The Celebration Tour Updated Itinerary

by MadonnaTribe · August 15, 2023

Excitement has been mounting with Madonna ’s post that the North America rescheduled dates would be announced shortly. Today, Live Nation is pleased to confirm that most of the North America dates of Madonna’s Celebration Tour have been rescheduled and will take place immediately following the originally announced UK and Europe dates. Updated itinerary below.

Tickets for the previously scheduled shows will be honored on the new dates. This includes all dates except Los Angeles and one date in New York due to a venue change, detailed below. Getting all shows rescheduled was the number one priority. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts a few shows noted below will be canceled. Madonna regrets the inconvenience to fans and hopes to make it up to those markets in the future.

The Celebration Tour will officially kick off with four sold out shows in London this October, followed by shows across Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands throughout the remainder of 2023. The North American leg will begin on December 13th in New York at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. As originally planned, the Tour will wrap up in Mexico City with four concerts that have been rescheduled to April 2024.

At Tampa concert, Madonna reminds us why she’s the queen

  • Maggie Duffy Times staff

TAMPA — She kept us waiting for hours in Amalie Arena.

But once Madonna took the stage a full two hours past the scheduled start of the 8:30 p.m. show, that didn’t matter. For the next two hours, the Queen of Pop showed us why she owns the title, and the multi-generational crowd gave back just as much energy.

DJ Mary Mac 5 Star set the vibe with a lively set. Then Bob the Drag Queen, dressed up like Marie Antoinette, got the crowd even more hyped as he introduced Madonna.

The singer’s Celebration Tour includes hits from the past four decades — the entirety of Madonna’s career — and features a troupe of dancers surrounding Madonna and working the stage, which had a long runway and elements suspended from the ceiling. Screens flashed video montages of photographs, artwork, scenes of New York City.

The tour was postponed last summer after Madonna suffered a severe bacterial infection that led to her being in a medically-induced coma for 48 hours . It’s pretty impressive that she’s bounced back relatively quickly.

After performing “Nothing Really Matters” — a song about how having children changed her life — alone on the stage, she was joined by dancers dressed as early 1980s punks for “Everybody” and “Into the Groove.”

Next, Madge grabbed an electric guitar and took us back to the iconic New York City punk club CBGB, where she first performed “Burning Up.”

Then she addressed the audience, saying that the show was the story of her life and she wanted us to “feel all the feels.”

“And really, Tampa, I’m only here every 40 years, so you should appreciate it,” she said, referring to the fact that she’s only performed here once before, in 1985.

She was accompanied by a person wearing a blank face mask throughout the show, who represented a younger version of herself that has stuck with her through the years. She gave herself a hug and reminded us to not forget where we came from.

“This isn’t a pop show, it’s more of a retrospective,” she said. “It’s performance art.”

Indeed. During “Open Your Heart,” there were nods to the memorable music video featuring a peepshow, and “Holiday” took us to a New York City nightclub, where the party reached a dizzying height, then took a heartbreaking turn as dancers started to fall to the ground. The refrain “Holiday” repeated as a haunting echo.

This led to a segment honoring those who were lost to AIDS, accompanied by a montage of their photographs while she performed “Live to Tell.” It began with a photo of former Tampa Bay resident Martin Burgoyne .

The segment culminated with an emotional “Like a Prayer,” with dancers’ bodies morphing into poses of Jesus Christ during crucifixion and other feats of physicality. There was a nod to Prince — who had played guitar on the original track — with a guitarist wearing a purple-patterned suit and a sample of the spoken intro of “Let’s Go Crazy.”

Madonna has always been a strong and vocal advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, and this concert was a big kiss to it. Ballroom culture was celebrated in a joyful segment during “Vogue,” which featured her daughter Estere as the DJ. Dancers walked the runway

to be judged by Madonna and guest Monét X Change.

It wouldn’t be Madonna if there wasn’t a steamy sexual element, and that came with sensual choreography on “Erotica,” “Justify My Love” and “Hung Up,” then turned almost remorseful with “Bad Girl,” on which her daughter Mercy played the piano.

Things took a tender turn with “Mother and Father,” which she dedicated to her mother, who died when she was very young. A photo of her was on a screen, as was the photo of her adopted son David’s mother, who died in childbirth. David also accompanied on guitar.

Among her many costume changes, Madonna went Western chic and played “Express Yourself” on her guitar, which she slung over her back for “La Isla Bonita.” She donned a silver bodysuit and long pink wig as she flew over the stage in a square for “Ray of Light.”

A dedication to Michael Jackson came with a “Billie Jean” / “Like a Virgin” mashup, with dancers dressed like the duo silhouetted on a screen.

Madonna has dealt with the pressures of celebrity’s obsession with youth, which is alluded to with sound bites of her saying “To age is a sin” and “The most controversial thing I’ve ever done is to stick around.” People may expect her, at age 65, to act or dress a certain way. But instead, she reminds us what a trailblazer she is during “B---- I’m Madonna,” with dancers dressed in her most iconic looks through the years.

Whatever you do, don’t expect Madonna to stop.

Madonna asks judge to toss lawsuit over late concert start time: "Fans got just what they paid for"

April 4, 2024 / 8:40 PM EDT / CBS News

Madonna's attorneys on Thursday filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit against the pop superstar for starting a concert two hours late, arguing the plaintiffs didn't demonstrate any clear injuries, court documents show.

Plaintiffs Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden filed the lawsuit earlier this year after attending one of Madonna's global  Celebration Tour  shows in Brooklyn in December, alleging they were "misled" by the 8:30 p.m. advertised start time.

They also sued Barclays Center and Live Nation for "wanton exercise in false advertising, negligent misrepresentation, and unfair and deceptive trade practices."

The plaintiffs argued they wouldn't have purchased tickets if they'd known the concert was going to start at 10:30 p.m. They also claimed the show's end time of about 1 a.m. possibly inconvenienced or injured concertgoers as a result of limited transportation options and being forced to stay up later than planned.

Madonna's lawyers argued that concerts rarely start on time, and that hers in particular are well known for their late starts. They also pointed out that Hadden posted on Facebook the day after that concert that he had "never missed a Madonna Tour" and that he later told CNN he had "been to every Madonna tour since 1985," making it clear the late start time couldn't have come as a surprise, the motion read.

According to the court documents, Hadden also praised the show on Facebook, calling it "[i]ncredible, as always!"

Madonna

"Mr. Hadden's press interviews at best suggest he may be irritated that one of his favorite acts takes the stage later than he would prefer," the lawyers said, arguing that this was not sufficient grounds for a claim of injury.

Madonna's lawyers also alleged there was no proof the late start time injured any concertgoers, including the plaintiffs, who they argued stayed to watch the whole show instead of leaving early.

"Fans got just what they paid for: a full-length, high-quality show by the Queen of Pop," Madonna's lawyers said.

January's lawsuit wasn't the first time fans tried to take action over Madonna's late start time. In 2019, a Florida fan  sued over Madonna's delayed start  in Miami Beach.

"There's something that you all need to understand," Madonna told her fans during a Las Vegas concert in 2019. "And that is, that a  queen is never late ."

Madonna knows fans don’t expect her to start her show on time. Now her legal team is trying to prove it.

Back in January, two attendees of a Madonna concert in Brooklyn filed a lawsuit against the 65-year-old pop star, claiming false advertisement and breach of contract due to her tardiness. Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden, who filed against Live Nation and Barclays Center, are now faced with a dismissal request from Madonna’s lawyers.

“Plaintiffs speculate that ticketholders who left the venue after 1 a.m. might have had trouble getting a ride home or might have needed to wake up early the next day for work,” stated Madonna’s request, obtained Wednesday by Fox News Digital . “That is not a cognizable injury.”

Madonna’s Celebration tour is a messy victory lap that needs more razzle-dazzle

Madonna brought her career-spanning Celebration tour to the Kia Forum for a night of hits, memories and grievances.

March 5, 2024

The concert took place Dec. 13 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn — kicking off the U.S. leg of Madonna’s Celebration Tour.

“The shows opened in North America at Barclays in Brooklyn as planned, with the exception of a technical issue December 13th during sound check. This caused a delay that was well documented in press reports at the time,” Madonna’s management team and Live Nation said in a previous statement to The Times.

That night, the show did not begin until almost 11 p.m. — several hours after the doors opened and two hours after the expected start time. Fans immediately took their outrage to social media .

The class-action lawsuit alleges that there was no notice to ticketholders that the show’s start time would be later than the time shown on the ticket. Madonna’s team states in the new filing that “nowhere” on the ticket did it say the concert would begin at 8:30 p.m.

The motion reads, “no reasonable concertgoer — and certainly no Madonna fan — would expect the headline act at a major arena concert to take the stage at the ticketed event time.”

Fans drag Madonna’s late start for U.S. leg of tour, but she was still ‘on fire’

Madonna was criticized for taking the stage three hours after doors opened at Barclays Center in Brooklyn but performed only an hour after her scheduled time.

Dec. 14, 2023

The seven-time Grammy winner’s Celebration Tour is the 12th tour in her career. Given Madonnna’s experience as a performer, her dismissal notice repeatedly brings up what a reasonable concertgoer would expect from a concert.

“Rather, a reasonable concertgoer would understand that the venue’s doors will open at or before the ticketed time, one or more opening acts may perform while attendees arrive and make their way to their seats and before the headline act takes the stage, and the headline act will take the stage later in the evening,” the court filing reads.

The Celebration Tour was originally postponed due to the singer’s sudden hospitalization with a severe bacterial infection last year. But after the challenges she has faced, the Material Girl is currently finishing up the U.S. leg of the tour and will conclude the tour April 26 in Mexico.

Madonna 's legal team has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed against her earlier this year over an alleged delayed concert start time amid her ongoing Celebration Tour .

In new court docs filed on April 3 in the U.S. District Court of Eastern New York, lawyers for Madonna, Live Nation and Barclays Center -- all named as defendants in the suit -- allege that the complaint should be thrown out.

"Plaintiffs speculate that ticketholders who left the venue after 1 a.m. might have had trouble getting a ride home or might have needed to wake up early the next day for work," Madonna's attorneys wrote. "That is not a cognizable injury."

The lawyers claim to "get up early to go to work" is not a legal "injury" one can sue over.

Additionally, the lawyers claim that it is not "reasonable" for concertgoers to predict anticipated show start and end times regardless of what is printed on the event tickets.

"Reasonable concert goers also know that concert lengths vary based on numerous factors," the doc states.

Two concertgoers -- Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden --  filed a lawsuit  after they claimed Madonna started her Dec. 13 concert at Barclays Center two hours late. The plaintiffs, who filed the lawsuit in January in the U.S. District Court of Eastern New York, went on to claim Madonna also started her Dec. 14 and Dec. 16 concerts more than two hours late, and that they were given no warning as to the concert's late start time. Madonna and Live Nation did not address those shows.

The plaintiffs' claim the show was advertised to begin at 8:30 p.m. but Madonna did not hit the stage until "between 10:45 p.m. and 11 p.m." As a result, the concertgoers claim, the show did not end until after 1 a.m., causing them to encounter issues with "limited public transportation, limited ride-sharing, and/or increased public and private transportation costs."

That the concert ran so late on a weeknight also made it difficult for the plaintiffs "to get up early to go to work and/or take care of their family responsibilities the next day" on fewer hours of sleep, they claimed.

The plaintiffs in court documents accused The Material Girl, 65 -- as well as Live Nation and Barclays Center -- of engaging in "unconscionable, unfair, and/or deceptive trade practices."

Fellows and Hadden are seeking "damages, statutory damages, treble damages, exemplary damages, costs and attorneys' fees," as well as a trial by jury.

In the newly filed docs, Madonna's lawyers point to a social media post from Hadden in which he praised her performance.

"Caught her North American tour opener last night! An homage to NYC! Incredible, as always! I've never missed a Madonna Tour," the Facebook post dated Dec. 14, 2023, reads.

"In other words," her lawyers wrote in the document, "the concert met or exceeded his expectations."

ET has reached out to representatives for Madonna, Live Nation and Barclay's Center for additional comment.

"Madonna's just completed, sold out 2023 Celebration Tour in Europe received rave reviews," Madonna Management and Live Nation previously told ET  back in January. "The shows opened in North America at Barclays in Brooklyn as planned, with the exception of a technical issue December 13th during soundcheck. This caused a delay that was well documented in press reports at the time. We intend to defend this case vigorously."

Madonna Shouts Out Her Cousins She Hasn't Seen in Years at the Tampa Stop of the Celebration Tour

The pop icon is currently in the midst of wrapping up the final U.S. dates of her acclaimed Celebration Tour

Madonna is known for bringing her family along on tour, but some special guests stepped out to show their support at her concert in Tampa.

When the pop icon, 65, brought her Celebration Tour to Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, on Thursday, April 4, she gave a shout-out to her cousins in the audience. Not only was the hitmaker excited that her relatives from her mother's side of the family were in attendance, she shared that it had been over two decades since she'd seen them.

According to fan-recorded footage that was shared to YouTube , the Material Girl mentioned her cousins were watching the show while taking a moment on stage to reflect on the value of family. After speaking about her children and reflecting on her late mother , she said, "One other mention is that I have two cousins that are in the audience tonight."

The seven-time Grammy winner continued, "I'm not pointing them out. I'm just saying that my mother is their aunt and I haven't seen them in, I don't know, 25 years maybe."

"I hope that you enjoy seeing them tonight," Madonna added.

The moment felt especially moving, given how the pop superstar has opened up over the years about how much her mother's death caused by breast cancer in 1963 when she was just 5 years old has affected her.

Madge gave a nod to her relatives shortly after the portion of her show, which features tributes to her mom, Madonna Louise Ciccone and her son David 's birth mother, among others, saying that it gives her "great pleasure" to see their faces on stage.

"This part of the show, and this part of my life, is extremely important to me," she said. "Everything that I have ever done in my life is meaningless compared to be a mother. I'm not trying to sound corny or anything because it is a full-time job."

Kevin Mazur/WireImage

After thanking her children David, Mercy , and twins Stella and Estere for performing every night during the tour , and noting how much she loves all of her kids (including the two eldest, Lourdes and Rocco , who don't join her out on the road), she continued to speak about how much family means to her.

The "Hung Up" singer said, "So, thanks for talking about family and motherhood and love. Right? Because that's what it's all about. That's why I'm here. That's why I still have this job because I love what I do. And also because you have been supporting me for 40 years, so thank you. Thank you for your love and support for four f---ing decades. I do not take it for granted."

Madonna's acclaimed, long-awaited Celebration Tour  launched in October 2023 at London's O2 Arena with a spectacular two-hour set where she opened up about her  road back to the stage  following  her hospitalization last year  due to a  serious bacterial infection .

After the European leg of the tour, which lasted throughout the fall, she kicked off her shows in North American with several dates in New York City and Washington D.C. in December. Her tour resumed in early 2024 and is set to continue across the U.S. until April 15. At the end of the month, she'll take the show to Mexico City for five dates.

The Celebration Tour will officially wrap up with a special, free concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 4 at Copacabana Beach.

According to a press release, the historic show sponsored by Itaú Apresenta "will be free of charge as a thank you to her fans for celebration more than four decades of her music over the course of the epic global run of the tour."

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

By Claudia Looi 2 Comments

Komsomolskaya metro station

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.
