The annual Halal Expo International Trade Exhibition, held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye, is organized by Discover Events in cooperation with the Standards and Metrology for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), and in coordination with other relevant Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) institutions.

In 2023, the Halal Expo Exhibition brought together 314 companies from 45 different countries, including 220 from abroad. With a total of 23,351 visitors, including 7,375 international guests from 82 countries, the event also hosted various high-profile international officials.

As the world’s largest “halal organization,” the goal for 2024 is to attract over 500 procurement professionals from across the globe. Anticipating around 40,000 visitors, including 10,000 from abroad, the event aims to facilitate increased participation of companies in the halal sector through B2B agreements. The exhibition also looks forward to diverse participation from more than 25 countries, uniting representatives from various industries.

By positioning Turkiye as a central hub in the nearly $7 trillion halal market, Halal Expo and its simultaneous events strive to align with strategic objectives. With a consumer base exceeding 2 billion globally, the focus is on attracting the halal sector to Turkiye, especially in areas such as food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, textiles, tourism, and finance.

Scheduled for the last quarter of 2024, Halal Expo will take place at the Istanbul Expo Center from November 27 to 30.

IMPORTANT DATES

international halal tourism conference

This wonderful WHS summit gave me an extraordinary experience, network, enlightenment, and more than that it became a meaningful event in my life. I feel blessed to have an opportunity to connect, share and discuss ideas to all speakers that are experts in halal issues and come from all over the world with different nations and backgrounds. I would appreciate the organizer for the excellent service and kindness during the events. Hopefully, I can participate again in this excellent WHS forum next year.

Dr. Aydoğan Soygüden

World Halal Summit 2022 was very well organized and all the speaker have the interesting subject well delivered. Every different point of the halal researched and gave opinion to participants. I give my best regards and thanks to all committee member and the participants.

Prof. Dr. Aldin Dugonjic

“Sustainability has become one of the most important topics worldwide. Many governments making strategies, studies and laws to have sustainable environment, economics etc. as we know that sustainability is connected with every aspect of human being. It was my great pleasure to speak on this important topic on 8th WHS and share research results about how  developing halal tourism actually is supporting sustainable development. I believe that WHS will have very positive impact on decision makers and stakeholders on halal market”.

Dr. Mufti Sayed Arif Shah Al Husaini

The World Halal Summit has evolved into such a galaxy where the stars from the different halal sectors gather and glitter every year and enlighten the different aspects of halal.

Keeping the hand on the pulse of the time, gave this memorable WHS 2022 event a much-needed title  “For a Sustainable Trade: Explore All the Aspects of the Growing Global Halal Industry“   and invited the top experts from all over the world to present share their viewpoint.

Likewise, the 2022 WHS was a treat to attend and watch.  Our respected Brother Mr. Yunus Ete Discover Event ,  along with the  OIC/SMIIC under the leadership of H.E. Mr.  Ihsan Ouvt,  has played a splendid role in organizing this event. From the leadership to the coordination everything was awesome. In simple in brief, Turkish hospitality was found at its peak.

Once again thanks the WHS organizing committee,  Discover Events,  along with  OIC/SMIIC  and all the partners and Special thanks to Ms. Radhia Ouldchikh

Best wishes for successful events in future.

Looking forward to seeing you in WHS 2023 Insha-Allah.

Dr. Usman Mir Khan

JazakALLAH for giving me opportunity to present my work in World Halal Summit, 2022. I have field expertise in dairy industry especially cheese. In my view, there is a dire need to explore the halal aspects of the dairy products to grow halal industry globally with trade of the halal sources for production of dairy products.

The summit focused on the halal industry in all aspects even the need to understand the logical and effective ways to improve the economic situation and impacts of halal on the country profile. The halal industry has now expanded beyond the food sector to include pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, health products. Thus, World Halal Summit focused the all aspects of the daily lifestyle in well mannered way.

In the last decade, the halal industry has undergone further evolution as a market force when governments have started to look at halal in terms of policy formation for developing their own economies.

There is need to focus all aspects of the daily lifestyle according to Islam so that we may contribute to those countries which have Muslims in minorities.

omer faruk tekdogan

Halal Tourism: Capturing the Development and Potential of Halal Tourism in Japan

Mellania Yustica * and Arsi Widiandari

Diponegoro University, Japanese Language and Culture Program, Semarang, Indonesia

* Corresponding author: [email protected]

The tourism industry is a sector that is currently being looked at by countries in the world because it is one way to improve the economy of a country. With the popularity of the halal tourism industry globally, the term halal tourism has emerged in several countries including Japan. Of course, in preparing to welcome Muslim tourists, Japan focuses on the comfort and availability of facilities needed by them. This study aims to see the development and potential of Japan in the scope of the halal tourism industry. The research data were taken from books, journals, and websites that were relevant to the research theme. After analyzing it, it can be concluded that Japan has added many facilities for Muslim tourists, starting with the provision of halal food, places of worship, as well as Muslim-friendly accommodations or hotels. This is the reason that halal tourism definitely has good economic prospects as part of the tourism industry in Japan.

EUROPE TO HOST FIRST-EVER INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HALAL TOURISM

Recently I have been getting a significant amount of press releases to my inbox, mostly they are related to some award or the other, or some new product or service that is launched by a hotel or that relates to F&B. I usually rummage through them and set them aside, the reason being is that Al Rahalah is not a magazine, and was not intended as one. However, one of these press releases did grab my attention enough to have me post it right here. It falls right within the core of this site: Halal Tourism, and I thought I would share.

It’s about time Halal Tourism got the focus it deserves.
