Different Ways to Get From Miami to Disney World

There are a few different options when it comes to traveling from Miami to Disney World. You could drive, fly, rent a car, use a rideshare, take a bus, or a train. You could also use a combination of those options! Let’s take a closer look at each option for further information on each one.

Drive Your Own Vehicle

Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy

The first option for traveling from Miami to Disney World would be to drive your own vehicle. This may be the most comfortable and convenient option for some travelers. When driving your own vehicle, you won’t need to make any traveling arrangements prior to your travel date. You’ll also have the comfort of a familiar driver and vehicle.

A trip from Miami to Disney World in your own vehicle will be about 3 hours and 30 minutes. The cost of driving your own vehicle would of course be $0. However, you will want to keep in mind that you’ll be paying for gas along the way as well as tolls.

When Driving Your Own Vehicle From Miami to Disney World:

  • Cost – Gas and Tolls
  • Travel Time – 3 Hours 30 Minutes

Book a Flight

Flight of Passage queue

While some may not think about flying since Miami is only a few hours away, it actually is possible to book a flight! Timewise, flying is going to be the fastest option on this list. A flight from Miami International Airport to Orlando International Airport is only about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

However, even though the flight itself is short, remember that it will take up more of your time than that. You’ll want to consider the time beforehand as well as afterwards. Normally, you’re instructed to arrive at the airport at least a couple hours before your flight to ensure that you have time to get through security and get your luggage checked in (if you have any). If you do have luggage, you’ll want to add on the additional time at the end of the flight that it usually takes to collect your bags.

Of course, the cost of your flight will vary depending on which airline you take as well as the date. Currently, I’m able to find one-way flights from Miami to Orlando for an average of $65-$120. You may have additional charges for seats and luggage.

Something else you’ll want to consider when flying is how you’re going to get from the airport to Disney World, as that will be an additional cost. From the airport, you can rent a car, use a rideshare, or shuttle service .

When Flying From Miami to Disney World:

  • Cost – Current average one-way cost of $65-$120 ( Plus seats, bags, and transportation from the airport to Disney World)
  • Travel Time – 1 Hour 15 Minutes

Drive a Rental Car

Cruz from Hollywood Studios

Choosing to drive a rental car from Miami to Disney World is very similar to driving your own vehicle. One similarity would be travel time. Whether you’re driving your own vehicle or driving one that you’ve rented, it will still take you about 3 hours and 30 minutes to get from Miami to Disney World. Another similarity would be the comfort of knowing your driver, whether that be yourself or someone else in your party.

As far as cost goes, you’d similarly have to pay for gas and tolls. You would, however, have the additional cost of renting the car. The cost of your rental will vary depending on which car rental company you use, what type of vehicle you rent, and how long you rent the vehicle for.

When Driving a Rental Car From Miami to Disney World:

  • Cost – Gas, Tolls, and Car Rental

Use a Rideshare

Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway sign

If you’re unfamiliar, a rideshare is when you make an arrangement for a driver to take you from one location to another. It’s similar to a taxi service, except when you use a rideshare, the driver is using their own personal vehicle. Usually, rideshares are used for much shorter distances. However, it is possible to take a rideshare from Miami to Disney World.

If you prefer someone else to drive you places, taking a rideshare from Miami to Disney World may be something that you want to consider. It is, however, very pricey to take a rideshare for this far of a distance. While the prices may look similar to what a rental car would cost you, remember that rideshare prices are only one-way. When you rent a car, you have that vehicle for the duration of your trip.

The two most popular rideshare companies are Uber and Lyft. The estimated travel time for a ride with Uber from Miami to Disney World is 4 hours and 10 minutes. Lyft’s estimated travel time is 5 hours. Prices for rideshares vary depending on time of day, how busy they are, and which vehicle type you want. However, I will provide a list of prices that I was given when writing this article so you can see an estimate.

When Taking a Rideshare from Miami to Disney World:

  • 7 hrs/140 miles
  • None were available. No price was given.
  • Travel Time – 4-5 Hours

50th Anniversary Disney bus

Another way you can get from Miami to Disney World is by bus. A popular bus company that you could use is Greyhound. The amount of time that it will take for your bus trip will depend on which route you choose. However, the shortest amount of time for a trip with Greyhound will be 3 hours and 45 minutes and have a minimum of 2 stops. Greyhound trips from Miami to Orlando can cost as little as $24.99, but can cost more. The highest price that I’m currently seeing is $70.99. Tickets can be purchased online, on the app, or in person with cash. The price of your Greyhound ticket includes your ride, one carry-on bag, and one bag that is stored underneath. On the bus, you’ll also have access to free Wi-Fi, electrical ports, reclining seats, foot rests, extra leg room, and a restroom.

When riding a bus, you won’t be dropped off directly at the Walt Disney World Resort. You will arrive at a bus station. Similarly to the airport, you will need to have transportation for the rest of your trip to Disney World. Renting a car won’t be an option at the bus station, but you can still use a rideshare, taxi, or shuttle service.

When Taking a Bus From Miami to Disney World:

  • Cost – Current prices are $24.99-$70.99
  • Travel Time – 3 Hours 45 Minutes  (Minimum)

Take the Brightline Train

Brightline Train

Brightline is the newest form of transportation that you can use for your journey from Miami to Disney World. Unlike regular trains, this is a high-speed passenger train. It provides transportation from Miami to Orlando and also makes stops in Adventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach.

When riding with Brightline, you can choose to ride SMART or PREMIUM. SMART is defined as “Comfortable business-class” while PREMIUM is defined as “First-class experience with added amenities”.

Depending on which ride you choose, your ride will include:

  • Hand-stitched leather 19-inch seats

  • Onboard beverage available for purchase
  • Low hourly & daily rates in Brightline’s garages

Direct rides from Miami to Orlando with Brightline range from 3 hours and 25 minutes to 3 hours and 30 minutes. Again, as with a lot of the other methods of transportation, you will need to secure additional transportation from the Orlando station in order to get the rest of the way to Disney World. Prices for Brightline vary depending on the date and time of day. I will show a list of prices throughout a single day to give you an idea of the pricing.

Disney World Magic Kingdom

Miami is only 230 miles from Walt Disney World. That is just a short 3 and a half hour drive or a 1 hour flight! It is incredibly easy to go from one of Florida’s greatest party areas to the most Magical Place on Earth.

Whether you are planning a one day trip to Disney World to experience a festival at EPCOT or maybe you want to be at Disney for the latest ride opening, there are many different ways to get from Miami to Walt Disney World. Some travel options are definitely better than others, but we are going to guide you through those so you can make the best decision.

We visit Walt Disney World weekly and often travel between different areas in Florida. In fact, traveling from the Miami area to Walt Disney World is popular for guests either before or after enjoying a Disney Cruise.

In this planning guide:

Drive/ Rent a Car from Miami to Disney World

The easiest way to get from Miami to Disney is to drive. This method takes the hassle out of booking something ahead of time and trying to get all of the times to align with your plans. The downside to driving is factoring the tolls, gas, the wear and tear on your car, and the traffic you will encounter.

If you don’t want to drive your specific car or maybe you booked a trip to Miami and just want a day trip to Disney, you can always rent a car and then drive. This does involve an extra cost of the rental car and dealing with the bookings, but it is another option if you like having the freedom of your own car versus relying on other modes of transportation.

tour miami disney world

If choosing to drive, taking the Florida Turnpike and I-95 North is the fastest way to drive from Miami to Orlando. If you take this route, the trip should take you around three and a half hours and the route is 230 miles.

Again, while driving has its major benefits, the biggest downside is the traffic that can turn a 3 and a half hour drive into a four or four and a half hours.

Take a Train from Miami to Orlando

Another option that is great if you don’t want to drive or don’t have access to a car, is to take the train. There are two train options when going from Miami to Orlando.

An Amtrak train from Miami to Orlando is an easy option. The trip will last between five hours and seven and a half hours depending on which train you choose. Pricing is around $75 in total for the trip.

If you plan to take a train, you should expect to stay in Orlando overnight due to the timing of the trains. You will most likely lose the time that you want to do your activities, so it is best to do this option when you want to stay for a few days. Another downside to taking the train is you will have to use other transportation options to get from the station to Disney World.

tour miami disney world

The newest train option to go between Orlando and Miami is the Brightline Train. Brightline high-speed rail service from Miami to the new Orlando Station at Orlando International Airport is available. Choose from the budget-friendly Smart Service ticket level or treat yourself to Premium Service, which includes free drinks, snacks and priority boarding. Pricing is based on when you depart and return, but guests can book in March for $79.00 for SMART or $149 for Premium one way.

The Brightline train is much quicker than Amtrak in that it can get you between the two stations in only three and a half hours. Parking at this station is only $20 per day.

Catch a Flight from Miami to Orlando

Flying from Miami to Orlando may seem like the best option since it is the shortest on the surface, at only an hour, but flying does come with many downsides, one being that you will wait longer in the security line on your return from MCO than your entire flight.

tour miami disney world

In addition, smaller planes are used to fly between Miami and Orlando so the flights may not be as readily available. Booking early is the best way to ensure you get the dates and times you want. Spirit, American Airlines, Delta, Southwest, Jet Blue, Frontier, and United all fly between Miami and Orlando.

The last item to consider when flying is how to get from the airport to Walt Disney World. To read more about options from MCO (Orlando airport) to Walt Disney World, read our article  Mears Connect Airport Shuttle to Disney World Guide 2024 or  How Much is Uber and Lyft From Orlando Airport to Disney World? .

Ride a Bus from Miami to Orlando

A bus is another option for visitors that do not want to drive between Miami and Orlando. There are a few different bus lines that offer routes between Miami and Orlando.

Through Greyhound, you can book a variety of time options for your departure and return. Greyhound has added more bus routes using FlixBus.

The total trip is around six hours by bus for $80 round trip. You can also add upgrades such as select your seat or ride neighbor free. For baggage, you are able to bring one carry on and one stored bag.

tour miami disney world

Megabus is another company that offers bus routes that are about four and a half hours. The Megabus is a luxury double decker that offers at-seat power outlets, panoramic windows and a green alternative way to travel.

The bus departs at the Miami Intermodal Center and arrives at Florida Mall. This is located in the parking lot adjacent to the Lynx Florida Mall Superstop. Keep in mind overnight parking is not allowed, so if you are traveling from Orlando to Miami, you will not be able to park your car at the Orlando station.

Tickets for this bus are $35 one way, but seat upgrades can be bought for an additional fee. Guests are able to bring one piece of luggage and a personal item with them.

tour miami disney world

RedCoach is another bus option from Miami to Orlando. One way tickets range from $24.99 to $49.99 depending on the time you are looking to depart and which seating class you choose. Pricing will also vary by season and holidays. The RedCoach bus is between four to four and a half hours for a trip. Guest will get to choose their seat on the bus based upon the seating class. Guests are able to check two pieces of luggage and bring a carry on item with them for travel.

tour miami disney world

As with many of the other options above, you will need to plan in time to get from the bus station to Disney World and what transportation you are going to use to get there. With the time it takes by bus, it is also a smart idea to use this transportation if staying overnight.

Take a Rideshare Service to Miami

Another option to get from Miami to Walt Disney World is to book a rideshare service from your location in Miami.

A one way trip from Miami to Walt Disney World booked during a non-peak time is between $287 – $358 for an UberX and $507-$645 for an UberXL. Booking an Uber is not the cheapest option of the ones listed here in this article, especially when you have to also book the ride back. In addition, it may be difficult to find a driver willing to drive the long journey.

tour miami disney world

You can also request an estimate from Lyft. When getting estimates for a Lyft, the company explains that it provided you with a price for the Lyft fare, Local tolls or fees, and Tips to your driver, but notes that between the time of the estimate and booking can change the price. To book a Lyft for 4 people is between $250 and $297.  To book an extra comfort would be $420 and a Lyft black is $755 one way.

Things to Consider When Booking Travel from Miami

Before fully deciding on what method of travel you are going to take between Miami and Orlando, it is important to take a few factors into account.

Most of the time driving is going to be the cheapest option for any budget, but booking ahead and searching for deals for the bus, train, and flights, you could also fit any of these travel options into the budget you have set for your trip. Our family typically drives to Disney because even though we can sometimes find deals for our family, driving is typically always the cheapest and worth it for our family.

tour miami disney world

If you choose to drive, it is important to think about parking fees for the hotel you may stay at when visiting Disney. The on-property resorts have free parking for guests, so the parking fees would only apply for non-property hotels.

If choosing not to drive, you will need to factor in parking your car at the airport terminal, bus locations, or train stations.

tour miami disney world

The daily rate for the parking garage at the Miami Airport is $25.00. Valet Parking at the Miami Airport is $39.00 daily.

If taking the Greyhound bus from Miami and loading at the Golden Glades Multimodal Facility. Parking is available in the garage for no fee.

Parking at the Amtrak station for day and overnight is available through different lots. Amtrak does not have its own parking garage; however, Amtrak recommends using Spot Hero for parking.

3. Time Restraints & Convenience

When booking your travel, it is important to note if there are any specific time restraints to your travel.

A car will offer the most flexibility for leaving and arrival times. You can also stop along the way and pick up groceries or any other necessities if staying for multiple days.

Taking a flight is a large time commitment despite it being only an hour long flight. Most airports suggest getting to the airport at least two hours before your flight time. The MCO (Orlando) Airport suggestion is actually three hours ahead of time due to how busy security lines can be. I have waited a short 30 minutes at MCO and almost two hours at MCO. There is just no easy way to tell. This turns a one hour flight into at least a three hour adventure for your trip. When arriving you will need to either book a Mears driven by Sunshine Flyer bus or a Rideshare to get to your resort.

tour miami disney world

The train and bus have very set departure and arrival times, and while you don’t have to be at the stations as early as a plane, it is still a specific schedule that cannot be altered. If you miss your departure time, you are stuck trying to find an alternate option to get to your destination.

With the flight, train, and bus option, you also don’t have the convenience of a car to stop on the way to Disney property where you want. You will have to book some type of rideshare like Uber or Lyft and add a stop. Having to book a rideshare can also add time to your travel if you arrive or depart at a busy hour and have to wait.

4. Travel Companions

The final consideration when traveling is who are you traveling with? Depending on if you are traveling by yourself or with a large group, you may choose different modes of transportation to appeal to each individual.

If traveling solo, the bus or train may be a great option because you don’t have to worry about driving by yourself. You can use that time to sleep, read, or even work on the trip.

My family almost always chooses to drive to Disney because being in the car doesn’t bother my kids. However, my sister-in-law and brother-in-law always choose to fly because my nephew gets carsick on long drives.

You may not be able to fly if you have someone you are traveling with that is afraid of heights or health conditions that don’t make it safe to fly.

Another travel companion consideration is how much luggage you will have. The car typically provides the most space for items. Depending on the airline, you could have many bag options for cheap, such as Southwest, or the bags could be an extra expense, such as American Airlines. Most trains and bus options allow you to have a certain number of bags for free before having to pay for extra. It is important to consider what your travel companions will need to pack before choosing a transportation option.

There are many ways to travel from Miami to Disney World including a plane, train, bus, driving, and rideshares. With only 230 miles, or about 3 hours of travel, it is an easy day trip to take or you can stay for a few days.

There are bus options such as Redcoach, Megacoach, and Greyhound that offer bus routes between Miami to Orlando.

Yes, Amtrak runs from Miami to Orlando. There are two trains that run the route. Guests can book seats or a private room.

The fasted transportation option from Orlando to Miami is to take a flight. However, once adding in travel time to and from the airport and waiting at the security lines, driving is almost as quick and slightly more convenient.

How Far Is Disney World From Miami and What Are the Best Ways to Get There?

posted by James Brockbank on February 28, 2022 // last updated on February 28, 2022

Planning to journey from beautiful, vibrant Miami to exciting Disney World in Orlando? To help you get there safely and quickly, we have all the information you need on the trip from Miami to Orlando. There are numerous ways to get from one city to the other, and they all take a varying amount of time and fall into different price ranges.

So that you can educate yourself on the available options and make an informed decision, we’ve explained the five best ways to get from point A to point B and some of the estimated costs.

Choosing the right transportation method comes down to more than just the duration of the journey and the cost, so read until the end for important factors to consider when planning this trip.

How Far Is Disney World From Miami?

Where are disney and miami located, 1. drive i-95 north, 2. drive fl-60 west, 5. fly , budget , demographic, bottom line.

tour miami disney world

The distance between Miami and Disney World in Orlando is 230 miles. When driving, this distance takes roughly three hours and 20 minutes.

If you are considering doing a day trip from Miami to Disney World, this is definitely possible but will likely not be the most enjoyable experience. Seven hours in a car doesn’t leave much time for fun at the park, and long car rides take a significant toll on kids, and adults, honestly.

tour miami disney world

For starters, Miami and Disney World are both in Florida , so they are not too far from one another. Orlando is in the center of Florida, closer to the east side of the state. Miami is all the way at the bottom of the state, right on the coast.

5 Best Ways to Get There

To help you plan your trip, this is a quick rundown of the five best ways to get from Miami to Orlando so you can enjoy the theme parks Disney has to offer.

tour miami disney world

Taking the Florida Turnpike and I-95 North is the fastest way to drive from Miami to Florida. If you take this route, the trip should take you around three and a half hours and the route is 230 miles. While this is the most popular route, people sometimes avoid it because of the traffic.

If you don’t mind a slightly longer drive that is likely to have less traffic, you can take the Florida Turnpike and FL-60 West .

Taking this route, you’ll have to drive for about four hours—243 miles. But there is a possibility this route could save you time if I-95 is packed with traffic. Consider taking this slightly longer route if you go to Disney during the height of tourist season in the summer.

If you don’t want to drive or don’t have access to a car, taking an Amtrak train from Miami to Disney is an easy option. You can board an Amtrak train going to Orlando from Miami at Lakeland Amtrak Station, Kissimmee Amtrak Station, Lynx Kissimmee Intermodal Station, or the Walt Disney World Transportation and Ticket Center.

The cost to take an Amtrak train for this distance is about $75, depending on which train station you buy your ticket at. The length of this trip is around seven and a half hours, which is almost double the time it takes to drive yourself. If you plan to take a train, you should expect to stay in Orlando overnight, so plan accordingly.

There are a handful of buses that will get you from Miami to Orlando. A Greyhound bus travels from Miami to Orlando and back not once, but twice a day, giving you two opportunities to make it to Disney this way.

Greyhound bus tickets can cost between $30 and $50 for a one-way, depending on the type of ticket you purchase. Greyhound offers flexible tickets that you can reschedule with ease. It takes these buses around six and a half hours to get from Miami to Orlando.

If Disney World is going to be the focus of your Florida trip, it may be easier to fly directly into Orlando. The airport closest to Disney World is the Orlando International Airport (MCO). If, for some reason, you must fly into Miami, it is possible to take a flight from Miami International Airport right to Orlando International Airport.

The flight will be around an hour or less, so you’ll likely spend as much time in security and at your gate as you will on the plane. If you hate airports and the effort of boarding a plane and deplaning, this is not the best option for you. The price of these flights is hard to say, as it varies wildly depending on the time of year and many other factors.

The other issue with flying from Miami to Orlando is that there are not always a plethora of these small flights available, since driving is such an available option for most. If you plan to fly, make sure you book your flight ahead of time and plan accordingly around those flights.

tour miami disney world

Considerations

There are some aspects of your trip to keep in mind when deciding the best way to get from Miami to Florida. Since there are a variety of options, consider these factors to help you figure out the best transportation method for your vacation.

As mentioned, the I-95 driving route is technically shorter but can take longer, depending on traffic. You can check apps like Waze the day of to get an idea of what traffic will be like and decide that way.

The time of year you go plays a huge role in this as Disney around summer and spring vacation will be packed with tourists. But if you go in October instead or around a big holiday, you may be able to avoid the I-95 traffic and make it there in a tight three hours and 20 minutes.

Keep in mind that if you drive to Disney, you also have to park at Disney. Parking at Disney can be a true nightmare and can take significant time out of your theme park day. If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of parking, which also costs money, then it’s best you don’t drive to Orlando.

If your trip from Miami to Orlando is about more than just Disney, there may be pitstops along the way you and your family want to check out. If this is the case, consider which pitstops you want to see and what highway they run along so you can pick the best route to take to see all the attractions.

Another reason for pitstops is if you have little kids, they’ll likely need the bathroom at least once throughout the almost four-hour drive. If you know your group will want to make frequent stops to use the restroom, get food, or sightsee, a train or bus will not be the right transportation method.

Of course, you should choose the transportation method that fits your budget. It’s hard to say what the cheapest option will be, but it is likely one of the Greyhound buses unless you have your own car. But even with your car, gas and parking fees can add up quickly.

As mentioned, the flight prices can’t be discussed for certain as they change often, but ins some situations this could be the cheapest option, especially if you don’t have significant luggage. Driving gives you more freedom but renting a car can be expensive, especially in Florida, and if you are under 25 it could cost you thousands in insurance just for a day rental.

Flying or taking the train with a large group of five or more people can be a major hassle. But if you are just traveling in a couple, these things are easier.

On the other hand, a group of four adults can switch off driving shifts, but a solo vacationer will have to drive the entire way by themselves. Consider how the size of your group will fit into these transportation methods and if your choice is practical for the number of people you are with.

Just as important as group size is group dynamic. Are you a family of four with small kids? Are you a newlywed couple? Are you a group of five adults? A small baby will likely struggle more on a bus than they would in a car. Newlyweds will likely have no problem taking this short flight, as if this is a honeymoon, it will have been planned ahead.

For this consideration, it comes down to your own judgment call. Some babies love planes, some hate them, some adults hate driving, some prefer it to a bus, so you need to account for you and your group’s preferences.

There is no one correct way to travel from Miami to Orlando, so you can choose any of the options discussed and likely have a wonderful time on your vacation. Make sure you plan enough time to actually enjoy the theme parks, and if you think you will need overnight accommodations, plan these before going to be safe.

itinerario miami disney orlando

1. Miami Downtown, Bayfront Park y Key Biscayne

itinerario disney world Orlando

7. Walt Disney World (Orlando): Magic Kingdom

itinerario por Disney World Orlando

8. Walt Disney World (Orlando): Epcot

9. Walt Disney World (Orlando): Animal Kingdom

recorrido Orlando Disney World

10. Walt Disney World (Orlando): Disney Hollywood Studios

  • Walt Disney World Ticket Prices 2024: Frequently Asked Questions

For 2024, Walt Disney World ticket prices start at $109 per person and max out at $189  for a one-park, one-day ticket. This price doesn’t include the 6.5% sales tax, or any add-on options like Park Hopper, Memory Makert, or the Water Park and Sports option.

Screenshot from Disney World website for December 2024 tickets

This base ticket price is for guests ages ten and up. Guests from ages three to nine have a slightly lower range from a one-park, one-day ticket, ranging from $104 to $184. And remember, guests under three years old don’t need a ticket. Keep in mind that prices can increase at any point. Typically Disney will see one or two price hikes a year, so purchasing your tickets well in advance could potentially save you money in the long run.

2024 also brought a big change to Park Pass reservations . If you purchase a date-based ticket, you will no longer need to make a Park Pass reservation However, if you are not buying date-based tickets, you must still make a Park Pass reservation for the dates you intend to go.

You can purchase your Disney World park tickets well in advance of whenever you’re planning to visit in 2024. Currently, you can purchase your tickets all the way out through December 31st, 2024. Want to check theme park availability before buying your Disney World tickets? You can check out the calendar of available Park Pass reservations for over one year in advance of your visit on the Disney website.

The price of your Disney World ticket will depend on what park you’re visiting and when. If you are looking to purchase one adult (ages 10 and up) ticket for one-park, one-day, these are the range of prices you can expect:

  • Magic Kingdom ticket price: $134 to $189
  • EPCOT tickets : $119 to $179
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios tickets: $129 to $184
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom tickets: $109 to $164

Suppose you plan on spending a significant length of time in Disney for your vacation. In that case, it’s always worth pricing out whether a Disney World Annual Pass is going to be a better bang for your buck than purchasing individual ticket packages. Here’s a breakdown of the Annual Pass types :

  • Disney Incredi-Pass ($1,449 per person, available to all guests)
  • Disney Sorcerer Pass ($999 per person, available for Florida residents and DVC members)
  • Disney Pirate Pass ($799 per person, available for Florida residents only)
  • Disney Pixie Dust Pass ($439 per person, available for Florida residents only)

Keep in mind that blackout dates apply for all pass types except for the Disney Incredi-Pass, so you will want to research those in advance if you’re considering purchasing an Annual Pass. You can read everything you need to know about the Disney World Annual Pass types at the link below.

Complete Guide to Disney World Annual Passes

When purchasing a Disney World ticket, you will have a variety of different options as add-ons. These will all add to the overall cost of your ticket but can be worth it if it will add overall time and value to your vacation. We will break down each of these options below.

Park Hopper and Park Hopper Plus Add-Ons

The most common add-on for Disney World Tickets is the Park Hopper, which is available as either the regular Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus. The regular Park Hopper option allows you to visit more than one theme park on the same day, while Park Hopper Plus allows you to visit all four theme parks plus either water park on the same day. Adding the standard Park Hopper will cost about $188 to $254 per ticket, depending on your visiting dates. The Park Hopper Plus option will cost about $208 to $274, again, depending on the dates you are visiting.

How does Park Hopper work? All-day park hopping access has returned, which means that at any point during the day, you may visit a second, third, or even fourth park of your choosing.

Water Park and Sports Add-On

For $70 , you can add the Water Park and Sports option to your ticket. In addition to entry to one of Disney World’s four parks, you can choose one of the following:

  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
  • Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
  • ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
  • Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course – FootGolf
  • Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
  • Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course
  • Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course

Memory Maker

With Memory Maker, you can download and share all of the Disney PhotoPass photos and videos you take during your visit. Whether you’re capturing a single day or a full week of fun, Memory Maker is flexible – and it gives you everything from picture-perfect photos at iconic park locations to Magic Shots to special extras.

There are three options when purchasing Memory Maker: a discounted pre-vacation price, a one-day price, and the price of purchasing during or after your vacation. The cost of each of these options is:

  • Memory Maker (Advance Purchase): $185
  • Memory Maker (During and Post-Vacation): $210
  • Memory Maker One Day: $75

Genie+ (and Lightning Lane)

Looking to skip the line? Then you’ll want to add Disney Genie+ to your budget. Disney Genie+ is an additional cost per person , per day that will give you access to Lightning Lane entrances throughout the day. Lightning Lanes are an alternative, faster way to skip by the typical Standby line.

However, you can also purchase individual Lightning Lane entries for single rides. Some of the hottest rides throughout the resort, like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and TRON Lightcycle / Run are available for individual Lightning Lane entry purchases. This is an additional per person, per ride cost that is separate from Disney Genie+.

Genie+ and individual Lightning Lane entries vary in price , depending on demand, seasonality, and which park you’re visiting. You’ll need to check the My Disney Experience app each day for the price. There is also the option to purchase multi-park Genie+ if you plan to visit more than one park per day.

You can also add the Disney Dining Plan to your vacation package. Two options are available, the Quick Service Dining Plan and the standard Disney Dining Plan. The cost of the Disney Dining Plan depends on which option you choose. The Quick Service Dining Plan costs $57.01/per adult per night and $23.83/per child (3-9) per night. The standard Dining Plan costs $94.28/per adult per night and $29.69/per child (ages 3-9) per night.

Quick Service Dining Plan

If you purchase the Quick Service Dining Plan, each person aged three and up will get the following:

  • 2 Quick Service Meal Per Night of Stay
  • 1 Snack or Non-alcoholic Beverage Per Night of Stay
  • 1 Resort Refillable Mug

The Disney Dining Plan

he Standard Disney Dining Plan is more geared toward table service. Each person aged three and up will get the following:

  • 1 Quick Service Meal Per Night of Stay
  • 1 Table Service Meal Per Night of Stay
  • 1 Snack or Nonalcoholic Beverage Per Night of Stay

To read more about what is (and isn’t) included with the Disney Dining Plan, you can read our comprehensive guide below.

The Disney Dining Plan: A Complete Guide

You have numerous options when it comes to Disney World transportation . You can take resort transportation, like the complimentary buses, boats, or monorail routes that travel from Disney World hotels to the parks and Disney Springs. Or, you can drive yourself and pay for parking . While theme park parking is complimentary for Disney World hotel guests or Annual Passholders, if you have a regular ticket and are not staying on the property, you will need to pay to park.

The parking lot at Animal Kingdom. Photo by Laurie Sapp

The pricing for parking at the theme parks can vary depending on the season, but a typical parking pass for the day at all four theme parks is:

  • $30 per day for standard parking (cars and motorcycles)
  • $45 to $55 per day for preferred parking (cars and motorcycles)
  • $35 per day for oversized vehicle parking (shuttles, limos, camper trailers, RVs, buses, or tractor-trailers)

All parking fees include applicable sales tax. Note that once you buy your parking pass, it’s good all day. That means if you park at Magic Kingdom in the morning, you can use that pass for EPCOT in the afternoon.

Do Disney World Tickets Come With Free Parking?

Unfortunately, having a Disney World ticket does not come with free parking. However, registered guests at the Disney World Resort hotels will be able to enjoy free standard theme park parking (or you can upgrade to preferred parking for $20 a day). Additionally, Passholders receive free standard parking as part of their pass.

Walt Disney World Hotel Parking

Disney World made a major change to hotel parking with stays starting in January 2023 — it’s now complimentary! Overnight guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels will not need to pay for parking. Additionally, self-parking is complimentary for day guests who are dining at Disney World hotels. Valet service parking is available at Disney Deluxe hotels and Disney’s Coronado Springs, costing $33 per night.

A Walt Disney World vacation is definitely expensive, but there are plenty of ways to save on your tickets and the overall cost of your vacation. You can check out all the current discounts and deals here .

“Since the arrival of the MICHELIN Guide to Florida in 2022, there has been significant growth in the state’s local culinary scene, proving Florida is a leading gastronomic destination for travelers near and far,” said Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of the MICHELIN Guides. “In addition to the nine new restaurants awarded one MICHELIN Star, we are thrilled to announce Green Star restaurants in the selection for the first time, showcasing these restaurants’ commitment to a more sustainable gastronomy.”

New to the list are two Tampa restaurants, Ebbe and Kosen, along with three Miami eateries, EntreNos, Ogawa, and Shingo. In Orlando, Camille, Natsu, Papa Llama, and Victoria and Albert’s were also awarded starts. The last one has a special designation: It’s at Disney World.

Housed at the Grand Floridian Resort, Victoria and Albert’s is known for its difficult to secure reservations for an opulent, Victorian-era inspired meal. The pre-fixe meal is $295 per guest, with optional wine pairings starting at $155 per person and zero-proof pairings starting at $115. To round out the elegant experience, a formal dress code is encouraged for all diners, who must be 10 years of age or older.

“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized by Michelin for the innovative dining experience our team brings to life here at Victoria & Albert’s,” Chef de Cuisine Matthew Sowers said in a statement. “Everybody on our team earned this Star, from our stewards to our culinarians to our pastry chefs, and we hope to inspire future generations of culinary professionals to follow their dreams.”

Michelin was impressed by Chef Sowers’ “contemporary verve” that draws on influences spanning from Asia to the Nordic region. Dishes like delicate tarts set with New Zealand langoustine, nouveau sandwiches made with venison carpaccio and red cabbage, and bold sauces like cherry-cola bordelaise all impressed the anonymous inspectors. Other details like water lists, an ornate coffee and tea service, and a serious wine program further made an impression and earned the Disney World restaurant its first Michelin star.

This is far from the first notable accolade for the theme park restaurant since its opening in 1988. Victoria & Albert’s has maintained a AAA Five Diamond Award since 2000, Forbes Travel Guide Five Star since 2018, and earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence.

Disneyland performers file petition to form labor union

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Performers who help bring Disney’s beloved characters to life at its Southern California theme parks filed a petition Wednesday to form a labor union.

The workers include parade performers, character actors and support staff at Disneyland and an adjacent theme park, Disney California Adventure. More than two-thirds of roughly 1,700 eligible workers signed the petition to seek an election through the National Labor Relations Board, the workers said, noting that a vote will likely be held in May or June,

At a news conference in Anaheim, which is home to the two theme parks and the Downtown Disney shopping and entertainment district, workers said they also asked The Walt Disney Co. to recognize the union they are calling “Magic United.”

Several workers said they love helping create a magical experience for Disneyland visitors. But they said they grew concerned when they were asked to resume hugging patrons after returning to work during the coronavirus pandemic and they face certain challenges, including injuries from costumes, erratic scheduling and a lack of clear communication from management.

Mai Vo, a 37-year-old performer who has worked for Disney for two decades, said she wore black contact lenses as part of a costume and that they stained her eyes gray. She also was paid less for that job than someone who played a similar role but who was in a union, she said.

“I love my job, but I know that we all deserve better,” Vo said. “I am confident that by standing together, we will be strong and be able to advocate for positive change.”

Most of the more than 35,000 workers at the Disneyland Resort, which includes the theme parks, already have unions. Parade and character workers announced their plans to unionize in February under Actors’ Equity Association, which represents theatrical performers at Disney’s Florida theme parks.

In a statement Wednesday, Disney officials said: “We support our cast members’ right to a confidential vote that recognizes their individual choices.”

Union membership has been on a decades-long decline in the United States, but organizations have seen growing public support in recent years amid high-profile contract negotiations involving Hollywood studios and Las Vegas hotels. The NLRB, which protects workers’ right to organize, reported more than 2,500 filings for union representation during the 2023 fiscal year, which was the highest number in eight years.

Disney has a major presence in Anaheim. Disneyland, the company’s oldest park, was the world’s second-most visited theme park in 2022, hosting 16.8 million people, according to a report by the Themed Entertainment Association and AECOM.

In California, Disney’s cleaning crews, food service workers, pyrotechnic specialists and security staff are already unionized. The company has faced allegations in recent years of not paying workers a livable wage for Southern California, despite raking in profits. Wage issues have even wound up in the courts.

Parade performers and character actors earn a base pay of $24.15 an hour, with premiums for different roles that can vary widely, workers said. Until January, the base pay was $20 an hour.

The effort to organize character and parade performers in California comes more than 40 years after those who play Mickey, Goofy and Donald Duck in Florida were organized by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, a union traditionally known to represent transportation workers. At that time, the Florida performers complained about filthy costumes and abuse from guests, including children who would kick the shins of Disney villains such as Captain Hook.

Kate Shindle, president of Actors’ Equity, said she was confident the California workers would win the election through the NLRB, the federal agency that protects workers’ rights to organize.

“They just want to be paid fairly, to have a more humane scheduling system, to know that they are safe on the job, to have clear and respectful communication at work.” she told reporters while flanked by more than a dozen Disney workers wearing blue T-shirts with union slogans.

Shantall Segura, a 29-year-old character performer, was among them. She said she worries she might fall in slippery shoes after it rains, or soak her feet while walking through puddles on uneven ground.

Parade performer Courtney Griffith, 26, said her coworkers are frequently injured by ornate or heavy costumes and developed a rash after donning one particular costume but were told to keep wearing it. She said the costume was finally shelved after a manager tried it on and developed a rash, too.

“I would like to work here as long as possible. This is my dream job,” Griffith said. “We’re all experiencing similar issues and our management is not being given the resources by the company to help us.”

These Florida water parks rank among best in the U.S. in new list. Here's where to go

tour miami disney world

Just in time for summer, which unofficially starts in Florida as soon as the shorts come out, two Florida water parks were listed in the top 5 in the U.S. in a new study by retailer SwimOutlet .

And one was in the bottom five.

SwimOutlet looked at customer ratings, rides, amenities and facilities, ticket prices, number of food and drink places, bathrooms, Google search interest and additional activities of 20 of the most popular water parks in the country and Florida was, unsurprisingly, well-represented.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon was No. 2 with Aquatica Orlando coming in at No. 4.

The top-performing water park, by a wide margin, was the Ohio-based Cedar Point Shores , with a score of 9.2 out of a possible 10, 80% higher than the average score across the top five parks. Why?

Well, the fact that the 18-acre Cedar Point Shores has 68 separate rides is probably a big part of it (the other parks averaged 19 rides each). Ticket prices start at $49.99, compared to Typhoon Lagoon's $70.

Here's how the Florida water parks did.

Voting is now open: Vote for your favorite outdoor water park for the 10Best Readers' Choice 2024. Voting ends April 22

No. 2: Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

Disney World has two water parks , Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon . Typhoon Lagoon is where you go if you want excitement.

Typhoon Lagoon , which is carefully designed to look like a tropical paradise after an epic storm, has often been named among the top water parks and was the most popular water park in the world in 2022 according to the Themed Entertainment Association . It has the largest surfable wave pool in North America, waterfalls and slides, the 5-story Humunga Kowabunga drop down Mount Mayday, rafting (rollercoaster-style and lazy-river style), and plenty of ways to stay wet for all ages and adventure levels.

From May 25 to Aug. 31 you can take advantage of the H2O Glow After Hours offer, a three-hour nighttime event on select nights with a dance party and lower wait times for rides. Tickets run from $70 to $85, depending on the ticketholder's age and the date chosen.

Named the No. 1 water park in the country in USA TODAY's 2023 10Best Readers Choice Awards , SeaWorld's Aquatica Orlando stands out by integrating sea life into its rides. Which Florida water park ranked the lowest?

Universal's Volcano Bay was 17th on the list, but that's out of the top 20 water parks SwimOutlet looked at so it's still pretty good. Readers picked it as the 10th best water park in the nation in 2022 in USA TODAY's 10Best Readers Choice Awards .

Volcano Bay features, you guessed it, a 200-foot volcano with exciting raft and body slides, a terrifying body plunge, an aqua coaster, multiple tubing opportunities and a relaxing winding river at the end of it all.

UPDATE: Florida Theme Park “Intimidates” Employees as Government-Mandated Closure Approaches

in Theme Parks

The most controversial theme park in Florida has been accused of intimidating its employees and trying to evade government inspections – just days before the date of its eviction notice.

The Sunshine State is packed with theme parks, many of which could be arguably defined as controversial. There’s Walt Disney World Resort, with its ongoing legal spat with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis , and SeaWorld and its years-long battle with activists in the wake of the damning documentary Blackfish (2010). Neither resort, however, is quite on the same level right now as Miami Seaquarium.

Over the past few years, multiple investigations from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have sparked backlash for the marine theme park. Some of the most horrifying details have included a dolphin found with a nail in its throat , a sea lion denied surgery for so long that he was living in constant pain and refusing food, and dolphins being fed rotten fish . So many details stacked up over multiple inspections that the USDA even moved to confiscate some of the park’s animals, with Miami Seaquarium ultimately euthanizing one of the animals in question , Bud the sea lion, before this was possible.

Miami Seaquarium has leased the land on which it resides from Miami-Dade County since 1955, and one of the terms of its lease requires taking appropriate care of its animal residents. The county served the park – which is owned by The Dolphin Company – with an eviction notice in March, with Mayor Daniella Levine Cava declaring that it had a “long and troubling history of violations” and setting a deadline of April 21 to vacate the premises.

Despite this date being just days away, Miami Seaquarium continues to operate and fight its eviction notice. Last week, it provided the county with ‘proof’ that it was improving its animal care facilities. Now, however, more troubling details have emerged about the park’s operations that won’t exactly tip the scales in its favor.

NBC6 obtained a USDA inspector’s report from January alleging that the South Florida park’s management was engaging in employee intimidation and attempting to interfere with government inspections.

The report claims that inspectors arrived at the Miami Seaquarium on January 9 between 9 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. However, their mandated physical walkthrough of the park didn’t begin for another four and a half hours.

“The facility manager then said they needed to consult with their lawyers as to the inspectors’ nature of inspection and asked for copies of identification,” the report reads. “In the meantime, inspectors asked to review [the] requested paperwork, but the facility further delayed, indicating that their legal team would have to review them first. USDA had to insist to get immediate access to the records. The physical walkthrough of the facility began 4.5 hours after the inspectors’ arrival.”

Inspectors went on to claim that on the second day of the park’s inspection, Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) officials were told that The Dolphin Company required employees to record government inspections. Employees apparently also admitted that they had been told they could not be alone with the inspectors without permission – seemingly in an attempt to mitigate any negative information they may share about the park’s operations .

“Staff members confided in inspectors that what they stated on camera was not the whole truth as they were not comfortable to be forthcoming with all the relevant details,” the report says. “The facility CEO stated that if the employees wanted to speak to USDA alone, the employee would have to come to management and inform them beforehand.”

The report later went on to criticize the Florida theme park for its decorum regarding inspections. “Delaying the inspection process and eliciting fear and intimidation towards facility employees interferes with APHIS officials’ abilities to assess a facility’s compliance with the Animal Welfare Act,” it says.

This isn’t the first time Miami Seaquarium has attempted to avoid criticism. It previously also took legal action against an activist who shared videos of the park’s conditions – namely the tanks containing its marine mammals – on social media.

Earlier this week, Miami-Dade County also emphasized that Miami Seaquarium is $87,916.66 behind on its rent – a fact the county has previously stressed on multiple occasions.

Of all Miami Seaquarium’s controversies, it’s perhaps best known for its last remaining orca resident: Lolita (AKA Tokitae). At the time of her death in August 2023, she was the second-oldest killer whale in captivity (after Corky II in SeaWorld San Diego). Tokitae died just months after Miami Seaquarium announced plans to relocate her to a sea pen what was infamously nicknamed “the whale bowl,” the small tank in which she spent 43 years alone after Miami Seaquarium’s other orca, Hugo, died from self-inflicted brain damage  in 1980.

Plans to free her were met with mixed responses, with some of her former trainers claiming she would be better off. more high-tech facilities, such as those at nearby SeaWorld Orlando, located just hours away from Miami Seaquarium, due to her age, frail health, and the amount of time she spent living in captivity.

When NBC6 contacted the Florida theme park for comment, they received only a brief response: “Thank you for your inquiry. In the next couple of days, we will inform the press of our progress. All our animals are well taken care of by our amazing staff.” Inside the Magic did not hear back from a request for comment by the time of publication.
