Welcome to the neighborhood! So glad to see a Kwik Trip come to the area. I will always typically wait whether on the road or if I know there is a Kwik Trip around. They are the best chain of convenience stores in my opinion. This location just opened. My son and I stopped in for a few treats and they had a ton of great deals going on. Cookies, treats, donuts etc. They also carry a lot of convenient things if you don't always run to a Target, Walmart etc. Potatoes, hamburger, etc. Mini grocery area along with pre-made meals, soups etc. Service was great as it always is which ever location I have been to. So glad to have one nearby. It's so convenient with a great variety of things.

Kwik Trip is based out of La Crosse, Wisconsin and has stores in Minnesota , Iowa, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

It's been described as not just a gas station but a "way of life."

Kwik Trip has been recognized as the best gas station in the country by USA Today and has close to 900 convenience stores located all around the Midwest. Its stores are known as Kwik Trip in Wisconsin , Minnesota , Michigan, South Dakota, and Illinois and as Kwik Star in Iowa .

The chain, based in La Crosse Wisconsin, consistently receives positive reviews from customers because of its dedication to quality and service and is continuing to expand with new stores being built throughout the region.

Why is Kwik Trip only in the upper-midwest?

I asked this question on a visit to Kwik Trip's headquarters in La Crosse. A company representative explained their growth plan to me.

I was told proximity plays a vital role in Kwik Trip's expansion strategy.

The company prioritizes customer care and the freshness of its products. Each new store must be strategically located to ensure daily shipments from Kwik Trip’s main facility in La Crosse.

Kwik Trip’s La Crosse campus is remarkable in size , hosting one of the world's largest bakeries. It's where they make all their bread, donuts, and cookies.

They also make their ice cream and bottle their milk at that site with a commitment to delivering it from cow to stores within 24-48 hours.

 Kwik Trip Set to Open Several New Stores In Minnesota and South Dakota

Founded over five decades ago by Don Zietlow, Kwik Trip had a fundamental principle from the start: prioritize employee satisfaction.

Zietlow understood that by taking care of his team, they would, in turn, take care of their customers. This strategy proved successful, and Kwik Trip has flourished.

There are now 872 locations, with additional ones opening soon. See the new locations below.

Convenience Store News says Kwik Trip will continue expanding west into South Dakota in 2024.

"The convenience store operator plans to open five new locations in the eastern part of the state (South Dakota) this year, bringing its store count to 11 sites. Three of the new stores will open in Sioux Falls, one will open in Harrisburg, and one in Brookings."

WILL KWIK TRIP BE COMING TO LOCATIONS NORTH AND WEST OF ST CLOUD?

There is no denying that the industry of gas stations/convenience stores has improved throughout the state since Kwik Trip came to town.  I don't believe I've heard anyone complain about the amazing selection of ready-to-eat meals, fast-grab food items, healthy produce, the cold pop freezer, and the many amazing delicious items they offer like their own brand of ice cream. Yum.

BEN SAYS KWIK TRIP IS COMING

Since we've seen so many pop up around central Minnesota, I reached out to Kwik Trip to see if they have plans on expanding to our neighbors to the north and west of us. Ben Leibl, Public Relations for Kwik Trip responded to my question and had some great news.

Ben Said, "We have plans to put between 7-10 stores in the Fargo and Moorhead market in 2025 and will be filling in the communities you mentioned in Alexandria and Brainerd imminently. We are excited for continued growth and to bring our stores to new markets for people to enjoy.”

THE MISSION STATEMENT

Kwik Trip has a mission statement,  " To serve our customers and community more effectively than anyone else by treating our customers, co-workers and suppliers as we personally, would like to be treated and to make a difference in someone's life.”

I haven't yet decided what my favorite part of Kwik Trip is; I just know that if I'm driving somewhere, it's the first place I look for if I'm leaving town because I know I can trust it will be a great experience. I know what I can find there; I know the store will be clean, and I trust that the food will be delicious and fresh.
