Trip Reviews

Great service from begining to end.

We reached out to a number of treking companies, quite last minute when the opportunity came up to go to Nepal. We got a lot of responses but in the end, Discover Altitude had exactly what we were looking for and very helpful along the way. When we arrived in Kathmandu we met at their office and they went into detail about what we could expect and answered all our weird questions!!(first timers!) We were picked up by an excellent driver, met our guide ahead of time( that was the only confusion was if we were getting a guide/ a guide/porter or a guide and porter, it all worked out very well despite zero training on our part. On the last day we hiked up out of Namche,to the helicopter that took us over base camp with a short landing on Kala Patthar before returning back to Lukla and then Kathmandu where Discover Altitude picked us up and generally looked after us from start to finish including a couple of day tours around Kathmandu. It was spectacular , Santosh and Kumar were very caring and you could tell how proud they were of their company and employees.

Great experience in kathmandu.

Kumar was so helpful from the moment I was introduced to him. He listened intently so he could work out the best tour based on our discussion. He was open, transparent, and always prompt to reply to my many messages. He went over and above his call of duty as my visa had expired and without hesitation assisted me in ensuring it was all sorted. He is extremely knowledgeable and was happy to share his knowledge if you make it known to him just how keen you are to hear stories. I would highly recommend Kumar and his team and feel like this review will be sufficient to not have to look any further as he is one of the best you'll ever find in Kathmandu.

Unforgettable experience in beautiful mountains.

This was my first trek in Nepal and it was truly amazing. The trip was very well organized, our guide Thakur was very friendly and always selected great places for rest and food. Our porter Chandra was very helpful and always in the good mood, although he needed to carry a lot more than we did. The surrounding of Manaslu is amazing piece of nature full of wild animals, beautiful plants, breathtaking views and nice locals in the villages. Also the journey to the start of the trek by local transport was unforgettable experience. I would recommend this tour to all trekkers, who are looking for great adventure in beautiful mountains and don't want to share the track with crowds as it could happen at the better known treks around Everest or Annapurna. You should be ready to step out of the comfort zone for few moments - yes, few ascents were challenging due to high altitude and it was very cold one night we spent at Dharmasala - the last village before Larkey Pass. After our comeback to Kathmandu we had very nice lunch with Kumar and Santosh - the guys from Discover Altitude who told us many interesting facts about life in Nepal. All in all it was one of the best experiences in my life and in few years I will definitely come back to Nepal and go for another trek with Discover Altitude.

Fabulous tour & excellent organisation..

I have just completed a private six day tour with three of my Australian girlfriends through Discover Altitude. Dealing with Kumar right from my initial contact has been seamless, communication & planning was excellent. The entire Discover Altitude team gave us an unforgettable holiday & it couldn't have been planned better, fitting in all of our wish list, with Kumar adding rafting on the Trishuli River, a homestay in beautiful Bandipur, hiking to Ramkot, visiting Nagrakot, and a personal tour of Kathmandu by Kumar. One highlight was a cooking class at Sungabha (formerly Seven Sisters), what a worthwhile organisation & an unforgettable afternoon, and thank you Santosh for taking such great photos! We also enjoyed our hike from Telkot to Changunarayan village with Kumar, fabulous day. Our very safe & considerate driver for the entire trip was brilliant. It was a dream holiday & we can't thank Kumar & his team enough for giving us a holiday of a lifetime!

Leanne C , Australia

Fabulous day with fantastic guide kumar.

Great tour with fantastic guide Kumar! We did a full day Bhaktapur trip and then Nagarkot hike. Kumal was an awesome guide, he had so many stories to share and answered our many many questions. The hike to Nagarkot was nice, unfortunately the view of the Himalayas was obstructed by clouds but a nice easy walk through some forest and then along a paved road through Nepalese villages. A great trip!

Everest base camp trek with helicopter return..

Unbelievable trip. Extremely well organised from airport pick up to drop off. The entire team - Kumar, Santosh, Amar and our porter took great care of us from preparation before the trip to purchasing the odd forgotten piece of kit in Kathmandu and then the trek itself. Amar our guide and our porter were very attentive the entire trek and were a pleasure to spend time with. Amar taught us about Nepalese/sherpa/tibeten culture and gave us an explanation of each location. Everyone on the trek felt very safe and well looked after. I also highly recommend the chopper flight back. Once in a lifetime thing to experience. After we returned to Kathmandu I booked two more day tours with Kumar who personally acted as our guide and gave us fantastic explanations of each location and of Kathmandu’s history and culture. Will definitely be using this company again, next time we visit Nepal.

Tim D , United Kingdom

Amazing tour company.

My husband and I did a number of day tours with Discover Altitude. Kumal, our guide was amazing. He is so knowledgeable and makes his tours so interesting. He was very helpful and tailored the tours to ensure we had the best experience. Our driver Ram, was also excellent. I highly recommend Kumal and his company if you are visiting Nepal. Thanks so much for making our visit so memorable. I hope to see you again.

kim h , Australia

Excellent company to tour nepal with.

The trip has been wonderful from start to finish. We were lucky to have a few different tour guides throughout our time and they were all lots of fun and very informative. Our driver was highly skilled, considerate and caring. The rafting was a highlight but the cooking lesson organised by the company was outstanding. Mr Kumar is a lovely person who really cares about his clients. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he accommodated our every wish.

Itinerary of Mardi Himal Trek

The itinerary for the Mardi Himal Trek will be nine days. The 9-day itinerary includes the journey of arrival to Kathmandu from Malaysia to the Departure section.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

After giving you some time to rest in your Hotel, we will meet again to discuss the itinerary for the trek to Mardi Himal briefly.

Day 2: Flight\Ride to Pokhara

The next day, we will fly to Pokhara early in the morning, approximately 20 to 25 minutes. Taking a flight is more comfortable and time-saving than taking a ride.

Driving to Pokhara from Kathmandu will take approximately 6 to 7 hours. The route to Pokhara leads you from the Prithvi Highway, which has beautiful scenery of riverside valleys; during the drive, we will rest in several places to have a portion of food.

After reaching the Pokhara, we will move to the comfortable Hotel.

Day 3: Drive to Kande and Trek to Deurali

After having a warm breakfast in the Hotel of Pokhara Lakeside, we will drive an hour to Kande and enjoy beautiful views of diverse landscapes and Himalayan ranges.

We begin the trek to Mardi Himal, where Kande is the starting point. Lunch will be at Australian Base Camp, where you can enjoy the photo session.

Trek to Deurali from Kande is a short trek of approximately 4 to 5 hours. The trek heads through the beautiful route and the mesmerizing view of Mount Macchapuchhre. We will stay overnight in the Deurali tea house.

Day 4: Trek to Forest Camp

On the fourth day of our trek to Mardi Himal, we will have breakfast and leave for the trek to Forest Camp.

We will ascent to the forest camp from Deurali, where the beautiful chirping melody of various species of birds will be heard. Trek to Forest Camp is an isolated trail with a stunning view of the green forests of oak and the national flower of Nepal, the Rhododendron.

Forest Camp is elevated at 2540 meters above sea level, where we rest after continuing our journey to Mardi Himal. Overnight will be at the teahouse.

Day 5: Trek to High Camp

The trail from the fifth day will be slightly difficult compared to previous days. However, the outcome will be more impressive.

After having a warm breakfast, we will continue our trek to High Camp, enjoying the scenery of the dense Alpine, Maple, and orchid forests.

High Camp is at an altitude of 3580 meters, offering a spectacular view of the Mountain ranges, including Machhapucchre, Annapurna, and Himchuli.

We ensure that you will be amazed by the breathtaking view of these mountains. Overnight, we will be at the tea house.

Day 6: Mardi Himal Base Camp

We will follow a single track through the hill ridge of the region after having a warm breakfast at the teahouse.

It would be best if you were more careful from now on as we are heading through the snowy path that is extremely slippery.

After reaching the top of the Mardi Himal Base Camp, elevated at an altitude of 4500 meters, you cannot take your eyes away for even a minute. The mesmerizing view of Mount Annapurna, Fishtail, Dhaulagiri, and Mardi Himal appears right before you.

Tea houses are not available in the high camp, so we will eat a packed lunch and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the mountains. After some time, we will return to the base camp and spend overnight there.

Day 7: Trek to Siding and drive to Pokhara

After breakfast, we will start our descending journey from High Camp to Siding (Low Camp). We will stop in some places to rest, as hiking down is not that easy.

After reaching Sidhing, we will take a private Jeep to the Pokhara Hotel and spend overnight there.

Day 8: Drive back to Kathmandu

From here, your journey to Mardi Himal, Pokhara, ends, and we will return to Kathmandu. On our way to Kathmandu, we will take the same route as before on Prithivi Highway through the beautiful landscapes, bank of rivers, and rice fields.

Otherwise, the option of taking a flight is also available, which is more comfortable than taking a road route to Kathmandu.

Overnight will be at the Hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 9 is the last day of your journey. Our representative will drop you off at the Tribhuvan International Airport after breakfast at the Hotel.

How to reach Nepal

Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, is the main point of entry into the country. Of all the ways to reach Nepal, the most convenient way is by flight. Direct flights to Kathmandu from Delhi are operated by airlines like Air India, Indigo Airlines, and Nepal Airlines.

Flight connections to Kathmandu are also available from other Indian cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Kolkata, Ahmedabad etc.

Indians looking for budget options to reach Nepal also sometimes take the land route via Nepalgunj by crossing the India – Nepal border and continuing on to Kathmandu, but this is not the most convenient and time-efficient way to arrange your Nepal travel.

Nepal Visa for Indians

If you are planning a Nepal trip, you will be pleased to learn that Indians do not require a visa to travel to Nepal. Indian nationals travelling to Nepal can enter by just showing either their passport or voter ID (and school or college ID in the case of children).
