Chevrolet's new virtual auto shows and more EVs headed to the lineup

chevy live tour

Chevrolet is launching a sort of virtual auto show as part of a new online link that allows consumers to shop for a Chevrolet vehicle.

Chevy MyWay , which is part of Chevy.com, launched Wednesday as a pilot to train the product specialists who will work one-on-one with consumers. Chevrolet will ramp up the site over the next few weeks to two months.

It is similar to Cadillac Live , which is General Motors' luxury brand's digital showroom. There, a product specialist gives a consumer a personalized tour of Cadillac cars.

Chevy MyWay will offer a '"virtual auto show" function too so that, "If there are folks in the Upper Peninsula who can't make it to Detroit, they can go on it and walk the virtual floor to see the vehicles Chevrolet is displaying," said Megan Soule, Chevrolet spokeswoman.

The expansion into the realm of virtual customer relations is the result of the coronavirus pandemic, which caused most major auto shows, including the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, to be postponed. The Detroit show was pushed back from June 2020 until late September 2021.

'Physical experience matters'

During a Wednesday business briefing, Chevrolet executives said live auto shows remain important and will not go away.

“We certainly see a role for that physical engagement with the product," said Steve Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “It means a lot for people to be a part of something bigger and the physical experience matters, auto shows matter and vehicle reveals matter."

Chevy MyWay will be "a big part of our sales arsenal in 2021 and beyond," Majoros said.

The Chevy MyWay live tour function runs from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. just this Wednesday. There are five product specialists on the Chevy MyWay site, versus Cadillac’s three.

"Consumers will have the ability to join a tour to learn about one of the 15 Chevy models on site," Soule said, adding they can book a future tour if they visit the site after hours.

As the site moves forward the operational hours be 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, Soule said.

More EVs coming

Beyond that announcement, Majoros said Chevrolet will be accelerating its electric vehicle offerings.

"There's a lot of news happening at (Consumer Electronics Show) next week and there’ll be a lot of news with Chevrolet being a part of it," Majoros said.

Sales of the electric Chevrolet Bolt jumped 26.4% to 20,754 for 2020 compared with 2019 and the brand has "very aggressive goals in 2021 with both the Bolt and the Bolt EUV," Majoros said. The 2022 Bolt EUV compact SUV will be on the same second-generation Battery Electric Vehicle architecture as the Bolt.

An updated Bolt and the EUV, which will get GM's hands-free Super Cruise technology, will launch this summer.

Beyond that, Chevrolet will get four vehicles off GM's new Ultium battery system. That's GM's large-format battery with pouch-style cells that can be stacked vertically or horizontally inside the pack. It optimizes battery energy storage and layout for each vehicle's design.

GM CEO Mary Barra told analysts last fall that Chevrolet will get electric vehicles on the Ultium platform in the form of a pickup and a compact SUV. She has not announced the other two or provided any other specifics on timing.

Barra will give the keynote address at CES next Tuesday. GM is expected to announce news around her talk this Friday, as analysts speculate GM will offer an electric version of the hot-selling Silverado pickup.

GM has promised to bring 30 new EVs to market by 2025. Late last year, GMC leaders told dealers that GM will reveal an all-electric GMC Sierra pickup "soon," as first reported by the Free Press.

GM will launch the 2022 GMC Hummer all-electric pickup truck, built at Factory ZERO in Detroit and Hamtramck, late this year.

GM will also offer an SUV version of the Hummer, expected to be revealed this year. The Hummer Edition 1 pickup, priced over $100,000, already has 10,000 preorders.

GM's New Website Will Answer Your Electric Vehicle Questions Now

EV drivers and shoppers have questions, and General Motors' EV Live platform has answers.

2024 silverado ev rst

  • A new website run by GM offers live, one-on-one question and answer sessions for anyone curious about the benefits of owning an EV.
  • You can book a “tour” with an EV specialist to learn about home and public charging, battery technology, and other topics. Users can see the specialist and ask questions via voice or text, but the video stream only goes one way.
  • GM says the mission here is to sell the EV experience, not just more GM EVs.

“EV Live lets us meet people where they are and have a real conversation about electrification,” Hoss Hassani, GM vice president of EV Ecosystem, said in a statement. “We’re selling the EV experience, rather than specific EVs.”

GM is correct that some car buyers could use a helping hand to better understand electric vehicles. A May study by J.D. Power found that 24 percent of car shoppers said they are “very likely” to consider an EV for their next vehicle. Thirty percent of the people who were not interested in EVs said the reason was a lack of information. “Because firsthand experience with EV technology is still not entirely commonplace, shoppers need to be better informed about the ownership experience they offer,” J.D. Power said about the survey results.

The Q&A tours happen at a sort of virtual customer information booth called the EV Live studio. To visit, the EV-curious need to make an appointment at the EV Live website or, if you’re lucky, you can sign up for an on-demand live tour, if a host is currently available.

During your time with the host, you can ask questions via voice or text chat. The EV specialist will provide an answer, possibly with an assist from one of the website’s dynamic displays about home and public charging, battery technology, the sustainability of EVs, possible commercial applications, and information about how GM’s EVs connect with smartphone apps.

Currently, GM is only offering one-on-one tours, but group tours will be available later this year. GM will also provide prerecorded sessions in the future, if you just want to watch and not interact with a host. EV Live offers a one-way live video feed during tours so the guest can hear and see the host, but the host has no ability to see video from anyone taking the tour.

EV Live will conduct live sessions seven days a week between 9 am and midnight Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Fridays and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the weekends (Eastern time).

Chevy Chase waves to the crowd at Comic Con.

“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” isn’t just playing on cable this year.

From Nov. 26 through Dec. 28, the classic 1989 film will screen at nine venues all over North America as part of a nationwide tour.

Better yet, each showing will be followed by a Q&A with star Chevy Chase where he’ll share behind-the-scenes stories from his time on set and take questions from the crowd about his “Saturday Night Live,” “Caddyshack” and “Three Amigos” days.

For those in New York and New Jersey, you can catch the “Community” actor on tour at Buffalo, NY’s Sheas Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Dec. 6 and Newark, NJ’s New Jersey Performing Arts Center on Friday, Dec. 15.

As of now, tickets are available for all shows this holiday season.

Some seats are quite cheap, too .

At the time of publication, our team found some tickets going for as low as $16 before fees on Vivid Seats.

To be fair, most other shows are a bit pricier — seats start anywhere from $40 to $70 before fees for all other gigs based on our findings.

Chevy Chase controversy

Over the years, Chase has stirred up trouble with comedians in his circle.

In 1978, he engaged in fisticuffs with fellow ‘SNL’ cast member Bill Murray backstage in John Belushi’s dressing room.

Decades later, Chase was banned from hosting “Saturday Night Live” after a number of incidents where he derided ‘Not Ready For Primetime Players’ and writers with homophobic and sexist slurs; he also reportedly slapped Cheri Oteri in the back of the head.

This century, the now 80-year-old comic starred in NBC’s “Community” until the fourth season when they cut him loose. Chase allegedly verbally abused Donald Glover with a barrage of racist insults and slurs which led to the firing.

After losing EV market share in the US in the first three months of 2024, GM believes it can turn things around. GM expects new models like the Chevy Equinox EV and improved battery production will help regain EV market share in the second half of the year.

A record first quarter, but what about EVs?

GM raised full-year guidance after topping Wall St estimates and achieving its best Q1 revenue. The company’s revenue rose 8% to $43 billion with a consistent +15% CAGR growth over the past 24 months.

Although Ultium-based vehicle deliveries were up 36% during the quarter, total EV sales slid over 20% YOY as the company’s cheapest Chevy Bolt EV was phased out.

GM’s Cadillac Lyriq and GMC Hummer EV both saw solid sales growth in Q1, with 5,800 (+499%) and 1,668 units sold, respectively. The Blazer EV (600) and Silverado EV (1,061) contributed to the Ultium sales growth.

However, it wasn’t enough to maintain market share in the US EV market. With Chevy Bolt EV sales down 64% to just 7,040, GM lost market share from Q4.

Chevy-Bolt-EV

GM accounted for 6.2% of the US EV market in the first three months of 2024. That’s down from 8.4% a year ago and 6.9% last quarter.

Of the over 594,000 vehicles GM sold in the US in Q1, only 16,425, or about 2.7% of them, were EVs.

GM to ramp EV market share and profitability

After missing its EV sales targets over the past two years, GM believes it’s finally exiting “production hell” with high hopes for the second half of 2024.

GM aims to build around 200,000 to 300,000, or about 20X more Ultium EVs this year than in 2023. Although that may seem drastic, it’s still down from GM’s initial 400,000 EV production goal through mid-2024.

Chevy-Equinox-EV-prices

CEO Mary Barra says 2024 will be the “year of execution” as it looks to get back on track. In the first quarter, GM said battery module production increased 300% over the past six months.

The company plans to double its current capacity by the end of summer, which GM believes can help it regain US EV market share.

GM-EV-market-share

Cadillac’s Lyriq accounted for 20% of brand sales in Q1, second to only the Escalade. With 50% of Lyriq buyers new to GM and 70% new to Cadillac, the brand believes the electric crossover will continue seeing strong demand.

New models coming to boost market share

Meanwhile, the new electric Chevy Equinox, which GM says is the most affordable EV with over 300 miles range, is already available to order.

Starting at $34,995 (including destination), the Chevy Equinox EV will be one of the cheapest EVs on the US market. However, that’s for the 1LT trim, which will be available later this year.

Top comment by Noah Mayer

Never underestimate Chevy and their ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Joking aside, I hope they can make a lot of the 1LT trims so people can get relatively cheap EVs. Even $35k-40k is a lot, $7500 off helps. And in most places, the monthly fuel savings should make it a better deal

The current cheapest 2LT trim starts at $43,295. With the tax credit, the Chevy Equinox EV price could fall as low as $35,295.

Chevy’s Blazer EV is also eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. Following recent price cuts , the Blazer EV can be bought for as low as $50,195. With the credit, it can be bought for as little as $42,695.

Chevy-Blazer-EV-reimbursement

GM also revealed the 2024 Silverado EV RST will have “more range than any EV pickup,” with up to 440 miles range (GM estimated). It will be available in mid-2024 with up to 10,000 lbs max towing. The GMC Sierra EV Denali is also expected to reach 440 miles range and have similar towing power.

Cadillac will expand its lineup with the CELESTIQ, OPTIQ, and Escalade IQ launching. With the new models, GM says its EV business is on track to achieve a positive variable profit in the second half of 2024.

Inside ‘Jeopardy!' Live On Tour – What Fans Need To Know

R ecently, Jeopardy! fans got their first taste of Jeopardy! Live On Tour. Although most of the event didn’t disappoint, there were a few snags while getting the show off the ground. But this is just the start of the tour for Ken Jennings , Michael Davies, and Sarah Whitcomb-Foss. Fans can get excited for future stops, but tickets might be difficult to secure.

Jeopardy! Live On Tour

For the first time ever, Jeopardy! is taking the show on the road across the United States. On Friday, the Live On Tour made its debut in New York City. While future dates aren’t available just yet, the seating is limited and the tickets are a hot commodity. However, the inaugural event was well received at the Edge in Hudson Yards. Additionally, it was hosted on the 101st floor overlooking the area. Furthermore, 230 attendees were strategically lined around the small stage. Undoubtedly, starting precisely at 6:30 p.m. as advertised, the Executive Producer, Michael Davies , and producer, Sarah Whitcomb-Foss , took the stage as the show’s emcees.

Elevating Jeopardy!

Upon the stage were seats for the open panel discussion, sandwiched between two large-screen TV monitors on either end. Offering tribute to former host, Alex Trebek, the opening showed rare photos of him through the years. Additionally, the carousel included the first episode of Jeopardy! with Alex running the show in 1964. Furthermore, playing off the height of the building, the producers joked about their plans to “elevate” Jeopardy with the new tour.

Attendees Are The First To Know

While the event was a live taping of the Inside Jeopardy! podcast, the attendees were the first to know some exclusive information. Notably, one tidbit shared was new eligibility rules allowing Kids Week, Teen Tournament, and College Jeopardy contestants to re-enter the contestant pool.

Interestingly, Michael Davies teases he has a more “aggressive proposal” for bending the eligibility rules even further. Additionally, he would like to give any past players, including huge champions, the option to re-audition for the nightly show after 10 years. Jokingly, he adds, "We'll see if I can get it past Sarah or our colleagues at Sony." But Sarah Whitcomb-Foss isn’t budging currently, responding, "Not yet."

Jeopardy! Producers Give More Surprising News

During the Live On Tour event, the producers also name Amy Schneider as the last contestant for Masters. Admittedly, Michael Davies says, "We have to acknowledge there were several worthy people. But one person stood above everybody else.” Further explaining their choice, he adds, "I've got to believe they can go on that stage in Masters and beat everybody.” Then acknowledges another underlying matter, "Secondly, we're a TV program. We depend on ratings." Undeniably, Amy’s built-in following is a strong bonus for her case. Since Amy placed in the bottom three in last year’s Masters and also lost to Victoria Groce in the recent JIT , Jeopardy! fans gave some pushback on the choice.

Along with the producers, the Live On Tour had special guests from the upcoming Masters, contenders: Mattea Roach and Matt Amodio. Admittedly, since last year’s Masters, Matt has been brushing up on his skills. He says, “While I haven’t learned everything I set out to achieve, I feel like a stronger competitor.” Additionally, Celebrity Jeopardy! finalist Katie Nolan came on stage. She comments that Ken Jennings didn’t speak to her backstage and preferred to sit “alone in a corner.”

Last But Not Least

But “loner” Ken Jennings , wasn’t shy when he took the stage. While he was the “last but not least” guest on the agenda, he was welcomed with a standing ovation from the crowd. Undeniably, Michael Davies praises him for “winning the job.” Additionally, he gives him kudos for making it look easy, even though it isn’t. Without a doubt, Mayim Bialik can attest to that. While answering questions, Ken fields one about his hosting challenges. He answers, “I found Final Jeopardy very difficult at first.” Admittedly, he also acknowledges the “endless tournaments” this season weren’t what they had planned. However, one of the best parts he says is “I can enjoy these high-pressure situations stress-free.”

Each Show Is Unique

Although there are plenty of stops ahead for the Live On Tour show, each will be unique. For instance, the tour is likely to change up the show stars. In the case of this first event, attendees did not know who would be interviewing before arrival. Sadly, one of the big disappointments for some attendees was the mobile Jeopardy! game was glitching at the event. When playing the multiple-choice competition, the attendees use their phones to interact. However, for Final Jeopardy, attendees could write in their responses. Unfortunately, only one-third of the participants got to log on and try it out.

  • One Reddit fan says, “230 attendees and only 80 of us got to play.”
  • “[Producer] Sarah was pretty upset about it, though, at the happy hour after. I have no doubt they'll fix it for future events.”
  • “Great event though, and strongly encourage folks in other cities to attend.”
  • “Yes, was there and unable to connect. It was fun to watch, but I was bummed we couldn't participate because their program couldn't handle it.”
  • “All in all a very fun time, though.”

Jeopardy! Live On Tour Is Selling Fast!

All in all, the event was fabulous. According to The Sun , during the event, guests could visit a corner bar with Jeopardy! themed “Potent Potables.” Furthermore, exclusive merchandise was available for purchase. Likewise, fans were in for a treat because the star contestants stayed around after to mingle with everyone. For this event, tickets were $40 for general admission, $60 for premium (which offered a tote bag), and $200 for VIP. Included in the VIP package was an after-party with the contestants. Although the new dates aren’t available yet, Jeopardy! fans will want to be ready to go because the New York City show sold out in a matter of minutes.

Imagine Dragons’ sixth studio album LOOM represents the pinnacle of their artistic journey of self-discovery and marks the best body of work they’ve ever made. LOOM , produced entirely by Imagine Dragons and their longtime collaborators Mattman and Robin, finds the perfect balance between the classic sounds that have made them superstars and the freshness that brought them joy in the studio. Featuring 9 brand new tracks including hit single “Eyes Closed”, LOOM signifies new beginnings on the horizon – the excitement for a new day, moments yet to come.

Last year, the members of Imagine Dragons found themselves with a rare and well-deserved break from the road—perhaps their longest in many years. So, they made the most of it by devoting that time to family and friends. Catalyzed by this respite with a refreshed perspective, the band rallied together in the studio and mined the same well of inspiration that fed their most beloved material. The musicians reflected on the past in order to catapult into a future where stylistic boundaries have disappeared entirely and anything is possible creatively. This journey has brought them to their most dynamic and definitive body of work to date, LOOM .

To herald LOOM , the band recently shared their soaring new anthem entitled “Eyes Closed.” Check out the video HERE . The track illuminates their penchant for boundary-breaking. Stretching the limits of the soundscape almost to the breaking point, they harness a burst of energy with a rafter-reaching refrain primed to soar on the upcoming summer tour.

Since emerging in 2009, they’ve scored five consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 with Night Visions [2012] (7x-platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Smoke+Mirrors [2015] (platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Evolve [2017] (triple-platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Origins [2018] (platinum)(KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), and Mercury – Act 1 [2021]( KIDinaKORNER/Interscope). The hit single “Bones,” featured on Mercury Act 2, went to number one at Alternative Radio and remains in the Global Top 50 on Spotify. The band’s hit collaboration with East Atlanta-based rapper J.I.D, “Enemy,” has racked up billions of global streams and landed at #6 on the IFPI Global Singles Chart for 2022. Dominating radio, they remain one of only four bands to ever achieve consecutive Top 5 singles at Alternative radio, and the only band to repeat this feat. Most recently, Imagine Dragons made history on Spotify, as “Bad Liar” became their 10th song to surpass 1 billion streams. The band now holds the crown for the group with most billion-plus streamed songs, becoming the first in the platform’s history to have ten songs reach this milestone. Imagine Dragons earned an impressive four nominations for the 2022 American Music Awards including “Favorite Pop Duo or Group,” “Favorite Rock Artist,” “Favorite Rock Album” and “Favorite Rock Song.” The band was also nominated for “Group of 2022” for the 2022 People’s Choice Awards. Neil Young Stuns at 2024 Tour Launch, Unveils Lost ‘Cortez the Killer’ Verse

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

In typical Neil Young fashion, virtually nothing was revealed about his 2024 U.S. tour before it kicked off Wednesday night at San Diego’s Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre, other than the fact he’d be backed by Crazy Horse , and that Micah Nelson would be taking over guitar duties from Nils Lofgren. Would he pull a Greendale and debut an entire rock opera nobody had ever heard? Would he focus the set around the three new studio albums he cut with Crazy Horse between 2019 and 2022? Might he repeat the concept of his 2023 solo tour by spotlighting obscure Eighties and Nineties album tracks and skipping most of his hits?

They jammed for six minutes before Young sang the opening lines, igniting the crowd into a frenzy, but the big moment came near the end, when he began singing completely unfamiliar words. As he teased earlier this month , it was the legendary lost segment of the song that failed to record during the 1975 Zuma sessions because the console briefly lost power. Young recently found the lyric manuscript, and worked out where they originally fit in the song.

“I floated on the water,” Young sang. “I ate that ocean wave/Two weeks after the slaughter/I was living in a cave/They came too late to get me/But there’s no one here to set me free/From this rocky grave/To that snowed-out ocean wave.”

It was a remarkable moment to witness. After 49 years and over 540 live performances, the world finally got to hear the song as Young originally wrote it.

Young was talking about “Scattered (Let’s Think About Livin’),” from 1996’s Broken Arrow, which was the newest song they played all evening. The rest of the set was music recorded when Briggs was alive, largely between 1969 and 1979, beginning with “Don’t Cry No Tears.” He followed it up with a triple shot of Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere : “Down by the River,” “The Losing End,” and the title track. And it was a particularly mesmerizing “Down by the River” that stretched out for 16 blissful minutes.

After the Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere mini-set, the quartet (Crazy Horse 4.0?) kicked into one of the greatest renditions of “Powderfinger” I’ve ever heard, thanks to improvisational guitar work prior to each verse by Young and Nelson. What came next was a 16-minute “Love and Only Love,” the band walking offstage, and then Young strapping on an harmonica rack for solo acoustic renditions of “Comes a Time,” “Heart of Gold,” and “Human Highway” that had the entire amphitheater singing along.

The band returned to wrap up the night with “Don’t Be Denied,” an autobiographical tale that carries a lot more emotional weight when Young sings it at age 78 as opposed to 28, and a thrashed-out “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black).”

He might duplicate this exact set when the tour continues the following night at the same venue. He might not repeat a single song. He may even perform a complete classic album, which is something he started doing late last year. The joy of seeing Neil Young is that you never have any idea what’s going to happen once the lights dim.

Celine Dion was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022 and is opening up about how she’s learning to live with the rare autoimmune neurological disorder.

In a new interview, the Canadian singer discusses her health and says if she’ll return to touring.

Celine Dion Makes Surprise Appearance At The Grammys Amid Stiff Person Syndrome Diagnosis

She continued, “Five days a week I undergo athletic, physical and vocal therapy. I work on my toes, my knees, my calves, my fingers, my singing, my voice… I have to learn to live with it now and stop questioning myself. At the beginning I would ask myself: why me? How did this happen? What have I done? Is this my fault?”

Dion says she doesn’t have the answers as to why she got this illness and she only has two options, “Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it’s over, I stay at home, listen to my songs, stand in front of my mirror and sing to myself. I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!”

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer says that it’s her family, children, and fans that keep her strong and is grateful she has the means to have good doctors and treatments, adding, “I have this strength within me. I know that nothing is going to stop me.”

Since being diagnosed with SPS, Dion has been largely kept out of the public eye. In February of this year, she made a surprise appearance at the Grammys and presented an award to Taylor Swift .

When asked about getting back on stage and touring again, Dion said, “I can’t answer that… Because for four years I’ve been saying to myself that I’m not going back, that I’m ready, that I’m not ready… As things stand, I can’t stand here and say to you: ‘Yes, in four months’ [I will return]. I don’t know… My body will tell me.”
