LINKIN PARK Bassist On Band's Future: 'I Think That We Will Do Something Again At Some Point'

In a new interview with Duffy of the Z93 radio station, LINKIN PARK bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell was asked if he thinks there will ever be new music from him and his bandmates. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET ): "The best answer I can give is I think that we will do something again at some point. I think we'll do, hopefully, new music. And I would love to play some shows.

"The reality of it is that the timetable, I have no idea what that is or what that looks like," he explained. "And we're not trying or haven't made any progress toward doing it.

"The relationship in the band is still intact between all the guys and we're still in communication, but everybody is always in different kind of spaces. And the amount of earth that needs to be moved to begin the construction project of LINKIN PARK and whatever that may look like is a ton, and it's not going anywhere fast.

"And so it's just kind of a 'wait and see,'" Farrell added. "I know that's not the answer that anybody wants 'cause it's not really any information. But at the same time, I think it's just kind of honestly where it's at."

LINKIN PARK has been on hiatus since the death of singer Chester Bennington in 2017.

A year ago, LINKIN PARK 's Mike Shinoda said that there are no plans for new music, albums or live shows from the band. The 46-year-old musician addressed LINKIN PARK 's future during a Twitch livestream.

"The only LINKIN PARK news I have for you is that… Yeah, we talk every few weeks — I talk to the guys, or some of the guys," he said. "And there's no tours, there's no music, there's no albums in the pipeline. Okay, so let me just tell you that. So just keep in your minds that that is not happening.

"I'm just gonna say that much for now," he continued. "I say that because anytime the band says anything or does anything, everyone tries to start up the hype train, and we're, like, 'No, no, no, no. Don't start up the hype train.' You're gonna disappoint yourself. Don't do that."

LINKIN PARK has not performed together in public since October 2017, when the surviving members staged a tribute concert in Los Angeles to Bennington . The band has not officially announced whether it intends to carry on following the death of Bennington , who committed suicide in July 2017 at the age of 41.

Four years ago, Shinoda shot down reports that LINKIN PARK was actively searching for a replacement for Bennington . In February 2019, Shinoda took to his Twitter account to write: "Lemme clarify a rumor: we are not looking for a new singer, and if it were to happen organically, I'd be open. Seems pretty clear, yet I guess some folks have a hard time understanding.

"I'm not into predicting the future. The future will happen."

Shinoda made his comments in an apparent response to how the media covered an interview he gave to Rock Antenne . When asked about the possibility of finding a new singer, Shinoda said: "That's not my goal right now. I think it has to happen naturally. And if we find somebody that's a great person that we think is a good personality fit and a good stylistic fit, then I could see trying to do some stuff with somebody... I wouldn't wanna ever feel like we were replacing Chester ."

Shinoda added: "I know the other guys, they love to get onstage, they love to be in the studio, and so to not do that would be — I don't know — almost unhealthy. If doing that means that we need to have some other people in the mix in order to do it and do it well, then we would do that... But, like I said before, it has to happen naturally. I'm not running out and putting up 'vocalist wanted' posters."

Bennington 's passing was ruled a suicide soon after his body was found in July 2017 at his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California.

Chester had been candid about mental-health battles in numerous interviews over the years, saying he grappled with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and substance abuse. His struggles with drugs and alcohol landed him in rehab twice around 2006.

LINKIN PARK released a concert album titled "One More Light Live" in December 2017.

Tell me the words I've forgotten What we were fighting for Staring right into the darkness Through an empty open door

“Friendly Fire’ was always one of our favorite songs from the One More Light sessions. Something about it wasn’t quite right so as close as it got to the finish line, we chose to set it aside for later. When we started looking for an unreleased track to include on our greatest hits collection, I was blown away by the power of the song, the power of the storytelling, the power of the vocal, the sonic landscape and I actually thought that it was closer than maybe we had realized at the time.” Delson continued, “We got together to work on it and connect some of the missing pieces that for whatever reason hadn’t revealed themselves during the recording of One More Light . I can’t wait for people to hear it. It’s such a beautiful, compelling, heartbreaking, hopeful story and it really resonates with me today.”
“In the making of each Linkin Park album, I want to love and believe in each individual song completely,” says Mike Shinoda. “I hope that if any one track is heard on its own in the world, it is something I can feel proud of, and something that takes root inside the listener and becomes part of the energy that connects us. “Curating the tracks for Papercuts was a joy,” Shinoda continues. “Each song in this collection is both a singular moment on our timeline and an evolving story that is as much ours as it is yours. From our first release ‘One Step Closer’ to the brand-new ‘Friendly Fire,’ this tracklist spans all our chapters so far. Thank you for being a part of our journey. We hope you enjoy Papercuts .”

Papercuts is the first singles collection from innovative musical force Linkin Park. The career-spanning 20-track album compiles 18 essential anthems, plus the never-before-released track “Friendly Fire” recorded during the 2017 sessions for their seventh album One More Light and fan-favorite rarity “QWERTY.” Linkin Park were inspired to thoughtfully curate Papercuts by their fans’ passionate reception of the 20th Anniversary Editions of Hybrid Theor y in 2020 and Meteora last year. That enthusiasm led to this comprehensive retrospective of the band’s journey so far in the span of one album.

  • On lead guitar is Kazuki (かずき) , also known as NagomiBright . Kazuki's YouTube channel features a myriad of guitar covers, tutorials and effects gear reviews and has over 337,000 subscribers.
  • On bass is MINA , previously a member of the now-defunct Japanese pop-rock act GIRLFRIEND. MINA posts bass guitar covers, tutorials and tips on her YouTube channel, where she is also shown to be proficient with a number of other instruments. She also posts short-form content on TikTok which has earned her 1.6 million followers there.
  • On piano is Yomii (よみぃ) , who runs a piano-centered YouTube channel with over 2 million subscribers. Yomii began earning accolades in music at a young age: at 15, he composed a piece which won first prize in an official music contest for the Bandai Namco rhythm game "Taiko no Tatsujin". His achievements since then include becoming an ambassador, instructor and advisor for Yamaha's AI Music Ensemble system. His most recent video documents some entertaining shenanigans from the "Already Over" session in Tokyo ...
  • On the drums is Maiki (マイキ) , AKA Maiki P , an artist and songwriter who formerly played drums as part of a Japanese pop duo LatuLatu (ラトゥラトゥ) and the rock outfit Yullie-Echo (ユーリーエコー). In addition to drumming, Maiki provides songwriting and production contributions to other Japanese artists, and some of the work he has been involved in appears on his YouTube channel, which boasts almost 900,000 subscribers.
  • Providing musical direction and perhaps helping Shinoda to oversee the whole affair is Minoru Yokoo , a veteran recording engineer and coordinator who has filled a wide range of management and technical roles for rock bands and orchestral acts around the world since the early 90s.

  • Backing Shinoda up on vocals is the young artist and songwriter Damona , who hails from Bavaria. Damona started out with a brief stint on "The Voice Kids" (a "Voice of Germany" spin-off focused on children) in early 2022, before moving on to grow her own following online and eventually getting signed to a label later that same year. Over the past couple of years, Damona has been refining her 90s-influenced pop-rock sound while consistently nurturing her online fanbase on platforms like TikTok, where she has over 2 million followers.
  • Handling the lead guitar and providing some backing vocals also is wavvyboi , a non-binary pop artist, songwriter and producer with a string of commercial releases stretching back to 2018. wavvyboi has dropped a lot of music since then, and has drawn from a wide variety of genres along the way - hard rock and metal, shoegaze, synth-pop and beyond - but an emphasis on noisy guitar riffs and an unrelenting focus on catchy melodies has stayed consistent across all of it. Their discography is also peppered with collaborations with other adventurous German artists.
  • On rhythm guitar and also doing backing vocals is Simon Will , a YouTuber and artist whose musical output consists of only a few songs between 2020 and now. Out of those, his 2023 musical offerings have been more guitar-heavy pop numbers, as opposed to singles from prior years which featured a softer, more reggaeton-influenced sound.
  • Playing the keyboard is Tobias Hildebrand, AKA tobiplayspiano , a Dresden-based content creator who is best-known for this TikTok post from 2022, which shows him sitting down and improvising on a public piano; the post went viral and has amassed nearly 10 million views to date. Hildebrand's videos feature various covers of popular songs, more public piano performances, and also things like reinterpreting the iconic iPhone ringtone for piano added in for good measure. He has also released a few original compositions which comprise his YouTube channel .
  • On bass is Marti Fischer , a bassist and content creator who has been active on YouTube for over a decade, and whose Instagram bio explains that he's a jack of several trades: music producer, podcaster, web video creator, impersonator and more. Fittingly, Fischer's YouTube content is widely-varied, but the bulk of it seems to be videos about music composition and production, where he analyses music by acts like Depeche Mode, Daft Punk and ABBA, or quickly explains subgenres like darkwave.
  • Behind the drum kit is Raja Meissner , a drummer and content creator based in Berlin who has been playing professionally since her early teens, and whose drumming videos have gained her almost a million TikTok followers. Meissner's selections for covers mostly lean towards hard rock and metal, with many covers of Slipknot songs in particular.

  • On additional vocals is Nørskov , a Danish singer based in Sheffield who is best-known for competing on the 10th season "The Voice UK", and for singing on Rudimental's 2021 single "Straight From The Heart", her only commercial release to date
  • On lead guitar is Paul Davids , a Dutch guitarist and teacher whose successful YouTube channel naturally features guitar tutorial videos and other such content, boasting over 3 million subscribers
  • Playing rhythm guitar is Diego Riera , a content creator from England who began posting guitar performances on TikTok in late 2020, and now has around 1.5 million followers on the platform
  • On keyboard and backing vocals is British bass guitar virtuoso Charles Berthoud , creator of entertaining bass guitar YouTube videos which have gained him almost 2 million subscribers
  • On the actual bass guitar and backing vocals is Cambridgeshire-born artist, songwriter and producer Ellie Dixon , whose alt-pop music and random instrument choices have gained her over a million followers on TikTok
  • And, lastly, behind the drum kit is Sam Arrow , a London-based musician who posts drum covers online and who has played on tour for a variety of musicians including Shinoda affiliate grandson

  • Bobby Amaru , currently the lead vocalist of the rock band Saliva, joins Shinoda on vocal duties along with his daughter Veda (AKA Veda J)
  • Nalu The Piano Man , known for clever piano mash-up covers, is behind the keyboard
  • Brazilian guitarist Mateus Asato , who has toured with various pop acts, and whose guitar videos on Instagram have gained him over a million followers, plays lead guitar
  • Morgan F. Kennedy , guitarist and songwriter who began posting guitar content online late 2020 and has since amassed over 2 million TikTok followers, is on rhythm guitar
  • mynameisnotdrew , best-known for comedic bass and guitar shorts that he uploads to TikTok, is rocking the bass
  • and, last but not least, Nate Mueller , who has built an audience of over a million with his drumming talent, and who is still studying music in college, on the drum kit

Linkin Park Reveal Huge News On Reunion Tour

linkin park new tour

While fans of Linkin Park were excited after a thrilling cover of this Linkin Park classic, they’ve also been wondering if new material from the acclaimed nu-metal group will ever be released. The band has not performed together since October of 2017, mere months after the death of their beloved frontman, Chester Bennington. Lead vocalist Mike Shinoda recently issued the following video statement about the band’s future.

“The only Linkin Park news I have for you is that we talk every few weeks. I talk to the guys, some of the guys and there is no tours, no albums, no music in the pipeline. Let me just tell you that and keep in your minds that is not happening. I’m just going to say that much for now.

In other news concerning Linkin Park, co-founder Mike Shinoda has been enlisted by Warner Recorded Music to be the company’s Community Innovation Advisor. CEO, Max Lousada would state the following via Blabbermouth : “Central to our DNA at Warner is that we start with the artist experience. A passionate creative who’s deeply embedded in the rapidly evolving world of Web3, Mike’s perspective here will be invaluable. As we continue to accelerate deals and build out our expertise across the company, together we’ll navigate the possibilities at the intersection of music and technology with thoughtfulness and authenticity — to the benefit of our entire musical community.”

Shinoda would add: “There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to Web3; every artist and community is unique. Warner has made some strong first steps in this space, and I look forward to playing a role in further exploration — supporting artists in creating new opportunities, and connecting with fans in unimaginable new ways.”

The musician, who was recently appointed Community Innovation Advisor of Warner Recorded Music , discussed the future of the band during a Twitch livestream on Friday (April 22). Linkin Park have been on hiatus since the death of frontman Chester Bennington in 2017 .

“The only Linkin Park news I have for you is that… Yeah, we talk every few weeks – I talk to the guys, or some of the guys,” Shinoda said. “And there’s no tours, there’s no music, there’s no albums in the pipeline. Watch Linkin Park’s Powerful, Star-Studded Concert Honoring Chester Bennington

By Steve Appleford

Steve Appleford

An emotional peak came early in Friday night’s tribute concert to the late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington at the Hollywood Bowl. At center stage was a microphone stand, draped with a garland of flowers, alone in the spotlight –the crowd of more than 17,000 sang the chorus to the music of “Numb.” The tone was joyous and defiant. Bennington’s absence was never felt more deeply.

“I don’t have the words,” said Mike Shinoda, the band’s rapper and musical leader, as he greeted the sold-out audience of Linkin Park fans, many of whom flew in from other states, other countries. “I don’t think any of us do.”

What followed was nearly three hours of music in tribute to the band’s soulful lead singer, whose vocal performances were a balance of rage and vulnerability. Mourning his suicide in July at age 41, Linkin Park reconvened for their first performance since his death to celebrate – with some famous friends – the music he left behind.

Shinoda was the night’s host, leading his fellow bandmates Rob Bourdon, Brad Delson, Dave Farrell and Joe Hahn through a daunting, yet significant event.

Among the guests was Blink-182, who had been set to tour with Linkin Park this year. Led by new singer Matt Skiba at the mic, they dove into their own “I Miss You,” as Travis Barker attacked his drums with a driving, dynamic beat. They were joined by members of Linkin Park as Blink’s Mark Hoppus sang a more anxious take on their “What I’ve Done.”

M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold raged through “Burn It Down,” in dark aviators and backwards cap. With Avenged guitarist Synyster Gates, the metal singer and Shinoda ripped into “Faint,” and Shadows howled Bennington’s angry, throat-ripping hook: “Don’t turn your back on me/ I won’t be ignored!”

A lesser-known guest rocker was Takahiro “Taka” Moriuchi of ONE OK ROCK, offered one of the night’s truest echoes of Bennington, roaring into the mic, leaping into the air for “Somewhere I Belong.” Shinoda slashed on guitar beside him.

Editor’s picks

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.

A late addition to the lineup was Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley, in spiky blonde hair, quickly taking charge shouting, “Linkin Park family, hello! We’re family right? So let’s sing it like family. All right?!” He sang “The Catalyst,” wandering the stage anxiously and singing the Bennington line, “Lift me up, let me go!”

For much of the night, Linkin Park were accompanied by a string quartet. The band’s muscular early hits were well represented, performed with the help of some legit hard rock players (such as members of System of a Down) and proven shouters, including Korn’s Jonathan Davis, whose performance of 2000’s enraged “One Step Closer” was ideally suited to the material. But this was the Linkin Park of 2017, whose newest album, One More Light , was understated and melodic, a direction also championed by Bennington.

That album’s warm, embracing title song provided a theme for the night. During his final tour with the band, his performances of “One More Light” became a moment of communion with fans, as the song began: “Should’ve stayed. Were there signs I ignored?/ Can I help you not to hurt anymore?”

At the Bowl, Linkin Park performed it again, without guests, with Shinoda at a keyboard center stage, as the crowd lifted their cell phones to create a field of stars, another emotional peak.

Some of the concert’s early performances were understandably subdued, compared to the band of its earliest nu-metal tours. There were some unexpected guest turns that took the LP sound in new directions, including Alanis Morissette, who was joined by the dudes of No Doubt for “Castle of Glass.” She also performed a new, unreleased song of her own, “Rest,” focused on the pressures of public life.

Midway into the concert, Shinoda described the moment he learned of his singing partner’s death, and he shared the song “Looking for an Answer,” which he said was written just eight days later. It was in its early stages, still a stripped down piano ballad. And while Shinoda played, he heard his friend’s voice echoed by thousands in the stadium, raging loud and clear.

Where Is Linkin Park Now?

After the loss of Chester Bennington, how does Linkin Park continue?

The music community and the world lost one of the best voices when Linkin Park's Chester Bennington tragically passed away in 2017, just a couple of weeks after another rockstar and one of his best friends, Chris Cornell died in a similar way. Since Bennington's death, the fate of the band has been questionable and fans are still left wondering if they'll get a new singer, even though no one could replace the first. If they don't want a new singer, what does that mean for the band?

There've been a couple of bands throughout music history who've had their lead singer pass away and have dealt with the same problems with continuing without them . Queen, Alice in Chains, and INXS are just a couple of bands who have been successful. The latter even created a reality show to find their new singer. Linkin Park will be no different, as they continue to make music and carry on the legacy of Bennington. But it turns out, we may be hearing from the band sooner than we thought.

Updated on November 1, 2021, by Michael Chaar: Following Chester Bennington's tragic suicide in 2017, fans wondered what would happen to Linkin Park. Well, the band went on a hiatus, and rightfully so, however, rest assured, they are now going anywhere. Linkin Park has announced that while they are, in fact, working on new music and possibly touring, they still "don't have the math worked out, " said band member, Mike Shinoda back on October 29, 2021. While new music is on the horizon, Linkin Park made it clear that fans shouldn't expect any type of hologram experience in honor of Chester. Furthermore, Shinoda revealed that while they aren't actively on the hunt for a new frontman, if they come across someone worth the spot, then they'll definitely consider it.

Linkin Park Returns Following Bennington's Death

After recording seven albums, including Hybrid Theory , which was certified diamond by the RIAA, winning countless awards, including two Grammys, and achieving international success as one of the best bands in rock history, Linkin Park was left without its leading man.

Vocalist/rhythm guitarist Mike Shinoda, lead guitarist Brad Delson, bassist Dave Farrell, DJ/turntablist Joe Hahn, and drummer Rob Bourdon were left shocked after his death and without words.

When Bennington's death was announced , the band had just released a new music video for their single "Talking to Myself" earlier that day. So you could imagine how shocked fans were that they'd gotten new music and the news of Bennington's death all in one day.

The next day, the band canceled the rest of their One More Light World Tour , and shortly after, released a statement that said, "Our hearts are broken. The shockwaves of grief and denial are still sweeping through our family as we come to grips with what has happened."

After they held a tribute concert, the band went on a hiatus to take time and grieve their singer, and only recently have they've started to come out of it.

There Will Be No Hologram Tours, But There Will Be New Music Coming

Something that's become fashionable in the music industry is hologram tours. Fans can now see certain deceased artists through the new invention. But Linkin Park has said they will not pretend Bennington is not gone and will instead carry on some other way.

"That would be the worst," Shinoda said about doing a hologram tour. "I can’t do it. I don’t know what we’re going to do, but we’ll figure it out eventually.”

In January 2018, Shinoda said that the band will live on in some way, he just didn't know how exactly. During a Q&A on Twitter, he said, "I have every intention on continuing with LP, and the guys feel the same. We have a lot of rebuilding to do, and questions to answer, so it’ll take time."

That March, however, Shinoda seemed uncertain about Linkin Park's future.

"I’m unable to say what will happen with the band," told Vulture. "There’s really just no answer, and it’s funny because if I even say anything about the band’s future, that becomes the headline, which is stupid because the answer is there is no answer. Fans think they want to know what the future is: Believe me, I want to know what the answer is. But there just isn’t one."

We got some more hope in 2019 when Shinoda told Rock Antenne, "We all thrive making and performing music. I know the other guys, they love to be on stage, they love to be in a studio, and so to not do that would be like ... I don’t know, almost like unhealthy."

The Band Isn't Actively Looking For A New Singer

And of course, they were eager to get back to the fans. "As long as that connection and interest is there, I think that is our driving force to figure out Linkin Park," he explained.

"It’s not my goal to look for a new singer. If it does happen, it has to happen naturally. If we find someone that is a great person and a good stylistic fit, I could see trying to do some stuff with somebody. I would never want to feel like we are replacing Chester."

After he took time to grieve, Shinoda was advised to get back into the studio to help heal, and he did. Shortly after he was starting his first solo tour.

Linkin Park Has Been Writing New Music

In April 2020, bassist Dave Farrell revealed the band had started writing new music before the pandemic started.

"For us, with the band, we’ve been kinda writing and doing that before this all started, so casually at this point we’re doing Zoom meetings to eat lunch together and say, ‘Hi.’ But we’re not able to get together and write or do that whole bit. So working at home a little bit, working up ideas," he told Dan Nicholl.

"I’ve been playing a lot of drums, just to do something new – I’ve been doing that for the last year, year and a half, and purposely making as much noise as possible to create my own space in the house."

This past August, the band finally re-released their song "She Couldn't," which was included on the 20th-anniversary edition of Hybrid Theory, and this past January they released a remix of "One Step Closer." Shinoda was right; making more music had to come naturally in the end.

Linkin Park is back on the Billboard 200 this week with their latest release, Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000–2023) . The greatest hits set easily launches inside the top 10 on the ranking of the most-consumed albums and EPs in the U.S., and this latest win is special to the group.

Papercuts marks Linkin Park’s first new top 10 on the Billboard 200 in years. As it starts at No. 6 on the tally, it brings the band back to the loftiest tier on the competitive list with a debut for the first time in the 2020s.

Linkin Park has now reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200 in three different decades. That’s no easy feat for any musical act, as the music industry can be very fickle, and even the biggest names can fall from popularity. That does not appear to be happening with the largely defunct group.

The hard rockers first reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200 more than 20 years ago. In 2002, their debut full-length Hybrid Theory climbed as high as No. 2, and it helped propel the outfit to superstar status.

That decade would see the band return to the top 10 on the same ranking with four more titles. Their remix set Reanimation brought them back to the runner-up rung, but they then found their way to the summit with several projects. Meteora, MTV Ultimate Mash-Ups Presents: Collision Course with Jay-Z, and Minutes to Midnight all hit No. 1 on the tally.

Three more albums– A Thousand Suns Living Things, and One More Light –peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the 2010s decade. Linkin Park also broke into the top 10 with two other releases, as both Recharged (a second remix effort) and The Hunting Party landed inside the lofty arena, but missed the throne.

Papercuts opens in sixth place on the Billboard 200, and it earns the second-loftiest start of the frame. Future and Metro Boomin debut their second collaborative album We Still Don’t Trust You at No. 1 only a few weeks after their first huge win. Linkin Park’s compilation launches with 44,000 equivalent units shifted.

Did Linkin Park’s Plans for a New Singer Just Get Leaked? – ‘Don’t Quote Me on That’

Could Linkin Park be planning their return to the music scene with a new singer? During a recent interview, Orgy frontman Jay Gordon shared some of the speculation he's heard about the band's plans and some interesting information about the direction they're supposedly going for a new vocalist.

UPDATE (April 3, 2024): Jay Gordon has since issued a statement and an additional comment regarding what he said about Linkin Park and a potential new singer.

What Did Jay Gordon Say About Linkin Park?

Gordon was speaking with KCAL 96.7's RadioActive Mike Z. for his Wired in the Empire weekend radio show as the pair were reminiscing about the singer's history with Linkin Park. Orgy took Linkin Park on their first tour and Gordon later remixed " Pts.OF.Athrty " for the band's Reanimation remix album.

It was during the discussion that Gordon tipped some activity in the Linkin Park camp.

“Very, very cool guys and obviously a great band. They’ve been around a long time and they’re still going for it," remarked the singer. "It’s going to be tough without Chester [Bennington] , but we’ll see. I hear they got a girl singer now. That’s what I heard.”

After Mike Z. posited whether the band might return some day, Gordon walked back his comment some, adding, “Don’t quote me on that. I’m not sure who the singer is going to be, but I heard it was gonna be female. They might just try to move on like that. That ought to be interesting.”

What have linkin park been up to since chester bennington's death.

After Bennington's 2017 passing, the band reunited onstage one more time for a tribute show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles celebrating Bennington's life and the band's music with many of their peers stepping in to handle vocal duties.

Following the emotional performance, the group went on hiatus. Mike Shinoda has since pursued a solo career and become active in producing other artists as well, being the most visible member of the group since they put recording and touring on hold.

Linkin Park have largely remained in the public eye through celebration of their past works, delving into putting together special 20th anniversary packages for their Hybrid Theory debut and Meteora sophomore set.

Earlier this year, they also announced the career-spanning Papercuts singles compilation that's due on April 12.

The singles "She Couldn't," "Lost," "Fighting Myself" and more recently "Friendly Fire" have all come from the reissue album anniversary and singles compilation packages.

In April 2022, Mike Shinoda revealed during a Twitch livestream that the band members still talked regularly, but that there were no tours, no music and no albums in the pipeline.

Which Women Vocalists Have Ties to Linkin Park?

With speculation often comes fans trying to connect the dots to those with ties to the group. So let's name some of the names of those who have associations with the band:

  • Chester Bennington Tribute Show Performers

Alanis Morissette was the biggest name of all the female performers joining Linkin Park at the Chester Bennington tribute show, but Morissette has already announced touring plans for 2024.

The tribute show also featured up-and-coming singers such as Ilsey Huber and Kiiara , with the latter already having a close tie to Linkin Park when she duetted with Chester Bennington on the One More Light song "Heavy."

Linkin Park, "Heavy" (ft. Kiiara)

The show also featured Echosmith's Sydney Sierota, acclaimed pop songwriter and artist Julia Michaels and pop star Bebe Rexha .

  • Mike Shinoda Collaborators

Mike Shinoda has kept the door open for guests on a number of his solo works. The most intriguing of these names might be K. Flay , who was part of Shinoda's song "Make It Up as I Go." She's had some inroads with alt-rock as well as pop music.

Other collaborators include Upsahl, who appeared on the single "Happy Endings" and Kailee Morgue who guests on the more recent hit "In My Head."

Halestorm 's Lzzy Hale honored Chester Bennington at the 2017 Loudwire Music Awards . Her powerful voice could certainly broach the range of Bennington's more melodic work with his screams.

Plus she's shown the ability to work well with others, having appeared on songs with Daughtry, Nita Strauss, Device, Lindsey Stirling, Evanescence, GWAR and others. She's also signed on to sing for Skid Row on a number of shows this year .

There's also the possibility that the band continues with an unknown.

Amy Lee Responds to Rumors That She’s Linkin Park’s New Singer

Evanescence ‘s Amy Lee has responded to rumors that she’s Linkin Park ‘s new vocalist, denying the rumor but offering an eye-opening response to the possibility of doing something with the band.

Why Fans Might Think Amy Lee Could Be Linkin Park’s Singer

Speculation about Linkin Park’s potential return has ramped up over the last month, as Orgy singer Jay Gordon revealed in a radio interview that he had heard that the band was planning on continuing, before adding, “I heard they got a girl singer now. That’s what I heard.” Gordon later attempted to walk back the comment a bit, and then issued a statement a day after news of his comments were shared by multiple outlets.

Stating that he actually knew nothing about the band’s plan, he suggested that his words were taken out of context and that he had never brought it up despite the video interview showing that he was the first person to broach the subject of a new singer in the discussion.

In the time since, fans have started connecting the dots with female singers that might have the potential to handle Linkin Park’s wide range of aggressively heavy and more melodic material once sung by the late Chester Bennington . Lee would certainly fit that bill with one of rock’s more powerful voices.

What Amy Lee Said About the Linkin Park Singer Rumor

Lee was asked about the the rumor that she was a fan favorite to fill the Linkin Park void by Canada’s iHeart Radio during an interview. While the singer seemed flattered by the suggestion, she denied her involvement with the group.

“That is an incredible compliment,” responded the vocalist. “I have not heard that. No, I have not been contacted [by Linkin Park] or anything like that. But [I’m a] huge fan feel like our worlds, our fanbases are a lot of the same people.”

Lee revealed that she had crossed paths with the band once prior at a studio during a period when they were making the Fallen album and she got to have a conversation with Chester Bennington.

She then confirmed that it was not true that she was the band’s new singer, though she thought the idea of being considered a possibility was “awesome.”

The singer then offered an eye-opening comment to conclude her thoughts on the matter, “They should ask me about that. I don’t have a ton of free time, but I might do it part time.”

Evanescence’s 2024 Plan

The tour schedule is filling up for Evanescence, though they currently have a good chunk of the summer off the road.

The band is booked for a number of festivals both in the U.S. and abroad over the coming months and they’ve signed on for Korn’s 30th anniversary show in Los Angeles in October. But the band’s next big touring run comes this fall with the group joining Halestorm on a co-headline trek through Canada in October. Ticketing info for all tour dates and festivals can be found at the band’s website .
