How to cancel & refund a myIDTravel ticket?

Refunding a myIDTravel ticket involves two steps:

• Find your ticket
• Refund the ticket

1. Find your ticket ticket

To initiate a refund, the easiest way is to access the ticket via  Your flight list . You can also click on the  Manage Bookings & Tickets  button and enter your e-ticket number.

2. Refund the ticket

Click the  Refund  button. The details of your ticket will be shown. Click  Refund now  to initiate the refund.

• Refunds may be processed on any e-ticket with an  open  status, issued less than 365 days ago (this period may differ per airline).
• Partially used tickets and segments flown out of sequence may need to be refunded manually, which may take some time.
• It may take 4 weeks or longer for the refund to be processed. Fares and taxes for unused segments will be refunded by the ticketing airline to the credit card used during the listing process. You may not receive an confirmation by email.
• Refunds will not be issued for the mylDTravel fee for used portions of any ticket.

When checking the flight loads in myIDTravel, you are presented a variety of fare codes. These letters represent a category of airline tickets available for purchase. The corresponding number is a rough indication of the number of available tickets for sale. These numbers might be out-of-date and are capped to 7 or 9 (depending on the operating airline). Also, the sum of the numbers does not equal the total number of available seats. Lastly, most airlines overbook flights, so these numbers do not represent how many seats are actually available to non-rev on.

MYIDTRAVEL ERROR

When you get this error, something has gone wrong with your booking. Most likely, the payment has failed. Your tickets are held for about half an hour, during which you cannot make a new booking for the same itinerary.

Wait 30 minutes and try again.

If you cannot access an unused PNR, it has either been cancelled previously or purged from the airline’s reservation system and is no longer available.

Much improved integration with Sky Team elite plus

Until recently booking online did not seem to offer elite plus benefits for Delta elite plus status. This trip recognized my elite plus status from my Delta Skymiles number, and automatically noted 2 free checked bags and selection of premium seats without charge. Kudos to whoever managed to improve the booking software to accomplish this miracle.

The worst app ever

It took me 2 hours to reset my password and get it to work. I finally booked my ticket then I get a conformation email then another confrontation email. My ticket was booked twice. I called the support line, I was told the system is down, and they asked me to call back after 2 hours. I called back the second time, their system is till down. The third time I called an employe answered me, I told her what happened and she started to laugh. I am not sure what was funny about my horrible experience. I got upset and hang up, and called back again, this time I was able to speak to a supervisor. She then voided one ticket and now I have to wait 24 to 48 hours for the refund. I could choice a different airline but I have always traveled with AirFrance, however it’s a big disappointment this time, this is has to be the last time I travel with them. Customer service is what makes a company or break it. When I choice a company, I choice them for their Belief as company and their customer service. You guys are a big disappointment, and this will be the last time I will travel with you. I hope you technically improve your website/ app and so as your customer service skills... most of client pay extra money to be treated good or at lest right. BTW this the first time that that I review an app or a service ! You can only imagine how horrible my experience was.

Fix the latency

Je sais pas si le développeur lira une revue dans le store anglais mais bon, j’essaye… je suis membre Platinum de Flying Blue et j’espère que mon opinion vaudra bien quelque chose. This is overall a pretty good product and I like the new design that came with the latest releases, but the app suffers from serious latency issues. It takes forever to load content on flight reservations, which is so inconvenient while using on the go during travel. The KLM app has the same problem, which means the two probably share the same infrastructure. Please please please fix the latency on both apps. If you have to sacrifice quality and refinement of the design, so be it. This product serves frequent flyers with no time to waste. Function over form is key. S’il vous plaît et je vous en prie.

However, you'll usually be better served by searching through a flight aggregator such as Google Flights . After finding a good fit, Google Flights will link you to Air France for booking.

Check-in: Air France's online check-in opens 30 hours before departure — except for flights from Atlanta or Detroit, for which check-in opens 24 hours before departure. Check-in closes 60 minutes before departure for Air France flights departing the U.S.

Air France often runs monthly award discount programs that can reduce the cost even more. However, be wary if you see award rates that seem too good to be true. In December 2023, Air France ran a flash sale that discounted business class awards to Europe to just 13,500 Flying Blue miles one-way plus $250 in taxes/fees.

Unfortunately, the Flying Blue director later got cold feet and canceled award fares for most of the 2,500 travelers who took advantage of the deal.

Who should avoid Air France?

Not every airline is suitable for every traveler. Here are a few examples of what kind of travelers should find another airline to fly:

Travelers who want to visit Australia, New Zealand or parts of Southeast Asia. Air France operates an incredible route network to almost 200 destinations across over 80 countries. However, it doesn't fly everywhere in the world. Air France's route map doesn't extend to Australia, New Zealand or parts of Southeast Asia like Malaysia.

Travelers who want to visit Asia. Particularly for travelers based on the U.S. West Coast, it will be an excruciatingly long journey to Asia via Paris. For example, flying from San Francisco to Seoul takes more than 23 hours. Other airlines can fly you to Asia in almost half of that flying time.

Travelers who are Francophobes. Air France is unabashedly French, from serving French wines to French being the primary language spoken onboard. If you're not a fan of French culture, it's best to find another airline that serves your destination.

Before departure, please always consult AF website ( airfrance.fr) to have knowledge of legal conditions when booking on AF flights and to check if your flight is operated.

It is highly recommended as well to check country of destination immigration requirements (ex: recently published South Africa requirements about minors). Air France is not responsible for any missing documents from passengers.

Listing/booking on AF flights is authorized only 60 days before travel date.

For confirmed leisure tickets below refund rules apply:

- reservations must be cancelled 10 days prior to departure on laug haul (zone 4 to 9) and 5 days for European/domestic flights (zone 1 to 3), should transportation not be required

Downgrade refund process for leisure tickets

If you have been downgraded during your AF leisure trip, you can get the refund of the difference by sending your boarding pass and memo travel by e-mail to [email protected] . 

Downgrade refund from Business to Premium Economy may not be refundable depending on contract specifications.

Air France does not accept the use of tickets out-of-sequence. Please note that in case of any issues resulting from such a use, Air France will not accept to receive any claims. To avoid any trouble, please advise your staff to purchase One-Way coupons.

Air France operates a few destinations with 2 sectors and same flight number, i.e. CDG-PPT-CDG (with a stop in LAX) . In such case, one ticket is accepted. Please note that the staff can only be accepted to final destination at the departure airport, if there is enough space available for the 2 sectors.

If the staff chooses to buy 2 tickets (one for each sector), the acceptance may be easier but baggage need to be collected at the intermediate stop.

NB: CDG-PPT-CDG is either operated with 1 flight number, or 2 flight numbers.

Applicable baggage allowance is indicated on the itinerary receipt (1PC of 23kg maximum).

Only hand luggage complying with following conditions will be accepted on board: 1 hand luggage 35x55x25cm + 1 accessory with a total weight of 12kg maximum. In case of non compliance, hand luggage will be collected at boarding gate and put in the hold.

No through checking of baggage is allowed on connecting flight when travelling with stand-by tickets.

Pets in cabine are not accepted

Complying with ZED rules, AF does not accept unaccompanied minors for interline travel. 

Employees are asked to always wear clothing that is clean and neat.

Clothing may not be offensive of distracting to other passengers.This means clothing that's overly revealing, vulgar, or violates community standards

To mark its seventh edition of #AFDigiDays , Air France is presenting its latest digital innovations. With a range of solutions including the Air France app, a hold baggage tracking system and the biometric boarding pass, the company is constantly improving every aspect of the customer journey, to ensure a simpler, streamlined and personalized travel experience. 

New features on the Air France app, your travel companion

With close to 6.6 million downloads, the Air France app is evolving constantly and offers new features to assist customers, help them personalize their trip and save time.

They can discover these digital innovations at the different stages of their trip -

• Additional payment methods - Google Pay and Apple Pay are the latest additions to the classic, secure payment methods available when purchasing your ticket.
• Faster check-in – entering your passport details in a single click is now easier than ever before. Simply click on the “ Scan passport ” pictogram, then place the passport in the specified field.  All data is automatically updated.
• Real-time airport access indications with geo-localization – irrespective of the customer’s location, they can easily plan their commute time to the airport thanks to a multi-transport itinerary (car, public transport, etc.) in real-time.
• A guided airport tour through to the boarding gate – a map is automatically offered to the customer indicating how to get to their boarding gate, making it easier for them to find their way around the airport.
• Real-time baggage tracking – each customer receives a notification informing them of the whereabouts of their baggage throughout their trip and the number of the carousel where they can collect their baggage on arrival.

The Air France Play app is also enhanced with new entertainment options. Customers can enjoy more than 160 French and international press publications, more than 50 videos to watch during their flight (films, TV programmes, cartoons, documentaries, etc.) and a selection of music playlists.

Biometrics to simplify the customer’s journey

To reduce waiting time at the airport, Air France is currently testing the biometric boarding pass solution at baggage drop-off points and boarding gates thanks to facial recognition.

When checking in on the Air France app or at an airport self-service kiosk, customers will be invited to scan their passport. The issued biometric pass will contain the passenger’s encrypted biometric facial data from their ID photo, while respecting the use of personal data. When dropping off their baggage or at boarding, the customer will simply scan their boarding pass and a camera will identify and authenticate the passenger using facial recognition. In a few months’ time, the matching of the customer’s biometric data and image will authorize the passenger to drop off their baggage and proceed to boarding.

Air France CONNECT, to stay connected throughout your flight

On board its Wi-Fi equipped aircraft, Air France offers a new connectivity service, called Air France CONNECT . Customers can now access three Wi-Fi passes on their own devices (smartphone, tablet, computer):

• A free “Message” pass

This allows customers to send and receive messages free of charge on their smartphone or tablet throughout the flight. Customers can also access the website and the Air France app to consult or modify their reservations.

• A “Surf” pass

This enables customers to surf the Internet and consult or send emails. Customers can use this service in the following way:

• 3 euros for the entire duration of the trip on short-haul flights;
• As from 5 euros for the entire duration of the trip on medium-haul flights;
• 8 euros (2,700 Miles), for one hour or 18 euros (6,000 Miles) for the entire duration of the trip on long-haul flights.
• A “Stream” pass

Available on all long-haul flights, this includes all the benefits of the Message pass and the Surf pass. The Stream pass allows you to benefit from a high-speed internet connection to enjoy streaming and downloading throughout the flight for just 30 euros (10,000 Miles).

The Air France CONNECT offer will gradually be extended to offer customers additional services and entertainment such as detailed flight information, shopping and a wide selection of films, TV series and documentaries to watch free of charge on their smartphone or tablet. 

The Wi-Fi offer is available for Air France customers on board the Boeing 787s and is gradually being installed on board the redesigned Airbus A330s and Boeing 777. In addition, since January 31, 2019, the company has been gradually rolling out Wi-Fi throughout its medium-haul fleet. The entire Air France fleet, excluding regional aircraft, will be equipped by the end of 2020.

Lea, the Air France chatbot dedicated to operating irregularities

To significantly improve the experience of customers affected by an operating irregularity, Air France presents its new chatbot, Lea. This virtual assistant allows customers to remain in permanent contact with the company, and offers assistance and support through to the end of their trip. Available in French and English on Messenger, Lea is accessible via a link sent directly to customers by SMS or email. Customers can receive up-to-date information on their flight. Depending on the irregularity, Lea directly sends them information about the proposed accommodation, flight delay or cancellation certificates and compensation vouchers (meals, accommodation, transport, etc.). The meal voucher is used directly as a means of payment thanks to the boarding pass that customers must present to the partners.

Customers can be connected with an Air France agent at any time, at their request.

Thanks to Air France agents, and additional support from its three chatbots Louis, Lea and Lucie, the company responds to its customers 24/7, at every stage of their trip, whatever their request.

U.S. issues travel warning for Israel with Iran attack believed to be imminent and fear Gaza war could spread

Tel Aviv  — Israel is bracing for a worst-case scenario that U.S. officials believe could materialize within just hours — the possibility of a direct attack on Israeli soil by Iran in retaliation for a strike almost two weeks ago that killed seven Iranian military officers. Iran has vowed to take revenge for Israel killing its commanders, who were hit by an April 1 strike on the Iranian embassy in Syria's capital.

Two U.S. officials told CBS News that a major Iranian attack against Israel was expected as soon as Friday, possibly to include more than 100 drones and dozens of missiles aimed at military targets inside the country. Sources have told CBS News the retaliation could include attacks carried out both by Iranian forces, and proxy groups around the region that it has been funneling additional arms to for weeks.  

The officials said it would be challenging for the Israelis to defend against an attack of that magnitude, and while they held out the possibility that the Iranians could opt for a smaller-scale attack to avoid a dramatic escalation, their retaliation was believed to be imminent. 

Asked Friday how imminent he believes an attack is, President Biden responded, "I don't want to get into secure information, but my expectation is sooner than later." The president urged Iran not to move forward, saying his message to Tehran was: "Don't."

Tehran has not indicated publicly how or when it will return fire, so it's unclear how far Iran's leaders will go. If they decide to carry out a direct attack on Israel, there's fear it could blow Israel's ongoing war against Iranian ally Hamas up into a much wider regional conflict.

With the Iranian retaliation expected at any time, the U.S. State Department on Thursday warned Americans in Israel not to travel outside major cities, which are better protected from incoming rocket fire by the country's Iron Dome missile defense system. The latest guidance noted that travel by U.S. government employees in Israel could be further restricted with little notice as things develop in the tinderbox region.

"Whoever harms us, we will harm them," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed Thursday as he visited troops at an Israel Defense Forces airbase. "We are prepared … both defensively and offensively."

On Saturday, all U.S. embassies in the Middle East were put on high alert and required to hold emergency action committee meetings. Diplomats in Lebanon and Israel were specifically told not to travel to certain areas within those countries.

Sima Shine, a security expert and former official with Israel's national intelligence agency Mossad, told CBS News it was a dangerous moment for the region, and the "most worried" she has been. She said anxiety over an all-out war was likely just as high "on both sides, in Israel and in Iran."

If Iran does choose to strike Israel directly, it could involve a complex missile and drone attack similar to the one Iranian forces launched against a Saudi oil facility in 2019 .

"They will try to do it on the military or some military asset," Shine predicted. "But the question will be the damage. If there would be many injured people, killed or injured … I think it has the potential for a huge escalation."

Shine stressed, however, that she still believes neither side actually wants a regional conflict.

U.S. "really trying to avoid war"

The U.S. sent a senior general to Israel this week to coordinate with the close American ally on any response it might make to an Iranian attack. Speaking Friday on "CBS Mornings," America's top military officer said, "we're really trying to avoid war."

"This is part of the dialogue that I have with my counterparts within the region, to include the Israeli chief of defense, who I talked to yesterday," said Joint Chiefs chairman Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr., adding that the U.S. military was "doing things not only to prevent a war, but at the same time, one of my primary things is to make sure all the forces in the region are protected."

"My role, as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, is to plan and prepare," Brown said. "That's one thing we do very well."

Brown's Israeli counterpart, Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, "completed a comprehensive situational assessment on the readiness of the IDF for all scenarios," Israel's military said Friday. 

"The IDF is very strongly prepared, both offensively and defensively, against any threat," Halevi was quoted as saying in the statement. "The IDF continues to monitor closely what is happening in Iran and different arenas, constantly preparing to deal with existing and potential threats in coordination with the United States Armed Forces." 

The IDF said the visiting U.S. general, Central Command chief Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, was taking part in the IDF's situational assessment.

The dilemma for Iran, said Israeli expert Shine, is to figure out how to deliver its promised response to Israel's attack in Syria, but in a way that does not lead to further escalation. Likewise, Shine said Israel could choose to show restraint when it responds to whatever Iran eventually does.

If either side gets the balance wrong, the consequences for the region, and even the world, could be dire.
