Anaheim, California, is one of the most intriguing places to visit on the West Coast.

Southern California in general is a hotspot for all things artistic and cultural evolution.

Anaheim is one of those cities that you can get lost on a voyage through its modern prowess, or simply be engulfed by the epic amount of history the city has as well.

Today is as good as any day to venture out into the sunshine and find out what to do with all the options you have at your disposal.

With Disneyland right in Anaheim’s backyard and the West Coast’s largest convention center ever, the Anaheim attractions are exciting and fun for both travelers and locals alike.

Not only is sightseeing a must when in Anaheim, but the immaculate array of food produced within the different shops and buildings is absolutely phenomenal.

Of course, the Mexican cuisines lay the foundation of great eats for the city, but there are plenty of long-standing establishments that will rock your taste buds as well.

Supporting the local and family-owned shops and restaurants should always be a priority on every traveler’s list.

So we recommend taking a well-rounded approach to exploring the city and enjoying the vast elements that make up the beautiful Anaheim.

Everyone’s favorite California adventure begins with Disneyland .

Created by the world-famous Walt Disney, Disneyland has, and always will be, a great place for families to capture special moments in time.

It’s not just the cartoon characters and amusement rides that make these Anaheim attractions so fascinating.

In fact, one of the best things about Disneyland is how they invite all age groups by successfully blending nostalgia with modernity, and then exceeding the expectations with a memorable experience.

Enjoying the sunshine with cotton candy and stuffed Goofy is definitely one of those things that never gets old.

So if you are new to Anaheim or just visiting the city, it’s almost by default you have to go and have fun at Disneyland, which isn’t that bad of a proposition!

But don’t be fooled.

There are so many places to go and things to do in Anaheim besides Disneyland, that you could venture around the city and leave the magic at Disneyland for another time.

Well, when in Anaheim, you can have a first-class experience as a pilot in your own cockpit!

The Flightdeck Flight Simulation Center helps you learn to fly without ever leaving the Earth.

With the next phase of virtual reality knocking at our door, you can expect that throughout the next few years, the Flight Deck Simulator will only continue to progress.

Granted, while it may be the only time you will ever be able to “fly a jet”, any opportunity to take control of an F-16 should never be passed up.

The instructors tend to be retired airline pilots or within a range of technical fields, but the overall concept is predicated on allowing your imagination to run wild.

From runway to runway, if you are looking for things to do in Anaheim, you should definitely make this one of your points of interest.

3. Anaheim Packing House

With Instagram-worthy food options and a large selection of food booths and vendors, the Anaheim Packing House is one of the best places to visit in California and exactly where you should go for an assortment of restaurants and shops.

Established in 1919, it has been one of SoCal’s tourist attractions since its inception and was finally listed in the “National Register of Historic Places” in 2015.

Outside of the history, you can get lost for a couple of hours within all of the delicious smells and specialties being made around the building.

If you are looking for where to go solely by the sound of your stomach, then the Anaheim Packing House is the best option for you.

The entire Packing District is separated into multiple sections, with each having its own personality.

The Anaheim Packing House is near the Farmers’ Park, and directly across the street from Make Building.

If you are driving to the Packing District, there is plenty of parking on almost every street corner, but the best one will be right behind the Packing House.

Once you’ve had your fill and are ready to continue on, the Packing District is just a few minutes from Disneyland if that was next on your list of things to do.

4. Adventure City

Adventure City : The Little Theme Park that’s Big on Family Fun!

When you are marking down your top 10 places to visit in Anaheim, be sure to put Adventure City on that list.

With thrills and chills inside the park, you can get lost in time for a few hours every time you visit.

Being a moderately sized theme park, you won’t find the flips-and-dips that are featured at mega parks.

But there is an intimate factor in the overall design and flow from ride to ride.

One of the certified tourist attractions when looking for what to do or where to go when in Anaheim, but once you take a lift on the “Balloon Race” or watch your little ones smile as they ride the “Giggle Wheel”, you’ll soon remember the importance of quality over quantity.

If you find yourself visiting Adventure Park on a hot day, be sure to stop by the “Uptown Cool Down” at some point and let the clouds of foggy mist give you the refreshing sensation you will definitely need.

“Acrobatic gymnastics and circus classes” is more than just a tongue twister.

Starting his circus business at the age of eleven, SwingIt Trapeze Owner Nick Selvy was riding 6-foot unicycles and juggling fire before graduating the 8th grade.

He would later go on to study deeper into theater and the arts, while also teaching snowboarding and capoeira in his spare time.

The point is, if you want to witness the fruits of a pure theatrical genius that involves high flying stunts, passing by the SwingIt Trapeze facilities is a must.

As a spectator, you can watch pros and amateurs alike as they soar and flip in the air in an attempt to perfect their routines.

6. Angel Stadium of Anaheim

One of the last dual-purpose sports stadiums in the US, The Angel Stadium of Anaheim aka “The Big A”, was erected in Anaheim, California, in 1966.

Having one of the best pitchers in MLB history, stopping by to check out a game while you’re in town may be quite exciting.

Most days you will be hit with a cool California breeze, but even on the hottest days, the open-dome stadium is no stranger to sunshine and infinite circulation.

And for the true baseball fans, most of the walls are dressed in giant murals of legendary Angels players, alongside some of the modern stars of today.

Within Disneyland is a stage performance worth mentioning.

The robotic rendition of the 16th President, Mr. Abraham Lincoln, has a story to tell to everyone within earshot.

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is another place for you to bring your family and enjoy the learning experience from a Disney perspective.

The Audio-Animatronic President is introduced by cartoonish trumpets and “America the Beautiful”, with shots of the original pilgrimage and European journey to the States.

Ultimately, the stage show transitions to Abraham Lincoln telling a story that no one has ever heard, and references history going all the way back 1809.

Even if you don’t have children present, the story Abraham Lincoln tells is of high value and intellectually sound enough to resonate with an older crowd as well.

Regardless of how you feel about the colonization of the States, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is an informative look into one of the Nation’s greatest individuals.

Since 2015, Pour Vida Tortillas and Taps has been a family-owned and operated restaurant in downtown Anaheim.

They have everything from delicious traditional items and Mexican fusions to an amazing selection of coffee, cocktails, and fresh pastries.

For $25, you can enjoy bottomless mimosas at the bar or get your vegetarian on with a number of burritos or bowls.

And if that isn’t enough, we recommend giving their signature Churro Pancakes a try too.

And yes, California is known for exclusively traditional Mexican cuisine.

This is most definitely one of the best restaurants in the city.

9. Anaheim Convention Center

With a total of 1.8 million square feet and deemed as the largest convention center on the West Coast, the Anaheim Convention Center hosts a number of fun and exclusive activities.

It is one of the places to go to if you are an entrepreneur, socialite, or just a regular old foodie.

You can use the courtyard space at the Anaheim Convention Center for events that will suit your needs.

Boasting a 28,000 square feet arena, and adding on the 200,000 square feet expansion of Anaheim Convention Center North, the entire facility is one of the unique things about the city.

There is also a 10,000 square feet open terrace that will give you the perfect vantage point to experience Disneyland fireworks at night.

This mega convention center can be quite overwhelming, especially for those who are not used to a metropolitan atmosphere in general.

10. Bruery Terreux

For all the beer connoisseurs out there, this place is renowned as the Anaheim king of beers and is a personal favorite of the locals.

The entire inside of the Bruery Terreux is filled with huge oak barrels that are fully exposed in the main showroom, while bright balls of light hang from above the corridors.

Since getting its start in 2008, owner Patrick Rue has been experimenting with every element of beer possible.

While the brewery is filled with traditional styles and flavors of beer, their newest concepts are inspired by food, cocktails, and a variety of flavor profiles to keep the selection evolving.

If you are looking to have a little fun this weekend or simply looking for stuff to do, the Bruery Terreux will have a little something for everyone.

11. Yorba Regional Park

Have you ever caught a Bass or a Trout?

No, not a Mike Trout, a real one!

Yorba Regional Park should be one of your points of interest if you are into sitting out in the California sun with a tackle box and a rod.

As with most National or Regional parks, there is an abundance of picnic tables and paved roads for you to access and connect with nature.

When the typical “city” things to do in Anaheim become a constant loop, Yorba Regional Park will help you to relax and break free of the hustle and bustle.

While there are many places to go to get some fresh air, there is no other place that has four lakes connecting into streams, as Yorba does.

Any day is a beautiful day for you to venture out to Yorba Regional Park, as they have so many places to see when the sun is out.

What to do or what to see is totally up to you, but make sure to bring a blanket and pack a lunch!

Since 1965, Mamma Cozza’s has been filling the bellies of large families and banquet-style events.

With a plethora of TVs and a bar stocked with the essential tonics, you might as well drop everything you’re doing and go have some fun tonight!

If that’s not feasible, then at least make a reservation for this weekend and experience a great atmosphere and classic Italian dishes.

The only day of the week you can not enjoy Mamma Cozza’s is on Monday, as they are completely closed for both in-house and take-out dining.

But if you are looking for the best Chicken Parmigiana or Pastrami Sandwich this side of California, then stop in for some quick grub, and be sure to thank us later.

13. Honda Center

Honda Center aka The Pond has hosted an array of elite events throughout the years.

Aside from the TLC and Mariah Carey performances in the early 2000s, the Honda Center has a modern marble aesthetic that has deemed it one of the “Nicest Arenas in NHL”, having held matches for both the Redwings Finals and the Stanley Cup championship games.

You can catch a number of these types of events throughout the year if you plan accordingly.

While most of the activities are for adults only, it might be nice to bring some friends to a concert or have a few beers at one of the hockey games.

The simple fact that this arena transforms from a hockey rink to a UFC octagon in a matter of hours is truly remarkable.

No matter what sports, music, or overall entertainment you gravitate towards, Honda center will almost certainly have something for you and your family to get dressed up for.

When you are visiting a city with as much diversity as Anaheim, you are bound to run into a ton of multifaceted locations.

If the Anaheim Packing House was an outside establishment, it would most likely be the Anaheim GardenWalk .

Hosting some of the best forms of artistic entertainment, the Anaheim GardenWalk positions itself as a premium destination for fun, creativity, and exceptional dining.

One of the best things to do in Anaheim is experience this lovely piece of vibrancy that hangs out all day in the California sun.

Amongst some of its resident establishments is the House of Blues Anaheim which features a proportioned schedule of classic and contemporary musicians, GO VR Gaming which is technically foreshadowing the direction of our technological futures, and Bowlmor Lanes which offers a versatile environment that is great for adults and kids.

With 460,000 square feet, the Anaheim GardenWalk offers a grand presentation and is a spectacular addition to your travels.

15. The Rinks

Sending four skaters to the Olympics this year, The Rinks has been a monumental part of bringing ice to Anaheim.

The Rinks is a high-quality ice rink that is used by professionals and amateurs alike.

With skating being opened to the public, you are encouraged to stop by for a freestyle session or group classes.

The Rinks also doubles as a good place to catch a few recreational games throughout the hockey season, but that also means to be mindful of The Rinks official schedule if you are looking forward to a leisurely session instead of being a spectator.

16. M&M Donuts

Don’t be surprised if later on tonight you see a line packed full of people in front of M&M Donuts .

They are best known for their hot and tasty Blueberry Donuts, which are apparently the best $1 donut in California (and maybe around the country).

There have been instances where it takes 30+ minutes to get a box of donuts, so if you are interested in trying them, be as strategic as possible regarding your time of arrival.

It is best to go early in the morning rather than the evening, but even if you get caught in a queue, it is most definitely worth the wait.

17. Club 33

Located in New Orleans Square in Disneyland, Club 33 is both an architectural masterpiece and an amazing dining experience.

There are two separate dining rooms for you to explore within the main quarters, as well as multiple connecting areas within the building.

There is a magnificent display of timeless antiques and galleries of original canvas art pressed up against the walls as well.

Of course, scattered around Club 33 are sketches from Walt Disney artists, and original prop pieces like the Oak Telephone Booth that was used in the movie “The Happiest Millionaire”.

If you venture over to the “Trophy Room”, you will find a more casual atmosphere with Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise vibes.

Spoiler alert, don’t be surprised when the chandeliers start talking to you!

Club 33 truly shows both the quirky and comical side of Walt Disney’s character, but juxtaposes it with the more poetic and luxurious aspects of his lineage.

Club 33 is essentially where the adults get to experience Disneyland from a more mature lens, and having a cocktail in a kids fairytale land is a little more satisfying than you may think. [drink responsibly]

18. White House Restaurant

Now, if we are talking about a comfortable seat in the lap of luxury, then the White House Restaurant has literally everything we need.

In 1909, the White House Restaurant was established in a plush mansion in Anaheim and has been serving the community with elite-quality dishes ever since.

This Italian Steakhouse has everything from Tuna Tartare to Osso Buco Milanese available on its menu and is a perfect place to celebrate your next anniversary or personal growth milestone.

To go along with the exquisite delicacies is a low-lit outdoor seating area with amazing landscaping and biophilic decor.

As with any restaurant that holds an immaculate standard, please be sure to book your tables in advance and dress your best for the occasion.

The atmosphere, service, and menu of the White House Restaurant, is terrifically paired with one another, and the list of wine is the perfect crescendo to a marvelously curated establishment.

19. Seascape

Now this one is strictly for the kiddies, and one of the easiest things to do in Anaheim!

Seascape is a facility meant to tire out your children so you can peacefully explore the rest of Anaheim.

Reminiscent of a larger Check-E-Cheese, Seascape has a lot of play areas for your little ones to enjoy.

There are ball pits and pizza pies for everyone, and the only downside is that you may be too big to have fun as well!

But watching the children in your group jump around the bouncy house or slide down the huge tunnels over and over again is worth every second.

Before you venture over to Seascape, however, don’t forget to wear socks, as they are required to enter the play areas, and please have everyone who is participating dressed in pants.

The last thing you want to do is get friction burn on your way down the rubber slide.

20. Oak Canyon Nature Center

The 58-acre piece of land is home to a trinity of canyons and four miles of hiking trails for your wandering feet.

The Oak Canyon Nature Center received its name from the combination of its canyon views and oak woodland that inhabit the area.

California is known for its forestry and Anaheim is an example of the natural greatness the State possesses.

The trails and surrounding paths are great for a beginning trekker and can be a great way to catch a breeze within the cradling arms of sun and trees.

The Oak Canyon Nature Center also sports a couple of golf courses, picnic shelter and field accommodations, and youth centers for fun indoor and outdoor activities.

21. Bowers Museum

So no, not like Bowser from the Mario Bros series.

This Bowser Museum was established in 1936 and is a historical California paradise for art and culture, and definitely has plenty of things to see.

Featuring displays from some of the world’s first civilizations, the Bowser Museum is one of the tourist attractions you have to visit.

There are numerous timeless relics that paint a picture of California and its first inhabitants, but also does a great job of including exhibits from cultures abroad as well.

The artifacts and ancestry that lived 5,000 years ago in China, or the “Sacred Realms” of Ancient India, can be seen within the walls of the Bowser Museum on any given day.

There are plenty of things to see at each exhibit that will pique your interest and leave you a little smarter than when you arrived, especially if learning about ancient history is a part of your passion.

Some of their greatest exhibits at the Bowser Museum have been the “Art of the Samurai: Selections from the Tokyo National Museum”, the “Hidden Treasures of Ethiopia”, and “Gods and Gifts: Treasures from the Vatican Ethnographic Museum”.

So stop by today and find some gems about the deep history of multi-continental civilizations, and how they laid the foundation for a number of concepts that we still use today.

22. Discovery Cube

Science has been a part of our lives for centuries and has only evolved since its first formulas were calculated.

The Discovery Cube begins the journey for new science to be explored by providing fun interactive activities for kids and students.

The Discovery Cube is a building block for introducing science to adolescent minds.

So if you are traveling with little ones, you can definitely put this on your “Things to do in Anaheim” list, as it’s one of the perfect places to visit with kids.

Their website states that they use “STEM proficiency, early childhood education, healthy living, and environmental stewardship”, as the means to which they teach children science.

The activities they have planned are both fun and informative, so check them out the next time you and your family are visiting Anaheim.

23. Medieval Times

If you have never been to a Medieval Times show, you are truly missing out on a very unique dining performance.

Modeled after a Bronze Age battle arena, Medieval Times allows you to be a part of the jousting and fierce competitions by pinning you to a specific color of mercenary.

Only one fighter can be the winner at the end, and we hope you come out victorious!

The tournament-style experience is coupled with goblets and rustic cutlery to enhance the entire show, but for a number of decades, Medieval Times has been renowned as a fun and lighthearted time for you, your friends, and your family.

While Medieval Times is not specific to California, at least you won’t be freezing on your way back to the parking lot.

24. Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center

The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) is a godsend for models, photographers, and creative types.

Primarily, it is the transit center for Anaheim that gets you from place to place both within Anaheim and to parts of the Californian coast.

But with the beautifully crafted architecture, polychromatic LED lighting, and immaculate views gives the ARTIC a top 10 stamp for Instagrammers and Tik-Tokers visiting Anaheim.

California, in general, is amazing in its ability to blend art and purpose when it comes to the design and quality of its buildings and structures.

But when you enter into the ARTIC, you will be amazed at the sheer size and disposition it carries both at night and early in the morning.

While there isn’t much in terms of actual entertainment, it is definitely one of the free things to do if you’re looking for Anaheim attractions.

25. Ralph. B Clark Regional Park

There are many things to see in this historic part of Orange County .

What first opened up as Los Coyotes Regional park in 1981, the Ralph B. Clark Regional Park was renamed in 1987 after retiring Orange County Supervisor Ralph B. Clark.

It is one of the most beautiful places for you to visit when in Anaheim and is yet another option for free things to do.

The park is equipped with an amphitheater, nature trails, a playground for kids, baseball fields, a fishing area, horseshoe pits, and a bunch of other fun outdoor activities to partake in.

There is also the Interpretive Center, which is technically a museum that showcases Ice Age Fossils and Local Geology.

There are plenty of Ice Age mammals for you to gaze at and learn more about the deepest roots of California.

In fact, there is a 9 million-year-old whale skeleton that was excavated from a construction site.

The trail stretches to about 1.2 miles and is a breezy pathway through the park.

27. Camelot GolfLand

Camelot Golfland

One of the fun things to do in Anaheim is to visit the long-standing establishment known as Camelot Golfland .

You and your group will love the mini-golf courses (which are quite challenging), as well as the Camelot Castle that provides an arcade experience afterward.

Camelot Golfland will have you playing laser tag and racing go-karts before dinner, and when dinner time arrives, the comforting selection of sandwiches, nachos, and pretzels will tie your adventure together with a nice bow.

A pro tip would be to visit Camelot Golfland on one of the hotter days of the week, as they also have an attraction called “Bumper Boats”, that allows you the opportunity to drive an inflated “go-karts” around the property’s river track!

28. Disney California Adventure Park

The sister park to the original Disneyland was established in 2001 and given the name the Disney California Adventure Park .

There are thousands of locals that visit the park on a weekly basis, so it is best if you plan accordingly if you’re interested in visiting.

The busy season is connected to summer vacations and other holiday-type dates throughout the year.

So it is best if you travel to the California Adventure park earlier in the year.

Some of the attractions are the world’s first flying theater, a superhero training simulation taught by Spiderman himself, and tons of video game/interactive consoles for you to toy around with.

And per the usual, there are plenty of rollercoaster rides throughout the park, if your visit to the actual Disneyland Park wasn’t enough!

As for dining, finding food should be easy but when all else fails, head over to Blue Bayou and feast on a few cajun menu items or the Galaxy’s Edge restaurant, which is Star Wars-themed and full of delicious wraps.

29. Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center

Another one of the coolest things to do in Anaheim in regards to admiring antiquity is found inside the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center .

Muzeo’s galleries have had a worldwide arrangement of cultural items dating back to Ancient Egypt.

The gallery’s curators do a great job picking historical pieces that are sure to excite any visitor of the museum.

If you are interested in things like the “National Geographic 50 Greatest Photos” or “Ghost stories and Fairy Tales: A Ceremony of Make Believe”, then Muzeo may be the perfect fit for you.

Outside of the geographical and mythological aesthetics, Muzeo invites you to celebrate Anaheim’s past by featuring a number of hometown relics within the halls of the museum.

Huntington Beach, HB, California’s “Surf City USA”… No matter what they call it these days, make sure you go and pay a visit.

Huntington Beach is a palm tree-filled piece of sunshine that combines beautiful natural scenery with a lively city vibe.

With over ten miles of sandy beach and approximately eight million annual visitors, Huntington Beach is both a top 10 location for fun and activities and one of the free things to do when you visit the great city of Anaheim.

The beach is a perfect place for couples to do some sightseeing or simply have a picnic under the California sun.

HB is also home to the International Surfing Museum and the Surfing Hall of Fame.

So for all you extreme sports fans and participants, Huntington Beach is definitely one of the things to do when in Anaheim, especially if you are living or staying near the beach anyway.

31. The Outlets at Orange

Located in the heart of Orange County, The Outlets at Orange is basically your quintessential shopping experience.

Located right off of I-5 on The City Drive, you will find over 120 premium stores ranging from Saks Fifth Avenue to the Tommy Hilfiger Company Store.

Being near to all the other tourist attractions, The Outlets at Orange are one of those California attractions that bring a ton of liveliness to the city.

While it may seem heretical to visit cliche locations like an outlet mall, sometimes it’s necessary if you are looking to kill time or simply trust certain establishments no matter where you are.

In addition to shopping, however, The Outlets at Orange has an open-air atmosphere, so wandering around and doing your best window shopper impersonation is always a viable choice as well!

32. Founders’ Park

Located on the western boundary of what is known as the “Anaheim Colony”, Founders’ Park is your go-to for a historical stroll through the centuries.

Built on the Founders’ Park acreage in 1857, the Mother Colony House is said to be one of Anaheim’s first homes, followed by the Woelke-Stoffel house built in 1894.

When you are walking through the massive grounds, you will notice the Moreton Bay fig tree and its enormous spatial occupancy.

Be sure to catch a few flicks and enjoy hiding under it from the sun, as it tends to be pretty open around the housing structures.

Similar to the Anaheim Packing House in Downtown Anaheim, Mother Colony, and Woelke-Stoffel houses were accepted into the “National Register of Historic Places” back in 2013.

So when you come to Founders’ Park, just remember the vast amount of history this land has seen, and cherish the fact that you can experience its greatness too.

33. Christ Cathedral

A California beauty and a mesmerizing display of architectural prowess.

Known as the “Crystal Cathedral”, the 32 acres that support the Christ Cathedral is an ideal place for Christians to come and rejoice in the Lord.

With total seating of 3,000 people, the inside of the church is massive.

Thousands of mirrored glass decorate the church walls, while a star-shaped layout focuses each attendee on the priest and sermon.

You can visit the Cathedral grounds between 10 am and 3 pm on the weekdays, 9 am to 4 pm on Saturdays, and Sundays are reserved for worshipping inside the church.

Complimentary tours are given throughout the day, and given the size of the property, it is recommended that you allot about an hour from beginning to end.

So if you are coming to the Christ Cathedral for a Sunday Service or just drawn in by its foundational prestige, there are a number of jaw-dropping components to this beautiful building that you can appreciate.

Anaheim briefs: mark your calendar for cinco de mayo fiesta.

The community is invited to La Palma Park on May 2 through May 5 for Fiesta United’s Anaheim Cinco De Mayo Fiesta.

There will be rides, games, food, music and more family fun for four days.

The fiesta is the nonprofit group’s oldest continual celebration held in Orange County. For more information, visit fiestaunited.org

Yoga and picnic at the Packing District

Don’t miss a Pranayama Picnic at the Anaheim Packing District on April 27.

The Packing District will be hosting Sun, Salutations & Sounds from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m, starting with outdoor yoga on the grassy green at Farmers Park. Kumi Yogini will lead the yoga and there will be frequency healing from DJ Crisanto and a sound bath from Kasie Swisher. The community picnic ends the event.

All about the kids

There will be a special celebration for Children’s Day, April 30, at Downtown Anaheim Community Center.

Have lots of fun celebrating the children of Anaheim from 5 to 7 p.m.; entry is free and there is no registration required. The Downtown Anaheim Community Center is at 250 E. Center Street.  FREE entry and no registration is required.

Resident features Anaheim in photos

Colony resident Kevin Nelson learned “street style” photography in Los Angeles – stuck in traffic, taking photos. Now he bringing his style to Anaheim in a book entitled “Anonymous Volume One” featuring portraits, architecture in the Colony neighborhood and more. He is involved in Anaheim with community projects such as the Anaheim Fall Festival.

There will be a launch party from 3 to 5 p.m. on April 28 at Windsor Brown’s, 211 W. Center Street Promenade.  Books and prints will be available and there will be the opportunity to win framed photo. For more information, find Kevin on Instagram at Kevin_Nelson_photo.

Check out gems and minerals

The Searcher  Gem  and  Mineral Society has its 62nd annual show planned for April 27 and 28.

The show featuring all kinds of gems, minerals and jewelry will be held at the Anaheim Brookhurst Community Center.

There are many activities and lots of fun and learning planned. Organizers said there will be door prizes, gemstones, minerals, silent auctions, exhibits, panning for gold and more.

Hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 27 and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 28. Visit searchersrocks.org for more information

Big community plans in May

Two big fun festivals are scheduled for the month of May.

St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church is presenting its annual Greek Festival and the Children’s Festival marks 32 years.

St. John church is at 405 Dale St., and festival hours are 3 to 10 p.m. May 17, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on May 18 and noon to 9 p.m. on May 19. For more information, visit stjohnanaheim.org.

On May 18, the city of Anaheim and the Muzeo are presenting the Anaheim Children’s Festival at Pearson Park.  Booths are still available. There will be art booths offering free activities and all-day entertainment on  stage.  For more information, visit anaheim.net.

Golf tourney to benefit St. Catherine’s

St. Catherine’s Academy is hosting its 33rd annual Golf Invitational on May 6.

All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Mother Pia Boys’ Scholarship, which provides scholarships for boys to attend the academy.

Friendly Hills Country Club is the location of the tournament.  Sponsorships are available too.  For more information and to join the tournament call 714- 772-1363 ext. 156.

Thrift shop opening

There is a new thrift store in town, “a store with a purpose” opened by the ministries of the Anaheim Zion Lutheran Church and Schools.

The Zion Thrift Store is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays at 1425 E. Lincoln Ave.  It’s having a grand opening from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on May 4 with Anaheim and church leaders, a blessing of the story and fun activities.

Proceeds from the thrift shop will support the church and its schools, and the donation of goods to local homeless and animal ministries.

Getting Around Guilt-Free

Free Rides Around the Neighborhood (FRAN) is Anaheim's new micro-transit service! Six-passenger, all-electric vehicles offer on-demand service in the Center City downtown corridor. Riders can choose to begin and end their trips at one of the predefined stops near popular downtown destinations.

Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) is a system of interchangeable public routes in-and-around the City of Anaheim and Orange County operated by all-electric busses.

Offering a variety of ride services in Los Angeles and Orange County, some of Karmel's  transportation vehicles are eco-friendly. 

Hotels Committed to Bettering the Planet

Clementine hotel & suites.

Sustainability practices at Clementine Hotel & Suites include replacing commercial equipment with energy-efficient appliances including LED lighting. To preserve water, they’ve implemented low-flow toilets and showerheads.

Desert Palms Hotel & Suites

The Desert Palms Hotel & Suites has adopted several sustainable practices like the use of slower flow showerheads, biodegradable cleaning products and plates and cutlery. Additionally, they give back 5% from each booking directly to the Autism Speaks Foundation and Susan G. Komen.

Kimpton’s green program includes recycling, water preservation, and a partnership with Clean the Water which recycles partially used soap, shampoo, and lotion.

Farm-to-Table

Poppy & seed, the ranch restaurant & saloon, downtown anaheim farmers market, anaheim & orange county farmers markets, poppy & seed.

Poppy & Seed is an upscale American restaurant set inside a modern greenhouse within the Anaheim Packing District. They source all their food supplies locally to support farmers and fishmongers from San Pedro to the Central Valley. The coffee they serve also comes from a female-owned roaster Sir Owlverick’s out of Anaheim, too.

THE RANCH Restaurant & Saloon

In addition to partnering with local farmers, fishermen, bakers and artisan cheesemakers, THE RANCH grows organic produce at their farm located in the foothills of the city of Orange and the Santa Ana Mountains.

The Downtown Anaheim Farmers Market offers a high variety of the freshest produce from local farmers, craft vendors, and live entertainment (weather permitting). Recurring weekly on Thursday.

Founded by Sir Bruno Serato, head chef and owner of the Anaheim White House , Caterina's Club  is a nonprofit that feeds hot meals to some 5,000 children each day and offers free food to families in need.

We Give Thanks

For 30 years, Frank Garcia, founder of We Give Thanks , has been helping those in need in the greater Orange County and Los Angeles areas. Garcia decided to serve a free Thanksgiving Day dinner to families in need in the parking lot of his family-owned restaurant, La Casa Garcia . Each year the number of people increased and soon surpassed 15,000.

IPW 2024 in Los Angeles is Just Around the Corner

Visit California, along with 43 industry partners and more than 100 California-based brands, is building out a 50,000-square-foot immersive brand experience called the California Plaza in the central area outside the Los Angeles Convention Center. This incredible space will engage IPW attendees on their way to and from the tradeshow, allowing people to maximize networking and engagement and showcase the California lifestyle. Everyone is encouraged to use the plaza to reenergize with food and drink and to network. The multi-day activation will deliver an over-the-top visual extravaganza that stops passersby in their tracks between branded destination engagement areas and a series of activations, food and beverages staged during peak traffic periods, 2-hour windows before and after daily trade show appointments. The Plaza will be open daily from 8 – 9:50 a.m. and 4:10 – 6 p.m. from Sunday May 5 through Tuesday May 7. A special thanks goes out to platinum partners Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, San Diego Tourism Authority, San Francisco, Visit Anaheim and Visit SLO CAL for their generous contributions and efforts to make the plaza a reality

On Saturday, May 4, all California delegates are invited to attend the California Caucus starting with lunch at 12:30 at Los Angeles Convention Center, Room #502 A&B, West Hall. After lunch, Visit California executives and in-market directors will provide information about the global marketing program and offer insights into how best to use available time on the trade show floor and at the California Plaza. An exclusive preview of the plaza will follow immediately after the caucus.

As with past IPWs, Visit California delegates will continue donning the traditional California team color palette of navy blue, neutrals and burnt orange. The visuals help present the California delegation as one unified team. New for this year, the Visit California team will wear all-white Vans sneakers ( women’s , men’s ) to introduce a playful, laid-back vibe to the ensemble. You're encouraged to join in — Vans are not required, any white lace-up shoe will do. Playful charms that attach to the laces will be passed out during the caucus.
