British Virgin Islands London Office

It was a moment of hope, pride and love when the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board (BVITB) unveiled to the Virgin Islands community and the rest of the world its new BVILOVE brand on Monday, September 21.

The BVILOVE brand and campaign is planned to bolster the BVI’s image locally, regionally and abroad by focusing on what makes the BVI a special destination and business jurisdiction.

According to Premier, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie, who is the minister responsible for tourism, the mantra of BVILOVE is an expression of the mission of his administration to create a Green BVI where all residents and all people love living Green.

He stated, “The unveiling of this logo, is reflected in the way we live, work and invest in the BVI – caring for our BVI because we love our BVI.”

Premier Fahie further explained the significance of this iconic logo and congratulated the BVI Tourist Board for spearheading this campaign.

In explaining the elements of the newly unveiled brand, Premier Fahie said, “The green leaf on the BVILOVE logo is that of our White Cedar, our Territorial Tree.  The White Cedar tree is important to our culture and our people because the bark or wood of the tree was used to make the stern, stern posts and frame of our famous Virgin Islands sloop. The green leaf represents growth, drive, innovation, green diversification, revitalisation, green expansion, SMART strategies, development, personal and professional empowerment.”

Meanwhile, Junior Minister for Tourism, Honourable Sharie B. DeCastro, said that it was a very exciting day for the BVI as the Territory was on the verge of what will be one of the defining moments in history, especially in the COVID-19 era.

The Junior Minister stated, “COVID-19 has not dulled our stunning sunsets, has not soiled our white sandy beaches, has not evaporated our pristine waters and definitely has not taken the wind out of our ideal sailing and diving locations. Our Tourism products are still as awe-inspiring as ever and will remain in high demand when the global Tourism industry reopens.”

Chairperson of the BVI Tourist Board, Mrs. Kenisha Sprauve joined her voice and said that the BVI is looking forward to the opening of its borders to visitors in the not too distant future; that the time is ripe for the BVI to adapt and adopt to having this new brand reflected.

She said, “We at the BVI Tourist Board have drafted our Reopening Policy and Protocols and we are now going through the approval process to support a successful reopening.  We intend as a Tourism industry to grow to be the best at our size and price point. We will continue to grow and improve our Tourism product for our local population and for our visitors. BVILOVE is our people. BVILOVE is reopening our Tourism industry. BVILOVE is welcoming visitors back to our shores.”

Newly appointed Director for Tourism, Mr. Clive McCoy said that this campaign is the clarion call for Tourism to take on a new look, a new feel, a new image and a new perspective.

He said, “BVILOVE is our people, and our people in turn are Tourism. Who we are is Tourism. So, in BVILOVE we will strengthen and prepare the industry in the ‘New Regular’, as we reopen our borders and step forward with vigour to welcome those who want to experience BVILOVE.  As we move forward with this campaign, you will be seeing many of our BVILOVE promotional ads as we seek to be the best we can be as a luxury Tourism destination .”

Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie stated that the unveiling and launch comes on the heels of the official rebranding of the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA). The Port Authority and Tourist Board, he said, are critical agencies in sustaining the Virgin Islands tourism product during the COVID-19 era.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola — A change in the British Virgin Islands’ tourism slogan is starting to stir up controversy there.

The BVI used to bill itself as “Nature’s Little Secrets.” But the islands of Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van Dyke now consider themselves: “BVI Love.”

The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board (BVITB) unveiled the new slogan “BVILOVE” for branding on September 21, 2020 — just before the tourism world virtually shut down with COVID-19.

BVI Premier Andrew Fahie, who is the minister responsible for tourism, said the “mantra BVILOVE is an expression of the mission of his administration to create a Green BVI where all residents and all people love living Green.”

“The unveiling of this logo, is reflected in the way we live, work and invest in the BVI – caring for our BVI because we love our BVI,” Fahie explained.  “The green leaf on the BVILOVE logo is that of our White Cedar, our Territorial Tree.  The White Cedar tree is important to our culture and our people because the bark or wood of the tree was used to make the stern, stern posts and frame of our famous Virgin Islands sloop. British Virgin Islands Tourist Board Unveils Newly Designed Website

Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands  -The British Virgin Islands’ official on-line presence has been redesigned, refreshed and released! The new design of  www.bvitourism.com  is part of the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission’s (BVITB) dedication to creating a captivating modern digital experience for the destination and secures a robust and user-friendly on-line location for the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITB).

The completely revamped website is enhanced by superior visual content and features a cutting-edge platform that provides the enhanced ability to promote local tourism businesses with complete and accurate descriptions of their services.  Visitors to the site will appreciate the improved ease of navigation and the ability to contact businesses directly.  Users will also enjoy enhanced features which will aid them in thoroughly planning their visit, by allowing them to save the businesses they would like to patronize using the site’s geomarketing capabilities.  This key feature of the website’s optimization strategy gives the BVITB the capability to target people by geographic location – an innovative means of enhancing the BVI’s global marketing reach.

“Creating a new and exciting, yet informative experience for all visitors of the BVITB’s website was our priority. This interactive tool allows our Tourism Industry Partners to effectively engage with prospective guests,” said Director of Tourism, Clive McCoy.  “This project began in 2021 and I am pleased to unveil the cutting-edge website that will serve our needs for the foreseeable future.”

The new website will be launched in English and versions in over 10 languages will follow.  Users can also expect new information to be added daily.  The website will be continually monitored and updated for the best possible optimisation.

“Our platform had become obsolete and presented a number of challenges that went as far back as 2017.  I am pleased that our Marketing and Business Development teams now have a fully functioning website.  This site will be used in our call to action and our various marketing campaigns,” said Deputy Director of Tourism, Rhodni Skelton.

The new website comes at a time where much of tourism advertising and interaction is primarily conducted on the internet.  Internet usage for tourism destination leads outweighs traditional means like print and television.  The much-needed refreshing update is timely to the Digital Marking programme.

“Our goal is to have the most complete information portal about the BVI there is,” BVITB’s Digital Marketing Coordinator and project lead, James Kelley commented. “It is indeed a joy for me to see the process of creating this very interactive website come to fruition.”  Mr. Kelly who led the website’s transformation efforts worked with  Cendyn , formerly known as Next Guest, to create the innovative marketing tool.

Delma Maduro appointed Chairman of new Tourist Board

bvi tourist board logo

Cabinet has approved and appointed 11 new members to serve as board of directors of the BVI Tourist Board (BVITB) and Delma Maduro has been appointed to serve as chairperson.

The newly appointed board members will serve for four years, and their service began on September 1, 2022, and will expire on August 31, 2026.

Along with Maduro, the members of the board are Henry Prince, Andrew Ball, Keisha Davis-Barnes, Gregory Callwood, Dorcas Fahie, Oren Hodge, Shamora Penn-Maduro, Allan Parker, Miles Sutherland Pilch, and Lorraine Wheatley.

The Cabinet indicated that the recommendation for Maduro to serve as chairwoman came from the Minister for Tourism.

Meanwhile, the four ex officio members of the Board are the Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office or a designate, the Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority or a designate, the Managing Director of the BVI Airports Authority or a designate and the Director of Tourism.

The members of the Board will also be given a stipend for their services, with the Chairman set to receive $1,800 per month and other members receiving $900 per month.

Cabinet documents indicated that Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley had to declare that members of his extended family were being recommended to serve on the board.

Additionally, the Minister for Health & Social Development declared that his sister was being recommended as a member to serve on the Board and he recused himself from the meeting.

The issue of who serves on statutory boards in the territory has been public concern and this has contributed to the Commission of Inquiry (COI) report recommending a review of statutory boards. The COI suggested, among other things, that there should be a protocol for the appointment and removal of statutory board members. It said this protocol should be published and applicable to all such boards.

Recommendation B24 of the report called for a review of statutory boards to determine the extent to which these boards were applying policies intended to promote good governance — such as a conflict-of-interest policy and a political interference policy — and the extent to which those boards follow a due diligence policy.

This old woman who is out of touch with tourism. SMH

Hmmm. Delma??? We need newer blood and someone who can work hard themselves – not someone who loves a top position and the limelight, but actually does nothing herself.

would be better for Mrs. Maduro as she has already contributed so much to the BVI.

of negativity and hate, God is watching and listening. You people don’t learn. Delma Maduro is a Woman or Integrity, Passion and Substance. When crisis hit our Shores it doesn’t favour old nor young, rich nor poor. The sad truth is Good people suffer along with such like you. Beware!!!

Don’t her daughter work there too? What a big conflict of interest.

Rich get Richer.. donate that $1800.00 to a school..

This mentality is causing us problems now. You can’t get get rid of all the’old’ people because they are the ones with experience and contact and connections in the real world. Just being young and having a degree is not enough. We are suffering right now from Degree syndrome in many Govt departments. Numerous degrees no experience no connections abroad to get things done. I think she still has energy and industry connections to get the job done.

This is a terrible terrible choice for tourism. We keep putting retirees to do what is supposed to be innovative work and my gosh look what we have come to. 4 YEARS????????

This is a very very very very poor choice.

What is her background, please?

NO BACKGROUND IN TOURISM! WHY?

Not questioning her as a person or what she has done. However, she is not qualified to run the Tourist Board.

Why these old mss don’t go and stay park up give young people a chance

I support Mrs.Maduro. Confident she can deliver

One way to manage statutory bodies is to put busy bodies like this in charge. loves the press but what work will she actually do. At least ALLAN PARKER has integrity and is on there

Tbh boards don’t actually do any work. It is the regular everyday staff that does the work. It is the Director who runs the organization not the chairpetson.

What are their backgrounds? Views and ideas for tourism and fiscal responsibility?

Welllllllll they are getting PAID. So why are they being paid For not really doing any work? Just STOP
