The Nemo II offers a truly intimate cruising experience; with just seven cabins, accommodating a maximum of 14 guests on each cruise, you can be assured of a friendly vibe and personalized service. All cabins have a private bathroom and air conditioning. Some have a double bed, and others have two single bunks. Savour delicious cuisine in the classy dining room and feel the sun’s warm rays on your face as you relax on the sun deck. There is also an indoor lounge from where you can enjoy the views and learn more about the area with the A/V system, and an onboard guide can also help answer any questions you may have. A kayak is carried for further explorations of the waters, though you’ll also be able to get close to wildlife without leaving your small ship cruise vessel.  

Join an eight-day cruise on the Nemo II and be dazzled by the diverse and unusual wildlife, the magical underwater world, and the picturesque vistas of the Galapagos. There are plenty of activities to enjoy. There are two routes to choose between, both starting and finishing at Baltra. The North itinerary takes guests to Santa Cruz, complete with a trip to the Charles Darwin Station, to various points on the island of Isabela, to Buccaneer Cove on Santiago, where snorkeling, kayaking, and panga riding are on the menu of activities, and then to the islands of Rabida, Genovesa, and Daphne. The South program also visits the Charles Darwin Station on Santa Cruz before sailing to San Cristobal and Lobos Island. Other highlights include diverse stops on Espanola, Floreana, Santa Fe, and Santiago islands.

amazing trip, excelent organization

one of the most fantastic trips in my life, live aboard was great, the catamaran has all the thing you need to make the trip so special...food is amazing. Galapagos marine and land wild life is beyond anything I've seen. The guide was excellent, the timing of each activity perfect....not a single complain or suggestion.

Swimming with sharks and penguins. It was a very great trip overall. For improvement: Sleeping was very difficult in our room while generator was running. They provided good service and turned it off after we told them. Also tips information given by Crew was twice as high as recommended by Lonely planets travelguide 2022 for galapagos. That was a bit misleading. Overall we were very happy about the trip.

A fantastic journey through Galapagos nature!

Walking on lava fields. Snorkeling with sharks, sea lions, turtles and many other creatures. Genovesa boobery. Playing with sea lions. Travelling on a catamaran was the best way to really experience and be immersed in Galapagos nature. Crew's attention to details.

By far the best choice for Galapagos cruise!

I choose Nemo 2 for my Galapagos cruise because I wanted to experience catamaran type of sailing ship & be able to snorkel in many destinations. Oh how good was my decision! Nemo 2 is very stable and you don't get seasick as easily as in other types of ships. Its also small and has perfect group size of 14; You'll get to know others very well and group spirit will be great! I also liked hospitality of crew; they work hard in order to keep ship very clean and you satisfied; Food is great, and there are tasty snacks and soft drinks between meals! And our guide was amazing! He was really helpful and answered to our questions with great enthusiasm! And yes, you can do a lot of snorkeling with Nemo 2 !! which is great!

Once in a lifetime experience

We saw so much! Our guide's enthusiasm was great. He seemed to really enjoy sharing the islands with us. He was very knowledgable about the animals and sealife, and while snorkeling would dive under to point out animals we might not see otherwise. It was overall a great experience.

A former Galápagos fisherman, he's been skipper here for 12 years and he knows the local waters intimately. He also loves snorkelling, so more often than not he joins us when we get in the water! Fabricio the chef has been working for Nemo for 7 years, and he loves to cook seafood the Ecuadorian way - you'll love it. All the meals are served buffet-style, and taken in the outdoor dining area which can actually be enclosed to keep out the wind, but keep the amazing views. A Nemo cruise is quite active, typically you will enjoy 5 or 6 activities per day. We were tired but very happy each and every evening. Finally, what an experience to be on a true sailing catamaran - you will be travelling under sail through the Galápagos Islands and we found it magical.

Nemo II has been cleverly designed to allow for larger, more opens cabins than many catamarans of similar type. Her seven cabins include some with double beds and others with twin bunk or double with single bunk. Cabin are decorated with clean, bright finishes and they are well lit making them feel airy and spacious. Each one has individual air conditioning and private en suite bathrooms with modern decor and hot shower and basin.

Nemo II has excellent social spaces. The catamaran design means central lounge area is large and open, with luxurious sofas and easy chairs and a bright modern design with panoramic windows. Beautiful wood complements the crisp white finishes, and the bar, TV with DVD, and music system mean the lounge is a great place to relax with the other guests.

The dining room is outside, yet enclosed and offers relaxed dining with comfortable chairs and large tables to share the excellent food. The upper deck has sun loungers to lie down on and soak up the equatorial sun, or to gaze up at the stars at night. Between the two bows you can sit or lie on the netting, floating over the ocean and maybe spotting a dolphin or two.

When moving under sail there’s nowhere better to be that on the upper deck, where the captain’s open wheelhouse means you get a fantastic sailing experience that’s totally different to the motor yachts and this is the reason why Nemo II is such a popular choice.

Nemo II offers a choice of excellent itineraries to help you really explore the Galápagos. Her bilingual naturalist guide will share their in-depth knowledge of the local wildlife and habitats, and you can enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, hiking and more as you cruise around the islands. The food on our Galapágos Cruises is among the very best you will find in South America. Most of the on-board chefs are internationally trained and have prior experience working in the best hotels and restaurants in Ecuador and indeed around the world.

You can expect a first-class selection of food, including a good variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, locally sourced poultry and fish/seafood, rice and pasta dishes. Most boats will always include some typical Ecuadorian dishes on the menu during your cruise. If you have specific dietary requirements then these can usually be accommodated by the chef providing you have given advance notice. Please make sure you tell us about any allergies or dietary requirements you have at the time you book with us. If you leave it until you arrive at the dockside, then it may well be impossible to accommodate your needs.

Most boats serve a range of options at meal times in a relaxed buffet-style. At the first class and luxury end of the market, some boats have more formal dining where you will be served at your seat. However the atmosphere is always relaxed on board our cruises, and never stuffy or formal.

Nemo II Galapagos Cruise

It's said nothing is perfect but our 4-day, 3-night cruise on the Nemo II catamaran pretty much was. The group, the crew, the food, the guide and the excursions more than exceeding our expectations. There was a long list of sea life and wildlife on the itinerary that it said we might see and, with the exception of hammerhead sharks, we saw the lot. We even saw orca and albatross. Maybe we were just lucky. I was told by a friend that Galapagos is the one place you can swim with sea lions and penguins at the same time, which seemed a little far-fetched but that's exactly what happened on our tour. Our guide probably had a lot to do with this. His enthusiasm and knowledge was a credit to the Galapagos. Not only did he make sure that everyone who wanted to got the chance to experience these natural wonders close up but there was often a National Geographic style photo to prove it. Four days isn't long, for us though just right, I think. There was a decent mix of underwater and land-based activities. I was fascinated by the different landscapes and birds on each of the islands. We fell in with a super group of fellow passengers - we were just 13 made up of six nationalities and for those few short days we were one big happy world family. The crew operated quietly and anonymously in the background to somehow make sure our three meals were haute cuisine, the cabin housekeeping was done by magic and the inflatable boat (water taxi, RIB, I can't remember what it was called) was always there to transport us to the next adventure - and back! On paper it seemed expensive, in reality it really wasn't. And the benefit of a three-night trip means that although this is supposed to be once in a lifetime, we'd happily do it again.

This adventure was GREAT! What an unforgettable trip! My guide, Rual, was extremely knowledgeable about all of the birds, animals and history of the islands. The terrain we covered was more strenuous than I had expected. A lot of climbing on high steep rocks with uneven surfaces was the norm. Although I did not participate in snorkeling, others did and got a lot of great underwater pictures. I saw the giant tortoise, blue footed and red footed boobies, volcanic formations and other animals only found on the islands. My 7 days - 6 nights was just a perfect amount of time. Nemo II Review-March 31 to April 7 We went on the Nemo II catamaran the first week of April on the northern route and have nothing but great reviews for the boat and the crew. The boat was immaculate, the crew was friendly, courteous and very efficient. It seemed as if they were always working, but willing to take time to talk if we initiated a conversation. We did find out that the crew rotates about every six weeks so there is no guarantee that you will have the same people each time, but I don’t think it matters too much since they all seem to enjoy what they do. I will say this is not a luxury boat, but they don’t sell themselves as such. The cabins are small, but you don’t spend much time in them so it doesn’t matter too much. My husband and I had cabin 3, which has a top double bunk and a lower single. We mostly used the lower one for storage although our daughter did sleep in it one night when she was ill. She mostly stayed in cabin 5 with her aunt, which has two single upper bunks and some storage below. We also had two other friends traveling in our group who had cabin 6. Their cabin, with one upper and one lower bunk, was near one of the engines and a bit smaller than cabin 5. The common areas are spacious, with a lounge inside and covered dining outside. It was never an issue with bad weather, although it did rain a couple of times, mostly at night. The upper deck area was always available to sit on and did have a couple of awnings that were open to provide shade most of the time. It was amazing to sit up there at night and look at all of the stars in the sky. We found the shower to be inconsistent in our cabin, some days the water would be warm, others downright cold. My sister-in-law always had hot water in her shower and we never heard anyone else complain about cold showers. We joked that since our cabin was right across from the galley that the dishwasher must be using all the hot water on that side of the boat. We never did ask anyone to see if it could be fixed as it wasn’t that big of a deal for us. It was hot outside and most days the cool shower felt really good. Our guide, Graciela, was extremely knowledgeable, having worked in the Galapagos for over twenty years. She obviously cares about the islands and knows the history and wildlife well. While she was nice, she did not go out of her way to be overly friendly. We did notice that we would never see her before breakfast and she always seemed to disappear into her cabin immediately after dinner each night. During any down time we had, she was pretty much no where to be seen. I don’t know if this is common with other guides, but we found it odd. The last afternoon she did join us on deck as we were moving to the next island. Each night before dinner she would explain the next day’s itinerary, and we found that on a few occasions she gave erroneous information, getting us mixed up with a different boat that she sometimes guides. It was confusing but we get it sorted out eventually. I don’t know how often she works on the Nemo II, but one crew member did tell me that whenever they have children on board (there were three girls aged 8-11) the owner tries to make sure they have a female guide. Overall, we were extremely happy with this boat. As I said, it’s not a luxury boat but we didn’t want that. The passenger to crew ratio is 2:1 and the attentiveness of the crew is amazing. We were lucky to have Antonio, Mauricio, Jorge, Ernesto, Daniel and Victor helping us this week. When our daughter became ill for a few days, I was amazed at the concern they all showed for her and how happy everyone was when she recovered. Victor (the chef) even prepared chicken noodle soup for her, something I’m sure wasn’t originally planned for the week. Some people have said that they have problems with crews because most of them don’t speak English, but it wasn’t really a problem for us. I speak a little bit of Spanish and as the week went on I tried to learn more, and the crew appeared happy to help me with this. Mauricio helped me quite a bit, plus he speaks English pretty well, much better than he realizes. That seemed to be the case with most of the crew; they do understand English even if they don’t speak it much. It certainly doesn’t hurt if we try to speak a bit of Spanish either! I would highly recommend this boat to anyone interested in touring the Galapagos. The smaller size may put some people off, but I think the size played a big part in our total experience. You get to know your traveling companions pretty quickly and there is much more interaction with the crew. Our immediate group made up half of the passengers, plus a family of four from Canada and a younger couple from Australia. We all meshed fairly well, plus our daughter was excited to have other girls her age to play with. I don’t believe it’s typical to have children on board, but everyone (crew included) seemed to enjoy having them there. Most of the crew members have children themselves and they were are very patient with the girls. The bottom line is this: the Nemo II is a good boat, has a friendly and attentive crew. The cabins are small, but you don’t spend much time in them. The food was surprisingly good, especially given the small area the chef has to work in. They work hard to ensure you have a good time, but you can also tell they enjoy what they do. I would not hesitate to travel on this boat again if we return to the Galapagos, but next time on the southern route.

The great weather of the Galapagos Islands makes them a fantastic destination for travel year-round. Every month of the year is a good time to enjoy a tour of the region. The Galapagos Islands have a subtropical climate that is almost completely determined by sea currents. Although most believe the Galapagos to be a very hot destination, the cool water currents in the area keep the climate more temperate year-round. The islands’ equatorial location ensures twelve hours of sunlight daily, all year long. The mild variations in weather from month to month result in an overall climate of warm days, cool nights and low humidity. Anytime is a great time to travel to the Galapagos; while visiting one can expect to see plenty of sunshine, blue skies and a possible chance of light rain. There are two seasons in the Galapagos:

• The hot or rainy season arrives with the coming of the warm Panama current. The warmest months are December through June with temperatures ranging from 72-90°F (22-32°C), with February and March being the hottest and sunniest. The sea is at its warmest (in the 70°F range) and tends to be calmer during this time. Although the islands receive slightly more rainfall during these months, most of the lower elevations remain quite arid. Expect blue skies and sunshine and with a chance of short afternoon showers.
• July through November is the dry or garua season, which begins with the arrival of cold ocean currents. One can expect cooler temperatures and a light mist in the morning during these months. The skies are also a bit cloudier and air temperatures a bit cooler, in the range of 60-75°F (15-24°C). The garua is a mist that forms in the highlands, providing moisture and usually tapering off by midday, leaving skies slightly overcast or sunny for the afternoon. The air temperature can be slightly lower, but the Equator is still a warm place to visit. During this time of year a cold ocean current from the south, called the Antarctic Humboldt current, causes the water temperature to drop slightly, ranging from 60°F- 72°F (15-22°C).

Within both seasons, there are other variants, like altitude, that affect the weather. The lowest point of elevation is sea level and the highest is Wolf Volcano, Isabela Island (5,600ft or 1,710m). There are seven vegetation zones ranging from arid coastal zones to evergreen cloud forests to treeless shrubless pampa zones, all of which are affected by moisture levels, temperature and sunlight. During the garua season, the coast is very dry while the highlands are much wetter. The hot season may or may not have a rainy period which normally lasts four to six weeks, or in the event of El Nino, a longer period. During the hot season, the coastal zones remain arid. Prevailing winds from the southeast keep the southern sides of the major islands much moister then the northern sides, which fall into a rain shadow resulting in the arid zones reaching a much higher elevation. The months of May and December are changeover periods and weather and sea temperatures in these months tend to vary from year to year depending on the change in the water currents. Occasionally, one will feel humidity, predominantly on the south side of major islands. Compared to the humidity levels in the Amazon or the US South, the humidity in the Galapagos is very low and will not disturb activities. Snorkeling is an activity offered on all Galapagos trips. Wetsuits, available onboard most cruises and for all land tours, are recommended June through November. Though sea temperatures vary significantly from island to island, generally all travelers will use a wetsuit during this time. Snorkeling in shallow waters offshore or in protective coves tends to be warmer. Waters to the north, near Genovesa are warmed by the Panama Current, whereas snorkeling off the western island of Isabela is always chilly due to the cold Cromwell undercurrent. The Humboldt Current, or the South Equatorial Current, brings cold sub-Antarctic water that flows through the archipelago eight or nine months a year keeping sea temperatures low. One will experience a variance in sea temperatures while snorkeling on any trip during any time of the year. During the hot season, travelers tend to spend more time in the water, especially at midday when the temperatures are the hottest and wildlife is less active. Snorkeling is an optional activity and those who are not interested in snorkeling have other options. Sea Conditions are a concern of many cruise travelers. All Galapagos vessels are small; the largest accommodates only 100 passengers. Naturally, some movement will be felt on all vessels regardless of the time of year or the size of the vessel. The seas around the Galapagos are generally shallow and despite being the crossroads of several currents, the waters are not terribly rough. The seas are at their calmest January through April. December, May and June are transitional months during which one will experience relatively calm seas, though it varies year to year depending on the shift in the currents. July through November, one will find choppier seas, with August through October being the roughest. Certain vessels are more stable than others and cabin location can also help avoid seasickness. Most travel is done at night while passengers are sleeping with the only exception being the short midday transit (two hours or less). During the day, vessels dock in calm waters near shore. Passengers spend most of the day on land or snorkeling. These factors lessen the risk of seasickness. We recommend that you bring over-the-counter or prescription motion sickness medication, though many cruisers discover that the seas are much calmer than anticipated. AM: Upon arrival, you’ll take care of your  Galapagos National Park entrance fee . To help preserve this incredible environment, a  quick luggage inspection  ensures we keep it free from any foreign substances.

PM: Enjoy a  welcome cocktail  and  lunch  before navigating to  Las Bachas beach  in  Santa Cruz . The name is a nod to the  World War II barges  wrecked offshore. Experience a wet landing for  snorkeling ,  swimming , and  wildlife observation . Keep an eye out for  great blue herons , small waders like  sanderlings , and  semi-palmated plovers  around the  saltwater lagoon .

AM: Darwin Bay , nestled within the  caldera  of a  dormant volcano , welcomes visitors with a  serene small coral beach . A leisurely  stroll  awaits those seeking a  relaxed exploration . For the more adventurous, an  optional , challenging  walk  across rugged  lava rock terrain  beckons, promising a thrilling experience.

PM: Today we visit Genovesa Island , also known as “Bird Island”. Prince Philip’s Steps , also known as El Barranco, is a popular visitor site where  tropicbirds ,  red-footed boobies , and  other nesting seabirds  can be found. We walk up a cliff through a  Palo Santo forest  to a  storm petrel colony , passing  red-footed  and  Nazca boobies  and  great frigatebirds  along the way.

AM: On Santiago Island , Sullivan Bay invites you into a world of mystique and grandeur. As you step onto the expansive lava fields, the hardened lava flows beneath your feet tell a story of volcanic might . Snorkeling amidst the vibrant marine species, you wander through a kaleidoscope of colors.

PM: With its distinctive  red-sand beach ,  diverse wildlife , and  dazzling terrains , Rábida Island offers a  unique  and  memorable experience  for visitors. Explore the  crystal-clear waters  through  snorkeling , encounter  sea lions  and  marine iguanas , hike along  scenic trails , and lose yourself in the island’s natural beauty.

AM: Explore the lush vegetation in the  highlands  of  Santa Cruz Island  to see unique zones. Your visit to  Rancho Las Primicias  provides an excellent opportunity to observe  Galapagos giant tortoises  up close in their natural habitat.

PM: Return to  Puerto Ayora  for a visit to the  Fausto Llerena Interpretation Center , inside the  Charles Darwin Research Station . The center is dedicated to educating visitors about  ongoing scientific research  and  conservation initiatives . It highlights the importance of  responsible tourism  by illustrating the  environmental challenges  faced by the Islands. The day concludes with  dinner  and our nightly  orientation  back on the  yacht .

AM: Elizabeth Bay , a haven of serenity and natural beauty , invites travelers to awaken their senses with the verdant embrace of mangrove forests and the striking presence of volcanic formations . The bay unveils a mesmerizing display of marine life that includes graceful sea turtles , lively penguins , elegant rays , and singular marine iguanas . Snorkeling enthusiasts will enjoy vibrant coral reefs beneath the sun-kissed waves.

PM: Next we sail to  Urbina Bay , known for its  unique geological uplift . A wet landing introduces  nature walks ,  wildlife observation , and shallow-water  snorkeling . Nestled at the base of Alcedo Volcano, south of Tagus Cove, Urbina Bay showcases a recent uplift phenomenon from 1954, elevating the shoreline by nearly 15 ft (4 m). Witness the captivating impact of geological shifts in this remarkable Galapagos location.

AM: Sail to  Isabela Island and arrive at the historic Tagus Cove . With a dry landing, commence a nature walk that ascends through the dry vegetation zone, offering panoramic views of  Darwin Lake , a saltwater crater lake, and a narrow inlet. A  panga  ride adds a scenic touch to the adventure. Conclude the day with deep water  snorkeling , appreciating the diverse marine life of the cove.

PM: Start your exploration of  Fernandina Island  with a wet landing at  Espinoza Point . The morning nature walk unveils the island’s unique volcanic terrain, where  flightless cormorants  build nests,  sea lions  bask on the beach, and  marine iguanas  create a captivating spectacle. Immerse yourself in the vibrant underwater world through deep-water  snorkeling .

AM: Transition to  Buccaneer Cove  through scenic  panga  (dinghy) rides. This  historic site , less than an hour from Puerto Egas, served as a refuge for pirates, sailors, and whalers during the 18th and 19th centuries. Immerse yourself in the tales of this haven, where ships found respite for repairs, and explorers stocked up on essential supplies. Deepwater  snorkeling  adds a marine dimension to this historical journey.

PM: Commence an exciting exploration with a wet landing at  Puerto Egas . This unique site in  Santiago Island  promises a  nature walk , a glimpse into  salt mines , and a visit to the fur seal grotto . Dive into the vibrant underwater world with shallow-water  snorkeling , complementing the rich experience on land. The dark sand beaches  of this port, also known as  James Bay , set the stage for an unforgettable morning.

AM/PM: Explore the north shore of  Santa Cruz Island , home to four mangrove species extending from the shore into the lagoon. Witness  sea turtles  swimming in the calm waters, and observe  fish ,  rays , and  small sharks  below. Conclude your trip with a final  snorkeling  experience.

Later, a dinghy will transport you and your luggage to  Baltra . From there, take the  airport  shuttle, accompanied by your  guide , who will  assist you  at the check-in counters in the departure hall.

PM: Sail to  North Seymour Island , situated north of Baltra. Expect a  dry landing  and engage in  nature walks  across the  rocky coast . Along the 1.25 mi (about 2 km) trail, you’ll encounter colonies of  blue-footed boobies  and  magnificent frigatebirds .

AM:  Lobos Island  was named after the two species of sea lions that inhabit it, those related to the  California sea lions , and those related to the  ones in Antarctica . Explore the island’s  protected channel , offering fantastic  snorkeling opportunities  in its pristine waters.

PM: Located in the northwestern part of  San Cristóbal Island ,  Witch Hill  features a sprawling  white-sand beach . The eroded tuff cone, locally known as Cerro Brujo, stands at the beach’s beginning near the landing point. The bay’s calm and shallow waters make this an  ideal snorkeling site , especially for beginners. A couple of hours off the western shore of San Cristóbal, a striking rock juts out of the water vertically. Kicker Rock is also a great place to snorkel!

AM: This day is for exploring Floreana Island . Champion Islet is a snorkeler’s paradise , home to sea lions , colorful fish , and even sea turtles . Cormorant Point offers a unique beach situated between two volcanic cones with olive-green sand, resulting from a high concentration of olivine crystals .

PM: Post Office Bay is renowned for its 18th-century barrel mail system , where visitors continue the tradition by leaving and delivering mail. The site also features a scenic beach for snorkeling . Baroness Viewpoint is named after the enigmatic Baroness Eloise von Wagner , who vanished in the 1930s , leaving behind tales of adventure and intrigue.

AM: Embark on an adventure to the stunning  Gardner Bay , which offers a picturesque  white-sand beach  where a bustling  sea lion colony  resides. Take a leisurely walk or dive into the crystal-clear waters for a  swim with  playful sea lion  pups . Keep an eye out for  inquisitive mockingbirds  adding charm to the beach. This is the perfect spot for  snorkeling !

PM: Explore the trail to Suárez Point , where sightings of  blue-footed boobies ,  albatrosses , and  Nazca boobies  await. This island serves as the  primary breeding ground for nearly all of the world’s 12,000 pairs of waved albatrosses. Don’t miss the  famous blowhole , spraying seawater into the air, adding excitement to this  enchanting site !

AM:  South Plaza , though petite, boasts vibrant hues, becoming a  canvas of colors  depending on the season. Encounter lively  sea lion colonies ,  marine  and  land iguanas , and a  myriad of birds  gracefully navigating the cliffs. Top off the excursion by strolling down the entire  beach .

Every day is a new adventure aboard the 72-foot sailing ship, the Nemo II. With seven cabins for 14 passengers, this twin-hulled catamaran pairs a yacht’s stability with the grace and romance of a sailboat.

Life Aboard The Nemo II Catamaran

As you set sail aboard the Nemo II, you will immediately feel a kinship with the other guests and the ship’s crew, as the experience of sailing together fosters a close-knit, family atmosphere. The Nemo II sails along two eight-day itineraries. The northern route includes stops on Genovesa Island, where you may take a cliff hike searching for red-footed boobies and storm petrel colonies in their nesting sites. On Santiago Island, you may snorkel near playful sea lions and fur seals. To visit Floreana, Espanola, and San Cristobal Islands, select a cruise along the southern route.

A stop at Lobos Island, named after the large numbers of sea lions that make their home on the island, is a chance to see the nesting grounds of frigatebirds and blue-footed boobies. A stop on Santa Fe Island includes a dingy ride through a turquoise lagoon and a hike along a loop trail where you may see endemic land iguanas.

4 Day - Northern Islands

Embarkation

AM: After arriving at Baltra airport you will be greeted by a representative of the vessel then board the Nemo II, enjoy a welcome drink, and have lunch.

PM: The name Bachas is “Spanglish” for 'barges' which were wrecked offshore during World War II. A common first landing site, there is a delightful swimming beach here, with a lagoon behind, and a longer beach for a stroll and wildlife watching. The saltwater lagoon behind often has great blue herons and small waders such as sander lings and semi‐palmated plovers. Both beaches are nesting areas for green sea turtles, which leave tracks in the sand to the back of the beach, especially from November to February. The beach offers ample space one can explore at leisure.

Darwin Bay & El Barranco

AM: Darwin bay, is the caldera of a collapsed volcano. We land on a small coral beach, were will take an easy walk. For those looking for a little more action there is a demanding optional walk over lava rock. This path will uncover stunning views from the cliffs with ample time and opportunity to photograph the amazing bird life. You may observe such species as swallow-tailed gulls, red-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, large ground finches, large cactus finches, sharp-billed ground finches, small marine iguanas, and great Frigatebirds.

PM: Also known as the bird island: El Barranco, this is a demanding walk up a steep cliff, where tropicbirds, red-footed boobies and other nesting seabirds can be found. We follow the trail through Palo Santo forest to a storm petrel colony passing red boobies and great Frigatebirds along the way.  

Sullivan Bay & Rabida

AM: Breakfast service. Panga boat ride to Sullivan Bay. Wet landing. Nature walk. The main attraction of this bay is the broad, Pahoehoe, or rope lava flows. It is one of the most incredible places to compare the lava flows and their characteristics.

PM: Lunch and navigation to visit Rabida. One of the special features of Rabida Island is its remarkable red color, which is a result of the high percentage of oxidized iron in the composition of lava. Here we will witness the nine varieties of finches, as well as the large-billed flycatchers and brown pelicans. There is also a small salt-water lagoon where greater Flamingos can be seen and a beautiful colony of sea lions. 

Disembarkation

AM: In the morning, enjoy the Highlands of Santa Cruz. This reserve offers you one of the best possibilities to see the huge turtles of Santa Cruz Island in their natural habitat. You can observe them from very close.

After your morning excursion, you will be assisted to Baltra airport for your flight to the mainland.

4 Day - Southern Islands

AM : Arrival at the airport in Baltra, reception with the cruise guide, and transfer to the yacht.

PM : Lunch service. Visit Charles Darwin Scientific Station and Breeding Center. The main visit to Puerto Ayora is to Charles Darwin Station. An excellent way to begin learning about the islands, their origin, and their formation. You will learn about how the Galapagos turtles are raised and meet George, the famous solitary turtle. The Scientific Station has a beach that receives many visitors on weekends. Dinner is served as we navigate to Floreana Island.

Cormorant Point, Champion Islet & Post Office Bay

AM : Breakfast service. Visit Floreana Island: Cormorant Point, Champion Islet, Baroness Viewpoint. Wet landing. Nature walk*. Possible activities: shallow water snorkeling, kayaking, panga boat exploration rides. The visit to Cormorant Point offers two contrasting beaches. Arriving on shore you will encounter a green sand beach (the green sand is caused by the olivine crystals derived silicates or magnesium and iron). From here you will follow the trail leading to a lagoon where Pink Flamingoes and other shorebirds can be seen in the distance making their home. If you look closely at the mud of this lagoon, there appear to be 'cracks' in the mud. These cracks are not caused by dryness but are actual flamingo footpaths. This is also a good spot for seeing Large‐Billed Flycatchers, Small‐Ground Finches, Medium‐Ground Finches, or Cactus Finches.

The walk continues to another beach on the other side made of fine white sand particles known as "Flour Beach". In the waters, Ghost Crabs and Rays can be seen swimming. Time and weather permitting you may even go for a swim or a snorkel. Other activities include a panga ride to Champion Point and kayaking at Baroness Viewpoint.

PM : Lunch service. Panga boat ride to Post Office Bay. Wet landing. Nature walk. Snorkeling from the beach. Arriving at Post Office Bay you will land on a brown sand beach, passing the sea lions lying in the sun. At the post barrel, the guide will pull a handful of letters for the group. Continuing the tradition, the letters are brought home with the traveler and then mailed to the addressee.

Visitors also have the opportunity to send letters of their own. There are also the remains of a Norwegian Fishing Village a commercial fishing operation established in 1926 and abandoned a couple of years later. The group of Norwegians who arrived with dreams of riches started a fishing and canning operation for $900 each. The tough Galapagos life and a few misfortunes had them abandon their dreams. Time and weather permitting you may have the opportunity to snorkel again from the beach. Dinner will be served as we navigate to Santiago Island.

Chinese Hat Islet & Bartolome

AM : Breakfast service. Visit Santiago Island. Wet landing at Chinese Hat. Nature walk. Deepwater snorkeling. Visit Chinese Hat, a tiny island just off the southeast tip of Santiago. Its name describes the island's shape. The landing is on a beautiful crescent‐shaped white sand beach, home to Sea Lions and Sally Lightfoot Crabs. The trail on Sombrero Chino's explores its volcanic origin, one of the most evident in the islands.

The lava rock is very fragile and tends to break off when people walk over it. The sharp outcroppings caused by these breaks make it necessary to wear good walking shoes. Patches of Pahoehoe Lava cracked lava and lava tubes can be found on the island. While the path does not lead up the striking red rust sides of the Chinese Hat to the caldera, it does venture high enough on the island to offer some spectacular views of the waves crashing below. Snorkeling in the waters near Chinese Hat can create a stir; white‐tipped sharks frequent the area, as do the playful Galapagos Penguins and Sea Lions.

PM : Lunch service. Deepwater snorkeling. Visit Bartolome. Dry landing. Nature walk. This desolate island with few plants is the most visited and most photographed island in the Galapagos. The island consists of an extinct volcano and a variety of red, orange, green, and glistening black volcanic formations. The best known of the island's features is the Tuff Cone known as Pinnacle Rock. This large black partially eroded lava formation was created when magma expelled from the volcano reached the sea. When the seawaters cooled the hot lava it caused an explosion. The exploded particles eventually fasten together forming a rock composed of thin layers.

Lying beside Pinnacle Rock are twin half-moon-shaped beaches. The northern beach is a popular snorkeling site where visitors have the opportunity to swim with fish, Sea Lions and Galapagos Penguins. Much larger animals can be found near the southern beach including stingrays, spotted eagle rays, white‐tipped sharks, and black‐tipped sharks. Little vegetation grows in this barren place. Mangroves border the beach and the small shrub Tiguilia grows in the volcanic sands. The seeds and tiny white flowers of the Chamaesycae provide food for the island's finch. These plants are common to arid regions and can survive in these harsh volcanic conditions. Farewell cocktail. Dinner is served as we navigate to Santa Cruz Island.

AM : In the morning, you can enjoy a panga boat ride to Caleta Tortuga, also known as Black Turtle Cove. There is no landing at this sight. It is located on the north side of Santa Cruz Island and the way to reach it is by a panga boat (motorized canoe). You will be able to see its mangrove swamp where marine turtles are nesting during certain seasons of the year, as well as sharks and rays. Breakfast service. 5 Day - Northern Islands

PM: The main visit in Puerto Ayora is to Charles Darwin Station. An excellent way to begin learning about the islands, their origin and formation. You will learn about how the Galapagos turtles are raised and meet Jorge, the famous solitary turtle. The Scientific Station has its own beach that receives many visitors on weekends

Elizabeth Bay & Urbina Bay

AM: Elizabeth Bay is one of the few places from Galapagos Archipelago in which landing is forbidden. This happens because there is not a single place to stay in, and also to preserve the natural species of plants and animals living there. However, you can swim and play some water sports as a gift. Animals will be happy to welcome you to this water paradise

PM: After lunch, the next excursion is at the foot of Alcedo Volcano, south of Tagus Cove, is Urbina Bay, one of the best and the most recent example of geological uplift in the Galapagos. Uplifts occur when the molten materials beneath the surface shifts. In 1954 the shoreline was uplifted by nearly 15 feet (4 meters). The coastline was driven 3/4 of a mile further out to sea, exposing giant coral heads and stranding marine organisms on what was now on shore.

The visit begins with a wet landing on the white sand beach. The difficulty of the route varies by season. The trail ranges from stark and easily passable during the dry season to mildly challenging requiring wading to pass during the rainy season. Visitors cross the uplifted region learning about this geological wonder. Then reach the sandy area that was once the beach. Shorter visits return to the landing point on the same path, while longer visits continue past the coral heads and new beach.  Other highlights of this site include marine iguanas and some of the largest land iguanas in the islands, and Galapagos Cotton an endemic plant, historians believe the Incas brought to the islands, while naturalists theorize it floated across from Peru. 

Tagus Cove & Espinoza Point

AM: Tagus cove (Isabela Island) is situated directly east of Fernandina Island on the west coast of Isabela Island. It is a beautiful, well-protected cove sheltered by the shoulders of two volcanic craters and has been used as an anchorage for over 300 years. A nature trail here ascends through the typical dry vegetation zone and offers spectacular views of Darwin Lake, a saltwater crater lake and the long narrow inlet that appears to connect with it. At the top of the trail it is possible to observe the different vegetation zones, catch a glimpse of Darwin and Wolf volcanoes, and observe Galapagos Penguins, Flightless Cormorants and Pelicans. 

PM: After lunch, visit the Fernandina Island. which is the youngest and most active volcano in the Galapagos, with eruptions taking place every few years. The flat lava of Punta Espinosa offers a stark and barren landscape, but here flightless cormorants build their nests on the point, sea lions sprawl on the beach or play in the tide pools and large numbers of marine iguanas dot the sand. We also will have the opportunity to compare the Aa and Pahoehoe lava types here.

Espumilla Beach, Bucaaneer Coves, Salt Mines & Egas Port

AM: The day begins just a short distance beyond the tide pools and heads to the fur seal grotto. Fur seals and sea lions can be seen swimming in the rocky lava ringed pools. This may be the only opportunity visitors have to see and swim with fur seals. The crystal clear water, volcanic bridges, fur seals and sea lions make this a magnificent place for swimming and snorkeling. 

Visitors who now come to Espumilla Beach mostly do so in search of birds rather than water. A short walk inland takes visitors through a mangrove forest normally inhabited by the common stilt. Sea turtles also visit these mangroves to nest. Beyond the mangroves is a brackish lagoon where flocks of pink flamingos and white cheeked pintails can be seen. The trail makes a loop heading over a knob into a sparely forested area then back to the beach.

Less than an hour north of Puerto Egas, Buccaneer Cove served as a safe haven for pirates, sailors and whalers during the 18th and 19th century. Anchoring in the protected bay they were able to make much needed repairs to their ships while other men went ashore to stock up on salt, tortoises, fresh water and firewood. Several years ago ceramic jars were found at the bottom of the bay, the disregarded cargo of some mariner from years ago. Inside the jars were supplies of wine and marmalade.  

PM: After lunch, a visit to Puerto Egas begins with a wet landing on the dark sand beaches of James Bay. Taking a walk along the rocky coast offers visitors the opportunity to view some of the tide pools Galapagos Island's best . Sponges, snails, hermit crabs, barnacles and fish including the endemic four can be seen. The walk also presents visitors with a variety ofeyed blenny shore birds, marine iguanas, sally light foot crabs and sea lions.

AM: After your morning excursion, you will be assisted to Baltra airport for your flight to the mainland.

5 Day - Southern Islands

PM: The name is “Spanglish” for 'barges' which were wrecked offshore during World War II. A common first landing site, there is a delightful swimming beach here, with a lagoon behind, and a longer beach for a stroll and wildlife-watching. The saltwater lagoon behind often has great blue herons and small waders such as sanderlings and semi‐palmated plovers. Both beaches are nesting areas for green sea turtles, which leave tracks in the sand to the back of the beach, especially from November to February. A wet landing and open area on the beach mean one can explore at leisure.

South Plaza & Santa Fe

AM : Breakfast service followed by a visit to South Plaza. The rocky trail circumnavigates the island displaying the combination of dry and coastal vegetation zone. South Plaza has one of the largest populations of Land Iguanas in the Galapagos. The iguanas seem to be everywhere once you land. These larger than average yellow‐brown land iguanas feed on the fruit and pads of the prickly pear cactus. South Plaza is also home to Marine Iguanas living along the coast and a Hybrid Iguanas whose fathers are Marine Iguanas and mothers are Land Iguanas.

PM : Lunch service. Navigation to Santa Fe. Santa Fe was formed from an uplift (rather than a volcano) giving the island a relatively flat surface rather than the typical conical shape of the other islands. Visits to Santa Fe begin with a panga boat ride across the lovely turquoise lagoon. Once ashore you are brought into contact with one of the many sea lion colonies in the Galapagos. Bulls compete for the right of beach master while cows lounge in the sun. This evening dinner will be served as we navigate to San Cristobal.

Cerro Brujo, Kicker Rock & Lobos Island

AM:  One of the first sites visited by Charles Darwin, Cerro Brujo is a beautiful white sand beach where brown pelicans, blue‐footed boobies, sea lions, and marine iguanas are all found. An onshore version of nearby Kicker Rock, Cerro Brujo is a very striking, eroded tuff cone.

Also known as León Dormido, Kicker Rock is located off the coast of San Cristobal. It is the remains of a lava cone eroded by the sea, the two vertical rocks rising 500 feet from the ocean form a small channel that is navigable by small boats. This natural monument has become a favorite sight for cruises due to the many tropicbirds, frigates, and boobies that fill the surrounding air. Beneath the sea, the nearly crystal waters offer a brilliant show of colorful tropical fish and invertebrates.

PM:  Lobos Island, as its name suggests is famous for its population of sea lions and fur sea lions. You will also encounter a nesting ground for the great frigate bird and a small number of blue-footed boobies. At the breeding center, they explain the series of natural processes, such as volcanic eruption and marine current locations that have lead to the amazing islands that you are now visiting.

Punta Suarez, Gardner Bay, Gardner Islet & Osborn Islet

AM:  Arrival to Española Island, in the morning Punta Suarez, found on the western tip of Española, Punta Suarez offers great wildlife such as Sea Lions, sea birds, and the largest Marine Iguanas of Galapagos. This is one of the best sites in the Galapagos. The amount of wildlife is overwhelming. Along the beach, there are many Sea Lions and large, colorful Lava Lizards, and Marine Iguanas. As you follow the trail to the cliff's edge masked and blue-footed boobies can be found nesting among the rock formations. PM:  Visit Gardner Bay, this bay is a 45‐minute boat ride from Punta Suarez. It has a white sand beach and there is a small colony of sea lions. The possibilities for swimming or scuba diving are excellent here. Visitors find migrant, resident, and endemic wildlife including brightly colored Marine Iguanas, Española Lava Lizards, Hood Mockingbirds, Swallow-Tailed Gulls, Blue Footed, and Masked Boobies, Galapagos Hawks, a selection of Finch, and the Waved Albatross. Snorkel and go on a panga ride at Gardner Islet, and Osborn Islet snorkel once ore.

AM:  In the morning, explore the highlands of Santa Cruz which have incredible zones of vegetation. Visit the private estate “Las Primicias”. This reserve offers you one of the best possibilities to see the huge turtles of Santa Cruz Island in their natural habitat. You can observe them from very close. After your morning excursion, you will be assisted to Baltra airport for your flight to the mainland.

8 Day - Northern Islands

AM:  After arriving at Baltra airport you will be greeted by a representative of the vessel then board the Nemo II, enjoy a welcome drink, and have lunch.

PM:  Arrival at the airport in Baltra, reception by the cruising guide, and transfer to the yacht. Navigation to Seymour north of Baltra. The visitor trail on North Seymour is approximately (2 km) in length crossing the inland of the island and exploring the rocky coast. Along the way, the trail passes colonies of Blue‐Footed Boobies and Magnificent Frigatebirds. The Magnificent Frigatebird, a large black bird with a long wingspan, and a hooked beak is extremely fast and has excellent vision. Frigatebirds are known for the large red pouch on their necks. Boobies and Frigates share an interesting relationship. Sharing the same nesting area on North Seymour Blue‐ Footed Boobies nest on the ground making their nests from the twigs of the Palo Santos Trees, while the Magnificent Frigate bird nests just above them in the saltbushes.

Santa Cruz Highlands & Charles Darwin Research Center

AM:  The highlands of Santa Cruz have incredible zones of vegetation. There you will visit the private “Las Primicias”. This reserve offers you one of the best possibilities to see the huge turtles of Santa Cruz Island in their natural habitat. You can observe them from very close.

Moreno Point & Urbina Bay

AM:  A colorful part of any tour located on the western shore of Isabela, Punta Moreno is often the first or last stopping point on the island (depending on the direction the boat is heading). Punta Moreno is a place where the forces of the Galapagos have joined to create a work of art. The tour starts with a panga ride along the beautiful rocky shores where Galapagos penguins and shorebirds are frequently seen. After a dry landing, the path traverses through jagged black lava rock. 

As the swirling black lava flow gave way to form craters, crystal tide pools formed‐some surrounded by mangroves. This is a magnet for small blue lagoons, pink flamingos, blue herons, and Bahama pintail ducks. Brown pelican can be seen nesting in the green leaves of the mangroves. You can walk to the edge of the lava to look straight down on these pools including the occasional green sea turtle, white‐tipped shark, and pufferfish. This idyllic setting has suffered from the presence of introduced species. Feral dogs in the area are known to attack sea Lions and marine iguanas.

PM:  Lying at the foot of Alcedo Volcano, south of Tagus Cove, is Urvina Bay (Urbina Bay) one of the best and the most recent example of geological uplift in the Galapagos. A Disney film crew visited the site shortly afterward and discovered skeletons of sharks, sea turtles, and lobsters unable to find the ocean from the rapidly rising land. Schools of fish were found stranded in newly formed tide pools. Boulder sized coral heads can be seen near the area that once was the beach. The uplifting of Urbina Bay was followed by an eruption of Alcedo a few weeks later. Seasonally Urvina Bay provides a nesting area for many of the Galapagos creatures. Female tortoises journey down from Alcedo to lay their eggs in the sand. Galapagos penguins, flightless cormorants, and brown pelicans nest in the area as well.

Puerto Egas, Espumilla Beach & Buccaneer's Cove

AM:  A visit to Puerto Egas begins with a wet landing on the dark sand beaches of James Bay. The visit begins with a walk along the rocky coast allowing visitors to view some of the Galapagos Island's best tide pools. Sponges, snails, hermit crabs, barnacles, and fish including the endemic four‐eyed blenny can be seen. The walk also presents visitors with a variety of shorebirds, marine iguanas, sally lightfoot crabs, and sea lions. There are two interesting excursions normally visited from Puerto Egas. The first is a short walk from the landing site that brings visitors to the site of one of the Galapagos' first entrepreneur endeavors. For decades salt was extracted from a local salt crater. The industry was abandoned in the 1950s leaving behind a variety of rusted old machines and parts of buildings. The trail follows the path once used by wagon trains to the crater cone.

The steep trail is easy, but can often seem one of the hottest hikes in the islands. Feral goats prune the arid vegetation, which lines the trail. The goats feed on any leaf within reach leaving little left for the endemic island creatures. Bird lovers will be delighted with the opportunity to catch a glimpse of one of Darwin's finches, the endemic Galapagos hawk, or the colorful vermillion flycatcher. Finally reaching the crater rim presents an incredible vista. Looking into the crater you can see this extinct volcano whose floor has sunken below sea level. Saltwater seeps into the crater creating a small salt lake. The sun evaporates the water, leaving the salt that many have tried to mine without success.

Looking away from the crater are the older orange lava fields supporting vegetation including the palo santo trees and the younger desolate black lava fields. The second excursion begins just a short distance beyond the tide pools is the fur seal grotto. Fur seals and sea lions can be seen swimming in the rocky lava ringed pools. This may be the only opportunity visitors have to see and swim with fur seals. Fur seals were once hunted to near extinction for their coats. The Galapagos Fur Seal is the smallest of the fur seals found in the southern hemisphere, now compare in numbers with the sea lions. During the day they hide from the hot equatorial sun on shelves or caves of the rocky lava cliffs. At night they feed on squid and fish avoiding the sharks, which are their natural predator. The crystal clear water, volcanic bridges, fur seals, and sea lions make this a magnificent place for swimming and snorkeling.

Few boats stop at Buccaneers Cove today. Though many cruises by at a slow speed allowing visitors to view the cliffs made of tuff formations and the dark reddish‐purple sand beach. This dramatic landscape is made all the more impressive by the hundreds of seabirds perched atop the cliffs. Two of the more recognizable rock formations are known as the "monk" and "elephant rock". A large population of feral goats now frequents Buccaneers Cove and this portion of Santiago. The National Park Service has fenced off part of the area to protect the native vegetation from the destructive eating habits of this introduced species. A wet landing on the large coffee‐colored sand beach is just north of the prized fresh water supply that once attracted pirates and whalers.

Rabida Island & Sullivan Bay

AM: One of the special features of Rabida Island is its remarkable red color, which is a result of the high percentage of oxidized iron in the composition of lava. Here we will witness the nine varieties of finches also the large‐billed flycatchers and brown pelicans. Here a small salt‐water lagoon where Greater Flamingos can be seen and a beautiful colony of sea lions.

PM: The main attraction of this bay is the broad, pahoehoe, or rope lava flow. It is one of the most incredible places to compare the lava flows and their characteristics.

El Barranco & Darwin Bay

AM: Also known as Prince Phillips Steps, this is a demanding walk up a cliff, where tropicbirds, red‐footed boobies, and other nesting seabirds can be found. We follow the trail through a palo santo forest to a storm petrel colony passing boobies and great frigate birds along the way.

PM: Darwin Bay is the caldera of a collapsed volcano, we land on a small coral beach, where we take an easy walk. For those that want this will lead to a more demanding walk over lava rock. This will allow for stunning views from the cliffs and allow apple time and opportunity to photograph the amazing birdlife such as swallow‐tailed gulls, red-footed booby, Nazca booby, large ground finch, large cactus finch, sharp‐billed ground finch, small marine iguanas, and great frigate bird. Dinner at night and navigation to Daphne

AM : Among the central islands of the Galapagos Archipelago, Islas Daphne sits north of Isla Santa Cruz and west of Isla Baltra. Two islands known as Daphne Major and Daphne Minor, Islas Daphne is one of the more accessible Galapagos Islands.

After the morning excursion, you will be assisted to Baltra airport for your flight to the mainland.

8 Day - Southern Islands

An excellent way to begin learning about the islands, their origin, and their formation. You will learn about how the Galapagos turtles are raised and meet George, the famous solitary turtle. The Scientific Station has its own beach that receives many visitors on weekends. This evening dinner is served as we navigate to Floreana Island.

AM : Breakfast service. The visit to Cormorant Point offers two contrasting beaches. Arriving on shore you will encounter a green sand beach (the green sand is caused by the olivine crystals derived silicates or magnesium and iron). From here you will follow the trail leading to a lagoon where Pink Flamingoes and other shorebirds can be seen. If you look closely at the mud of this lagoon, there appear to be 'cracks' in the mud. These cracks are not caused by dryness but are actual flamingo footpaths. This is also a good spot for seeing Large‐Billed Flycatchers, Small‐Ground Finches, Medium‐Ground Finches, or Cactus Finches.

PM : Lunch service. Panga boat ride to Post Office Bay. Wet landing. Nature walk. Snorkeling from the beach. Arriving at Post Office Bay you will land on a brown sand beach, passing the sea lions lying in the sun. At the post barrel, the guide will pull a handful of letters for the group. Continuing the tradition, the letters are brought home with the traveler and then mailed to the addressee. Visitors also have the opportunity to send letters of their own. Dinner will be served as we navigate to Santiago Island.

Chinese Hat & Bartolomew Island

AM:  Visit Sombrero Chino, a tiny island just off the southeast tip of Santiago. Its name (Chinese Hat) describes the island's shape. Those visitors who travel to the island will find its special landscape worth the visit. Though centrally located it is one of the least visited sites in the area. National Park Service restrictions have limited the number of visitors to Sombrero Chino. Multi‐day cruises with 12 passengers or less are the only ones permitted at this site. The landing is on a beautiful crescent‐shaped white sand beach, home to Sea Lions and Sally Lightfoot Crabs. These sizeable cabins receive adequate natural light from the skylights and the small high-set rectangular windows. These air-conditioned rooms also feature several electrical outlets for your gadgets, a cupboard, a lamp, plus stylish private bathrooms with hot water, a wet-room style shower, and a toilet. Cabins #6 & #7.

Superior Cabin

The cabins are air-conditioned and furnished with a drawer and a cupboard to ensure you can fit items. The cabin comes with an ensuite bathroom equipped with hot water, a wet-room style shower, and a toilet. The windows are small skylights allowing in natural light. Cabins #1 & #2 have a double bed, while Cabins #3 & #4 can also have an additional bed for a third person and Cabin #5 features a bunk bed for two people.

It is necessary to fly to Guayaquil or Quito first. After the cruise, you can fly back to either city. Booking the domestic air to/from the Islands together with the Galapagos Cruise is highly recommended. Remember that all flight schedules are subject to change at the Airlines’ discretion without notice.

Flights commonly leave around 9 am to the islands, although this can vary by up to two hours. Return flights are around 2 pm, and can vary by 2 hours either way. We did the Northern itinary (including Genovesa) 8 days cruise on Nemo II. As there are not so much reviews (when i searched) i'll put one myself maybe it will help you decide.

The booking: we booked online and had a lot of contact with Monica. Make sure you agree about the payment method and that everything is clear before paying as for exemple: if you pay by banktransfer and the money is not on time on the bancaccount of the company...what happens than?

The boat: It´s a really nice catamaran. We stayed in cabin 3 wich was quit big (cabin 6 and 7 are the smallest ones with bunkbeds). Cabin 3 is located in front of the kitchen so i was awake very earlie when the cook started to make breakfast. There is an common space but watching movies was not possible as the cable didn't work. (?!). We ate outside every day: there are two tables so 6 people at one table and 6 at the other one. We were 5 couples so it was divided 5-5. Don´t except it to sail without motor on because it won't. According to our guide they are not allowed to do that but apparently he was lying about it because we asked to other agency and that's not through.

The crew: they were friendlym didn´t interact that much with the guests but they helped everytime we had a question/request. They clean the cabin every day.

The food: excellent! There were also a lot of snacks. Juices...at dinner they serve water. Coffee-tea available all day. You can buy beer (3$) wine (30-40$)...

Wetsuits are available but watch out: my size (XL) run out so the first day i didn't have a wetsuit. Maybe they should ask the sizes in advance and make sure there are enough wetsuits for everyone.

The guide: we had Oswaldo and sad enough, we (and also the other guests) were not satisfied of him for different reasons:

- he really gave us the impression he was fed up with this job and that he didn't like tourists at all!

- he didn't give a lot of explanation and when he did, he was not really passionate about it.

- he wasn't enthousiastic at all and we only saw him during the activities. Before and after he dissapeared in his cabin. He never asked us if we slept well, or goodmorning and goodnight was too much to say. (for example: we had to wait a long time for the other guests to arrive at the airport: he could have had a chat with us but he didn't at all. He didn't ask us anything while we saw other guids talking and making jokes with the guests while waiting for the other ones)

We didn't exept him to become friend with us but a little more interest in the guests would really be nice. The most important thing was the explenation during the land-activities: when we asked questions he always answered but the explanation he gave was really shirt (comparing with the other guides we passed: they were explaining a lot). What we liked was that he didn't ask u to stay together:when somebody was taking pictures or was behind he didn't complain or pushed us to follow him really close...(but maybe that was more out of desinteress as well, like he didn't really cared what we did.) the negative side of this was that if you were behind and he explained something, you didn't hear what he was talking about. Maybe he could have find a system by explaining in the beginning to the whole group or in the middle or at the end but when everybody was there...that is more efficient.

- he didn't always join us during the snorkling (wich i didn't mind at all but he told us he was actually not allowed to join us because he had to stay in the dingy to be able to act fast if there is a problem: according to another agancy:this is not true...

There was a couple on the boat who were there on there honeymoon. They have been told when they booked the cruise that they would receive a special present. They didn't until they asked about it on the last 5 minutes of the cruise ...the guide just replied by saying "ow...we forgot about it...here, a bottle of wine". This is ridicoulous. Or they shouldn't ask or say that you would get a present or they have to make sure that you get a present in the beginning of the cruise (if the present is a bottle of wine wich i doubt...) but what happened now was really stupid. And they couldn't have forgotton it as they asked the first day of the cruise to everyone of the group to present ourselves and to explain why we are on this cruise and the couple did say they were on their honeymoon...so they knew it!

The last horrible thing is that you get envelopes for tipping the crew and the guide (two different envelopes with the cabinnumber on the envelop: why not anonymous?) and you get an evaluation form you have to fill in immediatly. Apparently before getting of the boat (to go to the airport) the guide opened all the envelopes to see what everyone gave as a tip and he read all the evaluation forms. The whole way to the airport he was grumpy and when we asked why he was so upsaid he said he read the evaluation forms and wasn´t happy about that and the tips. But this was not the worst thing: when saying goodbye to the group he told 1 couple that he wanted to speak to them and they had to justify their tip and their evaluation ??? How professional is that ??? He even wanted to give them their money back because the tip was not enough and because they wrote a bad review so according to him he didn't deserve this tip.

We were all chocked! This is something you really don't do. Even when your evaluation isn't good you have to stay professional and stay friendly to the guests and not leaving them with a bad feeling...that's my opinion...The girl was really feeling bad about it (also because he only wanted to talk to them and not to the others who also did write a 'bad' review about him) so this is not a nice ending of a cruise .

So Nemo II : everything was more than okay except for the guide. But he told us he would stop working for Nemo II so normally you will not have him as a guide again. Don't get me wrong: he wasn't a "bad" person but his guiding did ruin a little bit our experience. It's was really sad that he wasn't enthousiastic as this has an effect on everybody. We were lucky we had a nice group and tried to be enthousiastic in his place but still...

Disappointing review - especially as we are travelling on Nemo II later on in the year.

A big part of having a good experience is the people you meet and most importantly in the case is having a good guide in charge of the group, because this is not about a day tour, this is about a 8 or 5 day journey that people are paying for.

I am going on the Nemo II in a few days and will be posting a very positive review. I am sure of that as this is a once in a lifetime trip for me and I think it is for most people too. I also worked with Monica for all of my reservations and she was great, answered all of my questions and followed up with emails.

It is to bad that the guide didn't work out for the group above. I am sure there are a lot of local people with the talent, training and personality to do a great job as a guide.

note that I booked on the Nemo II because of a very positive review. It is just not posted here it is posted elsewhere on trip advisor for the Galapagos Islands reviews. So I wouldnt be worried at all.

I look forward to your review. We have also had very positive dealings so far with Monica relating to our upcoming trip on Nemo II.
