Event starts {{ data.showing_start_time }}, new edition: the legacy tour with keith sweat, guy and special guest tank.

Iconic Grammy®-nominated, multi-platinum-selling R&B supergroup New Edition closed out 2022 with the highly successful “The Culture Tour,” nominated as one of the Top R&B Tours in the country by Pollstar. Selling out arenas across the country, the icons and The Black Promoters Collective (BPC) are happy to announce the 30-city “Legacy Tour” with a must-see lineup that includes a New Jack Swing reunion with Keith Sweat and the original members of Guy (Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall, and Damion Hall) and Tank will visit Little Caesars Arena on Saturday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m.

“Few recording artists can attest to a superior 40-year career that stands the test of time, but New Edition can. When we partnered with NE for “The Culture Tour,” although I knew it would be stellar, their show exceeded my expectations; the guys were nothing short of miraculous. We are excited about partnering with New Edition to further the legacy of the foundation they have already laid,” states BPC CEO Gary Guidry.

New Edition hit the scene in 1983 with their iconic #1 debut album Candy Girl disrupting the music industry 40 years ago. That same year, the album’s title cut knocked Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” out of the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart. The group has gone on to win many awards, including BET’s “Lifetime Achievement” awards, and has one of the most highly watched biopics in music history, the 3-part BET series: The New Edition Story, which attracted more than 29 million viewers. Comprised of Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ralph Tresvant, and Johnny Gill, New Edition has remained one of the most influential R&B groups in the world for close to four decades. With a vast catalog, New Edition is ready to perform a host of new hits that weren’t performed in 2022’s “The Culture Tour,” giving their fans a whole new experience to tuck in their memory book.

Keith Sweat entered the charts with his 3X platinum debut solo album, Make It Last Forever, in 1987, giving the world its first New Jack Swing Billboard Hot 100 hit, “I Want Her.” The song, produced by Teddy Riley and Sweat, became the most successful R&B song in 1988 on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart. In 1997, Sweat formed the group LSG (Levert, Sweat, and Gill – Johnny Gill of New Edition), whose debut album, Levert.Sweat.Gill sold double platinum and produced the hit song “My Body,” which became a platinum single, spending seven weeks at #1 on the charts. In addition to touring and making new music, Sweat currently has the #1 nationally syndicated R&B evening radio show called The Sweat Hotel with Keith Sweat, reaching more than 50 markets across the country.

Teddy Riley ushered in a new musical genre called New Jack Swing, which included the formation of his group Guy with Aaron Hall and Damion Hall in 1987. The group’s first album, the self-titled masterpiece, quickly spawned the Billboard Hot 100 hit “I Like,” which, along with four other hit singles such as “Groove Me” and “Teddy’s Jam,” helped to propel the debut album to double platinum status. The group disbanded after their second album, The Future, citing the stresses of the tragic loss of their former manager. However, Teddy Riley went on to produce for the likes of Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga. In addition, he was instrumental in the rise of Bobby Brown’s solo career, creating the megahit “My Prerogative,” which Complex magazine says is the #1 New Jack Swing song of all time. The “Legacy Tour” will be the first time the group has come together to tour in more than 15 years.

New Edition Invites Keith Sweat, Guy & Tank On The 'Legacy Tour'

Butta

New Edition is back outside in 2023! After going on The Culture Tour earlier this year with Charlie Wilson and Jodeci , NE is hitting the road once again in the new year. This time around, they're taking off on the Legacy Tour and bringing fellow '80s and '90s R&B veterans Keith Sweat and Guy and special guest Tank along for the musical joyride.

The legendary group is teaming back up with the Black Promoters Collective , the producers of The Culture Tour, to present their Legacy Tour. All six members of New Edition – Ronnie DeVoe , Bobby Brown , Ricky Bell , Michael Bivins , Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill – are going to take over stages across the United States beginning in March with their classic sing-along songs and slick choreography.

The Legacy Tour kicks off on Thursday, March 9, 2023 in Columbia, South Carolina before traveling to a total of 31 cities as winter ends and spring begins. Tour stops include Memphis, D.C., Hampton, Newark, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Oakland, Cleveland, Nashville, Baltimore and Miami. New Edition and friends will wrap things up on Sunday, April 30, 2023 in Tampa.

Make plans to attend the Legacy Tour now and prepare to have a time. New Edition is guaranteed to put on a consistently stellar show night after night, and that's on N.E. Heartbreak . Keith Sweat will be quite entertaining (especially if he has some Ciroc in him). Guy members Teddy Riley , Aaron Hall and Damion Hall will show and prove that they've still got the juice and the jams. And though he's allegedly and supposedly retired from R&B, we've got our money (see what we did there?) on Tank giving fans the best that he's got as the opening, opening, opening act.

Legacy Tour tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, December 16th at 10 a.m. local time and may be purchased via the Black Promoters Collective website . American Express cardholders can access and purchase presale tickets now through Thursday, December 15th at 11:59 p.m. local time. New Edition announces 2024 Las Vegas residency, teases new music: 'It makes sense'

LOS ANGELES — R&B group New Edition will bring their New Jack Swing tunes to Las Vegas early next year.

The Grammy-nominated sextet announced Monday that New Edition: Las Vegas will kick off Feb. 28. The group confirmed six residency shows at the Wynn Las Vegas' Encore Theater, where acts like Diana Ross , Duran Duran , Lionel Richie and Brad Paisley have taken the stage.

"We just caught lightning in a bottle," said Ronnie DeVoe, a founding New Edition member— which includes Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant and Ricky Bell. Monday's announcement came days after the group performed a tightly choreographed tribute to the Spinners at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in New York City.

DeVoe said the band heard fans countless requests — particularly through social media — for them to perform in Sin City. "We're looking to touch that stage and continue on with the legacy," he said.

After two consecutive North American tours, New Edition has planned for a more intimate setting at Encore, which seats 1,480.

"This is going to more theatrical than our Legacy and Culture tours," Brown said. "This will be a lot more intimate. We wanted it to be up, close and personal for our fans."

New Edition was founded as childhood friends in a Boston housing projects and became one of the originators of the modern-day boy band. The group released their debut album "Candy Girl" in 1983 and rejuvenated the teen music scene in the mold of The Jackson Five with hit singles like "Candy Girl," "Mr. Telephone Man" and "Cool It Now."

The group maintained success after puberty and laid the foundation for groups such as New Kids on the Block, the Backstreet Boys and Boyz II Men.

But then, New Edition faced plenty of conflict – which included Brown's erratic behavior during a concert tour that resulted in him being kicked out the group. Tensions grew after Brown was replaced by Gill.

Brown found success as a solo artist with the 1988 hit "Don’t Be Cruel." Gill and Tresvant had their own solo careers, while Bell, Bivins and DeVoe created their own group, Bell Biv Devoe, and soared with their 1990 debut album, "Poison," which went quadruple platinum.

But eventually, all six members reconciled and reunited for their sixth studio album "Home Again" in 1996. The group has toured the past couple of years.

Bell said the tours helped build cohesiveness and created more of an opportunity to appreciate each other. He's grateful for the group's longevity, saying "We have each other, we have our health, we have our families. Everybody's still here."

Bivins said the same authentic brotherhood shown during New Edition’s recent tours will be on display in Las Vegas.

"Our audience got a chance to see growth, bond, brotherhood," he said. "Sometimes that's bigger than any record because people come to look for separation. But I think we’ll give them the glue."

Wayne Newton extends Las Vegas residency at the Flamingo into 2024

New Edition teases new music

New Edition hasn't released an album since 2004, but DeVoe said there's a good chance the group will release new music leading up to their residency stint.

"It makes sense," he said. "I think it'll be a great time to get in the studio and put our vocals on something new and fresh, so we can deliver that to our fans in anticipation of their residency."

How to get New Edition residency tickets

The group's Las Vegas residency goes from Feb. 28 through March 9, 2024. Tickets for the performances went on sale starting Friday Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. PT via Ticketmaster , but quickly sold out within a span of hours. Resale tickets are still available at higher prices.

New Edition performs together onstage.

New Edition is getting back into the New Jack Swing of things.

Following a massive 2022 tour, the famed R&B group decided to do it all over again next year and will take their “Legacy Tour” to arenas all over North America from March 9 through April 30.

And no, you don’t have to worry the whole group— Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, Ralph and Johnny— will be there.

To sweeten the deal, they’re bringing along fellow icons Keith Sweat, the recently reunited Guy and Tank along for the ride as well.

On the 30-concert trek, New Edition and their impressive roster of opening acts will drop into the NY/NJ area three times— first up, they’ll hit Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on March 18, then Newark’s Prudential Center on March 19 and finally, Elmont’s UBS Arena on April 20.

So, if you count yourself among the many #NE4Lifers and can’t wait to hear “Candy Girl,” live, here’s everything you need to know about the 2023 “Legacy Tour.”

New Edition 2023 tour schedule

A complete calendar featuring all upcoming tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets can be found below.

New Edition opening acts

The lineup for the “Legacy Tour” is truly stacked. In the off chance you’re not acquainted with the tour’s special guests, we’ve got a quick refresher ready to go for you.

Keith Sweat has five Top 10 Billboard hits and 14 huge albums under his belt, making him a bona fide headliner in his own right. In fact, he’s got a few arena gigs of his own lined up for next year. If you’re looking to fall in love with his music all over again, give “Twisted,” one of the all-time great slow jams, a spin.

Guy , currently made up of Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall and Damion Hall, broke up in 1991 and has reunited multiple times since the initial split. Most recently, the New Jack Swing pioneers played a handful of gigs in 2018-19 where they busted out their classic hits “Let’s Chill” and “Groove Me.”

Tank is a bit newer to the scene, getting his start in 2001. Over the past two decades, he’s steadily released music— including smash singles “Maybe I Deserve,” “Please Don’t Go” and “When We”— and developed a nice acting career as well. You very may well recognize him from his work in “The Real Husbands of Hollywood,” “Grown Folks” and, of course, “The New Edition Story.”

Huge R&B tours in 2023

Our musical forecast for next year: Expect lots of slow dances and party-starting anthems.

That’s because many of the biggest names in R&B have lined up tours in the coming months.

Rather than overwhelm you, here are just five of our favorite can’t miss acts you have to catch when they come to a city near you this winter, spring and summer.

•  The Temptations and Four Tops

In June, New Edition gained three new certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Their single “Can You Stand the Rain,” from their 1988 album  Heart Break , was certified 2x platinum for selling over two million equivalent units. It’s their most certified song to date.

The song peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and spent two weeks atop the list.

Additionally, they collected a platinum award for “If It Isn’t Love,” which also appears on Heart Break.  The Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis-produced track peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

They also scored a gold award for “Mr. Telephone Man,” lifted from their self-titled sophomore album . The single has sold over 500,000 equivalent units to date.

Earlier this year, New Edition celebrated the 40th anniversary of their debut album,  Candy Girl.  Released in March 1983, the album was produced by Maurice Starr and Arthur Baker. It included the singles “Candy Girl,” “Is This the End” and “Popcorn Love.”

The album’s lead single and title track reached No. 46 on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Is This the End” peaked at No. 85.

They also celebrated the 35th anniversary of  Heart Break , released in June 1988. It peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 and No. 3 on the Top R&B Albums charts.

In 2024, New Edition’s self-titled second album will turn 40, while their seventh album,  One Love , will celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Megadeth Announces Destroy All Enemies U.S. Tour

Facebook icon

Featuring Mudvayne and All That Remains

Tickets for the 33-city nationwide tour on-sale this friday, april 26.

Megadeth is bringing its iconic live show to North America with a 33-city, nationwide tour, Destroy All Enemies, produced by Live Nation, this fall including stops in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston, St. Louis and many more. Tickets for all dates will be on sale Friday at 10am local time with an exclusive presale for the Cyber Army/Megadeth Digital beginning today, Tuesday, April 23 at 12pm local time Megadeth.com .

Bringing along Mudvayne and All That Remains, the tour begins in Rogers, Arkansas on August 2 and runs throughout the month before wrapping in Nashville, Tennessee on September 28. Performing classic hits from Rust In Peace, Countdown to Extinction and more, the tour also brings Dave Mustaine and bandmates back to North America to perform their latest studio album The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead! Featuring some of Mustaine’s strongest-ever songwriting, the tour offers an equally ambitious live performance that delivers on all fronts.

“Our ‘Crush The World’ tour has been a tremendous experience for the four of us,” shared Dave Mustaine. “We are all playing tight, and that has made it possible for me to really focus on solos and singing, we are playing more songs than ever before, and we are closer to each other, onstage AND off. I’m excited to see Mudvayne, and All That Remains. Join us as we DESTROY ALL ENEMIES.”

The North American jaunt comes on the heels of a highly anticipated and successful stint in Latin America wrapping this month and starting back up in Europe this summer. Decades after his death, the legend and legacy of ‘Mr. Las Vegas’ and his southern Utah mobster hideaway live on

From the desert inn to the d.i. ranch, moe dalitz lived large, long and prospered. it is said the bootlegger-turned-business-tycoon beat every rap — save for his checkered past..

(The Mob Museum) Moe Dalitz with a mountain lion he killed while hunting at the D.I. Ranch.

St. George • Southern Utah’s D.I. Ranch, tucked away in a rugged desert valley 25 miles west of St. George, hardly seems like an alluring hangout for a mobster whom Sin City denizens once dubbed “Mr. Las Vegas.”

But Morris Barney Dalitz — called “Moe” by those who knew him best — was no ordinary criminal. By all appearances, he was a gentleman with old-school manners who was popular, polite and eschewed violence.

Ditto for the remote D.I. Ranch, which The Salt Lake Tribune profiled earlier this month . When Dalitz bought it in 1954, it looked nothing like its namesake: the famed Desert Inn luxury resort the gangster owned on the Las Vegas Strip.

Appearances, as the maxim suggests, are often deceiving — as author Michael Newton related in his book “ Mr Mob: The Life and Crimes of Moe Dalitz .”

“America’s most secretive and most successful gangster never spent a night in jail, or even went to trial, despite a life of crime that spanned three-quarters of a century.” He was, Newton and others state, someone who preferred brain over brawn and knew how to keep his hands clean but was not above enlisting mob muscle to do the dirty work.

As for his 831-acre desert haven in southwestern Utah’s backcountry, the D.I. Ranch reputedly became a hideaway for mobsters on the lam and a discreet retreat for prostitutes, showgirls, gamblers and celebrities, like Elizabeth Taylor, on occasion.

(Mark Eddington | The Salt Lake Tribune) This building exists on the site of the D.I. Ranch, 25 miles west of St. George, where reputed Las Vegas mobster Moe Dalitz once lived.

The D.I., cowboy old-timers have attested, was a place patrolled by Uzi-toting guards in pickups and where dead bodies and vehicles were deep-sixed beneath mounds of earth or creek beds.

So who was Moe Dalitz? The answer, it seems, depends on who is asked?

There’s little dispute about his mobster beginnings. Born in Boston, Dalitz later moved to Michigan with his family and went into the laundry business. During Prohibition, he supplemented his laundry income as a bootlegger, ferrying illegal Canadian booze across Lake Erie to the U.S. Soon, Dalitz was linked to the criminal Purple Gang, the Mayfield Road Mob and what some federal officials dubbed “the Cleveland Syndicate.”

He also ran a string of illegal casinos in Ohio, Kentucky and Florida along with a legal one in Havana, which he fortuitously sold before Fidel Castro seized power. As one Cleveland law enforcement officer told members of a congressional committee on organized crime at the time, “ruthless beatings, unsolved murders and shakedowns, threats and bribery came to this community as a result of gangsters’ rise to power. Dalitz was considered part of that rise,” according to a 1999 Las Vegas-Review Journal article.

Too legit to quit

(Las Vegas News Agency via Wikimedia Commons) The Desert Inn hotel and casino in Las Vegas, pictured June 12, 1969. Moe Dalitz owned this longtime resort.

When Congress turned up the heat on organized crime after World War II, Dalitz made a momentous decision. Rather than quit, he would go legit by diversifying his businesses into mostly legal enterprises, shunning the spotlight and steering clear — at least publicly — of notorious ventures.

In 1949, Dalitz and partners Sam Tucker, Morris Kleinman and Louie Rothkopf — known collectively as the “Cleveland Four” — surfaced in Las Vegas, where they took over construction of the Desert Inn that developer Wilbur Clark had started but was too cash-strapped to finish.

Clark stayed on as the affable frontman for the hotel and casino, while Dalitz and his partners were the power behind the throne. Soon, people from across the country flocked to the Desert Inn to carouse, play craps or slots, lounge poolside with cocktails in hand or cluster behind giant windows in the resort’s swanky Sky Room to watch atomic bomb blasts from the nearby Nevada Test Site .

Dalitz pumped $2.7 million into entertainment during the Desert Inn’s first three years to lure top-flight entertainers like Frank Sinatra, who made his Vegas debut at the resort in 1951.

“For six bucks, you got a filet mignon dinner,” Sinatra said, “and me.”

[Read more about southern Utah’s D.I. Ranch , including fringe religious beliefs that it was once home to Adam and Eve and Book of Mormon bandits.]

Buoyed by the resort’s buoyant bottom line, Newton and other historians say, Dalitz parlayed his profits — along with cash infusions from International Brotherhood of Teamsters pension fund loans — into mostly legitimate investments that transformed the Vegas landscape and burnished his tarnished reputation.

(AP Photo, File) Frank Sinatra, in this 1990 photo, made his Las Vegas debut in 1951 at the Desert Inn.

For example, Dalitz invested in the Stardust and Flamingo casinos. He helped build the Las Vegas Country Club , created the PGA Tournament of Champions tour event in Las Vegas and tapped his financial backing and Teamster contacts to help construct Sunrise Hospital , Boulevard Mall , the Las Vegas Convention Center and the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.

He also donated generously to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a variety of charities.

“People started seeing Moe as a civic and business leader in Las Vegas rather than a mobster,” said historian Geoff Schumacher, vice president of exhibits and programs for The Mob Museum in Las Vegas. “It got to the point in the 1970s and ‘80s where he was being honored by different organizations as the ‘man of the year’ for his philanthropy and involvement in different causes.”

(John Rooney | AP) Muhammad Ali stands over fallen challenger Sonny Liston in their 1965 bout. Dalitz and Liston once went the rounds, so to speak, during an encounter in Hollywood.

Notwithstanding Dalitz’s suave and civilized veneer, he was not above showing some syndicate steel. Dining in Hollywood, Dalitz was once accosted by heavyweight boxing champion Sonny Liston who told him, “You ain’t such a tough guy away from Las Vegas” and raised his hand as if to strike him.

“If you hit me … you’d better kill me,” Newton quotes Dalitz as replying. “Because if you don’t, I’ll make a phone call and you’ll be dead in 24 hours.

“...Liston couldn’t have been more stunned if he’d been hit over the head with a crowbar,” Newton wrote in “Mr. Mob.” “... Forget Cassius Clay’s ‘phantom punch.’ Moe Dalitz knocked out Sonny Liston with no punch at all.”

(Mark Eddington) Michael Newton's biography of Moe Dalitz, titled “Mr Mob: The Life and Crimes of Moe Dalitz.”

Clay, who later changed his name to Muhammad Ali, ostensibly knocked out Liston with the invisible “phantom punch” in their 1965 title tilt, causing some to speculate the fight was rigged.

Despite such incidents, as well as periodic unwelcome bouts of publicity over his mob ties and alleged skimming from casinos, Dalitz stayed largely above the fray. Even when reporters and investigators landed a stinging blow, civic and elected leaders often rushed to his corner.

On one such occasion, Dalitz approached Clark County Commissioner Thalia Dondero during her Las Vegas mayoral campaign and told her that he would understand if she would rather not be seen with him.

“If I can’t be friends with you, Moe,” Dondero reportedly replied, “I don’t want to be the mayor.”

D.I. days: Holing up and hiding out

(Suzanne Dalitz via The Moe Dalitz Archive) Joe and Averill Dalitz and their daughter, Suzanne, on a visit to the Grand Canyon.

Dalitz’s life in the sunshine and the shadows defy easy description.

“It’s complicated,” Suzanne Dalitz Gollin , a writer who lives in New Mexico, said about her late father and his legacy. “You can sympathize with the plight of a young girl when they told her that her father was a mobster, or with the young woman trying to form an independent identity while being called a mob daughter and having to endure everyone’s ‘Godfather’ movie references.”

Some of Suzanne’s fondest childhood memories are the times she spent with her father and mother, Averill, at the D.I. Ranch, riding her ill-tempered Shetland pony, romping around the grounds or relaxing at the house.

Even though she was just a little girl, Suzanne has vivid memories about the D.I. and how it differed from her Vegas home. Instead of maids and nannies, she remembers, there were cowboys and Paiutes.

She once spotted a rattlesnake on the bunkhouse steps and ran to tell her father, who was skeptical but grabbed his pistol and sauntered outside “like a real gunslinger, moving slowly until he saw the rattler.”

“Whaddya know, you’re right,” Suzanne recalled him saying. “Then he shot the snake dead and made me and my friend Judy hold it up like a trophy for a photograph, even though its guts were getting all over our hands.”

By the time Dalitz bought and built the ranch house, Suzanne explained during a 2016 presentation to the Washington County Historical Society, he had largely left behind his lawbreaking past.

“Dad didn’t want to be a mobster,” she said. “He wanted to be a lion-hunting, cattle-wrangling cowboy and a respected Las Vegas city father.

“...I never did see a single high-rolling customer, prostitute or bodyguard there, which isn’t to say that kind of thing didn’t happen,” added Suzanne, who was 6 years old when her parents divorced.

(Suzanne Dalitz via The Moe Dalitz Archive) Moe Dalitz on horseback at the D.I. Ranch.

Jay Leavitt, who lives in nearby Gunlock, was a boy when his father, Rodney, was Dalitz’s partner and helped manage the D.I. While he doesn’t discount Dalitz’s mobster past, he believes some of the tales spun about him and the ranch are a bit taller than the truth.

“When I was a little boy, we called him ‘Uncle Moe,” Leavitt recalled. “He would send truckloads of toys to kids in Gunlock.”

Jay said his father ran a telephone line all the way from the family’s Gunlock home to the D.I. Both dwellings had old-style crank phones Dalitz and his dad used to keep in touch.

He remembers Dalitz, upon learning he was about to be indicted, bringing his male German shepherd to the Leavitt home and asking his father to look after the dog while he went into hiding.

“He called my dad later,” Jay said, “and asked him to get his dog a girlfriend so he wouldn’t be lonely.”

Larry Shurtleff, who managed the ranch for subsequent D.I. owners Hyrum and Gail Smith in the 1990s, said Rodney Leavitt once told him about the time he was warned by Dalitz that federal agents would be coming to the D.I. in two days.

Facing possible arrest, Dalitz told his partner that he was leaving the country. Sure enough, “the feds” arrived as scheduled, only to find the ranch owner had vamoosed.

“[Dalitz] was always two steps ahead of everybody,” Rodney reported, “because he had moles everywhere and knew exactly what would happen two or three days before anything ever happened.”

Beating the rap, burying the past

In 1967, Dalitz sold the Desert Inn to billionaire recluse Howard Hughes and found a buyer for the D.I. Ranch two years later. He also hobnobbed with celebrities like Sinatra, Bob Hope and Lee Majors and rubbed shoulders with then-Nevada Gov. Paul Laxalt and other prominent politicians, many of whom hailed him as “Mr. Las Vegas” for his philanthropy and business acumen.

Still, his mob roots and relationships loomed too large for some to ignore. By the time of his death at age 89 in 1989 , Dalitz was said to have beaten every rap except his checkered past.

Suzanne recalls watching a home movie a few years ago of a mountain lion her dad caught and caged in an enclosure at the D.I. that he dubbed the “Lion Hilton.” She remembers her father posing by the cage, looking at the lion as it looked back at him.

“In that lion’s plight,” she said, “I could see my dad’s own dilemma, captured as he was by old stories and bad choices, a man destined to be hunted by the press and government for the rest of his years. I see a man on the outside of a lion’s cage [who] was once a mighty predator but now dreamed of a different life, one out on the open range where the past was past and there were no limits to a cowboy’s horizons.”

Zero HBCU football players selected in the 2024 NFL draft

For the second time in three seasons, zero HBCU football players were selected in the NFL draft. Only one HBCU player — Jackson State cornerback Isaiah Bolden in 2023 — has been drafted in the last three years.

While the NFL draft has concluded, expect several FCS and HBCU players to find NFL homes as undrafted free agents.
