ABOUT STEVE MILLER

Steve Miller has been a monumental presence on the American music scene for more than half a century. Miller’s Greatest Hits 1974-78 received the RIAA Diamond Award with sales of more than 15 million copies. It is among the 25 best-selling albums of all time. At the start of his career, Miller became a mainstay of the San Francisco music scene that upended American culture in the late 1960s. Beginning in the 1970s, Miller crafted a brand of pure pop that was polished, exciting, and irresistible — and that dominated radio in a way few artists have ever managed. Hit followed hit in what seemed like an endless flow: “The Joker,” “Take the Money and Run,” “Rock’n Me,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Jet Airliner,” and “Abracadabra,” among them. In recent years, Miller has fully immersed himself in the blues and its many byways. At the request of Wynton Marsalis, he is defining a blues pedagogy for Jazz at Lincoln Center where he has curated and headlined shows that explore the history of American music and the profound connections between the blues and jazz. He is also a member of the visiting committee of the Department of Musical Instruments at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This past September, the 2016 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and 2022 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee released J50: The Evolution of The Joker to mark the 50th anniversary of the release of multi-million seller, iconic album, and single “The Joker.” With each listen the beauty and immediacy of his work, at its most playful or most serious, is palpable. Whether he was riding the top of the charts or traveling the endless blue highways of American music, one can hear him playing and singing with conviction and precision, passion, and eloquence, and making music that is at once immediately accessible, thrillingly alive in the present, and more than able to stand the test of time.

DEF LEPPARD End THE STADIUM TOUR 2022 Leg 1 In DENVER, CO (Show Report/Setlist)

Def Leppard played show number 18 of The Stadium Tour in Denver, CO last night with 17 songs performed.

The show took place at the 50,398 capacity Coors Field.

The first show in Denver since July 2018 on the Journey co-headline tour.

The 28th show by the band in this city and second time at this venue.

The first visit to the stadium in 2018 was played on the same date of 21st July.

The first visit here took place in June 1980 at the McNichols Arena on their first American tour.

The 12th/13th February 1988 Hysteria In the Round shows were filmed for the In The Round-In Your Face concert video at McNichols Sports Arena with Tesla in support.

Another hot show to end the first part of the tour?. The forecast said yes.

Show #18 - The Sun Sets On Leg One

A massive crowd of around 45,000 people packed the stadium and saw the opening sets by Classless Act, Joan Jett and Poison.

And then it was the turn of Def Leppard and the forecast was right - 32C heat and bright sunshine for the final night of the first leg on The Stadium Tour 2022.

The band were loud and the crowd were also loud prompting another "Unbelievable" from Joe at the end.

The tour started in a thunderstorm with torrential rain and lightning but it ended, for now, with proper summer weather.

And as the set progressed the sun literally set on this tour leg.

Another great display unfolded behind the stage as they moved into the acoustic section.

By the time they got to 'Rock Of Ages' and 'Photograph' the sun was just about set.

And that brought an end to the first leg of 18 shows.

None of which had to be postponed other than one show being cut down by three songs and another delayed.

With an average crowd of about 40,000 or so they have played to around 700,000 fans in the first 18 shows.

The biggest run of stadium shows in their career and actually almost as many shows in big stadiums played in this month than in their first 44 years of touring.

Setlist - The Rock Set

The setlist first introduced in Detroit was played once more for the seventh show in a row.

Referred to by the band as the "rock set" in their most recent behind the scenes video.

As shown on a printed setlist photographed backstage by a fan in Milwaukee the band have also rehearsed 'Mirror Mirror (Look Into My Eyes)' and 'Too late For Love'.

Songs which may be included on the next leg if they decide to mix it up further.

View many photos and fan video clips below.

Motley Crue

Motley Crue played their usual 15 song setlist which has been the same since show #2 when they dropped 'Piece Of Your Action' from the opening night.

The tour will sort of carry on for Poison who play later tonight at Harrah's Stir Cove in Council Bluffs, IA for another solo date outside of the main Stadium Tour.

Council Bluffs - played by Def Leppard in 2002 on the X/Ten tour.

2024 T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards: Quarterfinal Results

Five things to know about the chevron championship.

  • LPGA Match Play
  • Tournament News

Leona Maguire

The quarterfinal matches at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards are complete, and each of the four matchups on Saturday morning at Shadow Creek were all thrilling in their own right. Ultimately, Leona Maguire, Sei Young Kim, Narin An and Nelly Korda will play the afternoon in Las Vegas as all work to come up big with a $300,000 first-place prize up for grabs in Sin City.

Take a look at how the quarterfinals played out at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards:

Match 1 – Leona Maguire def. Moriya Jutanugarn 4 and 3

Maguire won the first hole with a par to go 1 up early on Jutanugarn, never relinquishing the lead throughout the entire match. She made a birdie on the par-4 3rd to move to 2 up, but Jutanugarn then won the fourth hole to get back to 1 down. The Irishwoman recovered immediately, winning No. 5 with a par to again have a 2-up advantage with 13 holes to play and then won the par-3 8th hole to get to 3 up. Maguire collected back-to-back victories on holes 11 and 12 to move five ahead of Jutanugarn with six holes to go, and while the Thailand native tried her best to make a late charge after winning with a par on 14, Maguire ultimately closed out the match on 15 to win 4 and 3, advancing to the semifinals.

Match 2 – Sei Young Kim def. Rose Zhang 6 and 5

Kim blitzed Zhang right out of the gate at Shadow Creek, winning the first three holes to immediately go 3 up. The pair tied on the fourth hole, and Kim once again threw a one-two punch at Zhang on holes five and six, now 5 up on the Mizuho Americas Open winner with 12 holes to play. Zhang won her only hole of the match with a birdie on the par-5 7th hole to get back to 4 down, and after tying Kim on holes eight and nine, she lost the par-4 10th hole, now five down with eight holes to go. Kim and Zhang tied 11 and 12, and it was a Kim birdie on the par-3 13th hole that ultimately spelled the end for Zhang, who fell 6 and 5 to the major champion.

Match 3 – Narin An def. Minami Katsu 1up

The grittiest match of Saturday morning at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards saw An and Katsu tie holes one and two before An struck first with a par on No. 3 to go 1 up. Katsu quickly answered, winning the fourth to tie the match and flipping it with a victory on No. 5, now sitting at 1 up with 13 holes to play. Undeterred, Republic of Korea native An imitated her Japanese counterpart on the next two holes, tying the match with a win on the No. 6 and then grabbing a birdie on the par-5 7th hole to go 1 up. Katsu then won the ninth to square things back up, and the pair tied holes 10 and 11 before An won 12 and 13 to take a 2-up lead to the final five holes. Katsu fought back hard, winning 14 and 16 to tie the match once again with two holes left at Shadow Creek, but An came up clutch with a birdie on the par-3 17th hole and won the match 1 up after tying Katsu on No. 18.

Match 4 – Nelly Korda def. Angel Yin 3 and 2

Two Solheim Cup teammates faced off in match four as Yin and Korda went head-to-head in search of a semifinal berth in Las Vegas. Korda threw the first punch, making birdie on the par-4 2nd hole to go 1 up early, but Yin squared the match with a birdie of her own on the par-5 4th hole. Korda then moved two ahead after winning back-to-back holes on Nos. 6 and 7, and that was the way things stayed until the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 won another hole, parring the 12th to go 3 up on Yin. The Buick LPGA Shanghai winner made an attempt at a late rally, winning the par-4 15th hole with a birdie to get back to 2 down, but Korda dashed Yin’s hopes with a birdie on the par-5 16th hole to end the match 3 and 2, advancing to the Saturday afternoon semifinals.

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The 36-hole cut at the Masters is different than any other major championship. The 89-man field will be cut to the low 50 and ties after 36 holes is completed.

Thursday’s first round was suspended due to darkness after the start of play was delayed more than two hours by morning storms. The second round is expected to begin on schedule at 8 a.m., however.

The cut was first instituted in 1957, 23 years after the Masters began. The field was cut to the low 40 and ties from 1957-61, but the cut changed the next year with the institution of the 10-shot rule. From 1962-2012, the field was cut to the low 44 and ties, as well as anyone within 10 strokes of the leader.

Over the following seven years, the 36-hole cut was expanded to the low 50 and ties, as well as anyone within 10 strokes of the leader. The 10-shot rule was done away with in 2020, however, and now the low 50 and ties qualify for the final 36 holes at the Masters.

Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to experience major closures over the weekend, detour maps provided by DOT

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The New York City Department of Transportation is urging drivers to avoid the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway over the weekend due to major planned closures caused by repair work.

The entire Queens-bound BQE will be closed between Atlantic Avenue and Sands Street from 2 a.m. Saturday through 4 a.m. Monday, the DOT said.

The repairs are building on successful repairs made in October 2023. They focus on adding new concrete and reinforcing steel bars near Clark Street and Grace Court.

A final round of repairs is expected June 1 through June 3, officials said.

“Just as we did successfully last fall, we continue to deliver critical repairs to the BQE to preserve its lifespan while minimizing the impact on the local community,” DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez said. “I encourage all New Yorkers to avoid the BQE in Brooklyn this weekend and to take mass transit.”

A full list of ramp closures associated with the weekend repairs is below:

• 6th Avenue at 65th Street Entrance Ramp

• Prospect Expressway Entrance Ramp

• Hamilton Avenue Entrance Ramp

• Atlantic Avenue Entrance Ramp

• Cadman Plaza Exit Ramp

• Manhattan Bridge Exit Ramp

The DOT provided detour maps to aid motorists over the weekend. Written detour instructions are available at the DOT website here .
