RBD's Soy Rebelde Tour: Everything we know about the reunion shows

RBD on the opening night of their Soy Rebelde Tour.

The red ties and blazers have officially come out now that RBD kicked off their reunion tour!

Dulce María, Christian Chávez, Anahí, Christopher von Uckermann and Maite Perroni took the stage on Aug. 25 at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas, to play their first concert in almost 15 years.

“I am so excited, I can’t believe it,” Dulce María told TODAY.com in Spanish over the phone about the upcoming tour. “I’m emotional ... and I’m just as excited as everyone, the Rebelde generation.”

After teasing a possible reunion last year, the Mexican pop group announced their Soy Rebelde Tour (which translates to I'm a Rebel) on. Jan. 19. The group shared the exciting news on their group’s social media, along with the tour dates for their 2023 concerts. RBD is set to visit cities in the U.S., Mexico and Brazil.

Days after the announcement was made, several additional dates were added as fans' excitement grew, including a special final stop in Mexico City at the end of the year.

Additionally on Aug. 17, TODAY.com also exclusively premiered their new song , “Cerquita De Ti.”

The Spanish song is a nostalgia-filled track about being there for one another despite being far away and having a long-lasting connection.

Now that the tour has started and scheduled to go on until the end of 2023, if you're looking for RBD tickets and how to catch them in your city, here's everything you need to know.

When did RBD reunite?

Talks about a reunion tour started when RBD’s music was released on streaming platforms in 2020, followed by a virtual concert in December of that year that included Anahí, Chávez, von Uckermann and Perroni.

Dulce María had just given birth and was unable to join her former bandmates. “Ozark” actor Alfonso Herrera was also an original member of the group, but has previously expressed that he’s focused on his acting career.

“Finally the stars aligned,” Dulce María told TODAY.com, adding that the reunion tour happened at the perfect time. “The five of us got together for this great announcement, these shows that we are going to do. We’ve had the intention of doing this tour for years but it got difficult to get everyone together and our schedules to align.”

Dulce María teased nostalgia and good times, telling TODAY.com, “We’re going to give the best versions of ourselves. It’s going to be filled with nostalgia, with the songs that we and our fans grew up listening to.”

Personally, she was excited to sing “No Pares” (“Don’t Stop”), which is a very special song for her. “It’s a song about hope,” she said. “We’ve all been through many difficult moments, and it’s about fighting for what you want and believe and to never stop dreaming.”

What's the history of RBD?

RBD was a creation of the popular Mexican telenovela “Rebelde,” which premiered in 2004. The teen show followed a group of students at the prestigious Elite Way School who formed the musical band RBD. The on-screen group would go on to become one of the best-selling Latin acts, selling over 15 million records worldwide.

During their time together, they released five studio albums. They also earned two Latin Grammy nominations. RBD disbanded in March 2009.

To this day, fans have held out hope that they would one day reunite — especially after Bad Bunny name-dropped them in one of his 2022 songs and did a TikTok singing to “Sálvame” and Anahí responded. Karol G also invited Anahí to sing the hit song at one of her concerts.

Dulce María said “It’s incredible” that a new generation of fans has discovered their music and younger artists have expressed their love for RBD.

“It definitely shocked us and (made it clear) that people wanted us to reunite,” she said, noting that this tour is a one-time event and they don’t have plans to tour for years. “But seeing all (of the fans’ messages), people sharing our music, talking about our telenovela characters, and what our group means to people has been awesome.”

All the love from everyone, she said, only reaffirmed that they owed it to their fans to give them one last wild ride as a thank you.

“It’s confirmed that what we’re doing is important and beyond our current projects and personal lives,” she said. “We just want to share this with our fans one last time.”

RBD Reunion Tour

RBD is back and bigger than ever for their much-anticipated “Soy Rebelde” world tour. The Mexican pop group will once again take the stage for a global trek across 26 cities in North, Central, and South America starting in August.

The tour, produced by Live Nation , will celebrate the rich 20-year history of RBD, which started as a fictional band in the hit television drama “Rebelde” from 2004 to 2006. Tickets for all dates will go on sale simultaneously on Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. in the United States and Brazil, and at 2 p.m in Mexico.

The tour will kick off at the Sun Bowl stadium in El Paso, Texas, located at the U.S./Mexico border, and will continue to stadiums in Dallas, Houston, Chicago, and Los Angeles, as well as arenas like Madison Square Garden in New York, Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and Viejas Arena in San Diego. In Mexico, they will play the Foro Sol in Mexico City, while Allianz Park in Sao Paulo and the Olympic Stadium in Río de Janeiro will host RBD in Brazil.

RBD manager Guillermo Rosas is vowing to deliver an “epic show” from band members are Anahí, Dulce María, Maite Perroni, Christian Chávez, and Christopher Uckermann.

“RBD is a cultural movement that has impacted two generations across the globe,” Rosas, who is executive producer of the tour, tells Variety . “I have been part of RBD since its first international tour in 2006 and for me to see the magic awaken again is a dream come true. We are beyond excited to put this show on the road and let the creativity flow.”

Until their disbandment in 2009, RBD released nine studio albums in Spanish, Portuguese and English, and performed sold-out shows all over the world as one of the top-selling Latin acts. It’s been more than a decade since RBD’s last in-person concert (the group reunited for a virtual show in 2020), and when the news of a potential reunion tour began buzzing, the demand from fans was obvious as hashtags like #RBDTour2023 began flooding social media.

“It’s so weird because it has been 15 years and the music was not there, the videos weren’t there. It’s really weird that we’re getting all this attention from people again, but it’s also amazing,” Chávez said in an interview with ET at the time. “Every one of us is so excited about it and it shows us that pop music is still there, and the rebels are still there but in different generations.”

The Return of RBD: Beloved Mexican Pop Group Announces Massive Tour

By Tomás Mier

Almost 20 years ago, the members of RBD came together for the first time on the Mexican telenovela  Rebelde . Quickly, the series — which followed teens who formed a band at a fictional private school — became a household staple, propelling the group’s members to make the show’s band a real thing. RBD eventually became a sensation and a pop culture staple for many Latinos.

On Thursday, 15 years after RBD went on hiatus, the beloved Mexican pop group announced that they’re officially heading on a stadium and arena tour this fall, energizing longtime fans and new generations who discovered RBD after the band’s music became available on streaming services during the pandemic.

RBD’s five returning members — Dulce Maria, Anahi, Maite Perroni, Christian Chavez, and Christopher von Uckermann — caught up with Rolling Stone ahead of their tour announcement and shared why now is the perfect time for a reunion. “Our group is more than friends. They’re family,” Von Uckermann says. “We want to end this journey in such a loving way.” (RBD was originally made up of six members, but Alfonso Herrera, known more recently from Ozark, is not returning.)

“Regardless of how different each of us is, something bigger brings us together. It’s the love, the sisterhood,” Dulce adds. “We want to bring back this love that people have given us: We’re not stopping the dreams, and it’s something beautiful.”

Anahí, known for her role as Mia Colucci, and who joined Karol G during her stop in Mexico City to perform “Sálvame,” says the reunion is aimed at giving back to the group’s longest-lasting fans. “It’s been beautiful to know that people keep the group in their hearts,” she tells Rolling Stone . “To live this moment with my fellow members is pure magic.”

For Chavez, reuniting with RBD has an even more personal meaning. He’ll be able to take the stage fully embracing his identity as a queer person after feeling like he had to hide it during RBD’s success. Now, Chavez is ready to be “completely myself” on this new tour.

“I’m excited to shine as a genderfluid, queer person onstage,” he says. “While in RBD, I was fighting to be myself, to love how I wanted to love. I came out and sacrificed, perhaps, a better professional life.”

In 2007, as RBD was on a North American tour, Chavez was forced to come out after he was blackmailed by a tabloid that had acquired photos of his wedding ceremony to ex-husband B.J. Murphy. He had previously denied identifying as gay for fear of what his identity might do to his career . “I love to see how people don’t have to go through what I did,” he says of how much acceptance for the gay community has changed over the years. “I love seeing how new generations don’t care what other people think.”

But Perroni is set and committed to this project “ al 100 %.” “I would have never signed up for this if I couldn’t be there,” she says. And though welcoming her baby will be the “most important moment of my life,” she has her mind set on touring with the group. “I’m about to share a stage with my brothers and sisters. We’re back together and we’re filled with energy as we go into this,” she says. “I’m ready to live this euphoria.”

As for Von Uckermann, who focused on his acting career after RBD disbanded, he says he “never imagined” that returning to the group being part of his journey, but that now he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“There was a lot of learning and we represented something so large,” he says. “Doing this is our way of ending this cycle and thanking our fans, who after years, continue to listen to the music. We want to allow new generations, who never went to the shows, to see us perform.”

RBD returns! Mexican pop group announces 'Soy Rebelde' comeback tour

rbd tours

Nearly 20 years since its debut, RBD is proving that great music is  para siempre .

The Mexican pop group – comprised of Dulce María , Anahí , Maite Perroni , Christian Chávez  and Christopher von Uckermann ( "Ozark" star Alfonso Herrera will not be joining his bandmates) – will embark on its first tour since disbanding in 2009.

The “Soy Rebelde Tour,” which kicks off at the Sun Bowl stadium in El Paso, Texas, in August, will see the band perform in 26 cities across the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

“ It’s a new era that makes us really excited , and it’s a new opportunity to share the stage once again and feel a unique energy,” RBD member and actor Perroni told Billboard. “There’re cycles in life and each one of us had to focus on our careers as actors and musicians, and that meant we had to give those projects time, energy and a lot of dedication.”

The band catapulted to fame in 2004 alongside the Spanish-language teen drama “Rebelde,” which starred the group's members.

Women like Karol G, Natti Natasha, Becky G and Anitta are transforming reggaeton. Here's how.

Perroni added: “Now, the time (for the reunion) is perfect because we’re now more conscious, more mature. We’ll enjoy it from a different perspective now as adults.”

RBD released five studio albums during its five-year run, as well as recorded albums in English and Portuguese. The band’s final album, “Para Olvidarte de Mí” (To Forget About Me),  peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums chart .

“Rebelde,” the show that spawned the band, followed the music-loving students attending Elite Way School, a fictional prestigious boarding school in Mexico. The show ran from 2004-2006 and in 2022, Netflix rebooted the series for a new generation of viewers.

Von Uckermann told Rolling Stone that while he “never imagined” returning to RBD , he now sees the band’s impact differently.

“There was a lot of learning, and we represented something so large,” Von Uckermann told the outlet. “Doing this is our way of ending this cycle and thanking our fans, who after years, continue to listen to the music. We want to allow new generations, who never went to the shows, to see us perform.”

Tickets will go on sale Jan. 27 at SoyRebelde.World .

The Return Of RBD: The Mexican Pop Sensation That Shaped A Generation

How a fictional band became the epicenter of ‘00s Latin music.

Much has been said about the rise of Latin American music to the global stage. In recent years, artists hailing from the region have broken records , toured the world, and dropped ubiquitous, history-making earworms . But long before success was measured through streaming numbers, TikTok virality, or even a large social media following, one Mexican group carved its name in pop culture, going down in history as one of the most successful Latin American acts of all time. RBD, the six-member band originally formed as a part of the Mexican telenovela Rebelde (2004), birthed a phenomenon idolized by an entire generation — and soon, you’ll be hearing a lot from them.

Come August 2023, the group will embark on a highly-anticipated reunion tour with stopovers in the United States, Mexico, Brazil and Colombia. And just like that, fans will have the one-of-a-kind opportunity — one that many thought would never happen again — of watching the music sensation that marked their youth and became the epicenter of Latin pop in the 2000s.

GLENDALE, AZ - FEBRUARY 01: RBD performs during the Pepsi Musica Super Bowl Fiesta at the Jobings.c...

RBD rose to fame with the release of their debut album, Rebelde , which featured the original soundtrack of the eponymous TV show. Based on the Argentinian telenovela Rebelde Way , created by hit-maker Cris Morena, the series followed a group of students attending the exclusive Elite Way School as they overcame their differences through music. Starring singers and actors Anahí (Mia), Dulce María (Roberta), Maite Perroni (Lupita), Christopher Von Uckermann (Diego), Christian Chávez (Giovanni), and Alfonso “Poncho” Herrera (Miguel), the show aired from 2004 to 2006, reaching teens across the Americas and Eastern Europe.

As a band, RBD delivered pop anthems that young people at that time turned into the soundtrack of their childhood and teenage years. Hit songs like “ Sálvame ,” “ Sólo Quédate en Silencio ,” and “ Nuestro Amor ” tackled topics like love and heartbreak, believing in oneself, and teenage angst, buoyed by catchy hooks, guitar riffs and punchy pop sounds. Their songs broke records and topped charts across the world, even though they existed in the show’s fictional timeline. Rebelde eventually came to an end in 2006, but the sextet continued to tour the Americas and Europe and release albums (including Portuguese and English records) until 2008, when they disbanded without citing causes. As the years went by, the members would bring up burnout, contractual disputes and individual career aspirations as some of the reasons behind their abrupt separation.

At its height, RBD was selling over 10 million albums worldwide (some even argue the number surpassed 15 million ) and it took no time before press and fans coined a term for their explosive popularity: the “Rebelde Phenomenon.” The band’s overarching influence went beyond its successful music career — over their five-year career they amassed seven Billboard Latin Music Awards, 21 Premios Lo Nuestro, five multi-platinum RIAA certifications, and more — to also shape the fashion sensibilities of a generation.

During its Rebelde era, RBD sported iconic uniform styles that reflected their characters’ roles on the show. Miu Miu-esque microskirts, blazers, red ties, and denim quickly became the signature look of the band and its followers. (If you need to paint an image, you can scroll down the “ Rebelde costume ” searches on TikTok—which surpasses seven billion views at the time of this publication.) They were also torchbearers of Y2K fashion. Flaunting six different personalities, the group members popularized noughties staples for all tastes: from pastel-colored outfits fitted for Paris Hilton to edgier ensembles that channeled the growing pop-punk wave.

“RBD was a watershed,” says Azahel Marmolejo , a Mexican publicist and fashion producer, of the group’s influence. “They always set trends. They always imposed fashion. They always had accessories or some stylistic element in their outfits that made people follow them.”

Marmolejo points to the star decal actress Anahí’s character, Mía Colucci, frequently wore on her forehead. “Suddenly you could find fashion editorials with [models wearing] stars on the face, or you saw girls who also wanted to imitate her, sporting that star,” he says.

Dulce Maria Espinoza Savinon and Jose Christian Chavez Garza of RBD at the Honda Center in Anaheim, ...

But the phenomenon ran deeper. While RBD attracted fanfare with their music and style, it was their relatability and underlying message of believing in yourself and standing up for your dreams that made people stay and sympathize.

Reminiscing about RBD’s early days and what made people connect with them, Maite Perroni, one of the vocalists of the group, says, “The first time we left Mexico to hold a concert was [to go to] Colombia and we couldn't believe that the stadium was completely full. Music is a universal language. During each concert, we delivered messages of peace, of believing in [our] dreams, of equality and respect.”

Fans of the band also remember RBD as one of the first major forces in pop culture to bring up conversations about sexual identity, body image, and mental health. Anahí, who started her career as a child actor and endured the pressures of the industry from a young age, shared testimonials about battling eating disorders. Meanwhile, in 2007, member Christian Chávez became the first high-profile Mexican celebrity to come out as gay after pictures of his wedding were made public.

“This set of [announcements] resonated with the way teens at that time regarded the world,” says Alejandro Puga , a pop culture expert and entertainment journalist.

Fashion designer Jesús de la Garsa , a self-proclaimed RBD fanatic, echoes that sentiment: “We all knew that Christian Chávez was a person from the [LGBTQI+] community at a time when society was not so open yet. [Knowing] made us feel empathetic and at some level, understood.”

Nineteen years after the group’s debut, it is this meaningful connection with fans that has kept the RBD’s legacy alive and as a topic of discussion in the years since, despite the breakup in 2008 and the members following individual pursuits.

“Of course, RBD set trends. Of course, they marked a generation that started change,” de la Garsa says. “The truth is that they were way ahead of their time.“

“RBD was a watershed. They always set trends. They always imposed fashion.”

Today, RBD’s influence touches even the biggest Latinx stars. On his 2022 hit “ Me Porto Bonito ”—the first all-Spanish-language song to achieve No. 1 on Billboard ’s Streaming Songs chart — Bad Bunny nods to the group, singing, “Pa' los 2000 escuchaba RBD” (In the 2000s [she] listened to RBD.) Similarly, Colombian singer J Balvin drops the name of Anahí’s character, Mia Colucci, on a remix of Ty Dolla Sign’s “ Spicy .”

In 2022, Karol G went the extra mile and brought Anahí onstage at one of her shows in Mexico. For the occasion, the singers sauntered down memory lane, sporting matching pink cowboy hats, similar to the one Anahí popularized through the music video for “Sálvame.” “I literally played her songs, laid in bed and cried until I couldn't anymore because I thought that never in my life would I have the opportunity to meet her,” Karol G told the crowd that night.

Fans of the group can empathize. For years, it seemed RBD would remain a thing of the past. But when their upcoming tour sold out within 24 hours — a surefire sign of RBD’s second coming — it became clear the Rebelde Phenomenon was far from over.

“Young people identified with RBD’s non-urban representation of Latin music,” says Puga about what their long-awaited return means to fans. “As many of their fans have stepped into adulthood, they miss that music craze and youthful rebellion. It also marks the return of five entertainment faces to the top of the top. Anahí, Dulce María, Maite, Christian, and Christopher kept thriving in their individual careers, but together, RBD exceeds A-plus status.”

For Perroni, the opportunity to finally stand on stage with her bandmates this fall and meet fans after so many years is a gift.

“It's going to be magical,” she says. “I want this tour to be a maximum celebration of the Rebelde generation. I want fans to sing, to dance, to scream, and enjoy what we are preparing for them.”

This summer, RBD is set to kick off its Soy Rebelde Tour , marking a highly awaited comeback for the group almost 20 years later.

The 26-date trek, produced by Live Nation, will find original members Anahí, Dulce María, Christian Chavez, Maite Perroni and Christopher von Uckermann visiting fans in Mexico, Brazil, and the U.S. across 10 stadiums and 16 arenas. (Alfonso Herrera will not join his bandmates.)

“It’s a new era that makes us really excited and it’s a new opportunity to share the stage once again and feel a unique energy […] Now, the time [for the reunion] is perfect because we’re now more conscious, more mature, we’ll enjoy it from a different perspective now as adults,” Perroni previously told Billboard .

The group’s last tour grossed a total of $72.5 million and sold more than 1.5 million tickets, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. With their 2023 stint — which will kick off in El Paso, Texas, at the Sun Bowl Stadium on Aug. 25 — RBD hope to “close a cycle of our lives that was so important and so spectacular,” according to Perroni.

“Our intention this time around is to enjoy it to the fullest, to share, thank everyone and have some sort of closure that I don’t think we had last time around. We had a goodbye tour back then, but it didn’t feel like we really said goodbye,” she noted.

While the beloved RBD fandom prepares its Elite Way School uniform-inspired concert ‘fit, the Billboard Latin team curated a dream tour setlist featuring 11 of RBD’s biggest Billboard hits. See the list below:

RBD

“Rebelde”—the official theme song of the 2004 hit telenovela—marked RBD’s first-ever entry on the Hot Latin Songs chart on April 9, 2005. We can already imagine everyone at the venue singing the rebellious chorus full blast: “And I am a rebel when I don’t follow others.”

"Solo Quédate En Silencio"

A mid-tempo pop song that narrates the story of a couple who’s breaking up, “Solo quédate en silencio” (Just stay in silence) became RBD’s first Top 10 hit on the Hot Latin Songs chart. The heartfelt track peaked at No. 1 on the chart dated Oct. 1, 2005.

"Nuestro Amor"

Peaking at No. 6 on the Hot Latin Song chart dated Feb. 4, 2006, “Nuestro Amor” is a pop-rock jam that spotlights a love story that is simple and sweet. “Everything was like in a dream/In our love everything is happening/And it is so, so it is/And there is nothing to do,” they chant in the chorus.

"Aún Hay Algo"

“Aún Hay Algo” is about an unforgettable old love with the hope of getting back together. “If you ever think of me/Maybe when you see me you get happy/maybe there’s still some love between the two of us,” RBD sings on the track that debuted in the Hot Latin Songs chart on March 18, 2006.

"Este Corazón"

With lyrics such as: “And this heart that you stole when you left/You left with my kisses/With my kisses and my dreams/And this heart is beating slower and slower,” RBD dropped a full-on heartbreak song that ultimately debuted No. 10 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated July 29, 2006.

"Ser o Parecer"

RBD

The lyrics in “Ser o Parecer” can easily connect with any hopeful romantic. “I know that the heart beats stronger, more than an engine/And although you don’t know anything about me/One day I will reach you, love,” they chant. The track earned RBD its first No. 1 hit on Dec. 6, 2006, for two weeks.

“Dame,” which entered the Hot Latin Songs chart on February 10, 2007, is all about determination and conquering your crush. “Give me a chance/Give me just a sign/Give me a little faith/Give me your first kiss/Give me everything you have,” the Mexican group belt in the lyrics.

"Besame Sin Miedo"

Just like “Dame,” “Besame Sin Miedo” (kiss me without fear) is also about taking a risk in love. “Come, kiss me without fear, with your heart/Give me a kiss that takes me to the sun/Kiss me without fear, without explanation/Give me a kiss that fills me with your love,” says the chorus.

"Inalcanzable"

In the nostalgic ballad “Inalcanzable,” which hit No. 6 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated Dec. 22, 2007, RBD chants about unrequited love. “Unreachable as a star so distant/an almost impossible love/Invisible as air, you’re so unreachable/As sublime as an angel/an almost impossible love,” they sing.

"Empezar Desde Cero"

A feel-good bop, “Empezar Desde Cero,” which loosely translated to “starting from scratch,” the track that entered the Billboard charts on April 26, 2008, is about a person who’s willing to change “everything I am and what I was” to make a relationship last.

RBD

One of RBD’s most iconic tracks, “Sálvame” is a heartfelt ballad about a broken heart that yearns to be saved. The track recently debuted at No. 15 on the Latin Pop Digital Song Sales chart in June 2022, the same month Karol G and RBD’s Anahí performed it together during Karol’s Bichota Tour in Mexico.

5 Rebelde Looks We Love From RBD’s Tour

rbd tours

It’s 2023 and RBD is back! 15 years after their final farewell tour, the Mexican Pop group consisting of Anahí, Dulce María, Christian Chávez , Christopher von Uckermann, and Maite Perroni are reuniting on stage for the 2023 Soy RBD tour . The tour includes shows in North America and Latin America, setting off waves of nostalgic feelings and fits from fans across all generations.

Rebelde , the Mexican telenovela that first aired in 2004, follows the lives of six teenagers attending a prestigious boarding school outside of Mexico City called Elite Way School. The six students who have distinct differences, come together to form a band. Aside from dramatic antics and the not-always-relatable-but-entertaining socio-economic probs, Rebelde was a true champion of self-expression.

While the series had its fair share of questionable outfit pairings, the characters were unapologetic about their style and forms of expression. The cool but impossible school uniforms , Giovanny’s spiky and fluorescent hair colors, and Roberta’s patterned sleeves and pop-punk influence – the cast and the band were true trendsetters throughout every episode.

So whether you’re trying to channel Roberta Pardo’s rockin’ rebel vibe or tap into Mia Colucci’s ‘it girl’ style, these five Soy RBD concert trends are on theme for the comeback tour of the century .

Elite Way School Uniform

Let’s face it, nobody really followed the school dress code at Elite Way School. While the ensemble consisted of a bright red blazer, a white button-down shirt with a tie, and a pleated mini skirt, the students found a way to… rebel against this dress code and give the uniform their own twist. Embrace the uniform, but don’t be afraid to re-invent the corbata or pair it with combat or knee-high boots.

Pink on Pink on Pink

Mia-Colucci-pink walked so Barbiecore could run. The color pink was a dominating force in Colucci’s style. Whether she was sporting a full-on monochromatic ensemble on stage or adding a pink accessory (like a Motorola Razr in her boot) to her outfits. Embrace the color, and don’t leave your pink cowboy hat at home.

Star-shaped stickers, gems and rhinestones

Colucci’s forehead star was a staple accessory and one that we could all adopt in our early Rebelde fan-girling days. Wear the sticker on your forehead and bring on the bling with rhinestones and gems to frame your eyeshadow and add a level of glitz to any RBD look.

Embrace the Y2K

The Y2K fashion revival has long reached mainstream fashion, but the Soy Rebelde  tour is the perfect time to tap into the time warp. Embrace the low-cut jeans and skirts, and pair them with a low-slung belt and patterned or meshed arm sleeves. Bring your rose-colored sunnies and an unconventional heel and you’re ready to rock the next Elite Way School reunion – or the Soy Rebelde concert!

Friendship bracelets

One of the novelty accessories for the Soy Rebelde  tour are the customizable DIY friendship bracelets stacked to create a wrist (or arm!) full of color and personality. Both Pardo and Colucci wore stacked bracelets in the series as a casual accessory, and now concert-goers are making their own bracelets and trading them in with other fans .

Red Square & Moscow City Tour

Description

Highlights:.

  • Experience medieval Kitay Gorod (China town).
  • Wander picturesque Red Square and Alexander Garden.
  • Explore grand Christ the Savior Cathedral on our Red Square tour.
  • Breathtaking panoramic views from Patriarch bridge.
  • Enjoy a hearty lunch on the large open verandah and marvel at the stunning views of the Kremlin.
  • Learn about Russian culture from the local through relaxed cultural discussions.

Tour Itinerary:

Red square:.

Russia and Moscow are synonymous with Red Square and the Kremlin and that's hardly surprising as you'll find these places absolutely stunning!

  • - Walk-through the Resurrection Gate and don’t forget to flip a coin so you’ll be sure to come back one day!
  • - Visit the world's famous Kazan Cathedral .
  • - See the State Department Store (GUM), once the Upper Trading Stalls, which were built over a century ago and still operating!
  • - Admire the lovely St. Basil's Cathedral! The French diplomat Marquis de Custine commented that it combined "the scales of a golden fish, the enamelled skin of a serpent, the changeful hues of the lizard, the glossy rose and azure of the pigeon's neck" and wondered at "the men who go to worship God in this box of confectionery work".
  • - Walk by Lobnoye Mesto (literally meaning "Execution Place", or "Place of Skulls"), once Ivan the Terrible's stage for religious ceremonies, speeches, and important events.
  • - Entering the Alexander Garden , you’ll take in spectacular views of Russian architecture from ancient to Soviet times, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with an eternal flame. Watch Changing of the Guard Ceremony every hour in summer and every half an hour in winter.

Kitai-gorod:

Stroll along medieval Kitai-gorod with its strong ancient Russia feel, known for its bohemian lifestyle, markets and arts.

  • - Nikolskaya Street. Here you will find the Russia's first publishing house, the second oldest monastery, and Ferryn Pharmacy, known as the number one pharmacy back in Soviet times and famous for its Empire-style architecture.
  • - Ilinka Street. The financial street of the Kitaigorod (China Town) district, where you’ll find the Gostiny Dvor (Merchant’s Yard), which is now a showroom for Ferraris and Maseratis. The street was designed in the 1790s by Catherine the Great.
  • - Varvarka street. The oldest street in Moscow, which dates back to the 14th century, and still has remnants of early Muscovite architecture, such as the Old English Court and the Palace of the Romanov’s.
  • - Kamergersky Lane. Only a small road of about 250 meters, it is home to some of the oldest artifacts of the city, as each building holds a fascinating story. Some of Russia's most famous writers, poets, and composers from as far back as the Golden Age of Russian culture, have lived or worked on this lane.

Historic City Center

Walk the historical old center of Moscow with its cool local vibe, including the main Tverskaya street , and indulge in desserts in the first grocery “Eliseev's store” , housed in an 18th century neoclassical building, famous for its baroque interior and decoration.

From our tour. Impressions of our American tourist:

At 3:30, as energy flagged, lunch was on the agenda at a Ukrainian restaurant.  Just in time!  We asked our guide to order for us.  We all had the same thing....borscht (the Ukrainian version has beans and more tomatoes than the Russian version, which has more beets and includes beef).

The special high bread served is called galushki.  Our main course was golubtsy...a dish of minced meat rolled in braised cabbage leaves.  Both dishes called for optional sour cream as a topping....of course, yes, please....I recommend it.

Full, satisfied, and completely refreshed, it was off to Red Square and St. Basil's and GUM department store.  Red Square is not so named because of the color of the brick walls of the Kremlin.  Rather the word for 'red' and the word for 'beautiful' are similar in pronunciation....and, there you have it.

As we made the turn by the National Museum in front of which is the mounted sculpture of the "Marshall of Victory," Giorgy Zhukov from WWII and caught our first view of St. Basil's, my friend and I simultaneously emitted "Oooohhhhh!"  There it was....the iconic onion domes of St. Basil's!  Hooray....it was open until 7....we had about 30 minutes and were allowed in, AND we could take photos with no flash.

Now, I can give you a taste of what we saw in the other cathedrals in Cathedral Square.  What we learned is that St. Vasily and St. Basil are one in the same....Russian/English.  He was a common man who wandered Moscow unclothed and barefoot.  But, all, even Ivan the Terrible, heeded his opinions derived from his visions.  Ivan had this cathedral built over his tomb.

As we exited and took photos up close of the onion domes, Inna presented us with chocolate (how did she know we were ready for another energy boost, and we each got a big piece of chocolate.  The baby's name pictured on the wrapper of this famous Russian chocolate is Alyonka....the Russian Gerber baby, don't you think?

One could wear out the credit card in GUM's (capitalized because it is actually a government abbreviation), but the 'kitty' and my credit card stayed in my pocket as we strolled through the glass-topped arcade.

We then strolled through some of Moscow's lovely pedestrian streets; paused to listen as a wonderful quartet performed Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" in an underground passage to cross the busy street (hooray!....we DID have our 'classical concert' experience after all; a request Alina tried in vain to fill because none was scheduled those days), saw the Bolshoi, which means 'big' (my friend has yet to recover that their performance schedule did not coincide with our cruise), saw the Central Telegraph Building, dating from the 1930's, and made our way to the Ritz-Carlton to see the night view of Moscow from the rooftop bar, called O2.

There were fleece blankets to wrap yourself in....yes, it got that cold when the sun set.  We each ordered something hot to drink...the ginger, mint, lemon tea served to me in a parfait glass (for 600 rubles...about $9....you pay for the view here!) was delightful and hit the spot perfectly.  It was time to call it a night....
