Golf’s most decorated veterans will compete for ‘The Legends Trophy’ between August 12-14 at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club.

The Hertfordshire country club will see professional golf back at its 7,000-yard Jack Nickalaus-designed parkland course, which promises to deliver a “great few days of golf.”

The new Legends Tour event will be hosted by two-time DP World Tour winner Simon Khan who welcomes former Ryder Cup captains and Major winners alike to his home course to compete for the trophy and converted points towards the Legends Tour ‘Order of Merit’.

Kahn said: “What I am really looking forward to is everyone coming to play my home course and having it set up really well. If everyone comes away and has enjoyed themselves – hopefully, I play well and beat them all as well – that would be great.”

That competitive instinct has never left Kahn who famously held off current European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald by a shot to win the BMW PGA Championship back in 2010.

He added: “I am looking forward to raising my level and being in contention to win. I didn’t really have that last year; maybe in one event in the Seychelles, but that was it. I want to have that feeling again and that is why we play.”

A Tour going from strength to strength

Formerly known as the European Seniors Tour, and the Staysure Tour, the Legends Tour is the men’s professional golf tour for members aged 50 and older.

The quality of the Tour speaks for itself with names such as Paul McGinley, Paul Lawrie, Ian Woosam, and Thomas Bjorn all competing to end the season on top of the Order of Merit rankings.

Some of the game’s greats including Colin Montgomerie, Sam Torrance, and Woosnam are among the winners of the John Jacobs Trophy, secured in 2022 by South African James Kingston.

The new Legends Tour event will be the first major international tournament the par-72 course has hosted since the DP World Tour’s English Championship in 2020.

Phil Harrison, Legends Tour chief executive officer, said: “We are delighted to be bringing major international golf back to Hanbury Manor and are extremely pleased that Simon Khan has agreed to host at his home course. The whole event promises to be a great few days of golf, so I would encourage everyone who can to head down and see some great golf.”

The Legends Tour has announced it will be holding a new tournament in the UK this summer as Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club welcomes back major international professional golf.

Taking place between August 12-14, The Legends Trophy will see some of the game’s most decorated players visit the Hertfordshire venue as they compete in what will be the third UK tournament held in the month of August.

Two-time DP World Tour winner Simon Khan – who famously won the 2010 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth with a one-shot victory over fellow Englishman Luke Donald and Swede Fredrik Andersson Hed – will host the event as he welcomes his fellow Legends Tour players to his home course.

Khan said: “Hanbury Manor was one of the original new courses – a Jack Nicklaus-design back in the early 1990s. There are a lot of exciting holes on the course, and it should bring a lot of entertainment.

“I am looking forward to raising my level and being in contention to win. I didn’t really have that last year; maybe in one event in the Seychelles but that was it. I want to have that feeling again and that is why we play.

“What I am really looking forward to is everyone coming to play my home course and having it set up really well. If everyone comes away and has enjoyed themselves – hopefully I play well and beat them all as well – that would be great.”

Originally designed by Harry Vardon before being redesigned by Jack Nicklaus II, the parkland course at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club stretches over 7,000 yards and offers a true challenge to any golfer. A previous host of a number of tournaments including the English Open and the Ladies European Open, The Legends Trophy will be the first major international tournament the par-72 course has hosted since the DP World Tour’s English Championship in 2020.

Tickets will be sale for the event from Friday, May 19 at 9am, with an early booking promotion available. Adult tickets cost £10, with over 50s at £7.50 and juniors (under 16s) receiving free entry.

The upcoming Legends Tour season promises to be the biggest since its rebranding in 2020, with larger fields, record-breaking prize funds and new venues hosting major events like Trump International Golf Links Aberdeen and Seapoint Golf Links – a rising star in the ranks of Irish links courses just an hour north of Dublin.

Last year, former Ryder Cup captains and Major winners including Paul McGinley, Paul Lawrie, Michael Campbell, Ian Woosnam and Thomas Bjorn all competed on the Legends Tour as South African James Kingston secured the Legends Tour Order of Merit to win the John Jacobs Trophy.

The  Legends Tour  has announced it will be holding a new tournament in the UK this summer as Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club welcomes back major international professional golf.

Taking place between August 12-14,  The Legends Trophy  will see some of the game’s most decorated players visit the Hertfordshire venue as they compete in what will be the third UK tournament held in the month of August.

After The Senior Open presented by Rolex is held at Royal Porthcawl GC from July 27-30, the Legends Tour will stage the The JCB Championship at JCB Golf & Country Club, Uttoxeter from August 3-5, while after Hanbury the tour heads up to Scotland for the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship at Trump International Golf Links from August 23-27.

We begin our Moscow tour beneath the city, exploring the underground palace of the Moscow Metro. From the Square of Revolution station, famous for its huge statues of soviet people (an armed soldier, a farmer with a rooster, a warrior, and more), we’ll move onto some of the most significant stations, where impressive mosaics, columns, and chandeliers will boggle your eyes! Moreover, these stations reveal a big part of soviet reality — the walls depict plenty of Propaganda , with party leaders looking down from images on the walls. Your local guide will share personal stories of his/her family from USSR times, giving you insight into Russia’s complicated past and present. Then we’re coming back up to street level, where we’ll take a break and refuel with some Russian fast food: traditional pancakes, called bliny. And then, stomachs satiated, we are ready to move forward! We’ll take the eco-friendly electric trolleybus, with a route along the Moscow Garden Ring. Used mainly by Russian babushkas(grannies) during the day, the trolleybus hits peak hours in the mornings and evenings, when many locals use it going to and from their days. Our first stop will be the Aviator’s House, one of Stalin’s Seven Sisters, followed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — and you’ll hear the legends of what has gone on inside the walls. Throughout your Moscow tour, you’ll learn curious facts from soviet history while seeing how Russia exists now, 25 years after the USSR.
