Today you have the choice between 2 activities. Your first option is to learn more about Montecatini’s curative waters during a guided walking tour of the city. Discover the town’s elegant Art Nouveau architecture and visit the historic Tettuccio Spa,* known for the health benefits in its mineral waters. Your second choice is to journey to Siena and embark on a walking tour through its narrow Gothic streets. Take in stunning palaces, mansions and the historic Piazza del Campo along the way. Then, get to know local life in a contrada (neighborhood) whose community life is centered around the colorful Palio horse race.

Begin your trip with a 3-night sojourn in the Eternal City. Toast to your Roman getaway with a welcome dinner in a local restaurant. See the city with an expert guide, including an in-depth tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Enjoy ample free time to explore Rome's charms or join an optional tour to the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica.

  • Overnight Flight
  • You are on your way to the eternal city of Rome.
  • Rome, Italy - Tour Begins
  • Get settled into Rome for your 3-night stay. Take time to get acquainted with the area on your own. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner featuring regional delicacies.
  • Rome - Optional Excursion
  • Start your morning with a ride on La Metro – Rome’s underground system. First stop – a locally guided tour of Classical Rome. During an in-depth visit to the Colosseum, your guide recounts its rich history. Then wander along the Roman Forum and the Via Sacra, traversed by the likes of Julius Caesar and Marc Anthony. The remainder of the day is yours. Perhaps you will join an optional dinner in a popular restaurant, where you’ll indulge in a hearty meal accompanied by wine and local entertainment.
  • Make the most of a free day in Italy’s capital city. Perhaps you will join an optional tour* in the morning to the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica, taking in world-renowned wonders such as the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo’s mural of the Last Judgment. In the afternoon, consider strolling through the Borghese Gardens for views of the city’s skyline or meander through Rome’s bohemian Trastevere district.
  • Rome - Montecatini Terme
  • Your Roman sojourn comes to a close today. Say Arrivederci Roma as you transfer to Montecatini Terme to begin your tour of Tuscany.

Extend your Italian adventure with a 2-night stay in Bologna, Italy’s foodie haven. En route, visit a Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese farm, and a Balsamic Vinegar producer aging their barrels in the attic, as countless generations did before them. Your culinary exploration continues with a demonstration of authentic gelato making and a walking tour of Bologna, home to the oldest continuously operating university in the western world and birthplace of some of Italy’s most iconic foods: tortellini, mortadella and Bolognese sauce. Buon Appetito!

  • Montecatini Terme - Food Valley Tour and Tastings - Bologna
  • This morning, traverse the Apennine Mountains and cross from Tuscany into the Emilia region, Italy’s foodie haven. Visit a local farm producing Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese according to traditional codes dating back to the 1300s. Then pause for a light lunch at a nearby villa where the family still ages their Balsamic Vinegar production in the attic, as countless generations have done before them. Your exploration of Emilia’s Food Valley concludes with a demonstration – and tasting – of authentic gelato, before arriving in Bologna, your home for the next 2 nights.
  • Bologna - Walking Tour - Food Tour
  • Spend the morning exploring Bologna in company of an expert guide. During your walking tour, discover the origin of Bologna’s several nicknames – la dotta (the learned) and la rossa (the red, from the colors of its bricks) and la grassa (the fat). Perhaps the latter nickname is the most fitting. Food is a true passion here, as Bologna is the birthplace of some of Italy’s most iconic foods: tortellini, mortadella - the progenitor of baloney - and Bolognese sauce. Visit the ancient seat of the University – the oldest continuously operating in the western world – before browsing Bologna’s specialty food shops. Then, sample local delicacies such as Parma ham and lasagna during lunch at a local eatery. Spend the afternoon at leisure in this lively town. Indulge in some people-watching at a café in Piazza Maggiore, the expansive plaza at the heart of the city’s social life, or search for Bologna’s very own leaning towers: the Garisenda and Asinelli. Whatever your interest, Bologna guarantees the perfect stroll as it boasts over 23 miles of covered sidewalks lined by colonnades offering protection from rain and heat.
  • Bologna - Extension Ends
  • Bid arrivederci to Bologna as your Italian sojourn comes to a close today.

Spend a glorious day exploring the unique Cinque Terre. You’ll discover a magical land nestled between the mountains and the Mediterranean that is nearly inaccessible. Travel by rail and boat,* past terraced vineyards and stunning panoramas on your way to a string of colorful fishing villages that sit along the area’s breathtaking, rugged coastline. Savor the charms of this special place with a local guide who will help you explore some of the delightful towns of the area. Hear tales of the region’s past and present as you come to know why the Cinque Terre National Park has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is the perfect way to spend your day – feeling like you have stepped into a postcard.

About Tuscany

An Italian province popular on Italy vacations, Tuscany’s attractions include mountainous landscapes, interesting medieval hill towns and a coastline with magnificent and dramatic scenery for your Italy vacation. Tuscany is special enough to warrant having 7 UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The heart and soul of Tuscany is the city of Florence , known as the Cradle of the Renaissance with its riches to be found in its art galleries and museums. The city itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Duomo, Florence’s superb cathedral is an amazing structure in itself. The world-renowned Uffizi Gallery has a collection of mainly priceless Renaissance paintings as does the Pitti Palace. The Galleria dell'Accademia is home to Michelangelo’s iconic Statue of David. Take a stroll over the usually crowded Ponte Vecchio stopping in the middle and taking in the views of both banks of the Arno River and then exploring the narrow streets on the other bank.

Siena

tuscany coach trip

Pisa is famous for its Leaning Tower, a sight to behold. In the Piazza Dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles) is also Pisa Cathedral, one of the most ornate and impressive cathedrals in the country. One more place to check out is the attractive Piazza del Cavalieri (Knights Square) which was the political centre of the city in medieval times. You, of course, are well aware of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, one of the most iconic sites seen on tours of Italy, so if visiting this city, you will want to have your camera ready to photograph this unique structure. However, after this, what else? Well, you are already standing in the Piazza Dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles which contains Pisa Cathedral, one of the most ornate and impressive cathedrals in the country – some say more so than the Duomo in Florence. The interior contains many special works of art. One more place to check out is the attractive Piazza del Cavalieri (Knights Square) which was the political centre of the city in medieval times and today retains many of the original buildings.

Beautiful Lucca has a city wall which is in excellent shape considering its age. The first thing you notice about Lucca is the city wall, which is in excellent shape considering its age. You can walk on the promenade on top of the wall all around the perimeter. You can check out the Roman amphitheatre in the Piazza dell’Anfiteatro and the Lucca Cathedral with its marvellous Romanesque facade with arches and carved columns, and its tall campanile. Another site worth visiting is the Palazzo Pfanner, a beautiful 17th Century palace with an ornamental pond, a lemon house, and 18th Century statues of Greek gods. Summertime chamber music concerts hosted here are excellent.

San Gimignano

San Gimignano is a pretty medieval walled town famous for its 14 beautiful towers in the Piazza del Duomo which, as you approach the town rises up like a medieval skyline. The town’s 14 towers are all that remain of the original 72 which were owned by the rich. Most were torn down. The San Gimignano 1300 Museum is where you can learn about the architecture, social life and history of Tuscany in the Middle Ages while on an Italy vacation  together with a large reconstruction of the town of San Gimignano in the 13th and 14th centuries .

The Coastline

On tours of Italy, it’s sometimes forgotten that Tuscany is located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Its principal resort is Viareggio, located 80 kilometres/50 miles from Florence. It has a sandy beach which stretches 20 kilometres/12 miles and is sandwiched between two beautiful dense pine forests. The Cinque Terre to the southeast of Genoa features a coastline of mountainous terrain with steep cliffs dropping down to the sea. Cinque Terre means “five lands” and consists of a series of five small delightful and colourful towns almost equidistant from each other. There are three ways to see all or some of them, on your Italy vacation. There is a train service which stops at each town and runs roughly every hour. You can drive from one to the next, but I don’t recommend this as parking is very difficult. The third option is for the athletic and energetic. There is a trail which runs from one end to the other of the Cinque Terre.

Tuscany Wine

Cinque Terre

Tuscany has to be the most renowned wine region in Italy. Its wines are known worldwide from dry whites to full-bodied reds. Famous names include Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico, and Nobile di Montepulciano. Visitors to Tuscany can take organized day wine tours from Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, and Lucca. Should you be touring by car, you can explore the province and find any number of wineries. Here are  a few special places. Antinori’s winery in Bargino offers not only wine-tasting but also guided tours. Avignonesi is one of Italy’s oldest wineries dating back to the 16th Century and is located at Montepulciano. Nearby is Barone Ricasoli in the Chianti region, Italy’s oldest wine estate (900 years). You can stay here as well, on your trip to Italy, and enjoy both the wine and gourmet dinners. There are several other fascinating and small hill towns that exist in Tuscany almost too numerous to mention. If you do spend time in this enchanting highlight of so many Italy vacations, you can easily discover them for yourself.

Perfect Tuscany itineraries

Vacation blueprints for your trip to tuscany so you can get the most out of your trip, no matter where you want to go and how much time you have, if you only have a few days to spend in tuscany.

Please take a minute to read the section on how to use these itineraries, which explains some of the shorthand and contains all sorts of tips on making these trips work for you. Well, if you've never been to Florence before, you'll spend at least a day or two there.

Then you have time to hit a few of the other major highlights of Tuscany —the Leaning Tower of Pisa , hilltown city of Siena , and/or the towers of medieval San Gimignano .

Here's how:

  • 1–2 days in Tuscany (Florence) » more
  • 3 days in Tuscany (Florence plus Pisa or Siena) » more
  • 4–5 days in Tuscany (Florence, Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, maybe Assisi) » more

If you have about a week to spend in Tuscany

You could do just about anything you have your heart set upon. Here are a few sample itineraries of how you can spend a glorious week exploring Tuscany (with a few dips into neighboring Umbria):

  • The week - long Tuscan Classic (Florence, Lucca, Pisa, San Gimignano, Siena, Asciano, Monte Oliveto Maggiore, Pienza, Montepulciano) » more
  • Seven days of hilltown gems (Cortona, Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi, Todi, Chiusi, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Volterra, San Gimignano) » more
  • An eight - day gluttony of great art (Florence, Siena, Monterchi, Sansepolcro, Perugia, Assisi, Cortona, Chianciano Terme) » more
  • Six days of wining and dining in the countryside (The Chianti, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Orvieto) » more
  • Five days on the Etruscan Trail (Florence, Volterra, the Maremma—Grosseto, Sorano, Sovana, Pitigliano—Orvieto, Chiusi, Cortona) » more

Guided tours of Tuscany

If you prefer someone else to sweat the logistics details, take care of the driving (or train tickets), and provide a professional guide for all the sightseeing, consider an escorted tour.

Not just any tour, mind you, but one that allows you a measure of the kind of freedom independent travel offers—small groups (12 or fewer), trasnport usually on local trians and buses (rather than a giant tour bus), and the freedom to program some of your own sightseeing and meals (rather than being forced to do everything and eat everywhere as a group)—but still with all the support of a local guide.

Here are some of those kinds of independetly-spirited tours that cover Central Italy from trusted partners.

I'm all for planning your own trip‚ and this website is set up to help you do just that—but some people might just as well prefer to leave all the planning, logistics, transportation, lodging, and gathering of information to the professionals and simply sign up with a guided tour.

Nothing wrong with that. Just take my advice and choose a tour that emphasizes small groups over large crowds, local transport over big tour buses, and fun cultural experiences over sightseeing checklists. You'll have a better time, and probably spend less for it. Here are a few of my favorite tour companies who emphasize just that.

A tall order for just two weeks? You bet. But there are three tricks to fitting all you can into such a short time here.

  • Two weeks actually lasts 16 days  (figuring you leave on Friday night for your overnight flight, and you don’t return until two Sundays after).  » more
  • You're going to  fly  "open-jaws" into   Rome  and out of  Milan . This will save you a full day of traveling back to where you started to pick up the return  flight .  » more
  • You are going to take some guided daytours  to visit the towns and sights outside the big cities in order to (a) pack as much sightseeing as possible into a limited amount of time, (b) get a professional guide, and (c) provide all transportation so you can spend your time seeing the sights and not waiting on train and bus connections.

Don't forget to pay attention to the " What to do before you leave " section (next) covering all the details you need to take care of before leaving home—and be sure to read the " Foolish Assumptions " page about how these itineraries are meant to work.)

  • Learn more about Italy
  • Practice your Italian

The basic itinerary above is pretty packed—a lot of early morning wake-ups, a lot of churches and museums—because there's simply so much to see and do in Italy.

By all means, feel free to prune this itinerary down to something a bit slower paced if you don’t want to spend so much time running around (say, leaving out a few hilltowns— Pienza or Orvieto—or perhaps the Cinque Terre , or maybe Pompeii ). I've even gone ahead and whipped up a sane version of this itinerary that leaves out Pompeii and the Cinque Terre .

Think of this more as a blueprint to squeezing in the maximum possible. You should, above all, have fun.

I will freely admit to being as guilty as anyone of this, but: Please try not to overplan your trip to Italy. That's a two-fold plea:

  • Plan everything, but don't feel compelled to stick to the plan. I think it's a fine idea to work out all the details of what you plan to do—if nor no other reason than it will help you get a handle of what you are able to get done, and start making the hard choices of what you have time for and what you should leave for the next trip to Italy. (Always assume you will retrun!) But then do not book absolutely every second in advance (that leaves no room to adjust things as you go to accommodate changing interests, sudden festivals, or unexpected invitations), and please do not attempt to stick to the schedule if it turns out to be overly ambitious and startrs making you miserable. Rememeber Clark W. Griswold, the Chevy Chase dad in the Vacation movies, always bound and detemrined to get to WallyWorld come hell or dead aunties? Yeah, don't be that guy. No one in that family was having any fun.
  • Don't try to pack too much in. A vacation is not meant to be all about checking sights off a list or dashing from place to place to fit in as much as humanly possible. It's about enjoying yourself. So do that. Enjoy yourself. Take a hint from the Italian concept of la bel far' niente— the beauty of doing nothing—and take a break from the sightseeing every once in a while. Leave some time to stop and sip the cappuccino.

Your helpful guide will show you to your air-conditioned coach. Enjoy a comfortable ride out of the city as you make your way to your first enchanting stop of the day.

Take a Walking Tour Through Siena

Before long, you will arrive in the medieval city of Siena. Begin with an immersive walking tour of the historic city, as your expert guide leads the way. Visit the oldest bank in the world and marvel at the vibrant Piazza del Campo. From here, follow your guide into the breathtaking Duomo di Siena. Admire the intricate details of the cathedral’s architecture, as well as the mesmerizing artwork that lines its interior walls.

Following your visit inside the city’s treasured cathedral, enjoy free time to explore the charming streets of Siena at your leisure. Spend your time shopping at local boutiques or enjoy an espresso at one of the many open-air cafes in the piazza. The choice is yours!

Enjoy Lunch at a Chianti Vineyard

After departing Siena, you’ll be driven to an idyllic, family-run winery in Chianti. Here, you’ll be treated to a traditional Tuscan lunch. Depending on the seasonality of ingredients, you will indulge in homemade pasta, prosciutto and salami, local cheeses, a delicious garden salad and a classic, Tuscan dessert like cantucci cookies. Everything will be made from fresh, organic farm produce and will of course be accompanied by wine! Along with your lunch, you will be sampling local wines such as Chianti, Vernaccia, and Vin Santo, a Tuscan dessert wine.

After a mouthwatering lunch and some time to take pictures of the magnificent property, it will be time to move on to your next stop.

Wander Through San Gimignano

Walk off your decadent lunch by exploring the majestic, hilltop town of San Gimignano. Enjoy free time to explore the delightful town at your leisure, and make sure to have your camera handy. Wander through narrow streets and lively squares as you peruse local shops --be sure to visit one of the town’s famous medieval towers before leaving!

Take a Scenic Drive to Pisa

Take the scenic route to your last stop of the tour, winding through the verdant, rolling hills of Tuscany, you’ll finally arrive in the beautiful city of Pisa. Wander to the Cathedral and Baptistery before marveling at the legendary Leaning Tower of Pisa from the outside.

Before departing, learn more about this fascinating city on a quick tour of Pisa’s historic center at your leisure. Afterwards, it's time to hop back on your coach and return to Florence. Full Itinerary

Depart florence.

We will meet at the front of Santa Maria Novella train station at 7:45am, ready for an 8.00am start. After meeting your expert guide, an air-conditioned coach will whisk you away to the first stop on our jam-packed itinerary.

View Siena through the eyes of a local as you join a guided walking tour through the medieval city made up of yellow-ochre buildings, terracotta rooftops and green shutters. Learn about the world’s oldest bank, see the Piazza del Campo - the site of the 600-year-old Palio horse race - and admire the interior of the Duomo, a treasure chest of artworks. Afterwards, enjoy Siena at your own pace with free time for shopping or relaxing in an open-air cafe.

A Tuscan Lunch at a Chianti Vineyard

Next we stop at an organic, family-run wine estate – the highlight of our Tuscany tours! You will take part in an informal wine tasting lesson, trying Chianti, Vernaccia and Tuscan dessert wine, Vin Santo. Next enjoy traditional local lunch with plenty of wine, and soak in the idyllic location overlooking stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Take the opportunity to meet fellow travellers while feasting on fresh, organic farm food, including homemade pasta, cured meats (homemade prosciutto and salami), local cheeses, a real garden salad and Tuscan biscotti (if the tour option without lunch is chosen, this part of the tour is not included but there will be more time spent in San Gimignano).

Don't forget your camera - the view from the winery is jaw dropping!

San gimignano.

After lunch we visit the enchanting hilltop town of San Gimignano where you have free time to roam the picturesque streets and squares. Maybe browse the local shops, try an award winning gelato or walk among the town’s famous medieval towers.

Scenic Country Drive & Pisa

A scenic drive through iconic Tuscan countryside will take you to your final stop, Pisa. Here, take a closer look at the iconic Leaning Tower, the Cathedral and the Baptistery. A brief tour of the historic heart of Pisa will show you another side of the city.

Upgrade to include skip-the-line entry to the Leaning Tower

Return to florence.

You will be dropped off in Florence at around 8.30pm with a camera full of pictures, a stomach full of hearty Tuscan food and a host of new friends.

Know before you go

  • Due to uneven and steep surfaces, we are unable to accept wheelchair users or those with walking difficulties on our Tuscany tours.
  • Children under the age of 8 years are not permitted to climb the leaning tower of Pisa.
  • When the Duomo of Siena is closed for religious services, Santa Maria della Scala museum will be visited instead.

Guy meets world

Hats off to Tony!

by: Guy meets world on Tripadvisor

From the quaint sienna tour to the stunning wineries of San gimignano, this trip is a go-to for anyone trying to conquer Tuscany in a day. The lunch consisted of four courses and two bottles of wine from a completely organic family owned winery overlooking the rolling hills of the Tuscany country side. The bus is well air conditioned with just the right amount of commentary between destinations to have useful information without feeling like you are on a Hollywood star tour. Our guide, Tony, was the perfect liaison to guide the experience.

Fantastic experience with our tour guide Tony and driver Daniele. He kept a positive atmosphere and allowed ample time to explore and dine.

My favorite part was the winery visit. The hills of Tuscany were amazing. The iconic leaning tower of Pisa was a fun place to visit. Our tour leader Alessandro was great.

Great Tour of Tuscany

by: Jays1763 on Tripadvisor

What a fantastic tour! Davide was a tour guide for the day and he was great! He made the tour fun and entertaining. The tour through Tuscany is beautiful. Lunch was a lot of fun. We met people from our tour while we had a great lunch with great wine on a farm with a fabulous view of the Tuscany countryside. Siena is a beautiful town with great history and an annual horse race that looks like a fun experience. It is a long day but it is worth it and you really feel like you get to see a lot of Tuscany. I would highly recommend this tour

Great Experience

by: Honey H on Tripadvisor

Alice was an amazing tour guide. So was the lady at Siena. Both had so much passion for their cities and made the tour a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic and everything ran smoothly. I have already recommended this tour to a few of my friends.

Siena, Tuscany, San G, and Pisa!

by: Amanda G on Tripadvisor

The locations were amazing! The food and wine at the farmhouse was beyond expectations. Alicia (Alice, tour guide) and Michal (bus driver) were hilariously entertaining, enthusiastic, informative, and very helpful with our trip. HIGHLY recommend!

All and all this tour is very well run and allows you to see major Tuscan towns/sites all in one day. However, there is not much time in each place to explore especially if others in the group do not return to the bus on time which happened to us at multiple stops. I would still recommend this tour and we are glad we did it.

Awesome day!

by: Lauraestark on Tripadvisor

Mariella was an excellent tour guide. We enjoyed all of the stops. The winery had stunning views and they offered vegetarian options. Pisa was our last stop and it was so fun to walk to the top of the leaning tower. Long day but totally worth it!

The F

Unmatched customer service - fantastic experience

by: The F on Tripadvisor

Truly a great experience. We arrived late due to lack of cabs in Florence (plan for it) and the company reached out and arranged for a cab to drop us off at the bus. The tour guide was beyond exceptional and we got to see some truly amazing places, hard to believe humans created these works of art. Highly recommend!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do hotel pick-ups or do you have a central meeting point.

We do not organise hotel pick-ups for difficulties with parking and scheduling, but our meeting point at Florence's main train station is very central and should be easy to get to. Many hotels are located within easy walking distance of the train station, otherwise a taxi (you could ask your hotel to book it for you) would be the fastest option, dropping you off right at our meeting point.

CAN WE CLIMB THE LEANING TOWER OF PISA? IS IT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE TOUR?

When you make a reservation you will have the chance to upgrade your tour to include entry to the Leaning Tower before you proceed to the payment stage. Remember that children under the age of eight are not permitted to climb the tower.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

We suggest comfortable clothing and above all, comfortable shoes for walking. In the summer months please remember that you are expected to cover your shoulders to visit inside churches, but if you are dressed for a hot day don't worry, you will be given a disposable paper cape for the Cathedral in Siena.

HOW MUCH TIME DO WE SPEND ON THE BUS?

We have arranged an itinerary so that you will cover as much of Tuscany as possible but without spending too long on the bus. The longest ride of the day is through beautiful Tuscan scenery and lasts about an hour and a half.

DOES YOUR BUS HAVE A WASHROOM?

Our bus does not have a washroom. However the day is very well divided that you are never too far from washrooms. In the morning it takes just over an hour from Florence to Siena, then just forty minutes from Siena to the wine estate. After lunch we go to San Gimignano (only ten minutes drive) and from there to Pisa which takes one and a half hours. After Pisa it's just over an hour to Florence, depending on traffic.

DO YOU CATER FOR PEOPLE WITH FOOD ALLERGIES/VEGETARIANS?

Definitely! If you would prefer an alternative to the menu we have chosen, please tell your tour leader and he/she will telephone ahead to arrange it.

IS THE TOUR SUITABLE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN?

The thing to remember is that it is a long day (12 hours) and the city visits can be tiring for children. We have had occasional problems in the past when tired children have become fractious and noisy during the bus rides and disturbed the other passengers. So the decision has to be yours because you know your children! We reserve the right to ask you to leave the tour if in the tour leader's opinion your child disrupts the tour. We suggest to parents of very young ones that they use a back pack type of baby carrier rather than a stroller/pram because of the many steps, steep slopes and uneven surfaces in the medieval towns that we visit. It's also much quicker getting on and off the bus!

CAN WE GET OFF IN PISA?

If you have plans to stay in Pisa, you can bring your luggage with you (there is plenty of space on the coach) and collect it at the end of the tour, before the rest of us head back to Florence.

WE HAVE A FLIGHT/TRAIN TO CATCH FROM PISA AFTER THE TOUR. HOW CAN WE GET THERE?

If you have to get to the airport at Pisa, it's about fifteen minutes by taxi – the tour leader can help organise a taxi for you. If you are traveling by train, Pisa Centrale station is a ten minute taxi ride or bus ride away.

When you make a reservation you will have the chance to choose the tour option that includes the entry to the Leaning Tower before you proceed to the payment stage. Remember that children under the age of eight are not permitted to climb the tower.

WE ARE CATCHING A TRAIN AFTER THE TOUR, CAN WE BRING OUR LUGGAGE WITH US?

Our tours leave from and return to the main railway station in Florence, so if you are travelling on by train, bring your luggage with you in the morning and take the train in the evening directly after the tour. You will save both time and money by not having to use the luggage deposit! We recommend that you book any rail travel from Florence after 9pm to allow time for any traffic delays. We cannot be held responsible for any loss or extra expense incurred in the unlikely case of delays due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.

Rich heritage and a richer soul

Few scenes are more evocative of  Italy  than that of rural Tuscany, undulating hills, dotted with stoic stone farm houses, dark green cypress trees and ranked vines, all under a shawl of a dawn’s mist.

Recognisable over shoulder of countless Renaissance Madonnas, Tuscany has long drawn enamoured visitors, each after culture, wine, fine food and tangible history. All are elements that abound across Italy, but here are uniquely distilled between the Apennine Mountains and the sea.

The whole region was built on Etruscan and Roman roots, and whilst in  Florence  the Renaissance reigns, out in the countryside the old towns perched on hill tops retain the honest rustico charm of the Medieval. Masterpieces from both ages can be found in unmatched concentrations in Tuscany, tucked away in churches, museums and galleries all over the region.

Pisa has more to offer than its skewed tower; the Duomo, Baptistery and Camposanto complete a stunning quartet of medieval triumphs. Siena’s scallop-shaped piazza, flanked by soft orange townhouses and Torre del Mangia, is one of the most idyllic public spaces (except perhaps during the infamous biannual Palio di Siena horse race). Towns seeming untouched by time, such as Montalcino, Pienza and San Gimignano, sit scattered across the region amidst golden wheat fields, silver olive groves and ancient vineyards, each with their own charms.

The food and wine here enjoys a similarly unpretentious integrity. Tuscans are enormously proud of their culinary traditions and their locally sourced, seasonal produce. Encompassing the Chianti region, Tuscany can also claim to produce some of the finest wines in Italy.

Italian Expresso - 5 days

Wow, we saw all the highlights, group was so much fun and the included meals were delicious. A bit of walking but that was perfect after big pasta lunches with Tiramisu to finish! Patricia [our tour guide] was amazing - she kept the group moving but with great history narrative and a fabulous sense of humor and Franco our driver was an absolute professional. I would happily go back and do a longer tour with On the Go in Italy.

Premium Tuscany Tour

Premium Tuscany

This was our first tour. It was very informative and the cities that were explored were both interesting and beautiful. Unfortunately Italy was experiencing a heat wave and all the walking turned into a lot of sweating ( not your fault ). If in the future we go on another tour... it will be with Tourradar.

Italy By High-Speed Train Tour

Italy By High-Speed Train

The organization of the various componenets of the trip was excellent and the location of the hotels was also very convenient. Overall the hotels were excellent as well - except some of the front desk staff, specifically in Rome and Venice were not helpful and at various times very rude. At the Venice hotel - I was ignored at the front desk by the front desk receptionist - AND one of the hotel staff members tried to exchange USD for Euro's with a steep charge just so we could book an airport transfer - He told us we needed to give him 40 Euro's in cash just to book an airport taxi and wanted to give us 77 Euro for 100 USD. Thankfully we did not exchange with him and instead waited, asking the next front desk staff member (an hour later - after the change of shift) and he said - we dont exchange cash in the hotel - use the ATM down the street - still took the $40 Euro just to book the taxi (and then pay the taxi when it is taken in the car) - Again, this is not the fault of Tour Radar but it was alarming. On another note, it is difficult to bring all of the luggage onto and off the train but you are provided with your own booked seat. My husband was not booked to sit with my daughter and I on the train rides - he was sitting a few rows ahead for each train. Transfers to airports should either be provided or resources should be provided. The tour of the VATICAN was perfect - excellent and thorough. The other two walking tours are just walking around for an hour or an hour and a half with someone telling you about the external buildings - no tickets for entry to museums.

La Dolce Vita - 11 days

The first 7 days were excellent with Clara, our tour guide. She was knowledgeable, coordinated the schedule to make sure everything was on time and everyone was included. She was also fun and interesting with a good sense of humor. The tour guide for the last three day, Ludovica, was not communicative or very friendly. On the day we arrived in Sorrento we were dropped off at a street corner and told our hotel was just up the road. It turns out the hotel was over a mile uphill and Ludovica never mentioned that the hotel would provide a shuttle. We ended up climbing up the hill with our luggage in very hot weather. It is very disappointing that the tour guide did not communicate this.

What people love about tuscany tours from rome.

This was an amazing tour. The itinerary, tour guides, and hotels were all up to the mark; definitely suggest.
Basically a tour that consisted of hotels, transport by train and a couple of short walking tours. We knew that before we went and so was fine. The addition of an extra night in Rome is needed with tickets for Colleseum and Palatine Hill on one day. We did this by ourselves although it was a lot of hassle trying to get tickets for the Colleseum and got ripped off.
