Midnight on a dark and stormy NYE 1973. In a desolate holiday town on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island, a nameless covers band, having finished their nights toil gnashing out four sets of Van Morrison, Santana, Chuck Berry and Grateful Dead songs held a meeting.

The chill coming up through the cracked floorboards of the rundown temporary band house shivers the candlelight as distant thunder mutters in the jagged hills across the harbour. The task was simple. The motley bunch of kiwis sprawled around the room on threadbare couches and mattresses that by candlelight almost obscured the stains left by previous occupants had to come up with a great name for their band, They were due to play in two weeks' time at NZ’s first ever rock festival, headlined by Black Sabbath and they needed an identity. 

The piano player assembled the runes and the ancient book and threw the I Ching (google it) He opened the book with a flourish and after a long pause pronounced “ There is our name”. The bass player scanned the page ”What, Heaven?” “No, you twat DRAGON” Right at that moment a brain-searing flash of lightning and the loudest clap of thunder anyone had ever heard rocked the house. The power failed and the candles snuffed out and as the storm raged on overhead everyone shuffled off to bed, abashed and unaware that history, in some small way had been made. 

And now, some 50 years later if one was to wonder what was it all about?

The gnashing and snarling, the shouting the laughing. The setting up of tons of black boxes to make an appalling angry racket one night and a hilarious joyful clangor the next. So many things, good and bad, have happened in the last 50 years that it would take at least 50 years to tell you what went down. Then you would have to get the stories of the fifty people that have been part of the band over the last fifty years. 

But there is another way. 

Come to any DRAGON 50 show in 2023 and sing your way through a long and sinuous road of golden songs. This is not only a celebration of 50 years of the band's existence it’s a celebration of you and your relationship with the Dragon songs. Each song is a snapshot of what was happening to you the first time you heard it on the radio or on Countdown and, as such, is branded indelibly into your memory. 

Witnessing a Dragon show with the current band in full flight triggers a powerful emotional response that can only be resolved by losing oneself in the moment with people who were, until moments ago, complete strangers. Songs from the Young Years like Rock n Roll Ponsonby and Education Songs from the Glory Years like Sunshine, This Time, Get That Jive, Still In Love, April Sun and Are You Old enough. 

Songs from the mid-period 80s comeback like Rain, Speak No Evil, and Dreams of Ordinary men. Songs from the Phoenix Years like Don’t I look like Jim, Roses, Babylon, and many more.

Now that Dan Reynolds has shown off his Indiana Jones–like ability to escape boobytrapped ancient ruins — all without the aid of socks — in Imagine Dragons’ “Eyes Closed” video, the group will show that it can tour with its eyes closed as veterans of the road. The Imagine Dragons will kick off an arena tour this summer — tied to the release of their new nine-track album, Loom (out June 28) — and it will run through the fall.

Tickets will go on sale Friday. Various presales begin Tuesday. Full details are on the group’s website . There are also VIP packages including one with “a signed guitar played by a member of Imagine Dragons on stage that night.”

You won’t have to imagine an Imagine Dragons tour this year.

The “Radioactive” rockers just announced a nationwide tour in support of their upcoming seventh studio album “Loom.”

Starting in late July, the high-octane trio will kick off the run with back-to-back stops at Camden, NJ’s Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on Tuesday, July 30, Wantagh, NY’s Jones Beach Theater on Friday, Aug. 2 and Holmdel, NJ’s PNC Bank Arts Center on Sunday, Aug. 4.

While fans will likely hear cuts from their sizable stable of hits — as well as tracks from the new record which is due out June 28 — the band wants their audience to attend shows for the communal experience.

“It’s just a lot of people in a room together realizing they’re not alone in their feelings,” lead singer Dan Reynolds told AP News . “I don’t necessarily need them to feel happy or sad or anything. I just want them to look around them and see that other people are also feeling something.”

If that sounds like the spiritual show for you, tickets are available for all upcoming Imagine Dragons concerts as soon as today.

Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, April 26, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

What Is Imagine Dragons’ Next Tour?

Billed as Imagine Dragons’ “biggest North American headline tour to date,” the trek will arrive on the heels of their upcoming album, LOOM , dropping June 28th via KIDinaKORNER/Interscope. The band recently previewed the album with the first single, “Eyes Closed.” Pre-orders are ongoing.

Officially launching on July 30th in Camden, New Jersey, the band will take their show on the road through cities from coast to coast and Toronto. Additional stops include St. Louis, Dallas, Seattle, Phoenix, and Denver before wrapping in Los Angeles on October 22nd.

Imagine Dragons Reveal ‘LOOM’ North American Tour Ahead of New Record 

Imagine Dragons have officially returned with a new album and massive world tour.

The “LOOM World Tour” will kick-off in Camden, New Jersey at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on July 30. From there, they’ll appear in cities across North America including Toronto, Charlotte, Seattle, Phoenix, Denver, and Virginia Beach, stopping at venues along the way like St. Louis’ Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre, the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas, Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and the Xfinity Center in Mansfield. Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl will round-out the first leg of the tour on October 22.

The Dan Reynolds-led group will be touring in support of their sixth studio album, LOOM , due June 28. Reynolds introduced the new era for the band with the opening line for the record: “I could do this with my eyes closed/I’m back from the dead.”

“Working on this record was a rollercoaster – just as it always is,” Reynolds said amid the album and tour announcement. “Some days the songs came from a place a sadness and heartache and others joy and jubilance. loneliness. searching. wanting. anger. love. the beauty of songwriting is that it as always simply been my journal. it has documented decades of my journey through this strange life. and I’ve been lucky enough to create it with my best friends in a band and have you share it with us.”

Reynolds went on to tell fans they have that “given me purpose and a place to sing and dance” and “continually stood by our side now for over a decade,” noting that “I love you and will see you on the road soon.”

Imagine Dragons have become an unstoppable force in the rock community since their 2012 debut Night Visions , garnering a massive following with hits “Radioactive,” “Demons,” and “Hear Me.” Their success continued with Evolve’s “Whatever It Takes” and “Thunder,” as well as “Natural” from Origins . They last released Mercury – Acts 1&2 in 2022, featuring tracks “Bones” and “Enemy” with JID.

Imagine Dragons Announce Loom North American Tour in 2024

I t’s a big day for Imagine Dragons fans! The pop-rock legends are kicking off a tour of the US and Canada this summer in promotion of their upcoming album Loom , out June 28. No supporting acts have been announced for the tour. The band has been a bit mum about the entirety of the tour and where they will be headed, but they have announced the North American tour dates for what will likely become a world tour. Stay tuned for more info!

The Imagine Dragons 2024 Tour will launch on July 30 in Camden, New Jersey at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. Pending extra tour date additions, the tour should close on October 22 in Los Angeles, California at Hollywood Bowl.

Fans can sign up for the tour presale (as well as VIP tickets) through Imagine Dragons’ website . The artist presale, plus a number of other presale events, will begin on April 23 and 24 at 10:00 am local via Ticketmaster .

Public on-sale starts on Friday, April 26 at 10:00 am local. This tour is going to sell out lightning-fast, so if your tour date sells out during the presale events, try Stubhub. I sold my tickets because Five Points amphitheatre is the worst venue I have ever been to. The only time I have enjoyed a show there is when buying VIP front and Center seats and even then there security is the worst. Last show the people I knew from the meet and greet with Foreigner spent between 900 and 2000 for a paid of tickets yet when I walked down to the stage Indis not get stopped once and asked for my ticket. I learned against the rail against the stage with the aisle behind me and never was told to leave the area and neither was anyone who paid $49 for baxkrow seats. When you sit in the upper section, meaning 300's, there is no security, the seats are temporary, and its a bit more cramped then the airlines. Of someone moves, the entire section moves, and the entire row has to clear the row because it is impossible to get buy. Of anything happens in the upper sections, which is very possible seeing that everytime you get to your seat you have to ask someone who doesnt belong there to move. And when I sat 2nd row, I had at least 10 different neighbors from people climbing over the seats. With such

The band was exceptional, the lights magical, sound a bit of a problem at the beginning, but grew better towards the end of the show, especially when singing their older songs.

The Athens State Orchestra did not manage to see, except the last song - the one with Shenker - as I was entering the stadium, because, even though I had the most expensive VIP ticket (with numbered seat), I - among most of the crowd - could not enter, since there where NO lines, NOONE from the production company, NO security to help and guide us. As a result, the concert began as sceduled, at 21:00 sharp ad all of us were outside trying - I got pushed over, squeezed etc - to get in. Because of that - the entrance delay - they did not check our tickets (nobody was at the gates any way) so whoever wanted to enter the stadium - with NO ticket - could by all means enter. When entered the stadium there were AGAIN nobody to escort or show us to our seats, with limited lighting, and when we FINALLY found our seats there were people seating already refusing to get up - since they told us that people from the organisation told them to seat WHEREVER they wished, since there was no time to seat them and obviously without entry control we were outnumbered - and spend about 30 minutes trying to convince them for the obvious: to get up and let us seat on our NUMBERED seats, while searching for SOMEONE from the production company to assist. The stairs were full of people (this is against safety policy) and I managed to get down to arena after stepping on hands (it was dark as I mentioned earlier) to find someone in charge....NOONE, only one security guy who wasn't authorised to help with the situation and finally a "staff" who told me that he was a driver and would try to find someone to assist. They had NO CBs to intercommunicate and were running up and down to find whomever they were searching for. Finally, the paramedics, also had NO CBs and as we saw a girl in distress form above we were trying to communicate through signals that they should speed to the spot. The production company - I've never heard of them in Greece - are plain potential murderers.

The show of the concert was great, but we didn't really see the collusion of the band with the symphonic orchestra. The orchestra came, played their part, and after that we never saw them again. The sould could be better. The legendary Scorpions gave it all though. They made as feel good and they carried as away!

The organization was not good. Two small entrances for sooo many people. That lead to huge queues. I felt there was not so much security, during the check of the tickets.

It was great seeing Kallimarmaro full, from people who came to enjoy Scorpions!
