“Uffizi Gallery in Florence is a world class museum with an incredible renaissance art collection. Enjoy a guided tour with a Local Specialist to make the experience more memorable, especially when in front of Botticelli’s stunning ‘Birth of Venus’ painting”

Pino, Travel Director

See Michelangelo's frescoed ceiling in the Sistine Chapel

One of the most important structures of the Catholic faith, the Vatican City’s Sistine Chapel is a must-see on a tour of Italy. Though the chapel walls have witnessed centuries of worship, it’s the renaissance ceiling paintings of Michelangelo that will leave you in awe.

Visit the glamorous Isle of Capri

Enjoy the classic Italian summer in Italy’s picture-perfect Gulf of Naples. Famed for its crystal grottos, dramatic coastlines and endless glamour, our trips to Italy are complete with a day of freedom spent under a striped umbrella, watching sailboats pass by.

Cruise your way through Venice

The charm found in the canals of Venice is nothing short of irresistible. Admire gothic palaces and postcard bridges whilst adrift in a gondola, gaining an understanding of life in a city that floats. Exploring a city by foot will never be the same after a trip to Venice.

Journey to the well-preserved ruins of Pompeii

An unfathomable history lesson is found in the archaeological ruins of Pompeii. Buried and preserved by the ash of a volcano eruption in the year 79, in this Italian town you will discover the progressive life of early Roman times as you walk within the parameters of an open-air time capsule of life on Earth.

Go shopping in Italy's fashion capital Milan

Armani, Gucci, Prada and Versace. These are some of the prestigious fashion brands that call the Italian city of Milan home. In between yearning through boutiques and department stores, stop to sample the city’s delicacies like breaded veal cutlet and ossobuco.

Our top 5 things to do in Italy

It's the moments of quiet stillness that take your breath away on a Trafalgar tour through Italy. Sitting in the calm halls of the Vatican. Floating on the canals of Venice. Standing beside the ruins of Pompeii.

Uffizi Gallery

The Tuscan capital is home to Uffizi Gallery, where the brushworks of art’s true masters are found. Names like Raffaello, Leonardo, and Michelangelo dress Uffizi’s grand pink walls, whilst internal courtyards leading to the Arno River will show you the building’s architectural brilliance.

Vatican Museums

A collection of Christian artwork that spans centuries and stirs the soul is found in Rome’s Vatican Museums. From the intricate ceiling by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel to the detailed Pope portraits from the 16th century to today, you will be lost for words once inside this blessed museum complex.

Doge's Palace

Home to the leader of Venice from its opening in 1340, Doge’s Palace summarizes the sparkle of this city. An opulent example of Venetian Gothic architecture and home to numerous historical works, this museum is a must when you visit Venice.

Best museums in Italy

The epicenter of the Catholic faith and the birthplace of art’s most renowned masters. Our guided tours of Italy will take you to the many museums found here, whether in the Sistine Chapel, by the canals of Venice or in the grand galleries of Tuscany.

The authentic carbonara experience will take place in Rome, covered in salty Pecorino Romano cheese. A simple dish inspiring heart-warming meal times, this pasta will connect you with Italy’s rich culinary customs - an impressive evolution from its supposed heritage as a coal-miner’s meal.

Pollo alla Cacciatora

Literally translating to ‘hunter’ in Italian, cacciatore offers an appreciation for Italy’s meals of days gone by. Typically a preparation of rabbit or chicken, it’s the simmering tomato stew that makes this dish so mouthwatering. Satisfy a genuine hunger and consume with hand-ripped bread.

Italy tours are best served with an oversized slice of tiramisu. Cementing this country's obsession with espresso, this cake of layered biscuits soaked in coffee is the perfect after hours pick-me-up before an evening stroll through the charming streets.

Best food in Italy

A date with Italian food will likely start and end with a slice of pizza. But it’s the menu items that we share with you in between that will take your appreciation to new heights; think cacciatore and Carbonara with a slice of tiramisu in between.

What to pack for Italy

People packing for a tour

A classic linen outfit

The Italians are famous for their equal parts glamorous and effortless dress sense. Look the part with a few ensembles featuring classic linens in navy and white.

A blank journal

With the wealth of inspiration tucked into every corner of Italy, you might find yourself compelled to write down notes or memories. At the very least to remember the traditional Italian recipes you learn.

With such a large expanse of space to explore, on some days, long journeys are unavoidable. The scenery will provide plenty of visual entertainment, while headphones can be used to listen to some local music or enjoy podcasts about Italian history, culture and politics when you're not enjoying the storytelling from your Travel Director.

A small blanket

When exploring the soul-stirring setting of Tuscany, a picnic may call. Come prepared with a small blanket to cover in wine and cheese.

Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes

A classic memoir that brought the romance of Tuscany to the world, there’s no better time to read this book than when venturing through the country yourself.

Pack for sustainable travel

Consider your environmental impact when you next take a trip and go single-use-plastic-free by packing a reusable water bottle, a steel straw, your own shopping bags and reusable toiletry bottles.

Expert Advice

diana

Some of what you think of as traditional Italian foods are actually American interpretations and not widely available there. Some examples are heavy cream sauces such as alfredo, spaghetti and meatballs, and chicken parmigiana (however, you may find these items in more tourist-oriented restaurants).

Popular Italy trip travel guide

If you are planning a trip to Italy, you will want to know about the best time to visit Italy as well as checking out all the available Italy tours. You may also wish to learn more about the top things to do in Italy . Once you are sure about some of the activities you wish to experience in Italy, along with the destinations you want to visit, you may want to consider how many days to stay in Italy . We generally recommend to stay at least 10 days in Italy , but to get the most out of your trip to Italy you can stay 2 weeks in Italy or more.

Next, we recommend you start thinking about the money you can allocate to the trip to know whether you should be looking for a budget tour, a luxury tour, or perhaps a completely customized tour to Italy . If you are in doubt, check all our Italy tours at the top of this page.

Italy is an amazing country to visit, and there may be other key factors that you wish to consider before traveling there. Please check our “ Italy travel guide ” which will give you a lot of relevant information about traveling to Italy.

Tours in Italy - Questions and Answers

Citizens of the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, and Japan can visit Italy (along with the free-movement zone of Schengen in the EU) for 90 days as tourists without requiring a visa.

While it is true that Italy is not an expensive destination, it is not exactly a budget destination either. Your vacation funds will go much further in Italy than they would in Scandinavia or the UK, with daily budgets of around USD150 per person sufficient for mid-range travelers who do not want to miss out on any of the country’s most important sights. Most banks have ATM machines (called bancomat) with English language options. All you need to do is look for the US or the UK flag. Plus, most machines accept both Visa and Mastercard. Please keep in mind that you will withdraw your cash in euros, with EUR1 slightly more than its USD equivalent.

The best time to visit Italy is between the months of April and June as well as from September to October. The weather on the Italian Peninsula during these months is ideal for going out on sightseeing tours, hiking, and exploring treasures stretching from Palermo to the lagoons of Venice. Traveling to Italy during July and August is avoided by many because of the summer heat and crowds, while the period between November to March sees the fewest visitors in big cities. However, these months coincide with the prime skiing season in the Alps, while southern parts of Italy, such as Sicily, remain relatively warm during this time of year. Find more information here .

It was not too long ago that finding anyone who spoke English in Italy was an ordeal. This is not the case anymore. Most people in the cities have some understanding of the language, although numbers decrease as you move further into the countryside. Therefore, it is better to know a few basic phrases in Italian (per favore means please and grazi means thank you) if you are heading for the country. This will not only make your stay in the country easier but also ensure that you show respect to the people and their culture.

The duration of your vacation in Italy depends on the ground you want to cover. It is possible to enjoy a city break in Rome that lasts just three days, while one week in Italy will give you the chance to tick the country’s top sights off your bucket list, be it the countryside around Tuscany, the highlights of Florence and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. However, we recommend Italy trips of no less than ten days . This will allow you to take in the country’s iconic landmarks as well as explore off-the-beaten-track destinations , such as the medieval hamlet of Barbarano Romano,  the Dolomites , and Mantua in the Lombardy region.  In two weeks , you can add Sicily to your itinerary. Read our travel article on how many days to spend in Italy .

There is no specific order in which you should cover the destinations in Italy. But many choose to start their Italian sojourn from the capital city Rome , given the number of attractions it has as well as the convenience of transport it offers. The  Tuscan countryside, with its rolling hills sprinkled with olive trees, is a crowd favorite, while Umbria offers similar panoramas but with fewer tourists. A tour in Sicily feels very different from mainland Italy because of its distance from Rome, while Apulia, located in the heel of Italy, and Veneto, outside of Venice, offer some of the most authentic experiences and best regional cuisine.

Traditionally trips to Italy have involved sightseeing in cities such as Naples or Milan. However, the country’s long coastline means there are plenty of sea-based activities to enjoy, from kayaking between the islands of Venice to ferry trips to Capri. Hiking is becoming increasingly popular in Italy’s countryside, given the wealth of ancient footpaths that wind among hills and mountains. A road trip is another option, with the cliffside roads of Cinque Terre a dreamy place to spend a few days driving through. Find our Italy tours and trips here .

Public transportation in Italy is excellent. High-speed trains connect major cities, traveling at speeds of up to 150 mph, while slower regional trains connect towns with a small population. Even tiny villages have bus routes, although there may only be one or two services per day in either direction. Driving is not for the fainthearted, since Italian drivers can be aggressive and can change lanes or directions without warning. Italians drive on the right-hand side of the road and use their horns frequently.

Tours of Italy by Travel Style

Portofino, Italy

Summer is the most crowded and the warmest time of the year, so we typically recommend taking your trip to Italy in the shoulder season months of April, May, September , and October.

During these months in spring and fall, you can enjoy comfortable temperatures for city tours and sightseeing, expect fewer tourists, and experience seasonal festivals. In May and September, on either side of summer, the warm weather is fantastic for exploring the Italian coastline and famous islands like Sicily , Capri , and Ischia.

While these months are our favorites, Italy is a year-round destination, and summer and winter are wonderful for their own reasons. Whether traveling as a family to Rome in August or skiing in the Italian Alps in December, our guide on the best time to visit Italy can help you find the right month for your trip.

While there is a seemingly endless list of things to see and do, we recommend spending at least 10 days on a tour of Italy to experience the highlights.

10-day itineraries provide an excellent overview of Italy’s iconic destinations, including Rome, Florence, Tuscany, Venice, and the Amalfi Coast. That said, the longer you stay, the more you will experience, and our three-week itineraries are designed for travelers to explore as much of Italy as possible.

If you can only visit for a short time, our 7-day itineraries cover the essentials of Italy, or you can spend a few days in Italy’s capital city on a trip starting from Rome .

From northern Italy’s alpine summits to the central capital of Rome and sun-kissed southern coastlines, there is so much to explore from one region to the next.

Here are a few of the best places to visit in Italy :

  • Rome : Home to iconic highlights like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain, the Eternal City is the ideal city to visit in Italy for first-timers and an excellent destination to start or end a trip.
  • Florence : Gateway to the rolling Tuscan sunflower fields and famous for its Renaissance architecture, Florence, the region’s capital, is one of the most notable places in Italy.
  • Tuscany : Known for its enchanting vineyards, medieval villages, and golden sunsets, the Tuscan countryside offers phenomenal wine tasting and cultural highlights to experience on your trip.
  • Venice : Sail the canals by gondola, see landmarks like Saint Mark's Basilica, and savor the local Venetian delicacies when experiencing the history, culture, and romance of the Floating City.
  • Amalfi Coast : Home to charming pastel-colored towns clinging to the cliffs, you can admire dramatic coastal views as you explore historic neighborhoods of the Amalfi Coast. This stunning stretch of steep, rocky coastline is one of the most scenic places in Italy.

From day trips to the Vatican City to Venetian gondola rides, Tuscan wine tasting, and pizza-making classes in Naples, here are some of the top things to do in Italy :

  • Explore the art, architecture, and museums of the Vatican City
  • Cruise the Floating City of Venice by gondola
  • Discover Italy’s regional cuisines, from Neapolitan pizza in Naples to authentic bolognese in Bologna
  • Sail between Italy’s top islands
  • Visit the famous Italian ruins and UNESCO sites
  • Taste the fine local varietals and blends of the Tuscan wine country

Whether touring top UNESCO sites or admiring the historic ruins , there are many famous landmarks and attractions to see on your Italy trip. Here are some favorites to explore:

  • The Colosseum, Rome
  • The Pantheon, Rome
  • Trevi Fountain, Rome
  • The Roman Forum, Rome
  • The Vatican Museums, Vatican City
  • St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City
  • Uffizi Gallery, Florence
  • The Leaning Tower of Pisa, Pisa
  • Saint Mark’s Basilica, Venice
  • Duomo di Milano, Milan

Pizza, pasta, and gelato are just a few famous foods to try as you explore Italy’s cities and towns. And while there is no single best city for food in Italy, each region offers signature dishes and cuisine to choose from. When planning an Italy food tour , consider these iconic culinary hotspots and classic Italian food experiences:

  • Bologna : Prepare authentic Italian bolognese sauce
  • Florence : Embark on a Tuscan truffle-hunting tour
  • Parma : Learn about the history of Parmigiano-Reggiano

From medieval villages perched on hilltops to coastal towns off the beaten path, Italy’s lesser-known destinations should be on your radar. Here are a few of our favorite hidden gems in Italy where you can experience something unique:

  • The Aeolian Islands: Most travelers flock to Sicily in summer, yet the Aeolian archipelago off Sicily’s northeastern coast is a hidden gem worth exploring if you want a sunny beach trip without the crowds.
  • Castelmezzano: Second-time trips to Italy are best spent discovering unique spots, and Castelmezzano is a gem in southern Italy with a historic village clinging to the cliffs and overlooking the countryside.
  • Trento: Tucked away in the northern Italian hills lies the charming city of Trento, one of Italy’s top winter destinations. Gateway to the Italian Alps, you can escape the crowds on a tour of northern Italy or travel in December for winter sports.

And our guide/driver (Jonathan and Matteo) were fun, engaging, and informative. Even though it rained for part of the tour it was such a great tour. Highlights of Italy

The tour itself was amazing! A lot of value for money. The tour guide did seem to be a bit annoyed at us at the end when we wanted to get transport back to the hotel, after walking over half a marathon. This is notable considering a few members had lower body injuries/ health concerns. Other than that, I really loved my trip. I made friends for life, memories I’ll cherish for years

There isn’t enough time in the day to talk about how amazing of a trip we had traveling with Riccardo to Italy! He makes you feel so welcome and like you’re a part of his family when you travel with him. We never had to worry about anything. If we wanted to go to eat (because when in italy it’s all about the food and wine) he gave us the best recommendations. If we wanted history he made it happen. Truly an amazing host and someone that I fully respect and trust. I will continue to travel with him because he’s simply the best at what he does.

What people love about Sightseeing Tours in Italy

TourRadar was excellent. The tours they scheduled were well-run by knowledgeable and amiable guides. Of course, the Italy locations were superb. The office staff kept in constant contact, but unobtrusive. And when I changed plans on the fly, the staff was responsive and thorough. I definitely cannot wait to book my next adventure with TourRadar!
The overall experience on this tour was Excellent. It was a well organized tour and I would like to give Omar - the travel agency (Soleto) a five star. Everything is in our satisfaction though there was a small glitch I would say it was a good adventure for my wife and me. Well done Omar!

You Can Now Visit Mussolini’s Underground Bunker in Rome

The dictator constructed the shelters below his family’s residence after Italy entered World War II

Sarah Kuta

Daily Correspondent

Underground bunker

In June 1940, Italian troops invaded the French Alps, marking the country’s entry into World War II. Behind the scenes, crews began building underground shelters to protect the fascist dictator  Benito Mussolini and his family.

Now, 84 years later, the bunkers beneath Villa Torlonia , Mussolini’s home in Rome, have reopened to the public. Visitors can book 50-minute guided tours of the subterranean complex, which features an immersive multimedia exhibition.

This is not the first time members of the public have been allowed to visit the shelters. They opened for two years beginning in 2006, and occasional tours were offered in the years that followed, reports  CNN ’s Julia Buckley.

Old door that says porta anti-gas

Mussolini lived at Villa Torlonia from 1929 to 1943 . The villa was also home to his wife, Rachele, and the couple’s children, Edda, Vittorio, Bruno, Romano and Anna Maria, according to Forbes ’ Jim Dobson.

When Italy entered the war, crews built three underground structures to protect Mussolini and his family from aerial bombings. They began work on the first one in 1940, when they repurposed an old wine cellar situated underneath a small lake on the property.

The following year, they built an air raid shelter in the basement of Casino Nobile, one of the villa’s buildings. They reinforced the walls with four-foot-thick concrete, installed an air purification and exchange system and added gas-tight doors.

Finally, in late 1942, they began building an armored bunker nearly 20 feet underground in front of Casino Nobile. It was shaped like a cross and protected by a 13-foot-thick layer of concrete—but it was never finished. By the time Mussolini was  arrested on July 25, 1943, workers hadn’t yet installed watertight doors, bathrooms or a ventilation system.

The city of Rome purchased the property in 1977 and opened it to the public in 1978. Today, it’s a museum and a park.

On the tours, visitors can walk inside the air raid shelter and bunker beneath Casino Nobile, though the repurposed wine cellar remains off-limits. As they wander through the two structures, they’ll see images projected on the walls and hear sounds meant to transport them back in time.

The exhibition begins with Mussolini’s life at Villa Torlonia, where he hosted parties, ceremonies, tennis matches and other events. Next, visitors will learn about Italy’s entry into the war and what hiding out in a bunker during a bombing would have been like.

Exhibition of underground bunker

Rome suffered 51 Allied bombings between July 1943 and May 1944. The exhibition recalls these raids, with a particular focus on those that occurred in the city’s  San Lorenzo neighborhood , which killed  more than 3,000 people.

A series of projections also shows the “double perspective of those who bomb and do not perceive the effects from above, and those who suffer the consequences from below,” according to the  tour website , via Google Translate.

At the end of the tour, visitors climb down a steep staircase into the unfinished bunker, where curators have added sounds and ground vibrations to simulate the experience of an air raid.

BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team

Vallelunga, April 21, 2024 – Norbert Michelisz and team newcomer Néstor Girolami got BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse’s 2024 Kumho FIA TCR World Tour campaign off to a sensational start with a double victory in Italy.

At the same Vallelunga track where the Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing-supported outfit recorded a 1-2 finish last season, polesitter Michelisz overcame a tricky start in damp conditions to overtake Yann Ehrlacher and forge ahead to the Race 1 win – and begin his TCR World Tour title defence in impressive fashion.

Experienced TCR campaigner Girolami, who was making his debut in Hyundai Motorsport-built machinery, put the disappointment of a stall at the start of Race 1 behind him to lead from the front in Race 2 for a resounding victory during a strong first competitive appearance for the new-look Hyundai Elantra N TCR.

Team-mate and 2022 FIA WTCR winner Mikel Azcona made his mark in both races with a pair of fourth place finishes. He was promoted to fourth in Race 1 after Marco Butti was penalised for contact between the pair and again benefitted from a penalty – this time for Esteban Guerrieri – to take the same result in Race 2

BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse’s success at its home event represented the best start to a season for the team and the third time that Hyundai Motorsport customers have claimed a clean sweep of victories, following previous results in Ningbo in 2018 and Bahrain in 2022.

Hyundai Motorsport Circuit Racing Project Manager Julien Moncet said: “It was a perfect weekend because, already in qualifying Norbi was in pole position and we managed to get Néstor in tenth position on the reverse grid for Race 2. Yesterday was a tough race, Norbi had a difficult launch because he was on the damp side of the track but he recovered and kept the lead to the end. Then today we confirmed the results with Néstor starting first and doing an incredible race, despite the safety car interventions. It was a very encouraging weekend and the first time we ran the new-look Elantra N TCR in the World Tour. We have shown the potential of the car and now we will prepare for the next race in Marrakech with renewed confidence.”

#196 Mikel Azcona (ESP)

It was a very challenging start in Race 1 with mixed conditions. Unfortunately, I had a problem at the start which cost me a couple of positions and then there was the hit from [Marco] Butti. I started to recover, the pace was there and the car was working nice. I had some moments with [Thed] Björk when he was defending probably too much in my opinion, but I was able to overtake him and I was happy with the points. Race 2 was a bit like a survival race, but with such a long way to go in the season it was good to bring the points home. It’s a positive start to the year so I am happy.

Mikel Azcona, Driver of BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team

Driver of BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team

#105 Norbert Michelisz (HUN)

I managed a decent start in Race 1 even though my grid position was in the shade with a lot of water on the track. Yann [Ehrlacher] did a very good start and overtook me but I felt strong and was able to follow him. I studied his lines and then waited to make my move and the car was just great. Then I was pushing all the way because he started to close the gap. I did my best and it was a very nice way to start the season. Starting from P10 the target had to be to score points, which we managed to achieve. This doesn’t mean it was an easy race because we had two safety car interventions because of cars crashing so I did my best to stay out of trouble. I managed to achieve that and, in the end, I’m very happy with the result and the points.

Norbert Michelisz, Driver of BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team

I was very sad not to do a proper start in Race 1 because we practised a lot, but I had massive wheelspin – we need to look at the data. But I managed to come back and finish P10 in the same place I started. It was damage limitation for us. Race 2 was really nice. I knew how important the start was but from there on I had to push a lot, especially after every safety car. I managed to make a gap of two seconds. The car was very good, the team did a great job and I felt I had the control of the race.

Néstor Girolami, Driver of BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team

10 Truly Unusual Things You Can Do In Naples, Italy

O ne of the best things to do in Italy overall is to visit the iconic and historic city of Naples. But there is so much more to Naples than being just the modern birthplace of pizza. Although it may not occupy the top slot among the other famous Italian cities, namely Florence, Venice, and Milan, it holds a special place in the heart of Italians and tourists.

Situated in the southern half of Italy, sandwiched between Mt. Vesuvius and the Mediterranean Sea, there are many places in Naples to visit and activities to explore, the regular and the not-so-regular ones. Where is the fun of doing the same old things when one can venture off the tourist trail and explore the best hidden gems in Naples ?

The city is rich in culture, beauty, history, and deserves more recognition, and does not wallow in the shadows of other celebrated Italian cities. Archeological sites, and museums apart, the capital of Campania promises to give an entirely new experience, even if it is the road less traveled. That's even more evident given that the lesser-known attractions in Naples are enough to fill a visit and show visitors another side of the city. These are the top most offbeat and unusual things to do in Naples , which will help tourists discover the city in a new light.

Take A Guided Street Art Tour In Naples With Napoli Paint Stories

An art aficionado will love the guided Napoli Paint Stories Tour through the Naples streets that are enhanced by artists Gola, Diego Miedo, Cyop & Kaf, Diego Miedo and other international artists such as Jorit, Banksy, and C215 with their artworks and murals.

Whether it is the 15-foot-high face of Saint Gennaro in the Forcella district or creating murals of actors like Massimo Troisi or an art portrayal of common men, Jorit's humanized portrayals are a definite crowd-puller. The street art and graffiti tour is an unusual touristic walk in the Neapolitan historical center that includes the nitty-gritty of urban art.

Go Skeleton-Hunting At Fontanelle Cemetery Caves

Hunting for human skeletons sounds quite intriguing and is one of the unique free things to do in Naples, Italy. The 3000-square meter ossuary holds many secrets along with the human skull's assortment it contains. It also boasts natural caves and ancient Roman and Greek tunnels.

As per folklore, the site was used to retain the offloading remains because traditional burial sites became overcrowded. The bodies or stacks of bones were dumped into the area or the other caves. With dark historical events such as the plague, the bodies kept stacking up. The Cemetery Caves opened to the public again in 2006, and the intrigue value makes tourists keep returning to the caves.

Visit The Pharmacy Of The Incurables

One of the most unusual things to do in Naples is to visit the Pharmacy of the Incurables ; the unique place is dedicated to medicine and was founded by Pompeo Coppola in 1743 and has retained many of the original relics. The outer facade of the building is beautiful and depicts countless scenes from Greek mythology.

The pharmacy was created to treat incurable diseases and is one of the two pharmacist shops in Naples that had exotic ingredients in the medicine cabinet, including arsenic and rhino horn powder. The tour includes a trip around the pharmacy, the medicinal garden, the sanitary arts museum, and the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie a Caponapoli .

Visit The Bourbon Tunnel

There is another secret world below the streets of Naples that hides a cavernous tunnel full of wartime relics and old vintage cars that were created as an escape route for the royal family in 1853. Ferdinand II dug the tunnel to reach the headquarters of Bourbon troops from the Royal Palace. The 1970s-created final section is a fascinating repository that houses confiscated vehicles.

The tunnel was carved under a volcanic rock, which remained abandoned till World War II. The tunnels are now part of a historic tour, and tourists can discover the remnants, including curious items such as gas masks, children's toys, and hairbrushes in it. Restored to its former glory in the 2000s, the Bourbon Tunnel is now known as the Bourbon Gallery and is one of the off-the-beaten-path attractions in Naples, Italy.

Take A Water Bike Tour Around The Bay Of Naples

There are numerous ways to explore the Bay of Naples, which is among the top attractions and activities to experience in Italy's South . However, one of the most fun ways of exploring it is through a water bike tour. Book a tour online and get picked up at the dock. A water bike tour can last 3 hours, and it can promise incredible sights, such as the famous Blue Grotto cave and Mount Vesuvius, along with a thrilling ride.

Also, while having a great time, one can slip in a workout in the bargain. Start the departure from the beautiful Palazzo Donn'Anna, a tour that lasts 2 hours. There is no need to wear a swimsuit while riding, as there is no risk of getting wet.

Go For An Underground Naples Tour

How does the idea of going through miles and miles of tunnels that are hundreds of years old? It is exciting, right? The Underground Naples Tour is one of the best things to do in Naples for those seeking off-the-beaten-path attractions in the city.

The tour is among the most unusual attractions in Naples, and the prospect of exploring the Roman sewers and pipes may seem unnerving at first for some. The underground route includes caverns, aqueducts, and Roman ruins that date back to World War II. The underground tour includes other scientific experiments to track sudden Mt. Vesuvius volcanic eruptions. The fascinating tour does seem eerie, so it is not for the faint-hearted.

With a cocktail menu that has around 200 cocktails and Neapolitan folk music to pair it with, it is an unmissable experience for newbie visitors.

The 10,000-square-foot garden is home to 20 cats and an outdoor theater with scintillating music performances. Tourists can only visit the garden with a prior appointment. The garden is adorned with plants like mandarin, lemon, and banana plants.

The pretty and quiet idyll is under the care of caretaker Gennaro Oliveiro. Guests can look at the hypogeum and find a dark and dank place underneath, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Corridors are lined with small Roman statues, and guests can steal a moment as they immerse themselves in the eerie atmosphere and memorize the moment forever.

Visit The Dolls' Hospital In Naples

This is one of the strangest things to see in Naples and easily one of the bizarre reasons to visit Naples as part of an Italian itinerary. Visit the unusual world of Ospedale delle Bambole in Spaccanapoli, where tourists will find a 100-year-old historic doll hospital. Founded in 1895 by Luigi Grassi and his great-grandmother, the Dolls' Hospital had patients (dolls) from all across the world.

The sick toys have allotted beds, and nurses conduct experiments in the secret chamber, the laboratory. Pay a visit to find out whether the atmosphere gives one the heebie-jeebies. Strange dolls with glazed eyes looking back at visitors is indeed a jump scare moment.

I got to the meeting point ontime and nobody was there. I checked the app and got a message saying the tour was cancelled because the guide had an accident with a bike. They begged I did not leave a bad review. This cancellation made me waste lots of time (I had to find an alternative plan). David, the company manager contacted me via whatsapp and offered a compensation tour/museum tiket that he was not able to provide. Conclusion for me: unreliable company.

Muy buen tour, hemos hecho 3 y este ha sido el mejor con diferencia, nos ha llevado por los 3 barrios que no conociamos, de recomendar

It was a really nice walking tour. The guide took us to several stops, gave excellent information and background stories, and had plenty of tips. Would definitely recommend!

Muy buen guía, se nota q le gusta lo q hace y sabe exponer sus conocimientos. Un tour muy entretenido y fuera de lo común.
