Let’s have a glance at the prominence of the places to visit in  Mysore in one day Tour by Bus  in chronological order in which it is explored with us

Mysore One day Bus Tour Itinerary

Our tour starts at Jaganmohan Palace. Jaganmohan Palace is one of the seven palaces of Mysore city. It was constructed in the year of 1861. Due to the fire accident that occurred in Old Mysore Palace, Wodeyar –the king of Mysore initially used it as their residence for a few years until the new palace was built. Now, the palace is used as an Art Gallery and Auditorium. The palace which is built in the traditional Hindu architectural style is a three-storied building. It witnesses the largest Artifacts collections in South India. Among many paintings, one can find the famous Raja Ravi Varma’s paintings which are reserved safely across centuries. Along with paintings, the gallery includes war weapons, musical instruments, antique coins, and currencies, etc.

Words fall short to explain the astonishing things the palace contains. Rather than just reading about it, spotting it with  a day trip to Mysore by bus  makes a worth visiting. The Palace also has an auditorium which is used for cultural programs mainly during the “Dasara” festival.

After visiting the elegant Jaganmohan Palace, we will head towards the Chamundi Hills.  Chamundi Hills is one of the attractive tourist places in Mysore. The pleasant greenery makes your mind and soul relax. Mother Nature furnishes an incredible treat for photographers and nature lovers. The hill is named after the goddess Chamundi, the Chamundeshwari temple sits aloft on the hill. The hill allows you to see the spectacular view of Mysore city which is indeed a must-see view. You can also witness a mini-market in the temple premises where you can shop your favorite items.

The ecstasy one experiences on this hill are unexplainable which uplifts everyone to a higher frequency. Sadhguru – Founder of Isha foundation, while sharing about his life of earlier days in the Mysore, has expressed his experience of enlightenment that he attained on this Chamundi Hill. A never miss magical moment all can experience with Foxtravel through its Mysore one day trip by bus .

On the hills of Chamundi, you can find the statue of Mahishasura who is known as “Buffalo Demon” in Sanskrit. The statue shows Mahishasura holding a sword in the right hand and king cobra in his left hand. Mahishasura was the king of Mysore who was born to an Asura family.  He was blessed with the boon from the Lord Bramha for his tapas that no one should kill him except women as he believed that women as no power to destroy anything. Due to his increasing act of savagery and to protect Devatas, the Goddess of Shakti killed him on the hills, hence the Goddess was named “ Mahishasuramardhini”. Our guide takes you over the story on the hills bit by bit and there will be a stop for the photos in front of the statue. You can click the photos with Mahishasura.

After seeing the Statue of Mahishasura, we will next visit the statue of Nandi on the hills. The statue was carved out of a single rock which is the third-largest statue of Nandi in India. This monolithic statue is said to be 350 years old. You can offer your prayers to the old century Nandi statue with the pooja items available around. Later, we will head to take the blessings of Goddess Chamundeshwari through the direct darshan ticket which costs you around Rs.200/- per person. Our Guide will help you in fetching the tickets and guide you through the temple and its glory. With the knowledge of Chamundi Hills will step out for another place to visit.

After visiting Chamundi Hills, we will explore the Mysore Zoo. The Mysore Zoo operates between 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The Zoo remains closed on Tuesday. Upon arrival, our guide will help you quickly in buying the entrance tickets. The Zoo was created in 1892 and is a home for a wide range of species; one can catch the sight of elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras, tigers, white rhinoceroses, green anacondas, baboons, etc. The objective of the Zoo is not limited only to recreation but also aids in educating, rehabilitation, and research purpose. This strongly reminds us that Mysore is not only a sightseeing destination but also a space for procuring knowledge.

Mysore Palace

Following the Mysore Zoo, now we will visit the majestic palace which is renowned worldwide. Mysore Palace is the royal and historical palace of the Wadiyar dynasty which was used as their residence. Mysore is commonly known as the “City of Palaces”. The Mysore houses 7 palaces in total where Mysore Palace is in the center of the city. Mysore Palace witnesses more than 6 million visitors per annum for its splendid architectural style of Indo-Saracenic with the touch of Hindu, Rajput, Mughal, and Gothic Styles. It’s a blessing to see the Mysore Palace gets illuminated with 1,00,000 light bulbs that are lit every day from 7 PM to 10 PM of 10 days Dasara festival

With the remembrance of Mysore Palace, now we will have a short break from the trip. We will stop you at the Hotel Siddhartha, Mysore for an hour. You can energize with your favorite food out of various food options available.

After sumptuous lunch, let visit the tallest church on the Asian Continent which is the St. Philomena Church. The Catholic Church was constructed in the year of 1936 and is the cathedral of the Diocese of Mysore. It is also known by another name of “St. Joseph’s Cathedral”.  You just lose yourself noticing the architectural style of the Church, the experience you come by is nameless. Our guide describes the significance of the Church. Mysore stands out as an example to the world for possessing religious harmony from the long decades ago.

After magnificent St.Philomena’s Chruch, we will travel to Srirangapatna which is a town situated in Mandya district near Mysore. Srirangapatna has gained its importance due to its culture, religion, and history. The monuments on this egg-shaped island town have been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; however, the results are pending. The town encircled by the river of Kaveri exhibits serenity and several spectacular waterfalls.  The buildings are built with the architecture blended with Hoysala and Vijayanagara style. Long ago, Mysore was once under the Tipu Sultan’s sovereign, hence this island holds a remarkable history connected to Mysore.  Enjoy and experience the view of the backwater with the tranquil nature. Never miss shopping for the world-famous handicrafts and pieces of jewelry from the nearby shops.

Later we will proceed to Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace located in Bangalore. It was said that it is the summer residence of Mysorean ruler Tipu Sultan. The building was constructed in Indo-Islamic architecture. The construction of the palace was started during the Hyder Ali dynasty and was completed in Tipu Sultan’s reign. The structure of the palace was built entirely in teak. The pillars, arches, and balconies add glory to the palace. Tipu Sultan used to carry out his darbar from the Eastern and Western balconies of the top floor. Currently, the palace is under the Archaeological Survey of India. Our well-experienced guide will get you the entrance tickets and unveils the complete history of the palace. Get a thrill out of another marvelous palace.

We will now move to the Ranganathaswamy temple situated in Mandya district. Ranganathaswamy temple is the major attraction of Srirangapatna. Since the Ranganatha (Lord Vishnu) is worshipped in the temple, many Vaishnavas from various corners of the country visit the temple to get the blessings of the Lord. It is said to be one of the prominence pilgrimage places of the Vaishnava religion. According to them, these five sacred places are known as Pancharanga Kshetrams in South India. The Srirangapatna is named after the Lord Ranganatha who is seated on the island enclosed by the river Kaveri.  With the knowledge of the temple gained by our professional guide, we will enter the temple and get the blessings of the deity.

With the blessings of Lord Ranganatha, now it’s the time to visit the last place of the  one day trip to Mysore by Bus . Brindavan Garden is located in Mandya District. It is a 170 acres garden that lies adjacent to the KRS Dam which is built across the Kaveri River. This garden welcomes around 2 million visitors per year and is one of the crowd-pleasers of Srirangapatna. Adjacent to it, the garden is spread across 2 horticulture farms, Nagavana, Chandravana, and fruit orchard which contains ficus tree and foliage plants.

The main attraction of the Brindavan garden is the musical fountain and a lake where one can enjoy boating. It’s so awful to see people enjoying the musical fountain. Indeed a goosebumps moment. Enjoy the colorful view of the garden and shop your preferred items from the outlet in the garden premises.

mysore one day tour package bus

Your one day Mysore tour by car begins with one of the most revered temples, the Chamundeshwari temple. Set majestically on the Chamundi Hills, the Hindu shrine is dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, a manifestation of Goddess Durga.

Lying at a distance of 13 kms from the city, the rulers of the Mysore, Wodeyars worshiped Goddess Chamundeshwari as their guardian deity in 1399 AD. Perched at a height of 3489 feet above the sea level, the well renowned temple is known as one of the Shakti Peethas.

Chamundeshwari is the fierce form of Shakti who had slayed the demon, Mahishasura, a buffalo headed monster. Encircled with an enticing environment, the thousand years old temple is flocked with devotees from different parts of the world.

The glorious temple is also known as Crouch Pitham since the region was popular as Crouch Puri during the Purana times. Dwarapalakas at the doorway greet the visitors to the magnificent temple built in Dravidian style of architecture. Sanctum Sanctorum has the gracious idol of Mahisha Mardini with her ashtabhuja or the eight shoulders in the seated posture.

A flight of 1000 steps leads to the auspicious temple. Near the parking lot of the temple stands the gigantic statue of Mahishasura. In Sanskrit, Mahisha means buffalo and Asura means demon. Mysore was more popular as Mysuru, a name derived from the demon’s name, Mahishasura who used to take different forms and trouble the people with his evil acts. The half human half buffalo demon was then slayed by Goddess durga.

Reaching around 800 steps, visitors would be amazed to see the 15 feet high and 24 feet broad Nandi statue which was built during the period of Dodda Devaraja Wodeyar, before 350 years. Just like the Mahishasura statue, it is one of the most photographic images. Most of these bull structures worshipped as Nandi are found in the Shiva temples.

Mysuru’s Ambaari double-decker bus, inspired by London’s Big Bus, hits the road

After a long wait, Mysuru has finally got its first double-decker tourist bus decked up colourfully for a trip around some of the city’s iconic landmarks. An initiative by the Tourism Department and KSTDC, Ambaari is the first double-decker hop-on hop-off bus in Mysuru wit the sole aim to attract tourists.

The bus, which was on trial run for more than a year now, has finally hit the roads today. Bright purple in colour, with the majestic ‘Ambaari’ elephant drawn over the body, Yakshagana and other such folk art references to the State’s culture, highlights the visual attraction of this customised hop-on hop-off double decker bus.

The Ambaari double-decker bus is an open-roof customised bus inspired by the London’s Big Bus model. The double-decker bus is based on the Eicher bus chassis. It stands 15 feet tall. It has a capacity of 40 seats, divided equally between the upper and lower decks. The lower deck has air conditioning facility.

The state government has already sanctioned around ₹5 crore to deploy at least six such tourists buses for Mysuru and Hampi. It will travel around the two iconic cities in Karnataka as a vehicle for sight seeing purposes.

The state tourism department is planning to promote this double-decker bus by offering online reservation facility and guided tour offers. The buses will begin a trip every 30 minutes and the price of ticket per person is fixed at ₹250.

The Ambaari bus will cover several tourists attractions including Crawford Hall, Kukkarahalli Lake, University of Mysore, Folklore Museum, Ramaswamy Circle, Mysuru Palace, Mysuru Zoo, Karanji Lake, Sangolli Rayana Circle, Chamundi Vihar Stadium, St Philomena’s Church, Bannimantap among others. A similar plan has also been undertaken for Hampi, though the launch of the service in the historic town is yet to happen.
