M&M Tours. This is our no frills experience offering direct transpiration (14 miles) from downtown Juneau to the Mendenhall Glacier. Buses leave the main cruise ship terminal and glacier every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour beginning at 8:00am most days. The last bus back to downtown leaves the glacier at 6:00pm.

M&M tours is located right by the cruise ship docks and they also have a booth in the tourist center of Skagway. We booked a tour of the Klondike summit and enjoyed a ride up through the mountain roads and saw some of the great photo spots too such as the "Welcome To Alaska" sign that makes a good photo op and the border between the US and Canada.

Getting off the ship, we were asked if we'd like to take a tour of Juneau, the Mendenhall glacier, and St. Therese shrine. We signed up for the 3-hour tour that costs $54 each. Our tour van driver was Linda, a native of Juneau. It was a drizzly day, but she was a fantastic tour guide.
We bought our tickets from M&M Tours right off our cruise ship and walked down to board the Big Blue Bus to the glacier. In 25 minutes we were at Mendenhall Glacier National Park. We traveled through the Tongass National Forest, the largest such forest in the U.S. and could see large snow/ice fields in the mountains along the way.

For a start the glacier itself is an excellent site, cannot say the same for M&M tours. At 10.40 on a Sunday we booked a tour from a quaside agent for departure at 11.30. We arrived at the departure point at 11.20 to be told that there was a problem with the bus and, tour would not begin until 12.00.
