If the photos are not in the right order, your visa may get rejected even if you have submitted all the proper documents. To avoid visa application rejection, follow this visa photo guide.

Things to Keep in Mind While Submitting Photos for a Canada Visa

Photo Size : The Canada visa photo size should be 35mm X 45mm. Your entire face and the upper part of your shoulders should be visible in the photograph. The head size in the photo should be 31 mm x 36 mm (from crown to chin).

Recent Photos : The photos you send for the Canada visa application should be recent. They should not be older than 6 months. You must not send photos that were taken years ago. It should match your current appearance.

Facial Clarity: All the facial features should be clearly seen. Your hair should not cover your ears or eyes. If you wear prescription glasses, they should not be tinted. Your eyes should be clearly seen through the lens. Do not wear sunglasses while taking the visa photograph.

Head Position and Expression : You should hold your head straight while taking the photograph. Photographs with any kind of head tilt will not be accepted. Similarly, your expression should be neutral. Avoid smiling, frowning, and laughing in the photos. Keep your mouth closed, and avoid showing your teeth, too.

Color and Background : Your Canada visa photo can be in color or black and white. The background should be kept white or any other light color. There should be no patterns in the background. It should be plain.

• Name of the applicant

Specifications

• The photographs must be identical and taken within the last six months. They may be either black and white or colour.
• The photographs must be clear, well defined and taken against a plain white or light-coloured background.
• If the photographs are digital, they must not be altered in any way.
• Your face must be square to the camera with a neutral expression, neither frowning nor smiling, and with your mouth closed.
• You may wear non-tinted prescription glasses as long as your eyes are clearly visible. Make sure that the frame does not cover any part of your eyes. Sunglasses are not acceptable.

Photograph and head size specifications

• The frame size must be at least 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8″ x 1 3/4″).
• The photographs must show the full front view of the head, with the face in the middle of the photograph, and include the top of the shoulders.
• The size of the head, from chin to crown, must be between 31 mm (1 1/4″) and 36 mm (1 7/16″).
• Crown means the top of the head or (if obscured by hair or a head covering) where the top of the head or skull would be if it could be seen.

How to make Canada Visa photo online

Step 1: take a picture with a digital camera or a smartphone.

Make sure someone takes your passport photo for you. Selfies are not accepted. Make use of your tripod if you have one. By using a tripod, you will be able to keep the camera level and steady. Ideally, the person should be around 1 meter away from the camera.

Step 2: Choose a venue with appropriate lighting

Size of Photograph and digital pixel size for upload

Hi Friend, I am bit confuse on Digital Photograph requirement of IRCC. What would be the pixel size of 35 X45. I am finding it is 413 X531 Pixels and 40 KB file size. Can anyone who received PR or his document verified successfully advise please.

I used visaphoto.com to convert my photo. It is having 420X540 Pixel size. Do we need to attach photographer receipt? I am finding in some people are telling to attach photographer receipt in Client Information section?? Basically I got photograph from photographer but he provided 50X 60 MM digital image size so converted it to 420X540 pixel size,  

• The photo must show a full front view of the head and tops of shoulders, with the face in the middle of the photo.
• Size of the head, from chin to crown, must be between 31mm and 36mm.
• Image size: at least 420 x 540 pixels.
• We accept JPEG or JPEG2000 format.
• File size: approximately 240 kB, no more than 4 MB.
• Image must be in colour (24 bits per pixel) in RGB colour space, the common output for most digital cameras.
• The final frame size of the photo must be at least 35mm x 45mm.
• If you scan an existing photo, the minimum resolution must be 600 pixels per inch.
• Final frame size of the photo must be 50mm x 70mm.
• Upload a colour digital photo taken by a commercial photographer (We don't accept black and white photos).
• Scanned photos are not accepted.
• Photo must be taken within the last 6 months.
• Don't use a smart phone to take the photo.
• Don't change the digital photos in any way.

In this case chin should be placed at 425 pixels from top for 36 MM. and at 366 pixels down from top for 31 MM. So above can be used as to validate and verify image you have. Its bit cheap about 2.99 CAD per photo. I would suggest to re-validate converted photograph. one of my friend got technical problem after conversion but site owner helped him to get it correct. My understanding is any size above 70 KB and below 4 Mb is good. Please see Point 'E'. I have uploaded Photograph (front Side) in the Photograph section of application. I also attached Invoice of photograph in Additional information section to proof date and time of photograph. I am not sure if Photograph sections in application allow to attach Front and back both sides of photographs
