Two day KSTDC Coorg Tour Package

We opted for the Nagarhole-medikeri-nisargama-Golden temple trip and overall it was a good experienced with tour provided by KSTDC. Time constraints on each point based on the place (40min - 60min). Bus came at 7:45 at the Town Hall, Bangalore and it was an Non-AC bus with good condition. We had breakfast in between (don't know the place name but it was good and peaceful) . Our first point was Golden temple, it was a good place and nice place to take to take pictures and to see Tibetan architecture. Second place was cauvery nisargama, Its a picnic spot and nothing much to see except the bridge ( personally i didn't like it) but people can do shopping here. We ran behind the schedule because people used to take more time on each spot. Next spot was abbey falls it was good but got very less time to enjoy the falls (30 min). I wanted to see sunset at raja seat but when we reached it was already 7:PM and Nothing much left there to see. After Raja seat we went to mayura hotel bagamandala it was 2 hour journey from raja seat. Hotel was good and rooms are in good condition (More then what i have expected). We had dinner in the hotel and it was OK. Next day we started at 6:30 from Hotel to Talacauvery, Nice place and view from there was really good. We had good time there. After that we went to Bhagamndala temple and sangam, Good place to enjoy and take some pictures. Next we had 2 hours journey to nagrahole national park, Not able to see any animals except deer. After that we had tea and we reached bangalore at 10:00 PM in the night. Overall Happy with the KSTDC service and looking forward for more tours from KSTDC.

It took them more than half a day to reach our first destination the The Golden Temple, Bylakuppe (Tibetan Monastery) which they wanted to skip since the main temple was renovating so it would be closed. When us travelers made protested that this should have been informed on the stite before hand and another destination chosen in it's place they relented and took us to visti the temple. This was just the starter, the night stay hotel was worse than the 'no tell' motels, the bedsheets stinked, there were mosquitoes and food was bad too. The next after our visit to Talacauvery as we were returning to the hotel the bus broke down, we waited for more than an hour before they got a local kstrc bus to take us back to the hotel. On returning to the hotel we were told to go and look at sangam all by ourselves, while they repaired the bus. They finally got it done after 02:00 pm and we were able to leave and had to miss the other places mentioned in the tour for which we were never compensated. Never ever will I go on a KSTDC tour.

On 6.7.2018, we returned from Kodaikanal after 4 days KSTDC Mysore- Ooty-Coonoor-Kodaikanal package pre-scheduled tour which I booked 3 weeks ago. Overall it was an excellent travel experience in 4 days and nights and we were on a tight schedule. All together there were 10 tourist including my wife and daughter. I am from Kolkata. This is my first time in Bengaluru. KSTDC has several package tour with reasonable rate. KSTDC Bus was not luxuriant type but middle standard semi sleeper. Tour manager cum guide, driver and assistant were always there to help you and their behaviour also remarkably good. We started in the early morning from BMTC central Bus terminus at Yeswantpur. One third of 31 seater bus almost looked empty and the driver drove it efficiently. Our first stop was Daria Daulat Bagh in Srirangapatna which was Tipu Sultan's summer palace. Next three places were Ranganatha Swamy temple, St. Philomina's church, Chamundi hills. Brindavan garden with musical fountain was another attraction. Musical fountain show starts at 7pm. We saw that this spot attracted huge crowd on a week day too. I think Mysore zoo could have been covered in the trip by skipping some of the sites mentioned earlier. I noticed that entrance fees everywhere is higher than West Bengal. Even pay and use toilet fee is ₹5! In the evening we enjoyed our visit to Mysore Palace. First night we stayed in Govt. run Mayura Hoysala Hotel in Mysore. Arrangement was fine, but meal was not good enough. Next day early morning we started towards Sri Nanjundeshwara Swamy temple, at Nanjangud. The guide said this Shiv temple was 1000 years old. The structure and stone of the temple proved itself. After seeing this we had our breakfast at Gundalpet, before going to Ooty via Bandipur and Madumali Forest. Our guide said if our luck favoured we could have spotted tiger also. This tiger reserve is home to more than 400 tigers and is controlled and divided by both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu Govt. In our two hour journey through the forest we saw wild boars, monkeys, peacocks and deers. The forest was dense and deep green. After entering Tamil Nadu we passed through several private tea gardens. Dotted with checkpoints and forest offices, the Bandipur route is banned for vehicles during night time. Weather was very comfortable and the scenery very pleasing. We reached Ooty by noon. We all enjoyed boating at the Ooty lake at the height of 7,600 ft. After spending a memorable time we had our lunch at Hotel Mayura Sudershan. From there we went to see Doddabetta View Point, which is situated at 8,600 ft, the highest peak in Nilgiri range. Then we visited Botanical Garden and Horticulture center of Karnataka Govt., which comprised of manicured lawns and offered a beautiful view. While returning, we luckily got to see a herd of wild bisons grazing in the jungle. Ooty was very cold and everywhere we went sightseeing, there were small shops selling homemade chocolates and various medicinal oils. We spent the night at Hotel Prethi Palace in the heart of Ooty. It was inconvenient as hotel does not have lift and we were given accommodation on third floor. Lodging arrangements are done by KSTDC throughout the trip. Eating and entrance fee are borne by the tourist. On third day we began journey at 9.30am toward Kodaikanal via Coonoor through Wellington cantonment area. Temperature started increasing as we travelled downhill. Surprisingly it was quite hot and humid in Sim Park, the Coonor botanical garden. Then we started toward Kodaikanal through plains. It took almost six hours . After crossing over plains we climbed up Western ghat to reach Kodaikanal. It was really a thrilling journey with several hair-pin bends along the route uphill. It took two hours to reach in proper city from the foothills. There were vast coconut farms in foothills and mango and jackfruit trees along the way which provided a fascinating scenery. When we reached there after sundown and were put up in well furnished S V International hotel. The food was very nice and hospitality very good. Kodaikanal is situated at 8, 600 ft. above sea level in Western ghat. It is very difficult to imagine such a town could be built in such remote hilly areas. We have seen different tourist spots such as Pillar Rock, Green Valley, Coaker’s Walk, St Christ King church, and Kodai Lake. Me, my wife and my daughter tried our hand at horse riding at Bryant park. It was quite fun and they charged ₹100 per ride. On the way back we saw Silver Cascade spring which is a small waterfall. We reached Bengaluru at dawn after a whole night journey. As expected the tour was hectic but despite that, we enjoyed very much. One thing needs to be mentioned is that the quality and variety of food available in the different sites was not great. We preferred to depend mainly on south Indian meals.

Karnataka state tourism department is one of the famous tourism department in India Karnataka is going to give more importance to tourism. So many ideas to develop tourism department. Like improving transport.

I and my wife, both senior citizens, took the Bengaluru-Tirupati one-day package tour operated by Karnataka Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) yesterday assuming it would be a good trip. However, these are our observations: (a) Bus was not punctual to start. There was a 50 minute delay which was not made up. (b) It was a multi-axle Volvo bus, but the ride was bumpy. Probably the bus was poorly maintained, especially the suspension. We did not feel the comfort of an air cushion. (c) The hotel provided to freshen up in the morning is so so. Room was dusty and bathroom was dirty. (d) A special mention should be made about the guide at Tirupati. He asked us to deposit our electronic items like cell phones and cameras at a particular shop. Probably he gets a commission. He distributed 2 laddus to each of the passengers. However, what was annoying was that he sold extra laddus at Rs.90/- each for those who wanted. Extra laddus were available at TTD counters for Rs.50/- each but the guide did not inform us about it at all. He asked us to return to a meeting place immediately after darshan and not to wander about. Another pilgrim, who was watching the guide told me that TTD gives senior citizens 4 laddus as prasadam and 2 laddus for others. Probably the guide had collected all the laddus for the passengers, including many seniors who were in the group, distributed two each to all the passengers and sold the extra at a premium. This kind of behaviour on the part of the guide puts KSTDC in bad light. Anyone choosing to travel by KSTDC to Tirupati, please watch out.

Quite a toughg affair to cover Sharavanabelagola, Belur and Halebeed in 1 day. but managed to do a abbreviated trip thanks to KSTDC. Since we were just 11 of us booked for the day , we had a Isuzu mini bus against the nomal Ashok Leyland AC bus. But the vehicle was well driven. Breakfast halt was given at Mayura Hotel. This was slightly defective as it was a self service. After that we were dropped at shravanabelagola and given 90 mins time. I thought it was less considering my parents were there but we were able to complete it in 75 mins. Next lunch was at Belur Mayura which was good. Meals and North Indian were available. We were given for an hour at Belur which was slightly less but enjoyed neverthless. Next we were taken to halebeed, given an hour and halt for tea was given at Mayura Halebeed. Again we were brought back to Yediyur for dinner. The travel charges were only included in the fare and guides and food was extra. Spent Rs.3800/- for 4 for travel and overall about Rs.5000/- for 4 which seemed quite fine compared to taxi trips. Return we got down at Yeshvantapur metro station at 2215hrs and came back home after a tiring long day Better to take this trip on Saturday or keeping in mind a holiday next day as the journey does make it tiresome. But overall a good memory to cherish
