Popular south india tour packages, south india tour packages faqs.
Q. What are the places to be visited on a South India tour? A. When sorting through South India packages, make sure your research is complete and you have shortlisted some of its most stunning destinations. A stay in Karnataka can include a couple of nights in Bangalore, its green, bustling capital before proceeding to Coorg for a few days at a coffee estate. On your return you can stay a night or two in Mysore. Another idea is to proceed to Wayanad from Coorg before returning to Bangalore or continuing further into Kerala. You can club a Tamil Nadu and Kerala visit, by arriving in Chennai and continuing to Pondicherry and then to Madurai. Stay for a couple of days in Madurai to see its iconic temples including the Meenakshi Amman Temple and keep a day aside for Rameswaram known for the Ramanathaswamy Temple and the frontier town of Dhanushkodi. From Madurai you can proceed to Periyar National Park in Kerala, then travel further uphill to Munnar. From Munnar you can drive down to Kochi, then to Alleppey, Kollam on a houseboat before continuing to Kovalam. Spend a day in Trivandrum, see its temples and museums and take a flight out of there. Q. What are the most famous beaches in South India? A. Prior to closing one of the South India tour packages, be sure that it incorporates some of the best beaches in the region. A beach holiday in South India is incomplete if it does not involve a stay in the erstwhile French town of Pondicherry. Pondicherry’s Promenade Beach although rocky has an aura of its own and is also where the whole town meets in the evenings when the thoroughfare is closed to traffic and one can stroll on it, eat an ice-cream and watch a gorgeous sunset. Auroville Beach and Paradise Beach are its other pristine beaches perfect for lazing around or wave surfing. Kovalam Beach in Kerala is among its most famous beaches. The rocky promontory with its lighthouse lends it a picture-postcard quality. Visit Mahabalipuram for the shore temples from the Pallava dynasty. The rock-cut shore temples are iconic to Mahabalipuram and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Kanyakumari Beach is another significant beach you should round up on your South India tour. It is where the waters of the three oceans - Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean - that make up the Indian peninsula merge. There are boats leaving from it to the nearby Vivekananda Rock Memorial. The beach is bustling with souvenir shops and little eateries and houses the temple dedicated to the deity after which it is named, Kumari Amman. Q. What are the popular hill stations in South India? A. If you are going through South India holiday packages with the idea of rounding up some of its serene hill stations, you need to make sure it incorporates the below mentioned destinations. Tamil Nadu has its share of some very atmospheric hill stations such as Kodaikanal, Conoor and Ooty with the British-built Nilgiri Mountain Railway ascending the hills and passing through tunnels, offering you a ride you would remember for time to come. In Kerala you can visit Wayanad and Munnar and enjoy a breathtaking tea garden stay. Karnataka’s most popular hill retreat is Coorg which is home to its tallest peak Tadiandamole and a stay amid a coffee and spice estate. Among other popular hill stations across South India, you can travel to Yercaud, Yelagiri and Valparai in Tamil Nadu, Thekkady, Athirapally, Ponmudi in Kerala, Chikmagalur, Sakleshpur in Karnataka, Araku Valley, Horsley Hills, Tirumala that houses the iconic Tirumala Balaji Temple in Andhra Pradesh. Q. Which is the nearest airport to Hampi? A. To reach Hampi by air, you need to take a flight to Belgaum airport, which is located 270 km away and it takes about 6 hours drive. Belgaum is served by frequent flight connectivity from Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Jabalpur airports. Another nearest airport to Hampi is in Bengaluru, which has air connectivity from all parts of India. The airport approximately 350 km from Hampi and can be reached in a journey of six and a half hours. Q. When should I plan my trip to Kerala? A. Kerala being one of the most popular destinations in the south has something to offer all year round. However, the tourist season in Kerala starts from September and continues till April. The peak season is when the weather is slightly cooler and dry from December through February. If you are looking for Ayurveda treatments, monsoon is the best time to receive the therapeutic treatments. The cool, moist and crisp atmosphere helps the body open up its pores and, making it receptive to herbal oils and therapies. The rainy season is also an excellent time to find good hotel deals from May to September. Also, plan your trip when the state celebrates its festivals, June-September for snake boat races, the state festival Onam between August to September, and elephant festivals ranging from January to May. Q. Is there a dress code to enter temples in South India? A. Temples like Padmanabhaswamy Temple have a strict dress code where men need to wear mundu or dhoti and should not wear shirts of any kind. Women need to wear a sari, churidar or a South Indian half sari. Tirupati Temple advises wearing traditional clothes or proper attire. In most cases, men can enter with a pant-trouser outfit and just can just put a dhoti over their trousers where required for the visit. Children are also expected to wear fully-covered clothes. Q. Which are the popular honeymoon destinations in South India? A. The hills of Ooty and Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, the jungles of Coorg in Karnataka and Thekkady in Kerala, the backwaters of Alleppey and Kumarakom or the tea town of Munnar in Kerala are some of the most romantic destinations for a newly married couple. These are mostly hilly destinations with scenic beauty and peaceful surrounding providing the much-needed solitude. Q. Are cameras allowed inside the temples in South India? A. Most temples in South India don’t allow cameras inside its premise although cell phones are allowed. Bigger and sacred temples like Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala, Tirupati Temple in Andhra Pradesh and Meenakshi Temple in Tamil Nadu does not allow entry of camera inside its premises. You can, however, click the temples from outside. However, historical ruins such as Hampi and Mahabalipuram doesn’t restrict visitors from photography inside its temples. Q. However, people in traditional villages and small towns may not speak or understand other than their native language. Q. Can I club my visit to Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry? A. Most tourists club Pondicherry and Mahabalipuram during their trip to Tamil Nadu because both are located close to each other about 96 km away, which is a two hour’s journey. You can arrive in Chennai and travel to Pondicherry from Chennai via the East Coast Road (ECR). En route, you can halt for sightseeing in Mahabalipuram followed by an overnight stay. The next day you can head to Pondicherry. Q. How to pack for my South India tour? A. Temperature is much warmer in South India. Pack comfortable footwear such as a slip-on, light cotton clothes, hats, sunscreen, etc. If visiting the hill stations, get warm clothes. Bring decent and conservative clothes for temple visits. Q. God's Own Country Kerala
Our tour was almost entirely flawless from start to finish. We did not have to think of any details that often detract from enjoying the trip. It was the most organized yet flexible travel experiences I've had. Our driver Shubam, was a delight to be around. Tour company, guides, driver went above an beyond to make our trip enjoyable and memorable. Kerala is Beautiful and the food was amazing. I highly recommend this tour company and will be booking another trip with them in future.
Best of Southern India
To many long journeys and not enough time to enjoy one place I think breakfast should have been included n the price. Sanj our guide was brilliant and very thoughtful He worked very hard . Also I think we should have been met at the airport by a representative and not left to find and pay for transport to our hotel.
Southern India
Great tour! Excellent itinerary, good hotels and well paced. Our leader, Garima, was highly professional and friendly.
South India Revealed
Another winner for me on this Intrepid tour. It's a completely different vibe from the hustle and bustle of the North and the majestic wonder of the forts and palaces. The South is about relaxing but there is plenty to see by way of history and culture. Trust me the South has much to offer outside of its beach scene, there is plenty of rich culture and history to explore, the Ghandi memorial museum in Mysore is a must see and the ruins of Hampi are too breathtaking to explain here. The temples are a wonder to see in Kerala and Mysore - full of colour and lights, if you go try and see if you can experience it during a festival to really see the community come alive (be warned though this is also an extremely busy time to go - October to March). The other extreme beauty comes from the natural beaches in Varkala, the backwaters of Kerala and the fun chill out scene of Goa. It's an eclectic mix across the whole of india, but you tend to hear of the Northern regions more. Our guide Mohsin Ali was brilliant. Patient, calm an embodiment of the soothing south.
Kerala: Beaches & Backwaters
Such an amazing trip. So much packed in to just 7 short day’s. The guide was great and shared some great knowledge on the history of the area as well as suggesting some great activities.
Quick Cochin Munnar Thekkady Alleppy Kovalam 8 Days Tour
I just completed a 8-day tour of the scenic beauty of Kerala with Quick Cochin Munnar Thekkady Alleppy Kovalam. The tour was excellent and well-organised. The itinerary included visits to the beautiful hill stations of Munnar and Alleppey, as well as the famous Thekkady National Park. The sights and sounds of nature were breathtaking, and the local people were warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in experiencing Kerala's natural beauty.
Exotic Kerala Tour (Coconut Holiday Of India)
Great guide who was always smiling, very punctual and helpful when we had a problem. We saw everything we expected to see and the tour was very well organized. Hotels were of good standard.

Southern India Tour with Beaches and Houseboat Experience
Very professional tour and a great experience
Best of Southern India with Houseboat Stay
Overall this was as the reviews state a great tour. However on arrival we had a driver but no tour leader with limited English & no detailed itinerary of the tour including what are options etc & accommodation at each location. We were also the only two people on the tour. Karni was helpful to contact and assist. All hotels were good except the Camellia & Etternia. It is out in the middle of nowhere & the road getting there is windy, rough & steep. It has great potential with a balcony overlooking the forest & across the valley but the bathroom in our room was filthy & had a really strong smell of septic tank! The staff were good at getting a mattress to sleep on as only 1 king bed. Fine for couples but not for a father & daughter. The houseboat was fantastic - though had a king bed it was split into 2 singles for us. Our chef Lebok was sensational who prepared amazing food. All the hotels could do with putting hooks in the bathroom as no where to hang anything including towels, toilet bags etc. and having a small fridge to keep water cold was great in those that had one as well. Jinto our driver from Trawell was fantastic - very confident, considerate & caring. Though limited English he would go out of his way to assist with any request. Highly recommend Rochas in Munnar & Tusker Cafe in Thekkary to eat. Would recommend to everyone to do a houseboat trip as very enjoyable & Relaxin was a fantastic company. Kerala is a beautiful area of India.

Incredible South India

if iam traviling to India again, i would definitely check their tour again, some of the places that we had to visit were not available or did not meet the standards for many reasons, Manohar was responsive and did his best to provide an alternative, he is flexible and a listener and willing to give his best so you can enjoy the Tour.

Lalbagh is one of the oldest botanical gardens in India and is also a major tourist attraction in South India. Located in South Bengaluru, the Lalbagh Botanical Garden is not only one of the largest botanical gardens in India, but also the first of its kind, with planned routes, glasshouses and ornamental flowers growing throughout the property. The garden itself is spread over an area of 240 acres and its construction was commissioned by the famous ruler Hyder Ali. It was finally completed by his son- Tipu Sultan- who designed the gardens keeping in mind the beautiful gardens of Sira in Tumkur District in Karnataka.Lalbagh is home to exotic flowers that were imported by the Sultan from countries like France, Persia, Arabia, Afghanistan, etc. Therefore, flowers that were previously never seen in India were first witnessed in this historical garden. Trees that were imported by Tipu Sultan from all over the world can still be found growing here.Apart from the exotic trees, visitors can also catch sight of some rare birds such as the Myna, pond heron, purple moorhen, parakeets, Brahminy kites, the common egret and much more. Apart from the stunning flora and fauna of the Lalbagh Botanical Garden, it has another striking attraction, which is the Lalbagh rock. This rock, which is said to be over 3000 years old, is one of the oldest rocks in the world and can be found in the center of the garden.
At the intersection of MG road and Residency road lies Brigade road which is considered a shopping paradise for the city dwellers. There is a long stretch of standalone shops, individual retailers, and outlet selling almost everything you need making it one the best Bangalore sightseeing. This commercial hubs houses myriads of global brand outlets as well and it has been a hub for celebrating New Year in the almost every year.
In the technology-driven, futuristic Silicon Valley of India, monuments of historical significance boasting of a glorious past are also abundant. The historical heritage of the city is so magnificent and eminent that it rises to prominence on its own. One such landmark is the Tudor style Bangalore Palace. The Palace is a perfect representation of the lavishness and splendour with which India's most resilient dynasties ruled. Famous for its opulent architecture and amusement activities, the Palace is visited by several visitors every day. The colossal Palace boasts of massive courtyards, bright interiors, kingly grounds, splendid spiral staircases, stately towers and a luscious garden in a proud display of posh regality.Anyone who admires classic architecture and artistry would be delighted to experience it first hand at this Palace. It also houses an amusement park in its enclave to the delight of many younger visitors. Having been a private residence to the Wodeyar family, Bangalore palace offers a linear perspective into the royal life of the forepassed era. It is plush with a vibrant and varied collection of ancient royal artefacts, paraphernalia, hunting trophies and family photos. The Palace houses some of the most famous paintings of the 19th Century, including the works of one of India's most celebrated artists Raja Ravi Verma. The Palace grounds very often become venues for concerts and festivals. World-renowned artists like Enrique and Guns N' Roses have graced the palace grounds with their talent and presence. The Palace hence combines the richness and luxury of royal history with the vivacious and exuberant demeanour of the youth. Bangalore Palace HistoryOriginally a property of Reverend J Garrett, the principal of a school in the cantonment town at that time, the area where the Palace is now located was purchased from him by the British Guardians of Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar for 40,000 rupees. The construction of the palace began in the year 1874. Mr John Cameron of Lalbagh was assigned the task of landscaping Palace along with its surroundings. The complete construction of the palace was completed in the year, 1878.The Palace saw many additions and modifications in its architecture in subsequent years. Maharaja Jayachamaraja Wadiyar added a few portions like the twin external staircase, the platform for musicians etc. outside the Durbar Hall. In 1970, HH Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar transferred ownership of the property to two companies, Chamundi Hotels and Shree Venkateshwara Real Estate Enterprises. However, this transaction was later shown to be fraudulent. A legal battle followed between this deal and Jayachamarajendra's son, Srikanta Datta. The five sisters of Srikanta Datta are now in possession of sections of the 28 acres of the Palace. In the year 1990 Srikant Datta finally compromised with the Chamaraju group and got back his part of the property including the main Palace except for 45 acres that the Chamaraju group still retains. Architecture:The Palace showcases exquisite wooden interiors surrounded by pristine walls. The Palace is enclosed within beautiful gardens. The architecture is a medley of Tudor style and Scottish style and has gothic undertones. A lot of physical artefacts inside are of British origin. It is said that the architecture of this building is inspired by that of the Windsor Castle and other architectural marvels of England and Normandy. The most prominent features of the Palace like the two-level granite structure of the fortified towers and turreted parapets take direct inspiration from the Tudor building styles. The entrance is decorated with grand Roman arches. The exterior of the building is covered in eccentric shapes and angles. The exterior walls are of a blushing cinnabar shade that gives the building a quaint Victorian vibe. The floor of the open courtyard of the Palace is adorned with granite seats covered with azure ceramic tiles. The ground floor also contains a beautifully decorated ballroom. The first floor of the Palace has a distinct chamber known as the Durbar Hall attached to an ornate staircase. This hall is famous for the enormous elephant head that is mounted in it and its gothic style tinted glass windows.

Can I drink the tap water in India?
India is notorious among travelers for sickness – we’ve all heard horror stories about Delhi belly. We do not recommend ever drinking tap water in India, and travelers should avoid drinks with ice and foods that haven’t been cooked or peeled. Salad is off the menu for now – let your inner child rejoice!
What are the toilets like in India?

7-day South India Itinerary
If a pre-designed tour to South India is not your cup of coffee, you can always create your own itinerary with places you want to visit and activities that scream at you the most. Here is an example of a customized itinerary to help you plan your own.
Day 1: Start at Chennai Start in Chennai, the capital of South India. Known for its diverse neighborhoods and urban villages, Chennai is the heart of South India’s artistic, religious and culinary communities. Walk through the museums and temples that give Chennai its beautiful history. Spend your morning at St. Thomas Church or Fort St. George and make your way to the Government Museum and Art Gallery. Spare your afternoon to exploring the hipster cafes, styling boutiques and end off at one of the many bars in the city. Spend the night at one the luxe hotels at the heart of the city,
Day 2: Explore Kanchiparum and Mahabalipurum
Start early and take the short hour-and-a-half train trip to Kanchipuram, also known as the “Golden City of a Thousand Temples”. Enjoy the morning exploring the many temples that encompass the city, namely Kamakshi Amman, Kailashnath, Vaikuntha and Ekambareswarar. When the temples get overwhelming, try puttu , a rice dish layered with coconut and served with luscious spicy curry. In the afternoon visit the silk market and learn about the fabrics that make up saris and perhaps try wearing one too. Take one home for souvenir sake! Head back to Chennai to stay the night.
Day 3: Chennai to Madurai Board an early hour-long flight to Madurai, India’s version of Athens. One of the oldest cities in India, Madurai’s many attractions include the world famous Meenakshi Amman Temple. Marvel at the intricately carved, colourful structure in the morning and pay respects to the deity that is believed to reside there. Spend the rest of the day exploring the medieval remnants in the city. Be sure to check out the Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace and learn more about Gandhi at the local Gandhi Museum. Before calling it a night, visit the Meenakshi temple again in the evening to witness a larger-than-life Aarti ceremony — a special ritual that involves lighting oil lamps to illuminate the entire temple premise.
Day 4: Madurai to Periyar National Park
Prepare for a 3-hour long road trip to Periyar National Park. An elephant and tiger reserve, Periyar National Park is popular amongst tourists. Spread over 777 square kilometres, the reserve is also home to wild boars, sambars, bison, and several species of birds. Spend most of the morning and afternoon journeying through its rolling hills to spot all the wildlife to your heart’s content. Then, in the evening, spend some time visiting the spice plantations around. Grab some cinnamon and cardamom to take home. If you’ve booked accommodation in a hotel inside the park, stay the night there. If not, there are plenty of nice spots outside the park as well for the night.
Day 5: Periyar to Kumarakom
Embark on a four-hour long train journey to Kumarakom. Located in the region of Kerala this vintage town is famed for its calm demeanour and quieter waters compared to its sister Alleppey. Made of a cluster of small islands on the Vembanad Lake, Kumarakom is also known for its 14-acre bird sanctuary. Spend the morning exploring the sanctuary of migratory birds such as the famous Siberian Stork, heron and local species such as the waterfowl. But the best part of a trip to Kumarakom is definitely a houseboat tour of its enchanting backwaters. Grab dinner at a local eatery before you retire for the night.
Day 6: Kumarakom to Cochin An hour and a half’s drive away from Kumarakom, Cochin is known for its diverse mix of heritage. A medieval melting pot, Cochin flaunts its influences from Chinese, Dutch, and Portuguese culture with Islamic undertones. Spend the morning immersed in the multi-cultural communities and local architecture. For lunch, indulge in local dishes where fresh seafood plays the main hero. Head down to the many beautiful beaches that surround the port city. Be sure to make a stop to Cherai Beach. Dip your feet into the shallow waters and clean sand, with rolling rocks and knolls that overlook the waves.
Day 7: End in Goa
End your trip on a two-hour flight to Goa from Cochin, a place known for its uninterrupted golden beaches that stretch along the Arabian coastline. Find hidden coves, crabs, palm trees and markets along the many beaches of Goa . Unwind at Cavelossim beach to enjoy the end of the trip or take a scooter around Old Goa, soaking in the history of the region that once served as the capital of Portuguese India. Spend your afternoon eating away at the many stalls that line the main street, perusing through flea markets until your feet are done. End your night exploring an old school Goa party and the birthplace of psychedelic trance. Make sure you try the Goan fish curry, a local specialty made of your preferred seafood and coconut and red chilli sauce.

FAQs for South India Temple Package
A. The South Indian temple is essentially composed of a square-chambered sanctuary topped by a superstructure, tower, or spire and an attached pillared porch or hall (maapa, or maapam), surrounded by a peristyle of cells within a rectangular court.
A. The magnificent Siva temple of Thanjavur, built by Raja Raja I in 1009, and the Brihadisvara Temple of Gangaikonda Cholapuram, completed around 1030, are both fitting memorials to the two Chola emperors' material and military achievements.
A. Although Kanchipuram is popularly known as the "City of a Thousand Temples," there is no prescribed circuit and no comprehensive temple listing or map to guide visitors. Rather, the thousands of pilgrims who visit the city every day are usually only familiar with the five most famous temples.
A. Temple food is always sattvic, which means it contains no meat, fish, onion, or garlic and is typically composed of grains, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products. "The food offered in South Indian temples is almost always cooked at the temple, unlike in North India, where you can offer store-bought food,"
A. South Indian food dishes are generally lighter and revolve around a rice-based diet, as opposed to wheat-based North Indian food. Many of the world's most coveted ingredients, such as curry leaves, peppercorns, tamarind, coconut, and chilies, are grown in South India.
