The ’00s Coventry indie veterans announced their return earlier in November 2021, revealing details of a September 2022 tour to coincide with the 15th anniversary of their acclaimed No.1 debut album ‘We’ll Live And Die In These Towns ’.

Around the time, Clarke also spoke to NME about their reformation and explained that they had made the comeback “without the music industry” behind them .

“The only way I’d do it is if it was totally on our own terms: no management, no label, no publishing,” he explained. “I’ve been able to do it solo without the industry, so why can’t the band? There’s no pressure, and it’s a lovely way to be. It’s simple. We’ve put the gigs on sale, the fans love it and have bought tickets. It couldn’t be more beautiful, really.”

Before their split in 2016 , the trio released four albums over 10 years, scored hits including ‘Away From Here,’ ‘Had Enough’ and ‘Saturday’ and supported the likes of Oasis , The Rolling Stones and The Sex Pistols .

Mar 25 The Enemy announce 2024 "Indie Til I Die" tour

One of the biggest bands of their era, The Enemy have been on fire since reforming in 2022. That year saw them receive rapturous receptions in packed venues across the land (including three homecoming shows at the HMV Empire in Coventry and two nights at the O2 Forum Kentish Town) before spending 2023 focused on festivals from the Isle of Wight to the Shiiine On Weekender via TRNSMT and Tramlines. The verdict?  “Exhilarating”  (The Upcoming) and “phenomenal”  (When The Horn Blows).

Now The Enemy announce details of a tour that will capture the imagination of those who adored them the first time around. They will headline the ‘“Indie Til I Die” tour in October which features two big name special guests in the shape of The Subways and The Holloways. The shows will be completed with DJ sets from Radio X duo Sunta Templeton and James Hall.

The Enemy’s Tom Clarke says, “We’re absolutely buzzing about this tour! Excited to be sharing the stage with some great bands in some of our favourite rooms around the country!”

Tickets for the tour will go on general sale HERE  at 10am on Thursday 28th March.

The dates are:

October 2024

4th - Edinburgh, O2 Academy

5th - Glasgow, O2 Academy

11th - Newcastle, O2 City Hall

12th - Manchester, O2 Victoria Warehouse

18th - Birmingham, O2 Academy

19th - London, O2 Academy Brixton

the enemy tour 2023

Still consisting of their original and only line-up of Tom Clarke (vocals/guitar), Andy Hopkins (bass) and Liam Watts (drums) - The Enemy’s 2007 debut album “We’ll Live And Die In These Towns” made a phenomenal impact. Featuring the Top 10 hits and live staples Had Enough and Away From Here , the album debuted at #1 and was certified Platinum. They released two hit records: 2009’s “Music For The People” (#2) and 2012’s “Streets In The Sky” (#9), plus their final album, 2015’s “It’s Automatic”, and played shows with the likes of Oasis, The Killers and The Rolling Stones.

The Subways were also prospering throughout that era, their youthful zest inspiring the garage-rock rush that towers through their acclaimed early albums “Young For Eternity” and “All Or Nothing”. Their breakthrough hit and biggest moment Rock & Roll Queen still spins on indie radio to this day. That spirit that continued to shine on last year’s “Uncertain Joys”, an album which XS Noise hailed as a “triumphant return.”

The charismatic rabble-rousing rush of Generator and Two Left Feet quickly powered The Holloways’ rise. That cocktail of unrestrained energy and indie-pop with a ramshackle punk undercurrent was further developed in two acclaimed albums, “So This Is Great Britain?” and “No Smoke, No Mirrors”. This represents their first full tour together in thirteen years, as well as their first major shows since the tragic loss of Rob Skipper in 2014.

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) The Enemy are a three piece indie rock band from, contrary to popular belief, Kenilworth, Leamington and Coventry. Their debut album - \"We\'ll Live And Die In These Towns\" - was released on the 9th of July 2007. This went straight to number one in the UK. Since the band headlined the NME \"Rock N Roll Riot\" tour supported by The Wombats and Lethal Bizzle. In March/April the band conducted their first tour, playing two sold out nights at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

Imagine Dragons’ sixth studio album LOOM represents the pinnacle of their artistic journey of self-discovery and marks the best body of work they’ve ever made. LOOM , produced entirely by Imagine Dragons and their longtime collaborators Mattman and Robin, finds the perfect balance between the classic sounds that have made them superstars and the freshness that brought them joy in the studio. Featuring 9 brand new tracks including hit single “Eyes Closed”, LOOM signifies new beginnings on the horizon – the excitement for a new day, moments yet to come.

Last year, the members of Imagine Dragons found themselves with a rare and well-deserved break from the road—perhaps their longest in many years. So, they made the most of it by devoting that time to family and friends. Catalyzed by this respite with a refreshed perspective, the band rallied together in the studio and mined the same well of inspiration that fed their most beloved material. The musicians reflected on the past in order to catapult into a future where stylistic boundaries have disappeared entirely and anything is possible creatively. This journey has brought them to their most dynamic and definitive body of work to date, LOOM .

To herald LOOM , the band recently shared their soaring new anthem entitled “Eyes Closed.” Check out the video HERE . The track illuminates their penchant for boundary-breaking. Stretching the limits of the soundscape almost to the breaking point, they harness a burst of energy with a rafter-reaching refrain primed to soar on the upcoming summer tour.

It’s the year of the Dragons …

ABOUT IMAGINE DRAGONS:

Imagine Dragons continue to redefine rock in the 21 st century. Filling stadiums, crafting cloud-rattling anthems, and breaking records at every turn, diamond-certified GRAMMY® Award-winning Las Vegas quartet Imagine Dragons occupy rarified air as one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Tallying cumulative sales of 74 million album equivalents, 65 million digital songs, and over 160 billion streams, they stand out as “the only band in history to earn four RIAA Diamond singles , ” namely “Radioactive” (16x-platinum), “Believer” (13x-platinum), “Thunder” (12x-platinum) and “Demons” (11x-platinum). Since emerging in 2009, they’ve scored five consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 with Night Visions [2012] (7x-platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Smoke+Mirrors [2015] (platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Evolve [2017] (triple-platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Origins [2018] (platinum)(KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), and Mercury – Act 1 [2021]( KIDinaKORNER/Interscope). With the release of Mercury – Act 2 (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope) in 2022, they completed their first double-album opus produced by the legendary Rick Rubin. The hit single “Bones,” featured on Mercury Act 2, went to number one at Alternative Radio and remains in the Global Top 50 on Spotify. The band’s hit collaboration with East Atlanta-based rapper J.I.D, “Enemy,” has racked up billions of global streams and landed at #6 on the IFPI Global Singles Chart for 2022. Dominating radio, they remain one of only four bands to ever achieve consecutive Top 5 singles at Alternative radio, and the only band to repeat this feat. Most recently, Imagine Dragons made history on Spotify, as “Bad Liar” became their 10th song to surpass 1 billion streams. The band now holds the crown for the group with most billion-plus streamed songs, becoming the first in the platform’s history to have ten songs reach this milestone. Meanwhile, Imagine Dragons’ music videos for hits “Thunder” and “Believer” have garnered an astounding 2 billion YouTube views, while videos for “Radioactive” and “Demons” have surpassed over 1 billion views.  They’ve collaborated with everyone from Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, and Wiz Khalifa to Avicii and film composer Hans Zimmer. Giving back, they’ve raised millions for various causes, including their pediatric cancer charity the Tyler Robinson Foundation, and frontman Dan Reynolds’ LOVELOUD Foundation and festival in support of LGBTQ+ youth. In 2022, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky named them ambassadors for UNITED 24, which benefits humanitarian aid in Ukraine. Imagine Dragons earned an impressive four nominations for the 2022 American Music Awards including “Favorite Pop Duo or Group,” “Favorite Rock Artist,” “Favorite Rock Album” and “Favorite Rock Song.” The band was also nominated for “Group of 2022” for the 2022 People’s Choice Awards. Most recently, they received an MTV VMA nomination for “Video For Good” for their acclaimed “Crushed” music video.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Kevin Hart waves to the crowd.

On May 5, Kevin Hart will host the ‘Roast of Tom Brady’ at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum as part of the Netflix is a Joke Festival.

However, that’s far from the only gig the 2024 Mark Twain Prize For American Humor winner has lined up this year.

From April all the way up until December, the prolific 44-year-old comic will perform at venues all over North America as part of his ‘Acting My Age Tour.’

That includes a pair of shows at Westbury, NY’s Westbury Music Fair on June 29 as well as one-offs at Newark, NJ’s Prudential Center on June 30 and Poughkeepsie, NY’s MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center on July 20.

“This one is going to hit different,” Hart shared on Instagram , while describing the tour. “We’re on a different level, a different mindset.”

If you want to see what the “Ride Along” star has up his sleeve for his ‘Acting My Age Tour,’ tickets are available for all shows.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find was $16 before fees on Vivid Seats.

To be fair, that low dollar amount is a bit of an outlier (hint, hint- it’s for the Tom Brady Roast); other Kevin Hart shows have tickets starting anywhere from $55 to $389 before fees.

Hoping to find out how much seats are going for at the venue nearest you?

We’ve got everything you need to know and more about Kevin Hart’s 2024 ‘Acting My Age Tour’ below.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Kevin Hart tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to the cheapest tickets available can be found here:

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Netflix is a Joke Festival 2024

From May 2-12, 2024, the  Netflix is a Joke Festival  is returning to Los Angeles for over 300 (!) shows spread out across 35 venues.

And yes, one of your favorite comedians will probably be there.

Just a few of the mega names on this year’s lineup include  Jerry Seinfeld ,  Chris Rock ,  Bill Burr ,  David Letterman  and controversial crowd work wunderkind  Matt Rife .

They’ll be joined by household names  John Mulaney ,  Jon Stewart ,  Ali Wong ,  Seth Rogen , and  Sarah Silverman .

As of now, over 270 events have been announced for the  sprawling, mega event , the first since 2022.

You can get tickets for the show of your choosing  here .

Upcoming Kevin Hart projects

Kevin Hart can’t stop working.

On top of his upcoming tour dates, he also has eight (!) movies and TV shows set for release in the near future.

Here’s what we know about each of the future flicks.

“Planes, Trains & Automobiles”  might sound familiar. In this reimagining of the 1987 classic, Hart co-stars with Will Smith as “a pair of unlikely travel companions trying to make their destinations in time for the Holiday weekend.”

“My Own Worst Enemy”  tells the story of an agent sent on a dangerous assignment and then receives an assist from an unlikely informant. Tim Story has been tapped to direct.

“The Great Outdoors”  will see Hart star in a remake of the 1988 John Candy-Dan Aykroyd comedy where a family on vacation repeatedly gets interrupted by their irritating in-laws. Teena Lewis and Tristan Cantave are set to co-star.

“Ride Along 3”  is an extension of the popular Hart-Ice Cube franchise featuring Hart as a well-meaning high school teacher who applies to the police academy to impress the girl of his dreams (Tika Sumpter). There, he meets her tough brother (Ice Cube), who, you guessed it, takes him on a ride along to set him straight. According to  Looper , director Tim Story wants to take the ongoing series to another country in a future installment.

“Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist”  has just Hart attached now; the series will tell the story of the infamous armed robbery after Muhammad Ali’s historical comeback fight in 1970.

“Borderlands,”  based on the popular video game, takes place on the desolate, fictional planet Pandora. In this abandoned world, adventurers seek out an elusive artifact. The stacked cast features Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gina Gershon and Bobby Lee.

“Uptown Saturday Night”  centers around a pair of pals’ night out where they chill at an illegal club, come upon a lost wallet, and find a winning lottery ticket. Based on the 1974 classic featuring Sidney Poitier, Flip Wilson, Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, and Harry Belafonte. Rick Famuyiwa (“Dope,” “The Chi”) will direct from a script by Kenya Barris (“Blackish,” “Coming 2 America”).

“Monopoly,”  currently in development, finds a boy from the board game’s Baltic Avenue on a journey to make some cold, hard Monopoly cash. Tim Story will direct Hart again in a script by noted sci-fi screenwriter Andrew Niccol (“Truman Show,” “Gattaca”). Here’s hoping the movie, which has yet to enter pre-production, “gets out of jail free.”

“Die Hart 2: Die Harter” signals a return to Hart’s Amazon Prime series where he “plans an innovative action film with unscripted, unexpected scenes to cement his legacy as the greatest,” IMDb reports. Of course, high-stakes hijinks ensue. Nathalie Emmanuel, Ben Schwartz, Paula Pell and John Cena co-star.

2 men charged in the UK with spying for China are granted bail after a court appearance in London

Britain china spying.

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

LONDON (AP) — A former researcher working in the U.K. Parliament and another man charged with spying for China were granted bail Friday after an initial court appearance in London.

Christopher Cash, 29, and Christopher Berry , 32, were charged with violating the Official Secrets Act by providing information or documents that could be “useful to an enemy” — China — and “prejudicial to the safety or interests” of the U.K. between late 2021 and February 2023.

The two, who didn't enter a plea during their appearance at Westminster Magistrates' Court, are accused of being in contact with each other and a person suspected of being a Chinese intelligence agent.

Cash, a parliamentary researcher who worked with senior lawmakers from the governing Conservatives, was ordered not to enter Parliament or contact members of the House of Commons.

Cash’s colleagues included Alicia Kearns, who now heads the powerful Foreign Affairs Committee, and her predecessor in that role, Tom Tugendhat , who is now security minister.

Berry is reportedly an academic based in Oxfordshire who has taught in China since 2015.

The defendants were also ordered not to to travel outside the U.K. or contact each other. They were ordered to appear May 10 at the Central Criminal Court known as the Old Bailey for a preliminary hearing.

The Chinese Embassy has called the allegations “completely fabricated” and “malicious slander,” and urged the U.K. to “stop anti-China political manipulation.”

The pair were charged the same day that three people were arrested in Germany on suspicion of spying for China and arranging to transfer information on technology with potential military uses.

Also on Monday, an assistant to a prominent German far-right lawmaker in the European Parliament was arrested on suspicion of spying for China.

British intelligence authorities have ratcheted up their warnings about Beijing’s covert activities in recent years.

Deputy PM Winston Peters to meet President Erdogan to conclude tour of Turkiye

Watch: Newshub's Lisette Reymer is in Turkey for Anzac Day commemorations. Credits: Newshub.

At a time of global uncertainty, the commemorations at Anzac Cove have amplified the call for peace and diplomacy.

Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters has been among those championing that message in the Middle East this week, and he's lined up a big meeting to complete his tour of Türkiye.

Home doesn't feel quite so far away when New Zealanders stand together at Chunuk Bair.

More from Newshub

It was a stirring finale to Türkiye's Anzac Day commemorations on the hill nearly 900 Kiwi men died fighting for.

It's a heartache that has been shared across continents and decades, and the Anzac crowd again pledged to never forget.

But to simply remember, is not enough either.

Newshub asked the Deputy PM if he believed the world has learnt lessons from the past.

"Well that's a fair question, there's no evidence in the way that there should be. Although we have lived majorly without a world war for a long long time," Peters replied.

Reflecting on the immense loss of life at Gallipoli all those years ago pulls into sharper focus the conflicts currently occurring around the world.

"It makes our world a very sad place because we have no vision anymore, no peaceful vision," one Anzac attendee told Newshub.

"You could be forgiven for thinking we had forgotten those lessons, it's a trying time," said another.

In the Middle East, peace is fractured and fraught, while efforts of diplomacy are in overdrive.

On Saturday, Peters will meet with Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan - who just last week drew criticism for meeting with the chief of Hamas.

"That's Türkiye's business," Peters said.

"But Hamas, under New Zealand designation recently, is a terrorist organisation," he added.

Peters told Newshub he doesn't judge people by their associates.

"Half the world believes that my enemy's enemy is my friend - this is complicated."

And commemorations like these serve as a constant reminder of what's at stake.

Ellen DeGeneres Addresses ‘Getting Kicked Out of Show Business’ on Her New Comedy Tour: ‘It’s Been a Toll on My Ego’

By Krystie Lee Yandoli

Krystie Lee Yandoli

As she strode onto the famed comedy stage of the Largo at the Coronet Theater in the heart of West Hollywood on Wednesday night, Ellen DeGeneres was a woman in command. A sold-out crowd of about 200 fans burst into roaring applause, eager to see the comedian turned talk-show host return to her comedy roots on the first night of her Ellen’s Last Stand…Up Tour . And she didn’t disappoint. Dressed in a simple, black long-sleeved shirt, white pants, and sneakers, DeGeneres addressed the elephant in the room with her first words.

“I used to say that I didn’t care what other people thought of me and I realized…I said that at the height of my popularity,” DeGeneres said, prompting the audience to erupt in laughter. “It is such a waste of time to worry about what other people think…Right now I’m hoping you’re thinking, ‘This is marvelous, I’m so happy to be here.’ But you could be thinking, ‘Let’s see how this goes.’”

Editor’s picks

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.

Her Wednesday night set — culled from material DeGeneres said she’s been working on for about six months, including in a handful of performances — kicked off with a recap of what she’s been up to since her talk-show ended: gardening, a lot of sweatpants-wearing, and collecting chickens as pets. She joked that as someone who once hosted a daily show, she appreciates the plight of the chicken who has to lay an egg every day. Still, most of the routine found her grappling with having become Public Enemy No. 1 — a whiplash turn from her once-firm reputation as the happy-go-lucky talk-show host who ended each episode telling her audience to “be kind to one another.”

“What else can I tell you?” she mused, mock-reflecting on her recent past before adding sarcastically, “Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business. There’s no mean people in show business.”

Richard lewis, comic and 'curb your enthusiasm' star, dead at 76, kate berlant's killer solo show is all about losing control.

“I didn’t go to business school. I went to Charlie’s Chuckle Hutt,” DeGeneres joked. “The show was called Ellen and everybody was wearing T-shirts that said ‘Ellen’ and there were buildings on the Warner Brothers lot that said ‘Ellen,’ but I don’t know that that meant I should be in charge.”

She chalked up some of the vitriol she faced at the time to sexism, noting that “there are consequences” for not following the pre-existing rules and gender roles. Referencing the cancellation of her eponymous sitcom in the 1990s after she’d announced to the world that she was gay, she added wryly, “For those of you keeping score, this is the second time I’ve been kicked out of show business…Eventually they’re going to kick me out for a third time because I’m mean, old, and gay.”

The demise of her talk show seems especially painful for DeGeneres since, as she described in her set, it had been her way back to being embraced after her Nineties exile. “I’m giving stuff away…and I danced, then I was mean and they didn’t like me again,” she said. “It’s been such a toll on my ego and my self-esteem. There’s such extremes in this business, people either love you and idolize you or they hate you, and those people somehow are louder.”

As a 66-year-old woman, DeGeneres said she’s also grown increasingly aware of the aging process both physically and mentally. She finds herself thinking about existential subjects like time and the universe, and said her doctor recently told her she has osteoporosis and arthritis. Plus, she joked, now she’s at a point in her life where she’s obsessing over Wheel of Fortune .

Bringing up chickens as another metaphor for women and gender roles, DeGeneres made her point with “one last chicken joke,” as she put it. “Why did the chicken cross the road? Because she wanted to and you wouldn’t ask a rooster that.”

At the conclusion of her set, the crowd gave DeGeneres a standing ovation, prompting her to return to the stage for a candid conversation with the audience. DeGeneres called on people one by one as they asked questions and shared messages of gratitude. One same-sex couple said they had gotten married earlier that day and asked for marital advice. (DeGeneres’ wife of 16 years, Portia de Rossi, briefly made an appearance onstage during the Q&A, at fans’ request; DeGeneres explained that the last few years had been very tough on de Rossi as well, saying, “We were both just laying low for a while.”) One woman thanked DeGeneres for her original Netflix comedy special (2018’s Relatable ) because it made her mom laugh when she was diagnosed with cancer. Another woman expressed her thanks to DeGeneres for participating in her autistic daughter’s bat mitzvah. One person who said they’d been inspired by DeGeneres’ positivity asked if she used dancing as a means of escape during her recent tough period.

“No. It’s hard to dance when you’re crying,” DeGeneres replied. “But I am dancing now.”

DeGeneres flashed another moment of sensitivity and bewilderment when a fan asked if her first go-round with public scrutiny after coming out prepared her for the next one, when The Ellen DeGeneres Show collapsed.

“This was a whole different thing,” she replied. “This was like, ‘What is going on?’ It was so hurtful. I couldn’t gain perspective. I couldn’t do anything to make myself understand that it wasn’t personal… I just thought, ‘Well this is not the way I wanted to end my career, but this is the way it’s ending.’”

DeGeneres added that it took her a long time to figure out what she wanted to say on the topic and how she wanted to say it.

Citing the self-help book The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom , DeGeneres explained that she’s made her peace with the fact that everyone has their own reasons for making certain choices and “they have to live with their stuff.”

“I do realize that whatever happens may have nothing to do with me, it’s just somebody else’s stuff,” she said. “So no, I will not [seek revenge].”
