PASSENGER TESTIMONIALS

We have been to Arizona quite a lot, and didn't even know about this tour! We had such a peaceful day on the Lake. It was very informative and so beautiful. You just cannot go wrong. It is a steal at this price. You will love it! We are for sure going again . . . probably every time we are in Mesa. Oh, those beautiful mountains and cactus!

Jane B.

Enjoyed it! We thought this was a very nice thing to do and enjoyed our cruise. The guide/captain was very informative, and it's a wonderful cruise.

Beth Anne K.

I've heard of this tour a few times before I decided to try it. My sister was visiting Arizona so I wanted to show her around and this was a great idea . . . Worth trying if you live here or if you're visiting from another state.

Abir L.

One of the best tours we took while visiting Phoenix. My sister even said that she enjoyed this tour more than our visit to the Grand Canyon! It was only approx an hour drive from Phoenix and well worth it. The views on this tour are amazing! Our tour guide was Captain John and he was fantastic. He did a great job explaining the history of the lake, Arizona, and the animals that live there. Throughout the tour he would point out animals and we were able to see a few bald eagles! Well worth the money for this tour, the views alone are breathtaking!

Your guide to Chicago lake and river cruises

One of the best ways to see Chicago is from the water. The city is home to two stunning waterfronts — the Chicago River and Lake Michigan — and each offers plenty of cruise options. Admire the skyline on a lakefront cruise, learn about the city’s iconic architecture on a Chicago River cruise, enjoy dinner and dancing aboard an all-glass vessel, sip cocktails on a tiki-themed boat, paddle your own kayak — the options are truly endless. Here’s your guide to Chicago lake and river cruises, boat tours, dinner cruises, and beyond.

See it all with Shoreline Sightseeing

Shoreline Sightseeing boat cruise on the Chicago River

They also offer skyline lake tours, plus specialty cruises and holiday events. Hop on a boat at Navy Pier or on Michigan Avenue.

Dine on the water with City Experiences

Odyssey River Cruise

City Experiences dining cruises are the perfect way to create a memorable moment in Chicago. Choose from a river or lake dining cruise, complete with delicious cuisine, cocktails, and entertainment.

Their glass-enclosed river vessel is particularly stunning. It offers passengers panoramic views of the city’s most iconic buildings as you glide along the Chicago River. They also offer lakefront brunch and dinner cruise options that depart from Navy Pier.

Entertain the family with Wendella Boats

Admire architecture with Chicago’s First Lady

An architecture boat cruise on the Chicago River

Around the world, Chicago is known for its outstanding architecture, and it’s easiest to admire the city’s legacy from the water. By partnering with the Chicago Architecture Center , Chicago’s First Lady offers the most comprehensive tour of the skyline — docents must train 100 hours before they can lead tours.

Speed across Lake Michigan on Seadog Boat Tours

Seadog Boat Tour

Are you up for a thrill? Race across Lake Michigan on SeaDog Cruises, featuring 30 minutes of high speeds and exhilarating twists and turns. Come prepared to get splashed.

SeaDog also offers lakefront speedboat tours and a river/lake architecture tour, featuring views of Chicago’s iconic Buckingham Fountain, Grant Park, Museum Campus, and more.

Live it up on an Island Party Boat

Looking for a party? These tiki-themed boats are always a good time, offering drink packages, stellar views, and fun vibes. You can hop on an Island Party Boat at Monroe Harbor or the Chicago Riverwalk, which is also where you’ll find their beach-inspired bar Island Party Hut. Choose from a river cruise, lake cruise, tacky tour guide cruise, or even a dueling pianos cruise.

Go back in time with Chicago Fireboat Tours

Step onto a real, historic fireboat and get ready for a unique experience with Chicago Fireboat Tours . The river tours are given aboard a real piece of Chicago history — a retired fireboat that patrolled the Chicago from 1937 to 1981. Tours are led by expert docents and include historic and sunset options.

Splurge on a Free Spirit Yacht Cruises

Looking to splurge a little? These private yacht charters are the way to go. The spacious yachts comfortably fit up to 49 or 120 people, making them the perfect option for a large celebration or an intimate gathering. Premium bar and catering packages round out the experience.

Explore the Chicago River with Urban Kayaks

Kayaking in Chicago

If you’re ready to ditch the captain and explore the water on your own, then it’s time to grab a paddle at Urban Kayaks . You’ll go through a brief training session before you hit the water, but you’re free to paddle the river or lake at your own pace. Or join in a guided tour to catch the sunset, fireworks, or historic highlights. Rentals are available at the Chicago Riverwalk or Monroe Harbor.

Rent an electric boat

Boat Bike from Chicago Electric Boat Company

Chicago Electric Boat Company offers fun and unique ways to get out on the water, including donut boats, retro boats, and even a bike boat that your group can pedal down the Chicago River. Rental locations include Marina City, the Chicago Riverwalk, and Rockwell on the River in Avondale.

See the skyline aboard Mercury Cruises

While Chicago’s summer fireworks are already fun to watch, it’s an entirely new experience when you’re on a 3D tour. Before the show, you’ll cruise around the lake and see some of Chicago’s famous landmarks.

Mercury Cruises also offer Urban Adventure, Canine Cruises, and Chicago by Night tours.

Check out Chinatown via Chicago Water Taxi

Chicago Water Taxi Boat Tour

Hop on! The Chicago Water Taxi is a fun and cheap way to get around Chicago. Find boat tours & bus tours – sightseeing in Stockholm

Publish date : 29 April 2024

Explore Stockholm from the water, or see the sights from a tour bus. Here are some ways to go sightseeing in town.

Bus tours in Stockholm

Guided bus tours are a classic when it comes to taking in the sights. And why not? A bus is a relaxing way of getting around Stockholm comfortably while your guide - recorded or live - talks you through the passing highlights and landmarks.

  • Stockholm currently has three major bus tour operators. Strömma and Red Sightseeing offer "Hop on, Hop off"-tours. In other words, visitors join the tour for as long as they like and can choose to disembark from the bus at any stop.
  • Ocean Bus has a set route for their amphibian bus tours. The tour lasts about 60 minutes and you'll see the central parts of town both from land and the water.

Boat tours in Stockholm

The fact that Stockholm is built on 14 beautiful islands connected by 57 bridges, makes a sightseeing tour by boat somewhat of a given. There's an old saying the best way to experience Stockholm is "from the water". Cruising along the waters of Kungsholmen or Gamla Stan on a sunny summer's day, it's easy to see why.

  • Strömma –Strömma operates several dinner -and brunch cruises, both in Stockholm and out to the archipelago. During the summer season, the company also traffics the Drottningholm tour from Stockholm City to Drottningholm Palace along Lake Mälaren.
  • Red Sightseeing – Red offers Hop-on, hop-off tours where guests can choose when to join or leave the tour at their leisure.
  • Waxholmsbolaget – Waholmbolaget traffics sightseeing tours and regular ferry traffic in the archipelago all year round, but with fewer departures during the off-season (August-May).
  • Blidösundsbolaget – A tour operator specializing in trips and cruises to the Stockholm archipelago during the summer season. Blidösundsbolaget also operates several dinner cruises.
  • Day Cruises with Viking Line – Viking Line is a shipping company that operating several cruises from Stockholm to Finland. They also run an 11 hour-day cruise through the Stockholm Archipelago (with a quick stop in Mariehamn in the Åland Islands).

There are dozens of stores and restaurants like Two Mermaids, Lucky Charm, City Fire Restaurant, Lighthouse Pointe Bar & Grille, and Cody's Original Roadhouse. People also come for live entertainment as well as the Old Mill Playhouse. There are also a number of special events held at Lake Sumter Landing each year.

With so many reasons for people to come to Lake Sumter Landing, it can be easy to spend an entire day taking everything in. In addition to all of the shopping, dining and entertainment, Lake Sumter is also known for its attractions and activities.

Aside from the lighthouse, one of the most popular attractions at Lake Sumter Landing has to be the Lake Sumter Boat Tours. Located just past where Canal Street meets Lakeshore Drive, on the dock directly behind Haagen Dazs and RJ Gators Restaurant, the Lake Sumter Line boat gives Villagers a unique view of Lake Sumter Landing from out on the tranquil water of Lake Sumter.

Passengers will board a blue and white boat that has the elegant beauty of an old fishing boat. There is a yellow and white tent to shield passengers from the evening sun, and there is bench seating around the perimeter of the boat that can accommodate up to 15 guests. The tours last between 20 and 25 minutes as the captain and first mate cruise around the lake offering stories about the history of the area.

You'll certainly want to be sure to bring your camera or binoculars on this voyage, because there will be so much to see!

The boat tours are noted for being family friendly, and are a great activity for when the grandchildren come to visit. The tours run seven days a week from 4 PM until sunset. Many Villagers recommend taking the last tour right at sunset because of the beautiful views of the sun setting across the lake. In addition to the standard daily tours, the Lake Sumter Line also offers tours for private parties and special holiday-themed tours at different times of the year. This could be a great way for a group to enjoy a special event or holiday! For more information on these specialty tours, they recommend contacting the Lake Miona Recreation Center by phone.

Anacostia Riverkeeper says proposed budget shift could leave free boat tours high and dry

From Friday Night Fishing to free boat tours, the Anacostia Riverkeeper program is designed to acquaint D.C. residents with the river and continue cleanup efforts.

But Anacostia Riverkeeper Trey Sherard told WTOP he’s concerned about a potential move of $1.8 million from river cleanup funding, which is part of the “Budget Support Act” that could allow for legal authority to make specific revenue changes.

Under the plan, balances in dozens of dedicated tax and special purpose funds from the Riverkeeper could be shifted to the District’s General Fund.

D.C. is facing a $700 million shortfall this year — part of the $4 billion projected budget gap over the next five years.

Sherard told WTOP that $1.8 million will come from the Anacostia River Clean Up Fund.

“That fund is responsible for covering all of the free boat tours that we and other groups offer,” Sherard explained. “That fund is also responsible for funding all of our trash trap maintenance.”

Sherard said thousands of pounds of trash are taken out of those trash traps every year — and that doesn’t include other cleanups throughout the year.

While the mayor’s budget plan includes funding for a variety of environmental goals, like remediation of hazardous materials in the Anacostia River, Sherard pointed out the Anacostia River Clean Up Fund is paid for through the District of Columbia’s bag fee. That’s the nickel added to your bill if you opt to get a paper or plastic bag at the checkout counter.

Sherard said the law that created that fee stipulated that the money from the bag fee would be restricted to paying for cleaning and protecting the Anacostia River, adding that it should not be shifted to the general fund.

Other groups, including City Wildlife and the Rock Creek Conservancy, are also lobbying to keep the money from being shifted to D.C.’s general fund.

D.C. Council’s Committee on Transportation and the Environment is holding its budget oversight hearing Monday at 9:30 a.m. to discuss the plan.

Sabrina Boat team steps in to take over Shrewsbury's guided walking tours

The operator of one of Shrewsbury's most popular visitor activities has stepped in to take over the town's guided walking tours.

tour boat ride

The tours, which showcase the historic nature of the county town first-hand, were previously operated by Shropshire Council's museums service.

But with the service set to stop running them, the Sabrina Tours, which operates the town's Sabrina Boat along the River Severn, is taking over from May 1.

Dilywn Jones, owner of Sabrina Tours, and Maggie Love, lead tour guide for Shrewsbury Tour Guide Association, said they were delighted at the new partnership.

Mrs Love said: "The partnership with Sabrina Tours is a natural fit as we both share the same passion and love for Shrewsbury.

"The guides know they will do everything they can to ensure that the tours are accessible to as many as possible.

"Myself and all the guides are extremely excited to be working with Sabrina Tours from the start of May and overjoyed that the Shrewsbury General History daily tours will continue."

Mr Jones said: "When we were approached by the Shrewsbury Tour Guide Association to run the guided walks programme, it was never in doubt that we wanted to be involved to showcase and promote our fascinating and medieval town."

Led by knowledgeable and passionate local guides, each walking tour offers a unique perspective of more than 1100 years of history in Shrewsbury, highlighting key landmarks, hidden gems and lesser-known anecdotes that breathe life into the town.

Under the new partnership the daily walking tours will start in the Square at 2.15pm every afternoon from May 1 and take approximately 90 minutes.
