Finding RV Car Wash Near Me: Where Can I Get My RV Washed?

  • July 15, 2019 /
  • By R. Geraldi

Washing your RV can be easy. You just need to decide whether you want to do it yourself or let someone else handle the cleaning duty. As you get more experience with RVs you will find that getting them clean is very convenient even when you are not near large cities.

Where Can I Get My RV Washed? There are several good ways to find an RV wash service near you. You can use the national companies apps, the yellow pages or do an internet search. A little planning before you go can save you a lot of time and a few headaches. Not to mention furl costs.

If you need to wash your RV and am not sure where to go or if there is an RV wash service located near you, just continue to read our article. The answers to some of your washing questions are there waiting for you to see them.

Where Can I Wash an RV? (DIY)

One of the answers to this question is do it at your home if you have the room. All you have to do is hook up your garden hose, get some soapy water in a bucket and go to work. Just do not use dish washing or other harsh soaps when you do.

Another good spot to wash your RV yourself is to drive to the nearest truck stop . These businesses usually have large enough facilities to wash big rigs and they can handle your RV with ease.

Another location would be the car self wash service locations. That is if you have the height clearance to fit your RV inside the little bays. One tip to self washing. If you want to do it yourself, then at different times of the year, just use a damp cloth and wipe your RV down.

Keep rinsing the wash cloth as needed. This will save on the dirt you need to get off when you go and wash it later in the season.

Common RV Wash Locations (Car Wash for RV)

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

You may find that you get a lot of funny reactions from people when you pull up to a regular car wash with your RV. Also the employees may wave you off as they may not allow for RV washing at their car washes.

Thankfully, there are alternatives and there are such a thing as a car wash for RVs. These are run by a variety of different companies around the nation and they are equipped and prepared to help you get your RV washed.

To get you started on the right foot, just click here for a simple list of some of the RV washes around the country. The list covers most of the states and even lists one in Canada.

Other than that, you can use your local yellow pages or do an internet search to find one that is in your area. There is no sense causing yourself problems by trying to go to a car wash for cars when you can easily wash your RV designed for RVs.

Does Camping World Wash RVs

If Camping World offers RV wash services it must be done on a dealership by dealership basis. There is no mention of offering that service on their website. Their Good Sam club does not offer the service and their is no mention of it under their maintenance and repairs section.

Also, Camping World seems to be changing its purpose and focusing more on RV sales than any other service they provide. At least one dealership has stopped overnight RV parking unless the RV owner meets very strict requirements, including purchasing their RV at a Camping World outlet.

Camping world does offer a good RV wash product but it is a DIY product and not something they will do for you. Also, there is no mention of Camping World on the list of RV wash locations we gave you earlier.

How to Find an RV Car Wash Near Me?

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

There are two simple and fast ways to find an RV wash service near your location. The first is a bit old fashioned, you just turn to the yellow pages and let your fingers do the walking.

Businesses that advertise in the Yellow Pages are usually reputable and it is easy to check them out. The second easiest way to find an RV wash near you is to o to your computer and do an internet search.

Just type in the words RV wash services and give your city or zip code to find a local RV wash service near you. Also, you can search either place for the nearest Truck stop that offers washing services for the big rigs that enter their establishment.

Another way to find one near you is to ask your local gas station attendants. In the old days, gas stations knew where certain businesses were and they had maps to help you find your way. These may be few and far between these days.

If you are traveling to Alaska, here is one that is ready to handle all sorts of washing duties including your pet dog. A little searching before you leave home will save you a lot of time and fuel trying to hunt one down while you are on the road.

Some Final Comments

Keeping your RV nice and clean on the outside, helps extend the life of your recreational vehicle. Dirt and grime as well as smog and other pollutants can take their toll. Also, your vehicle will look great once it is all tidied up.

Whether you want to do it yourself or get someone to do it for you, you will find that there is an RV wash service near you. Some of these businesses are chain outlets and may provide better service than a local company. Or you may find the reverse to be true.

Where you get your RV cleaned is your choice. Just remember that the RV washes are easy to find and are as close to you as your yellow page book or computer.

Where Can I Wash RV

Where Can I Wash My RV Near Me?

Aaron Richardson

Use Google Maps or a directory like Yelp to find an RV wash near you. Simply enter “RV wash near me” in the search bar and see a list of nearby options. You can alternatively consider local RV parks or camping grounds, as they often have RV wash stations.

Locating where to get your RV washed can be challenging. This is because RV journeys often take us to unfamiliar places. In the first few weeks of my full-time RVing in Navarre, Florida, I struggled to decide where to get the vehicle washed. I eventually settled for the services of an RV detailer since they use the right products and the price wasn’t outrageous.

Your case may be different, but the good news is I have done enough research and created this article to walk you through the various ways to easily identify locations around you where you can wash your RV.

The Different RV Wash Options Around You

The Different RV Wash Options Around You

In the table below, I have illustrated the different easy-to-locate places around you to get your RV washed. This will help you make a decision faster in case you’re in a hurry:

Later in this article, you will also learn the price expectations to have in mind for washing RVs and the various options available to get such a service at a slashed price in different RV wash locations. So I encourage you to read to the end.

  • The Yelp database is the most valuable resource for finding RV wash services near you.
  • It has extensive user-generated reviews and ratings, along with pictures of these RV wash facilities taken by customers.
  • I have relied on the platform each time I travel inter-state to get insights into the quality and experiences of other customers about the best RV wash options in local areas.
  • However, if opening an account looks cumbersome, there are other options.

Let’s look at these various RV wash options in detail:

Truck Wash At Truck Shops

Truck Wash At Truck Shops

If you can locate a truck shop around you, finding a place to get your RV washed becomes easier. You can pull into these locations and align with other big rigs. I particularly like the RV wash option because it’s cheap and easy to find.

With online directories like DC Book Company, you can access a list of various truck wash stops in your location.

Meanwhile, prices vary by location but are usually charged by RV length.

Mobile RV Wash Companies

You can also find RV wash near you by contacting mobile RV wash companies. I recommend this option if your rig is stationary and moving it to truck stops is too much work. You must usually schedule to come wherever you’ve parked your RV. But their services aren’t the cheapest option, costing hundreds of dollars.

But the good side is that they often focus on cleaning the awnings, the plastic on your vent, air conditioning covers, your roof, and many other vehicle details.

Remember that most RV parks don’t allow cleaning of vehicles in the campground due to water usage and disposal. So, if you’re in a campground, get permission before using a mobile RV wash company.

Examples of reputable mobile RV wash companies include On The Spot, Greg Hoffman’s Mobile RV Wash, and Mr. H20, among many others, which you can find using the Yelp platform based on your current location.

RV Dealerships

RV Dealerships

If you’re looking for where to wash your RV near you, consider the closest RV dealership . If you don’t know any, you can ask local gas station attendants or fellow RV owners at the campsites.

Many RV dealerships operate wash facilities on-site because while selling RVs, they also want to ensure buyers leave the facility with clean rigs.

So, it’s possible to find an RV dealer near you offering a cleaning service. The best part of this option is that while you have access to get your rig washed, it also makes you closer to getting repairs and maintenance done if needed.

Google Search

A quick Google search is another way to find RV wash companies or facilities around you. However, it would be best if you input the right queries in the search engine to see the results you’re looking for

Log on to Google and type “RV wash near me.” The result will expose you to a long list of companies around your location currently offering such service, along with their opening times, cost, and customer reviews.

You can also leverage Google Maps to navigate your way to the location of these RV wash companies.

Yelp Database

image

Yelp is a company that publishes crowd-sourced reviews about businesses. People, especially tourists who just arrived in a new area, use the platform to locate places of interest like restaurants, bars, and hotels.

RV wash companies are one of the many businesses that Yelp can help you find based on your location. The best part is that it gives you access to other users’ reviews, ratings, pictures, and opinions about the company so that you know what you’re getting into.

To find an RV wash near you on Yelp, follow these steps:

  • Open the Yelp app or website.
  • Type “RV wash” or a related keyword in the search bar.
  • Add your location or enable location services to find options nearby.
  • Browse the search results, which include user ratings, reviews, and photos.
  • Filter and sort the results based on your preferences, such as distance or budget.
  • Click on a listing to view more details and contact information for the RV wash service you’re interested in.

How Much Does It Cost to Wash an RV?

The cost of washing your RV depends on the length and the type of services you want. Many auto detailing and RV wash facilities charge approximately $5 per foot.

However, the cost can go as high as $45 per foot when you want someone to rinse, wax, and do other interior detailing for your RV. Meanwhile, it also depends on your location.

While I was at Navarre, the RV detailer charged me $18 for a simple wash and wax. But sometimes, we land between $25 and $30 per foot on RVs. This price range can be different in other parts of the US.

For instance, some RV owners in Elkhart County, Indiana, testified spending around $300 to $450 for a wash and wax on a 44′ RV in campgrounds.

Where do you wash your RV?

You can wash your RV at specialized RV wash stations, truck stops, or even at home if you have the space and equipment. Many RV owners prefer using dedicated RV wash services so they don’t have to worry about proper cleaning and waste disposal.

Can you wash an RV in a car wash?

Yes, you can wash an RV in a car wash. Many car wash facilities offer large bays or specialized equipment for cleaning RVs and other oversized vehicles.

How do you dry an RV after washing it?

You can use a leaf blower on low settings to dry away water droplets from your RV after washing. Alternatively, you can use a soft, absorbent microfiber cloth or a squeegee to remove excess water. Pay attention to seams, corners, and windows as you dry the vehicle.

If you have enough space, the first suggestion is to do it at home . You’ll just need to connect your garden hose and mix it with some soap and water in a bucket . Remember to avoid using dishwashing soap or other harsh substances while doing this. Nearby truck stops are another good place to wash your RV . Places like these are often equipped with big enough facilities to wash larger rigs and can easily handle your RV.

> Get RV Wash KIT Here <

One more option is to go to a car self-washing station . However, you can consider this option only if your RV can fit within the small bays. One piece of advice for self-washing; if you choose to clean your RV by yourself, simply wipe down your RV with a damp cloth throughout the year. Continue to rinse the washcloth if it is required. By doing this you will reduce the amount of dirt on your RV and you will need less time to wash it afterward.

How To Find RV Wash Locations?

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

When you come to a standard car wash with your RV, you could get a lot of weird looks from other people. Employees may also turn you down if they don’t allow RVs in their car washes.

Luckily, there are other options, and there is even a car wash for RVs . Places like these are managed by a number of companies around the country and are ready and prepared to assist you in getting your RV washed . For starters, simply click here for a quick list of RV washes throughout the country. This list includes almost all of the states, as well as one in Canada.

You might also look in your local yellow pages or search for RV washing locations nearby on the internet . It’s pointless to cause yourself difficulties by attempting to wash your RV at a car wash that is built for regular cars when you could just go to a place that is made for washing RVs.

Does Camping World Wash RVs?

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

In case Camping World provides RV washes, it must be done only true a dealership basis . On their website, they don’t mention anything about providing such services. The service is not provided by their Good Sam club, and it is not mentioned anywhere in their repairs section.

In addition to that, Camping World appears to be shifting its focus to RV sales more than other services. Dealerships are starting to ban overnight RV parking, except if the RV owner meets some requirements, such as purchasing their RV from a Camping World shop.

Camping World has a nice RV wash product, but it’s a do-it-yourself solution and they won’t do it for you. Plus, Camping World isn’t listed on the list of RV wash sites that we have mentioned above.

Ways to Find an RV Car Wash Near Me?

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

The best way to find a washing service for RV in your area, you can use one of these two easy methods. The first method is a little outdated but it works; Simply open the yellow pages and see where they have an RV washing location . Companies that appear in the Yellow Pages are typically trustworthy, and it’s simple to find their location.

The second most used method is to go to your computer and search it up on the internet by using Google . To locate an RV wash service in your city, simply type in Google the term ‘RV wash services’ along with your city or zip code. You may also look up to nearby truck stops that provide washing services for bigger trucks that come through their doors.

One more option is to ask the employees at the gas station. Gas stations are familiar with where particular companies were and had maps to assist you in navigating your way around. If you’re planning a trip to Alaska, here’s one that can manage all of your washing needs , even for your dog. Doing your research before you decide to go on a trip will save you time and gas when you’re on the road looking for an RV washing service.

How Long Does an RV Wash Take?

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

Depending on the amount of road dirt and the size of the RV, exterior cleaning and drying might take a couple of hours . The period can be extended up to eight hours if you want more advanced services. For example, removing oxidation and polishing a big motorcoach’s paint job might take 7-8 hours.

How Much Does an RV Wash Cost?

The majority of general RV washes cost around $5 per foot, which ranges from $100 to $450 in total. Such treatment only includes an exterior cleaning of your RVs surface. If you add to that interior detailing and waxing, the price per foot might reach $45 or more . You may need to request an estimate because some mobile RV cleaning companies charge based on the quantity of work that is needed.

How Often Do You Need To Wash Your RV?

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

Unless you meet other nuisances that bring extra dirt to your trailer, an RV can use a good wash approximately once a month. For example, if you park your RV near trees where birds gather or take it for a ride through muddy paths, it may need to be washed more frequently.

Benefits of Regular RV Washing

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

There are a number of reasons to use a mobile RV wash service on a regular basis. Here are a few examples.

1. Make Paint and Decals Last Longer

RV owners may increase the lifespan of their vehicles by cleaning them on a regular basis . RV paint can oxidize and decals can peel as a result of sun exposure over time and travel. Numerous mobile RV wash businesses provide a specialized restoration treatment that removes the oxidation and restores the shine.

2. Discover Potential Leak Spots Or Cracks

Any experienced mobile RV washer will find caulk gaps, separations, and holes that would otherwise go unnoticed in everyday usage. This will allow the owner to fix and preserve potential problem areas before they turn into bigger issues. That is why it is important to do regular washing on your RV.

3. RV Looking Good

An owner that is proud of their RV will do regular cleaning of their RV. Also, it’s always great to have your RV looking good while you’re on the road.

Is an RV Wash Worth the Cost?

The expense of an RV service may appear excessive to people who merely want to clean the outside of their RV. However, saving RV owners time and effort may be a significant benefit. After a complete wash, those who hire interior detail services will notice that their RV feels brand new.  You will consider a mobile RV wash service beyond price if you value convenience and time.

Can You Take an RV Through a Truck Wash?

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

Big rigs are washed in truck washes. This implies they’ll be able to easily manage even the heaviest and tallest RVs . Many RV owners use truck washes because they are convenient. On an RV, you may not always carry the equipment needed to reach some areas. Regular cars may be washed at numerous truck washes; however, this is not always guaranteed. Before you go be sure to call in advance the facility and check the cost.

FAQ: People Also Ask

Can You wash the camper at a car wash?

We don’t advise taking your RV to a car wash location; cleaning the outside of your RV manually, although time-intensive, is the best method to clean it. If you want to clean the exterior of your RV, park it somewhere where it won’t be in direct sunlight. To clear the dust, sprinkle it with water first.

Can You wash the RV with Dawn dish soap?

We don’t recommend washing the RV with Dawn dish soap since the coating on your RV may be removed. Use any vehicle wash product instead. Cleaning your RV with a soft brush or a sponge is always a good idea.

How much does it cost to have an RV waxed?

The usual length of an RV is between 21 and 27 feet. It will cost between $150 and $200 to have it washed and waxed . The expense of having the interior cleaned ranges from $50 to $150. The cost of having an RV thoroughly detailed is between $200 and $350 in total .

What do you wash your RV with?

Accordingly,  almost all RVs can be cleaned with nothing more than soap and water . For starters, all you’ll need is a bucket filled with water and a light detergent like dish soap. Apply the mixture to one part at a time with a brush with a telescopic handle.

Final Thoughts

Maintaining the outside of your RV will provide the lifespan of your vehicle. Smog and other pollutants, as well as dirt and filth, can have a negative impact on your RV. Additionally, once you’ve cleaned up your vehicle, it’ll look fantastic. Therefore, be sure to look for some locations that are in your city by methods that we have mentioned in this article.

Keep in mind that some businesses are franchises that can also have a greater service. Maybe you’ll discover the opposite to be true. It is entirely up to you where you will wash your RV. Just keep in mind that RV washes are easy to locate and are as near as your yellow page or computer. I hope that this article has helped you and if you have any questions feel free to contact us.

Who doesn’t love the clean and fresh feeling of a newly washed RV? The good news is that washing your RV doesn't have to be difficult.

You just need to decide one thing: do you want to wash it yourself or pay someone else to do it?

The following is my guide to finding a place to get your RV washed, both self-serve and professional services. I also include some quick tips at the end for those washing your RV yourself.

We use affiliate links and may receive a small commission on purchases. Thank you for your support.

DIY RV Wash

Where to Get Your RV Washed

If you are looking for a good place to wash your RV yourself, there are a few places you can go.

The first one is obvious: wash your RV at your own home! If you have the room and a good spot to wash your RV, then you can treat it sort of like washing your car. Hook up your garden hose, grab a bucket and RV wash, a good RV brush , and get to scrubbing!

(Read below for my tips and tricks on washing your RV yourself!)

2. Self-Serve Car Wash Station

Another great spot to wash your RV is a local do-it-yourself car wash location. Many self-serve car wash locales have large stalls that accommodate your RV. Just make sure that the stall has clearance for the height of your RV.

You can search “self serve car wash station” on your GPS or Google. A lot of times they’ll note if they accommodate RVs or have pictures where you can see for yourself.

3. Truck Stop

Another great place to wash your RV is at a truck stop. These locations usually have facilities designed to wash big rigs, which can easily accommodate your RV.

Best of all, they’re usually located right off the interstate or main roadways. Plus, they’re easy to search for on GPS. If they don’t specify whether or not they have a wash, you can give them a quick call to ask.

Professional RV Wash

Do you want to pay someone to wash your RV for you? I sure don’t blame you. Washing an RV or even a camper van can be quite the chore. Even if you normally wash it yourself, it’s nice to have it professionally done once in a while.

Here are some great options and how to find them.

1. RV Repair Shops & Dealers

Quite a few RV repair shops and dealers have on-site RV washing stations. Some offer washing services to the public, including detailing options.

But, even if they don’t wash RVs on-site, they are one of the best resources to find a washing location nearby. A quick call to a local RV mechanic or dealer can save you a lot of searching online.

2. Mobile RV Wash & Wax

View this post on Instagram A post shared by National Detail Pros (@nationaldetailpros)

You know how there are mobile pet groomers that come to you? Well, guess what! There’s a version of that for RV grooming… I mean washing.

They are most commonly known as “Mobile RV Wash & Wax” or “Mobile RV Detailing” so I recommend searching for those terms specifically.

Just be aware of campground regulations if you’re hoping they’ll come there. Some campgrounds allow it, while others do not. This actually brings me to my next suggestion…

3. Ask Your Campground

Just like dealers are a good resource, so are campgrounds. They’ll likely be able to direct you to both self-serve and professional washing locations.

Better yet, many campgrounds have a go-to mobile RV washer and detailer. Oftentimes, you’ll get the best deal going with their guy than anyone else.

Pro Tip: Before calling a mobile RV wash service, ask nearby RVers if they want a wash, too. You might be able to get a group discount.

How to Wash Your RV: DIY Tips and Tricks

Where to Get Your RV Washed

Are you interested in washing your own RV, but do not know where to start? Whether you want to save the money or were unable to find a place that will wash it for you, don’t worry. You can easily wash it yourself!

The following is my guide to the best way to wash your RV.

What You Need:

  • Soft-bristle brush or sponge
  • Water source
  • Bucket (optional)
  • RV Cleaner that is safe for your metal, paint, and fiberglass RV body
  • Non-abrasive towel or chamois
  • Step ladder

We found a terrific product that gets bugs off our RV! Join us as we share our favorite way to clean off 5 states' worth of bugs from our LTV Wonder. For info on the product, go to https://amzn.to/35fmyVs

Washing the RV body:

  • Rinse off your rig to remove any debris or loose dirt.
  • Apply your cleaner, per its directions.

Not all cleaners are the same. Some you simply spray onto the vehicle, while others you have to dilute with water in a bucket.

  • Use your soft bristle brush to gently work in the cleaner. Be careful not to scratch the paint, but be sure to work the areas where the dirt is thick or hard to rinse off.

It is best to work in sections. Clean and dry one section, and then

         move onto the next section.

  • Rinse the RV, then towel dry immediately.

Washing the Roof:

RV roofs are tricky. Some you can walk on, some you can’t. So before ever stepping foot onto your roof, check first with your dealer or manual.

RV roofs come in two types: fiberglass or rubber. For cleaning a rubber roof, use a rubber roof cleaning product.

Fiberglass roofs can be easily cleaned. And most likely by the same product that you use on the rest of the vehicle.

If you are unsure of the type of RV roof you have, refer to your manual or contact your dealer to find out. And check out this post: Best RV Roof Cleaner (3 Top Picks 2022)

Where to Get Your RV Washed

Washing the Awning:

Washing your awning is pretty simple, but you do want to be careful. Most awnings only get dusty from camping, so they just need to be hosed off.

Scrubbing it can loosen the fabric or finish of the awning, so it should be avoided.

If you have a stubborn stain, many cleaners can sit on them for a while to loosen that dirt. Then you can simply rinse it off. Just be sure to check the cleaning instructions so that you do not damage the awning fabric.

I have a list of the Best RV Awning Cleaners you should check out.

Washing the Wheels:

To wash the wheels, it’s best to buy a wheel and rim cleaning product. Most RV wheels usually have aluminum wheel covers, painted rims or chrome rims. Be sure to find one that can work for your vehicle’s wheels.

Washing Gaskets and Weather Seals:

Doors, windows and slide-outs all come with flexible weather sealant or gasket. They are made from rubber, and are meant to keep out the elements from your RV.

Cleaning these gaskets and weather seals can help keep them from deteriorating.

To properly clean these, use a silicone-based cleaner . This can help extend their life by preventing them from drying out. Many of these cleaners are sprays, and do not require any wiping.

How To Wash an RV

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

Washing an RV is not like washing a car. It’s a lot more like washing a small house–with wheels. There isn’t an abundance of commercial RV wash locations to simply drive your RV through. Rolling up to a high school fundraiser and letting them tackle it is a lot to ask.

Before we get into the details, here’s a short overview of the steps for washing an RV:

  • Park where you can easily access the roof and all four sides
  • Assemble your RV cleaning supplies (brushes, cleaning solution, bucket, ladder, etc.)
  • Mix your cleaning solution according to its instructions
  • Work from roof to tires (top to bottom)
  • Rinse–scrub–rinse–repeat
  • Work in small sections to avoid soap drying before you can rinse
  • Use a squeegee to prevent water spots on windows

We’ll also note here that you should always consult your owner’s manual for model-specific RV cleaning instructions.

Where To Wash Your RV

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

There are so many makes, models, and sizes of RVs. Cleaning a pop-up camper or Happier Camper will take a lot less time (and soap and water) than cleaning a Class A diesel motorhome .

Because of that, you will rarely find RV parks that are willing to let you use enough water to wash your full RV. Scrubbing and rinsing the bugs and dirt grime from the front bumper and windshield is usually acceptable at a campground.

But to wash the entire coach, you’re going to need to be at home or find a very friendly person willing to let you use a pretty significant amount of water. If you’re traveling, stopping at a truck wash or a self-service car and RV wash is your best bet.

How Often Should You Change The Water?

change-water-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

Just like mopping the floor, if you don’t change your water regularly, you’ll simply end up pushing dirt and sand around. This can cause scratches in the body of your rig and leave you with a smudged, smeared RV body.

For smaller motorhomes under 25 feet in length, you should typically change your water halfway through the cleaning process. This means you can clean one side and the back of your coach before changing out water and adding more of your RV-friendly cleaning solution .

For longer RVs, you should change the water out 2-3 times to avoid scratching the body. Of course, you may need to refresh the water even more frequently if your RV is especially dirty.

Can You Pressure Wash an RV Rubber Roof?

where can i wash my travel trailer near me

Pressure washing your RV isn’t always a good idea. RVs often have overlapping layers or gaskets that can be damaged by high-pressure water, resulting in leaks. Areas sealed with silicone or other malleable materials can be pulled loose and seriously damaged.

RVs with metal bodies are also susceptible to damage from a pressure washer. Because they’re clad and riveted, water from high-pressure washers can seep in between the seams. And if your RV has decals, a pressure washer can peel them right off.

This isn’t to say you absolutely can’t use a pressure washer on an RV. It’s just a good rule to maintain a safe distance and have a good working knowledge of pressure washers before you do.

Typically, a good soft brush and a garden hose with a sprayer attachment will do the job just fine. Cleaning solutions made for RVs work to break down dirt and grime so that you don’t need that extra pressure to clean them off.

What is the Best RV Wash and Wax?

wash-and-wax-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

RVs tend to come with three primary exteriors: metal, painted metal, and fiberglass. Each of these may require a special kind of RV cleaner or brush (no, dish soap won’t suffice). We recommend always reading your owner’s manual for manufacturer suggestions to help you clean and wax your RV.

Metal bodies are common on older RVs and trailers, but they’re still used on certain brands today (think Airstream). They’re commonly aluminum and stainless steel and are best cleaned with a pre-wash that removes the majority of grime and grit. Then, you’ll want to use non-abrasive cleaners and soft-bristled brushes and mitts to remove the remaining residue.

Painted metal bodies can be treated like most vehicles. A gentle cleaner that’s made for RV use will do the trick, along with a soft-bristled brush. Stubborn stains and grime will require a bit more elbow grease, but they should come out with the pressure from a hose with a sprayer attachment.

Fiberglass bodies are more common in modern RVs because they’re lighter—inherently making them more fuel-efficient. Some are painted and some feature decals like stripes or other decorations.

For fiberglass, the best solution is a wash-and-wax product that cleans and protects your RV exterior. Most are environmentally friendly as well, which is particularly important if you’re planning to clean your RV in a campground.

How To Clean RV Awnings

awning-cleaning-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

Awnings are generally pretty simple to clean. This is because it’s difficult to get them dirty unless you’re camping in a dusty area. Usually, it’s as easy as hosing off the top and bottom sides of the fabric.

Gentle scrubbing may be needed for bird droppings or other residues that don’t come off after an initial rinse. Always use a soft brush with minimal pressure for this, and you can also consider using an awning cleaner to help remove caked-on grime. Most importantly, make sure your awning dries completely before rolling it up.

Treating Gaskets and Weather Seals

gaskets-and-seals-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

Every window, door, and slide-out on an RV has a gasket or flexible weather sealant. They’re rubber pieces that protect the RV from the elements. Keeping these seals and gaskets clean preserves them in good working order—meaning fewer replacements.

Silicone-based cleaners and lubricants keep your gaskets and seals from drying out. Many simply spray on and require no wiping or additional cleaning, but read the instructions carefully to make sure you apply them properly.

RV Rims and Tires

rims-and-tires-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

RVs tend to come with three kinds of wheels: painted rims, aluminum wheel covers, and chrome rims. The good news is that all three can be cleaned with the same RV cleaning solution and soft-bristled brush you use on the rest of your RV.

Here are a couple of additional considerations:

  • Remove aluminum wheel covers periodically to check for signs of rust.
  • Chrome rims are easily scratched. Avoid hard-bristled brushes and abrasive cleaners.

Your RV’s tires should also be cleaned with soap and water as you’re working on the rims. To shine your tires back up after they’ve dried completely, apply a tire and trim shine. For more tire care recommendations, read our guide to maintaining RV tires .

How to Wash an RV Roof

roof-clean-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

RV roofs come in two types: rubber and fiberglass. Rubber roofs are mostly a thing of the past,  but they were prevalent on RVs from the 80s and 90s. Fiberglass roofs are more common on modern motorhomes.

To clean a rubber roof, you’ll need an appropriate rubber roof cleaning product. Check your owner’s manual for rubber roof cleaning instructions and clean your roof every few months to keep it in good shape.

Avoid roof sealants or coatings that aren’t specifically made for rubber roofs. Using a product that isn’t safe for rubber roofs will prevent your roof from flexing appropriately and cause further damage.

On RVs with rubber roofs, black streaks can also develop on the roof or the sides of the camper. To remove them, you’ll need a   black streak remover made for RVs.

Fiberglass roofs are a little easier to clean. In most cases, you can use the same cleaner you’re using on the rest of your RV. Still, consult your RV owner’s manual for warnings related to roof maintenance before you select a product and start cleaning.

A Word of Caution About Getting on RV Roofs

word-of-caution-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

Some RV roofs are walkable, but others aren’t. Check your owner’s manual or with your dealer before stepping foot on (or potentially through) your RV’s roof.

For walkable roofs, it’s a good idea to wear shoes with a good grip on wet surfaces. Also, keep in mind that your footwear will get wet. Find a spotter that can assist and keep watch as you bring a hose with a sprayer attachment up your RV ladder , along with an appropriate cleaning solution and a soft brush.

For non-walkable roofs, you’ll need a telescoping RV ladder to spray and clean from various locations around the sides of your RV roof. It’s also a good idea to have a spotter nearby during this process.

If you’re not steady on your feet or you’re simply nervous about heights, you can leave washing your RV roof up to trained service and care technicians. Find a Camping World Service Center near you to assist with your RV roof cleaning needs.

Where Can I Get My RV Washed?

where-to-get-washed-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

When you’re on the road and in need of a cleaning, many campsites recommend cleaning contractors. They’ll come to the site with their own water source and clean your RV. They typically charge by the linear foot of your rig. So again: a Class A will cost more to clean than a small camper .

If you’re on the road and you need to come into a Camping World location for supplies anyway, inquire about our RV Spa Treatment . As you shop, our service technicians can wash and wax your entire RV, inside and out!

Because of everything you’ve learned about the intricacies of cleaning your rig, you’ll know there are several questions to ask before you let any contractor start cleaning. Before you agree to a price, make sure you’re getting everything you want to be included in that price.

Here are some questions to ask:

  • Are your brushes soft-bristle brushes?
  • What kind of detergents are you using?
  • Will a pressure washer be used?
  • Does the price include the rims, awning, roof, and windows?

Here’s the one thing to know: don’t fear cleaning your RV. It’s important for the longevity of your motorhome, whether new or used , and you’ll be happier with a home-on-the-road that’s clean inside and out . There are dozens of options for the right tools you’ll need.

Shop RV Cleaning Utensils.

If you’re looking for cleaning chemicals and washing solutions, you can find them online or at your local Camping World dealership .

For all the aging baby-boomers with RV’s how does one find a service to clean (especially the roof)? It is no longer safe to climb up on roof. We live in a small town.

' src=

It is possible for you to clean up the rubber roof of your RV with the mixture of water and mild detergent. You just need to apply the mixture using a medium-bristle brush as a means of removing the molds and stains. However, ensure that you avoid using a dishwashing detergent or cleaner, which contains citrus ingredients, harsh abrasives, and petroleum solvents. These ingredients might damage the rubber roof severely.

' src=

Thoroughly wash the entire roof surface. Clean dirt, debris and any loose material from the roof surface. Use mild detergent and garden hose to wash the roof surface. Don’t use harsh chemicals or petroleum products as they can damage the roof surface. If you find the roof surface is tearing apart apply RV Roof Magic.

Wish I could find a decent self serve wash here in Sacramento. There is a guy who will cenjoy to the rv park but he charges 350. And the nearby truck wash always has a a very long wait time.

I use a mobile RV detailing service that comes to my house. 40 foot Tiffin Phaeton, costs me 140 bucks For an extra 160 bucks he waxes it. I wax mine at least every 6 months. In between I wash it myself with a spotless water device. Wash it and Don”t have to dry it. Cuts the total time of the project from 3 hours to 1.5 hours. Drying a large beast is a royal pain. I use baby shampoo and a half cup of white vinegar as my cleaning solution. Baby shampoo is very mild and vinegar gets rid of any hard water issues. Then I rinse with the spotless water device

I seal my roof about every 3 years. A rubber roof is only good for about ten years before the elements dry it out and it starts tearing. Sealing it is the only way to keep fro having to replace it.

Where Can I Get My Travel Trailer Washed

This article is about where to find a place to wash your travel trailer.

Many people who own a travel trailer want to know how they can get it washed. This article will provide some tips on how you can find the best place to get your travel trailer washed.

What is the best way to clean a travel trailer?

Washing Fiberglass, Metal, and Enamel For this reason, good old soap and water is perfectly well-suited for cleaning most RVs. All you need to get started is a bucket that mixes mild detergent like dish soap with water. Use a brush with a telescoping handle to apply the mixture to one section at a time. [1]

Can you use a power washer on a camper?

You should never pressure wash or power wash your RV because of the high-pressure of the water will damage your RV’s exterior surfaces and components. As well, pressure washing injects water into crevices that may seep into your RV’s interior. [2]

Can I use Dawn to wash my camper?

If you don’t know how to wash an RV, you might assume you can simply use dish soap and water. But regular soap will strip away your RV’s coating while also leaving a film, so don’t do it. Instead, buy an RV cleaner that is tough enough to remove dirt and dust,Opens a new window but not too hard on the paint. [3]

How often should you wash and wax your RV?

Waxing your RV should be thought of as must-do maintenance twice a year to keep the paint in good shape. Not only does it keep the paint looking better, but also it will help prevent staining and sometimes chipping. When waxing, do a two-foot section at a time. [4]

How much does it cost to clean a travel trailer?

The average RV detailing service starts at around $5 per foot for a basic clean of the exterior only. But for a more thorough job, including the interior, your RV detailing cost per foot is going to be $25+. [5]

How often should you wash your travel trailer?

Depending on who you talk to, many RV enthusiasts recommend washing your rig 10-12 times a year. Some find it more convenient to just hire someone to do the dirty work, while others may actually enjoy it and get a sense of accomplishment once they’re done. [6]

How much does it cost to pressure wash a camper?

As a starting point, it is reasonable to expect a full exterior high pressure wash and a “mini” interior detail for around $15 per foot. If you own a medium-sized RV measuring around 22 feet, a detailing package can cost around $330. [7]

What is the best way to clean an RV rubber roof?

Mix your cleaning solution. Mix 6 ounces of Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner with 8 cups (half-gallon) of cold water in a bucket or large container. Sweep roof. Clear the RV roof of any debris, leaves, or loose dirt with a broom. Rinse. Apply cleaner. Scrub. Rinse. [8]

Is washer and dryer in RV worth it?

Although they do their job fairly well, some RVers generally stay away from these types of RV washers and dryers. They tend to use a lot of water, and drying clothes can take a long time (and therefore a lot of electricity!). However, if these are the kind that fit in your type of RV, go for it. [9]

What is the best thing to wash the outside of a camper with?

To clean the exterior of your RV, we suggest parking it in a place not in direct sunlight. First, spray it with water to remove dust. Next, using an abundant amount of clean water and a car-washing mitt or sponge, wash your RV from top to bottom. You can also use a mild car-washing soap. [10]

What is the best soap to wash a RV?

What is the Best Soap to Wash an RV? Mild soap and water are a great, and inexpensive, way to get your RV clean. Some recommended RV cleaners include Simple Green, Star Brite, Gel Gloss, Reliable 1, and many more which can work wonders on your rig. [11]

Should I wash my RV roof?

But if you’re on this page, you’ve no doubt realized your RV roof needs some TLC too. The #1 most important tip when it comes RV roof maintenance is keep it clean. Regularly cleaning your roof will extend its lifespan, which is good, because replacing an RV roof is much more expensive and time-consuming. [12]

Elektrostal

Elektrostal’.

(until 1938, Zatish’e), a city under oblast jurisdiction in Moscow Oblast, RSFSR; situated 58 km east of Moscow. Railroad station on a branch line of the Moscow-Orekhovo-Zuevo line. Population, 135,000 (1977; 43,000 in 1939; 97,000 in 1959; 123,000 in 1970). Enterprises in the city include the Elektrostal’ Electrometallurgical Plant, a heavy machinery plant, a book bindery, and a plant for the production of motor vehicles and railroad equipment. The main educational institutes are a branch of the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, machine-building and construction technicums, and a music school.

(full name, I. F. Tevosian Elektrostal’), an electrometallurgical plant located in the city of Elektrostal’, Moscow Oblast. It manufactures high-quality alloy and special steels.

Formed from a foundry that had opened in 1916, Elektrostal’ began operation in 1918. It was thoroughly retooled between 1926 and 1937, with the addition of two steelmaking shops equipped with open-hearth and electric furnaces, a rolling shop equipped with model 350, model 600, and model 800 mills, a heat-treating shop, a stamping shop, a forging shop, and a drop-hammer shop. In 1940, the plant produced 226,000 tons of steel.

Elektrostal’ was evacuated to the Urals at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45. It was reevacuated in 1942 and began production for the front in July of that year. In the 1950’s, 1960’s, and 1970’s, a number of production sections were modernized and fully mechanized; shops with special equipment of the newest design were built, as were first-class laboratories with modern apparatus.

Elektrostal’ makes use of many advanced production processes, including oxygen steelmaking, subsurface deoxidation, and refining in molten slags and under high vacuums. Electron-beam melting and plasma-arc melting have been introduced.

Research is conducted at Elektrostal’ on the development and commercial production of new types of steel. The plant is now capable of producing more than 2,000 types of steel and alloys. Its steel output increased by a factor of 3.5 between 1945 and 1975.

Elektrostal’ was awarded the Order of Lenin in 1945 and the Order of the October Revolution in 1971.
