If you have ever wanted to enjoy an immersive Harry Potter afternoon tea in London then I would recommend the Cutter and Squidge Potion Room in Soho! 

It’s a spell-binding experience where you can attend your very own Potion’s Class and start to brew up some magic whilst enjoying delectable food. 

You’ll feel like you have been transported to a wizarding world where you can cast your wand with enchantments, stir your cauldron, and munch on magical treats.

What is the Harry Potter Afternoon Tea at Cutter & Squidge?

If you have ever wanted to attend Severus Snape’s Potion Class at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry then this is your chance! 

The Cutter and Squidge Potion Room afternoon tea is an immersive experience where you can brew potions, cast spells, and eat amazing food under the instruction of a Potion’s Master! 

But, instead of having to catch the Hogwarts Express, you can enjoy this right in the heart of Soho which is in Muggle London! 

Note: although this is a magically themed tea, Cutter & Squidge is not affiliated with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in any way. But, don’t worry, it will still feel like you’ve been transported to Hogwarts!

What to expect at the Cutter & Squidge Harry Potter afternoon tea

As per the instructions, you must arrive at Cutter & Squidge 15-minutes prior to your booked appointment. But, be warned that they may ask you to wait outside if it’s a busy day in the bakery.

You’ll then all walk down to Potion’s Class and be seated at your desks/school tables. They will already be prepared with your wands and some of the ingredients you’ll need for your first welcome potion! 

Your Potion’s master/mistress will then appear to guide and entertain you while you work your way through the instructions. 

I won’t give too much away but you will honestly feel like you’re attending Snape’s class at Hogwarts…although the professors are much friendlier and funnier in Cutter & Squidge! 

What’s the food like at the Harry Potter Afternoon Tea?

I had already studied the menu before booking this afternoon tea and so I knew what we were going to eat. But, of course, how it’s delivered and presented was all a complete surprise! 

We had our welcome drink and were already instructed in our Potion’s Classroom to brew some iced galaxy teas that changed colour while mixing. We also had our wands and were casting enchantments in the process.

We could then select our hot tea from a magical menu. I actually picked the unicorn tears tea it was a berry flavoured and a vibrant shade of pink!  

A while later, we received all of our food and it was lovingly presented in a Hedwig style cage which added to the Harry Potter style experience.

The savoury dishes

This is where I feel the Cutter and Squidge Potion Room afternoon tea excels as an experience as the savoury dishes here were AMAZING!

All the food included in the savoury menu was Harry Potter-inspired and felt like something you could find on the menu of the Leaky Cauldron. It was also a lot more creative than your typical finger sandwiches.

On the plate was a proper pie with leek and potato filling, sandwiches with honey-roasted ham and a ploughman’s filler. We even got a Yorkshire pudding with roast beef! Everything was full of flavour and absolutely scrumptious.

Of course, if you have specific dietary requirements they can also cater the menu around you. They provide gluten/wheat-free, vegetarian and vegan. Always check with Cutter & Squidge before you book!

All of the sweet magic!

It wouldn’t be an afternoon tea without some sweet treats to finish off the experience. 

Cutter & Squidge is a famous bakery in London and so I knew that they would have some incredible dessert offerings to bring to the table. 

The desserts were again unique and creative and were designed with a Harry Potter theme. We had a Butterscotch Biskie which looked like a Golden Snitch and a Knickerbocker Pot with some colourful sprinkles.

There was also a separate owl delivery of fresh rock cakes in a paper bag (scones). These came with lashings of jam and cream. Of course, we had to eat them quickly before they turned into real rocks!

Then, we finished off the meal with a cauldron of boiling white chocolate cake! We got to add our own popping candy to the broth to add a little snap, crackle, and pop! It was honestly so fun.

I felt like the food in the Potion Room was just the right mix of sweet and savoury dishes for this afternoon tea. 

Everything on the menu not only looked good and was creatively designed but it also tasted amazing too.

I was so stuffed by the end of my potion’s class that I felt sleepy and needed a lie-down, haha! So, make sure to arrive with lots of room!

How much is the Cutter & Squidge Harry Potter afternoon tea in London?  

The Cutter and Squidge Potion Room experience is currently £49.50 per adult and £39.50 per child. They also offer some VIP tickets that cost £79.50 per adult and £54.50 per child.

The difference between the normal afternoon tea experience and the VIP experience is that firstly you get to sit closer to the potion’s instructor.

You also get two cocktails as part of your experience (these usually cost extra) and a goodie bag with lots of extra treats inside from their shop. The bag includes mugs, magical teas, and more!

Although it can seem expensive, the price of this afternoon tea experience is standard for London prices. I thought it was worth every penny.

Is the Cutter & Squidge Harry Potter Afternoon Tea worth it? 

As a huge Potterhead and lover of anything magical, I had an incredible time at the Cutter and Squidge Harry Potter afternoon tea.

As soon as you descend into their Potion Room, you’ll instantly feel like you’ve entered Hogwarts and have fun trying to spell cast and brew your own potions.

Beyond it being immersive and magical, the most important part of an afternoon tea is obviously the food and I felt that their menu ticked all the boxes. It was creative, entertaining, and delicious.

I would 100% recommend this experience to Potterheads or anyone that loves magical, fantasy, or immersive experiences. You won’t regret it!

How to get to Cutter & Squidge Bakery in Soho

Cutter & Squidge café & tearoom can be found in central London within the Soho District. 

Their full address is 20 Brewer Street, Soho, London, W1F 0SJ. Here is a Google Pin .

The easiest way to visit them is to catch the London Underground or the Tube and walk over to the tearoom.  Remember, you need to arrive at least 15 minutes before your magical experience begins to get checked in.

The nearest Tube Station for Cutter & Squidge would be Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, and Tottenham Court Road . All of these stations are less than a 5-minute walk to the bakery!

There are plenty more locations that you can seek out if you’re a Potterhead in London! 

After your visit to Cutter & Squidge, there are many Harry Potter locations in this area around Soho. You could visit here in between The Cursed Child performances at the Palace Theatre or visit the House of MinaLima.

The Harry Potter Photographic Exhibition is also in Covent Garden nearby that is home to London’s only Butterbeer Bar .

Or you can visit some of the inspirations for Diagon Alley like Cecil Court and Goodwin’s Court.

Talking of Diagon Alley, one of my favourite locations I visited has to be Leadenhall Market . A gorgeous Victorian wonder that featured as the entrance to the Leaky Cauldron and Diagon Alley.

There are also many other filming locations to visit like King’s Cross Station with the Harry Potter Shop and trolley photo at Platform 9 3/4 . Also, Claremont Square was the Order of the Phoenix HQ. Or, visit the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel where Ron flies his Ford Anglia!

I would then catch the tube over to the River Thames to see sights like the Millennium Bridge , Tower Bridge , London City Hall, and Borough Market that all featured as filming locations.

You can head into St Paul’s Cathedral to see their Geometric Staircase that was the Divination Stairwell at Hogwarts. 

You could then finish the day off with immersive experiences like magical cocktails at The Cauldron.

Of course, the ultimate Harry Potter experience can be found on the Warner Brothers Studio Tour . This has plenty of sets, props, and costumes from the movies. You can even walk down a real Diagon Alley, see how they filmed Hogwarts Castle and sip on Butterbeer. 

If you can I would recommend a visit around one of their special events like the Dark Arts at Halloween or Hogwarts in the Snow .

3 Best Harry Potter Afternoon Teas in London (Personally Tested)

Visiting a Harry Potter afternoon tea in London is, without a doubt, one of the most magical things to do in London. So far, I’ve only had the chance to try two such wondrous places, but don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

Here’s an honest review of my experiences, and I’ve also done some extra research to include a few more locations that are definitely on my must-visit list for when I next find myself in London.

Each place I visited has vegetarian and vegan options, I always had the vegan option. You can check out the menu at each place on their official webpage.

3 Best Harry Potter Afternoon Tea in London (Personally Tested)

1. georgian house hotel.

The Georgian House Hotel London was where I had my very first Harry Potter afternoon tea experience. It was a birthday gift during our trip to London last August , and since it was my first Harry Potter afternoon tea I thought it was quite magical.

The building and the entrance hall don’t look magical at all but as soon as you walk down the steps into the cellar, where the afternoon tea is hosted, you hear Harry Potter music and you get to put on a wizard’s hat.

The food is placed in a serving tray that looks like an owl cage cut through the middle. The vegan food was good and there were some unique dishes to try.

The most magical experience during the afternoon tea experience was a steaming cauldron. However, it was a bit of a shame that the cauldron is just decoration, you can’t drink the content or anything like that.

In summary, the Harry Potter ambiance could have been emphasized a bit more. The decorations were quite minimalistic, and the afternoon tea didn’t include any Harry Potter-themed activities.

2. Wizard Exploratorium

Located in the bustling district of Soho, the Wizard Exploratorium is nestled near Mina Lima, one of the most unique Harry Potter gift shops in London .

My afternoon tea experience here was nothing short of magical from start to finish. As soon as you step through the doors, you’re surrounded by items that immediately transport you into the wizarding world of the Harry Potter universe.

Guests are invited to wait as a group before being ushered into the dining area on the second floor, where a lucky few, including myself, received wizard robes to wear.

The afternoon tea was guided by a lively moderator who entertained us with enthralling anecdotes steeped in the fantastical lore of Harry Potter.

Every detail is meticulously designed to stay true to the theme, right down to the wand given to each table. Waving this wand grabs the attention of the staff member should you need anything.

One of the coolest experiences was the tea brewing station. It’s inside a wooden chest where small glass vials are filled with various tea ingredients, allowing you to mix your own tea — it was like being in a potions class.

The food was okay but not extraordinary; however, the spellbinding atmosphere more than made up for it. It’s one of the cool things to do in London Soho .

3. Cutter and Squidge

Another popular location for Harry Potter afternoon tea in London is Cutter and Squidge . They used to have interactive potion-making afternoon teas, unfortunately, they stopped those but you can still get afternoon tea in their so-called Common Room.

The Common Room is located in the cellar of the bakery. It got a bit of a dark mystical air with some electronic candles hanging in the air, broomsticks on the wall, and fake windows with. dragons flying past outside.

The decoration is very on point with the Harry Potter theme. Unfortunately, you don’t get a hat or wizard’s robe and there are no interactive magical experiences.

Everyone gets their meal served inside a box that looks like a big book. Once you finish the food from your book, you can get more food from the buffet. All the buffet items are clearly labeled as vegetarian or vegan if applicable.

At first glance, I was disappointed by the limited selection of vegan items at the buffet but they brought some more vegan things out later. Just ask the friendly staff or keep checking for additional food. They even have vegan gummies, a big bonus! All in all, it’s a good place to be vegan in Soho London .

Other Harry Potter themed Afternoon Tea in London

Warner bros studio tour.

You can also enjoy a Harry Potter Studios afternoon tea at the Warner Bros Studios in Watford.

While this is technically not directly in London, the Harry Potter studios are easy to reach from London , and as one of the best Harry Potter locations in all of the United Kingdom , they should be on your itinerary anyway.

Even though I’ve been to the Harry Potter Studio tour London already three times, I’ve not had the chance to try the afternoon tea in the Great Hall yet.

No matter if you go to the afternoon tea there or not, you should add the Warner Bros Studio tour to the Harry Potter places to visit in London .

Note that you need to book your Harry Potter studio tour tickets weeks in advance as the tour tickets sell out fast.

Location: Studio Tour Dr , Leavesden, Watford WD25 7LR

Price: £79,90 for 2 people (you need a Studio Tour ticket as well)

Final Thoughts: Wizard Afternoon Tea London

Whether you’re a die-hard Harry Potter fan or simply looking for a unique and magical experience in London going for a Harry Potter themed afternoon tea is a great option.

Picking the right afternoon tea venue can get a bit more tricky. In the end, it comes down to what’s more important to you food or magical experience.

In my opinion, the Wands and Wizards Exploratorium was the most magical experience but the food was the least exciting (at least the vegan option I had).

I enjoyed the food at the Georgian House Hotel and at Cutter and Squidge more but the Harry Potter theme wasn’t as pronounced.

Don’t forget to book your tickets online beforehand to ensure there’s still availability and that they can cater to your dietary requirements.

Harry Potter Afternoon Tea

Fantastic experience from start to finish from Steve and the rest of the team in the afternoon tea area of the restaurant who couldn't do enough for us. They are an absolute credit to the Studios. Food was probably 4/5 which is actually quite good as these places can tend to phone it home a bit on their offerings. The scones, sandwiches and cakes were all lovely. The small pastry selection was a bit strange, could probably do with a rethink. We struggled to finish everything (1 adult 1 child) but they kindly provided a take away box for us. Overall a really nice experience, much recommended!

Absolutely amazing day out! Highly recommend! Visited for my HP fan daughters birthday and despite not really knowing much about HP I became excited and emerged in the world of HP and enjoyed the day thoroughly! Plan for a good day out, we spend 5 hours there and could have stayed longer! It’s definitely value for money and longer than you would expect! Excellent facilities and support for accessibility and additional needs! Provided use of a free sensory bag for the duration of the visit which included ear defenders and sensory items/ fidgets. Queue skip system for those who require; provided with hidden disability lanyard so staff are aware. A sensory room is also available for use! Clean and great facilities. Tasty food and even tasty vegan options available! Staff were fabulous.. nothing was too much trouble and so helpful and friendly.

Ok so I have reviewed this place before but we decided to go again october last year for the “dark arts” event, and it did not disappoint as always they adding new features to the tour and the dark arts had live action characters walking through with dimmed lights and slythein logos on the ground, is a must to go over October time, hopefully they will do it again 👍

The Good: young kids will likely enjoy it. The sets are well done as are some of the models and artwork displays. Most of the staff are friendly. Gift shop is comprehensive. The Bad: hearded like sardines thru the first three stages of the studio - firstly into a square room with videos from staff around the top and the Weasley twins. Then into a theatre for another video from cast of the movies, then into the dining hall from the movies with some canned cheering as each house is mentioned. Thankfully, after this you are free to explore at your own pace. It is packed to the max with tour buses and school groups who seemed to receive priority in the many queues. The character models shown in the displays do not have faces which was strange and disconcerting to younger family members. The Ugly: unhelpful staff member (middle-aged skinny lady with a blonde bob) prior to first video room - put a dampener on the day.

Look, I like Harry Potter but I'm no superfan. And in the past we've had mixed experiences here. However, hats off (no pun intended) to the Studios because every year they improve the experience and they've even won over a grumpy old soul like me. Not least for their service. You need to take your time to get round as there's a lot to see. A lot. And you need to book well in advance. There's a lot of free parking on-site (and they run buses from London and Watford) and they've even accessorised and themed the car parks, which I really liked. Small touches and all that. The butter beer is a bit of a rip-off but you have to have it really, don't you? And the butter beer ice cream cones are gigantic, so one between two, folks. The staff are unfailingly pleasant and enthusiastic, but a really big 'thank you' to the guest services team at the cloakrooms for stepping in to find a wheelchair for my daughter when she needed it. And for then making her visit extra special by treating her as a 'person' and giving her a little origami keepsake when she left. It's small touches like that which speak volumes and which stick in the memory.

London’s Magical Afternoon Tea Is Perfect For Harry Potter Fans • The Potion Room

A wizard-themed afternoon tea is making waves in Soho, and Harry Potter fans can Expecto be impressed.

Cutter & Squidge first made a splash with their Aladdin-themed tea, but since May 2018 they’ve been embracing the Dark Arts with their very own Potion Room experience in the heart of London – and you can grab your tickets here .

Soho’s favourite all-natural bakery has transformed their underground space into the The Cutter & Squidge School of Alchemy, promising to butter the crumpets of any recovering Potterhead.

Cast spells and concoct edible potions before tucking into a magical selection of sweet and savoury, including Yorkshire puddings filled with roast beef and horseradish, classic finger sandwiches, knickerbocker bites, and spectacular drinks served in personal-sized cauldrons. Oh and a little birdie—who looked suspiciously like Hedwig—told us that you should make sure you save a bit of stomach space for a special surprise ending!

We attended today to experience afternoon tea and we were not disappointed. The presentation and food was superb and definitely good value for money. Steve, the member of staff looking after us was absolutely superb and his attentiveness to us and all of the other people having afternoon tea was exceptional. We'll done to the team!

I’ve wanted to do the tour for a long time and decided to take my 5 year old son with me. We were so excited and he is very hyperactive so I thought it may be too much for him and not hold his interest but how wrong I was! We were both completely awe stricken and loved everything about the experience! The staff were so lovely and couldn’t have been more pleasant and helpful! Some examples: a lady checked that we had picked up the free passports and when we said we hadn’t, she went and got them for us and helped my son find two of the pixies that he had to find. A man was taking to us and reminded us that if we needed anything or had any questions, he and his colleagues were around to help. The girl on the till at the shop told me that I’d picked up dark chocolate frogs and asked if I meant to or if I would like her to swap them for milk chocolate! All of these little touches were what took the service to the next level - above and beyond! All the staff we encountered were so happy and kind and asked how our day was going so far. The tour itself was just, WOW! It’s incredible to get a glimpse into the world behind the HP world and I’m in awe of all the people that brought it to life on the screen - more so now that I have learned so much about behind the scenes and production. The free shuttle bus service was excellent too, and so convenient! I had a gorgeous letter charm engraved as a souvenir and the charm and engraving combined was only £10. The butterbeer bar was fun and we loved that you can keep the tankards as a souvenir! The food was good too - a little pricey but these places always are for food. We loved the broom flying experience though £14 for the photo alone did seem a bit expensive. There are so many photo opportunities and many memories to make that will last a lifetime. All in all, a very magical experience!

Awesome experience for the Harry Potter and non Harry Potter fan. Excellent exhibits, great displays and very informative. All very professional and well presented. Plenty of free parking. Food at the Back Lot cafe good, plenty of seating. We booked the first slot in the morning which looking at the reception and car park as we left was a good idea. Well worth it as a family day out. We spent 4.5 hours. Thoroughly recommended.

Had a great day .expensive but worth it till we tried to get food .order was forgotten then when it finally arrived was told after we finished to get a full refund.when I went up was left standing for 15 mins still nobody turned up to do refund so gave in and left . What a fantastic experience. We jumped off the train at Watford Junction straight onto our double decker shuttle bus to the studios. Streamlined entrance and in we go. Amazing actual sets, costumes, models, masks, and special effects all on display. At the halfway point you can purchase a butter beer. My whole family agrees this could be skipped. Not very nice. Off we go to the back lot displays and finally finish off on the merchandise store. Merchandise was average at best but the true fans didn’t seem to care, spending up big on rubbish. Kids and some adults who haven’t grown up yet, seem to forget there manners where they are so excited. Everyone needs to be respectful and be patient, we are all here to see the same thing you’re not going to miss out. Anyway the big day didn’t end well.. Here is my rant. It seems Warner bros don’t seem to care about you once you walk out the exit. The night we went, it was 5 degrees when we exited and we, along with many more waited in a long line praying for the shuttle buses to come quickly. 30mins we waited with the line now double the length from when we started. Many were ordering in Ubers etc as the wait was painful. Surely Warner bros could build a heated shelter etc for the fans, after all they built all those fantastic elaborate sets, not hard to but up 4 walls and roof with heating or put on more shuttle services. Just saying…..

I gave up on going as when I attempted to buy the tickets online 2 months in advance, the only time slot available was 4pm. I tried again 2 weeks later, and all the time slots were available. I didn't know why, but I quickly bought 2 tickets . So if you do not see a suitable time, just wait and try again. Getting to the studio was easy. We took the train from Euston train station to Watford Junction. Oyster cards can be used. Once arrive at Watford Junction, follow the HP sign to go to the shuttle bus, which runs every 30 mins. The bus ride was 15 mins Excitement began as we got onto the double-decker bus. The path that is lined by the powerful magical wands led us into the entrance. We bought the audio guide for £5.25 each, and it provided a lot of information. It was easy to use. If batteries were run out, just ask any staff , and they would replace it right away. You are allowed to bring outside food. We brought our own lunch and ate at the Backlot area. There was so much to see. We spent about 5 hours leisurely not rushed, so do try to book an early time slot if it is available. We took the shuttle back to Watford Junction and got back to Euston.

All afternoon teas are magical, but if you're a Harry Potter-loving cake aficionado there are more options for themed experiences than ever before. Themed afternoon teas are a growing market for tea rooms up and down the country and with J K Rowling's books and films proving beloved of all ages they're a popular inspiration - especially with the new Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film, The Secrets of Dumbledore, reigniting everyone's appetites for everything Hogwarts. And what better way to celebrate than with lots of teeny tiny cakes?

Here's our round up of some of the best options for Harry Potter themed afternoon teas booking now in and around the London area. Spoiler: none of them have an option to get a cake with 'happee birthdae' iced wonkily on top alongside the rest of your meal if you're celebrating which, frankly, we consider somewhat of an oversight.

The Potion Room afternoon tea, Cutter and Squidge

One of the UK's first tearooms to embrace the Potter phenomenon, Cutter and Squidge are already renowned for their unusual bakes including their signature Biskie - the love child of a cake and a cookie made into a filled dessert sandwich.

Their Potter offering (although, as with all of these, it is described as a more generically witch and wizardly-inspired experience for copyright reasons) has a particularly strong savoury option so if you're someone who finds too much sweet food a bit overpowering this is the one for you. As well as three types of sandwiches there's a creamy leek and potato pie and a Yorkshire pudding with roast beef and horseradish. This is followed up with rock cakes in place of scones, a butterscotch Biskie and a twist on a traditional Knickerbocker Glory, along with additional surprises along the way.

You do need to beware though if you're the kind of student who would rather skulk at the back of a Hogwarts class. The Potion Room is quite interactive and gives you the chance to make your own drinkable potions to go alongside your meal. You'll be given a cloak when you go in and be seated at traditional classroom style desks where a Potions teacher will take you through mixing your concoctions to make sure you don't unwittingly unleash any boggarts. I quite enjoyed it when we did this, but my husband found it a bit awkward - although he did perk up when we got to the food.

Prices: Prices start from £49.50 for adults and £39.50 for kids. There's also a VIP option which gives you a goodie bag to take home afterwards.

Arcane Afternoon Tea, Wands and Wizard Exploratorium

You also have to work to unlock your lunch at the Wands and Wizard Exploratorium too, although the hands-on element of things is shorter. Once you've made two kinds of tea - wands are provided, although you can bring your own - you can settle down and enjoy the fruits of your labour.

As well as traditional sand-witches and scones there is a wide selection of tempting treats with some unusual items. The menu constantly changes through the year (the perfect excuse for a return visit) but you can expect various intriguing flavours of brownies, blondies and cupcakes on your tea stand alongside other confectionery and treats.

Where: 26 Greek Street, London W1D 5DE. The Exploratorium has a sister branch in Edinburgh if you've missed the train to Kings Cross.

Prices: £35 for adults, £19 for children for the standard afternoon tea. There is also a wand making session which can be added add to the magic for would-be wizards and witches at an additional cost. Vouchers are available via Red Letter Days .

Food Hall Afternoon Tea, Warner Bros. Studio Tour

Sadly you can't actually dine in the Great Hall but once you've worked up an appetite walking Diagon Alley, toured the different iconic classroom sets and marvelled at the size of the miniature (ha!) model of Hogwarts used in the movie you can enjoy afternoon tea in the Studio's food hall.

Their afternoon tea spread adds a brie and leek tart and mini Scotch eggs to traditional sandwiches on the savoury side. Meanwhile, Harry's favourite treacle tart, a trifle pot and a cupcake celebrating Professor Dumbledore's favourite sweet, the Sherbet Lemon, join scones on the tea stand. You can even have Butterbear with it, although we wouldn't recommend it - it's pretty sickly stuff it turns out.

There are more exciting afternoon tea options on the food front but, in terms of surroundings, if you love all things Potter there is no better place to be.

How much: Afternoon tea is £25 for two, but needs to be bought alongside tickets for the tour itself which are £47 for adults or £38 for children. NB: The afternoon tea was taken off the menu during covid but is coming back soon so check when you book to avoid disappointment.

Afternoon of Wizardry High Tea

If JK Rowling has taught us anything it's that magic hides behind every corner. But even she might be surprised to find it on the top deck of a bus parked in the car park of a garden centre in a leafy village in Essex (there's a marquee available for anyone unwilling or unable to take the stairs).

Wildflower Teas are renowned for hosting a series of different themed afternoon teas - they're currently also running them inspired by everything from Friends to the Vampire Diaries, Frozen to Elf - but their Harry Potter option is particularly magical.

On arrival you're greeted with a glass of polyjuice potion and a large bowl of every flavoured beans (thankfully they seem to have taken out the more unpalatable ones) before you're given a themed stand packed with goodies and topped with a Gryffindor scarf. As well as sandwiches, rolls and a cheese pastry there are a range of cupcakes, cookies, rock cakes and tarts. The portions are big enough to thrill even Hagrid - when we visited we ended up taking an entire golden snitch decorated loaf cake home in a takeaway box because we couldn't finish it all.

How much: £30 per person but keep an eye on their Facebook page for deals (we got a buy one get one free)

Wizard Afternoon Tea

Another option offering loads for savoury lovers, The Georgian House Hotel also gets bonus points for its pun-tastic menu (highlight: eggspelliarmos and wild cress). As as well as the eggs you can enjoy smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich options, a slow cooked beef brisket and caramelised red onion and brie tart. There's a choice of scones - although we're pretty hopeful the 'eye of newt' ones are just raisins - and a range of desserts.

The Georgian House Hotel was built in 1851 and is a short walk from Pimlico. It's a great place to visit in its own right, but the team have gone all in with the theme - there's even bedrooms fit for wizards if you decide you want to stay overnight. If you want more traditional afternoon tea surroundings this might be your best option - ideal if you're going out in a mixed group of Potter fans and muggles.
