The 2 types of Regent Seven Seas Cruises ships, explained

Gene Sloan

Among cruise lines that focus on high-priced luxury trips, Regent Seven Seas Cruises has one of the easiest-to-understand fleets.

The Miami-based luxury brand has just five (soon to be six) ships, all of which fall into one of just two groups: the Explorer Class ships and the Small Cruise Ship Class ships.

Built over the past decade, the Explorer Class ships are the line's newest, biggest and most elegant vessels. The Small Cruise Ship Class ships are much older vessels and, as the class name suggests, the smallest ships in the Regent fleet.

For now, there are just two ships in the Explorer Class, and both have debuted since 2016. But that number is scheduled to rise to three in December with the arrival of Regent's new Seven Seas Grandeur.

The three ships in the Small Cruise Ship Class are all at least 20 years old.

Each of the vessels in the Explorer Class has been built to the same basic design. If you know one member of the group, you know them all. The three ships in the Small Cruise Ship Class have more differences, though they share many of the same venues.

Here, we explain the distinctive features of Regent's two ship classes so you can plan the luxury cruise that's right for you.

An introduction to Regent ships

Regent is one of the oldest of about half a dozen major cruise lines that compete in the market for "ultra-luxury" cruises — voyages that promise a high level of elegance and pampering and have a high price tag to match.

Founded in 1992 as the result of a merger between two one-ship lines (Radisson Cruises and Seven Seas Cruises), Regent has been in the luxury cruise game longer than its biggest rival, Silversea Cruises (which dates to 1994), as well as such newcomers in the space as The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and Scenic Luxury Cruises . It began operating just a few years after the founding of luxury cruise competitors Crystal Cruises (now reborn as Crystal ) and Seabourn .

Like all such brands, Regent operates ships that are far smaller and more intimate than the giant floating megaresorts operated by Royal Caribbean , Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise Line . Instead of thousands of passengers, each Regent vessel is designed to hold just a few hundred people.

regent seven seas cruises itinerary

Still, while the ships are smaller than what you'll find at a mass-market line, they're not cramped. Indeed, they're among the most spacious ships at sea when measured by their space-per-passenger ratio, which is about 50% higher than what you'll find on many mass-market ships.

They also operate with roughly 1 crew member for every 1.4 passengers — one of the higher crew-to-passenger ratios in the cruise business (though not as high as on Crystal's recently revamped ships , which now operate at a stunning 1-to-1 crew-to-passenger ratio).

Both space-per-passenger ratios and staff-to-passenger ratios are measurements used as shorthand for the luxury level of a vessel.

Among other luxury touches, every cabin on every Regent ship is a suite, and the number of restaurants, bars and lounges is impressive for vessels of this size.

In addition, Regent ships are known for being particularly opulent when compared to other ultra-luxury vessels. The line's new Explorer Class ships, in particular, are loaded with soaring spaces lined with pricey marble, crystal chandeliers and high-end art.

Explorer Class

regent seven seas cruises itinerary

Ships in class: Seven Seas Grandeur (2023); Seven Seas Splendor (2020); Seven Seas Explorer (2016)

Regent's two (soon to be three) Explorer Class ships are the creme-de-la-creme of the Regent fleet — the vessels you'll want to pick if you gravitate to the most new and modern vessels.

All three of the 750-passenger ships are among the most opulent and upscale cruise vessels ever built, famous for their soaring ceilings, inlaid marble floors, crystal chandeliers (each of the vessels has more than 500) and Picassos on the walls, to name just a few high-end touches.

The vessels essentially offer two kinds of accommodations: fancy and really, really fancy.

As is often the case in the luxury cruise market, every cabin on these ships is a suite with a balcony (something that is also true for two of the line's three older ships). Even the smallest of the accommodations measures 307 square feet, which is not too shabby for a cruise ship.

Still, it's in the bigger cabin complexes at the front and back of the Explorer Class ships where things get really impressive.

regent seven seas cruises itinerary

Each of the vessels is home to a ridiculously large, forward-facing room complex called the Regent Suite that, at 4,443 square feet, is one of the most elaborate and expensive cruise ship suites ever built. (Each also has an equally stunning price tag of $11,000 per night.) Each of the ships also has a dozen more suites that measure in the 1,000-square-foot to 2,000-square-foot range, as well as additional accommodations in the 500-square-foot to 1,000-square-foot range.

Explorer Class vessels also offer a wide array of elegant and high-end restaurants, all included in the fare. They include Compass Rose, the international cuisine staple of all Regent ships; Regent's signature steakhouse Prime 7; casual restaurant La Veranda; Asian eatery Pacific Rim; and French restaurant Chartreuse.

Multiple bars and lounges on these vessels in recent years have embraced the trend of ever-quirkier craft drinks. A new drinks menu has brought designer gin drinks that incorporate new-for-Regent Fever-Tree premium tonics and all sorts of spices, herbs and fruits.

For the most part, the footprints of all three ships in this series are the same, but eagle-eyed cruisers will notice that Regent made a few tweaks to the design as the series developed.

In an effort to improve passenger flow, for instance, Regent turned around the grand staircase in the central atrium on Seven Seas Splendor as compared to how it was laid out on Seven Seas Explorer. A major focal point of the vessel's interior, the staircase now cascades down from the public areas on Deck 5 toward the magnificent, marble-floored promenade on Deck 4. This promenade leads directly into Seven Seas Splendor's main restaurant, Compass Rose.

Among standout features, all Explorer Class vessels have an elaborate cooking classroom, which doesn't exist on older Regent ships. Dubbed the Culinary Arts Kitchen, each of these venues has 18 individual cooking stations tricked out with top-of-the-line induction cooktops, stainless steel sinks and all sorts of cool cooking equipment. They're backed by floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the ocean.

All three of the ships also have an elaborate Serene Spa & Wellness Center with treatment rooms and a relaxation room. A hydrothermal suite includes a multisensory aromatherapy steam room, chill room, infrared sauna and experiential showers, plus an outdoor lounge area with three whirlpools. The spa areas also offer hair and nail care in a beauty salon.

Small Cruise Ship Class

regent seven seas cruises itinerary

Ships in class: Seven Seas Voyager (2003); Seven Seas Mariner (2001); Seven Seas Navigator (1991)

The three ships in the simply named Small Cruise Ship Class are considerably older than the line's Explorer Class ships and aren't quite as big — or opulent — as their sisters.

They also have more variation among them than the Explorer Class ships. The newest of the ships, the 2003-built Seven Seas Voyager, measures 42,363 tons, which is about 12% smaller than the slightly older, 48,075-ton Seven Seas Mariner.

Seven Seas Navigator, which dates to 1991, is an even bigger outlier as it measures just 28,803 tons, which makes it about 40% smaller than Seven Seas Mariner.

Regent lumps all of these ships together in one class, and we do, too, because they share many of the same features despite their size variation.

regent seven seas cruises itinerary

Seven Seas Voyager and Seven Seas Mariner, in particular, are very similar. Both are designed for about 700 passengers and have the same basic array of venues, including the same lineup of four restaurants: the international cuisine-serving Compass Rose, steakhouse Prime 7, casual eatery La Veranda and French restaurant Chartreuse.

Unlike on the bigger Explorer Class ships, there is no Asian eatery on either of the vessels.

The smaller Seven Seas Navigator, which holds just 490 passengers, has all of the same eateries above, too, with the exception of Chartreuse. It's the only Regent ship without this popular French restaurant.

As is the case with Regent's Explorer Class ships, all the cabins on the Small Cruise Ship Class vessels are suites. Seven Seas Voyager and Seven Seas Mariner are all-balcony ships, too. One big difference, though, is that these three older ships don't have the truly giant suites found on the Explorer Class ships. The biggest suites on all three of the vessels are in the 1,000-square-foot to 1,200-square-foot range.

Review: Seven Seas Grandeur

What is the line? Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Name of ship? Seven Seas Grandeur

Passenger occupancy? 744

Itinerary? The Mediterranean in summer. Canada, New England, and the Caribbean in the fall.

Start out with the big picture—what is this cruise line known for?

RSSC caters to a worldly older crowd that wants an opulent experience. The line is all-inclusive, with the cost covering everything from airfare to transfers to staff tips, and cocktails. If you enjoy scrumptious food, wellness, and lazing about in beautiful surroundings with the ability to conjure an old-fashioned whenever you want, this is the ship for you.

Tell us about the ship in general:

Grandeur has 372 suites, each with its own spacious, furnished balcony, to accommodate 744 passengers. Completed in 2023, the ship is home to a 1,600 piece art collection that includes paintings from Picasso and Miró, as well as the only Fabergé egg permanently on display at sea, Journey in Jewels , which was custom-made for the vessel.

Who is on board?

Older couples and friends, retirees, and a few solo travelers appreciate such amenities as the spa, casino, cooking classes, and elegant restaurants. Children are allowed on RSSC, but the ship’s vibe is decidedly geared towards adults who want an indulgent vacation with loved ones.

Describe the cabins.

Decked out in muted blues, browns, and beiges, the 415 to 464 square-foot Superior Suites are spacious and well laid-out, replete with a seating area, and outdoor veranda. There's plenty of natural light, a wood-lined dressing room with ample storage space, and a large bathroom with a deep-soaking marble tub and separate rainfall shower, as well as a double vanity and plenty of drawers. The bed area has a thoughtful configuration of lighting options and plugs that are easily reached.

For a larger group on a once-in-a-lifetime trip, the extravagant Regent Suite has its own spa, a mini pool, and 3,151 square feet in which to stretch out on Deck 14.

Tell us about the crew.

Staff provides friendly, white glove service. Your room’s attendant will meet with you to answer any questions and learn your preferences. While walking around the ship, you’re warmly greeted by any crew you come across. The front desk was very accommodating and helped us arrange a last-minute excursion when inclement weather derailed our first day, in addition to providing helpful information and updates throughout the voyage.

What food and drink options are available on board?

Guests need to make reservations for steakhouse Prime 7, Chartreuse, which serves French cuisine, Italian Sette Mari at La Veranda, and Pan-Asian Pacific Rim. Vegetarians who miss meat will be delighted by the Impossible Salisbury steak made with truffle butter, as well as the wide variety of food options served at the Pool Grill buffet. Coffee and tea drinks are available during the day at the ship’s espresso bar, which was serving pumpkin spice lattes during the ship’s inaugural sailing.

The beautifully designed Compass Rose, with its canopies of crystal-and-wood-edged trees from Studio Dado, also requires reservations and allows guests to fashion their own meal from a selection of proteins, sauces, and pastas.

Those desiring a glass of wine or a cocktail sans a meal can head to one of the ship’s bars, such as the one located in the Art Nouveau-inspired observation lounge.

Is there a spa on board and is it worth visiting?

Serene Spa and Wellness features a sauna, a cold room, an “experience shower” with colored lights, and an outdoor area with three hot tubs and plenty of chairs on which to lounge. These amenities are available even without a spa appointment. Guests can choose to get their massage on a heated quartz-and-amber bed that recreates the experience of lying on sand and purports to have healing benefits. I chose to have a regular deep-tissue massage that worked all the airplane knots from my back, and was recommended a few products to help with any further soreness.

What about activities and entertainment?

Joggers will appreciate the ship’s outdoor track, which resides on deck 12 along with a net-enclosed pickleball court and a mini-golf course. The ship’s pool is one deck down on 13, surrounded by loungers, a pair of hot tubs, and a DJ in the afternoons.

A casino can be found on deck 4, along with a boutique to get sundries and a jewelry store. The ship’s Constellation Theater features comedians like Seinfeld alumn John O’Hurley, and musical shows such as Marauder's Ball, from a Broadway director and a Grammy-winning composer. Guests can also enjoy small music ensembles in the ship’s lounges.

How was the experience for families?

The Club Mariner Youth Program for kids 5 to 17 is supervised by youth counselors and available on select itineraries. Activities can include group events such as dance parties and movie nights.

Where did it sail and how were the excursions? Did anything stand out?

Our three-day itinerary sailed from Miami to Miami with a stop in Freeport. Due to inclement weather, we ended up spending the first day at sea. The next day, a 30-minute bus ride took us through Freeport to a small beach area where we were able to lie in the sun with beverages while we awaited our turn to feed apples to a group of pigs that live on the local beach. We took turns holding pigs for photo opps, which was pretty fun for animal-lovers.

Are there any stand out sustainability or green initiatives about this cruise?

Rather than dole out pre-filled plastic bottles, the ship gifts travelers an aluminum water bottle that can be refilled with still or sparkling water at many stations around the boat.

Anything we missed?

The ship’s restaurants in particular are beautifully designed. Prime 7 has a subtle bull theme that shows up in the space’s sculptures and paintings, along with a wall of antique leather travel cases. The front area was designed to evoke a streetcar. The Pan Asian restaurant Pacific Rim features a spectacular cherry blossom tree made out of glass by its front doors.

Finally, give a sentence or two on why the cruise is worth booking.

Sophisticated foodies in particular, as well as anyone who enjoys the sensual pleasures of eating, drinking, and relaxing in a serene environment while being catered to will appreciate a sailing on the Grandeur .

6 Top Luxury Alaska Cruises for 2024 & Beyond

C ruising to Alaska on a small luxury ship affords a very different experience than sailing through The Great Land on a larger vessel. On a smaller luxury ship, you'll enjoy the expected perks like fewer passengers and more personalized service – but you'll also physically get closer to the boundless wilderness, abundant wildlife, icy blue glaciers and majestic snow-capped mountains that you've waited a lifetime to see.

While the fares to sail on such vessels are quite a bit higher than those of larger cruise providers, the all-inclusive (or mostly all-inclusive) prices typically include all-suite accommodations with balconies, all meals, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, 24-hour room service, Wi-Fi access, gratuities, welcome bottles of sparkling wine, pillow selection, some shore excursions and butler service. Best of all, you won't feel like you're being nickel-and-dimed while on board. As a special touch, the attentive crew members may even learn your name and memorize your preferred pre-dinner cocktail.

Unlike many mainstream lines, most luxury Alaska cruises do not offer pre- and post-cruise tours to extend your adventure. However, you can plan these experiences on your own through third-party providers.

Alaska Tour & Travel has pre-cruise packages that include visits to Denali National Park & Preserve and the small, quirky Alaska towns of Homer and Talkeetna. You can also see a different side of Alaska via a train ride on the Alaska Railroad, take a national parks tour that includes Kenai Fjords National Park or head northbound to Fairbanks , one of the best places in the world to see the northern lights (if you visit during aurora season, from late August to late April). In addition, the company can plan a self-drive tour from Anchorage to Seward, which includes a stay at a wilderness lodge, helicopter flightseeing over Knik Glacier and guided tours in the parks.

The following luxury cruise lines will ensure you make the most of your voyage in Alaska – one of the most magical destinations on Earth.

Silversea Cruises

Silversea Cruises' small luxury ships are designed for adventurers interested in visiting a mix of Alaska's top ports and more rugged, off-the-beaten-track locales. Extended itineraries offer stops in less-visited destinations like the towns of Haines and Wrangell. On board, guests can expect a personalized experience that includes luxurious ocean-view suites with butler service, multiple gourmet dining options, complimentary alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, and attentive service with one of the highest crew-to-guest ratios in the industry.

Base fares for Silversea's 2024 and 2025 Alaska itineraries start at $3,250 per person. If you upgrade to Silversea 's door-to-door fare (which starts at $5,200 per person), you'll receive private chauffeur service from your home to the airport (and back home upon your return) and round-trip flights, with business class upgrades in some destinations.

Silversea also offers immersive pre- and post-cruise land experiences, departing from Seward, Alaska. Highlights include sightseeing flights over Denali National Park & Preserve or into bear country to see Alaska's magnificent grizzly bears. In Vancouver, travelers can take a flightseeing transfer to Victoria to tour the 55-acre Butchart Gardens or board the Rocky Mountaineer for a two-day train ride through the Canadian Rockies.

Silversea's Alaska itineraries extend from May to September, with voyages ranging between seven and 16 days. The line's newest and largest vessel, the 728-passenger Silver Nova , sails its inaugural Alaska season in 2024 along with two smaller ships, Silver Muse (596 guests) and Silver Shadow (392 guests). There are 35 Alaska voyages available in 2024. In 2025, luxury cruisers can hop aboard one of 45 scheduled voyages on either Silver Nova or the 596-guest Silver Moon .

For a seven-day itinerary, consider a sailing from Seward, Alaska, to Vancouver, British Columbia. This voyage cruises the Hubbard Glacier and the Inside Passage and stops in the Alaska towns of Juneau, Skagway, Sitka and Ketchikan. Complimentary excursions in Ketchikan include a tour of Saxman Native Village; a visit to Bonfire Bay Oyster Farm, featuring a sea-to-table oyster tasting; the Alaskan Cultural, Culinary & Lumberjack show; the Alaskan Lodge Adventure & Seafeast and a day as a fisherman aboard the Aleutian Ballard, as seen on Discovery Channel's "The Deadliest Catch." You can also opt for a Selected Shore Excursion (for an additional cost), such as mountain biking or a private fishing trip.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Regent Seven Seas Cruises' elegant Seven Seas Explorer sails the line's Alaska itineraries in 2024 and 2025. The lavish 746-guest ship was coined "The Most Luxurious Ship Ever Built" when it debuted in 2016; among its impressive features are the 3,875-square-foot Regent Suite and a high-end collection of art displayed throughout the ship, including works by Pablo Picasso.

Alaska voyages with Regent in 2024 and 2025 start at $4,799 per person. Upgraded 2-for-1 all-inclusive fares (starting at $5,499 per person) cover elegant all-balcony suite accommodations; round-trip airfare (business class on international flights); a one-night pre-cruise hotel package; free two- or three-night land programs; free unlimited shore excursions; free unlimited beverages (alcoholic and nonalcoholic); complimentary specialty dining; and prepaid gratuities. Meanwhile, Penthouse Suites (and higher) include a private butler who can book excursions, make dinner and spa reservations, unpack your luggage, arrange for a private cocktail soiree in your suite and indulge any other special requests.

Between May and September 2024, Regent sails 22 Alaska voyages. There are 16 Alaska sailings scheduled for the same period in 2025. Itineraries range from seven to 14 nights. For plenty of scenic cruising days, consider a round-trip itinerary from Vancouver departing May 28, 2025. The cruise includes five relaxing days at sea, where you'll enjoy scenic cruising through the Inside Passage (twice), Hubbard Glacier (twice) and Endicott Arm Fjord. Ports of call in Alaska include Wrangell, Juneau , Skagway, Sitka, Seward, Icy Strait (Hoonah) and Ketchikan. You'll also have a full day in Victoria, British Columbia, before returning to Vancouver.

While in Wrangell, consider the Tongass Botanical Forest Walk excursion. Tongass National Forest is the largest national forest in the U.S., with towering old-growth trees and unique flora, fauna and ecosystems. While in the temperate rainforest with your naturalist guide, look for local wildlife like Sitka black-tailed deer, porcupines and birds of prey. Other complimentary excursions at this stop include a round of golf at Muskeg Meadows Golf Course; a canoe trip through Wrangell harbor and nearby islands, and a heritage tour about Tlingit culture and the history of the town.

Between May and August 2024, Seabourn Cruise Line will host 20 Alaska voyages aboard the Seabourn Odyssey , before the ship leaves the cruise line in the fall. In 2025, the line offers 27 Alaska sailings on Seabourn Quest. Both yacht-inspired ships accommodate up to 458 guests and feature Seabourn's signature all-inclusive amenities, including luxurious oceanfront suites with verandas; personalized service; complimentary fine wines and premium spirits; complimentary dining; and caviar served throughout the sailing. You'll also have a complimentary W-Fi package and an in-suite minibar stocked with your favorite beverages. Ashore, sign up for exclusive programs like shopping for fresh salmon, halibut and Alaska king crab alongside a Seabourn chef.

Guests booking Seabourn Quest for 2025 will be able to sample the line's new dining concept, Solis. Inspired by destinations in the Mediterranean, the menu features a fresh, modern take on traditional dishes and whimsical cocktails. The restaurant is a collaboration with master chef and culinary partner Anton Egger and senior corporate chef Franck Salein. In addition to dishes like salt-encrusted whole branzino and Tuscan-style steak, guests will also find a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes.

The seven-day Alaska Fjords & Canadian Inside Passage itinerary on May 31, 2024, aboard Seabourn Odyssey, sails from Juneau to Vancouver and includes a day in either Tracy Arm or Endicott Arm, depending on the ice conditions. From there, you can take one of the optional guided excursions: Ventures by Seabourn. These tours are an additional cost but offer opportunities for up-close Zodiac, kayaking or catamaran experiences in the wilderness to see glaciers calving and view local wildlife, such as black bears, mountain goats, seals, wolves and seabirds.

You'll also enjoy many days of scenic cruising on this voyage, and have the opportunity for more optional adventures in Rudyerd Bay (Misty Fjords). The ship makes additional stops in Wrangell, Alaska, and Prince Rupert, British Columbia, before disembarking in Vancouver.

If you want to see stunning Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve, then consider booking the seven-day Alaska Inside Passage & Glacier Bay sailing on May 10, 2024, from Vancouver to Juneau. This itinerary also includes the Seymour Narrows and Snow Pass, cruising Queen Island Sound and the Lynn Canal. There's a stop for Ventures by Seabourn activities like kayaking and Zodiac rides in the Inian Islands. The Alaska ports of call on this voyage are Ketchikan, Sitka, Icy Strait Point and Haines. You'll disembark in Juneau.

French luxury expedition line PONANT offers 10 Alaska cruises in 2024; itineraries span between seven and 11 nights. Aboard the 264-guest yacht-style Le Soléal, you'll meet up to 10 naturalist experts and guides specializing in geology, history, ornithology or marine or land mammals. Guests can attend onboard lectures and embark on Zodiac landings with the guides.

The ship features elegant staterooms and suites, a library, a spa, a hair salon and a gym. Guests will be treated to movies in the theater, wine tastings and cooking demonstrations throughout the expedition. All fine dining meals, 24-hour room service, an open bar (including an in-room minibar) and complimentary and unlimited Wi-Fi access are covered in the pricing.

Two of PONTANT's eight-night voyages from Vancouver to Sitka are in partnership with Smithsonian Journeys and are curated for English-speaking travelers. Fares for these expeditions include transfers to and from the ship and a shore excursion in each port. On board, you can attend talks and discussions hosted by two Smithsonian Journeys experts: geologist Scott Burns and natural history filmmaker John Grabowska.

On these voyages, there is a sea day after departing Vancouver. You'll cruise through the Johnstone Strait, where you'll have an excellent chance of seeing humpback whales and orcas. After a day spent in the Inside Passage, the ship will call on the village of Metlakatla, Alaska, on the western coast of Annette Island, which is home to the Tsimshians from British Columbia. Other unique Alaska ports of call in this itinerary include the commercial fishing town of Petersburg, the Tlingit village of Kake and the small fishing community of Alfin Cove.

Seven Seas Grandeur Itineraries

Seven seas grandeur review, review of seven seas grandeur.

The 2023-built Seven Seas Grandeur cruise ship is the newest of RSSC-Regent's EXPLORER-class series, with sisterships Seven Seas Explorer (2016) and Seven Seas Splendor (2021). The vessel is currently planned for delivery and inauguration in 2023 November.

The vessel (IMO number 9877444) will be France- flagged (MMSI 538010706) and registered in Majuro / Marshall Islands . During its construction, Seven Seas Grandeur was temporarily Italy-flagged (MMSI 247475800).

History - construction and ownership

Regent Cruises (officially Regent Seven Seas Cruises / RSSC ) is an all-inclusive, top-luxury cruise brand fka "Radisson Seven Seas". Until 2014, the company (as part of "Prestige Cruise Holdings") was owned by Apollo Management LP - one of the world's largest private investment equity funds. Since September 2014, RSSC and the sister company Oceania Cruises are owned by NCL Norwegian (shipowner), acquired at the total cost of USD 3 billion. Regent cruise ships are medium-sized, with max passenger capacity 800. The fleet consists of 6-star rated all-suite and all-balcony vessels with a space-to-guest ratio ~70 and staff-to-guest ratio 1-to-1,6 (some of the industry's best). As building cost per berth , RSSC liners are among the world's most expensive ships.

For the vessel's interior design, RSSC contracted the Florida-based firm "Studio DADO". The DADO-designed venues include Observation Lounge, Constellation Theater, Card Room, Connoisseur Club, Pacific Rim Restaurant, ship's Spa as well as all the 55 suites (categories Penthouse, Grand, Superior).

Decks and Cabins

Like all RSSC-Regent ships, Seven Seas Grandeur staterooms (total 375) are all suites grouped in 15 categories. All cabins also have private step-out balconies. Cabins designer was Tillberg Design of Sweden.

The cost of the Regent Suite on the Grandeur ship signifies the ultimate RSSC luxury vacation package experience. The unique accommodation is sized 4445 ft2 (413 m2) including the outdoor wraparound terrace (1230 ft2 / 114 m2). Grandeur's Regent Suite is not only the largest at sea but also the most expensive - priced USD 11000 (~EUR 9340 / GBP 8050) per night. However, the price includes unlimited services (provided by dedicated staff) and amenities like Spa Room (unlimited massages and treatments), Sauna, Steam Room, 2x bedrooms, 2x full bathrooms (with jetted tubs), living room (with a garden, grand piano, half bathroom), dining room, dressing room, bow-facing balcony (with a Tresse Minipool and a glass-enclosed parlor).

The boat has 13 decks , of which 10 are passenger-accessible and 7 with cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

On Regent's Grandeur ship are offered cooking classes in the fleet's first specially dedicated Culinary Arts Kitchen. The teaching kitchen's dishes are crafted with locally sourced ingredients.

Food-themed excursions ashore are available for booking via RSSC's Gourmet Explorer Tours. On these tours, passengers can enjoy gourmet food prepared by renowned local chefs, as well as wine tasting at premium estates and local food market visits.

Regent Seven Seas Grandeur cruise ship

On Regent's newest ship, the the brand's culinary experiences were enhanced by introducing upgraded menus, redesigned specialty restaurants and 130+ new dishes. Among those are Compass Rose (dinner-only restaurant/13x new dishes), Prime 7 (steakhouse/has a new lunch menu), Pacific Rim (pan-Asian restaurant/has 2x new entrees and 4x new desserts), Sette Mari ay La Veranda (Italian restaurant/8x new appetizers).

Along with the new menus, on Grandeur, Regent also introduced numerous plant-based dishes.

Follows the complete list of Seven Seas Grandeur restaurants and food bars.

  • Compass Rose (main dining room restaurant, open-seating breakfast, lunch and dinner; features European Continental dishes and alternative choices - vegetarian, specialties from the Spa menu, select dishes from Regent's Chartreuse menu with gourmet French cuisine)
  • Chartreuse is Regent's new French specialty restaurant also serving premium cocktails based on the Green Chartreuse liqueur. The restaurant offers some of the most exquisite gourmet experiences at sea.
  • Prime 7 (reservations-only dinner restaurant with American Steakhouse menu)
  • Sette Mari at La Veranda (casual dining venue; operates as ship's self-service buffet restaurant; in the evenings, the buffet transforms into "Sette Mari" Italian dinner restaurant, complimentary. The Destination Corner serves the local dishes of the destination.)
  • Culinary Arts Kitchen (cooking school with 18 cooking stations in 3 rows; each is equipped with quartz countertop and stainless steel sink; the cooking school has floor-ceiling windows, and boasts 12 different classes themed as fish and shellfish, food and wine, mini-desserts, healthy cooking, etc. As part of the program, Regent Seven Seas also offers "Gourmet Explorer Tours" ashore).
  • Pacific Rim (Pan-Asian restaurant, dinner-only, with an art installation of a large dragon)
  • Coffee Connection is an alfresco seating area.

The Compass Rose restaurant on Seven Seas Grandeur is redesigned by Studio DADO (2016-founded, Trapani Sicily -based interior design firm). Among the restaurant's features are the cascading waterfall sculptures (made of laser-cut metal and hand-blown glass), illuminated arching trees (wood-edged and made of interwoven crystal), floor-ceiling illumination during the night (hundreds of lights surround the floor-ceiling windows). The restaurant is also lighted by thousands of crystal-faceted leaves (encrusted on pillars and branches throughout). Also new is the mural (an artwork custom-designed by Confluent Studios Inc/Burnaby BC Canada) crafted with gold leaves and mirror-finished (Verre Eglomise process of gilding onto the glass' rear face).

Compass Rose's expanded menu includes dishes like Black Angus filet mignon, Maine Lobster Tail, King Scallops, New Zealand Lamb Chops, several daily changing specials, a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian items.

In June 2022, RSSC announced that on Seven Seas Grandeur will be introduced a new Italian menu, later to be rolled out fleetwide. The new menu (developed for the Italian restaurant chain Sette Mari) includes items like Bruschetta al pomodoro (tomato), Cavatelli ai frutti di mare (filled pasta), Zucchini alla poverella, Insalata di Panzanella (bread salad) alla Masseria Salamina (17th-century castle in Fasano), Cozze gratinate al forno (stuffed mussels), Branzino in agrodolce (spigola in sweet-and-sour sauce), Pasticcini alla mandorle (Sicilian baked sweets), Chef Nino's Cioppino (fish stew), focaccia con pomodorini (Italian flat bread made with olive oil and flavoured with herbs).

Seven Seas Grandeur's "Prime 7" restaurant (redesigned by Studio DADO) is themed as a classic NYC steakhouse from the late 19th-early 20th century. The design highlights include a wall (by the entry) decorated with handmade vintage suitcases and black-and-white photos, an interior wall (separating from the service stations) with glass-enclosed vitrines, a wall that has gentleman belts (put end on end) creating beautiful texture. The interior tables are with fake windows outfitted with mirrors to reflect the ocean view from the opposite windows. Shipboard art collection

In October 2022, RSSC contracted Faberge Ltd (2007-founded) to design "Faberge Egg Objet" for the Grandeur ship's art collection. The unique art piece (designed by Liisa Tallgren and inspired by Faberge's Winter Egg/1913) will remain permanently onboard but is not for sale.

The ship's art collection groups ~1600 pieces from popular artists and renowned galleries worldwide. The collection's highlights are 3x Pablo Picasso paintings (Toros y Toreros/1961, Antes de Picar al Toro/1963, Picador Picando al Toro, Con Matador al Quite/1961), Faberge's custom-made egg "Journey in Jewels", and Zheng Lu's stainless steel sculpture "Water in Dripping - Waterfall" (2021).

Another unique art piece is the custom-made "Bonsai Cherry Tree" sculpture (bronze and hand-cast glass) by Savoy Studios ( Portland OR USA -based art glass studio). The installation is at the entrance of the Pacific Rim restaurant.

Upon entering the Compass Rose restaurant, diners are seated beneath a canopy made of thousands of interwoven crystal-faceted leaves on wood-edged trees, creating the ambiance of an enchanted forest.

Regent Grandeur boasts a wide array of artworks encompassing sculptures, original paintings, photographs. Next are listed some of the most expensive pieces and their floor location.

Pablo Picasso's (Lithograph and Linocut) "Toros y Toreros," "Antes de picar al toro," and "Picador picando al toro, con matador al quite" are displayed in Prime 7 (steakhouse on Deck 10 ).

Faberge's "Journey in Jewels" is in the Atrium on Deck 5 .

Savoy Studios's "Bonsai Cherry Tree" (Pacific Rim) is on Deck 5.

Walter Goldfarb's "The Enchanted Tree" (40-ft/12-m-tall tapestry) hangs beside the elevator wall in the Atrium on Deck 6 .

Seven Seas Grandeur Wiki

The shipowner NCLH (Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd) placed the order with the shipbuilder Fincantieri SpA on January 15, 2019. The shipbuilding order was signed by Frank Del Rio (NCLH's President and CEO) and Giuseppe Bono (Fincantieri's CEO).

For the newbuild project, NCLH obtained export credit financing (for 80% of the unit's contract price of EUR 475 million / USD 532 million). With the order for Seven Seas Grandeur in 2019, NCLH had 11 vessels ( on order or under construction ) with deliveries through 2027. Of those, 7x were for NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line , 2x for Oceania and 2x for RSSC-Regent .

Regent announced the name of its newest boat (Seven Seas Grandeur) on June 22, 2021. The name was revealed by Jason Montague (RSSC's President and CEO) in a video.

The vessel's construction (Fincantieri Ancona yard number/hull 6282) officially started with the steel-cutting ceremony on November 2, 2021, held at Fincantieri's Ancona shipyard. The special event was attended by Jason Montague (RSSC's President and CEO) and Giovanni Stecconi (shipyard's Director). The vessel's physical construction started with the keel-laying ceremony, held on July 12, 2022. During the event, 3x custom-minted coins were placed onto the keel/first hull block, each representing one of the sisterships Grandeur (2023), Splendor (2021), Explorer (2016). The coins for Explorer and Splendor were delivered to Fincantieri's yards Sestri Ponente Genova (in 2016) and Ancona (in 2020), while Grandeur's coin is new and features RSSC's 30th-anniversary logo.

The Regent ship's namesake is the RCI 's liner Grandeur of the Seas (1996).

The ship was launched/floated out from drydock on January 26, 2023. The ceremony was led by Orsinja Myshku (Senior Controller of Ancona yard's Economic Administration and Control Office) who served as madrina/godmother. The special event was attended by Andrea DeMarco (Regent's President), Gabriella Fonzo (Regent's Senior Director of Sales CEMEA) and Giovanni Ciriaco Stecconi (Ancona shipyard's Director).

Fincantieri officially delivered Seven Seas Grandeur to RSSC on November 13, 2023.

Christening ceremony (2023)

On July 17, 2023, RSSC announced that Grandeur's godmother will be Sarah Josephine Faberge (1958-born).

She is the only daughter of Theo Faberge (1922-2007) who was a grandson of Peter Carl Faberge/Karl Gustavovich Faberge (1846-1920) who was one of the sons of Gustav Faberge (1814-94, the founder of the House of Faberge/1842-established) and made the first Easter-themed jeweled Faberge eggs in Sankt Petersburg (Russia) .

Sarah Faberge is a founding member of the Faberge Heritage Council and Director of Special Projects for Faberge. Since 2007, all trademarks, licenses and associated rights relating to the brand Faberge are owned by Pallinghurst Resources Ltd (now Gemfields Group Ltd/2007-founded supplier of colored gemstones).

The ship's christening ceremony was held on December 10, 2023, in Miami (Florida USA) . The naming event featured entertainment from Kristin Dawn Chenoweth (1968-born American actress and singer) and was attended by Harry Sommer (NCLH's President and CEO) and Andrea DeMarco (RSSC's President).

As part of the Regent-Faberge partnership, during the ship naming festivities, Sarah Faberge wore unique earrings and a ring designed specifically for the event. These pieces of jewelry (made of 18-karat white gold, white diamonds and pearls) were auctioned and the money was given to charity (Gemfields Foundation) in 2024.

After the ceremony, Seven Seas Grandeur started the exclusive "Caribbean Christening Cruise" (3-day roundtrip itinerary) before the official Caribbean deployment.

For July 1, 2024, was scheduled to start Seven Seas Grandeur's "Faberge Spotlight Voyage" featuring small group workshops and master-class programs, exclusive shore tours, Faberge egg demos, lectures and screenings. The "Faberge Cruise" is a 10-day Mediterranean itinerary (from Civitavecchia-Rome to Monte Carlo Monaco) visiting Salerno, Taormina Sicily, Valletta Malta; Palma de Mallorca (Balearic Spain), Barcelona, Marseille, and Antibes.

In September 2023, Regent announced Grandeur ship's Senior Officers - Luciano Montesanto (Master/Captain), Antonio Lagana (Chief Engineer), Giuseppe Gargiulo (Staff Captain), Franck Galzy (General Manager), David Nevin (Cruise Director).
