A visitor who wants to visit Israel for the purpose of tourism will have to obtain a tourist visa. It is a short stay visa and is known as B/2 visa. It is issued to people who want to visit Israel for the purpose of sightseeing, attending business meet or studying in an ulpan . This visa does not grant the right to the recipient to work in Israel.

B/2 visa is valid for a period of three months (90 days) from the date of issue. This visa can be extended if the visitor wishes to stay in Israel for more than the visiting period granted in his or her visa.

Eligibility Criteria for Israel Tourist Visa

To be eligible for Israel tourist visa you will have to fulfil the following conditions:

• You must have a valid passport
• Your passport must have a validity that extends the duration of the visa you are applying for by at least 6 months
• You must have a completed and signed copy of the Israel tourist visa application form
• You must provide proof of your financial ability so as to support yourself financially during your stay in Israel and for your return transportation
• You must provide a copy of your round trip flight tickets
• You must be in good physical and mental health and free from any kind of contagious diseases. You can check the vaccination requirements for travellers to Israel here
• You must provide proof of having overseas travel medical insurance valid for Israel. Israel tourist visa (B/2)

Israel has a visa waiver program with a few countries. The citizens or nationals of these countries don’t need a visa to visit the country for the short term. The US, EU members, Canada, South Korea, Japan, are a few examples. If you are a national of these countries, you won’t need an Israel tourist visa, and you can visit the country with your passport. Israel working holiday visa

The Israel government has signed a working holiday program with the following countries:

• South Korea
• New Zealand

The nationals of the above list who are 18-30 years old can apply for the visa and experience living in the country. Also, you must have enough money for the beginning in Israel and be able to buy a return ticket to move back to your home country.

The program is available throughout the year, and you don’t have to wait for any specific time. However, it would be better to apply one or two months before the date you intend to move to Israel.

You may not bring your family members and are allowed to work in the country for one year. It’s not possible to extend the visa; however, you can apply for a new visa if you wish to continue living in the country.

Israel spouse and children visa (family visa)

If you are the under child or spouse of one of the below two categories, you are eligible to apply for an Israel spouse visa and join your family member:

Israel student visa (A/2)

Those who want to study in Israel:

• Elementary and high schools,
• Academic institutions,
• Yeshivot and youth institutions of the Jewish Agency.

Clergy visa (A/3)

The clergymen who want to complete their clerical duties and other religious ceremonies in Israel can receive this visa. A recognized religious institution must verify the person and be Jewish.

Temporary Resident visa (A/1)

Israel A/1 Temporary Resident Visa is a type of tourist visa which is provided to people who are qualified for Aliyah by the Law of Return to Israel. The programs enable people to become familiar with Israel and experience living in the country before making their minds and move permanently to the country.

Israel Online Visa for Ethiopian Citizens

The Israel eVisa is a new electronic visa that will allow eligible citizens to apply online from Ethiopia. Until the launch of the eVisa, expected in late 2022 , the only way to obtain a visa for Israel is to apply in person at the nearest Israeli embassy or consulate.

This means that Ethiopian citizens will no longer need to obtain a consular Israeli visa, but they will have the option to apply entirely online as long as they meet all eVisa requirements.

The official launch date of the Israel eVisa is not yet known, and some details are yet to be announced.

The guide below outlines the known information regarding the Israel eVisa for Ethiopians and how to apply online.

Can Ethiopian Citizens Enter Israel without a Visa?

Ethiopian citizens cannot enter Israel without a visa , regardless of the duration of their trip and the intended length of stay. As opposed to citizens of some countries who are eligible for visa-free entry, Ethiopians and nationals of several other countries require a visa. Different Israeli visas are available for tourism, work, or study.

Currently, Ethiopians can request visas for Israel at embassies or consulates . This will change with the introduction of the eVisa. Nationals of Ethiopia will simply need an internet connection and the required documentation to apply online for an eVisa for Israel and receive the document via email.

Israel eVisa for Ethiopian Nationals

The Israel eVisa will likely be available to most citizens who are currently not able to enter the country visa-free, including citizens of Ethiopia. Nevertheless, the exact list of eligible countries will become available soon.

Ethiopians will be able to use the eVisa to visit Israel for tourism and other approved activities. The visa will be valid for short-term stays and will allow travelers to enter the country through specific ports of entry, including international airports.

To request an Israel eVisa , Ethiopians will need to:

Complete Israel eVisa application for Ethiopians.

Pay the Israel eVisa processing fee.

Receive the Israel eVisa via email.

The Israel eVisa for Ethiopian citizens should be processed quickly, in just a few business days .

Specific Requirements for Ethiopians Applying for an Israel eVisa

Before they can apply online for an Israel eVisa , Ethiopian citizens must ensure they possess all the required documentation:

• A passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry to Israel
• A digital passport-style photograph
• A debit or credit card for the payment of the eVisa fee

General Visa Application Requirements to Apply for Israeli Visitor Visa

• Visitor visa application form for Israel – Completed Israeli visa application form.
• Original and signed passport – The passport needs to be valid for at the very least six months prior to entering Israel and 3 months after departing Israel. It has to have at least two extra visa pages and can not be older than 10 years.

• Work letter – This letter has to be: original and signed letter from employer written on company letter head paper, validating your ongoing employment, the status of employment, regular monthly income and annual leave. Likewise, please offer your three newest pay slips. If you are self-employed: provide certified copies of company registration, tax return.
• For students. Please supply the following:
• Proof of current student status: Certificate of Enrollment.
• Original and signed letter from university written on university letter head paper, affirming ongoing enrolment, verifying the payment of tuition fees or any kind of scholarships, and confirming term break.
• Insurance coverage from Organisation/University– Supply a letter from the University specifying the purpose, period of travel and confirmation that you are going to be covered by the insurance policy for the entire trip together with the Certificate of Currency and summary of benefits.

Generally, visa applications for Israeli visa should be sent for a maximum of 6 months, and no later than 15 days, before the trip.
