Fred Olsen releases the first itinerary from its 2023 cruise program

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines unveiled its first look into 2023 with the release of a "North American Waterways and Canadian Fall" itinerary, including the company's maiden cruise on Hudson River (USA's New York state).

The 35-day voyage starts from Southampton UK in September 2023 and visits the Canadian ports Saint John’s (Newfoundland) and Halifax (Nova Scotia). The liner MS Balmoral will then continue for a scenic cruising on Hudson River, Cape Cod Canal, Chesapeake and Delaware Canal in Baltimore.

Vacationers who book by September 30 will enjoy up to GBP 300 per person to spend onboard during the trip.

Clare Ward, Director of Product and Customer Service, said that would be the first time they had sailed to Canada since 2019. He added that particularly exciting would be the opportunity to cruise along the Hudson River in New York, a maiden sailing for them, made possible by the smaller size of Balmoral.

Balmoral’s 34-night L2323 ‘North American Waterways & Canadian Fall’ voyage departs from Southampton UK on September 26, 2023. Prices start from GBP 5300 per person.

Ports of call include Southampton, St John’s NF (overnight stay), Sydney NS , Halifax NS (overnight), Saint John NB , Portland ME , Boston MA , Cape Cod Canal , passing by NYC's Statue of Liberty, NYC New York  (2-night stay), Hudson River, Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, Baltimore MD  (overnight), Transatlantic crossing, Hamilton Bermuda , Ponta Delgada Azores , La Coruna Spain , Southampton UK.

The itinerary follows on from the early release of 2 cruises in 2022: the 17-night ‘Whales, Waterfalls & Volcanic Islands’ sailing, announced in partnership with ORCA in 2019, and the 28-night ‘Black Sea Discovery with the Mediterranean’ voyage introduced last week.

Earlier this month, Fred Olsen announced it will be welcoming a pair of new ships, Bolette and Borealis, into its fleet as the company looked ahead to a return to the water.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Announces 93-Night Cruise in 2023

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has unveiled grand 93-night voyage, the “Intrepid Beauty of Africa and Indian Ocean”  for 2023.

The Bolette, which will set sail from Southampton in November 2023, will depart on an itinerary that has been hand-crafted by Fred Olsen Jr. himself alongside his team of dedicated Journey Planners.

Guests will have the chance to seek out lemurs in Madagascar, spend time with a Dabbawala in Mumbai and walk the Namibian desert aboard Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Grand Voyage in 2023.

Martin Lister, Head of Itinerary Planning and Destination Experience at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said: “It is a cruise that offers countless highlights, and we can’t wait to share these experiences with our guests.

“This sailing is a real adventure, and working closely with Mr Olsen Jnr himself, we have curated this itinerary to allow guests to have real, immersive experiences ashore.”

Guests will enjoy exploring ashore in each of the destinations, including overnight stays in Victoria, Seychelles and Mombasa, Kenya, a two-night stay in Port Louis, Mauritius, plus a three-night extended stay in Cape Town, South Africa, where historical sites such as Signal Hill and Robben Island await.

“Whether that’s visiting the spice plantations or helping Dabawallas deliver tiffin boxes to locals in Mumbai, walking the colossal dunes of the world’s oldest desert in Namib, or taking in the cultures and traditions of destinations away from the beaten tourist track, including in Mozambique, Ghana, Mayotte and Senegal,” Lister said.

The Bolette’s also includes viists to Morocco, Malta, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Tanzania, Madagascar and many other countries
