This is the third time I've seen this wonderful band but the first time I've actually paid to see them exclusively. The other two were at festivals.
What you see with Hayley Williams and her merry crew is what you get. A powerful, energetic, sometimes outrageous performance. The music they wrote in their first three albums contributes heavily to this. They made lively punk-pop music and their shows reflect that.
But something changed this time around. Paramore's most recent piece of work, After Laughter, completely changes direction from what they're historically used to providing. While it's a solid album in its own right, it doesn't blend well with the old stuff.
So the group has made a similar switch in their live shows. Two songs from RIOT!, one from Brand New Eyes, nothing from All We Know Is Falling in the setlist. After Laughter was played almost in its entirety, turning this more into a pop concert than a punk one.
Don't get me wrong, Hayley and crew still provide a great night of entertainment and their audiences are equally as explosive. It's just now expectations need to be managed accordingly. For some, this is the end of the line. For me? I'm not sure. But if you come looking for one of the best rock acts on the planet, you may leave feeling a little disappointed.

Absolutely amazing. I was standing and I was very close to the front. The whole stage presence of the band was incredible and Hayley Williams especially connected so well with the audience. I was looking foward to this show since September, and God was it worth the wait. I’ve seen a lot of bands in my life, but they are right up there with the likes of Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi and Guns n Roses. If all the concerts I’ve been to, this just might be my favourite yet.
And when Hayley chose someone from the crowd to come up on stage and sing Misery Buisness I was jumping as high as I could shouting “ Pick me, pick me!”. Although I was not picked, it didn’t matter, it was still in my eyes, the best band I’ve seen yet. Unfortunately I’m only 15 but if I could drive, I would’ve booked tickets for another show that same night.
Being able to jump and sing to songs like Still into You, Misery Buisness, Ignorance and That’s what you Get was an experience I could not have imagined to be any better. Thank you for an amazing show Paramore. I’ll see you next time
Thanks for the Memories BECAUSE THEY WERE SO GREAT | Monumentour 2014:
On August the 2nd, 2014, with a full bladder and a happy heart I arrived at the Austin360 amphitheater to live out a dream – See Fall Out Boy perform live.
After a brief visit to a way-too-hot Port O Potty and a little loss of dignity, that dream was well on its way to becoming true.
I’m sad to say that I missed the opening band (New Politics). I’m going to go ahead and put the blame for that one on my mom. She’s perpetually late to everything. And yes, that’s right ladies and gents, I do indeed go to concerts with my mom. She can hang 10x better than most people I know and we have virtually the same taste in music. Anyways, after finding our seats (because this was a seated venue which, *annoyed sigh*, we’ll get into another time) it was time for the second band to take the stage. And let me tell you, they made themselves known by firing confetti guns that nearly gave me a heart attack. FOUR TIMES. FOUR MINI HEART ATTACKS. I suppose I should probably tell you that the confetti firing band was Paramore. Maybe you’ve heard of them? Oh, who am I kidding? Everyone knows Paramore, and for good reason.
They’re music is totally energetic and now I can vouch that their performances are too. From the synchronized head banging during Misery Business to the cheesy “we’re all a family” speech, there wasn’t one boring moment during their set. They played both older and newer songs, keeping up the energy and excitement the whole time. Hayley and the boys are so cute when they interact. I have this fantasy that they eat pizza rolls and watch The Simpsons together when they’re not touring. Also, my crush on bassist, Jeremy Davis, only increased when I saw his dance moves. AND THE TATTOOS. MY GOODNESS.
Next up was a music video interlude which I am totally all for. Then, we all went home. JUST KIDDING. After the music videos, the stage lights were dimmed, a creepy voice started talking about fears, and from the center of the platform, four glorious human beings arose. Fall Out Boy started their performance by playing The Phoenix and from there played incredible song after incredible song (because that’s the only kind of song they write). They even did a Queen cover at one point and that is always okay in my book.
I have a lot of feelings about this band. I’ve been a fan since the days of guyliner (ehem, Pete) and novels-for-song titles. On one hand, they make me feel totally hardcore because of their bangin music but on the other hand, I feel like a gigantic puddle of fangirl because they’re all really adorable. I mean, at a certain angle, Joe looks like Patrick Dempsey circa Can’t Buy Me Love, and then you’ve got the precious teddy bear on drums. Andy wore a stoic, almost grumpy, face of concentration for most of the show only to smile and melt my heart at the end.
Next you have the ball of cheese that is Pete. He did most of the talking throughout the performance and the lil’ cutie spewed cliché after cliché about following your dreams and “choosing your own fucking happiness” and it was glorious.
Do I even need to explain Patrick’s preciousness? I swear, he and Johnny Depp are the only two people in the world who can work a fedora. I just want to hug him and cuddle him and kiss him gently on the forehead AND THEN HE HAD TO GO AND DO A THING LIKE BREAK OUT HIS DRUM SKILLS. Hot damn. He and Andy did an incredible drum sesh/ mash up thing with Jay Z’s 99 Problems. Super cool.
Overall, Fall Out Boy performed so well. I’m just sad I haven’t seen them perform live sooner. They seem like amazing people and they deserve every single fan that filled up the crowd.

Watch Paramore perform “This Is Why” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
Paramore’s hotly anticipated sixth studio album This Is Why will be released via Atlantic Records on February 10, 2023.
When Paramore revealed they were recording together in January 2022 the response from music fans around the world was immediate and celebratory. In the time since the Grammy-winning, RIAA-certified multi-Platinum band released their last album, After Laughter - and Hayley Williams unveiled two lauded solo albums - Paramore have become more popular than ever. Over the last few years Paramore’s influence and popularity has snowballed, as the age of streaming organically propelled them into a position as one of the world’s biggest, most culturally compelling rock bands. For the band, who formed as teenagers in Tennessee, their 20-year trajectory has seen them grow from youthful outsiders to bone-fide pop culture icons, permeating the musical landscape by inspiring a new generation of musical talent. Their forthcoming sixth album, This Is Why - set for release on Atlantic Records on February 10th - is preceded by the title track, the most immediate radio hit of the band’s career to date.
Renowned for their arena-filling and festival-headlining performance prowess, the opportunity to see Paramore play their first theater shows in years created headline news. Their upcoming run of intimate live dates sold out in minutes. The band are donating a portion of their ticket sales to organizations working in areas of essential community support, including Support & Feed.

Hayley Williams is ready to hit the road with longtime pal, Taylor Swift ! The Paramore frontwoman gushed over Swift's new album, The Tortured Poets Department , while offering a tease of the band's upcoming Eras Tour run.
The 35-year-old musician took to her Instagram Story on Monday, after enjoying an electric Record Store Day over the weekend, to share a handful of her current favorite albums. Unsurprisingly, Swift's TTPD made the list.
"Had me from the storytelling alone, my friend," Williams wrote. "Every one of us knows this kind of grief! It's so impressive to me how specific and colorful Taylor's words get without ever losing the universal thread. I'm so ready to be tour-mates."
Also receiving honorable mentions from Williams were Beyoncé 's Cowboy Carter , Brittany Howard's What Now , Rufus Wainwright's Want One , Bee Gees' Main Course , Tierra Whack's World Wide Whack , Radiohead's The Bends , The Smile's Wall of Eyes , Blonde Redhead's Sit Down for Dinner and Idles' Tangk .
Paramore is set to open for Swift on her Eras Tour when it resumes on May 9 in Paris, France. The band will continue to tour with her through her remaining international tour dates, which includes a whopping eight shows at London's Wembley Stadium .
The dates come less than a year after Paramore's headlining This Is Why tour was derailed due to a lung infection for Williams. At the time, Williams shared with fans that she would be using her downtime to "dive head first into creating some better routines" and getting back into "the creative process."
"For me, when we get into this mode it always feels nice to disappear in a way," she admitted in a post on Discord . "Maybe this time I will be able to find balance between the disappearing and yet not completely shutting out the world. But probably not."
It was last summer that Swift, 34, announced that Williams' band would be joining her on the Eras Tour around the same time she dropped Speak Now (Taylor's Version) . On the rerecorded full-length, Williams is featured on the from-the-vault track, "Castles Crumbling."
"Really can’t contain my excitement because… we’re adding 14 new shows to The Eras Tour," Swift shared in July 2023. "And I get to travel the world doing shows with Paramore!! Hayley and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???"
In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show , Williams spilled details on how she and Swift first became friends back in 2008.
"Me and Taylor met because both of us -- Paramore and Taylor -- were nominated for Best New Artist the same year at the GRAMMYS," she said.
Though the late Amy Winehouse took the trophy that night, Williams and Swift ended up at the same after-party.
"We were at some GRAMMY party -- it was actually Timbaland's GRAMMY party. [It was] huge. I was very nervous," Williams recalled. "But a woman came up to me and she said, 'I'm Taylor Swift's mom and, you know, Taylor doesn't have a lot of friends her age that do music. And I would love to, like, you know, introduce you guys or get your number or whatever.'"
"So Andrea, the legend that she is, she connected us," Williams added, referencing Taylor's mom, Andrea Swift.
Swift's 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets D epartment , and its lead single, " Fortnight " featuring Post Malone , were released on Friday to much fanfare.
In terms of traditional album sales, Billboard reports that Swift's TTPD sold 1.4 million copies -- including CD, vinyl, cassette and digital download versions -- in its first day alone. This surpasses her own biggest sales week, when 1989 (Taylor's Version) sold 1.359 million copies. All signs indicate that TTPD will be making a massive, record-shattering debut when tracking for its first week concludes on Thursday, April 25.
The 31-track collection -- which turned out to be a surprise double album -- features a hefty helping of heartbreak songs following her splits from Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy , as well as a few sweet love songs amid her current relationship with Travis Kelce .
"She has put her heart and soul into the music, just like with everything she does," a source told ET about the album, "and can't wait for her fans to listen to it and to share it with them."

Paramore's Hayley Williams Praises Taylor Swift's 'Impressive' New Album: 'So Ready to Be Tour-Mates'
W illiams, whose band Paramore were the Ambassadors for Record Store Day 2024, praised Swift's new album in Instagram Stories Monday, April 22
Hayley Williams has a lot of love for The Tortured Poets Department .
On Monday, April 22, the "Misery Business" singer — whose band Paramore were the Ambassadors for Record Store Day 2024 — shared which artists she was listening to this past weekend, and that included Swift, 34.
Williams, 35, posted to Instagram Stories about how "impressive" she thought Swift's latest album was.
"Had me from the storytelling alone, my friend. Every one of us knows this kind of grief! It's so impressive to me how specific and colorful Taylor's words get without ever losing the universal thread," she captioned the post with an image of The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology artwork. "I'm so ready to be tour-mates."

Additionally Williams shared that she was listening to Beyoncé , Brittany Howard, Rufus Wainwright, Bee Gees, Tierra Whack, Radiohead, The Smile, Blonde Redhead and Idles, as well.
Williams and Swift initially met when they were both up for the best new artist Grammy in 2008.
“Not long after we became friends, she knew I felt awkward going to my ex’s wedding, so she tagged along with me, made it fun, and then we ditched the reception to go to the Cheesecake Factory,” the "Hard Times" performer recalled in PEOPLE's December cover story .
Swift has remained a loyal pal to this day.
“She recently called when I was going through a rough time, just to listen and crack jokes and give me solid advice that of course sounded like perfectly formed lyrics," said Williams, who added: "She's funny as s--- and so fun."
Williams also learned that Paramore had won its first Grammy for "Ain't It Fun" from the pop megastar, per an interview with Rolling Stone .
"I was in Europe when I found out that we got nominated — could not believe it, had not sought to worry about whether we wouldn't be nominated, or we would be," the alt-pop artist said. "And then when we won it, we didn't go. I got a text from Taylor Swift and [band mate] Taylor York in the same 30 seconds. Taylor, she just texted me a bunch of capital letters, like '[Random noises] so excited for you!' I was so shocked."

SLIPKNOT Announce Here Comes The Pain North American Summer Tour
Celebrating 25 Years of ‘Slipknot’ with special guests Knocked Loose, Orbit Culture, and Vended
Knotfest artist presale tickets available today at 12pm et here, general public on sale friday, may 3 at 10 am local here.
Heavy titans and cultural phenomenon SLIPKNOT are pleased to announce the North American portion of their Here Comes The Pain Tour . This year the nine are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their seminal debut album, Slipknot , which catapulted the band back in 1999.
In addition to recently announced dates across the globe, the Here Comes The Pain Tour , produced by Live Nation, includes arena plays nationwide this Summer. Highlights include New York City’s Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome, Austin’s Moody Center and more with direct support from Kentucky’s young and vibrant hardcore/metal forerunners, Knocked Loose . Orbit Culture and Vended are confirmed as support on select dates.
Knotfest.com’s artist presale tickets are available today at 12PM ET here . Tickets will be available to the general public on Friday, May 3 at 10 AM Local here . See below for a full list of dates including Slipknot’s homecoming performance at Knotfest Iowa in which the band will play a unique set drawing heavily from their 1999 debut, celebrating 25 years of the self-titled album along with their fans.
There actually was a time when Slipknot and the maggots (the loving name for their fans) did not completely rule the world. 25 years ago, the Des Moines band were just some guys trying to get their new LP noticed– a record that would start their metamorphosis into the most crucial band of the 21st century. That record would change rock as we know it, measuring success with a yardstick bigger than music, one for the influence on youth culture writ large. But these faceless demons from middle America would not only capture the hearts of the youth, they would help guide their tastes, and challenge them and their kin towards a new future.
Released on June 29th, 1999, Slipknot’s self-titled debut was a smash hit with critics and an instant classic with fans. It was, and is, a molotov cocktail signaling a revolution– embracing a creative direction that eschewed metal traditions in favor of fresh ideas. While the jaw-clenching riffs coupled with Ross Robinson’s venomous production were crucial to the album’s success, it was the care and attention to detail in the songcraft that moved the needle from “great” to “benchmark.” Not too shabby for a bunch of guys that only hoped to be heard.
“We loved what we did with the first record but we didn’t even know if there was gonna be anything after that,” recalls guitarist Jim Root . “We just wanted people to hear it. Selling out of records and shows, having successful tours– those are goals for any band. But the dream scenario in some ways, came true for us.”
In the years following, Slipknot’s popularity nipped at the heels of elder statesmen and even the band’s heroes, eventually navigating this brave new world with unending drive, fresh ideas and a bloodlust for odometer clicks. Tens of billions of streams and tens of millions of subscribers and followers later, the accolades tell the story: 64 award nominations and 27 wins including a Grammy for “Before I Forget“ from Vol. 3 . A seemingly endless number of tour dates. Headlining slots at some of the biggest festivals in the world such as Download, Rock In Rio, Hellfest, Wacken and many more. Not to mention RIAA certifications by the truckload– 14 platinum certifications and 40 gold across more than 30 million in record and video sales.
In addition, Slipknot positioned themselves for success with the creation of their own festival Knotfest in 2012, a traveling, multi-stage and experiential event that has appeared 28 times across several countries and locations. The festival has since spun off into a successful entertainment media hub – Knotfest.com , which became a juggernaut of its own making, giving a platform to young freethinkers and like-minded artists.
All of Slipknot’s achievements have helped them claim their rightful seat as pioneers and thought leaders, establishing them as a generational talent– loved by parents AND their children alike. And of course with all those incredible live performances, all that influence, and all that history of playing all those incredible SONGS, Slipknot has only attracted the most dedicated of fans, reaching all the way back to that fateful self-titled effort.
Slipknot is approaching this 25th anniversary by making the conscious decision to connect to fans as closely as possible, in a similar way to how they encountered Slipknot all those years ago. “Every time I’ve walked on stage, it’s never been about how many people have been there because my culture, the maggots, always show up,” says founding member Shawn “clown” Crahan with a smile.
“But as we’ve grown as a band, we have had fewer and fewer of those intimate, personal moments, trading them for massive ones. So we’re gonna make it more personal on the anniversary, but how remains to be seen. Just get ready to have your face kicked in. Because we just do what we do, spread that maggot culture – that disease. And you’ve been infected.”

Stay in the house from 'Up': Airbnb unveils new Icons category with one-of-a-kind listings
A new crop of listings from Airbnb might have you making some tweaks to your bucket list.
The booking platform unveiled its "Icons" category on Wednesday, a collection of one-of-a-kind stays and experiences.
Guests can book listings like a stay in a replica of Carl Fredricksen's house from Disney and Pixar’s “Up” in Abiquiu, New Mexico – that can be suspended up to 50 feet in the air by a crane while guests are outside, with over 8,000 balloons attached for good measure – or a living room concert by rapper Doja Cat.
The category expands on similar listings Airbnb has offered in the past, such as Barbie’s Malibu DreamHouse .
“One of the core ideas of Airbnb is that you can step inside someone else's world,” CEO Brian Chesky told USA TODAY. He said the company began wondering if it could apply that to fantastical worlds customers might only dream about.
Learn more: Best travel insurance
“I think when you take something that was only in your imagination, and you make that real, it creates a sense of magic,” he added.
What can guests expect from Airbnb Icons?
Airbnb is launching Icons with 11 options and will add more on a rolling basis.
Those include an overnight stay at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy. “You’ll sleep on a bed crafted from the same leather as Ferrari seats, take a lap with Scuderia Ferrari ambassador driver Marc Gené, and head to Emilia-Romagna’s premier race as a VIP,” the company said in a news release.
One listing offers views of the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony from the Musée d’Orsay, with its clock room turned into a bedroom by Mathieu Lehanneur (who designed the torch and cauldron for this summer’s games). Another opens Prince’s Minneapolis, Minnesota house from the 1984 rock musical movie “Purple Rain” to guests. The stay features a studio session with “rare and special tracks” as well.
How do you book Airbnb Icons?
The Icons category is featured on the homepage of Airbnb’s website and app, with a countdown clock showing when a listing will become available. Users can then request to book.
“People are just going to be asked to fill out their profile on Airbnb, answer some questions about why they want to stay, and then … we’ll kind of randomly narrow it into a set of submissions, and then we're going to read every one of those submissions and pick people. And I think this is just a way to create a little of that Willy Wonka-type joy and surprise.”
Fittingly, guests who are chosen will get a digital golden ticket. The company plans to distribute more than 4,000 of those this year.
How much do Airbnb Icons cost?
The majority of listings in the category are free, but all cost less than $100 per guest. Those who book will be responsible for any travel costs, however.
Chesky said he sees Icons as “the beginning of the next chapter of Airbnb.”
“I feel like if we can make a 40,000 (pound) house lift through the sky, we can do anything,” he said.

Welcome to visit moscow tours.
We provide authentic, informative and memorable tour packages and city tours, at very competitive prices. Visit Moscow Tours are available not only in Moscow, but also in other cities: Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Suzdal and Sergiev Posad. We also organise customised individual programs tailored just for you.
Our guests come in large groups, small private groups, as couples or as single travellers. We take care of and treat our guests with respect in a friendly and warm family environment. We show people our beautiful cities with passion and deep knowledge of their history, culture and traditions.
Our guides are extremely hospitable, helpful and well-informed. They are simply the best because only by providing the best services can we make the world fall in love with Russia. And we are very happy when our guests say that they will definitely come back to Russia and that they will tell all their friends how great Russia is! That is what inspires us to put even more dedication and hard work into our tours, knowing that what we do is positive and meaningful.
Our classic tours include tours of Moscow and Saint Petersburg, two main Russian cities.
Moscow is a big and busy megalopolis and Russia’s capital city, where more than 12 million people live and work. Our capital city is happening place; it is mysterious, elegant, luxurious, fashionable, clean and bright, with its unique legends, traditions and events. It is with great pride that we show the Red Square and the Kremlin, our Underground and Tretyakovskaya Gallery, among other stunning attractions.
Saint Petersburg is our second capital, the second largest city in the Russian Federation. This wonderful city has a strong and lively aristocratic spirit, uniquely Russian royal architecture, magnificent museums and theatres. Saint Petersburg bears the royal heritage of Russia, which can be felt in its air, its streets, parks, monuments, museums and citizens. In Saint Petersburg tours, we will take you to the Hermitage, Peter and Paul Fortress, Faberge Museum and Orthodox Cathedrals. We’re sure you will love it!
If you have a few more days to spare, venture into the dreamy Russian countryside in Suzdal or Sergiev Posad. Suzdal is a small town with a population of about ten thousand people, situated on less than 15 square kilometres. This tiny area is home to 53 historic cathedrals, five monasteries and a kremlin. Church domes are visible like mushrooms from anywhere and everywhere in the town like in a fairy tale. No wonder Suzdal is called the ‘Town Museum”. It is definitely worth visiting!
Just try any of Visit Moscow Tours’ tour packages or any individual city tour, and we promise that you will want to come back to Russia again. Russia is huge with countless amazing places to visit. There are so many unique experiences to be had and energies to be felt that one tour is definitely not enough to explore this vast land. It is also a very safe destination to travel, and we have a tradition of warm hospitality. Our people adore and take care of visitors as our own guests, and even if they do not know your language very well, they still try to be helpful and hospitable.
Our guides will show you the most interesting attractions and historical places, taking you on a journey to the past to enjoy stories of medieval times, the Romanov monarchy, the Soviet Era. And of course, we will show you the contemporary life of our country through authentic local experiences.
We look forward to meeting you soon!

Face the Music: The Time to Support the Fans First Act Is Now (Guest Column)
If passed, the bipartisan legislation will bring enforcement and transparency, prohibit deceptive websites, disclose resellers, and ban speculative ticketing.
Ticketing for live events is not only under the Justice Department’s microscope but front and center for music fans across the country. This focus places our industry at a crossroads. We can either stay with the status quo, in which events are egregiously expensive and funds go to resellers rather than artists and venues, or we can use this moment to support reform that benefits the broader live event ecosystem.
For too long, fans, artists, and venues have been caught in an unchecked marketplace riddled with speculative ticketing, deceptive practices and exorbitant price gouging.
Sweeping Ticketing Reform Bill That Would Ban Deceptive Sales Tactics & More Introduced…
Trending on billboard.
The Fans First Act is the right bill, at the right time. If passed, this important bipartisan legislation will bring much-needed enforcement and transparency, prohibit deceptive websites, disclose resellers, and ban speculative ticketing. That is why we call on Congress to pass this important legislation and move it to the White House for signature.
The Problem
To understand why we need the Fans First Act requires a full understanding of the problem and how we got here.
Fans find themselves in a perfect storm. Amid inflation and an unpredictable economy, they face bots, brokers and skyrocketing prices for live experiences (concert ticket prices have increased by 35% since 2019), according to Pollstar. While fans are eager to see their favorite acts and artists live, too many cannot.
Music festivals are a prime example of live events looking to adapt to the current economic environment of increased costs for fans (tickets, travel/lodging and food) and rising production fees. Unfortunately for fans, this means canceled events. This year, many festivals have been canceled as organizers look to consolidate and adjust to rising fees and economic constraints.
Dig deeper into the fan experience and we find that many fans’ first engagement with live entertainment is through a reseller on a secondary ticketing site, sometimes posing as the actual venue.
Fans are often asked to cough up well over $500 for a decent ticket on the secondary market, and that’s for real tickets. A buyer has no sense of clarity about the primary ticket seller. For example, Seattle fan Kerry Dellisanti had her own dream crushed when her $895 nosebleed ticket for a Taylor Swift concert turned out to be speculative (fake). Her friends ended up enjoying the show without her.
Billie Eilish, Becky G, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Chappel Roan, Diplo and 250 Others Sign ‘Fix the…
Fans across genres and localities are frequently deceived by fake tickets. Many book non-refundable travel and hotels for concerts they think they have a real ticket for, but they’ve been scammed.
Everyone is losing in this environment.
Unscrupulous brokers and illegal bots have been increasingly detrimental to consumers. As they resell tickets at the highest possible price, it’s having a direct impact on the full ecosystem of live events, harming fans, artists and venues alike.
Sky-high profit margins for the secondary ticket seller means fans are seeing fewer shows and spending less on venue concessions and merchandise that sustain organizers and artists. When fans show up at a venue with a fake or overpriced ticket, the predatory seller who defrauded them is nowhere to be found. It is the venue owners, artists and small businesses who are left to pick up the pieces of this unchecked ticketing ecosystem.
The Solution
Our industry is at a crossroads. Cater to the resellers and brokers who have no investment in the concerts? Or swing the power of the live performance industry back into the hands of fans, artists and venues?
We call on Congress to pass the Fans First Act. Fans, artists and venues are the lifeblood of the live entertainment industry and their experience should always be at the forefront. The time is now to give the industry back to the people who make it tick and get back to what makes live events and music so important — and what fuels local economies across the country.
The connection. The experience.

Everything You Need to Know About the 2024 Met Gala
What’s the dress code, who’s hosting, who’s going and how to watch.
By Vanessa Friedman
First things first: What is the Met Gala?
Officially, it’s the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute benefit, a black-tie extravaganza held the first Monday in May to raise money for the museum’s fashion wing, the only curatorial department at the Met that has to pay for itself.
Unofficially, it’s the party of the year, the Oscars of the East Coast and “an A.T.M. for the Met” (the last according to the publicist Paul Wilmot). Consider that last year’s event raised almost $22 million , while the Met’s Art & Artists Gala raised $4.4 million .
How is that possible? What is the secret sauce?
Two words: Anna Wintour.
Ms. Wintour, the global editorial director of Condé Nast and the editor in chief of its marquee fashion magazine, Vogue, has been the gala’s chief mastermind since 1999 after first signing on in 1995, and has transformed the event from a run-of-the-mill charity gala into a mega-showcase for Vogue’s view of the world — the ultimate celebrity-power cocktail of famous names from fashion, film, tech, politics, sports and, increasingly, social media. Every brand scratches every other brand’s back.
We think of it as the Fashion X Games or the All-Star Game of Entrances.
When is it?
The big day is Monday, May 6. In theory, the timed arrivals — each guest is allotted a slot — start at 5:30 p.m., usually with the evening’s hosts, and end around 8 p.m. But you try telling Rihanna when to show up. (Last year she came so late, other guests had already begun to leave.)
Is there a theme?
The party signals the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual blockbuster show, and the benefit is usually themed to the exhibition. Last year, that was easy — Karl Lagerfeld , the designer of Chanel, Fendi and his own brand , was both subject and dress code. But this year the show is called “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and it is a lot more convoluted.
It will be built around not fairy tales or Disney, but rather treasures in the museum’s fashion collection so old and delicate that they cannot be displayed on mannequins. Instead, the exhibit will involve A.I. and 3-D recreations of the work, as well as sound and, um … smell. But that’s not all.
The idea of decaying dresses — in total, the show will include about 250 pieces from four centuries — led Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s curator in charge, to think about the ephemerality of nature, which led to gardens … which ultimately led to the party’s dress code.
OK, what is the dress code?
It’s as potentially confusing as the exhibit. Guests have been instructed to dress for “The Garden of Time,” so named after a 1962 short story by J.G. Ballard about an aristocratic couple living in a walled estate with a magical garden while an encroaching mob threatens to end their peaceful existence. To keep the crowd at bay, the husband tries to turn back time by breaking off flower after flower, until there are no more blooms left. The mob arrives and ransacks the estate, and the two aristocrats turn to stone.
Just what comes to mind when you think “fashion,” right?
How this parable will be expressed in fabulousness has left many scratching their heads, but for anyone in doubt, roses are the most likely default. Also corsets, drapery and — hopefully — a great vintage gown or two; given his recent popularity , the smart money is on old Galliano resurfacing.
Still, there may be some surprises. Last year, Jared Leto came dressed as Mr. Lagerfeld’s cat , Choupette, in full kitty glory. (After weeks of speculation, the look’s inspiration ultimately did not attend .) Given that Loewe is one of the sponsors of the evening and exhibit, you can expect a lot of Jonathan Anderson creations. He did once make a coat that sprouted real grass. That would look terrific as a formal sheath, don’t you think?
Who are the hosts?
Joining Ms. Wintour as the 2024 gala’s co-chairs are Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny, while the honorary chairs are Mr. Anderson of Loewe and Shou Chew , the chief executive of TikTok. (TikTok is sponsoring alongside Loewe and Condé Nast, though given what is currently happening in Washington with that social media company, whether he shows up at all is a question.) Like the party itself, the combination of hosts is all about the mix: music, film, fashion and social media.
Who are the livestream hosts?
To give an inside look at the gala, Vogue will be livestreaming the event for the fourth year in a row. Hosts have not yet been announced, but last year they included La La Anthony, Derek Blasberg, Emma Chamberlain and Chloe Fineman.
Who’s invited?
The guest list is a closely guarded secret. Unlike other cultural fund-raisers, like the Metropolitan Opera gala or the Frick Collection Young Fellows Ball , the Met Gala is invitation-only. Entry is not just about price — which this year is a whopping $75,000 for one ticket ($25,000 more than last year), with tables beginning at $350,000. Qualifications for inclusion have more to do with buzz, achievement and beauty — the gospel according to Anna — than money. Ms. Wintour has the final say over every invitation and attendee.
That means that even if you give tons of money to the museum, you won’t necessarily qualify; and even if a company buys a table, it cannot choose everyone who will sit at that table. It must clear any guests with Ms. Wintour and Vogue and pray for approval. This year, as in 2023, there are about 400 Chosen Ones, according to a spokeswoman for the Costume Institute.
Rihanna has confirmed her presence. Given the hosts, it’s also a pretty safe bet that Ben Affleck, Ms. Lopez’s husband, will be there; ditto Elsa Pataky, Mr. Hemsworth’s wife. Chances are likewise high that Loewe faces such as Greta Lee, Josh O’Connor, Taylor Russell and Jamie Dornan may also show. There will probably also be a Kardashian/Jenner or two, judging from years past, and odds are good that Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez will step out — though the hottest speculation is around such names as Caitlin Clark, Sam Altman and the current celebrity royal couple, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
Last year a cockroach made a surprise, and very New York, appearance .
Do the celebrities buy their tickets?
Do dogs fly? No, they get invited by brands (or by brands on the instruction of Vogue), who buy their seats at the table, as well as often custom-making their looks, flying them in and putting them up. In return, the famous guests work the fashion angle. They can also, of course, always make a donation to the museum.
Does anyone eat?
It’s a mystery! What happens in the room stays in the room. Despite the TikTok presence, there is a social media ban inside the event that guests mostly obey. There is a meal — this year, as with every Met Gala since 2018, the food is being done by Olivier Cheng Catering — but eating is not really the point, especially when wearing borrowed finery. Schmoozing different tables is the point, and then grooving to the surprise entertainment (last year it was Lizzo). Either way, the last thing anyone wants is a sauce spot on their couture dress.
An earlier version of this article misspelled the surname of a potential Met Gala attendee. She is Caitlin Clark, not Clarke.

Watch: Zach Bryan Brings Dylan Raiola on Stage
Country artist shares spotlight with freshman Nebraska quarterback at Omaha concert
- Author: Caleb Sisk
In this story:
There is a difference between being a superstar quarterback and a celebrity in the world of football, but one guy who might be both as a college freshman is Dylan Raiola.
Raiola is widely expected to be Nebraska's starting quarterback this fall after decommitting from Georgia last December and flipping to the Cornhuskers. His first performance on Nebraska's biggest stage -- Memorial Stadium -- happened last weekend in the Huskers' spring game , and his strong showing has Husker fans' hopes soaring.
Tuesday night, he had the chance to enjoy a moment on a different stage.
Country music artist Zach Bryan was performing at the CHI Health Center in Omaha when the "Something In the Orange" singer brought up Raiola. Video of the talented artist and quarterback on stage is below.

Bryan is a rising star in country music and might have some hardware following a successful year. Raiola also might earn some hardware if the comparisons of him to Patrick Mahomes prove accurate.
Raiola wasn't the only Husker to share the stage with Bryan. On Monday night, Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule did likewise as Bryan closed out the first of his two Omaha concerts.
