We loved our trip by scooter. We decided to stop by and ask for a scooter as we saw the shop. The owner was super friendly and talkative. We enjoyed the ride and would recommend Shankar to anyone coming to Jaisalmer. He also give us flexible time to give back the scooter. Thumbs up for Shankar

I rented bike from here and they provided the bike they provided was in good condition. The owner(Shankar ji) is a very humble person and greets everyone with a smile. They also have a handloom shop with a very unique collection of Rajasthani dresses, bedsheets and other items.

Shankar has a great sense of humor. You can tell by the signs outside his shop. He is a good salesman because he has a lot to offer but he is not pushy. We decided to take him up on his offer for a two day trip to the Thar desert with his friend Aghay who has been a camel guide for the last 25 years. Aghay’s English was more than sufficient to guide us and give us information about the desert, the camels, the villages and the other people who we met along our trek. He knows everyone in that desert! We had an amazing trip! 1.5 hrs of riding in the morning in the endless desert, then a lunch break under a tree. The camels would be hobbled and allowed to roam to eat from the desert trees and Aghay would collect some wood, start a fire, and prepare lunch (even fresh chiappati!). Then a short siesta, find the camels, re-saddle them and we were off for another 1.5 hour ride until we reached the dunes where there was a small wind barrier made up of sticks and branches, some cots, mattresses and blankets protected by a big tarp. We made our beds, watched the colorful sunset from the dunes, dinner was prepared on the fire and we settled in for the night. I have never seen so many stars!! It really helped that there was no moon. We slept so well under the stars and woke up with the sunrise, had a breakfast of millet that Aghay’s village farms in the summer and started our second day. Every hour exploring the desert brought an increased sense of peace and of infinite space. The only sound, the bells around the camels necks was like a relaxing meditation as we walked along through the magical desert. We passed through a village and then to the next camp on even bigger dunes for the second night after our day of camel trekking. That night around the small fire pit, Aghay sang some beautiful songs in honor of Shiva and Ganesh and told us some fun desert stories, and so we had another wonderful night under the stars. The next morning, we had to return to his village and then back to reality...the noisy hustle and bustle of the rest of India. Everyone should experience the Thar desert and Aghay is the perfect guide to make your trip special! Thank you Shankar for this wonderful adventure!

Strong Bike

The bike was strong and the owner was kind. He will keep an ID so come prepared with an extra one and also requires a 1000 deposit so make sure you include that as well. One other point to note was that 1 day is 1 calendar day regardless of what time you pick it up, so if you pick it up at 3pm you are charged the same as if you picked it up at 8am.

Me and my girlfriend had a fantastic time renting a scooter from Shankar Bikes and Tours. Mr. Shankar is a delightful and honest man who only wanted the best for his customers. I highly recommend renting from him!!

My partner and I wanted to get a bike to go out to the dunes. The owner, Shankar, was super warm and helpful, and gave us a lot of good advice! It was simple to get the scooter, and the guys at the shop are very trustworthy! Plus you get plenty of chai while hanging out :)
