Several modifications have been made after October 2022 due to the Dubai government's implementation of an improved visa system.

Standardised Overstay Fine

According to a recent statement from the Dubai ICP, the normal fine for overstaying is 50 AED per day. Overstaying fines are imposed when a visa holder stays past the permitted amount of time or the visa's expiration date. Depending on the type of visa, your overstaying fees will accumulate once the grace period or expiration date has elapsed.

60-day Visa

On October 3, 2022, the ICP introduced the 60-day visit visa when the updated rules were enacted. Visitors can stay in Dubai for up to two months with this visa, according to immigration.

Increase in ICP

The cost of all services, including Emirates IDs, visit visas, and resident visas, has increased by AED 100, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP).

Exit Permit When Leaving from Dubai

To leave Dubai by plane, you must get a departure permit, which costs 200–300 AED and is available at the Al Awir immigration office, the immigration desk at the airport, or the land border.

Dubai is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, attracting millions of visitors each year. The city has something to offer everyone, from luxury experiences, adventure sports, family-friendly attractions, and vibrant nightlife. Despite its modernity, Dubai has retained its cultural heritage and is home to several museums showcasing the history and culture of Dubai. Additionally, it is home to some of the most iconic landmarks in the world, which is why we have compiled a list of some things you can do to make your Dubai visa from Germany even more worthwhile.

Dubai Visa from Germany

1. Swim with sharks at Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo Dubai Aquarium, located on the main floor of the huge Dubai Mall, features a 10-million-litre water tank filled with over 33,000 unique aquatic animals, including one of the world's largest crocodiles. Observe marine species of all sizes from the tunnel's bottom surface, which is 11 metres high and 48 metres long. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the underwater observatory with the Researcher Experience, or combine it with a glass-bottom boat excursion with the Explorer Experience. If you're courageous enough, you can feed and even swim with rays and sharks and say hello to one of the most dangerous sea critters - safely within a dive cage.

2. Hold on for dear life with a 4×4 dune bashing adventure in a desert safari If you're looking for something thrilling and daring that you can't find at home, look no further. Strap yourself into a 4x4 and let the driver roar up, down, and around the dunes at breakneck speed. Mix that with a slow-paced camel ride, dune bashing, and sandboarding. Finish the day in a more relaxed manner by indulging in a scrumptious BBQ buffet and cold beverages. Traditional Bedouin activities such as belly dancing, fire dancing, and falconry can be experienced and participated in.

3. Spend an afternoon at the kid-friendly OliOli® The interactive OliOli Museum blends fun and education, exciting the senses through a plethora of innovative, child-focused activities and games. In this colourful and instructive environment, kids can build, create, play, and experiment in this family-friendly attraction. They can safely explore, swing, and bounce at the massive Toshi's Net. Kids may learn engineering and physics concepts in a fascinating and hands-on way at The Water Gallery. They can construct hurricane-proof rockets and hovercrafts or explore Future Park's limitless construction opportunities. The toddlers' gallery is equipped to handle smaller youngsters as well. The staff is constantly on hand to keep the youngsters entertained, giving the parents a chance to relax and enjoy a well-earned rest.

4. Walk on a cracking glass floor at Burj Khalifa Climb 830 meters (2,723 feet) to the top of the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, Dubai's architectural masterpiece. The construction of this 160-story glass-clad tower cost $1.5 billion, and it has since drawn millions of tourists, particularly to the observation decks on levels 124 and 125, as well as the outdoor patio on the 148th floor. The latest feature on the 125th level is a nerve-wracking virtual reality experience that involves walking on a glass floor that cracks with every step. Sensors power this lifelike simulation; you are merely walking on high-resolution panels. However, be aware, as this is not for the faint of heart!

5. Illuminate the night at Dubai Garden Glow The imaginative and immersive Dubai Garden Glow in Zabeel Park is a visual treat and the first of its kind in the Middle East. This glow park has over a million LED lights and four distinct themes: magic, art, ice, and dinosaurs. The extensive collection of one-of-a-kind, magical light sculptures is unmatched. Artists have produced enormous shimmering jellyfish, seductive love tunnels, and even a vicious T-Rex.

6. Spot colourful fish at The Lost Chambers Aquarium Fly in a hot air balloon over the brilliantly orange desert of Dubai at daybreak for a calming and thrilling experience. Flights offer birds-eye-views of the desert, so watch for camels and gazelles grazing the sands—but you may have to squint at 4,000 feet. Dubai Desert Conservation Area, the last of the nation's desert wilderness, is home to threatened species, including the Arabian leopard and Arabian oryx. The Giant Long-horned Beetle, one of the biggest beetles in the world, lives there, as do hedgehogs, bats, and vipers.

7. Soar above the desert in a hot air balloon Fly in a hot air balloon over the brilliantly orange desert of Dubai at daybreak for an experience that is both calming and thrilling. Flights offer birds-eye-views of the desert, so keep an eye out for camels and gazelles grazing the sands—but you may have to squint at 4,000 feet. Dubai Desert Conservation Area, the last of the nation's desert wilderness, is home to threatened species including the Arabian leopard and Arabian oryx. The Giant Long-horned Beetle, one of the biggest beetles in the world, lives there,as do hedgehogs, bats, and vipers.

One and Only the Palm

2. One and Only the Palm The Palm is a private haven on the Palm Jumeirah and is ideal for a trip with your special someone. The elegant Andalusian architecture, with its fine carvings, colonnaded walkways, and flickering lanterns around the landscaped gardens, reminds Grenada's Alhambra. The guest rooms, which start at 700 square feet, are among the largest in Dubai and come with spacious marble bathrooms and sea view terraces. The private pool apartments, which are only a few steps from the sand, are ideal for couples, while families will feel perfectly at home in the two-bedroom beachfront villas.

Relax all day by the sapphire pool, which has air-conditioned cabanas with minibars, sunbeds, and indoor/outdoor showers.

Mandarin Oriental Dubai

3. Mandarin Oriental Dubai There are several beachfront hotels in Dubai, but few can rival the Mandarin Oriental, which debuted in 2019 on a private stretch of Jumeirah, for glitz and location. The hotel is brand-new and gleaming, and the lobby is lined with rows of towering bronze trees with crystal lights in the shapes of leaves, creating a sparkling fairy forest that leads to the beach. One of the six restaurants in the hotel, Tasca, is run by José Avillez, a Portuguese chef who formerly worked at Lisbon's Belcanto restaurant, which has two Michelin stars.

The St. Regis Downtown, Dubai

4. The St. Regis Downtown, Dubai The St. Regis Downtown, situated on the vast Dubai Water Canal, mixes the spirit of its New York sister hotel with the best that the city's up-and-coming Downtown financial area has to offer. From the Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure in the world, to the Dubai Mall, the largest retail mall in the world, every famous monument is conveniently located nearby. Inside, a Middle Eastern perspective gives the design a traditional feel. The rooms are large and have floor-to-ceiling windows with views of either the Burj Khalifa or the Dubai Water Canal—both excellent choices—and access to the renowned St. Regis butler service. The hotel also boasts the region's first St. Regis Spa, which is impressively dispersed throughout six therapeutic suites and a Hammam. Since we are in Dubai, signature services include a detoxifying 24-carat gold facial, floating pod therapy, and a traditional Moroccan Hammam.

XVA Art Hotel

5. XVA Art Hotel This lovely hideaway is one of Old Dubai's cultural gems, tucked away among the picturesque lanes of the Al Fahidi Heritage District. The 15-room boutique hotel, once the residence of a famous merchant family, is located inside a traditional Emirati villa with sandy-toned stucco and towering wind towers, the region's first form of air conditioning.

The Bedouin-inspired textiles and original artwork created by local artisans on exhibit in the art gallery, gift store, and uniquely designed guest rooms are further ways that Dubai's heritage is highlighted. The XVA Café, a courtyard shaded by vines serving vegetarian Middle Eastern food in the centre of the hotel, is a must-try in the summer. The souks of Old Dubai are just waiting to be discovered beyond the hotel's ornately carved wooden doors. For a genuine and unforgettable experience, traverse Dubai Creek in a traditional wooden boat or abra.

Whether you're craving a classic burger or a slice of cheesecake, Dubai offers a variety of options to pick from. It doesn’t matter if you are in the mood for a five-star four course meal or a juicy meatloaf, the city’s portfolio of restaurants will leave you wishing you had an eating capacity to match it. European Union adopts more favourable Schengen visa rules for Indians

Indian Nationals can now apply for a multiple entry Schengen visa with longer validity

On 18 April 2024, the European Commission adopted specific rules on the issuing of multiple entry visas to Indian nationals, which are more favourable than the standard rules of the Visa Code that applied to date. This new visa ‘cascade’ regime for Indian nationals residing in India who apply for Schengen (short-stay) visas in India will provide easier access to visas with multi-year validity for travellers with an established travel history, if the passport validity allows.

According to the newly adopted visa “cascade” regime for India, Indian nationals can now be issued long-term, multi-entry Schengen visas valid for two years after having obtained and lawfully used two visas within the previous three years. The two-year visa will normally be followed by a five-year visa, if the passport has sufficient validity remaining. During the validity period of these visas, holders enjoy travel rights equivalent to visa-free nationals.

This decision comes in the context of strengthened relations under the EU-India Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility, which seeks comprehensive cooperation on migration policy between the EU and India, with facilitation of people-to-people contacts being of key aspect due to the importance of India as a partner for the EU.

Schengen visas allow the holder to travel freely in the Schengen area for short stays of a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period. The visas are not purpose-bound, but they do not grant the right to work. The Schengen area consists of 29 European countries (of which 25 are EU states): Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden, along with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
