Including her first live show in Scotland and a Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park headline slot, her 2015 tour starts in Louisiana in May

  • We read every Taylor Swift thinkpiece so you don’t have to

As sales of her fifth album gain momentum, Taylor Swift has announced news of a huge world tour for 2015 - including her first date in Scotland.

Beginning on 20 May in Louisiana, the world tour spans across fifty dates, eight countries and throughout four continents, and follows her record breaking Red Tour, which encompassed more than 85 shows, included five sold out shows at London’s O2 and was described by the Guardian as a “slick spectacular” in its five star review.

From spring to autumn, Swift will perform in Europe and America, headlining Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2015 in London on 27 June and stopping by at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow on 23 June, dates which notably align with this year’s Glastonbury festival, which takes place from 24 - 28 June. Her ode to New York gets its closest airing in New Jersey, at the MetLife Stadium in July. Vance Joy will support her throughout her north American leg with “viral sensation” Shawn Mendes also on the bill.

The tour follows the release of Taylor’s acclaimed new album 1989, which topped iTunes’ sales charts in 95 countries on its release and was the highest selling first week release of the year in the US.

Seven-time Grammy award winner Taylor Swift has sold 30 million albums, clocking almost 80 million song downloads to date.

Xfinity Takes You to 1989 [ ]

Many videos surrounding The 1989 World Tour were released through Xfinity, and many sweepstakes for pit tickets during the tour. They released a behind the scenes video as well.

Concert film [ ]

The 1989 World Tour Live is a concert film by Taylor Swift. It was released on December 20, 2015, exclusively via Apple Music. Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the film follows the Sydney stop of Swift's fourth headlining concert tour, The 1989 World Tour. The show, which was attended by 75,980 fans, remains Swift's most attended concert to date.

Signs were displayed at the sold out Sydney concert on November 28, 2015, at ANZ Stadium which said "Today's events are being recorded and filmed for global streaming, and may also form part of a television program... for commercial and promotional purposes." Although there was no further information about what the filming was for at the time, there was speculation that it would form a DVD of the 1989 World Tour to be released once the tour concluded its run in Melbourne in late 2015. Later speculation involved an Apple Music Video launch, which was proved to be correct. Coincidentally, " All You Had to Do Was Stay " and " This Love " were added back into the show after having been left off the set list for several months. This makes the Sydney setlist identical to that of Tokyo when the tour premiered.

On December 13, 2015 — Swift's 26th birthday—she announced she had partnered with Apple Music to release a concert film entitled The 1989 World Tour Live in one weeks' time. It contains over two hours of concert, interview, and never-before seen backstage and rehearsal footage with some of the musical and surprise guests from previous shows. Celebrities making appearances in the film include Mick Jagger, Jason Derulo, Idina Menzel, Justin Timberlake, Wiz Khalifa, and Alanis Morissette. It was directed by Jonas Åkerlund. Clips from the film were later compiled for the music video for the seventh and final single from the album, " New Romantics ".

The custom stage built for the 1989 Tour is one-of-a-kind. It was a classic catwalk shape that's 100 ft long but the center part could detach from the main catwalk. It a was semi-modular type design able to rise up and do a 360° turn, it permitted to get closer to fans, the technology was like a propeller system.

Remembering All the Celebrities on Taylor Swift's 1989 World Tour

After the grammy-winning artist announced dates for her reputation tour, fans started reminiscing about all her famous friends who joined her during her last concert series.

Taylor Swift  just released the  dates  for the North American leg of her Reputation tour, and fans are hoping the concert series will be another star-studded event (à la the 1989 World Tour).

Back in 2014, Swift made the crossover from country singer to full-fledged pop star and announced the tour for her wildly popular album  1989 . Each night, Swift surprised her adoring fans with a guest performer. The list of guests was extensive and diverse, including  Keith Urban ,  Mick Jagger , Fetty Wap  and  Ellen DeGeneres .

Take a look at all the celebrity cameos from the 1989 World Tour in the following gallery:

The singer sang "Let It Go" with the  Frozen star at her concert in Tampa, Fla. on Halloween...in costume!

Taylor Swift surprised her sold-out Atlanta crowd with the "Talking Body" crooner.

Blake Shelton 's ex-wife joined Swift onstage to perform "Little Red Wagon."

With just a few U.S. dates to go, Swift continued to surprise fans with an impromptu performance of "Love Me Like You Do" in Texas.

The "Boom Clap" crooner joined her friend on stage for another electrifying performance in front of 50,000 fans.

Goin' country in Toronto! Swift brought out the American Idol judge.

During the St. Louis show, T.Swift and the hometown rapper had a blast singing his greatest hits.

Swift proved she had moves like Jagger when she brought the  Rolling Stones frontman on stage in Nashville to sing "Satisfaction."

Swift and the Aerosmith frontman sang his band's 1998 hit "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."

At a concert in Nashville, Swift sang "When You Say Nothing At All" with the country star, who released a cover of the ballad in 1995.

Swift and the country singer performed Ballerini's 2014 hit "Love Me Like You Mean It" in Nashville.

The group performed "If I Die Young" at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The two performed at the Minute Maid Park in Houston.

The singer performed "Complicated" with the Canadian pop star at her concert in San Diego.

The singer brought her "Bad Blood" co-star and bestie on stage for her final Los Angeles show.

At her final L.A. show, Swift asked the new dad to perform for the first time since baby Silas' birth.

We're so jealous! Swift got to sing one of the most iconic breakup songs of all time ("You Oughta Know") with the person who wrote it.

For one of her five sold-out Los Angeles shows, Taylor got some indie cred by having Beck and St. Vincent perform "Dreams" with her.

The Emmy-winning talk-show host showed up in a sparkly tutu ensemble that rivaled Swift's.

The besties performed a duet to "Royals" in Washington D.C.

Swift proved she rolled deep by having her squad join her during her New Jersey show.

At her Seattle show, Swift invited the rapper to sing his hit "Trap Queen" with her. She later shared an Instagram pic of the moment and claimed she was "unable to find my chill."

Taylor's cameos for her London leg were a real model squad.

The World Cup-winning soccer team waved American flags while walking the catwalk during one of Swift's New Jersey stops.

For Swift's first L.A. show, the Friends alum, comedian and "Blank Space" star were the show's guests.

Wearing a gorgeous sparkly gown, Taylor helped Legend perform "All of Me," the love song he wrote about his wife.

Honey, she's good! Andy Grammer performed his new hit song when Taylor hit the Windy City.

During her Washington, D.C. show, a shirtless Derulo surprised fans with a sexy performance of "Want to Want Me."

For one of her New Jersey shows, Taylor's special guest brought the house down with the hit song "Can't Feel My Face."

The Orange Is the New Black star joined Swift onstage to duet to her hit "White Horse."

Ed Sheeran and Future are featured on a Reputation track, so it's possible they'd join the "Look What You Made Me Do" singer on stage.

1989 world tour uk

Every outfit Taylor Swift wore on the 1989 World Tour, ranked

  • Taylor Swift will release "1989 (Taylor's Version)" on Friday.
  • To mark the occasion, we ranked every outfit she wore during the 1989 World Tour in 2015.
  • Her silver bodysuit, featuring sequined tassels and a plunging neckline, took the top spot.

21. The multi-colored two-piece set

1989 world tour uk

Respectfully, what is this? I was a Swiftie in 2015 and I have no memory of her wearing this confusing pattern onstage. In all senses, it's a miss.

20. The ballerina look

1989 world tour uk

Swift layered a tulle skirt over her sequined bodysuit when she performed a mash-up of "Enchanted" and "Wildest Dreams" (also when John Legend arrived as a special guest to sing "All of Me" in Los Angeles).

I understand Swift's attempt to match the romantic mood, but the skirt was too yellowish to have true elegance.

19. The "Shake It Off" dress

1989 world tour uk

Swift occasionally wore this fringed outfit in hot pink and dark blue — a precursor to the green, pink, orange, and blue sequined sets that she wears during the "1989" segment on The Eras Tour .

The original version is cute, and clearly Swift likes it enough to recreate it eight years later. But funnily enough, this look doesn't scream "1989" like the skater skirts and bomber jackets. It's just not memorable.

18. The "Out of the Woods" catsuit

1989 world tour uk

Swift covered in head-to-toe sequins has a nice effect, especially from a faraway vantage point. But the flesh-colored mesh on her chest makes the jumpsuit look cheaper than it is.

I much prefer the black version that Swift wore at the 2016 Grammys.

17. The black two-piece set

1989 world tour uk

This look is fine. It's a concert classic. But in retrospect, it does feel a little simple — dare I say basic?

16. The black skirt

1989 world tour uk

This is a small step up from the black shorts, but the pleather skirt is a millennial fashion trend I wish to forget.

15. The black two-piece set with a silver trim

1989 world tour uk

This Las Vegas version is the best of Swift's black two-piece sets, but the silver studs look very outdated today. You could've found a knockoff at any Forever 21 in 2015.

14. The purple skirt

1989 world tour uk

Purple metallic is a fun touch, but as the designated "Speak Now" color , but it's not giving "1989" like its blue counterparts.

13. The royal blue skirt

1989 world tour uk

Today, this shade of blue is more associated with Swift's 10th album "Midnights," but at the time, it fit perfectly in the "1989" era. The color is rich and really pops onstage.

12. The purple jacket

1989 world tour uk

The sequined bomber jacket is another "1989" tour staple. When Swift arrived onstage with her sleeves rolled up and sunglasses on, you knew it was time to search for a sound we hadn't heard before.

11. The silver jacket

1989 world tour uk

The silver jacket gives a stronger '80s vibe than purple, calling to mind MTV's golden era of music videos.

10. The light blue skirt

1989 world tour uk

This look is quintessential "1989." The bright, metallic blue evokes the sleek, glittering hues of a cityscape — perfect for the show's opening number, "Welcome to New York."

9. The blue jacket

1989 world tour uk

Again, the light blue bomber is quintessential "1989." As Vanity Fair wrote at the time, "The varsity detail on the jacket gives it a nice too-cool-for-school edge."

8. The rainbow jacket

1989 world tour uk

Out of all the jackets, this is the best option by far. The blue-purple-pink blend has become a key ingredient in Swift's iconography, from her performance of "Dress" during the "Reputation" tour to her dyed hair in the "You Need to Calm Down" music video.

7. The blue bodysuit

1989 world tour uk

Swift called back to this midnight-blue bodysuit with beaded fringe during her fifth Los Angeles stop on The Eras Tour .

It wasn't in her regular rotation during the "1989" era, which gives it an exciting, limited-edition quality.

6. The silver fringe

1989 world tour uk

The silver bodysuit with beaded fringe is exactly what a flapper would wear if she traveled through time to sing "Shake It Off."

5. The "How You Get the Girl" outfit

1989 world tour uk

Of all the shiny "1989" looks, this is certainly the most unique — not least because it literally lights up. Swift's pink top and matching skirt were striped with LED lights (as were her 12 backup dancers and their umbrella props).

Electronic engineer Dave Sheinkopf told InStyle that Swift's outfit was programmed like a Times Square billboard screen. Her lighting crew was tasked with syncing "35,000 moving parts" to achieve the intended effect.

"It's the first time that's been done with 13 people at once," he said at the time, calling it "the most complicated wearable lighting system for a stage show."

4. The leather catsuit

1989 world tour uk

I'm partial to this look because it's the one I associate with Mick Jagger as a surprise guest (iconic) and Swift's rock version of "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" (even more iconic).

3. The "Blank Space" blazer

1989 world tour uk

I love the blazers that Swift slips on to perform "The Man" on The Eras Tour, but the original blazer reigns supreme. It gives Swift the oomph of a woman in charge — the ideal outfit to wear while singing, "Boys only want love if it's torture."

2. The "I Know Places" look

1989 world tour uk

This is one of Swift's best-known looks from the "1989" era — and for good reason. This outfit radiates pop-star energy, from the sequin trim of her tube top down to the heels of her thigh-high boots.

1. The "Style" bodysuit

1989 world tour uk

This silver look takes the cake. It's theatrical and stage-ready — kinda like something Christina Aguilera would wear in "Burlesque" — without being over-the-top and hammy. Marie Claire also likened the plunging neckline to Marilyn Monroe's iconic dress in "The Seven Year Itch."

Put simply, it's an outfit made for a star.
