About Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson is one of the most influential entertainers of the modern era. Her music has won her 5 GRAMMY® Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, a nomination for an Academy Award along with dozens of American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards. She has received accolades as an actress as well including the NAACP Best Supporting Actor award. Janet is a published author, dancer, businessperson, philanthropist and one of biggest-selling artists in popular music history. With sales of over 180 million records worldwide, Janet Jackson stands as one of the best-selling artists of all time with a string of hits that have left an indelible impression on pop culture. She is the record holder for the biggest selling debut tour in history and is the first woman to debut in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 charts. She also stands as one of only four artists to have a #1 album for four successive decades alongside Barbra Streisand, Bruce Springsteen and U2. Even today she continues to make an undeniable impact. In 2018, her last single, “Made for Now” with Daddy Yankee, released by her own Rhythm Nation Records, hit #1 on the Dance Clubs Songs chart making it her 20th single on the chart in the span of her career. In 2019, she was inducted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside her brothers and in that same year her critically acclaimed Las Vegas residency, “Metamorphosis” closed out to record breaking ticket sales with only 18 dates at the Park MGM’s Park Theater. As reported by Billboard Boxscore, the legendary singer, dancer, songwriter, producer, and actress is among the biggest Vegas performers of this decade, ahead of Celine Dion (2011), Britney Spears (2013) and the Backstreet Boys (2017). Her critically acclaimed and award winning documentary “Janet Jackson.” brought in over 20 million viewers in one week.

On February 4, 2021, Janet Jackson’s iconic mega platinum-selling third album Control turned 35. The album also returned to the top of the charts, hitting #1 on the Apple Top 40 US Pop Album chart. Led by five chart-busting hit singles — “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “Control,” “When I Think Of You,” —with their complementary, tightly choreographed music videos — and “Let’s Wait Awhile,” Control became Jackson’s first No. 1 Pop album. The album also made Billboard chart history for having the longest continuous run on the Hot 100 with singles from one album, ultimately tallying a remarkable 65 consecutive weeks from that perch. To date, Control has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.

About Chris “Ludacris” Bridges

The career of the multi-talented CHRIS “LUDACRIS” BRIDGES can best be described as remarkable. As a recording artist, he has sold more than 24 million albums worldwide, thanks to the blockbuster success of such singles as “Stand Up,” “Get Back,” “Southern Hospitality,” “Number One Spot,” “Money Maker” and “My Chick Bad.” All of these records were accompanied by ingenious videos that demonstrated Bridges’ far-reaching imagination, and his willingness to stretch the boundaries of what rap videos should look and feel like.

With an unrivaled match of lyrical acumen, wit, and imagery, Ludacris has solidified himself as one of music’s premier entertainers. His versatility and artistic complexity also enabled him to make a seamless transition to acting, including the fan favorite role of “Tej” in Universal Pictures’ box office phenomenon Fast & Furious franchise where he was introduced for the first time in 2003 in 2 Fast 2 Furious.  He will reprise his role of “Tej” for the seventh time in Fast X, which is set to release May 20, 2023.

His other notable feature film credits include Garry Marshall’s ensemble comedy New Year’s Eve, Ivan Reitman’s romantic comedy, No Strings Attached, Paul Higgin’s Crash which received an Academy Award for Best Picture in 2006 and Hustle & Flow which earned Bridges a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

As a father of four girls, his latest ventures fittingly include launching his educational platform devoted to the enrichment of children called “KidNation”.  In addition, Bridges created the animated series KARMA’S WORLD which launched in the Top 10 in 42 countries on Netflix, received two NAACP Award nominations and is already on its fourth season.  The series for children ages 6-9 is a coming-of-age story about a young Black girl finding her voice and using it to change her world — originally inspired by Chris’s oldest daughter Karma and based on the interactive educational website of the same name created by Karma’s World Entertainment in 2009.

A consummate businessman, Ludacris is enjoying success outside of entertainment. One of his most successful ventures includes opening his long-anticipated restaurant “Chicken-n-Beer” at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport with a new location opening at LAX in 2023.

Bridge’s philanthropic efforts rival his entertainment accomplishments. He started The Ludacris Foundation in 2001 which focuses on helping the youth in his hometown of Atlanta and has partnered with No Kid Hungry and Feeding America.

Janet Jackson Announces ‘Together Again’ 2023 Tour Dates

"Janet Jackson" Lifetime documentary

After teasing a big announcement on her social channels over the weekend, Janet Jackson revealed that she will be going on tour next year, with Ludacris as the opening act. The dates appear below.

She also promises “There will be new music.”

While her longwinded video announcement is short on details (but big on hellos to countries tuning in), the tour will launch on April 14 in Hollywood, Fla. and will hit 22 states before concluding in Seattle on June 21. Pre-sale for the tickets will begin on December 13th on Ticketmaster, and general admission will start on December 16th according to her website.

She also posted a sizzle reel on her socials.

The singer has been more visible in recent months than she has in many years, with an appearance inducting longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in a ceremony held in Los Angeles last month.

She also made headlines with a Lifetime documentary on her life and career , which unpacked the indisputably unfair way she was treated in the wake of her controversial wardrobe malfunction at the 2004 Super Bowl. Jackson’s career suffered in the years that followed, while her co-headliner Justin Timberlake, who actually caused the malfunction, thrived.

The documentary, however, sheds little revealing light on its subject. “Fans will take heart that Jackson is presented here in her best light: That archival footage depicts a talent at the top of her game, and in the present day, she seems serene and happy, with tearful moments punctuating an overall sense of Zen calm,” Variety’s review reads in part. “For now, Jackson remains fascinating but enigmatic — a star about whom we’ll perpetually want to know more. And viewers will have known that before investing the time in a doc that can’t quite figure out its namesake.”

Janet Jackson Shares Dates for 2023 'Together Again' Tour: 'I've Missed You So Much'

The pop icon announced her return to touring on Monday, with Ludacris joining her for 33 stops across North America starting in the Spring

janet jackson tour 2023 together again

Janet Jackson is bringing new meaning to "Together Again!"

The pop icon, 56, announced Monday that she'll be hitting the road for the first time in nearly four years for her Together Again tour this Spring — named in honor of the 25th anniversary of her classic LP The Velvet Rope . The 33-date trip around North America sees Jackson touch down in New York, Los Angeles, Austin, Toronto, and beyond as she's joined by hip-hop heavyweight Ludacris as opening assistance.

"You guys, I miss you so much, I am so excited to see you," Janet said in an Instagram video revealing the news. "You guys have no idea, I've missed you so much, so much, and I can't wait to be with you. I'm so excited."

The tour — which kicks off in Hollywood, Florida on April 14 and closes out in Seattle, WA on June 21 – is Janet's first since her fall 2019 run of shows in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 .

Before that, Jackson played her Metamorphosis Las Vegas residency that summer, and hit the road in promotion of her last studio album, Unbreakable , during the three legs of her State of the World Tour from 2017-2019.

The latest Together Again tour, named after her No. 1 single off 1997's The Velvet Rope , will also mark her 50th anniversary in entertainment and the 30th anniversary of her janet LP, according to a release. Tickets go on sale Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. local time, with a Citi cardmember presale beginning on Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. local time.

Last month, Jackson attended the 37th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in honor of her friends Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who assisted Jackson throughout her career, first on her 1986 LP Control . Together with the production giants, the album spawned five hit singles: "What Have You Done for Me Lately," "Nasty," "When I Think of You," "Control" and "Let's Wait Awhile" — so it only made sense for her to pull up as the duo was inducted.

Elsewhere in Janet's discography, Jam & Lewis teamed up on "Love Will Never Do (Without You)," "That's the Way Love Goes" and "All for You."

Control , which turned 35 in 2021, returned to the top of the Apple Top 40 US Pop Album chart at the time. "I never, never in a million years, I would never think that this would happen. I really appreciate you and I love you so, so much. Thank you," Jackson wrote on Twitter.

As for new music to play on tour, while a release for the tour mentions "new music," the pop legend told Essence in their July/August issue that her focus at the moment was on being a mother. She welcomed son Eissa , 5, in January 2017 with ex-husband Wissam Al Mana.

"Even though it's something that I absolutely love, it still is my work, my job," she said. "There will be music at some point. Exactly when? I can't say just yet, but there will be. I love it too much not to do it. This is all I know. There's so much that I want to do — but my number one job is being a mama."

Janet Jackson is ready to hit the road again.

The musical icon announced dates for her “Together Again” tour next year — her first since 2019.

“You guys, I miss you so much, I am so excited to see you,” she gushed in an Instagram video on Monday about the news.

“You guys have no idea, I’ve missed you so much, so much, and I can’t wait to be with you. I’m so excited.”

The tour will hit 33 cities — including Toronto, Atlantic City, Detroit and Atlanta — across North America beginning on April 14 in Hollywood, Florida.

Rapper Ludacris will be joining her as her opening act and tickets for the show will go on sale starting Dec. 16.

Janet Jackson performs onstage this year.

The tour is named after a song from her 1997 album “The Velvet Rope.”

“The Velvet Rope,” involved themes such same-sex relationships, BDSM, domestic violence and family trauma.

Want to see Janet Jackson live? Her tour calendar with links to buy tickets is here.

“I don’t think [my fans] were expecting it at all because it was completely different from the stuff I had done in the past,” she  told the New Zealand Herald  of the album this past October. “I think it did catch them truly off guard, but … it’s something that I really needed to do for me.”

The LP was a commercial and critical success back in the 1990s, debuting at No. 1 in the US and sold over 4 million copies worldwide.

Janet Jackson performs onstage during the Essence Festival of Culture at the Louisiana Superdome on July 2, 2022 in New Orleans.

The Grammy winner also recently paid tribute to her 1986 “Control” album cover at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony last month.

Jackson channeled her retro look by rocking an all-black Christian Siriano outfit. The “Poetic Justice” actress sported a high-collared black-buttoned jacket and matching wide-leg pants. She even wore a wild and curly hairdo similar to her cover.

Siriano, 37, even called Jackson his “ muse ” earlier this year, telling Page Six: “Janet is the most elegant, chic… these new celebs — don’t even start with me — [Janet] is so lovely, thanking me every day. I’m like, ‘You are Janet Jackson. I will make you anything.’

“She’s so lovely and amazing — to post on Instagram and tag me and support me was just so nice. I dress a lot of people and they don’t always do that,” the “Project Runway” alum added.

Janet Jackson kicked off her highly anticipated Together Again tour this weekend in Florida with an epic, 40-plus-song set list and a guest appearance from “Today” co-host Sheinelle Jones .

The revered performer opened her tour Friday at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Fla., where she sang a number of classic hits including “Control,” “Nasty,” “All for You,” “Scream” and “Rhythm Nation,” according to NME .

She also performed a few songs — such as “Damita Jo,” “Enjoy,” “Girlfriend/Boyfriend,” “Like You Don’t Love Me” and “Do It 2 Me” — live for the first time, NME reported. The show, which features music from her 1993 “Janet” and 1997 “Velvet Rope” albums as well as several other songs from her back catalog, consists of six acts.

‘Sheinelle, don’t get weird’: Janet Jackson bonds with a ‘Today’ host superfan

When Janet Jackson showed up Friday on ‘Today,’ she likely didn’t expect the outpouring of admiration that came from superfan host Sheinelle Jones.

Dec. 16, 2022

During Jackson’s encore performance of “Together Again,”Jones joined her onstage. The “That’s the Way Love Goes” artist extended an invitation for the broadcast journalist to be one of her backup dancers for the day after Jones channeled Jackson for the 2019 Halloween episode of NBC’s “Today” show.

“I would love for you to join me,” Jackson told Jones a few months ago while promoting her tour on the morning program. “You should.”

Fast-forward to this weekend, when Jackson gave Jones a backstage tour and a rare interview reflecting on her life, career and upcoming documentary, which will include footage from the Together Again tour.

“Maybe it’s because I’m not as shy as I used to be,” Jackson said of her decision to document this phase of her journey. “I’m a little bit more open to sharing more in my life than I ever did before.”

The Hollywood Bowl will reopen for a 2021 season after an unprecedented year-long closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Hollywood Bowl 2023 lineup includes Janet Jackson, Culture Club and movies galore

The Los Angeles Philharmonic announced the Hollywood Bowl’s 2023 season lineup on Tuesday, including opening night with Janet Jackson, a Beach Boys fireworks spectacular, a 90th birthday tribute to Quincy Jones and more.

Feb. 7, 2023

After practicing for hours with Jackson’s backup dancers and alone in her hotel room, Jones performed a short routine to the tune of “Together Again” alongside her idol at the Hard Rock Live.

“Last night I kept trying to find the place between being out of my body and trying to stay in my body and actually get on that stage,” Jones said Monday on “Today.”

“When I was in high school, I had pictures of news anchors on one wall, and then I had pictures of Janet Jackson on another ... and when I was in seventh grade, I would make up dances to Janet. And so to be on that stage last night, it was ... surreal.”

Jackson’s Together Again tour encompasses more than 30 cities across the United States and Canada, including five stops in California. The veteran musician is scheduled to come to Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego, Highland and Mountain View in June.

On June 10, Jackson will headline opening night of the Hollywood Bowl’s 2023 season with support from Ludacris and members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s youth orchestra.

Janet Jackson is bold, fierce as she delivers the hits: Best moments of 'Together Again' tour

janet jackson tour 2023 together again

BRISTOW, Va. – All Janet Jackson needs to do is look fierce and snap “gimme a beat,” and everything falls into place.

At the 13 th of the 37 shows of her Together Again tour , Jackson maintained her hallmark precision throughout a nearly two-hour reminiscence of her 40-year career. It is a production choreographed by every definition, with five acts and an encore, 34 songs – though many are carved into medleys – and casual-cool fashion statements.

The 20,000-plus packing every inch of Jiffy Lube Live amphitheater in Northern Virginia on Saturday didn’t seem fazed by the bass-heavy mix that rendered some vocals inaudible. They just wanted to marvel at Jackson, who turns 57 on May 16, as she slithered her hips, squared her shoulders and invited the audience to head-bob along with her.

Here are some highlights from Jackson’s first tour in four years.

Janet Jackson packs the smashes into Act 2

Against a stark white backdrop with swirled black accents, Jackson and her dance troupe rolls through hits from Jackson’s first No. 1 pop album, 1986’s Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis-produced “Control.”

The tour version of “What Have You Done For Me Lately?” offers an incessant bass line that pumps with shades of Madonna’s “Vogue.” Jackson’s dancers reproduce some of the most memorable moves from the song’s video (the backward hand wave still sends a message), while she saves her toughest moves – taut elbow snaps and rapid knee knocks – for “Nasty.”

Though Jackson doesn't talk much throughout the show, she reminds the crowd that “When I Think Of You,” performed with flirty cutesiness, was her first No. 1 hit.

In her black pants and white top with symmetrical black stripes, Jackson grins as she uses a chair as a dance prop during “Control,” which drips with finger-snapping sass.

The second half of Act 2 is dedicated to Jackson’s balladry, and she finally takes a breather and sits while she sings. Her voice – which isn’t often heard too robustly during the show – is light and pretty during “Again.” After holding a long note toward the end of the ballad, Jackson tears up, putting her hand over her eyes as she tries to finish the song. Her emotion seems prompted by her ability to hit the challenging note and the crowd’s rapturous response.

Janet Jackson is performing rarely played songs on tour

The first hint that Jackson’s show is going to span far beyond her dozens of hits comes with the strains of music heard on stage – “Damita Jo,” the title track of her 2004 album that isn’t heralded as often as her MTV-era work.

During Act 3, Jackson mentions that one of the joys of her live performances is the ability to “play songs that I haven’t played on tour before.”

Fans didn’t seem to expect an appearance from “Throb,” a track from her 1993 eponymous album, or a medley that included “Girlfriend/Boyfriend” – Jackson’s 1999 collaboration with Blackstreet – and “Do It 2 Me,” from 2006’s “20 Y.O.” release.

The hip-hop dance track “So Excited,” also from “20 Y.O.” was mostly ignored on radio upon its release but found a home in the clubs. The crowd’s reaction indicates that many fans were hardly unfamiliar with it.

Janet Jackson makes several fashion statements

For her opening act, Jackson opts for a regal look of a gold body suit accented with a purple sash to match her backup dancers. Of course, she wears her patented headset throughout the night and also dons a lengthy high ponytail that bounces with her every step.

When Jackson gets rolling in Act 3 with a fizzy rendition of “All For You,” she bops around the stage, all writhing hips and shuffling feet, in a hot pink jumpsuit accented with green plaid.

And by the Act 4 hit parade that includes “Miss You Much” and "Love Will Never Do (Without You)," Jackson comes down from a raised platform sporting a black hooded cape and a black shirt emblazoned with Rhythm Nation – fitting, since, of course, this is the segment that wraps with “Rhythm Nation,” her sharp-edged social commentary from 1989’s “Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814,” her most formidable album.

Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson is an unshakeable icon — unbreakable , even. The past few years reminded us just how grand her legacy is. In 2019, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and enjoyed her Metamorphosis Las Vegas residency. Last January, the fiercely private star allowed the world into her personal journey with A&E and Lifetime’s Janet Jackson two-part documentary. And in December, she announced her 2023 Together Again Tour .

A 33-date trek across North American arenas/amphitheaters, it kicks off on April 14 in Hollywood, Fla. and follows both 2017’s socially conscious State of the World Tour and her four-month, 18-show 2019 Metamorphosis residency in Las Vegas. With a truly staggering catalog filled with chart-topping albums and singles, it’s difficult to tell what tunes Miss Jackson will choose.

Will she revive her previous ideas from 2020’s Black Diamond World Tour (which was canceled due to the pandemic) or completely scrap them? How will she celebrate this May’s 30th anniversary of her blockbuster fifth album Janet ? Will she forgo her usual offerings of ‘80s classics and replace them with deep cuts? Aside from Ludacris as the opening act, who will be the special guests?

There are many questions as to how she’ll fill up a standard two hours, but we attempt to answer them all below with our dream setlist for the Janet Jackson: Together Again tour — a journey through over three dozen of the pop and R&B legend’s classic tracks, deep cuts, features and collaborations. Now, let’s get to grooving!

“Together Again” (Intro)

To set the tour’s reunion theme, the night will kick off with the twinkling ballad intro of this The Velvet Rope classic, as various clips of Janet Jackson throughout her career play on the screen. But before that familiar uptempo kicks in, the screen’s imagery shatters and distorts to reveal the icon standing on the stage dressed in an avant-garde Rick Owens outfit. Now with the spotlight officially on her, we’re ready to start the show.

The concert has no choice but to kick off with a dance track (this is Janet Jackson, after all). But rather than immediately hopping into the ‘80s classics as most of her tour openers have done, we’ll head into the future with this 2007 electropop jam.

“All Nite (Don’t Stop)”

As the stage lights lower, Janet’s dancers get into formation before the lights quickly begin to flicker to the beat of this bass-driven Damita Jo single. The venue feels like we’re in a club and the concertgoers’ energy is officially rising.

It’s time to throw it back to the classics. Janet switches her structured Rick Owens jacket for a dramatically padded sequined black blazer — a nod to the ‘80s, when her transitional Control album was released — as she says “How are you all feeling? It’s great to be together again!” The audience replies with thrilled shouts as she pops and locks through the song.

“Nasty” / “What Have You Done For Me Lately”

“GIMMIE A BEAT!” The 1986 smash “Nasty” was the hammer that broke Janet’s sweet “girl next door” mold and allowed her to embrace her womanhood, while “What Have You Done For Me Lately” revved up the sass. She embodies a youthful spirit as she swivels her hips and growls the lyrics to these funky classics.

“The Pleasure Principle” / “Miss You Much”

The stage is awash with a vibrant purple hue (another nod to the ‘80s) as Janet’s dancers roll out a large mirror and a few chairs onto the stage for the dance routine. Both of these songs feature iconic chair-eography, which has since inspired everyone from Britney Spears and Mya to Tinashe and Normani. But here, Miss Jackson If Ya Nasty shows the ladies how it’s done.

“Dammn Baby” (Interlude)

At this point, Janet is completely free on stage and ready to dance even more. During this interlude to 2015’s breezy Unbreakable single, she does a quick outfit change into a ripped t-shirt and leather joggers so she can really bust a move.

“Rock With U” / “When We Ooo” / “SloLove”

It’s now time for the night’s first three-song medley. Janet whispers “Strobe lights make everything sexier/ Shadows dancing on the wall” from “Rock With U”, with the stage lights reflecting her seductive commands. The singer and her dancers continue their disco-inspired routine as they move and shake into the next two tracks.

“Love Will Never Do (Without You)”

The abundance of love is near tangible in the venue, and Janet cannot stop smiling as she looks at her fans in awe. “This next song is dedicated to all of you, can you feel the love??” she asks, as the bassline kicks in for this sparkling Rhythm Nation 1814 single.

“Alright” / “Escapade” / “When I Think of You”

The feel-good vibes continue with this next medley, as Janet and her dancers hop into the Cab Calloway-inspired routine of “Alright” as the video plays on screen. Once the other infectious songs from Rhythm Nation 1814  and Control kick in, everyone in the venue is already on their feet.

“You Want This”

With Janet celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the singer uses the following concert section to channel the album’s theme of sexual freedom. The playfulness of this single, which samples Diana Ross & the Supremes’ 1968 song “Love Child” and Kool & the Gang’s 1973 song “Jungle Boogie”, does the trick.

Just as everyone is bouncing to the jams, the stage lights temporarily cut out to shocked gasps. “Wait, what’s happening?” fans ponder as red strobe lights cut through the darkness. Once the industrial synths of “If” rip through the speakers, it’s clear we’ve now been transported to an underground European club.

“Throb” / “Free Xone” Mashup

The club kid spirit heightens even more with this dizzying mashup of diehard fan-favorite deep cuts from Janet and The Velvet Rope . Once it ends, fans find themselves glistening with sweat as they reach for their drinks to cool themselves off.

“That's the Way Love Goes” / “No Sleeeep” / “Got ‘Til It’s Gone”

Whew , that was a whirlwind huh? At this point, everyone (the fans and Janet alike) needs to catch their breath, so let’s slow things down with this sultry mashup. The singer saunters across the stage while snapping her fingers to the hypnotizing Janet single, before leading into Unbreakable ’s quiet storm groove. When “Got ‘Til It’s Gone” kicks in, her dancers re-emerge to perform a laid-back ‘90s hip-hop routine.

“Come Back to Me” / “Where Are You Now”

Janet is mainly known for her high-energy tunes, but this is the moment where she reminds everyone of her equally strong ballads. She takes a seat on a high stool to belt these soulful R&B love songs as the stage lights twinkle a sky-blue.

“Any Time, Any Place” / “Poetic Justice” Mashup

Still sitting on the stool, Janet bops along to this PDA anthem with sounds of rain and thunder rippling through the venue. Before the singer reaches the bridge’s climax, two dancers on the opposite end of the stage perform a sultry routine to Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s “Poetic Justice” collaboration (which famously samples “Anytime, Any Place”).

“Love Scene (Ooh Baby)” (Interlude)

Let’s keep the lustful vibes going, shall we? Janet quickly disappears from the stage as this All For You deep cut plays, signaling that it’s sex o’clock.

“Rope Burn” / “Would You Mind” / “Discipline” / “Moist”

Part of what’s made Janet such an icon is her unapologetic sexual liberation, and this medley honors that. “Mmm, my lips hurt” she moans through the BDSM anthem that is “Rope Burn”. She then unleashes her inner fantasies, breathily murmuring and purring through the next songs as she urges to touch, suck and lick and begs for punishment. Throughout this time, she calls back to 2001’s All for You Tour, where she brings up an audience member to tease on stage.

“I Get Lonely” / “What's It Gonna Be?!” Mashup

The passion peaks with this mashup, as Janet rips off her shirt to reveal a lace bustier with pierced nipples (a naughtier nod to the iconic “I Get Lonely” video). She’s then joined by her dancers for the routine. As she sings “Gonna break it down, break it down, break it down”, the audio switches to her after-hours 1999 collaboration with Busta Rhymes.

“Someone to Call My Lover”

For the concert’s final act, Janet is now ready to celebrate joy at its fullest. Once the jangling guitar riff of “Someone to Call My Lover” (which samples America’s 1972 hit “Ventura Highway”) blasts through the speakers, the fans are ready to dance once again.

“Doesn’t Really Matter”

For her final outfit change, Janet places a studded orange leather jacket (a nod to this music video) over her bustier and switches her leather joggers for khaki cargo pants. The look is easier to move in as her and her dancers break out into the classic routine.

“All For You” / “R&B Junkie” / “Make Me”

The concert’s over (or so the audience thinks) and Janet wants to make sure everyone leaves in good spirits. This high-energy medley urges everyone to leap out of their seats as they dance and shout the lyrics of each song, taking selfies and videos to capture the moment forever.

ENCORE: "Scream"

Don’t go just yet, there’s more! Before the lights get a chance to fully lower, Janet’s silhouette is awash in bright white and the “Scream” video plays on the screen. The crowd is whipped into a frenzy as they watch her master the floor routine alongside her similarly legendary brother, Michael.

“Rhythm Nation”

The singer is now reunited with all of her dance crew to perform the iconic, military-inspired routine to “Rhythm Nation,” with fans mimicking the same moves in the venue’s aisles.

“Together Again” (DJ Premier Remix) / “Together Again”

The concert officially wraps with a full-circle moment. Janet teases the lyrics of “Together Again” while the instrumental of DJ Premier’s hip-hop remix plays in the background. She reminds the audience about the importance of inclusivity and the power of love before jumping into the original version of the Hot 100-topping house anthem. Janet thanks everyone for coming and says once more that she loves them, a genuine sentiment that fan will feel hours after the concert ends.

‘Jermaine Dupri Just Fell to His Knees’: Janet Jackson’s Late Night with Q-Tip Sends Internet Into Frenzy

Social media was abuzz when online users learned that rapper Q-Tip spent his 54th birthday with his ex-girlfriend Janet Jackson.

The pop star took to her Instagram to express just how special she believes the A Tribe Called Quest founding member is. Fans immediately began to speculate whether the “Rhythm Nation” chart-topper was simply enjoying time with a dear friend or rekindling their romance.

If the latter is the case, some are asking what about Jermaine Dupri?

Janet Jackson said ex- Q-Tip came over to celebrated his 54th birthday with her as fans bring up her more recent ex, Jermaine Dupri.

Jackson’s post was simple, “30 + yrs of friendship…so special to me. Thank you for coming over last night. Happy bday,” but it caused quite an eruption and had her trending online.

She also tagged the rapper, @qtiptheabstract, in her Instagram Story which featured a dramatic but stylish black-and-white picture of him. Her message was punctuated with kissy face emojis.

“Janet spinning the block with Q-Tip,” one X user posted .

Another fan believed the two would not only be perfect together but would make all things right in the world, “There’s a parallel universe where Janet and Q-Tip are married and I bet climate change isn’t a problem there.”

One person wrote, “It was always supposed to be them for mi!”

Jermaine Dupri just fell to his knees https://t.co/dDPB3iFZar — 🌹RoseGawd🌹 (@djrosegawd) April 10, 2024

After years of never saying a word publicly about their relationship, Q-Tip spilled some tea about their coupling around the time of their meeting on the set of John Singleton’s “Poetic Justice.” In the 1993 film he played Markel, Janet’s gang-banging, drug dealer boyfriend who was shot in the car during a movie date. Janet was married at the time to René Elizondo Jr., whom she divorced in 2003.

Q-Tip said they met for the first time on set and years later she called him up to do their 1997 collaboration, “Got ‘Til It’s Gone,” and another song.

“We started dating after that,” the Abstract said during Math Hoffa’s “My Expert Opinion” show.

He gushed about how great it was for him as a kid from Linden Boulevard. dating one of the most beloved girls from his childhood.

“It be cool and sh-t. She be making eggs and sh-t and I’ll be chilling like, ‘Yo, that’s Penny!’ to myself,” he flexed. “I love her to death and she’s a Jackson — that’s Black royalty.”

The two dated and ultimately broke up in 2002. Jackson’s post did not have any romantic connotations, but fans breezed past that tidbit and clung to the narrative that the two might be getting back together. This also arrives nearly a year after many expressed excitement about what seemed to be a reunion with the SoSo Def founder.

“Jermaine Dupri just fell to his knees,” one X user said in a post .

Someone then informed the thread, “You know he dated her during ‘The Velvet Rope’ era right? That’s why the sound is like that. Also Tupac hated him cuz she loved some Tip.”

That was followed up with, “That’s why he just gotta take his lick in silence. Q-Tip is the GOAT what is Jermaine gonna do? Kamaal is 6′ and can fight. He’s also over Jermaine to me in producer lists lol.”

Jermaine and Janet dated right after Tip says the two of them called it quits in 2002. However, in 2009, just months preceding the tragic passing of her brother, Michael Jackson, she and JD broke up. The “Welcome to Atlanta” rapper admitted that one of the reasons was due to his infidelity and being flagrant about his indiscretions.

Janet did not disagree — but she has never confirmed. But in her self-titled A&E documentary, she revealed that she wanted to marry Dupri, who later claimed that he never wanted to record with her on Gillie the King and Wallo 267’s “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast.

“I never wanted to produce her. We got into an argument about me not producing her because she was around me watching everybody else get hit records,” he said explaining he didn’t want her to think he just wanted to elevate his career.

JD was spotted at Janet’s 56th birthday bash  in 2022. In April 2023, the “Someone to Call My Lover” collaborators seemed like they might spinning the block after he made a surprise appearance on her “Together Again” tour stop in Atlanta.

After Jackson’s October performance at the One Music Festival in Atlanta, clips were made of the couple canoodling out with Ashanti and Nelly on what looked like a double date.

This was the second time they linked up. But maybe Jermaine, who boasts about taking the “Nasty” recording artist to strip clubs, was too dramatic .

One fan thought that might be the case when the producer was talking to his daughter about why he and her mother broke up .

“Girl hush yo daddy tryna spin da block on Janet… this gon be the second time you mess it up for them,” one fan joked.

But maybe … the person was right.
