MANI Mani is unique place of raw beauty. Areopoli, Vathia, Limeni and other villages are to be pointed out when referring to Mani’s culture and architecture. Diros Cave is considered to be “the jewel of Mani”. It is half-filled with water, so you must go through it by boat. It is one of the most beautiful caves in the world. Pasavas Castle is also the place to visit when in Mani. The ruins of a castle built by the French still remain and it is also said that an ancient city named “Las” is buried there.
SPARTI (48km) In Sparti lies the “Olive tree and Greek Olive Oil” museum, that depicts the “know-how” of olive oil production. The museum is unique and it is located in the center of Laconia.
MYSTRAS (54km) Mystras is a town full of castles only 6 kilometers away from Sparti. The imposing walls, the palace that belonged to the Paliologos family, the residencies, the Byzantine churches as well as the castle are breathtakingly beautiful.
MONASTERIES AND VILLAGES In the area that surrounds Gythio, there are many monasteries, like the one of Zerbitsa, the one of Faneromeni, the one of Giatrisa etc. There are also a lot of notable villages such as Arna in Taygetos, Kosmas in Parnonas and Geraki of Byzantium…

Hope this helps.
Did you have any success? We're trying to do the same for July 2
The reason for lack of agencies in Gythio is probably that it has no airport and is not a point of entry for travellers needing a car so the demand is not there.
Thank you for all your help!

Gythio Tourism
Gythio is a lovely family destination on the southern side of Peloponnese. It distinguishes for the island style, the wonderful beaches, and the wild landscape. The most famous spot of Gythio is Kranae islet, at the entrance of the port, where Paris and Helen spend the night before leaving for Troy. Conveniently located in southern Peloponnese, Gythio is a good base for road trips to Monemvasia, Mystras, Kalamata, Elafonissos and the region of Mani. Kythira & Pitsinades
Kythira, the mythological birthplace of Venus(Aphrodite) and therefore the land of love and happiness. Byzantine churches,Venetian castles, traditional villages are witnesses of cultures and civilizations of the past. Magnificent beaches, quiet bays and picturesque little ports, walking trails, the scent of thyme, the vivid sunlight and winds are the present that makes Kythira the place to be.
Located in the centre of the island ,Pitsinades is a medieval officially protected traditional settlement near to Aroniadika and Potamos. Old ruins and new summer houses, serenity, quiet, magical sunsets and warm hospitality make Pitsinades and its Guesthouse the ideal place for unforgettable holidays.

Pleasant journey
The journey was very pleasant the only thing it is we left late from the inland and we were late arriving, almost an hour late.
Crete-Santorini
A quick and neat way to combine 2 islands. The day trip to Santorini was really worth it and the ferry was fine. However, getting on and off via the vehicle deck was very polluted with exhaust fumes.
Trip to Mykonos
One of the worst experience I have in my trip going to and coming from Mykonos, no consideration to seniors carrying luggage, really disappointed with the way of handling their passengers. If I would do it again, definitely I will fly, if you are 60 and older I advise DO NOT take the ferry.
[Translated from French] We were left abandoned after waiting 4 hours. We were supposed to reach Piraeus from Folegandros. Departure time 4:10pm but no information and the boat arrived at 7:30pm. One person comes out and just says "Milos". But we tell them we're leaving for Piraeus. The reply: "So you're staying on the island"! We don't have a hotel, and in October there aren't many open. We were forced to make do. I travel a lot and I've never experienced such a situation and lack of consideration on the part of a company. I confirm that I will never take this company on the islands again and that you should be ashamed of treating an ex-customer like this.
Shiping comfort
It was on time and the ferry's boarding was ok and easy.
Not recommended
Overall, I don't recommend it. Too many delays on schedules. Not the right journey times advertised. Not necessarily the right ferry for the marine situation. You can have a passable trip or a mediocre one.
Bad. They changed our ferry schedule 6 times, which ultimately cost us a day's vacation in Crete.
Smooth ride, even on a rough sea
Although it was not so nice say at sea, the ride went smoothly. The ship was great, and the stuff were friendly and helpful. TIP: when taking a ship from Paros, consider the traffic - because of traffic jams we arrived at the last minute.
