magic, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy) or pick a shorter cruise length.

The cheapest Disney cruise we found cost $1,000 for an inside cabin for two people on a two-night sailing on Disney Wonder in Australia. That's $250 per person per night.

If you're looking for a cheap Caribbean or Bahamian sailing, consider a three-night Bahamas cruise on Disney Magic starting at $1,500 for an inside cabin for two people. This also equates to $250 per person per day. Add in drinks, specialty dining, souvenirs and other expenses, and you can expect to spend around $2,500 in total.

On a recent sailing on the Disney Dream , my family of three and I spent five nights at sea in a balcony room and paid a grand total of $4,514.06. This total included everything from the cruise fare and pre-night hotel stay to parking and spa services.

Some examples of starting prices for each ship and its major itineraries for an inside cabin or a balcony cabin are listed below so you can get a sense of pricing across the fleet. Prices are based on double occupancy.

Disney Cruises depart from 15 different ports around the world, but the major ones to think about from the U.S. include:

Depending on the cruise you pick, getting to and from the home port can be easy or take a little longer — and that can impact the total cost of your Disney cruise.

For instance, many people drive to Fort Lauderdale or Port Canaveral if they already live in the southern U.S. Driving can save money versus flying, and you might not have to stay in a pre-cruise hotel if you can drive right to the port.

You will have to pay to park at the port or at a third-party parking lot. While the off-site parking lots are often cheaper, you will need to think about how to get to and from the ship, tipping the porter or driver, plus the added time to get from your car to the ship.

On the other hand, if you are taking a cruise from an international destination or flying to a domestic home port, your costs automatically go up because of flights for your family, a pre-cruise hotel, meals before the sailing, and transportation to the ship and back to the airport.

What's included in the price of a Disney cruise?

You might pay a lot for a Disney cruise, but you get a lot for your money. The cost of a Disney cruise covers your onboard dining and most nonalcoholic drinks, an abundance of entertainment for kids and adults, onboard activities and transportation between cruise ports. Even most entertainment and food on Disney's private island Castaway Cay (and upcoming private island destination Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point) is part of the fare.

Entertainment

Most of the entertainment on board is included in the overall cost of your sailing. On your cruise, you can experience Broadway-quality shows inside the Walt Disney Theater, watch first-run movies from Disney's production companies (like Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars), listen to live music and participate in game shows in the adults-only lounges. Most itineraries feature a deck party with a fireworks show.

Kids can meet and play with their favorite Disney characters and participate in activities like karaoke. Family-friendly sun decks with pools, waterslides, splash zones and wading pools are also included in the cost.

Disney Cruise Line is known for its rotational dining evening dinner service. Families rotate through three onboard restaurants throughout the sailing, and your service team moves with you. Each of the rotational dining options is included in your cruise fare. One of the restaurants will be open for drop-in, sit-down meals during breakfast and lunch as well. Complimentary room service is available 24 hours a day.

On the upper decks, quick-service food stations, soft-serve ice cream and a buffet are available. Every Disney cruise also includes unlimited coffee, tea and soda.

Accommodations

Almost every cabin across the Disney fleet features Disney's distinctive split bathroom concept. One of the bathrooms has a vanity, sink and tub-shower, plus another bathroom with a vanity, sink and toilet. Each room also has a small refrigerator, safe and hair dryer.

Every child ages 3 to 17 will have access to Disney's kids clubs on board. Youngsters ages 3-10 can enjoy Disney's Oceaneer Club and Disney's Oceaneer Lab . Tweens ages 11-14 have access to Edge, and teens ages 14-17 can chill out in Vibe.

Each kids club has dedicated counselors and a host of activities every day. The best way to see the list of activities is to download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and scroll through the daily agenda. You can flag activities your kids want to attend, so you can get to the kids clubs before they start.

Adult-exclusive activities

Disney cruises are packed with family-friendly programming, but adults can find spaces and events geared just for them in the adult-only nightclubs and lounges on board. Live music, interactive games and shows are only some of the nightly activities.

Additionally, adults have a dedicated pool and hot tub area that includes a bar and coffee shop. (Drinks cost extra, but access is free). For those looking to stay fit while onboard, access to the fitness center is also included.

Castaway Cay

On most Bahamas and Caribbean sailings, you'll stop at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay . At the island, your family can enjoy the family beach or adult-exclusive beach (for those 18 and older).

Use of towels, beach chairs and shade umbrellas are complimentary, as are waterslides and splash zones. Live music and character appearances take place around the island. Kids and teen club activities are available on Castaway Cay — again, at no extra charge. Runners can participate in the Castaway Cay 5K and get a finisher medal.

When it's time to eat, three spots serve an included barbecue lunch, complete with soft-serve ice cream. Coffee, tea and fountain drinks are also included at Castaway Cay.

To get around the island, you can walk or use the complimentary trams.

Are there any extra Disney costs?

Even though many activities, dining options and entertainment are included in the cost of your cruise, you will find things to pay extra for on a Disney cruise. These may or may not be worth it for your family, depending on your budget and interests. Below is a list of things not included in your overall cruise fare.

Some of the cutest Disney activities are also ones that cost extra. Kids who want more time with the Disney characters might be interested in the Royal Court Royal Tea — a tea party with characters for kids ages 3 to 12. According to planDisney (Disney's online resource for vacation-planning tips) , the cost is $220 per child and $69 for anyone 13 and up. Each tea party includes a selection of tea and a two-course meal; every child gets an assortment of gifts.

Kids can also play dress-up and get a full regal or pirate (only available on Pirate Party Nights) makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, found on every Disney ship. Depending on the package you booked for your child, expect to pay $100 to $450 for each makeover.

Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy both have a virtual sports simulator that requires a reservation and a fee. You can play various sports, from football to golf, for either 30- or 60-minute time blocks. Cost varies based on time, sport and number of people playing.

Specialty dining and cocktails

Four specialty dining restaurants are offered across the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Exclusive to Disney Wish (and coming soon to Disney Treasure ) are Enchante and Palo Steakhouse. Expect to pay $60 to $205 plus an 18% auto-gratuity for a meal at Enchante; Palo Steakhouse is $50 for a prix-fixe meal, but an a la carte menu is also available.

On the four other Disney Cruise Line ships, Palo is also $50 for prix-fixe and offers an a la carte menu. An 18% auto-gratuity is also tacked onto your bill.

On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, Remy is also available, with the dessert experience starting at $65 without the 18% auto-gratuity, while brunch and dinner are $80 and $135 respectively, plus an additional 18% auto-gratuity.

On all ships, themed bars and lounges sling drinks. Because there's no drink package available through Disney Cruise Line, you will have to pay for each drink individually. The planDisney panel says the average drink can range from $6 to $20.

If you're looking for specialty coffee, tea or hot chocolate drinks, look for the Cove Cafe on all ships; there are also specialty counters off of the atrium on Disney Dream, Fantasy and Wish. These drinks cost anywhere from $5 to $8, depending on your order. You can also order alcoholic drinks from the coffee bars, which run the typical cocktail prices.

Outside the Walt Disney Theater or near the movie theaters on board each ship, you'll also smell the buttery goodness of freshly popped popcorn. You can buy the popcorn for an added fee to take into the shows with you. Additionally, there are some specialty popcorn buckets available for purchase on each ship; you can refill them for a discounted price every time you want to munch on the salty snack. (Specialty buckets purchased off the ships at a Disney resort or theme park are not eligible for a discounted popcorn refill.)

Additionally, each ship offers beverage-tasting seminars where you can learn how to make and taste a variety of cocktails in a given category. Seminars can range from $40 to $70 and last about an hour.

While crew gratuities on Disney Cruise Line are not included in the overall cost, some can be prepaid before you step onboard. These include gratuities to your dining room server, assistant server and head server, plus your cabin host. Disney recommends a gratuity of $14.50 per night per person, including infants and children in regular cabins. It's recommended that those in concierge cabins and suites pay $15.50, with the extra going to your cabin assistant host.

Gratuities that are not included can be paid on board. Such gratuities include anything extra you would like to give to your service team, tips on alcoholic beverages in the dining room, adult dining locations, room service and the spa. The concierge lounge team is also not included in prepaid gratuities for concierge guests, and Disney recommends $8 per night per guest.

Keep in mind that an 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar tabs across the ship and for spa services. To make it easy while on the ship, you can charge all your gratuities to your onboard account.

If you want to bring something home from your trip — whether from a port of call or from the onboard shops — you'll want to budget for that extra cost. Souvenirs off the ship can range from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars, depending on what you buy. Be prepared that some shops will only take local currency; purchases at Castaway Cay shops will be charged to your onboard account.

On the ship, easy-to-transport souvenirs included trading pins, magnets and apparel. These can range anywhere from $20 to $75. Other more expensive onboard souvenirs include jewelry, luxury brand purses and wallets, and art.

How do I save money on a Disney cruise?

If you're reeling from sticker shock, know you can find many ways to save money on a Disney cruise. Here are a few of my favorite money-saving tips.

Letting Disney choose your cabin can be a great way to get a deal on the cruise. These are known as guaranteed rates, and they are the cheapest fares in each category. All you have to do is pick your room type, such as inside, ocean view or balcony, and Disney picks which specific room number you get. This works best if you don't care where your room is on the ship.

If you're looking for a room upgrade , but that's not a make-it-or-break-it deal for your family, consider waiting to upgrade your room until you get to the port. If your cruise still has rooms available, you can ask at check-in about a room upgrade for a discount. The cost will be relative to the room type you originally booked and the room type you want to upgrade to. Sometimes, you can even upgrade to a concierge room or a suite, but you will need to get an early port arrival time to potentially score one of those upgrades.

Disney Cruise Line has one of the most generous alcohol policies of any big-ship cruise brand. At the start of your cruise, you can bring up to six cans of beer or two bottles of wine per person over 21 years old. Then, at each port, you can restock and bring the same alcohol allotment per person over 21 onto the ship to store in your room and enjoy. You might find that beer and wine are cheaper in port than on board — a smart way to save on your drinking expenses.

Are Disney cruises cheaper or more expensive than other cruise lines?

Other family-friendly cruise brands include Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line and MSC Cruises. While all of the family-friendly brands have pros and cons, picking the right one for your family can come down to a matter of cost. Disney is almost always the most expensive.

For example, we priced out a three-night weekend cruise departing on the same dates for Disney Wish and Royal Caribbean 's soon-to-debut Utopia of the Seas. We found that Disney was almost $500 more expensive for the same weekend, cabin type and length of sailing. Utopia of the Seas came out to $2,850.10 for two people staying in a balcony cabin, while the Disney Wish cruise, also in a balcony room, cost $3,337.20.

What Disney does best — and why many people choose to cruise with the brand — is it provides a high level of service to families, even those in the least expensive cabins. The crew on Disney ships goes above and beyond to make your vacation easy. I've seen everything from dining staff cutting kids' food and taking children to the bathroom to room hosts ensuring parents know about the parental locks on balcony doors (so kids can't just wander outside without an adult).

The extra amenities that Disney offers — such as Broadway-quality shows, character experiences and larger standard cabins — all bring the overall cruise cost up.

Disney also has a smaller fleet than all its family-friendly competitors, meaning there is less cabin inventory to sell. Plus, its ships generally carry fewer passengers. For example, Disney Wish, Disney's biggest ship, carries 4,000 people at full capacity; Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas can carry 7,600 guests at capacity. The low inventory combined with the high demand for Disney cruises means that Disney can charge higher fares and still fill ships.

Bottom line

Cruise fares with Disney can change based on factors like room type, travel party size and sailing date. The minimum price you can expect to pay for a cruise to the Caribbean or Bahamas starts at $1,500 for an inside cabin for two people on Disney Magic.

Disney Cruise Line includes a variety of dining experiences (including room service), soda, character meet-and-greets and Broadway-caliber entertainment in its fares; it also allows passengers to bring alcohol on board in every port of call. For these reasons, you don't necessarily have to spend much on board to have a fantastic vacation. The cruise can be a good value depending on the extras you choose to add.

The real question is whether you want to spend more on the base cruise fare to immerse yourself in the world of Disney versus paying less for another family-friendly cruise line.

The Disney Wish was launched in July 2022 as the fifth ship in the Disney Fleet.

For most of the year, the Disney Fantasy sails 7 night Caribbean cruises which alternate between Western and Eastern itineraries.

There are also some Disney Fantasy sailings for 5, 6, 8, and 10 nights.

All of the Fantasy cruises have at least one port stop at Disney’s Private Island Castaway Cay. This beautiful island in the Bahamas is a huge favorite amongst Disney guests.

One of the biggest factors which will influence the cost of your Disney Cruise is the type of stateroom that you select. You can choose from:

You have a choice of Eastern Caribbean cruise itineraries on the Disney Fantasy.

Most of the Eastern Caribbean cruises feature port stops in Castaway Cay, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, and St Thomas, US VIrgin Islands.

The moment you arrive at the Disney Fantasy you’ll know that you’re someplace extra special.  Crew members will be in the stunning main atrium to welcome passengers by name.  A bronze sculpture of Minnie Mouse takes center stage in the lobby.  The Art-Nouveau design complete with stained glasses chandelier is nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Animator's Palate:  Animator's Palate is a Main Dining restaurant located on Deck 3, Aft aboard the Disney Fantasy that serves dinner. Paying homage to the magic of Disney animation, Animator's Palate includes a unique dinner show starring some of your favorite Disney characters.

Enchanted Garden:  Enchanted Garden on the Disney Fantasy is a Main Dining restaurant located on Deck 2, Midship that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Inspired by the opulent gardens of Versailles, Enchanted Garden magically transforms from day to night.

Royal Court:  Royal Court is a Rotational Dining restaurant located on Deck 3, Midship aboard the Disney Fantasy that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Inspired by the classic Disney films Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping Beauty, the décor and atmosphere of Royal Court is especially beautiful.

Specialty Dining

Palo:  Palo on the Disney Fantasy is an Adult Exclusive restaurant located on Deck 12, Aft that boasts Northern Italian cuisine for dinner. Additionally, brunch is offered on select cruises. Reservations are required to dine at Palo and can be made online or upon boarding the ship. This restaurant is available for an additional cost.

Remy:  Remy is a lavish Adult Exclusive restaurant located on Deck 12, Aft aboard the Disney Fantasy. Offering the most upscale and romantic dining experience available onboard, the restaurant serves the finest in French-inspired cuisine for dinner. This restaurant is available for an additional cost.

Senses Juice Bar:  Replenish and recharge at this nutritious refreshment haven near Senses Spa & Salon. Serving blended beverages bursting with fresh fruit and vegetables, Senses Juice Bar provides a vitamin-infused, protein-filled boost after a vigorous workout or massage. This restaurant is available for an additional cost.

Preludes:  Preludes, a snack bar located just outside the Walt Disney Theatre, serves beverages and snacks for purchase during live show performances and movies.

Casual Dining

Cabanas:  Cabanas is an indoor/outdoor Casual Dining restaurant located on Deck 11, Aft on the Disney Fantasy that serves a culinary confection of fresh food favorites. At breakfast and lunch, Cabanas offers the finest in made-to-order dining; at dinnertime, the restaurant is transformed into a table-service dining room serving Main Dining delights.

Eye Scream Treats:  Inspired by the friendly, one-eyed monster Mike Wazowski from the Disney "Pixar animated feature Monsters, Inc., Eye Scream Treats offers soft-serve ice cream with plenty of popular sundae toppings.

Flo's Cafe:  Grab a quick bite to eat at Flo's Café, located near Donald's Pool on Deck 11. Themed to popular characters from the Disney "Pixar film Cars, like Luigi's Pizza, Tow Mater's Grill and Fillmore's Favorites, this quick-service eatery serves burgers, chicken tenders, pizza, fresh fruit, salads and sandwich wraps.

Frozone Treats:  Named after the ice-creating superhero in the Disney "Pixar movie The Incredibles, Frozone Treats mixes delicious fruit smoothies.

So, how much should you save to cover Disney cruise costs? The short answer: It depends.

No, that’s probably not what you want to hear, but it’s the truth. The price of a Disney cruise is going to be influenced by a variety of factors, including:

Where you’re going.

The trip’s duration.

Which Disney ship you’re on.

How many people you’re traveling with.

The type of stateroom you book.

Any add-ons or specialty bookings you choose.

If you’re looking for an all-out experience, it’s pretty easy to rack up a big bill. Disney cruises are well known as an expensive option, but tacking on high-end touches such as a concierge room and spa visits will really drive up the price.

The cheapest cruises you’ll find tend to sail from San Diego, and they’re the shortest trips as well. We searched for sailings across the calendar and found the cheapest rates rang in at $1,326 for two guests in an inside room on a three-night trip from San Diego.

In contrast, the most expensive cruise we found was a 10-night option that travels through Iceland, Norway, France and Denmark. The price tag came in at $6,489 for two guests in an inside cabin and rose to $28,089 for a concierge-level room.

There’s no denying that Disney cruises can be expensive. However, there are ways you can save money on your booking.

Find discounted sailings

This first option seems obvious, but you’ll want to specifically search for discounted sailings. Although Disney doesn’t always offer sales, if they are available, you'll find them on the Disney cruise line page — just click “Show special offer filters” when searching.

The special offers filter will let you know what types of discounts are available, like the example above promoting up to 35% off on select sailings.

Skip the add-ons

The base fare for these trips includes almost everything, so if you’re looking to drop the cost of a Disney cruise, consider avoiding add-ons. This means skipping out on things like wine tastings and specialty drinks as well as forgoing dinner at Palo, the adults-only Italian restaurant that comes with additional costs.

Instead, enjoy the plethora of complimentary activities, such as pools, movies, shows, karaoke, dancing and more. And when it comes to food and beverage, simply sip the included soda and coffee, eat the (already amazing) free food and don’t forget to order a Mickey ice cream bar with your complimentary room service.

Disney is notable in that it also allows you to bring your own alcohol on board. Each guest older than 21 can bring up to two bottles of wine or six cans of beer when they first board and at every port of call. Considering that alcohol on the ship can be pretty expensive, this is a good way to save money.

Use a promotion

Do you live in Florida or Southern California? Or perhaps you’re a member of the U.S. military ? If any of these apply to you, you may have special access to discounted Disney cruise prices.

You’ll be able to find these deals via that special offers filter shown above. For example, that three-night San Diego sailing mentioned above dropped from $1,326 to $1,164 once we selected the U.S. military filter.

Redeem points

Last, but certainly not least, is the option to redeem your points for a Disney cruise. While there’s no good way to transfer points directly, there are still ways you can use points toward your booking.

The most convenient way is by using a credit card that’ll wipe away your travel costs. Plenty of cards have this feature, but two fairly decent ones are the Bank of America® Premium Rewards® credit card and the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card . Both cards will allow you to redeem your points toward purchases at a rate of 1 cent per point.

Even better, these redemptions can be stacked with other discounts, allowing you to drop your costs even more. For example, a member of the U.S. military can redeem 116,400 Capital One Miles to pay for their entire cruise, an excellent double dip that saves money and miles.

The cost of a Disney cruise can vary dramatically based on your needs and sailing preferences. However, you should expect to spend at least $1,000 on a cruise for two passengers. The price goes up from there depending on your cabin selection, trip duration and destination choices, among other options.

The 2012-built MS Disney Fantasy cruise ship is Walt Disney 's second (Dream-class) liner with sistership Disney Dream (2010).

The vessel (IMO number 9445590) is currently Bahamas- flagged (MMSI 311058700) and registered in Nassau .

History - construction and ownership

DCL-Disney Cruise Line is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company (shipowner). The company was incorporated in 1996 as "Magical Cruise Company Ltd". Walt Disney also owns the Bahamian private island Castaway Cay (exclusive port of call - for Disney ships only) and an exclusive Cruise Terminal at Port Canaveral (Orlando Florida) . Disney cruises are marketed as "family vacations" and feature unique and exclusive activities, such as costumed Disney Characters, adults-only deck areas, dedicated facilities for teens, kids and infants-toddlers, signature (trademarked) shipboard facilities and activities, themed live entertainment.

The 4000-passenger ship Disney Fantasy is no exception with its primary market being families with small children (especially with kids younger than 8) - the major revenue provider for the unique Walt Disney company. MS Disney Fantasy is almost 50% larger, 2-deck taller and with 44% bigger passenger capacity than the older fleet mates Magic and Wonder . The ship design is inspired by traditional 1920s ocean liners. The vessel features a navy blue hull, 2 bright red funnels, elegant Art Deco decorations and some of the most innovative technologies and fun ideas at sea, including:

• 22 pieces of "Enchanted Art" adorning the walls of hallways - paintings and pictures that are actually framed LCD screens with a technology to recognize guests present and proceeding with one of several animations;
• wave phones in every stateroom (used to call or text other guests) and effectively replacing the old onboard beeper system (now the counselors' messages come directly to the parents' phones);
• the Magical Portholes on the walls of all Disney Fantasy Inside cabins (LED screens showing a real-time view of the ship).

The CLIENTELE consists almost entirely of North American travelers (the USA and Canada). The new Disney Lines approach to teens and young couples (by age-related activities and limited access onboard venues) adds a really strong appeal for multi-generational cruisers.

The DRESS CODE is similar to that of the Disney luxury resorts - day casual and evening resort casual (men - jackets (no ties) and pants, women - summer dresses). All Disney Fantasy sailings include one pirate and one semi-formal night. On 3-day Disney Fantasy cruises, one night is casual, 4-day sailings are with 2 casual evenings and on 5-day voyages 3 nights are casual.

Disney Fantasy TIPS (totaling the US $12 PP per day) are given to waiters (including the assistant waiters) and to cabin attendants. Additionally, a 15% gratuity on all drinks is automatically charged to guests' shipboard accounts.

Decks and Cabins

Most Disney Fantasy staterooms (1250 total, in 28 grades) are 205-255-ft2 Balconies. The ship has 21 Suites, 887 Balcony, 199 Oceanview and 150 Inside cabins. The largest accommodations are the Concierge Royal Suites (900 ft2 / 84 m2 plus 885 ft2 / 82 m2 terrace).

Disney Fantasy ship cabins are very well planned and equipped. Like on all Disney ships, Disney Fantasy staterooms are some of the industry's largest standard cabins, most of them designed to easily accommodate four passengers. Some of the best Disney cabins features are the ample closet space, the normal-sized living space and the split bathrooms (1 room with shower-bathtub-sink and a separate toilet and sink). Beds on Fantasy are raised to allow storing 2 medium-sized suitcases underneath, staterooms also got 2 vanities, a 22-inches smart HDTV, an iPod docking station and 2 rechargeable "Wave Phones" to be used ship-wide. The Disney Fantasy Inside cabin has a most innovative feature (and the industry's first, for that matter) - the Magical Portholes, which are LCD screens (above the beds) in the shape of portholes, projecting a real-time view outside the ship (provided by cameras). Veranda cabins feature 2 chairs and a small table on the balcony.

Concierge Suites and Concierge Family Cabins (Deck 11-12) are new for the line, offering direct access to the ship's concierge facilities (1 small lounge, a private sun deck area with chairs, free food and drinks). Most of the 1-bedroom suites are with connecting doors (1 queen bed, a sitting area with a double convertible sofa, 1 pull-down bed in the living rooms, a walk-in closet, 2 bathrooms (one with a hot-tub).

The largest Disney Fantasy stateroom, the Royal Suite, adds to all previously mentioned a living room, a wet bar, a kitchenette, media library and a Jacuzzi on the balcony.

The boat has 14 decks , of which 9 are with cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

The Disney Fantasy three themed main restaurants are called "Animator's Palate", "Enchanted Garden" and "Royal Palace". There are 2 adults-only specialty restaurants - "Remy" (named after the "Ratatouille" movie star, French cuisine) and "Palo" (Italian cuisine) as alternative dining options. The line's Rotational Dining system allows you to rotate to each of the three main restaurants each night while your servers follow you. The Animator's Palate has screens showing animated Disney characters and themes from "Finding Nemo" movie. The Enchanted Garden is a Versailles-inspired room, featuring lighting effects, transforming day into night. The Royal Palace is princesses-themed with numerous portraits of "Cinderella" and the "Sleeping Beauty" movie characters (even the bread baskets are shaped as the Cinderella's coach). The food quality is very good, the service staff is amicable and timely.

The Remy specialty restaurant is a classy place to be on any special occasion, offering a marvelous French menu and charging serious prices - a service fee of $75 PP (reservations are required, along with the formal dress code), drinks and wine are additional. The Palo restaurant is an Italian (Mediterranean) eatery with $20 cover PP (serves dinner and on selected days - Champagne brunch). Superb fish and seafood entrees, a cold buffet (meats, cheese, shrimp, salads and desserts) and several hot made-to-order items. The "Cabanas" casual dining complex on Deck 11 has several food and drink stations for hot and cold buffet items (including made-to-order omelets and sandwiches). The "Flo's Cafe" offers burgers, chicken fingers, wraps, pizza, salads.

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

The Disney Fantasy kids cruise fun clubs are the main reason for the line's high loyalty passengers ratio. Besides all the Disney characters and most innovative technologies and fun attractions on ships, the Disney children counselors are a pretty big reason many families to repeat their visits. Always smiling and friendly, they are hugely experienced, all college-educated, attentive and downright. The Oceaneer's "Club" and "Lab" facilities (ages 3-10) are connected, thus doubling the fun space. The "Oceaneer's Club" features the "Andy's Room" (with oversized Disney characters for kids to climb on) and the "Laugh Floor" (with its "laugh-o-meter" and Mike and Sully of "Monsters Inc"). The "Oceaneer's Lab" is maritime-themed, featuring an Animator's Studio and a small Sound Studio. The new Disney approach allows all kids ages 3-10 to access the same clubs with separate rooms and age-related activities.

The Fantasy ship children club is called "Edge" (ages 11-13) properly secluded on Deck 13 in the funnel. Best attractions here are the 18 ft (5,5 m) tall LCD wall, the video karaoke, and numerous interconnected PCs. The teen-only "Vibe" club (ages 14-17) is of 9000 ft2 (836 m2), with a fountain bar and its own sun deck and pools.

Public spaces are decorated in deep blue and red, with numerous "Mickeys" just about everywhere (cabin, artwork, dinnerware, railings). One of the ship's most memorable places is the 3-deck high Atrium lobby with its golden hue, the wide royalty-style winding staircase, and the Donald Duck bronze statue. The Fantasy Atrium is a hub area connecting restaurants, theaters, and shops. You may check emails in the Internet cafe, but there's also a Wi-Fi coverage throughout the ship. Like all Disney ships, Fantasy has no casino.

• Fun activities on board

All Disney stage shows feature intricate sets and Disney themed captivating performances, and the big place for grand entertainment is the Disney Theater with goldies like the "Golden Mickeys" and "Villains Tonight", new amazing stage productions, like the "Disney's Believe" (directed by Gordon Greenberg) and all the best Disney movies in 3D. The themed Disney characters onboard have always been the greatest sensation of all, and there are countless opportunities to meet and greet Mickey and company around the ship - in contrast to Disneyland, here they all are accessible and will always stop for a hug and a photo with you. Another big success is the "Pirates in the Caribbean" kids party divided into two programs - the sing-along called "Mickey's Pirates in the Caribbean" followed by the "Club Pirate" (with many special effects) and great Disney fireworks between the shows.

• SPA and FITNESS, pools, waterslide, technology

The "Senses" Spa & Salon offers all the usual treatments (haircuts, manicures) and more exotic choices (hot-stone massages, mud baths). The "Chill" is a teen-only Spa within the facility. The Fitness Center along with the usual equipment offers at additional fee Yoga and Pilates classes. The Sports Deck has a small sports court, a mini-golf course, Ping-Pong tables, a walking/jogging track.

The pool deck has a large area for family fun water activities, featuring 2 hot tubs and 2 kids pools - "Donald's" (5 ft deep) and "Mickey's" (with a spiral slide). A big attraction here is the big LED screen mounted on the funnel. There's a toddler splash area (Nemo themed) located in the center on Deck 11 with huge glass panes for parents to monitor their kids.

The AquaDuck waterslide. The ever first water-coaster at sea is located atop the ship, featuring a 765 ft (233 m) long 4-decks high transparent tube, reaching the incredible 150 ft (46 m) above the ocean (there's a 42 inches (107 cm) height requirement). The "Nemo's Reef" is a small kids waterpark. And while speaking of water and pools - the adults only "Quiet Cove" pool area is a great place to hide from all the little angels and devils around the ship.

The Walt Disney ship Fantasy is the company's fourth (currently newest) liner, with sistership Disney Dream . Each vessel is 40% larger in size than the 2 older Disney ships Magic and Wonder . While its capacity (at double occupancy) is 2500, Fantasy can accommodate up to 4000 passengers at full/max occupancy (all berths).

The vessel (Mayer Neptun yard/hull number 688) is powered by MAN B&W marine diesel engines (3x 12-cyl, 2x 14-cyl) plus diesel generators (3x 14,4 MW, 2x 16,8 MW) with total power output 76,8 MW. The propulsion system is electric (based on two converteam propulsion motors) with total power output 26 MW, plus two FPPs (5-blade Fixed-Pitch Propellers/inward-turning).

The vessel was ordered on February 22, 2007. Ship design was announced on Oct 29, 2009, and the first steel cut was in March 2009. The vessel's construction started with the keel-laying ceremony held on February 11, 2011. The launch (float-out from drydock) was on January 8, 2012, and the ship was officially delivered to The Walt Disney Company on February 9, 2012 (at Port Bremerhaven ).

The inaugural call at Port NYC New York (first arrival in the USA) was on February 28, 2012. The liner was christened in NYC on March 1st (2012) by Godmother Mariah Carey (1970-born US singer, actress, record producer, entrepreneur). The hull's stern character is the Flying Elephant Dumbo.

The Disney ship's namesakes are Carnival Fantasy (1990-built) and the cruise ferries Color Fantasy (2004) and Moby Fantasy (2023).

One of the most visited attractions on MS Disney Fantasy is the AquaDuck. This water park with a slide will throw you into the swimming pool after a craziest spin in a long tube over the very ocean. How Much Does a Disney Cruise Cost? 2024 Pricing Explained

The Disney Wish will sail its inaugural season of three- and four-night cruises to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, from its new home port of Port Canaveral, Florida.

Disney Cruise Line offers a variety of Disney-themed ships with all-inclusive cruises traveling all over the world. Disney Cruises often Broadway-caliber dinner shows, Disney lounge-themed experiences, character meet and greets, and other themed experiences. Disney Cruise Cost Pricing Explained 

Let's start by covering the details of how Disney Cruise costs are calculated between room pricing and cost per person. 

Disney Cruise Room Pricing

All Disney Cruise costs are priced based on two adults in the stateroom (room on the ship). This means that one adult traveling with a child (ages 3-12) is the same price as two adults (13 and up) in the room. Children ages 0-2 pay 50% of the child rate.

After the two adult prices, the third and fourth passengers in the stateroom are charged a lower rate. If you are traveling alone, Disney Cruise Line will charge you 100% of the second adult’s cruise fare (not including port fees and taxes) in addition to the full fare for the first adult.

Pricing Per Adult

Which Disney Cruise Should I Do?

The first couple of factors to consider when deciding to book a Disney Cruise and cost are where you want to go and what ship you want to sail on.

Disney Cruise Ships

Disney currently has 6 signature cruise ships with more on the way.

The newest cruise ship available right now is the Disney Wish, but the Disney Treasure begins sailing in December of 2024, and it is almost time to start booking!

Each Disney ship is decked out from bow to stern in immersive Disney experiences. The experiences are going to differ depending on the ship, where it is sailing to, and if it is a themed expedition or not.

Disney Cruise Cost Factors

There are a few factors that will impact the cost of a Disney Cruise like time of year, location of the cruise, plus the Disney Cruise ship chosen.

Time of the year

Disney prices their cruises based on peak seasons. The more in-demand the cruise sailings are, the higher the pricing.

The first peak season is the most expensive. Think about when children are out of school, June – August. There is an increase in demand for ships and sailings, so the pricing also goes up. Alaska, and the Caribbean, are usually priced high during this time. Europe and the Panama Canal are usually only offered during these peak seasons.

Holidays are another popular peak season. The Bahamas and the Caribbean are going to be more expensive during these times because families will want shorter cruises, which are offered to these two locations.

Off-season bookings will be cheaper, but keep in mind, that the weather may not be as cooperative depending upon the location you are sailing to.

When choosing locations for your cruise, a cruise to the more remote destination Alaska is going to cost more than sailing to the Bahamas from Florida.

Europe and the Panama Canal are usually only offered in the summer, which can drive up the price of the cruise.

When deciding on what you want out of your cruise, guests can choose from different night lengths.

Disney currently offers cruises in 1-3, 4, 5-6, 7 8-13, or 14+ lengths. The longer you cruise, the more expensive the cruise is going to be because more amenities are included and paid for in the cruise cost.

Specialty Cruises

Disney offers specialty cruises throughout the year. Each of these specialty cruises is going to include extra events, entertainment, dining specialties, and more that are factored into the higher costs.

Guests can book a Pixar Day at Sea, Marvel Day at Sea, Halloween High Seas, and Holiday-themed cruises.

Stateroom type

There are four different types of staterooms guests can book on the cruise ships. A stateroom is the cruise equivalent of your hotel room.

The most luxurious accommodations on the cruise and the most expensive. Each room has a large private verandah (balcony) and premium amenities and services included. Prices for this type of hotel room will be the most expensive out of all rooms on the ship costing upwards of $6,000 for a trip.

The most spacious non-concierge staterooms are in the Verandah category. Each room comes equipped with a private verandah (balcony), some with partial views of the ship and ocean. The space and balcony are worth the price increase if you are sailing on a longer cruise. This category is the second most expensive type of room to choose from and also tends to sell out the quickest. Pricing tends to start around the $3500 total mark for most cruise lengths and destinations. 

The oceanview room has more space than an inside room and also includes a porthole or two to be able to see the ocean. This is a great middle price on the cruise where you can still see the ocean passing by, but you don’t have the balcony to walk out on. This type of room falls in the middle pricing category. The cheapest cruises will come in around $2800 total but can go much higher depending on the length and destination.

The base accommodations feature no outside viewing as the rooms are on the inside of the ship. However, Disney provides a scenic porthole display of different images to make it not feel as claustrophobic. These will be the absolute cheapest rooms due to not having an actual window or balcony. If you want to go on a Disney cruise, but your family is on a strict budget, these rooms will be the cheapest, averaging around the $2,000 – $4,000 range. 

Transportation To Port

By far the biggest factor that will vary for each family going on a Disney cruise is the transportation to the Departing Port.

You will need to provide your own flight, take a train, or drive to the port that you are leaving from. This cost is going to vary widely depending on where you live versus where you need to leave from.

We also recommend arriving the day before the cruise is set to depart so there are no delays in boarding the ship at your arrival time. This is going to cost a night at a nearby hotel, which adds to the overall budget for your cruise.

Certain cruises only depart from specific locations. You can filter this when you are searching to book your cruise.

When planning your destinations for your cruise, it is helpful to know where you are going to sail from. The majority of the Bahamas and Caribbean cruises are going to leave from the two ports in Florida, but they also depart from Texas. The Alaskan cruises sail from Vancouver, Canada.

The cheapest way to book transportation is to filter the cruises by which port is closest to you and see which destinations are available. Or, you can filter by destination and then see which ports are the closest to you to help keep costs down.

Keep in mind that if you drive to the port, this will be an additional cost to park your car at the port as well. The fee will be nightly similar to an airport.

What is Included in the Disney Cruise Cost Base Price?

A big question is what do I get for the price tag I see on the Disney Cruise Line website?

When booking your Disney Cruise, you are not just paying for a hotel room like many other vacations. You are paying for an all-inclusive Disney Experience . For every Disney Cruise booked, you can expect the following accommodations, activities, and amenities.

Room type chosen

Guests can choose from 4 different stateroom types:

• Concierge – Most expensive and most luxurious
• Verandah – Popular and mid-level pricing
• Ocean View – Mid-level pricing
• Inside – Cheapest book and smallest rooms

Three rotational table-service dining restaurants Buffet (for breakfast and lunch) Quick service bites

24-hour room service Unlimited soft serve ice cream Unlimited coffee, tea, and soda available on deck and at table service restaurants

On Ship Activities

Broadway-quality shows (original Disney products or live acts) Fireworks at Sea (available on most itineraries) Character meet and greets Movie screenings (first-run and popular Disney movies) Pools, waterslides, splash zones, and wading pools Gym and fitness center

What is Not Included in a Disney Cruise?

While Disney Cruises is great at including a lot of amenities in the total trip cost, there are a few extras that you may want while sailing on your ship.

• Port Excursions
• Premium desserts
• Premium coffee (at the Cove cafe)
• Meals at the adult-only Palo and Remy
• Gratuities – can be prepaid
• Wireless Internet Access
• Baby Nursery (6 months -3 years)

All of these items should be considered when pricing out your Disney Cruise so that you do not have any unexpected costs.

Menus for restaurants are available on the Disney Cruise Line Website, so you can see if you want to eat somewhere not included in the base price.

Port Excursions are also booked ahead of time, so you can prepay these items and include them in the final cost of your cruise.

Gratuities Explained

On a cruise ship, it is customary to give gratuities in recognition of exceptional service. Disney recommends a gratuity amount of $14.50 USD per night, per stateroom Guest, including infants and children or $15.50 USD per night, per stateroom Guest for concierge and suites.

Pre-Paid Gratuities are distributed to the Crew Members who take care of you in the following roles:

• Dining room server
• Dining room assistant server
• Dining room head server
• Stateroom host

Easily pre-pay gratuities online to create a carefree, all-inclusive experience by visiting My Reservations in your Disney account and following the prompts for Pre-Paid Gratuities. If you do not pre-pay before boarding the ship, Disney automatically charges your onboard account the suggested gratuity amount. Once on the ship, you can adjust the amount of your Pre-Paid Gratuities by visiting Guest Services prior to the end of your cruise.

Pre-Paid Gratuities do not include the following gratuities, which are either included in the charge or based on your discretion:

• Extras added to rotational dining meals such as alcoholic beverages
• Adult dining locations such as Remy, Palo, Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement, which are not part of rotational dining
• Food or drink in shops and outdoor or poolside eateries
• Room service
• Port Adventures
• Senses Spa & Salon
• Concierge Lounge Team—Guests staying in Concierge accommodations are recommended a gratuity amount of $8.00 per night, per stateroom Guest
• Any other additional services
• An 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine, deck service tabs and spa services. All gratuities can be charged to your onboard account.

Disney’s Private Islands

When sailing on a Disney Cruise, one of the locations you will visit on your travels during a Bahamian cruise is one of Disney’s Private Island’s Castaway Cay and coming soon Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Castaway Cay is the perfect beach getaway. Amenities on the island include

• A family beach

Breakdown of Pricing

This section of our article is going to take a look at the specific pricing of specific cruises to help estimate Disney Cruise cost. The three most popular Disney Destinations are the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Alaska, so that is what pricing we are going to focus on.

Disney Cruise On a Budget

If you really want to go on a Disney Cruise and stick to a budget, the 3-night and 4-night cruises are going to be the best option. Depending on how far from your destination you are traveling, the amount of time on the ship versus in a port will vary. The Bahamas destinations are going to offer more time in ports where Caribbean cruises will be more time on the boat.

The cheapest room option on a cruise is always the interior room. However, these rooms don’t have actual windows and can make a very tight space for a family of four, which we are basing all of our pricing on. If possible, spring for at least an Oceanview room where you are guaranteed at least one actual window.

Another way to stay on budget is to adjust the dates. In the tables below, you will see different dates and different ships will provide cheaper options. Cruises during February, August, and September tend to be cheaper, similarly to a Walt Disney World Vacation, whereas cruises during holiday seasons (Spring Break, Christmas, New Years, Halloween, etc.) are going to be more expensive.

Mid-Range Disney Cruise Pricing

A 5 – 6 day cruise is a great mid-price range budget. Typically with these cruises you will have enough time to explore the ship while also getting at least two, if not three days in a port of call to explore your destination.

For the longer 5-6 day cruises, we recommend the oceanview or verandah rooms. To keep the budget down and get to experience more for your money, avoid booking the concierge rooms at these middle price points.

Another great way to spend your money is to book one of the themed cruises. Guests can book the Marvel Day at Sea, a Halloween Cruise, or a Merry Christmas Cruise. The prices are going to be higher for these themed cruises even if they are only 5-6 days long, but you get a lot more special activities.

No Restrictive Budget Pricing

The longer cruise you book, the more ports you can stop at and the greater chance you have to stretch your days at sea to fully explore all that the ship has to offer.

The longer the cruise, guests can also experience more themed Disney nights and formal nights as well. This can make the cruise an extra special vacation due to all of the extra magic you are receiving.

Our recommendation for rooms on a cruise any longer than 5 days is to book at least a verandah room if not the concierge rooms. This is going to provide the most space for the times when you need to escape from the hustle and bustle of the ship.

In addition to the longer cruise, specialty cruises can also be booked during peak times if you don’t have an incredibly restrictive budget.

• Despite your extensive Disney Cruise planning and preparation , you will still be overwhelmed (with excitement!) when first getting onto the ship.
• There is no one directing you where to go or what to do first once stepping foot onto the ship. My recommendation is to print off a map of the Fantasy ahead of time. Then, make your way to the lunch buffet at Cabanas restaurant immediately upon boarding.

Disney Fantasy Cruise tips: Sailing away

• In cruise terminology, “Forward” is the forward part of the ship, and “Aft” refers to the back of the ship.
• In cruise terminology, “Port” is the left side of the ship as you face forward. “Starboard” is the right side of the ship as you face forward.
• Your Disney cruise stateroom will not be ready for you to use until around 1:30 PM. You will be informed via a general overhead announcement. This means having to make your way around the ship with your carry-on items and continue wearing the clothes that you came in until allowed into your stateroom.
• For this reason, pack swimsuits and sunscreen if you hope to lounge around outside on the pool deck until your stateroom is ready.
• Disney Cruise staff will be walking around before you are allowed into your stateroom selling water bottle and drink packages (beer and wine) that will then be delivered to your room.
• For the best view, watch the Sailing Away party that is held on the main pool deck from the deck above the party. Deck 10 on the Magic and Wonder, Deck 12 on the Dream and Fantasy.
• Disney Cruise staff walk around handing out drinks during the Sailing Away Party but take note, they are not free. We found the drink packages unnecessary when considering the carry-on alcohol policy .

Disney Fantasy Cruise tips: Your stateroom

• There is plenty of storage space once inside your stateroom. Dresser drawers are deep, the beds are high enough to fit/store a suitcase underneath, and the ottoman top comes off and has storage inside.
• No need to worry about assembling additional sleeping space each night. Turn down service is performed every evening and your beds will be all ready for you upon returning to your stateroom each night.
• The porthole windows in the Oceanview staterooms are HUGE, provide excellent views, and let in lots of sunlight (the window sill is actually a bench that 2 small children can sit in). Do not shy away from these rooms if you don’t want to pay the price upgrade for a stateroom with a verandah.
• On the Dream and Fantasy, your cabin light switch is activated by your Key to the World Card. You can also place a library card or other card in it for convenience.

Disney Fantasy Cruise Tips: Getting around

• Most people tend to use the large, main stairways instead of the elevators to travel between floors on the ship.
• Even though the ship is huge, you will get a general feel for the layout once you’ve been on it for 2-3 days. I would not let kids roam alone however, for it can be confusing how to get to and from places.
• Make your own or purchase personalized door magnets from an Etsy shop to put on the outside of your stateroom door. Most people do so and you will regret not doing it if you don’t. This also helps children recognize your stateroom door among the thousands of other look-alike doors.
• We did not participate in the ‘fish extender’ tradition and didn’t feel that we missed out, or wish that we had.

Disney Fantasy Cruise Tips: Dining

• Main Dining reservations begin at 5:45 PM with evening showtime starting at 8:30 PM. Second Seating dining begins at 8:15 PM with even showtime starting beforehand at 6:15 PM. (Double-check exact time per your itinerary.)
• You may make requests for your dining time preferences through a Disney reservation agent, as well as again when you check-in at the cruise terminal.
• Your Key to the World Card is coded with your reservation information and table number, as well as has an acronym on the front that depicts the order of the restaurants that you have been assigned to visit i.e. AERA (Animator’s Palate, Enchanted Garden, Royal Table, Animator’s Palate).
• You can also speak with a Disney reservation agent to request which restaurants you’d like to repeat eating at during longer itineraries.
• Many little girls dress up as princesses for dinner.
• The non-alcoholic drink that you order for dinner the first night of your cruise will be automatically waiting for you at your table upon arrival to a restaurant on consecutive evenings. i.e. If your child orders lemonade on the first night, a lemonade will already be on the table for them upon arrival to evening dining the next night.
• Disney Cruise Line serves Coke products.
• Soda is free 24-hours a day at the soda stations on the pool deck.
• Room service is quick and Mickey Ice Cream bars are the most popular item to order. We ordered them every night before bed.
• Remy and Palo are great ‘date night’ options but do know that the food costs are extra and are not included in the Disney cruise fare .

Movies, Shows, and Celebrations

• The evening shows are as amazing as everyone says. Do not miss one despite being tired at the end of the day. In my opinion, the evening shows are just as good, if not better, than versus Disney World !
• Watching a movie in the Buena Vista Theater is a great way to take a break during a hot and sunny day.
• The popcorn and snacks available outside of the movie theater are very tempting but do cost extra money (and are spendy!).
• You can bring food from elsewhere on the ship (pizza, chicken strips, snacks, etc.) into the theater.
• Every cruise has a pirate night and most people dress-up. A red pirate bandana is placed in your stateroom for each member of your party. If you don’t have a costume, wear the bandana somehow (hair tie, necktie, on your head, etc).
• Kids love the self-guided Midship Detective Agency game that is available on the Disney Dream and Fantasy. There are two locations where you can start the game at a Detective Agency booth; Deck 2 near Enchanted Garden, and Deck 5 near “It’s a small world” nursery.
• Make note of when the evening Captain’s Reception is and be sure to attend. Kids can attend too. (Adults are given a free alcoholic drink.)
• Do not miss pre-booking a Disney Character VIP Breakfast during online check-in. Though it costs extra, it is well worth it! Kids can take photos with all of the Disney characters.
• On the day of departure, be sure to attend the See Ya Real Soon Farwell party . It is awesome! (Strange how not many people attend, probably because they’re busy getting packed up.)

Activities and Excursions

• The pools on the cruise ship are not big and are mostly shallow. They are more like ‘wading pools’.
• Long waits accumulate for the Aquaduck waterslide . Get in line 10-15 minutes before it opens each morning for little to no wait.
• On port days, many announcements regarding shore excursions, etc. will be read via an overhead speaker system. Listen carefully as valuable information is shared, as well as when guests are required to return to the ship.
• As you get off of the ship to spend the day on Castaway Cay (pronounced ‘key’), there will be beach towels to grab as you get off of the ship.
• Purchase the Castaway Cay Getaway Package . It is well worth it. We found the bikes to be the best as there are family-friendly biking trails that take you around the entire island.

Disney Fantasy Cruise Tips: Departure

• You have to place your suitcase out in the hallway the night before you get off of the ship. MAKE SURE you save out clothes to wear the next day as well as all of your carry-on and necessity items.
• Bring a spare emergency credit card in case your company freezes yours (if seeing international charges).
• Settle your on-board account the evening before departure. The line for doing so on the morning of departure gets very long.

Disney Fantasy Fun Facts

The Disney Fantasy sails out of Port Canaveral, Florida on popular seven-night Caribbean itineraries. The itineraries alternate between the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

All of the Disney Fantasy cruise itineraries include a stop at Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay.

• The Disney Fantasy first sailed in 2012.
• It was the 4th ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet after the Disney Wonder, Disney Magic, and Disney Dream.
• The Disney Fantasy is 1,115 feet long and 125 feet wide.

How Much Does a Disney Cruise Line Vacation Cost?

Wondering how much a Disney Cruise Line vacation cost? We break down the specifics to help guide you through what you need to know.

Planning a Disney Cruise Line vacation can be a bit overwhelming. Whether it’s choosing your ship or the time of year you want to sail, you’ll find no lack of choices with Disney cruises. 

In this guide, we will break down how much an average Disney Cruise Line vacation can cost. Additionally, we’ll look at how the price can differentiate depending on which ship and time you sail, and other amenities and add-ons. 

How Much Does a Disney Cruise Line Sailing Cost?

While this is a simple question, it is not so simple to answer.  When considering a Disney Cruise Line vacation you can book on one of five different ships: Disney Dream , Disney Fantasy , Disney Magic , Disney Wonder , and Disney Wish . (A sixth ship, Disney Treasure , will be joining the fleet in 2024 .)

Within each Disney Cruise Line ship, you will have the option of various types of rooms. These include an inside stateroom, a stateroom with a porthole, a stateroom with a verandah, and a concierge room. Or, on the ships where they are available, a specialty suite stateroom. 

Below is an outline of what each stateroom offers:

• Inside Stateroom : This type of stateroom is perfect for two to four Guests and includes all the necessities, such as a closet, drawers for your clothes, a bed, etc. There are no windows or ocean views with an inside stateroom.
• Oceanview Stateroom : This stateroom is the next level up from an inside stateroom and is also perfect for parties with two to four Guests. While you won’t be able to step out and feel the fresh breeze on your face, you will still be able to see the stunning ocean view through the in-room porthole.
• Oceanview with Verandah : Now, for those who want to get a bit more boujee, I recommend the Oceanview with a Verandah. Not only are these staterooms spacious, but they are perfect for parties between two and five people and offer a private verandah (also known as a balcony) so that you and your party can enjoy the fresh breeze and ocean smells all in your own private space.
• Concierge : Now we are getting into the royalty of Disney Cruise Line staterooms. A Concierge Suite is the biggest onboard accommodation and is perfect for parties of five to seven Guests. There are a number of different suite options, but all of them include a verandah. All Concierge-level staterooms offer personal attention from Concierge Services, making you feel like a King or Queen. 

But one of the most important factors in a Disney Cruise Line vacation is where the cruise ship leaves from, what the itinerary consists of, and the duration of the entire cruise. 

What we mean by that is – each of the Disney Cruise Line ships offers a different duration of sailing and a different itinerary. For example, the Disney Wish typically sails out of Port Canaveral, Florida on three- to five-night cruises to the Bahamas while the Disney Wonder offers longer cruises to places such as Alaska, Hawaii, and the Pacific Coast, and has departure ports in Canada, Australia, and other locations.

With all of this being said, the baseline of a Disney Cruise Line vacation can range anywhere from $1,300 (for a three-night sailing with an inside stateroom) to nearly $30,000 (for a 10-night sailing with a concierge-level room.) 

Cost of Booking a Disney Cruise

While that range is huge , what’s nice about the baseline pricing is that your room, and dining options are included in the base price. That includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the quick-service locations and main dining rooms, select snacks, entertainment, and activities on board.

For example, each night you will be assigned dinner in one of the three main dining rooms on your Disney Cruise Line ship . Anything you order (besides alcohol or specialty drinks) is included in the price of your cruise. This is in addition to any room service or quick-service locations on board that you may utilize for breakfast, lunch, or a late-night snack.

In addition to food, Disney Cruise Line offers state-of-the-art entertainment options every night during your sailing. This includes Broadway-style shows and live music in select lounges and bars. Movies will also be playing periodically throughout the day on both the Tunnel Vision (the outside screen by the pools) and in the Walt Disney movie theater. All of these entertainment options are included with the price of your cruise (plus, what’s a movie without popcorn? And yes, the popcorn is free, too!)

When you have decided on which ship and which itinerary you want to set sail on, you will be required to put down a deposit, and then you can make payments on your vacation until the full amount is due (typically a few months before your sailing.). After your cruise is paid in full, you can then begin booking extras aboard Disney Cruise Line, such as massages at the Senses Spa, wine and beer tastings, adult dining options, and more – which brings us to our next question. 

What is NOT Included in the Cost of Booking

While, for the most part, everything is included with the price of your cruise, some offerings come at an extra cost. Let’s break down some of what that entails.

Transportation and Parking at the Port

Parking fees at the departure ports can vary, depending on what state or country you are sailing out of. But, to give you an idea, parking at Port Canaveral, which is driving distance from Walt Disney World, is $17 per day plus tax.

If you are not looking to park your car at a cruise terminal, and are looking for a transfer, Disney Cruise Line does offer transfers to and from most airports and departure ports. For example, from Vancouver airport to the Vancouver cruise port, Disney offers transfers for $25 per person each way. Meanwhile, transfers from Disney World to Port Canaveral cost $39 per person each way. 

Specialty Dining, Non-Included Food and Drinks

While most food and soft drinks are included with the price of your Disney Cruise Line vacation, some options are not included, such as alcoholic beverages. On average, alcoholic drinks can range in price from $6 to over $20, depending on what you order.

While Disney does not offer an alcoholic drink package for the duration of your cruise, they do offer a Beer Mug special, Happy Hour specials, and a Sommelier Bin. Be sure to ask a Crew Member for the most updated information regarding these special offers once you are on board as they may vary from ship to ship or cruise to cruise. 

Disney Cruise Line also offers specialty dining, which is not part of the three main dining rooms that we mentioned before. These specialty dining options are for adults only, and while they cost extra money, it may be worth the price for an intimate night alone with your other half. Palo and Remy are the two adults-only restaurants on Disney Cruise Line.

Palo dining prices are set at $50 per person for either an all-you-can-eat brunch or a prix fixe dinner, while Remy dining prices are as follows:

• Dinner is $125 per person. 
• Brunch is $75 per person. 
• The Remy Dessert Experience is $60 per person.

When on a Disney Cruise Line, you can opt to pre-pay for gratuities for a carefree, all-inclusive experience. Pre-paid gratuities are for the following Crew Members who take care of you for the duration of your cruise:

• Dining room server
• Dining room assistant server
• Dining room head server
• Stateroom host

To pre-pay for gratuities, visit the My Reservations section in your Disney account and follow the prompts for Pre-Paid Gratuities. If you do not want to Pre-Pay Gratuities, Disney will automatically charge your onboard account the suggested gratuity amount of $14.50 per night, per stateroom Guest.

In addition to your dining staff and stateroom hosts, an 18% gratuity is automatically added to any bar, beverage, wine, deck service tabs, and spa services. If you order room service, add extras to your rotational dining, or visit one of the adults-only restaurants, gratuities are not automatically included.

Cost of Excursions

When sailing on Disney Cruise Line, you can book extras on board such as beer and wine seminars, spa services, and more. Additionally, off-board excursions such as kayaking, sightseeing, beach days, and more are offered. Each of these “extras” will cost you extra money, but the prices will vary depending on the type of offering or excursion. Be sure to check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app when looking at these offerings. 

Cost of Spa Services

Each Disney Cruise Line ship features a Senses Spa. Guests can choose from a multitude of spa and beauty treatments, including manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, and more. AAAHH , the Disney Fantasy ! Following a magical day of sunning, splashing, and dining aboard this beautiful Disney Cruise Line ship, the only thing left to do is settle into your stateroom to dream about the next day’s adventures!

Now, as far as I’m concerned, ANY stateroom on the Disney Fantasy is a great one… because it means you’re on the Disney Fantasy! That said, there are a LOT of stateroom options to choose from. And depending on the size of your group as well as your personal preferences, it’s best to know and understand all of the options and features of each room before you book your “home away from home” at sea.

To that end, we’re taking a look at ALL of the staterooms onboard the Disney Fantasy cruise ship. But first? A quick overview…

Disney Fantasy Stateroom Overview

The Disney Fantasy joined the Disney Cruise Line fleet as the fourth Disney Cruise ship, and it’s the sister ship to the Disney Dream (hence, it is known as a “Dream Class” ship). The Disney Fantasy’s maiden voyage set sail on March 31, 2012.

Did you know that Disney Cruise Line ships offer some of the largest staterooms in the cruise industry? • 199 of the outside staterooms offer ocean view windows;
• 901 staterooms offer verandahs (including 21 suites)

That said, even within those numbers, there are still more specific room categories. Let’s break it down, starting with the Concierge Level rooms.

BTW, you’ll notice a small series of letters or a number (or a combination of both) after the name of each style of room . These are the Room Categories on the Disney Fantasy for booking purposes.

Concierge Level

Concierge royal suite with verandah (category oor).

• Size: 1,029 sq. ft. including verandah
• View: Private verandah

The Concierge Royal Suites with Verandah are the largest and most luxurious suites aboard the ship. There are two on the Fantasy: one named after Walt Disney and the other after his brother Roy Disney.

Concierge Royal Suites with Verandah have two bedrooms (one with a queen-size bed; and one with 2 twin beds and 2 pull-down upper berths).

Guests will find 2.5 bathrooms (including whirlpool tubs), a living room, a media library complete with a wall pull-down bed, a “dining salon,” (ooh, la la!), a pantry, and a wet bar. The Royal Suites even boast walk-in closets!

Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Verandah (Category OOT)

• Size: 614 sq. ft. including verandah

Concierge 1-Bedroom Suites with Verandah offer guests one bedroom with a Queen bed in the bedroom, along with an additional double sofa bed and a Murphy bed in the living room. Each of the two bathrooms have a rain shower, while the Master Bath has a whirlpool bath. The 1-Bedroom Suites also feature a walk-in closet.

There are six Concierge One Bedroom Suites with Verandah on Deck 11, and thirteen on Deck 12 of the Disney Fantasy.

Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (Category OOV)

• Size: 304 sq. ft. including verandah

Concierge Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah feature a Queen-size bed, a double convertible sofa, an upper berth pull-down bed, a full bath (complete with a vanity, sink, round tub and handheld shower), and a half bath (with a vanity, sink and toilet).

This option can comfortably accommodate a family of five. (And a bonus is that the kiddos will very likely LOVE the upper berth pull-down bed!) Additional room features include a couch, a TV, and a desk (with upgraded furnishings). Another appreciated feature is the heavy privacy curtain that separates the seating area from the sleeping area.

All of these particular staterooms are located on Decks 11 and 12 (with 14 staterooms on Deck 12 and 6 on Deck 11).

Guests sailing concierge in all room categories, of course, have access to exclusive services and dedicated areas on the ship, as well as a sun deck available only via a private entrance. We discuss much more about sailing Concierge in this post .

Is Concierge Level Worth It on Disney Cruise Line?

Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah

Deluxe family oceanview stateroom with oversized verandah (category 4e).

• Sleeps: 3-4
• Size: 299 sq. ft. including verandah

Offering a Queen-size bed, single convertible sofa, and a split bath* with tub and shower, the Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms with Oversized Verandah boast larger balconies, and are only located on Deck 5. They are the same size and configuration as all of the Deluxe Oceanview Family Staterooms on the Disney Fantasy, BUT be aware that this particular room category only sleep 3 to 4 guests.

*Disney Cruise Line’s innovative “split bath” concept features a bathroom with a vanity, sink, shower and round tub, and a half bathroom with a vanity, sink and toilet. This offers travel groups the opportunity for two people to have their own space to get ready at one time.

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (Category 4A-D)

With a Queen-size bed (which can be converted into 2 twin beds, if preferred), a single convertible sofa, a wall pull-down bed, and an upper berth pull-down bed, Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah can sleep up to 5 people. Because they are so spacious, this is possibly one of the best options for a family that likes to spend some downtime in their room as well as exploring the ship.

This category also features the popular split bath (as discussed above), and the breakdown of Deck locations is as follows:

• Category 4A are located on Decks 9 and 10
• Category 4B are located on Deck 8
• Category 4C are located on Deck 7
• Category 4D are located on Deck 6

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Oversized Verandah (Category 5E)

• Size: 246 sq. ft.

Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms with Oversized Verandah offer a Queen-size bed (or 2 twin beds), a single convertible sofa, a wall pull-down bed and upper berth pull-down bed, as well as the split bath feature with a tub and shower (where the shower and toilet area are conveniently separate). Up to 5 passengers can share this space, and this is another great choice for families that plan to enjoy some time in their room.

These staterooms, by the way, are identical to the other Category 5 staterooms, but they offer a larger balcony. (Be aware, however, that some of the balconies have a white wall, as opposed to clear plexiglass.) Staterooms in this category are located on Decks 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (Category 5A-D)

• Size: 268 sq. ft. including verandah

Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah offer a Queen-size bed (or 2 twin beds), a single convertible sofa, a wall pull-down bed and an upper berth pull-down bed.

The split bath with tub and shower is also a feature here, and these staterooms will also sleep up to 5 people. Note that these staterooms are identical to the Category 6 Staterooms, except they have a clear Perspex Verandah wall.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (Category 6)

• Sleeps: 3 or 4

Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah offer a Queen-size bed (or 2 twin beds), a single convertible sofa, an upper berth pull-down bed (if sleeping 4), and a split bath with tub and shower.

The only difference from the higher (and typically more expensive) Category 5 is that these staterooms have a white wall balcony, while the others have a clear Perspex balcony wall. So, the practical difference is that you cannot see the ocean when you are sitting down on a white wall verandah, but you can on a verandah with a clear wall.

Now, does this make a difference? Well, from an enjoyment perspective, only you can make that call. But from a budget perspective, you may pay hundreds of dollars less for a white wall verandah as opposed to a clear one.

• Category 6A are located on Decks 8 and 9;
• Category 6B are located on Decks 5, 6 and 7.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom With Navigators Verandah (Category 7)

Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms With a Navigators Verandah offer a Queen-size bed (or 2 twin beds), a single convertible sofa, and a split bath with tub and shower. While there is little noticeable difference between Category 7 and Categories 5 and 6, it’s important to note the difference in the verandah. Though the verandah itself is the same size, it is enclosed with a very large, open air porthole to look through.

These staterooms are located on Decks 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

Ocean View Staterooms with Porthole Windows

Deluxe family oceanview stateroom (category 8a-d).

• Sleeps: 3 or 5
• Size: 241 sq. ft.
• View: One large porthole window

Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms offer a Queen-size bed (or two twin beds), a single convertible sofa, an upper berth pull-down bed (if sleeping 4), and the split bath with tub and shower. Here is a look at a stateroom with a large Porthole Window.

The Category 8 Staterooms are located either aft (in the back) or forward (at the front) of the ship. Locations are as follows:

• Category 8A are located on Decks 5 and 6;
• Category 8B are located on Deck 9;
• Category 8C are located on Deck 7 and 8;
• Category 8D are located on Deck 5 and 6

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom (Category 9A-D)

• Sleeps: 4 or 5
• Size: 204 sq. ft.
• View: One large porthole window OR 2 small porthole windows

Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms offer a Queen-size bed (or two twin beds), a single convertible sofa, an upper berth pull-down bed (if sleeping 4), and the split bath feature with tub and shower.

The Category 8 and 9 rooms are considered deluxe outside staterooms (which means that they have a large porthole window.) However, the Category 9 staterooms that are located on Deck 1 have two smaller porthole windows. At 204 square feet, these staterooms sleep 3 passengers (with some sleeping 4). And it’s especially helpful to know that these are among the first categories to book on the ship!

So, the Category 9 Staterooms all have a window, but there are differences to be aware of:

• Category 9A Staterooms have One Porthole Window and are located on Decks 5, 6, 7 and 8;
• Category 9B Staterooms have One Porthole Window and are located on Deck 2. These are noteworthy for their terrific location close to the inside amenities of the ship. (If you’d prefer to be closer to the pool decks, though, you’ll want to choose a higher deck.)
• Category 9C Staterooms have One Porthole Window with an Obstructed View and are located on 6, 7 and 8. The extent of the obstruction will vary, but be aware that you will have a view of at least part of a lifeboat out of your window.

Inside Staterooms

Deluxe inside stateroom (category 10a).

• View: No exterior view (but does feature a Virtual Porthole)

Deluxe Inside Staterooms on the Disney Fantasy offer a Queen-size bed (or 2 twin beds), a single convertible sofa, an upper berth pull-down bed (if sleeping 4), and split bath with tub and shower.

Though Inside Staterooms do not offer any exterior view, these cozy staterooms on both the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream have Virtual Portholes! Disney Cruise Line’s Virtual Portholes were a cruise industry first, offering real-time virtual views for the ship’s exterior reflecting your staterooms actual location on the ship! This unique (and frankly brilliant) feature serves a practical function in helping to alleviate potential claustrophobia. But wait… there’s more…

Virtual Portholes also enhanced as “Magical Portholes.” This means that, at any given moment, an “enchanting surprise” featuring a beloved Disney animated character or two may suddenly appear in the Porthole! (It’s SO! FUN!) And no worries about catching a little shut-eye with this feature, as this option can turned on or off with a switch.

Deluxe Inside Staterooms are located on Decks 5, 6 ,7, 8, and 9. Generally speaking, the higher up in the ship that your stateroom is positioned, the higher the price.

Standard Inside Stateroom (Category 11A-C)

• Sleeps: 3 or 4;
• Size: 169 sq. ft.

Standard Inside Staterooms offer a Queen-size bed (or 2 twin beds), and a single convertible sofa. Some offer an upper berth pull-down bed. These are the lowest priced staterooms on the ship… and are likewise the smallest. The other major difference between this category and the other available categories is that these staterooms do not have the split-bathroom design of the others. (Though each bathroom does have a tub).

The fabulous Virtual Portholes (I’m a little biased, because I LOVE THESE!) are included with Standard Inside Staterooms, as well.

• Category 11A are located on Decks 8, 9 and 10;
• Category 11B are located on Decks 5, 6 and 7;
• Category 11C are located on Deck 2

Before we sail away, it’s worth noting that Accessible Rooms are also available in the various categories. And while we’ve discussed the main room differences, ALL staterooms aboard the Disney Fantasy offer amenities including — but by no means limited to — an in-room safe, full-length mirrors, a refrigerator, a hair dryer, premium bedding, bath products, a flat-screen TV on swivel arm, and MUCH more.

Four Seasons says it will begin sailing an  ultra-luxury yacht cruise in January 2026.

The 222-guest vessel would have 95 spacious suites and 11 dining options — but food wouldn't be free.

The largest suite would have four floors and bedrooms, a spa, and a price of $350,000 per sailing.

Four Seasons plans to expand its high-end hotels and resorts portfolio with a luxury 222-guest cruise ship.

The company says the 95-suite vessel will debut in January 2026 and cost a minimum of $20,000 per weeklong sailing.

For that price, the luxury hospitality giant says travelers would enjoy a one-to-one guest-to-staff ratio and massive suites spanning as many as four floors. If all goes as planned, the 679-foot-long Four Seasons I could become one of the most expensive and opulent options in the cruise industry.

The ultra-plush 14-deck Four Seasons I is scheduled for 19 voyages in 2026 to more than 130 Caribbean and Mediterranean ports.

Reservations opened two weeks ago. Those interested can register to join a waitlist or book through a travel agent.

So far, "sales have been very encouraging, and the demand is exciting to see," Thatcher Brown, chief commercial officer and head of joint operations for Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings, told Business Insider in a statement. The company is a joint owner and operator of Four Seasons Yachts.

Renderings make the Four Seasons I look as opulent as the brand's land-based properties.

Four Seasons says its vessel will have 95 suites ranging from 537 to 9,975 square feet, some with three bedrooms.

The smallest suite starts at $19,700 for a five-night roundtrip voyage to Athens, Greece.

No windowless interior cabins here: Like other ultra-luxe cruises, the suites would all have terraces and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Customers could expect upscale amenities like a walk-in closet, down-filled duvets and pillows, and marble dual vanity bathrooms, per Four Seasons.

The most premium suites would also feature additional accommodations for "personal assistants," such as au pairs or security personnel.

Some options, like the 7,952-square-foot Loft Suite, could be adjoined with seven other cabins to accommodate up to 20 people.

Without connecting cabins, the Loft Suite would already have three bedrooms and bathrooms, a powder room, and a sauna.

Others, like the largest Funnel Suite, would have its own spa and kitchen.

Four Seasons says the 9,975-square-foot mansion, partially perched in the ship's glass-lined funnel , will span four floors, four bathrooms, three bedrooms, and three powder rooms.

Not to mention the private elevator, pool, and $350,000-a-voyage price tag.

Accommodations of this price and size are generally unheard of in the cruise industry.

Luxury operator Silversea says the largest suite on its upcoming 728-guest Silver Ray will be 1,324 square feet. Competitor Regent Seven Seas' new Seven Seas Grandeur debuted in 2023 with a more expansive six-guest 4,443-square-foot option.

Both suites' sizes and prices — Regent's starts at $42,000 per person for a total of $252,000 at maximum occupancy — would be stunted by Four Seasons' promise of a 9,975-square-foot, $350,000 floating mansion.

But cabins with six-digit prices aren't unheard of.

While not a luxury cruise line, Royal Caribbean's popular three-floor townhouse on the new Icon of the Seas is being booked at an average of $100,000 a week — although it's about four times smaller than Four Seasons' largest.

Royal Caribbean and other mass-market cruise lines are beloved, in part, for their unlimited complimentary food options.

Regent Seven Seas' all-inclusive fare also covers caviar, foie gras, and Champagne.

But don't expect any of these to be free on the Four Seasons I.

Breakfast would be complimentary. Lunch, dinner, and booze would not.

The vessel's 11 restaurants and lounges would be priced similarly to Four Seasons' on-land properties. (A dinner entrée at its resort on the Caribbean island of Nevis — also one of the ship's destinations — ranges from $34 to $163.)

The pricing structure may sound odd to most cruise traditionalists. (Hey, at least WiFi would be "free.")

But some of the ship's amenities could look familiar: Like most cruise liners, the Four Seasons I would have a pool, spa, and clubs for children and teens.

The company also promises a lounge and marina that will open onto the water, giving guests direct access to activities like snorkeling or windsurfing.

Four Seasons Yachts plans to take delivery of its $399 million vessel, now being built by famed Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, in late 2025.

A second Fincantieri-built ship would join the hospitality company's fleet the following year. The next vessel would cost more than 400 million euros, about $429.2 million, Four Seasons says.

This isn’t Four Seasons' first foray into itinerary-based vacations.

The company has also found "tremendous success" in its private jet-based "cruises," Alejandro Reynal, the president and CEO of Four Seasons, told BI in a statement.

Its 2024 vacation-by-air itineraries started at $135,000 for a 16-day Asia tour. Demand has been growing, he said, "signaling that luxury travelers are looking for immersive, exclusive, end-to-end travel journeys that allow them to explore the world with their favorite brands."

But its new ultra-luxe cruise arm would be entering an increasingly crowded luxury market, soon to be dominated by like-minded hospitality giants.

High-end Aman Resorts and Orient Express plan to launch their own luxury cruises in 2027 and 2026, respectively.

Staying ahead of the competition, Ritz-Carlton debuted its first 149-suite Evrima yacht cruise in 2021, with a second 224-cabin ship scheduled to begin sailing later this year. Its least expensive itinerary is currently $5,100 per person for a six-night voyage from Barbados to Puerto Rico in early 2025.

I’ve been on a lot of Disney cruises . In fact, I’ve been on almost every single Disney cruise ship (one more to go!).

But, it wasn’t until last year that I took my first ever week-long cruise. I had always stuck to 3- and 4-night cruises . Well, I had no idea that this is what happens on a 7-night Disney cruise.

There’s a lot of excitement on a long cruise but for just a portion of it, check out my PERFECT day during one of the at-sea days on my 7-nighter.

But here’s what I WASN’T expecting!

Rotating Rotational Dining and Activities

Disney cruises have a super fun way of doing dinners that they call Rotational Dining . Basically, each day of your cruise, you’ll rotate to one of three restaurants and you’ll rotate between those for the duration of your cruise. Now, on a shorter cruise, that means you’re only doubling up once, if at all.

But, with a week-long cruise, you’ll find yourself at each rotational dining spot twice and one of them another time on top of that. Though I expected to see menu changes, I was not expecting there to be different menu themes and sometimes completely different entertainment experiences. With 7-nights on the Disney Fantasy , I experienced two different menus at Enchanted Garden and Animator’s Palate .

Animator’s Palate is an interactive restaurant, and it also had two different experiences. The first dinner there featured a  Finding Nemo show where diners can interact with Crush the sea turtle. The second dinner featured a show where diners could create their own character to magically animate along the walls courtesy of Mickey’s magic. Interestingly, I loved the second show WAY more; guests on short cruises don’t ever make it to that one.

Then at Royal Court, we experienced three very different nights — the regular menu, the Pirate Night menu (something I was familiar with from shorter cruises) and Lobster Night! I thought the varying experiences at these spots really helped to keep dinners interesting despite having repeat dining locations.

Tired of the food.

That said, I absolutely did not expect to get as tired of the food as I did. Disney cruises have awesome food from the rotational dining, to the grab and go options, to the buffet, and to the upcharge lounges and adults-only restaurants. I ate like a KING, so you can imagine my surprise when on night 7 I was dreading dinner. I was dreading dinner on LOBSTER NIGHT. What’s wrong with me?

Well, the answer is that having heavy three-course dinners every single night was just not something I was used to. Sometimes, you just want a slice of pizza and to watch a movie and there is a bit of a feeling of obligation to head to that planned dinner seating.

That said, you absolutely don’t have to (unless you for some reason are also obligated to cover Lobster Night for work)! Instead, you CAN grab a piece of pizza and hang by the pool if you’re getting a touch overwhelmed with all the eats at dinner. You’re also welcome to skip courses at dinner.

Now I kind of expected this next one but it was fun to experience it first hand. Disney Cruise Line is known for its standard of service, and you’ll probably interact with dozens of crew members during your voyage. In particular, you’ll see your serving team a lot (they’ll follow your from restaurant to restaurant) and your room attendant who takes care of your housekeeping and turn-down service each day.

I took a shorter cruise with my family when I was a kid and we STILL talk about our server, Ganesh, who made our dinners so fun and memorable. With a week-long cruise, you make even stronger connections with your crew team.

I cruised with my friend Cassie from Disney Food Blog on my week-long cruise and we made sure to get a picture with our server. We were also blown away by the attention to detail that our room attendant had. We had a banner in our room that kept falling and every day when we came in it was taped back up.

By the time we made it home, we were commenting about missing the crew and my memories of the trip aren’t complete without them!

Vibe with other cruisers.

I had also heard folks talk about getting to know other cruisers when they sailed but on shorter cruises, you’re usually only running into the same people once or twice. On longer cruises, it’s a lot more common to run into people a few times. After all, it’s seven days and there are only so many people on the ship!

We found ourselves running into and hanging with a few other groups over the course of the voyage. Cruises can be a surprisingly great time to make new friends and longer cruises set you up to be able to do that pretty easily!

Vibe with Your Cruisers 

This last one definitely varies by group but it is certainly something to be aware of when cruising for longer! Seven days is a looooong time to share a tiny cabin and do a lot of activities with your family or friends. Tensions can flare and it can feel like it’s difficult to get alone time.

Now, Cassie and I didn’t have much issue with this. One, we split up during the cruise sometimes to do our own things which certainly help. Plus, she and I don’t get to spend a lot of in-person time together so it was a nice change of pace for us.

BUT, I’ve heard horror stories from folks who want nothing more thant to be AWAY from their cabinmates by day five — with two more days to go. Yikes. To combat this, make sure you’re taking time for yourself and getting the space you need. It’s something you have to be really intentional about on a ship.

Overall, I absolutely preferred a week-long cruise to a shorter one — but I don’t think it’s for everyone. It gave me enough time to settle into the cruise life but for others it can feel really limiting. Keep an eye on AllEars.Net for more cruise takes and tips!
