How to Accomplish eTRAVEL Form for Philippine Departure and Arrival

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double check with the authorities or other concerned entities for the latest updates.

WHAT'S COVERED IN THIS GUIDE?

What is eTravel?

The eTravel form is an online form used to collect personal and travel information from passengers entering and exiting the Philippines for the purpose of immigration, border control, data analysis, and health surveillance. It serves as your departure/arrival card, health declaration, and contact tracing form.

ETravel Gov PH Website

It was first implemented at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce physical contact between the passengers and airport personnel, replacing the traditional paper departure cards. Today, no more pandemic, but it has remained in use.

Who are required to accomplish the eTravel form?

Most travelers are required to complete and submit the form, including the following:

  • arriving Filipinos and foreign nationals
  • departing Filipinos

Adults and children alike falling under these two categories must submit an eTravel form. That covers most travelers.

I say “most” because, as you can see, it does not include departing foreigners. The following are also exempted from submitting eTravel:

  • foreign diplomats and dependents
  • foreign dignitaries and members of delegation
  • 9(e) visa holders
  • holders of diplomatic and official/service passport

The eTravel form must be completed and submitted as early as 72 hours (3 days) before your departure from the Philippines or expected arrival time in the Philippines.

If you’re traveling with family, you can also complete this form on behalf of your family members.

How to Create an eTravel Account

Whether you’re outbound or inbound traveler, the first step is to create an account, if you don’t have one yet. You can do so in two ways:

  • the official eTravel website: etravel.gov.ph
  • the official eGovPH app: Android , iOS (Apple)

If you have traveled internationally and submitted an eTravel form before 2024, it doesn’t mean that you automatically have an account. Prior to 2024, creating an account was not a requirement. One could simply accomplish the form and submit without having to sign up for an account. However, in early 2024, this has become mandatory. Don’t worry. It does feel like a lot of work in the beginning, but it will make your subsequent submissions a breeze because, unlike before, the system is now able to save your personal details and automatically fill in some of the fields with pre-saved data.

If you don’t have an account yet, here’s how:

ETravel Create Account 1

  • Visit the etravel.gov.ph/authentication . This is the official sign-up page. Make sure you’re on the right website.
  • Enter a valid email address. Make sure it’s correct because the system will be sending a one-time password (OTP) to this email address.
  • Enter the OTP. Check your email to retrieve it. It should have 6 digits.
  • Create a password. The password must have at least 8 characters, with at least one uppercase and one lowercase letter. Re-enter your password to confirm.
  • Enter your personal information. The system will ask for the following: – Full name – Sex – Birth date – Mobile number – Citizenship – Country of birth – Passport number Tap NEXT.

eTravel PH Create Account

  • Enter your residential address. Click NEXT after.
  • Review all the information you entered. The system will show you a summary of your details. If every thing is correct, hit SUBMIT.

That’s it! You now have an eTravel account!

Using this account, you can register a trip for yourself and even family members.

Now, it’s time to register your trip.

How to Accomplish eTravel for DEPARTING Passengers

Now that you have an account, all you need to do is register your upcoming trip. Every time you do so, you’ll be asked if you’re completing the form for yourself or for a family member. (Yes, you can submit a form on their behalf.) You’ll also be asked if it’s for ARRIVAL or DEPARTURE.

This section is for DEPARTURE , i.e. for those flying OUT of the Philippines. This applies to all Filipino passengers and crewmembers. Foreign nationals departing the Philippines do not need to register their departure trip.

Here’s how to register a departure trip:

eTravel Departure

  • Select whether you’re accomplishing the form for yourself or a family member. You should also select whether you’re traveling by air or by sea. Let’s assume you’re flying, so choose AIR.
  • Choose DEPARTURE (Leaving the Philippines). Make sure you select the right one! Then click CONTINUE.
  • Enter your travel details, including the following: – Your occupation . Select the industry closest to yours) – Purpose of travel . Just pick what applies to you.. – Traveler type . Choose AIRCRAFT PASSENGER. – Destination country and address . If you’re staying at a hotel, enter your hotel’s address. If flying out of Manila, choose NINOY AQUINO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MNL). But make sure you pick the right terminal, too. – Seat number (optional) Click NEXT.
  • Review your details. You’ll be shown a summary of all the info you entered. Make sure everything is correct. If so, click SUBMIT.
  • Save or take a screenshot of your eTravel QR code. This will also be sent to the email address you used.

That’s it! All your information will also be sent to the Immigration Officer’s database. In most cases, they won’t even ask to see your QR code because they can already see it on their screen as you clear Immigration Check.

How to Accomplish eTravel for ARRIVING Passengers

Assuming you already have an eTravel account, you only need to register your trip. For ARRIVAL registration, all passengers — Filipinos and foreigners alike — must complete and submit an ARRIVAL eTravel form. Just follow these steps.

eTravel Arrival

  • Choose ARRIVAL (Entering the Philippines). Make sure you select the right one! Then click CONTINUE.
  • Enter your travel details, including the following: – Your occupation. Select the industry closest to yours) – Purpose of travel. If you live in the Philippines and you just went abroad for business or holiday, choose RETURNING RESIDENT. • Fill out the Health Declaration Form. Enter all the countries you have visited within the past 30 days. You’ll also be asked if you have been sick, have experienced symptoms, or have been exposed to someone with symptoms within the past 30 days. After answering all the items, click NEXT.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I want to change something after generating the qr code. how to correct it.

You can still edit your info if you noticed a typo error or you entered wrong data. However, note that you can only do this BEFORE it gets validated or verified by the BOQ officer upon your arrival sa Pilipinas. Ensure that you make your corrections before your flight to the Philippines.

To do this, just go to the main page or home page of eTravel, then click the UPDATE REGISTRATION button. Provide your reference number or transaction number and birth date.

At what point of the airport process should I present the QR code?

In most cases, you won’t be asked to present this at any point. But it doesn’t mean you can skip it. The Immigration Officer can see on their screens if you’ve accomplished this form.

  • If they see that you have, they usually won’t ask for it.
  • If they can’t find your eTravel for this trip, they will ask you to step aside and accomplish one at the tablet station nearby.

Do I have to pay for eTravel QR Code? How much is the charge?

No, you don’t need to pay anything for the eTravel QR Code. It is FREE of charge. If you landed on a website requiring you to pay for the service, it’s definitely a scam.

I’m traveling with family. Does every one of us need to accomplish eTravel?

YES and NO. YES, every member of the family on your trip must have an eTravel record, but not everyone needs to create an account. One member can create an account and then they can register all the accompanying family members under that one account. I’ve done it myself for my mother and sister on our most recent trip, and we didn’t encounter any problem.

Note that this does not apply to friends, colleagues, or romantic partners. If you’re not family, each of you must create an account.

Is there a Tagalog version of this article?

We will be publishing a Tagalog video version of this on our YouTube channel .

Do I still need to accomplish One Health Pass and eArrival Card?

No need. The eTravel has officially replaced the now obsolete One Health Pass and eArrival Card starting 2 December 2022.

To be honest, all these systems are very similar. The changes are not too drastic. Some items were removed such as the Philhealth Number, and then some required items are now optional. The noticeable difference is not really the content but the appearance or the user interface.

Why do I need to register to the eTravel?

Starting 01 September 2021, all incoming travelers to the Philippines are advised to use the eTravel registration system as mandated by IATF Resolution No. 135 dated 26 August 2021.

What is the official website of the eTravel?

The https://etravel.gov.ph/ is the ONLY OFFICIAL registration website for all international inbound travelers to the Philippines.

Do I need to pay for the registration of eTravel?

eTravel registration is FREE OF CHARGE and does not collect or require any form of online payment. BEWARE of fake, fraudulent, or scam websites and entities which require payment upon registration.

Do I need to download an application to use the eTravel?

No. eTravel is an information system that is mobile responsive, and a web based online platform. To use the eTravel, all you need is a smartphone or tablet or laptop or personal computer. You can open the eTravel using a mobile or computer internet browser.

Do I need an internet connection to use the eTravel?

Yes. eTravel is an online platform and therefore can only be used when you have an internet access. It is highly recommended to use eTravel while you have good and stable internet connection.

Can I register few days before the flight (before I travel)?

Yes. You may only register within 3 days (or 72 hours) prior to your arrival in the Philippines. Travelers are enjoined to present their proof of valid eTravel registration prior to flight boarding. It is important that your recent declaration of health condition is within 72 hours before arrival.

Is all information asked in the eTravel relevant to Health Declaration Checklist requirement?

Yes. Although some questions were added so that the system can determine your category based on the IATF requirements such as age, traveler classification, itinerary, etc. so you can be categorized and easily assisted/guided by the health border authorities when you arrive at the airport or seaport.

What is eHDC?

It stands for "electronic Health Declaration Card". This is the same yellow paper form which was previously used to be filled out manually by all arriving travelers in the Philippines and submitted to BOQ upon arrival. Instead of this, the eTravel replaces it digitally and your proof of registration and submission is the QR Code form that you receive upon successful registration with the eTravel.

What is the difference between the Green QR Code and Red QR Code of eTravel?

The GREEN QR Code is issued by the eTravel system when your submission of the required information and attachments are complete and complies with the IATF latest entry protocols ( IATF Resolution No. 2, s. 2022 ) . On the other hand, you will be issued a Reg QR Code in case you have missing requirements and you will be interviewed upon arrival at the airport by a BOQ personnel to manually verify and determine if you will be required to undergo facility-based quarantine and RT-PCR Testing.

What do I need to do after I register?

Take a screenshot or Download of your personal QR Code before closing or exiting the eTravel webiste or application. You will be required to show this QR code to an airline representative before being allowed to board your flight. Upon arrival in the Philippines, you must present this QR code to the BOQ Quarantine officers for verification.

What happens if I have a QR Code issued upon successful registration with eTravel?

If you received a QR Code upon registration with eTravel, you are pre-qualified for the express lane upon your arrival at the airport/seaport. This means that there’s no need to show the other documents to the Quarantine Officer. However, the data are still reviewed and verified by the BOQ before your actual arrival at the airport in case you have submitted wrongful information and/or the supporting documents you have submitted or uploaded, such as the vaccination or COVID-19 test, is incomplete or incorrect, you will be flagged by the BOQ and may still be required to undergo manual verification upon arrival. Therefore, ensure that you have properly filled out your information and submitted the correct document.

What happens if I have a Red QR Code issued upon successful registration with eTravel?

You will be manually verified by the Quarantine Officers and determine if you are compliant with the entry protocol set by the Philippine Government. It is necessary to show the specific documents which will be asked from you by the officer.

What is “Express Lane”?

Express lane has been included in the eTravel process to provide further convenience to the health protocol compliant international inbound travelers. When you are issued a Green QR Code and the information and supporting documents you have submitted during online registration has been approved, you are qualified in the express lane where your Green QR Code will be scanned and tagged for your arrival date and time. There may be no further interview or need for submission of any documents.

What is Manual Process?

Manual process is required for travelers issued with a Red QR Code. This is to verify and determine if you are compliant with the health protocol requirements of entering the Philippines. This also happens when your submitted information or uploaded documents needed evaluation upon arrival.

Does it automatically mean that I will be quarantined if I am manually processed upon arrival by BOQ?

No. If BOQ is able to verify your information and found you to be compliant based on the entry requirements, you will be advised to proceed to Immigration without the need for facility-based quarantine.

Can I print my eTravel personal QR code instead of screenshot?

Yes. You can print this for presentation at airport/seaport of origin and upon arrival in the Philippines. Yet again, for your convenience, you may as well take a screenshot or click download to save your eTravel personal QR code in your smartphone for presentation at the airport/seaport and upon arrival in the Philippines.

I lost the screenshot of my personal QR Code, what do I do?

If you registered within 72 hours prior to your arrival to the Philippines, you may retrieve your personal QR Code and view some of your details using the "Edit Registration” tab in the eTravel website. To open my profile, go to the eTravel etravel.gov.ph/search and enter your reference number and date of birth then press the CONTINUE button as shown in the blue box below.

I made a mistake. Can I still edit my information after I have successfully registered?

For as long as you have not been processed, verified, and tagged as arrived by the border health authorities (BOQ) in the eTravel you may still change some of your information in the eTravel through the “Edit Registration” tab in the eTravel website. You will not be able to edit your data once you have arrived, verified and tagged as arrived by the Quarantine Officer. The editable information are mainly the data that is needed during the issuance of your quarantine certificate (i.e. arrival date, address, other personal info).

I have registered more than once in the eTravel for my travel, which QR code should I use?

You may use either of the QR Code but you should only choose one to present upon your arrival. Only the verified QR Code by BOQ upon your arrival at the airport/seaport is valid for your travel. Presenting different QR code during the process may cause delay or inconvenience for you.

Why can I not use the same QR Code next flight?

In compliance with the Republic Act No. 10173 (otherwise known as the “Data Privacy Act”), all sensitive personal information is immediately deleted from the eTravel database after you have been completely processed based on the quarantine and health protocol set by the Government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and for disease surveillance and response. Your personal eTravel QR Code is therefore issued per transaction in the system and new registration is required for each travel.

How many days is the quarantine period?

1. FULLY VACCINATED- 7 days 2. PARTIALLY/UNVACCINATED- 10 days

What if the result of my COVID-19 RT-PCR is positive?

You will receive a call from the BOQ Operation Center to give instructions on your isolation procedure.

Which COVID-19 laboratory will test me?

There are twelve (12) accredited laboratories for testing of international inbound traveler to ensure service level agreement. These laboratories are required to visit and conduct testing at your quarantine hotels and are mandated to release the result within 24 hours from the time of testing. Here are the list of laboratories: 1. AL MOLECULAR DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY 2. CHINESE GENERAL HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL CENTER 3. DETOXICARE MOLECULAR DIAGNOSTICS LABORATORY 4. FIRSTAIDE DIAGNOSTIC CENTER 5. INTRAMUROS MOLECULAR LABORATORY 6. JT CENICA MEDICAL HEALTH SYSTEM 7. KAIROS DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY 8. PHILIPPINE AIRPORT DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY 9. PHILIPPINE RED CROSS 10. SAFEGUARD DNA DIAGNOSTICS LABORATORY 11. THE LORDS GRACE MEDICAL AND INDUSTRIAL CLINIC

Can I select which laboratory I will be tested?

Yes, but you may only choose from the list of accredited laboratories. You can select the laboratory when you are processed by the BOQ at the airport/seaport of your arrival. You will be asked by BOQ to choose from the list your preferred laboratory.

What will I present as proof that I have completed the quarantine requirement?

You will need the BOQ Quarantine Certificate as proof of your quarantine completion. You will not be allowed by the Hotel to check out unless you are able to show valid Quarantine Certificate from BOQ.

How do I get the BOQ Quarantine Certificate?

You are only able to get the BOQ Quarantine Certificate if you have been tested by an accredited COVID-19 laboratory and you are found NEGATIVE from COVID-19. BOQ Quarantine Certificate will be issued by the BOQ Medical Team in charge at the isolation facility. Your Quarantine Certificate will only be available if your test is NEGATIVE.

eTravel Facts

1: introduction to etravel.

In recent years, the concept of eTravel has emerged as a groundbreaking solution, fundamentally transforming the landscape of international travel. This innovative approach, leveraging the power of digital technology, has streamlined the once cumbersome processes associated with travel, particularly in the realm of immigration, registration, and health declarations. The advent of eTravel marks a significant shift towards a more efficient, secure, and user-friendly travel experience, underpinned by the integration of advanced online systems and electronic documentation.

At the heart of eTravel lies the eTravel registration system, a digital platform designed to simplify the myriad steps involved in planning and executing international journeys. This system, which typically requires travelers to complete an online form, has drastically reduced the time and effort needed for travel preparation. In just a few minutes, travelers can input their personal and travel details, including passport information and health details, into a secure online application, setting the stage for a seamless travel experience.

One of the most notable innovations of eTravel is the eTravel QR code. This digital code, generated upon the completion of the eTravel registration process, serves as a compact, convenient, and secure means of storing and presenting essential travel information. The QR code, easily accessible on a traveler’s mobile device, can be quickly scanned at various checkpoints, thereby expediting the immigration process and the overall arrival process at the destination. The eArrival card functioned as an online health declaration and contact tracing platform, facilitating the transit of foreign passengers from their country of origin to their destination’s Local Government Unit (LGU) in the Philippines.

Beginning December 1, 2022, the Philippine government replaced the eArrival card with a new e-Travel registration. The goal of e-Travel registration will be similar to that of the eArrival card, but it will require less information, be easier to complete, and have an intuitive interface. The former eArrival card registration page will be available and approved just during a brief transition period.

Benefits of eTravel Card Registration

There are many benefits to registering your e-Travel card. First and foremost, it will make your travel experience easier. Upon arrival at the airport in the Philippines, you will no longer have to fill out an immigration form or queue up at a desk. Instead, you simply hand over your passport and receipt for payment of fees (if any). Read on to learn more about how you can benefit from registering your e-Travel card.

Convenience

The eTravel registration is incredibly convenient for both travelers and travel authorities.

This saves time and effort, allowing travelers to relax during the trip instead of worrying about the registration process. Additionally, travel authorities can quickly and easily access traveler health information, allowing them to provide more efficient assistance.

Cost Savings

The eTravel registration can also help to save money. By eliminating the need for paper forms and manual data entry, eTravel registration reduces administrative costs associated with registering travelers.

Additionally, eTravel registration can help reduce medical care costs by streamlining the registration process and allowing the medical staff at travel entry/exit points to focus on providing the necessary assistance and guidance to passengers instead of worrying about paperwork.

Improved Accuracy

The eTravel registration also helps to improve accuracy. By eliminating manual data entry, online health travel registration reduces the chance of errors in patient information.

Additionally, the eTravel registration allows for real-time updates to traveler information, ensuring that travel authorities have access to the most up-to-date information. This helps to ensure that travelers receive the best possible support and guidance on their journey.

Increased Security

The eTravel registration also offers increased security for both travelers and local authorities. Using secure encryption technology, eTravel registration ensures that patient information is kept safe and secure.

Additionally, online health travel registration allows healthcare providers to access patient information without worrying about unauthorized access or data breaches.

Streamlined Communication

Online health travel registration also helps to streamline communication between travelers and travel authorities. By allowing travelers to provide their medical information easily and coordinate with travel authorities, eTravel registration helps to ensure that travelers receive timely response and guidance from travel authorities.

Additionally, the eTravel registration allows travel authorities to quickly and easily communicate with travelers, helping to ensure that they receive timely updates on their health status.

Who should apply for an eTravel Card?

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has mandated that all travelers entering the country complete an eTravel registration.

eTravel Card registration

eTravel is an online platform and information system that is web-based and responsive to mobile devices. To utilize eTravel, all you need is a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet, a laptop, or a desktop computer. You can access the eTravel platform via the web browser on your mobile device or personal computer.

When to register

Individual eTravel registration applications must be submitted a minimum of 72 hours before an inbound traveler enters the Philippines. This requirement applies to all inbound travelers, regardless of nationality or place of origin, including infants and children.

It is extremely important that the eTravel registration form be completed in its entirety since you will be asked to produce proof of registration in order to board the aircraft.

Process for eTravel Card Registration

Registering on the eTravel platform is simple. Here are a few steps you can follow:

Step 1 : Go to the eTravel registration website .

Step 2: Choose either “Philippine passport holder” or “Foreign passport holder” based on your nationality.

Step 3: Enter your trip details and email address, then hit “Continue.”

Step 4: Fill out your registration form by providing your personal information and signing a health declaration form.

That’s it! Simple, right? After you have successfully registered for the eTravel Card, your QR Code will be sent to you. You can download or take a snapshot of this QR Code before exiting or closing the eTravel application or website. You will then be required to present this code to the airline representative before boarding the plane.

Green QR Code

Once you have submitted all required information and files, the eTravel system will generate a Green QR Code for you. When you are given a Green QR Code and your online registration information and associated documents are authenticated, you will be able to use the airport’s “Express Lane,” where your Green QR Code will be scanned and tagged with your arrival date and time. There could be no additional interviews or document submissions.

Red QR Code

If you are lacking prerequisites, you will be issued a Red QR Code and will be interrogated by Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) workers upon arrival at the airport to manually verify and determine if you are required to undergo facility-based quarantine and RT-PCR Testing.

Cost for eTravel Card

Unlike other travel registration sites, eTravel does not require a payment method. It is free of charge, and you can register without any form of payment. Be wary of websites that claim to be legitimate, but require payment in order to operate.

10. Do I need to download and APP to use the eTravel?

The eTravel is a web-based platform that is mobile-friendly. It can be accessed through a smartphone or tablet or a computer. You can open it using a browser that’s compatible with mobile devices.

eTravel is an online platform that can only be used if you have a stable internet connection. It is recommended to use it while you have such a connection.

12. Can I register few days before the flight (before I travel)?

You can only register for eTravel within three days prior to your trip to the Philippines. Those who have already submitted their proof of registration must present it at the airport. Their recent health condition must also be declared within 72 hours before they can board the plane.

13. Is all information asked in the eTravel relevant to Health Declaration Checklist requirement?

Some of the questions that were added to the system were designed to help the authorities determine which category you should be in, based on the requirements of the IATF. This will allow you to easily navigate through the various categories and be assisted by the health border authorities.

14. What is eHDC?

The Electronic Health Declaration Card is a type of card that’s used by all travelers in the Philippines to present their health information to BOQ. This form was previously filled out manually by the travelers. With the eTravel, instead of using a yellow paper form, you will receive a QR Code form after your registration has been successful.

15. What is the difference between the Green QR Code and Red QR Code of eTravel?

The eTravel system will issue a Greeb QR Code if your submission of the necessary information and attachments is complete and compliant with the IATF’s latest entry protocols.

On the other hand, if you have any missing requirements, you will be issued a Reg QR Code upon reaching the airport. A BOQ representative will then check if you have to undergo RT-PCR or quarantine testing.

16. What do I need to do after I register?

Before you can exit or close the eTravel application or webiste, take a quick look at your QR Code. This will allow the airline representative to confirm that you are a legitimate user and allow you to board the plane. You must then present this code to the BOQ Quarantine officials upon reaching the Philippines.

17. What happens if I have a QR Code issued upon successful registration with eTravel?

Upon registering for eTravel, you will automatically be considered for the express lane upon your airport or seaport arrival.

This means that the Quarantine Officer no longer has to show other documents to you. However, they still check and verify the data that you have submitted to the BOQ in case there are discrepancies or incorrect information. If you have submitted documents that are incomplete or incorrect, such as the COVID-19 test or vaccination, you may still be required to go through a manual verification procedure at the airport.

18. What happens if I have a Red QR Code issued upon successful registration with eTravel?

Upon being verified by the Quarantine Officers, you will be asked to provide them with specific documents in order to determine if you are following the entry protocol of the Philippine Government.

19. What is “Express Lane”?

The eTravel process has been designed to make it easier for international travelers to comply with the health protocol requirements of the country they are visiting.

Through the express lane, you can easily identify and confirm your arrival date and time by scanning and tagging your Green QR Code. This feature eliminates the need for you to submit any documents and allows you to leave the airport without further interviews.

20. What is Manual Process?

Travelers with a Red QR Code may be required to undergo a manual process to confirm their health protocol compliance upon entering the Philippines. This step can also be performed upon submission of documents or information.

21. Does it automatically mean that I will be quarantined if I am manually processed upon arrival by BOQ?

If BOQ verifies that you are in compliance with the entry requirements, then you will not need to go through a facility-based quarantine.

22. Can I print my eTravel personal QR code instead of screenshot?

You can print this document for presentation at the airport or seaport of origin or upon your arrival in the Philippines. Just make sure to take a quick Screenshot or download the eTravel app to save your personal QR code.

23. I lost the screenshot of my personal QR Code, what do I do?

You can retrieve your QR Code and other personal details by logging in to the eTravel website. To do so, go to the website’s main page and click on the “My Profile” tab. You can also enter your details, such as your birthdate and reference number.

23. I lost my transaction number; how can I open my profile?

Follow the instructions below to try and find your transaction number. If it’s still valid, you can proceed to your account and receive your email address.

24. I made a mistake. Can I still edit my information after I have successfully registered?

If you have not been verified, processed, and tagged as you were when you entered the eTravel by the border health authorities, you can still change some of your details in the website’s “Open My Profile” section.

However, you will not be able to edit the data that you have collected since you have arrived due to the quarantine officer’s strict requirements. The data that you have collected includes your arrival date, address, and other personal information.

How to Book a Domestic Flight in the Philippines

Booking a domestic flight in the Philippines is a simple process and can be accomplished through a variety of methods. Here are the most common ways to book a domestic flight in the Philippines.

1. Via Airline Website

The majority of airlines operating in the Philippines offer online booking systems on their websites. Here’s a general guide on how to book a domestic flight in the Philippines using these online platforms.

  • Visit the website of the airline you prefer.
  • Select whether you want a one-way or round-trip ticket.
  • Enter your departure city, destination, travel dates, and the number of passengers.
  • Browse through the available flights and select the one that suits you best.
  • Enter passenger details and contact information.
  • Proceed to payment and complete the booking process.

2. Via Airline Mobile Apps

Booking flights with mobile apps is convenient and easy. Simply follow similar steps through the app as mentioned above.

3. Via Travel Agencies

You can book domestic flights through various travel agencies in the Philippines. They can help you find the best deals and provide additional services such as hotel bookings or tour packages. You can find a trustworthy travel agent through word-of-mouth recommendations from friends or family who have used their services before. You can also check online reviews and ratings to get an idea of their reputation in the industry. Take note to choose a licensed and accredited travel agency to ensure that your booking process is smooth and hassle-free.

To book a flight through a travel agency, you can start by browsing their website or contacting them directly to discuss your travel plans. The travel agent will ask you about your preferred travel dates, destinations, and budget, and then provide you with several options that meet your requirements. Once you choose a flight that suits your needs, the travel agent will book it for you and provide you with all the necessary details and information, such as the flight schedule, departure and arrival times, airline and flight number, and any other relevant information.

4. Via Third-Party Booking Websites

There are various third-party websites where you can compare prices from different airlines and book flights, such as Expedia, Traveloka, and Skyscanner. To book a domestic flight ticket using these websites, here’s a general guide to follow.

  • Access the booking page of your preferred third-party booking website.
  • Enter your departure and arrival cities, as well as your preferred travel dates.
  • Choose the number of passengers.
  • Browse through the available flight options and compare prices and schedules. You can filter the results based on your preferences, such as price, departure time, or airline.
  • Once you have found a suitable flight, select it and review the details carefully, including the total price, and flight duration.
  • Enter the required passenger information, including full names, contact information, and passport details.
  • Choose your preferred payment method and enter the necessary payment details.
  • Review your booking details one last time before submitting your payment.
  • Once your payment has been processed, you will receive a confirmation email with your booking details and itinerary.
  • Remember to check your flight status regularly before your departure date and make any necessary changes or cancellations in advance if needed.

5. Via In Person Booking at the Airport

If you prefer, you can also visit the ticketing counters of airlines at major airports in the Philippines to book your flight in person. However, this method may not be as convenient, especially if you’re planning in advance or during peak travel times. Additionally, not all airlines may offer the same service.

Booking a domestic flight via in-person booking at the airport typically follows these steps:

  • Locate the check-in counters or ticketing desks of the airline you wish to fly with. These are usually located in the terminal building.
  • Join the queue at the airline’s ticketing desk. Depending on the time of day and the airport’s traffic, there may be varying wait times.
  • When you reach the front of the queue, approach the airline agent behind the counter. Inform them of your destination, desired travel dates, and any other preferences or requirements you have regarding the flight. The airline agent will check the available flights for your desired route and dates. They will provide you with information on flight times, prices, and seat availability.
  • Based on the options presented to you, choose the flight that best suits your preferences, schedule, and budget.
  • Once you’ve selected a flight, you’ll need to provide the personal information required for booking, including your full name, contact details, and any frequent flyer or membership numbers you may have.
  • After confirming your flight details, you’ll need to pay for your ticket. This can usually be done using cash, credit/debit card, or other accepted forms of payment.
  • Once payment is processed, the airline agent will issue your ticket and provide you with a booking confirmation. This confirmation will include important details such as your flight itinerary, booking reference number, and seat assignment, if applicable.

Klook Philippines boosts initiatives for greater domestic travel

Travel platform Klook Philippines announced that it will push for additional initiatives to facilitate more domestic travel in the country this year to promote local tourism.

Klook said this push is in line with their years-long initiatives to strengthen the country's tourism outlook.

“The Philippines is home to some of the most desirable destinations in the region, and we’d like to play a bigger role in encouraging more Filipinos to discover joy within our home country,” said Klook Philippines and Thailand General Manager Michelle Ho.

To achieve this, the company is aiming to enhance its staycation offerings in big and small accommodations in the country.

In addition, it is also looking to develop domestic businesses to expand its merchant base and offerings by summer this fall year.

“We also hope to empower more local businesses and tour operators by giving them the opportunity to increase the exposure of and expand the markets for their tourism products and services through our platform,” added Ho.

Based on Klook's survey covering April 2023 to mid-February 2024, around 92 percent of respondents said they already have plans to travel domestically this year, compared to the 76 percent who have planned international trips.

Top local destinations in this period include Baguio, Boracay, Batangas, Palawan, and Tagaytay, while overseas travel was booked to Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and Japan.

Domestic flights and accommodations were commonly booked at the same time two to six months in advance. A budget range of P15,000 to P30,000 is also prepared by the majority of respondents for a four to six day trip.

Aside from local tourism, Klook also said that it will venture further into music and sports tourism, citing the overflow of travel bookings to Singapore for fans attending the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concerts just this month. It is also looking at leveraging the Olympic Games 2024  in Paris and World Expo Osaka in 2025 to create and bundle enticing deals for travelers.

Overall, bookings in Klook tripled in 2023, growing four times in revenue between 2022 to 2023, and increasing average basket size by 21 percent.

Popular activities booked were Hong Kong Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland, Universal Studios Japan, and Universal Studios Singapore. Many also availed of transport passes such as Japan Rail Passes and local attractions like the Manila Ocean Park.

“2023 was definitely a great year for tourism recovery, and this growth mirrors a collective yearning to explore and gain new experiences. We’re happy to see that Filipinos have fully embraced the joy of traveling again, and we’re honored to be a partner in making their dream vacations a reality,” shared Ho.
